A Prissy Girl’s Guide to Fall

back by popular demand, i’m here with another prissy girl guide! this post is a bit late for the fall but it’ll allow you to finish the season off in a pretty fashion, and transition to the winter smoothly. i’ll be discussing the look i’ve been adorned in as of late and my fav products i’ll be using for the spirit of fall! 💓

what’s the look this fall?

the look this season is “divalicious barbie.” voluminous hair, tapered square nails and fur details + neutral color palettes. add in a few pops of pink and some sparkly detailz and you got my look this fall. “sexy chic.” i’ve been really leaning into the vibe of a runway supermodel diva emulsion. as you may have seen, my birthday outfit drew from many inspirations, focally the early nineties alaia runway shows. just immense glamour, class and girliness with a healthy dose of sexy.

first and foremost…

the weather is turning so a lot of us are catching colds. take care of your health and rest. protect your immune system and dress according to weather. i almost always get sick around late september/early october and its because of the dip my immune system takes due to the change in climate.

preparation

some of you are in school like me. one of the reasons the fall is my fav season is because it’s time to get back to the basics. you should be developing new study routines around this time or perfecting the ones you have already

🍅 Tomato Magic for Love and Prosperity ❤️

Like most everything I cook, this sauce gets the magic treatment. It makes adding magic to other meals I cook during the week a breeze! I always make this in the slow cooker on a weekend when I can babysit it. Sauces like this should be cooked low and slow, and it’s less likely to burn in a crock-pot. It can, of course, be cooked on the stove as well, but it requires a lot more monitoring. Whatever you use, treat this sauce like it’s your baby, and it’ll come out amazing. 

With the main ingredient in this sauce being, well, tomatoes, it lends itself very well to love and prosperity magic. Tomatoes are considered an aphrodisiac and are tied to Lady Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty.🩷 They’re also known to dispel negativity and bring wealth to the home. So this would be a good recipe to help inspire a happy marital home, or to serve on a date night, or bring about love or wealth in general! I like to think of it as a spell for a loving and prosperous home.💕 I use cans of crushed tomatoes, but you can use fresh as well if you have some nice ripes ones. My last attempt at fresh didn’t end well, but I’ll try it again soon and let you all know how it goes! Now let’s get to the actual recipe. 

Ingredients

2 large cans of crushed Tomatoes (prosperity, passion, love)

Garlic, minced and/or roasted* (love, purity, banishing negativity)

Water or Broth (about a can’s worth)

1 small can of tomato paste (guard against negativity) 

1 medium Onion, minced (endurance, stability, banishing negativity)

A couple glugs of olive oil 

A glug of red wine

Half of a roasted, skinned and pureed red bell pepper (optional, but so good!)*

Bay leaf (love, passion, harmony)

Basil (wealth,love, faithfulness)

Oregano (ward against negative energy, happiness, peaceful energy)

Thyme (positivity, prosperity)

Parsley (happiness, passion, protection)

Sage (prosperity, mental clarity) 

Rosemary (beauty, love, general magical boost)

Marjoram (happiness, love, money)

Sea Salt (purity, protection)

Pepper (passion)

Crushed red pepper (passion, a spell booster)

You can go about making this sauce two different ways. In one version, you just toss everything into the pot, give it a good couple of clockwise stirs, turn the heat to low and let it cook all day long. This, of course, still tastes amazing and it’s incredibly easy. You can draw some sigils on the pot or crock-pot in dry erase marker for an extra boost to your spell, too! 

The second method is also easy, but takes a bit more time and mess. In this version, you’ll want to saute your onions and garlic in some of the olive oil. Then, add the tomato paste with some water and cook that down. Add your wine and cook it down some more. If you’re using the roasted bell pepper, add that to this mixture too. Dump this amazing smelling concoction into your crock pot with the tomatoes and other ingredients and then let it cook all day. You’ll have an extra pan to wash, but even more depth of flavor! 

Say your intent and affirmations every time you check on the sauce to stir. If you have a red and/or gold or green pillar candles or tea lights, light those as well and place them in the kitchen. As you add and adjust your herbs and spices, continue to charge with your intent. At the end of the day, serve over some steaming pasta with parmesan cheese (or a good vegan substitute!), and enjoy!

I always make extra to save and use throughout the week in other dishes that could use a love or money boost. Plus it tastes amazing. So make a night of it, and enjoy! 

*I use. A lot of garlic. You could use as much as a whole head, but I usually use about half of one. If you have the patience to roast it, do so. It’s sooooo good. To roast, peel off some of the outer skin of the head, cut off the top, coat it in olive oil and roast it at around 350 degrees for an hour. You can just squeeze out that garlicky goodness. 

*To roast a red bell pepper, coat it in oil, broil it until the skin blackens. Place it in a paper or plastic bag and close it so the steam continues to cook it and loosen the skin. Once it’s cool, peel the skin off! You can then chop or puree it for your sauce. 

Keep in mind that you can alter the purpose of this spell with your intent, using different herbs, etc. This is a base recipe and you can tailor it to your needs. :)

So [Spoilers] this is a storyline prior to Prelude to the Wedding in which Booster Gold goes back in time, stops Bruce’s parents from being murdered as a wedding gift to Bruce (lmao he’s a little screwed in the head and I love him), and, basically, Bruce never becomes Batman.

He gets to grow up with his family and as a result, Gotham gets worse and worse everyday.

Of course, it’s not to say that there’s no Batman.

In this version of Gotham, Dick becomes a very twisted version of Batman, who kills with a gun and seems that all he can say is his target’s name and the word die. (Did he spend time with the Court?)

Tim has a boring office job.

And Jason; apparently he’s still got a thing for tires.

Now, personally, I don’t really connect with this story, because where does Dick even get the inspiration for becoming “Batman”specifically?

And I do understand that not everybody would agree with such an alternative for Jason, either. At the end of the day, the comic reading experience is all about getting to pick and choose the stories you resonate with most. But also, nobody can say that there’s absolutely no alternative timeline in which Jason didn’t grow to launch a tire-brand in his own name.

All things considered, I hope that MAWS season 3 is the season where they introduce the other big DC heroes, but at the same time, I have to wonder what the characters of Batman and Wonder Woman will be like.

Will we get an overdramatic loner emo Batsy for that current Pattinson Batman synergy, or are we going to get something closer to Conroy's Batman? Heck, with the tech-focused angle of MAWS, perhaps this would be an opportunity to try something closer to Rino Romano's portrayal in The Batman?

Will Diana be the ever-compassionate, wise yet pragmatic nigh-immortal warrior princess, or is she going to be little more than the primary vehicle for next season's relationship drama, her mere presence driving a wedge between Clark and Lois akin to early New 52 Wondy? I really fucking hope not. For a change, let Diana be into both Clark AND Lois. Let her rizz them BOTH up and let Lois be kinda into it.

Honestly I'd rather the trinity get their own respective shows in this style that introduces them in the framework of their own stories before they get slapped into Superman's story. And also I'm very wary about introducing Batman at all because DC has a problem of introducing Batman to a story and it immediately becoming A Batman Story (tm).

If they do end up introducing other heroes from the DC universe, I'd rather they pick characters in theme with the show's emphasis on space and technology--like Adam Strange, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, Captain Atom, or Cyborg. Or that they start bringing in Fourth World characters like Darkseid, Orion, Mister Miracle and Big Barda. Hell, they could bring in Kon-El or General Zod, too. They're only now establishing Lex as his own villain and not just someone clinging onto Waller, and they haven't even brought in Lobo yet!!! There's still plenty of Superman content to explore without shoehorning in an underdeveloped Trinity. Or they could bring in Booster Gold and/or the Legion of Superheroes for a time travel plot that's still focused on Supes. (A time-traveling Jon showing up à la Trunks, anyone?)

My really big concern here is the show has put all this energy into establishing Lois + Jimmy as Superman's team, and now with the new season they've expanded that to include Kara and Steel, and I don't want that to get chucked out the window just because they want to bring the Trinity in. Honestly the last thing I want is for Batman and Wonder Woman to show up like, "Out of the way, supporting cast! The real main characters are here!" If they're going to expand further into the DC universe, I want it to feel natural to THIS show, not just ticking off a mainstream fandom checklist.

A big part of what I love about Superman solo comics is their emphasis on the normal people surrounding Clark that he cares for and is inspired by, and they're usually the first to get elbowed out when he gets thrown into big crossover. I don't want that with MAWS. The show is literally called My Adventures with Superman, which implies its major baseline is that its from the perspective of the normal non-powered people closest to Superman (read: Lois and Jimmy). I don't want this show to breach that until Wonder Woman and Batman are established on their own.

Bart allen is the best flash fam member (will not elaborate)

Booster gold has decent comics but he is at his best with blue beetle (ted) they're dynamic is what draws me to his comics (platonic or otherwise) and its not super entertaining without him.

Dick Grayson isnt being used properly in comics right now. He is boring and watered down. I dont enjoy reading his current comics that much. They feel like a different charecter thats inspired by older nightwing comics.

Batfamily takes up to much comic space. There are thousands of other heroes, but the majority of the comics coming out right now are batman and company. There needs to be more time spent on other superheros

Oliver queen is not a bad parent or menor. He also doesn't hit his kids (yes even roy)

You dont need to read comics (im lying, read at least one or two), but you have to at least watch the movies or tv shows. Only engaging in fanon is ridiculous and makes no sense. You're a fan of a character whose media you dont even slightly consume. You're a fan of the idea of a person you know nothing about.

Goofy characters like the flash are not stupid. Every speedster is like mega genius. Most supers have an academic leaning. A lot of them started out by creating their own costumes, wepons, and strategies. If they were stupid, they would have died earlier.

how did you develop your more semi "realistic" artstyle? im an artist myself so i know theres not a full answer to such a question i guess i was just wondering if there was something other than gravity falls that inspired you and influenced your artstyle

I drew a lot of anime when I was younger and then I decided I wanted to try and shoot for realism but I landed somewhere in the middle. I do remember pretty distinctly that I wanted to at least shift from looking like anime to looking like american comics though

I remember the art in the matt fraction Hawkeye comics was one specifically

most people remember David Aja's art (below)

but there were other artists in that series too

Annie Wu's (below) I would say is what mine ended up resembling more

and just sort of other american comics in general. (Blue beetle, Booster Gold, and Nightwing pictured below)

So I tried to learn from the ones I liked.

the exaggerated facial features (large mouths especially) are holdovers from anime though!

and the way i color eyes is a shoujo manga thing lol

Reverse Robins au where all the other sidekicks are reversed too. Like Kon was created after Jon became Superboy, Bart travelled back in time and landed before Wally got his powers, the order green lanterns got their rings is different, the order the Shazam family got their powers is swapped, and I know next to nothing abt the arrow family so I’m just imagining Connor holding eight year old Roy.

Fuck it, swap all the other heroes around too. Maybe Wonder Woman only left Themyscera a few years ago, maybe she only became a hero because she was inspired by Donna Troy, maybe Kryptonians live a really long time and Clark was the one fighting the war, maybe Barry only started thinking about time travel because he was inspired by Booster Gold, maybe Batman modelled himself after Batwoman instead of vis versa.

Wip ask game: Billy Batson's Middle School Survival Guide and gold star

I'm curious :p

!! Thank you for sending in the ask! I'm really excited for these two!

Alright, so basically, Billy Batson's Middle School Survival Guide is about Billy going into middle school as a 6th grader, already having been Captain Marvel for the past two years. He's a trusted superhero of the community and a valued member of the Justice League. He had a rough start in his personal life but feels like he has a new balance going on that's given him some peace. He even has a part-time internship at Whiz Radio News & Broadcasting!

Nothing can go wrong, right?

Womp womp, everything can absolutely go wrong! When the mayoral campaigns and election begin in Fawcett, a new face shows themselves to Billy Batson; a suspicious new cousin. Just who are they? Why hasn't Billy ever heard of him? And what exactly is he planning?

This fic idea is inspired by the Power of Shazam comic run, and I absolutely loved that one! I wanted to dig in deeper about Sinclair Batson and make some new lore while attaching some old world-building. The plot surrounds Billy trying to navigate the new criminal underworld threats going on in his city, using his investigative skills taught to him by Sterling Morris and Helen Fidelity, while also trying to maintain the balance between his personal and superhero life without falling apart.

As for Gold Star, that one is a team-up with Booster Gold and Captain Marvel. Just a little idea I had about time travel. I haven't seen these two interact, but I feel like they'd be great together. It deals with a magical artifact letting loose unstable time magic throughout Fawcett City, and while Captain Marvel is more than up to the task of solving this problem, Billy Batson is the one asking for help from an unlikely source.

I also think it's funny how Billy could get a gold star sticker in class for doing a good job and in the fic, he could give Booster Gold a gold star sticker for being a good superhero.
