Yandere! Damian x Danny
.
.
.
The Al Ghul’s did not believe in love.
In strength, intelligence, in power — always.
But love is a word, a title to use, to manipulate and create whatever they wished from another.
This is a fact: the Al Ghul’s did not believe in love, nor did they feel it.
But Damian thinks that perhaps this is close to it. This funny little feeling in his chest that burns and aches in a way that leaves him breathless. That funny little feeling in his bones that itches to hold Daniel close until he is rooted into his shape and scent. That funny little feeling in his throat that wanted to bite Daniel until only the scars of his teeth remained and Daniel’s blood spilled and stained with life turned cold.
Damian knows this is love, because what else is this need to possess and hold, and tear every other inch of Daniel apart from this world and make him his own?

A detail I love about Episode 4, is the symbol that appears in the music ball Charles finds and the meaning it has when it comes to his own story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The relief in the ball, is a lyre, Orpheus' symbol. It was the musical instrument that he received as a gift from the god Apollo, who was considered his father in some versions of the original myth.
Note: In The Sandman Universe, Morpheus and the Muse Calliope are Orpheus' parents.
CHARLES: I found one of those at a maritime museum once. The Case of the Drowned Diver, wasn't it, Edwin? Superstitious sailors would use them to calm the seas.
Orpheus was well known as a talented musician; his music could intrigue people's minds with supernatural ideas and had the power to broaden their thinking to new and unusual theories.
When he joined the expedition of the Argonauts, he saved them from the Sirens' music by playing his own, more powerful and beautiful melodies. Later, it was also his music that allowed Jason to accomplish the purpose of his journey.
It makes sense that sailors used his symbol on an object designed to calm the seas and guarantee their safety while navigating.
When it comes to Charles, in particular, the way he ends up using the music ball (in the absence of a more technical name for that object) is both literal and metaphorical.
On one hand, he uses the music ball to put Angie, a sea monster, to sleep, thereby solving the case of The Lighthouse Leapers. On the other hand, he uses the instrument to save Edwin and himself from The Night Nurse—not just by literally pushing her into Angie's mouth with the ball in her hands, but by causing her to meet Kashina. This meeting prompts her to remember Kashi's words later, when Charles tried to save Edwin from returning to hell by pointing out it was a mistake, and again when he asked her to open a portal to hell so he could bring Edwin back.
In Orpheus' story, when Eurydice died from a snakebite, he charmed the ferryman Charon and Cerberus, the guardians of the River Styx, by playing the lyre and singing. By doing so, he also softened the hearts of Hades and Persephone, which gave him the chance to bring Eurydice back to the world of the living.
It's curious that the lyre symbolizes the power of persuasion for Orpheus, as this is a quality in which Charles takes great pride (he is indeed very convincing). Still, I hope that's where the coincidences end.
That's all for now. To everyone who knows about Orpheus' myth and the different versions of his story, I apologize for not quoting specific authors here.

tit preshow drinking game
the show you’re about to watch is good, this isn’t
phil defends it saying it's a different experience
they introduce the phlit and it takes way too long (at US shows, talk about how they don’t have mailboxes in the uk)
phil treats the phlit weirdly sexually
this was your opportunity to ask us deep, hard hitting questions about life (you're laughing bc you didn't)
should we be scared of what you put in the box? YESS
if anything offends you, it’s your fault bc you asked the questions
the first question sets the tone
who’s watering the houseplants? FUCK. the pheal is watering them (can ppl stop asking this question like omg)
(ridiculous random question) “i’ve been waiting 15 years to see dan and phil, THIS is what i’m gonna ask them”
unhinged fuck marry kill
domestic lore drop
phil thinks a card is blank but he just has to flip it over
question about something specific to the city everyone goes crazy
phil suggests susan as a name for something
a question is addressed to one of them and they act like it’s an insult to the other
phil broken rib mention
“the european mind cannot comprehend”
someone asks phil about soup “am i chewing am i swallowing, am i drinking”
if we had a pet it would be dead right now
any variation of will you wear wigs (we’re wearing wigs right now)
it is now my job to take a commemorative selfie, if you need to sort your hair out DO IT NOW

What's a Marauders headcanon that you personally don't like?
For me, it's the idea that Regulus took the Mark the night Sirius left. First of all, Sirius was 16 when he left, and Regulus got his Mark at 16, so it’s literally not even possible. Second, it feels like people are somehow blaming Sirius for Regulus's choices (or even if not directly), they're just piling more blame and guilt onto this poor kid's shoulders when all he did was leave his abusive household.

shoutout to Jake Animorphs for being kinda uninteresting for like forty books and then hitting you so hard when he fully snaps and steps into his role as a hardened military leader at the age of sixteen
and then suddenly that sweet, stressed-out kid is just gone. he only exists to win wars anymore. it makes you realize too late what was lost

So I've been lurking in the Danganronpa fandom long enough now to start feeling insane, because it felt really obvious to me that Nagito genuinely suspected/hoped Hajime was the traitor, but I have seen no fic, no art, no posts or essays addressing this at all?? Not even one??
First of all, he accused him outright. Then he found out Hajime was even more of an outlier than he thought he was in the Final Dead Room. At no point was it confirmed or revealed that Nagito found out Hajime was Kamakura, so probably he thought Hajime was just some random mystery Reserve among his Ultimate classmates. He may have even found out about the Reserve course mass-suicide in there, which gives Hajime a motive to be fucking around with them in secret. He tried to sneakily ask Hajime what his deal was right before the trial, all "What do you think of books like that?" and was really disappointed when Hajime played dumb. He made a point to state in his final video that he was too hard on Hajime, as if he expected him to be around to hear him say that.
And despite his luck, his plan failed. Which is a little weird, because it succeeded in every other respect -- identifying the traitor, making it nearly impossible to determine the killer, setting up the Remnants for execution -- but not in actually executing them, his true end goal, which implies, I think, that his goal was a little more complicated than just killing them all? He didn't just want them to die, he wanted the traitor to live, but if he thought Hajime was the traitor...
Then his luck did work. Because Hajime understood Nagito just enough to figure out what he was trying to do, but also, I think, because that was really what Nagito wanted all along. Above everything else. More than dying, more than killing. He just wanted Hajime alive.
Am I insane for thinking this?? Or are all the fics/art/essays just hiding from me???

Batman fun fact! Did you know that Scarecrow’s toxin doesn’t always cause fear? Sometimes it does the opposite! In Detective Comics #571, he wields a variant that completely inhibits the biochemical fear response, preventing people from feeling any concern for themselves or using basic common sense. He runs a racket administering it to star athletes, who take huge risks and get badly injured. Then they’re willing to cough up a lot for an antidote. Batman and Robin - here Jason Todd - catch on, but Bruce is dosed with the reverse fear toxin; since his intelligence is his greatest strength, being too overconfident and reckless to think twice about anything makes him his own worst enemy.
This premise was adapted in the Batman: The Animated Series episode “Never Fear”. There we see that with no fear of losing his moral integrity, Bruce becomes cold and merciless to criminals. Robin - here Tim Drake - has to catch somebody he leaves to fall off a building, tie him up to stop him endangering himself and others and give him the antidote to prevent him murdering Scarecrow.
But in the comic book, Jason is kidnapped by Scarecrow. He gets gassed and hallucinates Bruce dying and telling him that it’s his fault. He isn’t around to keep Bruce in check as he goes to rescue him through a series of death traps that he can’t resist cutting it as close as possible in. So how does Bruce not go off the deep end? How does he not lose sight of what’s important? Not lose himself?
Because even a drug designed to shut down stress at the most fundamental level can’t overpower his true worst fear. The Dark Knight might feel fearless…
