Health Considerations
The Indian Pariah Dog is a generally healthy breed, which is represented by the low incidence of genetic abnormalities and the average life expectancy of 13-16 years for this particular kind.  They are also genetically conditioned to overcome the genetic diseases that are very common in most species, contributing to their longevity as well as also a very low prevalence of health problems.  Meanwhile, there are still some health issues that the people who get this kind of pet should take into account, including dental problems and skin allergies. Overall Hardiness The Indian Pariah Dog is a hardy breed, often displaying robust health and vigor due to its natural adaptation and evolutionary history. This resilience contributes to their minimal genetic disorders and the ability to thrive in various environments. Dental Health Like many other dog breeds, dental health is an important aspect of caring for Indian Pariah Dogs. Regular dental care, such as brushing their teeth and providing appropriate chew toys, can help prevent dental issues and maintain their overall well-being. Skin Allergies Some Indian Pariah Dogs may be prone to skin allergies, which can cause discomfort and irritation. Keeping an eye on their skin condition, providing a balanced diet, and using vet-recommended grooming products can help manage and prevent skin-related issues. By being mindful of these common health concerns and providing proactive care, owners can ensure that their Indian Pariah Dogs lead long, healthy lives while enjoying the companionship of this ancient and remarkable breed.

💖 Happy Gotcha Day! 💖
Two years ago I made a six hour round trip on a freezing cold Saturday night with @bucketgirl to pick up this sweet, mischievous, clever boy who became my best friend.
This past year has thrown us a few challenges that I wouldn’t have been able to overcome without him, but it’s also had a lot of really great moments that I’m so glad we were able to share. Aang experienced his first beach, bravely explored quite a few new hiking trails, and (nearly) always puts up with modeling for me.
Hopefully this coming year will bring fewer hard times, loads more hikes and beach trips, and if we’re lucky, a new addition to the family 😉

A lot of my free time for the past seven odd months has been taken up by Miss Meena - who seems to get into trouble requiring vet care now and then - as a result I haven’t been able to concentrate on the blog as much as I would like to. She has recovered well and is very playful and energetic (making her a bit of a handful when she is in our house) :)
She is still a quasi domestic/quasi street dog - the lure of the street is too strong with her! Partly this is because she has a family.  We got her mother sterilised and her brother, Mr Deeka, is doing well.
Hopefully now that she is all grown up things will go on more steadily once she is spayed:)
Where Miss Meena got treated. For general info on the INDog/desi dog, page here.
