Unique India Show Idea

an indie production set in a dystopian world which is plagued by genocidal beings sent from an otherworldly empire to kill. Said beings are neigh unkillable and dressed in all black with an X across there eye(s). Said being take orders directly from a human wearing a full face mask making them look less human.

The plot followed a woman with daddy issues who wishes to end the never ending death caused by the genocidal beings even when her father (the highest authority in the world) is adamantly against.

The woman also has an arguably distorted view of the history which led to the genocidal beings being sent down. She also has satanic powers which notably give her the ability to transform into a satanic monstrous version of herself.

At some point, the woman befriends before falling in love with one of the genocidal beings who now stands by there trying to end the 'bloodshed'. Said genocidal began to question the regime causing the lead genocidal being to try and kill them. Eventually, in a large conflict, the lead genocidal being gets very badly injured and nearly killed.

Eventually, it is revealed that the genocidal beings were not really sent by the otherworldly empire but instead by a celestial being who takes on a more human form and who's name is a shortened version of one of the characters key identifier.

The show is great but often suffers from pacing and character design issues.

This is the fundraising promo for a new comedy pilot in the works titled Man-Hating Lesbians.

How many times have you watched a show featuring two lesbians, fallen in love with the characters, got invested in their plot, only for it to get canceled for 'low viewership'? How many times have you had to turn to fan edits (or even fan fiction) to see two characters who are clearly gay actually be paired together? Welcome to Man-Hating Lesbians.

We love our community, our spaces, and how it feels to accept yourself as a dyke. We want that to be on screen. The creative team behind Man-Hating Lesbians love being lesbians. And so we made a show about it.

To make this show a reality, to bring it to your screen, we have a super ambitious goal: to raise $25,000!

It’s a big one, but reaching that goal allows us to MAKE the damn thing and get more diverse dyke media representation out into the world. Our ultimate goal is to get the attention of a showrunner and get the pilot greenlit into a series, so reaching our goal as fast as possible is an important part of being able to do that!

A brief history on National Coming Out Day - October 11th

"NCOD was inaugurated in 1988 by Robert Eichberg and Jean O'Leary. (...) LGBT activists, including Eichberg and O'Leary, did not want to respond defensively to anti-LGBT action because they believed it would be predictable. This led them to establish NCOD to maintain positivity and celebrate coming out. The date of October 11 was chosen because it is the anniversary of the 1987 National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights." 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

-You're a fan of audio fiction/audio dramas and you like ensemble casts. Our show has thirty actors overall, but don't worry, we'll introduce them slowly so it doesn't get confusing. Some of them only show up once or twice but are all important to the story. We wanted to give you a whole world like you're watching a tv show. You'll mostly follow Ben Miller, Ezra Hansen, Veronica Barrow, and Wyatt Perth to try and solve what happened to Janie Melnyk

-You either find true crime podcasts interesting or you can't stand them. A weird juxtaposition, we know. We'll explain. Our show is about Ben Miller an amateur true crime podcaster who can't get anyone to listen to his show. To try and increase listenership he asks his best friend Janie Melnyk if she will stage her own disappearance so he can find her. The plan works a little too well when she really does go missing. WTLFP follows tropes of true crime in Ben's search but also plays with how sometimes the people in front of the mic may take it too far and forget that they are still talking to real people. We bring you the consequences as well as the action.

-You like solving (or trying to solve) mysteries. If you think you're good at figuring out who did it before the big reveal, try your hand at this audio drama! Each episode Ben will follow a new lead until everyone is a suspect. The only clue he really has at the start is blood writing on a cabin wall that reads "Where the Leaves Fall Purple." What does it mean? And what does it have to do with the disappearance?

-You want a show with positive queer rep. 3/5 of our main characters are part of the LGBT+ community. Ezra: Ben's roommate, is a gay man dealing with the recent breakup with his ex-boyfriend Wyatt. Their breakup meant that he also lost his best friend. Wyatt deals with the stereotypes and scrutiny of being a bisexual man as he's started dating a girl named Skylar after Ezra. Veronica is a lesbian who is often everyone's voice of reason. She's Janie's other best friend who doesn't like Ben much at the start.

-You like shows that don't shy away from harder topics. WTLFP deals with topics of anxiety, biphobia, domestic violence/assault, death, and grief. We put warnings on episodes that may be triggering. We wanted the story to feel authentic (in a tasteful, responsible way), which means that sometimes we do have to have the hard conversations/moments. We try our best to handle them with tact and heart.

-You want to support indie artists/creators. WTLFP started as a group of people getting together in the show's creator's basement to tell a good story. And that's still what it is. Majority of the cast and crew are volunteers and others are only receiving a small honorarium because it's all we can afford to do coming out of a very difficult time for creatives. You listening directly supports everyone involved. We appreciate every stream/download.

Higher piracy rates are what happens when you make buying comics expensive, difficult, platform-dependent, and inherently exclusionary while pretending trades and digital don't count as sales.

the history of animation in a nutshell

Early 1900s: hey what if comic strips could like move?

Late 1910s early 1920s hey what if we mashed this up with live action people?

late 1920s: hey what if this thing had sound?

Early to mid 1930s: hey what if this had people actually talking and also color?

late 1930s: hey you know that super cool movie that one lady animated with paper cut out silhouettes? What if we did that with painted cells? Would people even pay to see that? Never mind it turns out the answer is yes.

1940s: ah shit most of our animators got drafted and/or hate us now cause we weren’t paying them. IT’S PROPAGANDA TIME BABY. Also haha hitler got hit with a mallet and also the most racist depictions of Japanese people ever.

1950s to 1960s : oh what’s this newfangled thing? Television? What if you could air cartoons on it? Oh fuck no I ain’t paying that much to get the charecters to have different backgrounds and for the charecters to like, move fluidly. Also manga and anime are steadily growing more popular.

1970s: (Ralph Bakshi walks into a comics store and finds a furry comic) X rated animated movie? *cue the screams of mothers and their unsuspecting children now being introduced to the revolutionary idea that cartoons don’t equal kids stuff? WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO?

1980s to 1990s: we can have full on animated Broadway musicals? Wait, what do you mean animated movies can count for the Oscar’s? What do you mean now they get their own catagory because the academy still thinks their for babies? Anime and manga are taking off in the west. SWEET JESUS WHAT DRUGS ARE THE JAPANESE ON SHOWING THIS SHIT TO KIDS. But also why is it so fucking good. Maybe some of these aren’t even meant for kids? Wait We can sell toys to kids with cartoons? Wait we can actually put effort into these cartoons on television? The fuck to you mean we can animate in 3D now? What do you mean we can have well animated, well written sitcom shows like the simpsons? What do you mean you can make cartoon charecters say fuck? What drugs are creators at Nickelodeon on? Do I even want to know?

2000s: oh my god, there is this one show that I really like cause it’s really well written and genuinely funny but I can’t talk about it because it’s animated and we all know cartoons are for babies right? Oh look it’s the transformers movie, look how far CGI has evolved so we can make the transformers in a movie.

2010s: holy shit I know these shows are for kids but they’re just well written and have so much meaningful things to say about the world. Wait, it’s cool to like cartoons now? They they have fandoms for this? Fuck yeah I’m in. (Enters one of the most notoriously toxic fandoms of all time) THEY HAVE GAY PEOPLE IN THESE SHOWS NOW? AND COMPLEX EMOTIONAL STORYTELLING? AND ADULT ANIMATED SHOWS CAN BE MORE THAN JUST SITCOMS WITH THE SAME JOKES AND STYLE? WHY IS IT THAT EVERY DISNEY CARTOON SINCE GRAVITY FALLS INCLUDE THINGS THAT GET MORE AND MORE FUCKED UP? WHY DO I FUCKING LOVE IT? WHY THE FUCK DID DISNEY DO THE OWL HOUSE DIRTY LIKE THAT?

2020s: I got this show I wanna pitch but it dosen’t fit into any box that the networks want and also I’m afraid that they’ll just randomly cancel it before I can finish the story I want to tell. Wait, I can just post the pilot on my YouTube channel, see if anybody actually likes this thing I made and just make the show independently? FUCK THE NETWORK! I AM THE NETWORK
