Common sense says that employees completing a timesheet and supervisors reviewing/approving said timesheet is an obvious expectation at a job, right?
Several weeks ago I meet with my manager and another high level manager to write a procedure that formalizes our expectations around timesheets.
I'm told it needs to be reviewed and approved by top management, so I wait.
Then my boss goes on maternity leave and I'm told that "project" has been put on hold. 🤨 It's literally just writing down what we already expect so there's actual grounds for discipline, and would take minimal discussion, but sure. "Project".
I continue to send out a weekly report that shows where people's timesheets don't match the schedule so I can try to pay people accurately.
Apparently it's now A Thing™️ where supervisors are getting in trouble if their people are on it (which seems like misdirected discipline to me) and everybody's all cranky about it.
But nothing should have changed! They were always expected to compare the schedule and the logged time!
But I'd feel way better about it if we'd, idk, given them a formal set of expectations BEFORE going after them???
#big boss and my interim boss are 'cracking down' on discipline right now#but theyre doing it in a way that feels a lot like getting rid of/impacting the careers of people they dont like#and i hate that i have no control over any of it including the one that im the default face of#work woes#but for real - if your job includes approving timesheets would you not assume you need to verify that theyre accurate first?

More pictures of The Shirt!
My projects keep being decided by random bits of nice fabric I find at the thrift store, and this time it was a big piece of 100% cotton voile in a spectacular shade of red that just looked like it wanted to be a dramatic shirt.
The fabric was only a metre wide and had nice selvedges, so I cut the sleeves and body the full metre wide, and it's fine enough that the bulk wasn't a problem. The rest of the cut and construction is the same as my usual 18th century machine sewn shirts (which I swear I will make an updated tutorial for before the year is over - the shirt post I keep linking people to is almost 4 years old and I've made improvements since then).
The fabric was $3, was in 2 halves that were zig-zagged together for some reason, bled a lot of dye into the sink when I washed it, and still smells a little bit weird even after washing. I hope the rest of the dye stays put because I really don't want this colour to fade.
I kept a timesheet for this and it took 13 hours and 12 minutes, which I think is pretty good. That includes the time spent making the 2 thread buttons for the collar.
(Also there is no drink in that brass goblet, only some dust and a small pinecone.)

Bad For Business: Level Two
Steve Harrington x fem!reader [2K] An enemies to lovers au. Arcade coworkers, who love to hate each other, get too competitive about Dig Dug and share a mutal annoyance for the kids that like to pester them. Choose your own adventure by picking an option at the end of the chapter. “I’m gonna need you to stay late tonight,” Murray said through a mouthful of his sandwich. You startled, realising he was talking to you. Robin sunk down in her seat, her eyes trained on her microwaved pasta. “The games are getting serviced, but they’re not gonna be done until, pshh, midnight? Maybe.”
“What?” You stared at your boss, your own lunch forgotten about. “But Robin was working that, wasn’t this already, uh, discussed?”
“Buckley has a medical appointment,” Murray replied, too busy staring at some coffee stained sheets of paper to give you any attention. “And I don’t like to pry into my employees personal lives, so, you’re it, kid.”
You turned, neck snapping to the girl. She was already grimacing, knowing fine well that you knew there was absolutely no appointment. Your friend had spent all week gushing about a date she had at the weekend, you just assumed it was Sunday, not Saturday, seeing as she was already on the rota for the late shift.
“Oh no. I hope you’re not too sick, Robin,” you said through clenched teeth.
The girl sunk further down, her nose level with the table and her lukewarm pasta. She had the good grace to wince and mouth ‘sorry’ at you, eyes wide and apologetic.
“Anyway, you and Harrington can utilise your time and do something productive, like cleaning the popcorn machine,” Murray waved a hand, distracted, knocking his coffee mug dangerously close to the computer.
The popcorn machine hadn’t worked since 1973 but you didn’t bother mentioning that, too hung up on the other name that Murray had lumped yours with. “Harrington?” You glared between your boss and Robin, who was now positively morose. “Steve? Steve’s on the late with me? No. No.”
Murray laughed, a mean cackle that told you there wasn’t really any point in arguing, but you tried anyway. “Murray, please, c’mon. Can’t Argyle do the late? Carver? Literally anyone else?”
The man snorted, finally turning on his computer chair, the wheels protesting and he was grinning at you, gaze amused through his wire rimmed glasses. “They’re busy.”
“So am I!” You attempted, voice cracking.
“You owe me approximately…” he turned back to his desk, rifling through the mess there until he produced what looked to be your timesheet. You bit back a swear. “…five hours this week. And that’s not including the forty minutes you were late this morning, so, I think we can compromise on you doing the late and keeping your job, alright?”
You didn’t say anything, just turning back on your chair to slump down to Robin’s level, arms folded and eyes stormy. The girl knocked your ankle with her own, mouthing another apology across the table, and if it weren’t for the fact she’d been trying to work up the courage to ask Nancy out for months now, you would’ve definitely have done something childish, like knock her pasta off the table.
But you didn’t. You were fine. It was fine.
“Make sure you lock up properly when you leave,” Murray reminded you unnecessarily, ‘cause that was Argyle’s bad habit, not yours. “And play nice with Steven - but not too nice.” He ruffled your hair as he passed, already leaving for the day despite the fact there was four hours left of opening. “There’s cameras everywhere, and some of them actually work. We don’t gotta see that, and I got out of the porn business years ago.”
Silence settled over the staff room as he slammed the door behind him, his last comment making Robin firmly push her lunch away. You blinked and stared at her, both of you thinking too much.
“Is he… was that a joke?” She asked, hesitant to know the answer.
“I have no idea.”
—————
Steve arrived as the last of the staff left, coming from his day off to spend the next six hours with you in the dark arcade, waiting for a team of greasy haired men to push some buttons on each machine, wiggle a joystick or two and then demand a couple of hundred dollars for their effort.
It was unnerving to see the boy in normal clothes, no real need for his staff shirt or name badge. His white t-shirt made him look even more tanned, sunkissed from the afternoons spent by his pool, the cotton lit up ultraviolet under the arcade lights.
“What time are they comin’?” He asked in lieu of greeting, heaving himself up to sit on the desk, narrowly avoiding the bag of chips you’d been snacking on.
You huffed, an annoyed sound that the boy was so used to, snatching your chips away before he could crush them further. You shrugged, moving away from Steve, eager to put some distance between you and him, ‘cause he smelled too damn nice.
Like sunscreen and summer, leftover chlorine and a cologne that was probably more than his last paycheck. It was annoyingly distracting.
“Don’t know, Murray said anytime between seven and ten.” You were already tired, draping yourself over the counter, used ticket stubs sticking to your arms. “This fucking sucks.”
“Didn’t you miss me?” Steve grinned, spinning on the desk to face you, his legs crossed in front of him as he leaned forward, taunting. He was good at giving you the eye, that gaze he gave all the girls, thick lashes fluttering, honey brown stare all soft and warm.
Too bad it didn’t work on you.
“No. But I’m glad to see you managed to pick up a sense of humour as well as an STD by the pool today.”
Steve laughed, unperturbed by your vicious comment. It hurt less when you smiled at him like that, all pretty and pleased with yourself, smug about it. “You’re particularly catty today, princess. Still not managed to reclaim a Dig Dug victory?”
“Fuck off.”
Steve grinned. Riling you up was his favourite thing to do. But all too soon, you were pushing yourself away from the desk, chips forgotten about, and rounding the counter. You sighed, looking around the empty arcade as if doing anything was better than talking to him.
“I’m gonna refill the ticket machines,” you declared, not looking at him when you spoke. “Murray said you need to clean the popcorn machine, so, Godspeed.”
Steve blanked, staring at you as you walked away, bare legs lit up in pinks and blues under the lights, your shorts a constant distraction for him. He hated them. “Wait, what? The popcorn machine hasn’t worked in fucking years.”
“Not my problem!” You waved him off before turning the corner, disappearing behind the chunky machines that had stood since the beginning of the seventies. “Have fun, Harrington.”
Steve let the service men in an hour later, the silence that had fallen over the arcade interrupted by mechanical beeping and the switching on and off of each machine. He hadn’t seen you since he’d first arrived and the fact that he’d only managed to get one rise out of you was severely disappointing. So he searched through the large room, navigating the rows of games in a way he knew all too well, each screen flashing invitingly, the promise of a new adventure stuck behind each one.
He knew where to find you, it wasn’t all that hard. But he still stopped to watch from afar as you bashed the buttons on the Dig Dug machine, swearing softly to yourself when the game didn’t do what you wanted. It beeped angrily, the screen flashed and a patronising ‘game over’ sign flooded the black background.
“You’re doing it wrong,” he called out, too happily.
You spun, scowling at the sound of his voice, his cheery negativity, his wide smirk. A sound of dismissal left your throat, annoyance clear on your face, but you couldn’t resist the bait. “There’s like, three buttons and I only need to use one of them,” you snapped, “how can I be doing it wrong?”
Steve joined you at the machine, leaning on the side of the bulky game, lit up by the flashing neon lights that hung above it. He was six different shades of yellow and orange, all golds and ambers and peaches across tanned skin and brown eyes. He was smug looking, eyes flickering from yours down to your fingers that were prodding at the button, bashing it furiously as you tried to blow up the Fygar’s that were in your way. The game beeped again, angry, and you were back to the main menu.
Steve’s name flashed obnoxiously from the top of the leaderboard, the number one beside it, setting your teeth on edge. You pushed another coin into the slot, took a deep breath and tried to ignore the boy beside you.
Steve only managed another minute or two of polite silence before he was sighing. “Jesus, look, like this, yeah?” His hand covered your own, the one hovering over the button and you froze, staring at him from the side of your eyes. “It’s about timing, not how hard you can mash the button into the board.”
You knew how to play. You were number one last week, you weren’t a novice, Dig Dug was your favourite game. You should’ve shaken him off, snarled something mean about men thinking they always knew best but you were frozen, still staring, looking at the boy like a deer trapped in headlights.
Steve pressed his fingers over yours as the game restarted, the tinny, electronic music beginning all over again. He was methodical about it, pressing the shooter only when the enemies got close enough, a vast difference to the way you manically shot on sight. But he frowned when he realised you weren’t moving at all, the joystick frozen in your other hand.
“C’mon, you’re not exactly helping,” he complained moodily. “S’wrong? Scared I’m trying to seduce you or somethin’?”
You scowled at that, shifting under Steve’s touch, glaring at him from where he still stood beside the machine; one, warm, wide hand still covering yours. His fingers were so much bigger than your own, swallowing your own against the buttons.
“As if you could,” you were quick to shoot back, but you ducked your chin, glaring at the screen through your lashes. “More concerned about where your hands have been.”
You heard him huff out a laugh, a breath through the smirk that seemed to always be on his lips when he was around you. He pressed your fingers down again when you tilted the joystick, successfully blowing up three of the little pixelated enemies on screen.
“Now, now, princess,” Steve’s voice was low, smooth. You hated it. “Don’t act like you weren’t letting Carver drape himself over you last Wednesday.”
You wrinkled your nose at the memory, not liking Jason Carver any more than you did Steve, but at least the latter didn’t invade your personal space like Jason did. The blonde boy seemed to think his old letterman jacket was a one way pass into a girl's pants, no matter how long it had been since high school had ended.
You had absolutely no interest in Jason, you never had and you told him as such on the daily. But it was still fun to say, “you sound jealous, Steven.” You smirked the same as him, letting your gaze slide to him from the side of your eye, watching as he frowned, cheeks rosier than normal in the arcade lights.
“Don’t flatter yourself, sweetheart,” he bit back, eyes focused on the screen, his fingers jabbing over yours a little harder than before. “You’re not my type.”
It shouldn’t have cut you as much as it did, a cheap jab, wrapped in barbed wire but it stung all the same. You sneered, a nasty thing, shrugging Steve off, his hand moving from yours and leaving it cold. You pressed the button alone, blowing up the pixels until there were none left and the level cleared. The screen flashed with a new high score and you tilted the joystick with more force than necessary as you typed out your initials.
Your name took first place on the leader board, knocking STEVE H. to the number two spot. The boy didn’t say anything as you walked away, his eyes on your bare legs, as usual, the taste of regret sitting heavy on his tongue.

I may have pushed a bit too hard at work; I suspect I'm either on my last strike or about to lose my job today.
What are they upset at me about? Accurately filling in my timesheet to include the time I spend there before the shop opens. They want us to be in 5 before opening and they'll take 20 from us daily for unpaid lunch despite the fact that we're also supposed to be open during that time, but heaven forbid I get in ten minutes early and want to be paid for my time onsite.
Unionize. I've been trying to get my coworkers onboard but it's too scary for them. Fucking unionize.

Heyyy I saw it comment in my post
How about Connor or Markus (whatever u want, I'd rather a one shot about one of both of them rather than HCS, or a mix!) just being at home with reader. And they see reader dying their hair and just interact w em and stuff (for example reader joking about getting poisoned with the chemical smell or sun)?
Hope you enjoy it!
I Love It When You Look My Way
He is 20 minutes earlier than normal.
Sentenced to unpaid community service at his old job at the DPD. Which was... Less worse than what he expected for killing two Cyberlife guards. He thought of himself jailed or, most likely, executed.
Sounds of gunshots still echo between his ears, of cracks and splattering of skulls of a life long forgotten. Sitting on a desk and producing timesheets and budget justifications for nine hours straight was a change.
You were a change.
The sound of your chough, horrendous throaty, it's a not change he's comfortable with, though.
He moves from the doorstep to the bathroom, and discards his jacket and tie. The apartment is yours, humble but comfy, silent for most. Your clothes, your things, and you.
Connor finds you with the face red and eyes watering, nose running up, and for the first time in a long time, his mind goes blank.
You're using an oversized old shirt, all stained with pops of color, half of your hair leathered with the same colorful hue. You're on the verge of a breakdown.
A dozen different chemicals on his HUD. "What are you doing?"
"The worst decisions of my life," you mumble back, trying to figure out how to position your arm to brush dye over your hair.
You're smiling at him despite the clear discomfort from the acrid smell. Welcoming him nevertheless.
"This is cancerigneous," he says, pointing at the box.
"I can get cancer from anything nowadays." You take a breath, setting the brush aside. Sniffling with your nose all red.
From slouching on the doorframe, he moves closer to you.
You never placate Connor. His hand twitch with the need to bury his fingers deep in your hair. Serious if not confused.
Before the revolution, people used to say that an android's eyes were like a doll's. Dulled out, soulless.
It's one of the biggest lies humanity has ever told. Connor, for instance, had the softest brown eyes by design, yes, but he's unique in the way his eyes shift to happiness and fondness when upon seeing you.
Sure, he knows why you're changing your hair (a little change never's too bad), but still had too many questions to answer. Too many to even formulate.
One wins through when he exhales out, "Do you want me to do it for you?"
You feel your hands shake, his eyes unmakes you with efficiency. Hair dye really stings the eye. "Yes."
And he reaches to you like his hands belong touching your skin. Open and full of love.
He huffs, taking the brush from between your fingertips. "I just need to follow the instructions."
Connor loves you. "Yep," you say, letting the tiniest laugh escape. "Just follow the instructions."
And then,
"You were coughing like a sick victorian child."
Too bad you like him just the way he is. Including accidental misshapes.
You giggle. "Thanks."
A/N: If you like what I do, please consider supporting me and buying a coffee!

What the actual hell?
A northern California restaurant chain will have to pay more than $140,000 in back pay after it ran a “shameless” wage theft scheme that involved a fake priest who had workers confess to any sins they committed while on the clock.
The owners and operators of Taqueria Garibaldi, a Sacramento-based restaurant chain, are also accused of threatening workers and fabricating timesheets as part of an effort to obstruct an investigation into the business. The US Department of Labor previously found that the company illegally denied workers overtime pay.
The labor department launched an investigation into Taqueria Garibaldi in 2021, at which point the business owners instructed employees to tell investigators that they worked 40 hours a week, were provided two days off and 30-minute breaks, and were paid only with checks, court records show.
Workers were also prohibited from using their usual digital attendance tracker and were instead told to write that they were only working 40-hour weeks on paper timesheets that were then processed by a third-party payroll company.
Employees did as they were told under threat of retaliatory actions such as firing and holding immigration statuses over their heads, according to the labor department.

2010 Car Launch
Sebastian Vettel | Driver – Car 5
Sebastian Vettel’s first foray into Formula One saw him fined for speeding in the pitlane during the first ten seconds of his debut. It’s fair to say he hasn’t slowed down much since.
Fame and fortune hasn’t made any discernable impact on Seb (“What fortune?” he asks, bewildered). He still gives his cars girl’s names, argues that there are more exciting things in life than driving Formula One cars (but not many) and is proud of being taller than Rubens Barrichello. He loathes being referred as ‘the new Schumacher,’ and so is relieved to see his Race of Champions team-mate returning to F1.
Born 3 July 1987 in the town of Heppenheim, Germany, Sebastian enjoyed a successful career in karting before making an immediate impression the moment he came into open-wheel racing. Starting the 2003 season aged 15, he won five of 19 races in his debut Formula BMW year, finishing second in the German Championship. The next year he took the title, winning 18 of the 20 races (he finished on the podium in the other two but doesn’t like to talk about them).
It marked Vettel as one to watch and he duly tested F1 cars for Williams and BMW-Sauber, while moving up through the junior ranks, impressing in Formula 3 and the World Series by Renault. Vettel’s chance in F1 came when he replaced Robert Kubica as BMW-Sauber’s third driver in the second half of the 2006 season. In addition to incurring the Stewards’ wrath, Vettel’s debut during Friday practice for the Turkish Grand Prix also saw him finish the day top of the timesheets.
While the performance on track was impressive, everyone was equally knocked out by the confidence and effervescence with which the teenage Seb dealt with the garage and Paddock. The authority with which he spoke and the evident self-deprecating wit stood him out as much as the blistering pace.
Sebastian finally got his chance to race a year later, standing in for the injured Kubica at the United States Grand Prix. Still only 19, he qualified seventh and finished eighth, becoming the youngest man to score a Championship point. Later in the 2007 season he moved to a permanent seat at Scuderia Toro Rosso. He made a lasting impression on future team-mate Mark Webber (and the rear of his car) during the monsoon-hit Japanese Grand Prix at Fuji before bouncing back a week later to secure fourth place at an equally waterlogged Chinese Grand Prix.
Confirmed for 2008, Vettel didn’t have the best start to his first full season and crashed out of the first four races, mostly as a result of being dragged into other drivers’ accidents. Fortunately the crash-magnet curse was soon lifted and Vettel scored points at Monaco, Montreal, Hockenheim, Valencia, Spa, Singapore, Fuji and Interlagos – though the only race anyone properly remembers is the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
On the back of a strong fifth place in Belgium, Vettel and Scuderia Toro Rosso went to Italy in good form. Torrential rain over the weekend failed to dampen their pace and Vettel duly became, first, the youngest driver to take pole position in Formula One history, and then the youngest race winner, having utterly dominated the race in which a rudder may have been of more use than a steering wheel.
Elevated to the senior Red Bull team for 2009, Vettel won his second, and Red Bull Racing’s first, victory at the third race of the year. He followed it with a string of podium and solid points-scoring finishes and established himself as a firm championship contender with a second, commanding victory in the British Grand Prix. He finished the season strongly with further victories in Japan and Abu Dhabi that, together with four other podium finishes, took him to second place in the Drivers’ Championship.
Definitely a follower of the ‘second is first of the losers’ philosophy, Sebastian has loftier ambitions for 2010. He lists his lifetime ambitions as winning the Formula One World Championship and beating Kimi Räikkönen at badminton.

Sebastian and the RB6
It was windy, it was cold - rain was just a matter of time. Sebastian‘s face was nearly covered by his Beanie cap, but despite the dark clouds he was in really good mood. The reason why? It was the moment when his new car was unveiled. Sebastian laughs: „Finally we are back on the track - the winter break was far too long."
Sebastian stands in front of his car and proudly he gives a short version explanation: „We were lucky to have the best of all cars during the second half of the season. That means we had a very good base right from the beginning, so we just had to develop the car. In contrast some of the opponents had to develop completely new designed cars."
The only real new part: „I got a new seat, it‘s like having a new chair. Beside that in general all the more than thousand parts of a Formula One car have been optimised. "I have a feeling I can reach my target"… So far I have not made a decision regarding the car‘s name. So ideas are welcomed.More next Friday: Today and tomorrow my team mate Mark will do the shake down and the first laps.
On Friday it will be my turn and so on Friday evening I will able to give you further information, about how the RB6´s handling qualities.

Jerez Test
12 | 02 | 10
JEREZ TEST – Day Three
Driver: Sebastian Vettel
Car: RB6 – 01
Laps: 59
Best time: 1.21.783
Circuit length: 4.423 km
Fastest lap: J. Alguersuari – 1:19.919
Sebastian Vettel drove Red Bull Racing’s 2010 championship challenger, the RB6, for the first time today, as he took over from Mark Webber on day three of the current four-day test in Jerez.
After an initial run on dry tyres, Sebastian was forced to use intermediate and extremes for the rest of the day as wet weather set in from 0945hrs. The team’s plan was to focus on aero-testing, but progress was hampered by deteriorating weather. By 1615hrs, conditions were so wet on track that Red Bull Racing, in line with the other Formula One teams testing in Jerez, decided to end the session early. Despite the weather, the car ran without any problems today.
Sebastian Vettel commented; “After three months, it was good to come back and drive the car – it felt okay and we didn’t have any big issues. Obviously the weather is not ideal for us to find out more about the car, but we knew the rain was coming so we didn’t mess around this morning and went straight out to do some laps. It then rained all day, but you could face these conditions in a grand prix, so it’s important to do laps in the wet. Overall, we didn’t do enough because of the weather, but I’m pretty happy.”
Sebastian will be driving the RB6 again tomorrow for the last day of this current preseason F1 test at the Jerez Circuit.
2010 Rider on the Storm
Sebastian Vettel | Driver – Car 5
"You can't influence the weather, we have seen that today. After a three month break, I was finally able to sit in the car today and it was good fun, I am still able to drive and the car feels good. This morning I did some (a few) laps in the dry the car went well straight away, but then it started raining and I had to park the car for some time in the garage. For sure it's a shame that it wasn't dry all day but also its possible to have rain in a race and so you have to learn to keep up with diffrent weather conditions. At the moment its still very difficult to give an idea of where everybody stands due to the new rules and the big tanks. The teams are driving with diffrent fuel levels and this also keeps changing. I hope it continues raining over night so that nothing is left for tomorrow and I can speed though all day, but as I said we have to see as we can't tell mother nature what to do..."

JEREZ TEST – Day Four
Driver: Sebastian Vettel
Car: RB6 – 01
Laps: 90
Best time: 1.21.203
Circuit length: 4.423 km
Fastest lap: L. Hamilton – 1.19.583
Sebastian Vettel was at the wheel of Red Bull Racing’s RB6 today for the final day of the current Jerez test. It was his second day of testing, as Mark Webber had driven on days one and two.
The team’s plan was to focus on set-up work and aero testing, although the weather once again played a part and damp conditions in the morning meant Sebastian began the day on intermediate tyres.
Conditions dried by lunchtime, but a fuel pump failure in the afternoon cost the team around three hours of dry running time. Sebastian ended the day with a final long run on dry tyres.
At the end of the RB6’s first test, Ian Morgan, Head of Race Engineering said: “It’s been a productive first week with the RB6, despite the weather and lack of dry conditions. We’re pleased with the car overall, it’s showing a lot of promise.” The next test will take place at the Jerez Circuit, starting on Wednesday 17 February.

Barcelona Test - Tag 2 (english version below)
Sebastian Vettel | Fahrer – RB6-01
Auto: RB6-01
Runden: 125
Bestzeit: 1.21,258 Min.
Während der Tests will man keine Schäden riskieren.
Barcelona Test - Day 2
Driver: Sebastian Vettel
Car: RB6 – 01
Laps: 125
Best time: 1.21.285
Circuit length: 4.655 km
Fastest lap: N. Hülkenberg – 1:20.614
The team drove its second race simulation, and at the end of the day Sebastian had completed 125 laps.
Ian Morgen, Head of Race Engineering said; “Today we experienced about a repeat of the race simulation that Mark drove yesterday. Everything went more or less according to plan. We again stopped the car during the simulation. This was a safety measure to control a few things. It was a small problem and we could continue soon after. Sebastian could finish the race simulation in full length before end of the test day. We ran many laps and are quite happy about the car.”
Sebastian Vettel said: “This was a good day – no large problems showed up. During the course of the afternoon we had to take a break due to a small thing, but that’s pretty normal with testing drives. On test days you don’t want to risk damage. For that reason it’s best to stop the car once there’s alarms in the background. Because it rained a lot in Jerez, we have a lot of work to do in the coming few days. For example we have to find out more about the tires and do a bit of coordination work.”
Sebastian Vettel will take the wheel again tomorrow before passing it back again to Mark on Sunday, the last test day.
Barcelona Test - Tag 3 (english below)
Sebastian Vettel | Fahrer – RB6-02
Auto: RB6-02
Runden: 44
Bestzeit: 1.23,123 Min.
Streckenlänge: 4,655 km
Tagesschnellster: N. Rosberg (1.20,686 km)
Barcelona Test - Day 3
Driver: Sebastian Vettel
Car: RB6 – 01
Laps: 44
Best time: 1:23.123
Circuit length: 4.655 km
Fastest lap: N. Rosberg – 1:20.686
Sebastian Vettel finished his second test day in Barcelona at the last test before the start of the season. The day was affected by rain. In the morning only few laps were run due to a mix of rain showers and technical problems. The afternoon showed to be more useful because the team worked on the race setup for the first race of the season in Bahrain. Sebastian reached his best time during the last lap of the day. Ian Morgan, Head of Race Engineering said; “After the nightly work in view of the program planned for the day we were late due to a few technical problems in the morning. After we got to driving in the afternoon, we managed to do three, four setup tests for the race in Bahrain. Those brought us clear results. Accordingly we finished the day in much better form.“ Tomorrow, on the last test day, Sebastian and Mark Webber will be sharing the car.

Barcelona Test - Tag 4 (english below)
Sebastian Vettel | Fahrer – RB6-02
Fahrer: Sebastian Vettel/Mark Webber
Auto: RB6-02
Runden: 137 (Vettel – 76; Webber – 61)
Bestzeit: Vettel: 1.20,667 Min.
Streckenlänge: 4,655 km
Tagesschnellster: L. Hamilton (1.20,472 Min.)
Barcelona Test - Day 4
Usually, my Tests would have concluded on Saturday, but due to the bad weather conditions I did not get to the distance I wanted. Because of that we agreed that I’d get back into the car Sunday morning. On Friday we did a race simulation where everything went more or less according to plan. Now we need to wait for the first race in Bahrain, today in two weeks, where everyone will drop their pants… We’ll have to work on our top speed until then, but all in all I’m rather happy with the car. By the way: I have a name already, but I’ll only share that one on my website the Monday before the GP…
Drivers: Sebastian Vettel/Mark Webber
Car: RB6-02
Laps: 137 (Vettel – 76; Webber – 61)
Best time: Vettel: 1:20.667
Circuit length: 4,655 km
Fastest lap: L. Hamilton – 1:20.472
After he spent less time on the track than expected, Sebastian was in the car in the morning, while Mark finished our preparations for the new season in the afternoon. Both drivers followed similar programs that the team successfully completed. The provisionally final setups for different tank fillings were found.
Ian Morgan, Head of Race Engineering, said; ”Because we lost some time yesterday, we couldn’t finish everything we set out to do with Seb. For that reason we went over more or less one and a half test days worth of work, which got us to 137 laps. That was a lot of turmoil but we managed to do a lot.
The last test went well for us. After limited testing opportunities on dry track during the tests in Jerez, the almost fully dry four days of testing here let us get back on course. During the course of the week we took great steps. These were very good test drives.”
Two weeks still separate us from the first World Championship race, the Bahrain GP.

Breakroom Spaghetti
Christmas drabble for @dustofthedailylife's winter wonderland event!
I chose Zhongli, obviously.
With the prompts of: "I think the power just went out.” & “I guess we’re stuck here until the snowstorm dies down.”
Zhongli x AFAB Reader.
SFW, Fluff, Office AU because yes please and thank you.
Not proofread, 2.3K words, weird title is weird.
Curse your inability to just leave things alone.
You were meant to go home an hour ago- wait no, a quick glance at the clock tells you that you were meant to clock out two hours ago, but the sooner you got these reports done, the happier your boss would be.
The sun had long-since set, the bright white-out of snow slowly drifting into a dark flurry outside your office window. You’d been so focused on getting this done, you hadn’t even bothered to turn on the lights once daylight had faded, likely doing some choice damage to your eyes as you continue to stare at the brightly-lit computer screen in otherwise darkness.
That is until the screen flickers and then dies, along with the rest of the power in the building.
Your work? Gone.
The groan? Loud.
What a time, what a goddamn time for the power to go out on you. You’re sure you spit every slur, swear and insult at that damn computer screen, offensively dark and lacking of your documents as you push yourself out of your chair, feeling several vertebrae in your back crackle and pop after hours of sitting in one spot.
Welp, if the power was out, now might as well be a good a time as any to head home, frustrating, but what could you do?
You just needed to pop down the hall to the front desk; likely no longer manned, your receptionist having gone home at four, always like clockwork she was - to sign your timesheet.
You barely make it two steps out of your office before you collide with someone else, only just managing to hold in your horrified scream.
“Miss l/n? What are you still doing here at this hour?” Now that was a voice you knew well.
“S-sir?!” you splutter, thankful that your boss was, despite his graceful, handsome, upper-class appearance, very casual with his workers.
Zhongli chuckles, you hear a rustling before his handsome face is illuminated by the light of his phone’s torch. “I do believe I asked first.” He retorts with a cheeky almost-grin.
You huff, crossing your arms at him. “Well, I was just about finished with those reports you asked me to complete…I figured I’d stay behind to finish them but then…well.” you motion at the darkness engulfing his office building.
“Ah, I see….you know you did not have to push yourself to have them done immediately, they’re not due until next week.” He points out, motioning with his head for you to follow him down the hall towards the front desk.
“Yes but…with the holidays approaching I figured you could use the break, the sooner things get done for the year…the sooner you can relax.”
Your boss hums, you’d always been rather taken with him…smart, funny, understanding…really you couldn't have asked for a better boss. He was always looking out for his workers, and that’s what made everyone want to work hard for him, they all knew he would look after them in turn.
Case in point when you’d broken your ankle not three weeks into being hired as a fresh-faced administrator. You had attempted to force yourself to come into work, despite your need for public transport (driving was scary, even without the damn moon-boot.) and the pain.
The moment Zhongli’s golden gaze had landed upon it, he had called a cab and sent you home, despite your protests that you really needed to work, honestly you thought you sounded pathetic, but instead of just telling you to rest, he told you he’d handle it. Sure enough, by the time you arrived home in your pre-paid cab, an E-mail was waiting for you, with a list of tasks he wanted you to complete from home, whilst also reminding you that your benefits included medical care and leave.
Even now, he simply smiles at you as he leans over the desk to sign your timesheet for you, adding in the two extra hours you had worked, and another for good measure, before signing it himself, ignoring your flustering.
“I know you, Miss l/n, you wouldn’t have charged your overtime.” He chides, and while yes, he was absolutely right, how dare he.
The rattling of the large window in the break room catches your attention.
“Huh…when’d the snow get so heavy?” you ask, Zhongli’s gaze follows your own and he quirks an eyebrow, quickly checking his phone before both brows furrow.
“We had best get out of here, The snowstorm is only likely going to get worse… come, I’ll drive you home.”
“O-oh no sir I couldn’t possibly-” You’re quick to try and politely decline, but he quickly shushes you with a single, serious look.
“I will not have one of my best employee’s attempting to brave the outside world to wait for a bus that has likely already been cancelled. Come on.” He urges, leading you towards the stairs (goddamn power outage meant the elevators were a no-go.) with a gentle, guiding hand on your back.
However, you both come to a stark realization when you reach the underground carpark, more specifically, Zhongli’s shiny black way-too-expensive-for-you-to-be-sitting-in car.
The garage doors were shut…and couldn’t be opened without…power.
For the first time in your years working here, you hear Zhongli curse.
Plan B was to catch a cab, first to your home, and then your boss would take it back to his; but another problem swiftly arises as you both emerge from the staircase and into the main foyer of the building.
The snow had already built up several feet against the doors…
You get to hear Zhongli say fuck a second time.
You sigh quietly, pulling your own phone from your pocket to check the forecast yourself…yep, that certainly wasn’t looking good… curse you and your inability to just leave things alone.
But if you had…then Zhongli would have been here, all alone…and that somehow doesn't sit right with you either.
“Guess it can’t be helped.” you concede as you put your phone away, wanting to conserve what little battery it had left. “Looks like we might be stuck here until morning..”
Zhongli grumbles, but eventually sighs, you only just make out his shoulders slumping in defeat.
“You’re right…come on.” He coaxes, leading you back towards the staircase to ascend, you don't question where he’s taking you this time, he knew the building better…he owned it.
However you’re not exactly surprised when you both end up in his office. A comfortable space, large and furnished with a few couches and comfortable chairs for anyone visiting or in personal meetings.
“Make yourself comfortable, we might be here a while.” He tells you as he fiddles with his phone “I’ve let the security agency know we’re stuck in here, but I wouldn’t count on them being able to help in this climate.
—
The night draws on, and you find yourself settling into a strange comfortability, Zhongli had asked you to help him shift one of the couches to face the window, so you both could watch the city below as the snowstorm rages.
You both talk, he talks of his days in college, working at his father’s firm first, before he branched out and opened his own, you talk about your own college days; living off nothing but ramen noodles and eggs, taking more than a little amusement in the look of horror on your boss’ face.
You both raid the breakroom like gremlins, the food in the fridge needed to be eaten after all, it was just a shame all of it had to be cold. You felt a little bad, but Zhongli simply waves it away, and tells you he’ll send out an email when the power returns…and buy everyone lunch the next day.
However, you’re taken off guard as you sit, munching away at what you can only assume is spaghetti,it was difficult to tell in the dark, when Zhongli opens his arm.
“You’re shivering, come here.” It doesn't sound like an order or a demand, but you were getting a little chilly; so scoot closer you do, glad for the shroud of darkness covering your flustery face as he pulls you into his side, removing his jacket to use as a makeshift blanket for you both.
“So…what were you doing here so late, sir?” you eventually work up the gall to ask, glad you didn’t have to look him in the eye. It feels…nice…when he hums as he thinks on his response.
“I was organising everyone's christmas bonus.” he eventually admits; ah, the yearly bonus…Zhongli was a strange one for that, asides from a nice amount of money, he also had a tendency to give a physical gift to his employees as well, last year you’d gotten a set of the loveliest tea…it had taken you months to finally open and try it because it just looked so fancy and nice…but you were glad you had because wow, what flavor!
“Oh really? Don't suppose I can sneak a hint at what my bonus is this year, can I?” you giggle up at him, only just making out his amber eyes in the darkness.
“Usually I would give you a hint, but it’s you that’s causing me the biggest problem this year.” He retorts, and you feel your stomach twist.
“O-oh..y-you don’t actually have to get me anything sir! Really, put it out of your mind I’ll be fine-” your flustered, anxious stammering is quickly shushed by a finger pressing to your lips.
“Absolutely not.” He states with such determination that it kind of spooks you “You are one of my finest, hardest working employees, and I want that reflected in my gift to you.”
Goddamn him.
“It’s fine sir…really.” You press “I’m still working my way through that expensive tea you got me last year.” “Oh? Are you enjoying it?” His sudden shift from absolute seriousness to what you could only describe as…curiosity is somewhat alarming, but not unwelcome as you nod.
“It’s lovely…I try to only drink it on special occasions but it’s so nice…where did you get it?”
You feel your boss’ chest rumble for a moment, almost like a purr as he hums. “It’s one of my favourites…It’s from a small-batch family business in Qingce…I’m glad you enjoy it.”
“I…wouldn’t be opposed to more of it as my-”
“Not a chance.”
Damnit.
You both once again lapse into a comfortable silence, his warmth, presence and scent all mingling so wonderfully, that you find yourself nodding off, trying to remain awake, atleast until a hand gently rests your cheek against his chest, stroking down your back and lulling you further into the realm of sleep.
“Rest…” His warm baritone is the last thing you hear before your eyes flutter shut.
–
You both wake with a start when the power suddenly flicks back on, every light, computer and thermostat blaring to life at once.
You’re saved from jumping out of your skin and likely falling to the floor by Zhongli’s firm hand on your waist, as you both rub sleep out of your eyes.
“Wh-whatimehissit?” you mumble, trying to hide away back into the warm darkness of your boss’ chest as he flicks his wrist, finally able to read his watch.
“S’two in the morning…” he mumbles back, just as sleep-drunk as you were.
At least with the return of power, came the return of the heater, a wave of fresh warmth washing over you both, only serving to make you sigh contently, nuzzling back into the crook of Zhongli’s neck with a quiet huff. Tomorrow you would definitely scream internally, but you and sleep had a precarious relationship, and you felt like you could still settle back into it like this.
“Bare with me for a moment.” Zhongli’s voice is softer now, and you vaguely feel his arms wrap around your body as he shifts and lifts you into his arms, his jacket still draped across your sleepy frame as he shuffles towards the office door, just to hit the lights and return back to the couch.
“S’not like we’ll be getting rescued until the morning anyway.” he mumbles, deigning to kick off his shoes before settling back down with you “n’ this is comfortable.”
Well, at least you weren’t alone on that front.
Rescue comes just after dawn, Zhongli’s phone ringing rather loudly, and shocking you both awake.
Thankfully there is enough time between his phone alerting him that security had finally gained entrance to the building after shovelling several feet of snow out of the garage door, and them actually arriving in his office for you both to look presentable.
Your boss gives you the day off, and makes good on his offer to drive you home. The car ride is a little awkward at first, not knowing how to bring up last night, was this something you were meant to talk about? Or was it something you just…forgot happened?
Zhongli answers that for you when he pulls up to the curb by your apartment building, turning to regard you with a fond look.
“I think I know exactly what to give you for your bonus this year, miss l/n. He tells you, a small smile tugging at his lips when you tilt your head. “Shut your eyes for a moment?”
“Really? What’re you gonna do, pull a puppy from the back seat?” you tease, giggling at the look you recieve.
“Humor me.”
“Oh, just for you.” You sigh, shutting your eyes.
You expect something to be placed in your hands, but instead a pair of lips press to yours for just a moment and you can almost hear the gears in your mind scream to a halt.
You almost don't believe it, and you don’t dare open your eyes until that pair of lips pulls away, and when you do, you’re met with the most charming smile from your boss.
“That and…would you like to join me for dinner tonight? Something warmer than breakroom spaghetti?”

today was a good day, too.
work was fine up at the school, although i worked an extra hour and need to include that on my timesheet.
when i walked in, i was asked by maria who runs the reception desk if it was my birthday, and i said yes, how did you know? and she turns to look at the tutoring corner and i see kristen and a set of balloons. turns out her mom got me balloons for my birthday and kristen wanted to give me her gift before we go out for dinner on thursday. she got me a bunch of mothman stickers and a pair of pi earrings which are super cute and i love them. i immediately put them on. they're perfect.
also while i was there i got to hold kristen's baby 😊 she's so cute. she smiled at me!!
working with nancy and the kids was a good time, too. i didn't leave until probably quarter of 8.
coming home i was able to make the deviled eggs that had been boiled and peeled yesterday, and after those were made i got myself some dinner. momma made vegetable beef soup, which is always good, but today's was extra good. there's always a little bit of a kick in it, and today's was immaculate. so good.
after finishing my soup and telling a joke to my friends (what did one saggy boob say to the other? "if we don't get some support here soon, they're gonna think we're nuts!"), momma rubbed my shoulder and my neck which have been hurting all day long. on my way home from everything i was like "great, two days into being 32 and i already don't work anymore."
but it's all good.
i've been talking on and off to leo since he woke up and went to work. since i am going to bed shortly, i did have to say goodnight, but i'm excited that i get to see him tomorrow. we're getting panda on friday again.

I’m on probation at my job.
The measures include:
No more wall-desk privileges -I am expected to take a desk in the middle of the landscape office for maximum social control.
Sending my boss an “expected tasks” list every morning and a task report every evening.
Commute to the office more days than the two I’m doing now, despite having to get up at 4:30 to be there on time.
This is NOT because I’m doing bad work. In this very meeting they repeatedly told me my work is impeccable.
This is because they see me being distracted too often. Doing non-work-related things. Being bad at filling out my timesheet. So… this is my punishment.
I don’t know how I can do this.
I don’t know how I will have hobbies, or do my household, or see my friends, or safeguard my mental health, or you know, *get enough sleep to not have a psychotic episode again*.
But I have no choice -I desperately need this job, I *need* the money, and I don’t have an outlook on something else. I don’t have the time or energy or money to re-school into another sector or job.
This job is going to crush me.
#disaster thoughts#personal#job stories#job stress#I’m so afraid to get fired#and they basically gave me an ultimatum#I’m terrified#adhd problems#living with adhd

Dear Sophia,
It's been a blast.
Just a few notes:
Get someone who knows ASIC
Don't be so pedantic over a $5 difference in invoices
Don't be so annoyed about the difference in timesheets and previous invoice
Try to be more on top of BAS deadlines/getting BAS's out faster
The prefill function for individuals sucks, get proper Jenette training for the new accountants using handitax or tell them not to use it
Don't be too proud that you got rid of [Irish accountant] she knew how to train new accountants and teach them how to order the papers in the files, there's no one like her. Not everyone is replaceable.
Get proper training for the new accountants on finalising tax returns (including entering things onto the tax return either by writing on the draft or entering on handitax)
Get someone who understands the handitax errors
Probably also proper training on sending out tax returns for clients to sign - seeing as I'm sure I'll be fired without any notice
Don't say bad things about your current employees
Don't say bad things about your previous employees
Don't spread who's getting pay rises around to the entire staff if not everyone is getting one
There's a recession in Europe
6 accountants and 1 admin is actually a really toxic combination for an accounting firm
Wait this isn't my Google documents I'm so sorry anyway enjoy :))))
#have a nice day Tumblr#love you#I'm really sorry#i can't help it#i need to make a list of all the 'advice' I'd give sophia when she inevitably gets rid of me#which I'd be too scared to tell her now#can't tell her how to run her own business!!!!!!!#i don't want to give her a reason to fire me#she'll find one eventually#whether she has to make one up or#who knows

Alonso taking energy from vocal home crowd as he looks to put on a good show following P2 in Friday practice
Fernando Alonso enjoyed a strong start to his home Grand Prix weekend as he placed second to Max Verstappen on the opening day of practice at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, describing FP1 and FP2 as a “productive” pair of sessions. While Red Bull driver Verstappen produced a record time of 1m 13.907s at the revised circuit, which no longer features a chicane in the final sector, Alonso lingered just 0.170s away in his Aston Martin. FP2: Verstappen edges out Alonso during second Barcelona practice session Offering his thoughts at the end of day one, Alonso said: “I think it’s so tight that one or two-tenths will put you in a completely different spot on the classification, so don’t pay too much attention on the times. “We went through all the programme that we had before the free practice, which is a good thing, learning about the tyres. The track is a little bit slower than what we predicted, so there is still more time to find, more tweaks on the set-ups, but it was a productive Friday.” Asked if Aston Martin’s latest updates – which include developments around the front and rear wing – are helping him, he commented: “They do, they do. Absolutely. “There is not a new part that we put in the car that is not helping the performance. That is something that has been always the case with the team from Bahrain. I’m happy with upgrades, and let’s see tomorrow, when everyone goes to full power, where we are.” As for the support he is receiving from the home fans, many of whom are decked out in Aston Martin green, Alonso made comparisons to his title-winning years with Renault and initial race-winning stint at McLaren in the mid-noughties. READ MORE: Vasseur explains Ferrari’s sidepod change and how it will ‘open some doors’ for future development “Yeah, 67% I heard of the merchandise on the grandstand is green, which is amazing,” he said. “This is going back to the 2005, 2006, 2007 years, where everything was in one colour. “I really feel that support, that special energy. It was amazing at the fan forum this morning. While driving I cannot hear them, but I feel how enthusiastic they are, so hopefully we put in a good show for them.” It was a quiet day for the other Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, who wound up 18th on the timesheets – ahead of only Williams drivers Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant – as he struggled to make an impression during his soft tyre runs. via Formula 1 News https://www.formula1.com

Don't mind me, I'm just gonna vent
So we just had our census over here and obviously it asked us questions about our jobs, including salary. I work at an accounting place as an office assistant/receptionist and for the last year and a half payroll person. I process payroll for 15 different clients, businesses with anywhere between 1 and 30 employees, with record management ranging from anywhere between full timesheets/spreadsheets and an email saying pay Bob for 4 hours. I hate it, it's stressful and carries too much responsibility for someone who has zero background in taxes and the Holidays Act. I only took on the additional work after the old payroll person went on maternity leave, and it was the second time my boss asked me to take on the role, so I felt vaguely pressured into it. However, looking at the census question about salary and seeing the salary brackets I realise I'm severely underpaid. They only wanted me to take the job cause I'm cheaper than a new hire, especially when they've got payroll experience. I kinda forgot about how low my salary is (I don't spend a lot of money, I pay my partner and he pays for everything) cause despite the fact that we process payroll for other people, we don't even get payslips and that also means I have no way to track my leave (apparently they track it in a very crude spreadsheet which was lost during the ransomware attack). I'm getting real sick of them taking advantage of my good nature and the fact that I quietly do my work without any fuss (cause they have zero culture and support, there were 3 of us in the office today, and none of us spoke). I hate the responsibility that comes with payroll, people yelling at me cause they didn't get paid cause their boss didn't give me their actual name and someone else was paid by mistake, bosses arguing with me saying an employees final pay has to be wrong cause they can't afford a $10k payout, while I'm having to Google the legislation to ensure the software has calculated everything right cause I have no idea. I am not paid enough to deal with this shit, especially as I process six-figure bonus payments and the client wants to skirt the law and not attract certain deductions for it. I want out of this job, and I vow I will never have to pre-process 4 weeks of holiday payrolls in the space of 2 weeks again! By Christmas I will be gone.
#I really nee to focus on applying for a new job#but I hate that is a job in itself#someone just hire me!#personal
