My problem with RR Deadpool isn't that he is different, my problem is that he's completely stripped down until all left is a joke.
A humourous funny character, a comedy movie for adults. All trauma played down for fart jokes.
Exactly of what he should not be. RR's character depth is a tunnel painted on a wall, Will E. Coyote style. You look closer and there's nothing but a ground where fans are to dig to find development. And don't get me wrong, a fandom can and will make their own version of that character.
No, that should not be considered a character. That's a flanderization, a parody at best. Deadpool was killed in front of all of us and nobody cared. Not even a "Sad Clown" anymore, not the butt of his own jokes because humor is his coping mechanism, no suicidal ideation, no sadistic ambitions, no cycle of doing heinous stuff and killing innocent people and then trying to be better again. Because killing is a way of self-harm. No "Deadpool makes everyone run away from him because he is afraid of vulnerability and is drowning in his own loathing". No "Wade self-fueling prophecy Wilson". He jumps straight into wanting to be a hero without a single smidge of hesitation.
Which is poetic justice.
Of course, in the end, he would be seen as a joke; a desirable piece of meat for fanfics; a narrative tool and nothing else.

Man, I almost drank myself to death yesterday, I can't even remember my name, if only there was someone that could help me.
The the trustworthy and saint-like lieutenant:

Y'know as i played Disco Elysium I felt like I couldn't write a fic based on it since I hadn't finished not even my first playthrough
Now I feel like I have missed a lot and need to do a second playthrough
This is ridiculous. The amount of praised fic I have done even if never directly interacting with the material is astounding but this game is simply so big the concept of writing gets me paralyzed

I love how you are so normal about tagging. While I think there is basic "etiquette" like don't tag posts with tags not relevant to the post but otherwise some of the etiquette lists I've seen seem to forget that tumblr is for fun. Like it's not a wiki or database
Yeah, I'm just not a fan of tagging "etiquette" on here because it's an impossible system to satisfy. The rules are made up, don't apply to everyone or every fandom, and change every ten seconds. A normal person just trying to use Tumblr would be understandably confused and put off from interacting.
My rule is, tag the post with what's in the post. Be conscious of some fandom disputes (hate tagging, controversial characters, etc) but don't let that stop you from something as simple as like, tagging a post about a character with that character's name.
We don't own tags, nor should we try to. You can circulate a million PSA posts and unless the change comes down from Tumblr itself (and is enforced) trying to control what belongs in a tag is impossible at best and stifles fandom at worst.
Also: let's say I'm entirely wrong about this take. Sending death threats and insulting people for using your tag wrong is one hell of a way to try and convince them to change their behavior, isn't it?

The obnoxious crosstagging in the snyderverse tags fucking piss me off.
I’m so goddamn tired of not being able to simply engage these films without having to confront the bullshit. Just once I’d like to be able to look in the tag, talk about it, and share material and not have to deal with some asshole shitting his pants about being too soft for capeshit flicks from a decade ago.
It’s like a culture war of mouth breathers outfitted with all the tribalist hypocrisies of political discourse.
anon that's....a lot of insults and name-calling over something as simple as tagging. I know it's frutrating, but more people need to accept that you can't -- really can't -- control how EVERY OTHER PERSON tags posts. and even if you could, insulting them isn't a great way to prompt change.
if you want 100% pro-Snyderverse posts, follow blogs that create that content. make a group, create a discord channel, whatever. build your own pro-Synderverse tag or space where negative discourse isn't allowed. but you're gonna find critical takes in the open Snyderverse tag. that's just how tagging works.
#same thing for ship tags. what else you gonna tag a post that is talking about a ship#if not the damned ship name#criticism is also talking. criticism is not hating. and even if I were to hatepost about a character#that's just how life is

imagine being a film director and constantly meeting people who say "oh i love movies! i watch the sound of music every day. i hate julie andrews and musical numbers though so i just mute the movie whenever she's talking or there's a song and invent my own dialogue about the italian mob"

Mainly, I think this comic is one you should read because you love Rogue and want to have some fun.
The character has suffered a lot, both in-universe and in the writing department. She has been cheated on, hurt by trusted people, betrayed and cast away by her own kind, all on top of having a power that denies her of a basic human need. (I won't even talk about some writers that make her a damsel in distress)
This comic came as a cup of fresh water. I am glad I have seen a comic, something canon, that shows her power as having benefits, as being part of her
Rogue is not only her powers but she is who she is because of it. All her compassion, empathy and love for humankind is enhanced by it if not a byproduct
It felt like a love letter for her.
I agree it could be condensed more neatly. And some plot points felt repetitive. But seeing her being able to free access other people's memories + see them manifest as psyche copies that have their own voices made me jump with joy
As you said, having fun and enjoying the character's portrayal on the story is the blessing of this run
Finally read Rogue: The Savage Land today!
I gotta be honest, I didn't expect much. I feared getting my hopes up only to get hurt, but this made me feel like Rogue had a personality again!
The narration in her own voice, subtle but important narration points. I loved how Zaladane was treated as a person, (even if I admit my aversion to magic made me skip many pages). It cleared the whole thing of her possibly being Magneto's daughter while also maintaining the connection in a more fitting way.
How Magneto was dealt? It was fair, above all else. Respected his backstory and the changes he made along the story itself. How Rogue affected him, how little it takes for him to be compassionate– because he is compassionate at his core, empathic, hardened by the world around him.
The story nailed Rogue's empathy by showing it to the reader. It didn't tell us "look how Rogue is empathic!" or, since it's in her own voice, "Look how empathic I am!". Her empathy is completely natural for her, she doesn't think twice before jumping into action.
Above all else, instead of just, Rogue is benevolent. To show mercy upon one who does not deserve it, who has not been redeemed, not in way that's tender or weak but courageous.
Aughhhhh man. Really. What a perfect work to get be through the week

this is so fucking funny
if you include this in fantomex’s canon, i think this may be the first time he interacts with magneto directly. i think the only reason he doesnt crush fantomex with the chair is because there are students in the room 😂
magneto, who later helps him track down his clones and puts him back together

i don’t get horror movies, why doesn’t the protagonist just act in a way which will prevent a story from being told or piece of entertaining media made

Superman desperately scanning the street during a fight to find the most morally acceptable car to throw at his opponent, knowing that not everybody has insurance, and loss of transportation can ruin a life -
A wave of incredible relief washes over him as he spots the hard geometric lines and silver paintless sheen of a Cybertruck.
