Tua s1: the apocalypse is a metaphor for a character having a violent outburst as a reaction to the abuse they’ve endured their entire life, and the abuse they then endure as an adult as a result. It’s a discussion on how you cannot undo trauma in a short period of time when it’s so deeply intertwined into your identity and your relationships, especially when the people trying to help you are so heavily formed by their own trauma, and how it can actually make things worse.

i am so excited to see this man in action for season 4. it's going to be full one tarot card, séance readings, all round witch shit. which is what i've wanted since day one.
the fashion, the vibe, the pose. beautiful. its giving klaus season one or the closest we'll get to season one.
and klaus season one will always be famous. the jewellery. the background, yes it dingy and grimy but im obsessed. i have way too many feelings on how good he looks.
i would prefer he had his curls but im willing to overlook it for this absolutely impeccable picture.
i am so excited to see him hopefully use his powers and maybe even enjoy using them. still worried about the damn tower tarot card but this. this is everything ive wanted in klaus.
when i think about klaus, this is damn near perfect to what i think. add curls and it is perfect.

So many people relate to different aspects of this fucked up sibilings trauma and at the end after everything they have managed to do and heal and work with each other and themselves , the final message we want to send out is “the problem was actually them all along so now it’s time to die”???

Man, I’ve been reading through the Commission Handbook, and while overall I think it’s just kinda neat, the few notes we get from Founder Five kind of break my heart. Some quotes from the Founder’s notes for those interested:
(Referring to a commission agent who keeps trying and failing to save her son using the briefcase) “She reminds me of how badly I want this crazy experiment to work. I want to go back desperately.”
“… Reading your thoughts on the Commission and our cutbacks has made me feel empty inside.”
“… I’m forced to consider if all of this energy, pain, and suffering is worth it. I’d like to think so, but currently the prognosis doesn’t look great. But you have my promise. As long as I breathe, I will keep fighting.”
(Referring to Five’s profile) “The way you write about this boy… or man, I’m not quite sure. It reminds me of someone I’ve lost… I think about the first time Five traveled through time. There he was, just a child, blessed with a power that was spellbinding. But when he used it, he was lost. Stranded in an apocalypse nowhere near his family.”
“If I’m being honest, I don’t remember my own name, it’s been too long. Now I’m the Founder, and that’s enough. Everything else has fallen by the wayside.”
“The Commission was a failure. Not for lack of trying, might I add. Golly, we did try, didn’t we? … In truth, we never stood a chance… Thank you for trying to save the world with me.”
Like damn, now I understand old man Founder Five we see in S3 who’s given up 😭
The person who wrote this book would’ve done a much better job at writing S4, this characterization of Five is much more accurate to the one we know and love lmao

Personally one of the funniest things about the aftermath of S4 for me is the amount of times someone has reblogged something I said positively about S4 before the season came out with something along the lines of "Hey op.....this is tragic but funny"

I think about how Diego wanted Lila, their children and her family to leave together. And how Five wanted her to stay and do what needed to be done.
It's kind of dark at first, you know, like - hey, come die with us. A lot of people would say that Diego loved her and Five didn't. But it's just such a strong theme to think about.
Diego loved her and their children, of course. He thought about them all being together. He thought about how they would be safe together.
But Five knew that if Lila left, she would face the end of the world with her family again. Sooner or later, she would face the same situation. And to save her family, she would have to do exactly what she was running from now. And she'd be facing death alone.
Five was trying to protect his family, just like Lila. So he understood her more than anyone! And he knew the truth. He was ten steps ahead in everything. In fact, he did it precisely because of how much he loved her. Even though it's so painful.
She could run away, again. But she would run away her whole life. And her family would be in danger. Five gave her the chance to at least save her family when he couldn't save his. By staying, her family never had to be in danger again.

I think Klaus's "germaphobia" (if we can call it that) and powerlessness go hand-in-hand. This guy found out he was immortal his entire life and died a million times. We know he was still struggling with his addiction for another three years after the reset, so my hc is that he probably OD'd, only this time, because he's not immortal anymore, he almost died.
Klaus is a very extreme person so it makes sense that as a result, he would go all the way in the opposite direction and now become overly cautious with everything. It would have happened gradually: he got sober, struggled to stay sober, probably came up with structures to help him stay on the wagon. This would have developed into OCD-like behaviour which eventually made him into a bit of a shut-in. Which is also why he's equating the marigold with a break of sobriety: if he doesn't have to be afraid of death anymore, he doesn't have to hold onto his sobriety anymore either.
The deleted AA scene rounds all this out quite beautifully. I do think the show didn't handle the storyline well but I get what they were trying to do.
yeah that makes a lot of sense! i do think that that’s what they were going for but i think it was just executed so poorly.

After rewatching season 1 of umbrella academy im halfway into my rewatch of season 2 and I’m just….. very confused about Allison and the way they NEVER mention Claire ? Not even once ? She just lost her daughter when the apocalypse happened, time traveled, and doesn’t speak about it anymore……..? Or maybe I’m missing something

im sorry i really hate all the people saying they liked the final season so everyone should take a chill pill
like stfu im glad you had fun but the rest of us just watched every reason we like this show get turned on its head and destroyed in 6 episodes
our reasons for liking this show are clearly very different which is fine but please acknowledge that what ruins it for us might not ruin it for you.. and unless you're engaging with us to discuss these differences or analyse why it did or didnt fail please just stop being an asshole?
you're allowed to like it just like how we're allowed to hate it but jesus christ leave us alone

A passing thought I had I guess because the name is less obvious (although that's really a secondary factor to the powers there) but anyways how do we think this would go

We don't talk enough about the scene where Allison talks to Sloane when she sees her mourning Luther and tells her he loved her "to the moon and beyond"

Ok but why is Five from umbrella academy the lovechild (both in terms of looks and personality) of Lockwood and George from Lockwood & co?
