the fact that Luther, Allison, Klaus, AND Viktor ALL found their soulmates in different timelines/time periods through their time traveling is just SO juicy and could’ve been such a point of emotional conflict in this last season??? If all the timelines need to be destroyed but that would mean erasing the people they fell in love with?? erasing Sloane and Ray and Dave and Sissy?? Characters who actually were important to the seasons they appeared in, and who were so crucial to the Umbrellas’ character development?? Why not honor them and those incredible relationships in the swan song??

i just miss those characters i fell in love with in season one. ever since season two rolled around they started losing bits and pieces all over the place and i kept hoping they'd eventually get them back but they never did and i never ended up seeing them again and it hurts it really does because whenever i see an edit or something from season one i am reminded of how fierce my love for them was and is and always will be and how unfair it is that they took them from me

my brain has recently flipped because when i first got hyperfixated on tua, season 2 was my absolute favorite. just because of the coloring, the plot points, the music, the general aesthetics, just everything about it, but ive recently realized that season one is TRULY something else and it will probably continue to be my favorite until this hyperfixation runs out

like i believe that season 2 is wonderful. it’s so entertaining and does every character the justice they needed and deserved. it’s just as silly and unserious and fun and sad and intense and i would not trade it for the world, but it undoubtedly feels like a different show than season 1.

season 1 is truly peak television to me. every single little tiny thing about it is perfect. i could go on about every thing they did right but i would genuinely run out of room and this post would be essay length because of how much i’ve truly grown to love season 1. the pilot episode in particular is, in my opinion, one of the best pieces of media i think i could ever have the privilege to consume.

it’s melancholic and sad, it’s nostalgic and relatable, it’s unserious and upbeat, it’s funny and it’s depressing, and it’s all at once. jeff russo’s score is ridiculously fantastic and i literally want to cry every time i hear it because it brings me back to the first time i watched this show and connected so deeply with it that i had no choice but to get completely hyperfixated. i just think that’s so beautiful

Maturity is realizing everything about tua, the writing, the characters, the story, the aesthetics, is S1>S2>S3>S4. I hate to say it but S4 being so bad did not come out of nowhere

you're laughing. The umbrella academy's final season destroyed every character's personal growth and semi-healed traumas, left huge plot-holes, completely abandoned some of it's most beloved side characters that were crucial in previous seasons and you're laugh-oh. You're crying. My bad. Go ahead. Let it out. Understandable.

something that i’d like to talk about is the scene where old five first sees himself, except in his thirteen-year old body.

this is a man who’s spent decades alone because of the mistake he made at the age of thirteen.

this is a man who found and presumably buried his dead siblings, the only people in the world he lived for, because of the mistake he made at the age of thirteen.

this is a man who was forced to kill other innocent men, women, and children in order to save the lives of everyone on the planet, because of the mistake he made at the age of thirteen.

he acts like he hates himself more than anything, and he makes it very clear that that’s exactly how he feels.

could you imagine making the worst decision of your life, a decision that could cause the end of all life and humanity, and then after decades of having to live with the regret, to see your young self again. the villain of your life and the creator of your misery.

but you were so young. you were so young and so stupid and you didn’t understand yourself enough to realize that you’d made a mistake until it was too late to turn back. and you really don’t want to hate yourself.

but you do.

can you imagine the pure rage? the hint of repressed depression? the unbridled wrath and the overwhelming sense of grief that old five must have felt in the moment he saw himself again?
