You’d been given the opportunity of a lifetime. Working alongside one of the greatest minds of your time was something so many young scientists could only dream of. Once Caesar took you onboard his team, you couldn’t imagine having taken any other path. He was known to the world as a villain, but you couldn’t disagree more. Not being able to sort through what was reality and what was a figment of your fantasies, you didn’t notice the gap between the two growing more cavernous.

What never was can never be (Caesar)

The extension of a hand was all it took, and you were pulled into the swirling clouds of madness and cruel intent. A young woman with a promising future: you turned your nose up at the ridicule for throwing it all away to serve this war criminal who chose to recognize an ounce of your potential. Although given sparingly, praise meant more coming from him than anyone else. An outstanding scientific mind like his plucked you from the batch of aspiring young scientists struggling to make a name for themselves.

Special—you knew you were. After all, you had the talent to prove it, didn’t you? With the scattered compliments came the critical undertones. Though masked as a means to help you soar to new heights, seeds of doubt were planted deep within the soils of your soul. It was in his nature that was what you told yourself, because you made the conscious decision to turn a blind eye to his less favorable side to bask in the welcoming glow that seldom peaked through.

However, those moments overshadowed the ones less becoming, for in them came the racing of your heart beating so fast you feared it would burst. Sitting close, his hand guiding yours, the laugh coming from him when your nerves caused an accident: he was clouding your better judgement. His dastardly flaws grew paler by the day, dangerously unpigmented representations of who he was behind the charm. Daydreaming of him transported you away from the chemical spill you were left to clean up by yourself.

An unlikely duo that managed to slip through the fingers of the colossal foes—a team. That was the term he used, but you were the one holding it close to your heart. After having spent so much time together, it couldn’t be helped—this hope that he would reciprocate your feelings. However, those rose tinted glasses distorted the pricking thorns as rounded edges.

How could you have known? His gratitude for your overwhelming sacrifice to help push his vision into the light of day was what kept your spirits high. Would you have suddenly had a change of heart if he’d given himself away? The little chats you shared with the occasional praise tactfully tossed in were what got you smiling. Was it possible to erase the image of him you’d built up in your head? The rosy world shattered, showing a bleak reality through the sharded gaps.

“You’re relieved of your duties.” The non bothered delivery disbursed the images of you and him that were floating in your fantasies.

Dumbfounded and at a loss for words, you stood in a daze, as if attempting to gather the romanticized figments separating further and further from one another. “Why?”

A simple question that didn’t go unwarranted but writhed under his skin all the same. “Well, for starters you cause more messes from your head being in the clouds than you do achieving results. And let’s not forget how much you dilly dally at cleaning up said messes.” The hint at your crush ripped your bleeding heart bare of its poor excuse for a disguise.

The flush on your face burned with a hot intensity. You wouldn’t have thought he was keeping a tally on each screw up you made or that humiliating dreamy look on your face. “We’re a team, aren’t we?” 

He huffed in amusement, remembering his own words perfectly well. “Even the most iconic teams cannot last forever that of which we were not.” The extra jab was unnecessary, and yet he couldn’t resist wielding its blade.

A threat of tears stung your eyes. “Why did you even choose me? Out of all the others, why me?”

Deep down there was a reason, but he’d buried it so far beneath his surface there was a chance it would never reach him again. “A lapse in judgement,” he chuckled.

Moments you shared, both of the good and the bad, flooded your memory. It couldn’t have been just you who’d felt companionship if nothing else. You continued to push, refusing to accept that this was all for naught. “No, no, that’s not true.”

"You're just a distraction...That's it.” The spiteful words pierced through your thick skin, their venom coursing through your veins and paralyzing you.

Choking back the emotion bubbling in your throat, the heartache was regrettably evident. “You don’t mean that.”

He turned towards you swiftly and with just one step, he was towering over you. “Oh, don’t I?” That wicked grin he wore so well spread across his pale face. “And I suppose you were expecting me to beg you to stay, hm? To tell you that I love you?” 

Striking you through your heart, the taunting lured out the doubt he’d planted. It sprouted through the newly formed hole like the weed it was. Completely distraught after having your world turned upside down, you were beside yourself. 

He gritted his teeth to offset his purple lips quivering more noticeably. “I’m afraid you’ve been reading too many romance novels, little girl.” Leaning away, he shooed you with a flick of his wrist. “You served your purpose. I don’t need you anymore.” He casted you out, his back turned to you, so he wouldn’t witness your departure out the metal doors. 

The bitter cold of the room finally reached you, causing you to shiver in the shadow he’d abandoned you in. Left to question the memories, the fondness illuminating them now beginning to dim. Left to question how you saw him, the man standing in front of you now a ghost of his perceived former self. Left to wonder if any of it was sincere, now too broken to tell anymore. Tears rolling down your cheeks offered the only warmth left to give.

“Surely you must have felt something towards me…” The murmur was a feeble attempt at holding onto that last shred of hope that Caesar Clown was capable of conjuring something other than deceitfulness.

His back remained to you, the shadow somehow growing more isolating. “Now you’re just embarrassing yourself,” he scoffed. He didn’t move, nor did his mocking tone falter, but his eyes shifted in an attempt to gauge your presence in the room. The sound of your footsteps hurried out of the door, and with them carried the muffled sobs of a broken heart.

The slam echoed through the room, magnifying his seclusion. An agitated frown plastered on his face and his eyes narrowed; your exit left an unpleasant mark on him. Only the faint hissing of the old pipes and clicking of the keys now accompanied him. His brow twitched for a moment, but he let out a long sigh to settle the prickling nerves. This was how it was meant to be—him alone with his work…alone with his work.

I still don’t understand how tf Eclipse exists, but I still like them. They’re a good contrast from Sun and Moon lol.

I finished these last night. Also I love the fact that almost all the fan content about Eclipse is them being scary and intimidating, but the actual personality is that of a little guy. I know we didn’t see much of them, but I know a little guy personality when I see one. Anyway enjoy the potentially 6-7ft little guy lmao

so!! i redrew every single enemy in the game. in the span of like 9 days (excluding the king i made him right after the last update). that’s abbbout 79* drawings total, with only 3 custom ones for once!! i’m so normal. as always, these are free to use with credit!! go nuts!! spritesheets are included <3

got some notes under the cut, along with As Many Enemies As I Could Fit without making this post obnoxiously long. and i failed. i had to swap between the app and browser several times and i still couldn’t fit every drawing. open this post at your own risk (silly).

okay so first of all. what’s with the asterisk. well. I Drew A Lot More Than 79 Assets Actually. they’re getting posted separately, because this post is ABSURDLY long. you can find most of them in the miscellaneous folder, but for a bit of clarity, i added the teleport map and a bunch of ui elements that reference sprites from the icon sheet. and also the game over and loop back animations but i haven’t finished the spritesheets for those because they’re a pain in the ass so they’re not in the drive yet

if you missed my complaining a few days ago, a few enemies might look a bit crunchy in the actual game? specifically, calamité and désespoir were drawn at the wrong size, because their images in the files do not match the spritesheets! i avoided the issue with most of the other enemies, those two just blindsided me. sorry about that!

^sadnesses having inconsistent designs was actually a running theme with these. détresse rock has an unused design in the files (which i managed to catch before having to redo it thankfully), anxiété has extra spikes that don’t appear on the spritesheet (sorry i was too lazy to fix that one), even the version of the friend rescue in the files doesn’t match any of the frames in the spritesheet. hfjfhfj. sorry about the quality issues.

tangentially related to that, massive thank you to @riggedbones for grabbing the individual frames for the animations for me!! they made my life so much easier. vs friends would’ve been so annoying…

speaking of the animations! hi can you tell i’m not an animator. these were my first time doing Anything animation related since, like, middle school. super sorry for the Jank in some of these! the friend rescue looked way better when i drew it 💔💔.

bourdon’s hands also might act a bit odd, my apologies. the sizing ingame is SUPER inconsistent (why is one of the hands SMALLER than the other????). once i’m able to actually test the mod, i’ll try to fix it wauaua.

the 3 custom sprites are for the triplets! i ended up making two versions for each, one that follows the ingame art, and one with my personal designs for them. i like my own designs for them, but they’re a lot easier to tell apart? so if you want to use the ones that fit the gimmick better, they’re also in the drive 👍

this update. was originally going to have way more custom art. i’ve actually got an act 6 siffrin enemy asset in my art program! but school started and i decided it’d be better to just get the normal stuff done. so the mod can actually come out in a reasonable timeframe. promise that’ll all come out Later! sorry about the wait 😓😓😓

also adding this because i almost forgot: no i don’t know if these are compatible with sasasaap. i don’t have the game still and it’s not my main priority atm, apologies!

hiii, I already adored your art from the comic of metal and hoki and married Kkgai - and to now see you put kkgai in founders time is giving me so much dopamine 💥 any chance you could elaborate on the dynamic between Madara and Gai ? :] how does he interact with the other founders ?

(Sorry I took so long to answer this I wanted to finish a lil comic I’ve been working on that basically contains what would have been the first meeting of madara and gai in the fic but that is going to take a fair bit longer so I hope you don’t mind me just answering with some doodles)

first up the dynamic between the founders, gai and kakashi is as follows:

The black haired guy at the top middle is kakashi he actually is in disguise most of the story because he’s trying to be really careful and not alter the timeline too much.

This causes its own set of problems when gai after being told by kakashi to stay put and not interact with anyone (gai was not meant to join kakashi in the past and they weren’t meant to go back so far so kakashi is a bit disoriented) mistakes madara for his eternal rival and interferes with an ambush to help him escape unscathed. Madara witnesses here the 6th gate for the first time and decides to kidnap gai and keep him as a prisoner until he’s figured out what the heck gai did to spontaneously get stronger.

Gai tries to figure out the lest future changey way of escaping and finding the real kakashi while madara tries to figure out gais deal generally. Eventually gai agrees to spar with madara on the condition that madara sends people to search for his rival.

Their sparing matches are actually really interesting! Gai is exceptional at countering the sharingan but madara is a far more experienced fighter both of them are a fan of a good fight so they actually end up growing closer through these fights (this relationship development would actually have been a large part of the story)it doesn’t help that they both remind each other of their respective rivals, so they sort of fall into a closer relationship than they would naturally because they both miss them so much.

Their would likely be dashes of madagai in this story but ultimately they’re not each other’s endgame so it would only really manifest in like madaras musings about what a world where they got together might look like. As well as the occasional crisis of faith from gai where he weirdly feels like he’s cheating on kakashi despite them not actually being together till the end of the story.

So yeah hopefully that illuminates the dynamic a bit more :]
