The wig had a lot more structure when I first made it, down to little pseudo-curls on the sides, but through multiple moves to college and back and to my current house it has...deflated. Please also ignore that he is not, in fact, holding the sword; I already broke his other wrist getting the pistol into it and didn't want to take my chances.

i used to freehand comics all the time as a child and since the part i liked was the drawing part i would just draw panel after panel because i didn't want to stop drawing to think about icky icky words, plus the story TOTALLY still made perfect sense! to me! and noone else, but 'whoooo caaaaares omgggg its not like comics and sequantial art are a communicative meeediummmm lmaoooooo'. i spent my entire childhood telling myself stuff like "oh pfft I know this story by heart- ill SIMPLY remember the dialogue and write it later" ...and. I can't help but admire baby maiora's (call that a minora ba tm tsk) fucking audacity? hubris? confident wrongness? kid couldn't even remember to finish the comics in the first place? INCREDIBLE levels of unearned self assurance, wish that were me, genuinely- what an icon!!! anyway i think i have forever cursed myself

Interestingly enough, there are so many different views on why Ace didn't run away in marineford, despite the fact that Oda tried to provide an explanation. It feels like I have barely seen the same conclusion between two people.

thinking about tetchou again and how by my portrayal he’s the first “hunting dog” but by the standard that i think that the experimentations/human modifications came first and the banding of the hunting dogs came later. meaning i think, at least for now that i would say tetchou was experimented/modified as a child and when they were successful the branch of research for a special division of ability users was created and the rest of the hunting dogs were sourced by fukuchi. we know that tachihara and teruko were likely found as children and that jouno had previously been affiliated with a mafia/yakuza group. tetchou just remains a mystery to me but i align his beginnings with being more like chuuya and verlaine. not in the same vein of testing but that he was taken from his family/found by someone after tragedy and exploited and formed into the first of their “kind” being genetically modified and enhanced special ability users.

I'm doing a reading for a class that I withdrew from. It's an excerpt from a book about teaching, and the excerpt itself is about the refusal to learn. The author goes into detail about the difference between refusal to learn and failure to learn, and about why refusal to learn is a concept with its own merit. The price of refusal and its reward are pretty intertwined - you don't get to participate as fully with people who do learn, which can be a wanted or unwanted thing; you are set apart in status from those who learn, which again can be wanted/unwanted; you don't have your mindset changed, etc. etc.

I found it a very fascinating excerpt, though I haven't finished it yet.
