Hello! I was wondering if you have something against your tunes being associated with fandom stuff (like if I feel it fits a character well and wanted to draw that character to go with the song). I'm wondering about shapes specifically.
Hi!!! thank you for taking the time to ask; in *general, not at all!! I find myself associating my own songs w other stories sometimes & I have to restrain myself from making them fan songs LOL

10th house ruler in the houses
Ideal career <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
I have made a post about the 10th house if you wish to know more about it.
1st house: modeling, content creation (focused on YOU, your opinions, your reviews, your personality), leadership/innovative jobs, anything that makes you shine
2nd house: becoming a chef, taking on lucrative projects, huge focus on accumulating material wealth, staying authentic and true to your values and making sure it doesn't fuck w ur emotional stability and stuff- no sacrifices
3rd house: consider working in a family-run business, utilizing writing talent, maybe something debate related, teaching elementary school/little kids, something mind stimulating
4th house: stay at home mom/dad or working from home, babysitting, having a more obscure job and being private about job matters, having a job that allows you to be family oriented as well, providing for your fam being a motivation of urs
5th house: art, creativity, modeling/makeup artist, hair stylist, social media manager, going with the flow, innovation, laid back/light hearted when it comes to duty, being quite lucky in the career side of things
6th house: administrative work, athletic field, diet expert or nutritionist, doctor, being quite involved in your work matters on the daily and taking it seriously, work relationships (coworkers, subordinates, superiors) being relevant for better or for worse
7th house: tbh I'm drawing a blank on this one 😭 I'd look at the sign of the 10th house buuuuttttt anything/anywhere that you feel comfortable as/in for a while should be good. This also indicates maybe meeting someone special at work? 👀 or working together with/creating a business with your long term partner. Also be aware of how ur relationship with ur business partners goes cuz it's important especially deals involving contracts
8th house: accounting, investment, stocks, real estate, finance jobs basically anything that involves other people's money and also maybe inspector jobs, detective work esp homicide involved (ace attorney vibes lol), performing autopsies etc u get the idea and we could also add occult related jobs as well
9th house: spiritual work, teaching individuals esoteric matters, astrologer, tarot, palmistry readings, jobs that allow you or even encourage you to be like a forever student and stuff
10th house: traditional jobs, CEO, career success is important to you and you tend to prioritize it regardless of whatever else is going on in ur life, any jobs that requires a high level of achievement and handling pressure with grace
11th house: social media related, working within a group, collaborative effort, compromise, maybe prioritizing other endeavors centered around making an impact such as activism, vouching for the oppressed and volunteering
12th house: therapist, readings, helping people work through their issues and do shadow work, alchemy work aka turning pain into power, also helping individuals achieve balance in the mental as well as spiritual plane (feminine and masculine energy for example) etc
Tumblr media
Of course this is very general!! You need to look at loaaaads of other stuff but yeah comment down below your 10th house placements
Thank you for reading <3

Dorian and Seeking Reassurance
so I was going to include this in the reblog to the post by @applestorms, but it got too long so I'm making a separate post about this.
While Dorian mainly hides the proof of his "sins" away from the world, he actually does ask for reassurance for them too! To an extent.
Specifically, at at least two points in the novel, he does try to seek reassurance from Lord Henry about the things he's feeling guilt about.
[longish TPoDG analysis on Dorian & OCD w/ comparison to Death Note below the cut. please watch out for major spoilers for the book]
In the first case:
“Harry,” cried Dorian Gray, coming over and sitting down beside him, “why is it that I cannot feel this tragedy as much as I want to? I don’t think I am heartless. Do you?” “You have done too many foolish things during the last fortnight to be entitled to give yourself that name, Dorian,” answered Lord Henry with his sweet melancholy smile. The lad frowned. “I don’t like that explanation, Harry,” he rejoined, “but I am glad you don’t think I am heartless. I am nothing of the kind. I know I am not. And yet I must admit that this thing that has happened does not affect me as it should. It seems to me to be simply like a wonderful ending to a wonderful play. It has all the terrible beauty of a Greek tragedy, a tragedy in which I took a great part, but by which I have not been wounded.” “It is an interesting question,” said Lord Henry, who found an exquisite pleasure in playing on the lad’s unconscious egotism, “an extremely interesting question. I fancy that the true explanation is this: It often happens that the real tragedies of life occur in such an inartistic manner that they hurt us by their crude violence, their absolute incoherence, their absurd want of meaning, their entire lack of style. [...] Sometimes, however, a tragedy that possesses artistic elements of beauty crosses our lives. If these elements of beauty are real, the whole thing simply appeals to our sense of dramatic effect. Suddenly we find that we are no longer the actors, but the spectators of the play. Or rather we are both. We watch ourselves, and the mere wonder of the spectacle enthralls us. In the present case, what is it that has really happened? Some one has killed herself for love of you. I wish that I had ever had such an experience. It would have made me in love with love for the rest of my life. [...]”
Okay I'm not going to post all of the next few paragraphs (since that's too much text) but basically:
At first Dorian still feels guilty and so Henry continues to try to comfort him in his own way... a questionable way at that, specifically by expanding on the "explanation" he raises (as you can see above), according to which the reason why Dorian is incapable of feeling more strongly and more sorry about Sybil's death is that this is but a beautiful artistic tragedy -- that Sybil Vane was hardly really that real in the first place -- that women appreciate cruelty and dominance -- and that her death makes her whole existence beautiful as the final act of her play.
And then... Alright, let's look at how Dorian "comes to terms" with his inability to feel more grief or empathy for her (he can feel GENERAL guilt/shame and he feels it very strongly, but like... he can't really feel emotional empathy for Sybil if that makes sense, and it's bothering him until it's not [1]) at last.
“You said to me that Sibyl Vane represented to you all the heroines of romance—that she was Desdemona one night, and Ophelia the other; that if she died as Juliet, she came to life as Imogen.” “She will never come to life again now,” muttered the lad, burying his face in his hands. “No, she will never come to life. She has played her last part. But you must think of that lonely death in the tawdry dressing-room simply as a strange lurid fragment from some Jacobean tragedy, as a wonderful scene from Webster, or Ford, or Cyril Tourneur. The girl never really lived, and so she has never really died. To you at least she was always a dream, a phantom that flitted through Shakespeare’s plays and left them lovelier for its presence, a reed through which Shakespeare’s music sounded richer and more full of joy. The moment she touched actual life, she marred it, and it marred her, and so she passed away. Mourn for Ophelia, if you like. Put ashes on your head because Cordelia was strangled. Cry out against Heaven because the daughter of Brabantio died. But don’t waste your tears over Sibyl Vane. She was less real than they are.” There was a silence. The evening darkened in the room. Noiselessly, and with silver feet, the shadows crept in from the garden. The colours faded wearily out of things. After some time Dorian Gray looked up. “You have explained me to myself, Harry,” he murmured with something of a sigh of relief. “I felt all that you have said, but somehow I was afraid of it, and I could not express it to myself. How well you know me! But we will not talk again of what has happened. It has been a marvellous experience. That is all. I wonder if life has still in store for me anything as marvellous.” “Life has everything in store for you, Dorian. There is nothing that you, with your extraordinary good looks, will not be able to do.”
........so does this excerpt remind you of anything? Because it does remind me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
....yep.
This was what I meant by this (specifically the "OCD guilt can't catch me if my ego is big enough" part) lol:
"oh fuck. what the fuck. fuck I did that" -> "I feel awful. I did a horribly wrong thing" -> "..." -> "no, urgh, wait" -> "actually, that was... definitely a good thing!" -> "yeah. them dying was fine because they should've been killed and/or they're not real" (it's dehumanization either way) -> "that's right! I did a good thing. a very good thing. that was what I wanted all along. it was incredible, actually! it was a rare and unusually good event"
also interesting to note in this case is that, Dorian's rationalization process is aided by Henry, while Light did the whole thing on his own.
[1] On that note, Dorian's not being able to feel as much emotional empathy as he wants may be a result of NPD or something similar. And the thing is, not being able to feel affective/emotional empathy is not a choice, and it isn't in itself anything that inherently makes him bad. However, ironically, Henry's way of helping him out of his guilt over his inability to feel it for Sybil DOES lead Dorian to adopt a messed up way to view things. Like... the "right"(?) lesson here would be "it's okay that you don't emotionally feel grief and empathy over this, it doesn't inherently make you a bad person", but instead, Dorian learns "it's not just 'okay' to feel no grief and empathy over this, it's that that's literally THE right way of reacting to this tragedy! Because Sybil literally wasn't even real in the first place, her death is such beautiful theatre. There was literally nothing for ANYONE to feel grief or empathy over, and it was great how much you made her suffer."
In the second case:
“What would you say, Harry, if I told you that I had murdered Basil?” said the younger man. He watched him intently after he had spoken. “I would say, my dear fellow, that you were posing for a character that doesn’t suit you. All crime is vulgar, just as all vulgarity is crime. It is not in you, Dorian, to commit a murder. I am sorry if I hurt your vanity by saying so, but I assure you it is true. Crime belongs exclusively to the lower orders. I don’t blame them in the smallest degree. I should fancy that crime was to them what art is to us, simply a method of procuring extraordinary sensations.” “A method of procuring sensations? Do you think, then, that a man who has once committed a murder could possibly do the same crime again? Don’t tell me that.” “Oh! anything becomes a pleasure if one does it too often,” cried Lord Henry, laughing. “That is one of the most important secrets of life. I should fancy, however, that murder is always a mistake. One should never do anything that one cannot talk about after dinner. But let us pass from poor Basil. [...]” Dorian heaved a sigh, and Lord Henry strolled across the room and began to stroke the head of a curious Java parrot, a large, grey-plumaged bird with pink crest and tail, that was balancing itself upon a bamboo perch. [...]
This is less obvious of a case, but here Dorian does suggest to Henry the possibility that he might've murdered Basil to see how he would react.
Dorian is disappointed after Henry is like "You? No way, duh", which suggests that he actually wished Henry would seriously consider the possibility so that Dorian can either like feel a bit better from confessing his own crime to a party that is not judgmental, or be reassured by him that it's okay too; or both (see: Henry previously was... VERY accepting of Dorian being a major part of the cause for Sybil's death).
His attempt at seeking reassurance fails completely, however, just like Light's attempt for Soichiro and others to accept Kira and everything, because Henry does not believe Dorian to be a person capable of murder and refused to believe that Basil could've been murdered in the first place.
but yeah tl;dr: Dorian Gray sure is an accidental OCD allegory like Light Yagami. very intriguing

Do you have fursona designing advice
HMMMM WELL while i've gone through quite a few sonas throughout the years (mostly different animals including but not limited to: a bumblebee/bear hybrid, a cat, a tiger, a dragon, etc) my current sona is the one i put the most thought into. that being said, my guy is 1) pretty basic in terms of colors and patterns, 2) about as self-indulgent as it gets =w= some people go off the rails with their details and i think that's awesome, but i came to realize that i wouldn't identify as strongly with my sona if it looked too otherworldly if that makes sense
a few tips based on this:
think about whether you want your fursona to be a representation of your ideal/alternate self, or more just like a character of their own. this might make it easier to decide on the aesthetic!! because personally while i Love me a good pastel sparkledog, that wouldn't feel as accurate for myself
DON'T BE INTIMIDATED WHEN IT COMES TO PICKING A SPECIES. this can be difficult sometimes, but try not to stress over it too much. you don't even have to limit yourself to a real life animal! there are no rules, make up your own funky species if you want! combine elements of your favorite animals to get the best of both worlds! and who's to say you can't just change their species later if you get bored? they'll love you all the same!!
can't/don't want to draw them yourself? lots of furry artists out there (especially those that do reference sheet commissions) are willing to help you figure out a proper design as long as you can provide a few basic ideas (that's what i did!) tbh this goes for commissions in general but i can't stress this enough: don't feel embarrassed about sending in a 3-minute ms paint doodle, or a color palette, or an image collage, or ANYTHING else to the artist you're commissioning!!! in my experience people tend to be cool with it, and i know it's wayyy more helpful than text descriptions alone. seriously, compile whatever visual references you can find, i'm sure they'd be happy to help you figure out the design!
have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

tangentially animal-related hcs 4 the mean girls crew bc i am now responsible for giving a goldfish daddy issues
cady
inexplicably allergic to dogs and always in the first four stages of grief about it. don’t @ me about the medical semantics i just want her to suffer a little
tried to get a job at petco the second she turned eighteen but learned of the above information in the most destructive job interview since janis’s application to be the local coffee shop’s cool gay barista (they were worried that she’d swear at fighter-jet-takeoff volumes if she touched hot coffee) (she did, but only because they started playing a shitty pop cover of one of damian’s fave show tunes) and came out of the building a puddle of mucous and tears
grossly fascinated by the grossest of primitive functions. her insta page is all dope and authentic until you find a selfie taken using the back camera 0.5x with the corpse of an effervescent snail and a bunch of reels telling you how to narrow down what bird species are destroying your garden by the splay of their shit
has a miniature aneurysm whenever movies get stuff wrong about animals. artistic liberties are granted to janis alone. like sure if she’s in the theater she’ll sit through the movie fisting popcorn down her throat but as soon as she gets out of there the entire mall becomes a soapbox for dissecting the bullshit sexual dimorphism of giving female animals eyeliner
thus while i know the headcanon of her loving the lion king is basically canon i think she’s absurdly secretive about it. like she’s burying her merchandise and blu-ray copies under her bed in the dead of night while secreting more sweat than should be possible. she could come out to her parents and elope to antarctica no problem but liking the lion king which implies that lighter manes = stronger lions is a death sentence
probably got banned from a bunch of zoos for interrupting field trips
janis
had one of those angel/wolf/dragon/whatever hybrid phases as a kid like all good artists. did those like. not quite furry but not quite human animal art commissions on twitter for a while for the funnies but discovered a lucrative market and never turned back
does not know how to hold human or animal babies. like she’s good at taking care of them in terms of general physical and intellectual nourishment but that limp wrist is not supporting any necks properly
mercilessly makes fun of the whole “would you love me if i was a worm” trend. she doesn’t even love most humans what makes you think she has any answer for you regarding that other than that she’d turn you into a super deep art piece museums would purchase for exorbitant amounts
that being said she feels like a vivarium girlie to me. she’s nocturnal like a pillbug and post-canon constantly tries to convince the plastics that her pacman frog is poisonous
feeds her meticulously decorated ant farm gourmet meals every day. anyone else gets microwavable mac and cheese at best
this one probably won’t make sense unless you’re a jenny nicholson fan but she has a fake id for buying wine and turning the corks into those hallmark craft animal sculptures (and selling the open wine bottle to mrs george in back alleys)
damian
his grandma owns the most omnicidal chihuahua in the state of chicago. it’s how he learned to dance with such mental and physical dexterity. how else would he have survived visits to the nursing home
^ attempted to adopt the chihuahua’s children to have his own bruiser woods moment. turns out, even with his classically trained tenor voice, puppies and janis respond to the “drop it” command much the same way. that is to say they do not drop it and the puppies ran away with ninety nine per cent of his anastasia-inspired music box memorabilia
has a love-hate relationship with cats the musical. like memory is one of his top ten karaoke songs but he’s not going to admit it until he’s several fruity seltzers into the night. wishes all the actors in the movie had been replaced with real cats picked off the street before anything else was approved
played milky white in a scammy local production of into the woods and so so so embarrassed about it. he had to be on stilts the whole show
stuck a fish in regina’s backpack sometime in sophomore year but found karen feeding it and talking to it about her worst fears and greatest dreams felt too guilty to continue with the next phase of his plan (sticking a very hot picture of janis in regina’s backpack) (karen probably would’ve tried to talk to the photo too)
regina
musical specific but i think she didn’t Exactly do a matching animal costume with gretch and karen because 1) what can you dress up as when your friends are going as a cat and a mouse. cheese? 2) had cady not moved into the neighborhood, she’d have gone as a sexy lion to ease into the prospect of. you know. with shane oman but going as a sexy lion when your shiny new homoerotic frenemy has a lion pin on half her clothing isn’t quite a non-questionable choice
had a warrior cats phase she keeps under lock and key in the very depths of her closet. her closet is an iceberg of issues that goes shein -> homosexuality -> warrior cats and climate change is doing a number on it
fried a couple of janis’s ants alive with a magnifying glass sometime before middle school. she’s never flirted normally in her life
the bulk of janis’s furry commission clientele. she has so many emails for alternate accounts that she could get every american president ever suspended from twitter if national security let her. that’s including the dead ones
remember the nigh-rabid chihuahuas damian had. yeah she’s been raising those in secret for a few years now. mrs george doesn’t notice because regina hides them in her hair and extensions are, like, totally in or whatever
had a horse girl phase. all her drawings of horses came out like this meme tho. the art freaks nickname was born out of jealousy
gretchen
chose to be a sexy cat for halloween to match with karen because she has no sense of identity. also because she remembers regina’s warrior cats phase
actually a guinea pig person. i’ve never met a guinea pig person but she feels like one. they’re both in dire need of daily interaction and likely polyamorous
but also peri-canon gretchen could not keep a pet alive she’d spend every cent of the wieners fortune on buying the animal’s love
speaking of. her family bought a stable to fuel “her” horse girl phase. she just wanted to make regina happy and couldn’t stay on a saddle if there was an escalator that plopped her right on the horse
cares about the puppy bowl more than she cares about the superbowl
instinctively pets cute animals. if they bite her then she deserved it
karen
chose to be a sexy mouse for halloween because tom and jerry was having a media marathon and she’s into that sort of power dynamic
believes in unicorns more than she believes in horses. this is because she had a horse girl phase for the hottest of seconds before realizing that none of the ponies at the apache trail sale had horns and thought they had their horns cut off for aesthetic reasons
animals love her so much. survived a jellyfish attack because the jellyfish sensed she just wanted to pet something shiny and absolutely respected that. pests of all shapes and sizes evict themselves stat when karen says her mom doesn’t appreciate her hundred thousand dollar lotions being invaded by peril-bringing insects. strays follow her 24/7. gretchen is jealous (of the animals)
thinks tigers are very sick zebras
thinks blobfish are cuter when they’re all flesh putty out of their natural habitats but would also break into a zoo if she thought the animals were being mistreated
was banned from australia at the age of eight because she tried to have a sleepover in a kangaroo’s pouch
aaron
mean girls insta described him as a golden retriever so i’m also hcing him as being allergic to dogs <3 equality
becomes deeply fearful of all fauna after falling into a research rabbit hole for the sake of connecting with cady. what do you mean buffalo are some of the deadliest beasts on the planet and not just a type of chicken wing
kevin g
a preteen vsco girl in her granola advocacy era stuck in a teenage boy’s body. he has saved more turtles than any natucate volunteer by repurposing his rejected business cards to make a selfie stick long enough to stick him in the same selfie as gretchen wieners. the selfie stick has been in progress since daycare. he has also gone to the hospital more than any natucate volunteer do not trust this man with shop class equipment

Current thoughts on HOTD
(i.e. the disappointment, the choice not to hate watch the show, and my continued appreciation for the fandom itself)
So I'm admittedly done with the show itself... I can tolerate quite a bit of lackluster writing when I love the concept or certain characters enough- seriously I watched all of the original 9 seasons of the x files (+ the films) even when it had pretty much abandoned the monster of the week format I loved, got extremely convoluted in terms of its plot/conspiracies, and most of the original cast wasn't even around anymore- but sometimes a show declines in quality so much I'm too discouraged to want to continue watching.
S1 already had issues but the inconsistencies in plot/messages/characterization and the strange changes writer's have made to the source material in S2 all sort of converged to make a show that is ultimately not just generally disappointing but now is outright unimpressive and unwatchable (side note i feel so bad for the cast they're working their ass off and the writer's are just giving them literal garbage).
I'm just not a person who really enjoys hate watching stuff? Like no judgement if you want to continue watching or if you do choose to hate watch- do what makes you happy- it's just not something I personally would choose to spend my time on- if a show doesn't even interest me to begin with or nothing about a show makes me happy anymore I'm not going to watch it. (With many of the better shows out there getting unfortunately canceled so quickly I'd rather spend my time watching enjoyable shows while they are still around- I know I'm just one viewer and likely I make zero difference in the scheme of things but I just don't want to be part of a viewership that encourages studios to cancel well written but less popular shows and continue with the poorer quality shows because hate/outrage inspired so much viewership... I think it's just that this business practice pisses me off enough that I don't want to be a part of it or reminded of it)
So for HOTD I'm not personally continuing with the show I'm just going to rely on the braver souls in this fandom to show me how crazy things get - at this point it feels like for my sanity there is nothing left to do but laugh at how bad these showrunners are ruining their story/characters and otherwise just move on and watch other things.
When it comes to fandom side of things well I'll quote myself from a different hotd post for a moment..."disappointing or poorly written shows are not without their appeal for participating in fandom (i.e. making, viewing, or sharing the art, writing, metas, or other content inspired by the show) particularly when there is a handful of interesting characters (looking at you book/S1 HOTD's team green) that fans want to rescue from the terrible writing/butchering by the showrunners ... sometimes it is even one of the most appealing sort of set ups for fandom to take over and fix things."
So I will absolutely continue to appreciate the general efforts of HOTD fandom (writers, artists, gif makers, etc.) and I will continue to seek out/like/reblog/comment on fan works as well as the many well thought out/eloquent metas and write ups fans put out about this show.
To paraphrase once again from one of my other hotd post "The juxtaposition between how underwhelming and juvenile the showrunner's storytelling choices are compared to how eloquently fans interpret, analyze, deconstruct, criticize or even defend the show and it's characters is absolutely wild...a not insignificant amount of hotd fandom puts in more time, effort, and thought into hotd than ANY of the showrunners/writers."
While I was admittedly intrigued by select characters of hotd my desire and decision to participate in hotd fandom really came down to the amazing efforts of fans who analyzed the show, wrote incredible metas on it's characters, and who made their own transformative stories and art based on hotd.
So in conclusion I'm done with watching the show, I hate everything the showrunners are choosing to do (the audience deserved a better story/show), I feel so bad for the cast and wish the characters hadn't been massacred by these writers (Alicent, Aemond, Helaena, Aegon, and the rest of team green all deserved better writing, i.e. consistent and coherent characterization or you know getting time on screen/together in general, all characters deserved better than being reduced to props for this strange pro targ/pro Rhaenyra storyline the showrunners have made up, hell even Rhaenyra herself deserved better writing),
I will continue to think about the "what ifs" that come up around this ... (what this story and these characters could have become in the hands of better writers) and I will always still appreciate/comment on and reblog fandom efforts themselves (whether you continue to participate in hotd fandom or are done with it just know that even though the writer's suck and the show has just gotten worse and worse, and the few character's we liked are getting destroyed by the writing, I still admire everybody I encountered in the little niche of the hotd fandom I have participated and appreciate what you all contribute to hotd fandom.
AND I will continue my own little additions to said fandom-i still have hotd inspired art coming soon and while I'm done with the show itself I intend to steal away the shiny things I liked from hotd (certain intriguing characters and the possibilities that could have existed if this had been adapated better) and continue to enjoy them while I ignore the rest of the nonsense the showrunners have created.

Hello! Hope your day is going well ^^
I remember reading this ask you answered (I think it was the "how come i" anon) and your response + your general attitude re: trans intracommunity discourse really resonated with me
I might be a trans man but long before that I was an artist and I specifically came back to Tumblr because I was having a hard time making my art on twitter after a certain someone took over - _ - (and of course, the rampant transphobia), only to find out that a small but vocal minority of queer folk here insist that I'm privileged for... [checking notes] having he/him pronouns and identifying as a man, despite being pre-T, and facing all sorts of transphobia, misogyny and transandrophobia (mostly from my parents, I'm lucky to go to a uni that's accepting of trans and genderqueer people)
I tried speaking up for us, but all it did was turn me into an unhealthy, paranoid mess, constantly checking my phone instead of focusing on things that mattered like my study, art, and relationships w my friends and my fiance, and I deleted that side blog after a few days.
I know you said it's fine to vent in your inbox but I still wanna keep it short - I still feel like.. I'm betraying the cause, or whatever because I don't actively make posts on transandrophobia on Tumblr, despite being 100% behind the term as another facet of transphobia - purely based off of my own lived experiences.
Anyway, I'm slowly transitioning (heh) my blog into something less "trans man with an art blog" and more "artist that happens to be a trans man", and I feel... right, despite the aforementioned guilt, because there's so many stories I want to tell, so many scenes I wanna capture with my stylus. I don't believe in vocations in the spiritual sense, but art feels like home to me, and I wonder if that's the same case for you with your writing.
And finally, I'm sure you've heard this plenty of times, but thank you for standing in our corner, despite getting so much shit from other blogs (this also goes for starryjoy and other transfems and trans women that have supported us transmascs + men! Thank you all so much <3)
Your fellow artist,
🖋️
(P.S. I was considering using a paintbrush but I like the fountain pen emoji more lol)
It's always my pleasure to help, anon. <3 You don't have an obligation to engage with discourse. Do what's best for your sanity and maybe see how you might be able to help out causes here or there that don't cause you anxiety or takes more from you than you can give. I had the same guilt not being able to engage with most issues (me even mentioning potential consequences of the election earlier should be taken as a sign of how angry I was when I made that post) but I was able to find a niche I can operate in. Even if you can't do that much or don't have money to donate, even just supporting your friends and the people around you adds a lot to the world.
I do feel that way about my writing, also. i have so many characters, so many scenes, so many themes, arcs, stories, it drives me crazy sometimes. I really hope eventually Velvet Nation will get to read them.

thoughts (aroace fujoshism, sexuality of "play" vs "real" idk idk)
Fujoism is a really funny experience...I don't sexually get off to men and I don't find it attractive in the arousal sense and yet I find gay sex really aesthetically calming and fun... I feel like the way I articulate my fujoisms feels often like the way very chill straight men talk about their no homo aesthetic appreciation of guys and homoeroticism, as like an intriguing concept, perhaps on some level "locked out" of experiencing it in the "real" internal inherent appreciative way but still feeling impressed somehow.
I don't really feel a mournfulness or fomo-leading-to-self-actualization the way say, some of the usual timeline of like the fujos who turn out to be gay transmasc are, since I don't rly care to be a participant. And ig i feel different than the lesbian fujos since I don't feel the men are stand-ins for women or a general queer attraction necessarily. I think for me a lot of it is the pleasure of feeling "Outside" or other (the fujo cuck chair, as one expresses). Idk I think sex is fun and interesting as a subject and expression of characters and their desires, not *despite* not wanting it but maybe specifically *because* of not understanding or connecting to it.
Thinking about this because of a minor personal conflict earlier with a former friend which was sad and frustrating to me bc it was like they could not believe or understand that I, or other aroaces for that matter, could have interest in making art or consuming art about sexual subjects and being invested in such works emotionally without it being idk a symptom of being in a state of unhealthy sexual repression.
I think this made me really self conscious for a long while and also sad. Because of acephobia lol but also in a more vain sense, about my skills. Either one can be good at making sexually themed art, and that means you must be secretly Really Full of 'real' desires you're using art as a cheap substitute to idk avoid Living Your True Life. Or I'm just idk a freak who doesn't understand will never understand and any attempts at making art about this subject for which I am an outsider will look ridiculous, shallow, and insulting to the Real Sexuality Experiencers. And why should I even bother, huh!
The thing is I think for a lot of my experiences, both irl and artistic, I think a lot of it feels kind of...if not fake, like some sort of external performance more than internal since I don't have that internal desire drive I guess. I draw gay sex, I don't experience it, but I enjoy the concept about it. I kissed my lesbian friends and shared beds and space and showers w them and felt nothing inherently desirous about it in my body but I value the experience and intimate trust as something meaningful and fun. I've never had sex and don't particularly want to but I feel that if I ever did it would be a similar feeling of outsider-play, an appreciation from the outside of experience but nothing inherently bodily meaningful the way it is for other people. I guess this is where kink comes in for some but I don't think about it in terms of kink necessarily.
anyways just some thoughts. I feel my relationship to sexuality TLDR is just that to me it all feels fake and unreal but in a playful way, I don't mean to deny other ppl the way it is Real and Weighty and Impactful to their lives. I think this may be part of the reason why some dudes get pissed off at Fujos for the "fetishization" it's bc they're maybe doing the weight vs lightness thing....a sexual orientation and life identity is Serious Business vs the triviality of yaoi. Which I can respect, but also I think it ignores how the "triviality" of works is also not in itself identity, but Artistic Exploration, which by nature must have stylized playfulness to it that is not necessarily always attached to reality (although knowledge of reality always adds to art.) different goals exist then, to live vs. to create for its own sake. For many it overlaps but I do think they are different goals. And the frustration happens when ppl mix up the play-fake with the real, and that aspect I think goes both ways (the infamous anecdotes of the fujos harassing gay ppl like characters, but also of random dudes getting mad at someone posting an obviously fictional story or explicit sexual fantasy and being like "how could u fetishize MEEEEE" the boundaries being broken down in those instances)

This is the same anon about the vaporwave stuff, and THANK YOU!!!! For over a year now I've been listening to mixtapes (Neon Palm Mall by SPLIFF Radio is the one that actually got me into vaporwave, I love love love it so much) and I really want to thank you for sharing! I've developed a deep love for this genre, but I didn't really know any albums specifically, so I'm glad I found you!
I also just wanted to dip my toe in the water with the previous ask, but if you have any other, I guess "advanced-listener" albums/mixtapes I'd love to hear them. I'm extremely open minded when it comes to music.
And, uh, I wouldn't mind hearing why the albums should be considered mixtapes, that is if you don't mind. I love learning! If you have any vapor wisdoms, I'd be very thankful to hear!
Last thing, I'm so jealous about your holo plaza gear. Congrats on getting the vinyl bro! 😭 Thanks again!!!
re: this ask right here! (ooooooo click for my vaporwave suggestions oooooooooo u wanna click so so bad)
anon u r literally so sweet, i don't think i can convey how excited your asks have made me LOL
admittedly there aren't many more... obscure? recommendations i can make, at least if you were to ask some like hardcore vaporwave fans lol but i can at least recommend a few more artists/albums i enjoy! i also recommend finding some artists you like to see if they collaborate with anyone and seeing if you like their works as well, usually a pretty easy way to find more people you'll like :] additionally, the Vapor Memory channel on yt posts full album streams from various artists; great way to find new stuff if you prefer to find things thru youtube rather than bandcamp! they even host virtual shows sometimes, which i think is awesome
RECOMMENDATIONS (pt 2 electric boogaloo; some of these r classics, some of them not, all of them on bandcamp and youtube except for the mixtapes):
Welcome to the Craft Store!® by nofriendsonline
🏜️ (鹿児島 砂漠) by desert sand feels warm at night and ⦓🍊⦔ タンジェリン (Kagoshima Tangerine)
Wellen by Voyage Futur
New Twilight Music Vol. 1 by various artists, published by Midwest Collective
A Million Miles Away by マクロスMACROSS 82-99
슈퍼마켓Yes! We’re Open by 식료품groceries
壊滅悲しみ PT 2 by haircuts for men
Machines of Loving Grace by Dead The Long Year (this one's admittedly a bit of a wildcard; it's post-vaporwave, a subgenre i'm far less familiar w but as an album it's very dear to me so i had to recommend. it's quite different from most of the other things i've recommended, and far more somber. caretaker-esque? is how i'd describe it, as the caretaker is a direct inspiration for DTLY, but if that piques your interest at all i recommend giving it a go :])

MINIMUM WAGE (VAPORWAVE MIX) by SCRAVECROW/Allec Cortez
10 Hours Of Slushwave (Vaporwave Mix) by illusiDreams
and to answer yr question abt albums vs mixtapes: this stems fr the fact that a lot of vaporwave is based on theft. vaporwave is a VERY sample heavy genre, as i'm sure you're likely aware, and while samples are usually meant to be some manner of open secret, esp in earlier days it was uncommon to openly admit to exactly what yr using, as it was supposed to be like a fun little inside joke between you and your audience as to what you were using and how. fast forward, vaporwave isn't popular per se but it definitely has more eyes on it, and some of those eyes are a little more concerned as to the ethics of such heavy usage of sampling. some argue that a lot of vaporwave songs aren't original songs so much as they're just remixes, which is why they prefer the term mixtape to refer to certain projects rather than albums.
as new subgenres come and go, some artists/albums have caused more of a stir in this regard than others. there are still some people who say saint pepsi (despite his notoriety) doesn't make real vaporwave, whatever the fuck that's supposed to mean, because of how much he (and future funk in general) relies on samples and i know there were some people who were a little miffed about the fact that OSCOB's praise the sun god practically samples an entire album (Future Lounge 03 (2000) by various artists) without actually doing all that much to it (which can sort of be the nature of a lot of barber beats tracks). and for the record, i understand wanting other artists to be credit for their work, but also i think it's a little rich to try and harp about it when vaporwave is all about stealing from other people anyways (though sample-less vaporwave does exit. hakita/heaven pierce her (yes, of ULTRAKILL fame) actually makes sample-less vaporwave music!)
ultimately, i think it's up to the artists themselves what they'd like their work to be called (and some do indeed call their works mixtapes rather than albums) but also. like who cares man LMAO it's all theft and it's all fun, i don't think it rlly matters esp since vaporwave... well it's not exactly a lucrative business, is it? lol, a lot of vaporwave artists actually offer their entire discographies for free/cheap/some sort of name your price, so the only real money they make off their works is probably physical merch or live performances (as is the normal life of a music artist, really, but i digress).
if u wanna learn more abt vaporwave stuff, pad chennington's where you wanna look! he makes a lot of videos about more obscure things in music, especially vaporwave stuff and he's a pretty big deal in vaporwave spaces, relatively speaking.
and thank u!! i paid. way too much money for it LOL but it's ok i love it to death 🩵 i'm still hunting for a reasonably priced copy of it on cassette, as i deeply regret not getting one when +3 came out. but maybe one day!...

Hewwo!
For ask about rain world
questions: 3,7,8,9
have a great day! ^w^
Nice to see you again! Since they're gonna be long again, the answers are below the cut! I also think I'm gonna have to do this in two parts because of the length, so I'll link the other half when it's done!
For a quick warning, there are some pretty big Rivulet and Saint campaign spoilers down below!
And again, here's the full questionnaire for reference!
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
3. What is your favorite region?
For me, my answer depends on what the criteria for "favorite" is. I'll give 2 answers - one from a gameplay perspective, and one from a concept/artistic perspective.
Gameplay-wise, my favorite region is actually Industrial Complex! I feel it acts best as a personal hub area, and there's two reasons for this.
Industrial Complex is the most strategically located region. To elaborate, I've come to the conclusion that, at least when you start as Survivor, Monk, or Spearmaster, Industrial is approximately equidistant from every other region in terms of how many Karma Gates you have to pass to reach other areas. You have the Outskirts gate, and from there you can go to Farm Arrays and Drainage System, the Chimney Canopy gate which you can use to get to Sky Islands and The Wall, the Garbage Wastes gate which you can use to reach Shoreline, then Submerged Superstructure/Looks to the Moon or Subterranean, and the Shaded Citadel gate which takes you to the Leg, and later Five Pebbles after going through the Underhang. This means that from Industrial every region except Outer Expanse and Metropolis can be reached in 2 gates or less. All of these also exist in vanilla RW, but in Downpour you get a direct link to Pipeyard on top of that, if you like to go for the Wanderer passage like I do!
Of all the regions, Industrial Complex is also a favorite because, to me, it's the least annoying region besides Outskirts. Some are are cool conceptually or fun in certain situations, but with nearly every other region in the game I either don't like them in general — usually due to a mix of uncomfortable terrain layouts, environmental hazards, or annoying enemies — (like Shaded Citadel, Pipeyard, and Shoreline), or in cases like Chimney Canopy, I've had so many bad experiences with them that my resulting opinion has since downgraded noticeably.
Combine these two details with how, as Survivor, Monk, Spearmaster, Artificer, and Gourmand it's a very early-game region that you can go to pretty much immediately, I just think it makes a very good hub-region where I can relax and gain my bearings before moving onward to harder areas.
Now, favorite region in terms of concept?
Definitely has to be Five Pebbles and Looks to the Moon, in all their incarnations (though if I had to pick a favorite version, I think I'd choose the Rot). Seriously, can we just take a moment to appreciate the immensely creative and totally awesome idea that is a sapient city-sized partially organic mechanical superstructure with god-like status? What other game can you say even has anything close to that, be it organic or mechanical? It's honestly part of the reason I enjoy the iterators so much, not even just as characters, but as an incredibly unique "species" that's very fun to explore conceptually.
It was even cooler when, recently, I realized every region in the game (besides perhaps Outskirts, Outer Expanse, and Farm Arrays) is directly connected to the iterator superstructures and, for the most part, used to serve them in some way, once again supporting my idea that they really are central to Rain World's "story". It was so fun trying to piece together what each of the regions used to be and how they assisted Pebbles and Moon, such as Industrial Complex being Side House that gave Pebbles his holy ash, or Sky Islands being his or Moon's main communications arrays. I still remember how excited I was when I realized the Precipice was the bridge the green Metropolis pearl talked about that connected Moon and Pebbles, and that the mysterious metal tower things in the background of Shoreline were the broken beams of the bridge! I don't know, seeing things change over time is also a theme I tend to fancy.
Now, while floating through the Recursive Transform Array or trying to navigate the Cystic Conduit (another area I really don't like for its pipe layout, enemies, and water hazards) isn't exactly my favorite way to play, It's mesmerizing watching the Tesla coils flicker, or seeing the many neurons floating around like schools of fish and making those weird high-pitched whistle-y noises, or listening to the mechanical hum of the deeper parts of the structure, or hearing that mysterious pounding heartbeat (seriously, where is it coming from? Is this to suggest somewhere deep in the structure there is a massive organic heart beating, or some weird heart-like thing pumping... something??).
I want to expand on what I said about the Rot, too. For some context I didn't play through Five Pebbles the first time blind, so I wasn't as captivated by the iterators as a concept then. But this past Thanksgiving I was doing my first Rivulet playthrough and MAN, have I never been more uncomfortable yet fascinated playing a video game as when I was running through the Rot, especially since I, in completionist fashion, was determined to explore every part of it before progressing. Every time I saw the stationary rot cysts (and wasn't running from DLLs) and collapsed rubble with some of the old rooms still recognizable my heart went out to Pebbles so much, and I couldn't stop thinking about what it must feel like for him, literally rotting from the inside out, and what he must be thinking knowing he brought it upon himself and now he really is going to die with no way to stop it. I tend to really admire when art can truly convey a particular idea and the corresponding emotions very well, and I'd say the Rot does that best of all the regions, mainly given the context of everything else that led up to it. And best of all, I think it serves as a major positive turning point for Five Pebbles character-wise, so it even has a silver lining to it!
So yeah, the iterators are my favorite regions in terms of the idea and art of it!
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
7. What is your favorite song from the soundtrack?
This may sound like a bit of a boring choice, but I've always loved "Pictures of the Past", honestly, and by extent "The Cycle" for reasons I'll explain soon. Firstly, I enjoy how, besides the Sundown theme, it's the very first thing you hear in the game, and it's so short yet good at conveying the emotions of the initial Survivor intro cutscene. It's nice to listen to, having a clear emotion but not super intense.
Secondly, something about this song just fits its source material very well. Going back to what I said above about how I like art that conveys an idea really well, I think "Pictures of the Past" just does such a good job of selling that feeling of being a small, strange creature in a huge and even stranger world so artificially changed by a long-gone civilization, yet still slowly returning to the wilds. It sounds sad in a way, yet very wondrous too, and those last notes as the song slows down are like the perfect invitation to explore this new world! Every time I listen to it, it reminds me of how Rain World was like at first, before Downpour and all the expansion on the iterators, when it was just that little creature in an urban world they can't understand.
The third reason I like it so much, and why I enjoy "The Cycle" as well is because it's my favorite example of the "Sundown" leitmotif, which can also be heard in "Random Gods", "Moondown", and "Deep Light" among other songs. If you've read some of my previous posts you can probably already tell I strongly enjoy when elements of a story have some kind of poetic, thematic, or narrative significance, so as a result I really enjoy leitmotifs in art when they're used to help convey a running theme or different perspectives of the same idea. Thus, I naturally gravitated to this one once I discovered it. For a while I've also been trying to develop a personal interpretation of what this particular leitmotif means. I came to the conclusion a while ago that it could in some way represent the Great Cycle or the idea of cycles in general, and while I still have to develop this idea, my suspicion that this is what that leitmotif represents has all but been confirmed upon understanding the soundtrack song, "The Cycle".
Upon hearing this tune in my first Saint playthrough I already loved it, because it sounded so final and emotional and fitting for the last part of this grand story. and the fact it plays around the iterator chamber in Rubicon just further added to the feels and the finality of it all, and made my heart go out to Five Pebbles and Looks to the Moon one more time. To me, it sounds exactly like how they must feel, finally understanding the problem they both worked so hard to solve, yet not being upset, instead having made peace with all the tragedy they've faced, accepting their place in the Great Cycle, and finally ready to move on to the next part; somewhat sad that it's over and they can't go back, yet somehow at peace too. So afterwards I searched for the name of the song to listen to it again, and upon finding it I lost my mind when I discovered it's a reversed and edited version of "Pictures of the Past"! Like, dude, I already loved this song as a sweet send-off to Moon, Pebbles, and Rain World as an experience, and now you're telling me it's the same song as the very first one we hear when we first start playing, thus ending the game by sending us back to where it all began? No wonder it's called "The Cycle" — there's no real end, it really does start all over again in a great big cycle! And it seems like, at this point in the story, Five Pebbles and Looks to the Moon have finally realized it's not something to run from or try to escape. They really have made peace with it, and then it starts all over again.
So, yeah, in short "Pictures of the Past" and "The Cycle" are my favorite OST tracks, because they are fun to listen to, convey the feelings of their corresponding scenes very well, and have deep narrative significance through being intertwined with and parallels to each other, functioning as the perfect beginning and ending of Rain World both as a story and as a game experience.

(Thief King Bakura-centric Comic) Nile Kappa Pool (English Translation)
Tumblr media
hi there! i came across this comic about thief king bakura learning about kappas and i loved it so much that i had to give translating it a go. it's not often you see non-romantic comics getting passed around that aren't gag comics, so obviously i had to jump on this one. apparently it's a fairly recent one too, being distributed in 2018.
my translations may be a bit off, please feel free to correct me if you see anything that could be translated better! i tried to make the dialogue sound natural in english while also not losing the original meanings. i’ve also typed out all the dialogue under each page cause i did have to fight with the small speech bubbles a bit, so dialogue may be a teeny bit hard to read sometimes. there’s also a few translation notes added too!
Title: Nile Kappa Pool/ナイル河童淵 Author: nmoohha (you can find their distribution notice post here if you’d like to see glimpses of the original digital version!) Summary: TKB meets a boy who tells him about kappas Scans: @super-lovely-collection (thank you for giving me permission to post my translation with your scans!)
i’m also providing a download for people who want to read it more conveniently! i included all the separate pages plus a PDF version :) (the last few pages in the original aren’t included since they’re not part of the story)
Tumblr media
Boy: Hey... Boy: Have you ever seen a kappa?
Tumblr media
TKB: ... TKB: Ka...ppa...? TKB: ...The heck is that? Boy: Hmm? You don’t know?
Tumblr media
Boy: It’s a spirit that lives in the river Boy: A spirit that lives hidden in the grass by the water...
Tumblr media
(Boy: Yeah!) (TKB: Ohh) Boy: It grabs children playing by the water Boy: And tries to drown them! TKB: Hoh... (Boy: It bounced 9 times!) (TKB: First time I’ve seen that) TKB: ...You ever seen it? (The kappa?) Boy: Nope TKB: Come on! Boy: So every day I lure it in while playing like this (I wanna see it!) TKB: Every day?! (In your free time?!) TKB: If I did that, I’d rather get attacked and eaten by a crocodile!
Tumblr media
TKB: A kappa, huh. ...That’s it. TKB: Did you mistake it for a crocodile? Boy: Huuh? That’s not it. It’s different from a crocodile. There’s no heroic tale*. TKB: Okay, sorry! (I’ll throw stones too) Boy: A kappa walks on two legs. TKB: Two legs... Boy: It has a mouth with teeth like a crocodile Boy: And arms with thick claws like a jaguar Boy: Also, it has webbed feet and can swim Boy: And on top of that, it has a turtle shell on its back TKB: ?? *The original word used here is ロマン/roman, which can refer to chivalric romance literature. These kinds of stories tend to be your classic 'knight goes on a journey, fights monsters and other evils, gets the lady' tale. I couldn't really figure out a better way of making this understood briefly, so it is what it is. On another note, apparently the Japanese word for crocodile (鰐/wani, but here it's written as ワニ) was originally used to refer to an ancient sea monster which has been featured in quite a few Japanese myths. Don't know if this knowledge adds anything to the comic, but it is interesting to know!
Tumblr media
(Artist’s impression of a kappa: by Bakura) Boy: It’s really strong, right? TKB: Isn’t that too much bullcrap? Boy: A kappa is a spirit that likes to fight Boy: My grandpa saw one wrestling* a hippo when he was a kid TKB: Huh...
*The specific term used here is sumo wrestling, just to be clear it's not referring to general wrestling.
Tumblr media
TKB: Ahh... I dunno about a kappa TKB: But I have seen one. TKB: A spirit Boy: A spirit? TKB: The spirit I saw... was better than a kappa. (Haha) TKB: It looks like a human from the waist up... TKB: It has bird wings on its back TKB: Two pairs of them! TKB: Not only that, it has a snake’s head from the waist down TKB: It has the two heads of a human and snake
Tumblr media
(Artist’s impression: by young boy) Boy: Two heads... Boy: Yeaah, it’s weirder than a kappa TKB: W... weird... Boy: But it seems stronger than a kappa Boy: When did you see it? The spirit (Boy: It has two heads...) TKB: I met it... when I was a kid... TKB: It saved my life.
Tumblr media
TKB: If I hadn’t met the spirit... TKB: I might not have been able to play like this... TKB: Or have the desire to live Boy: Wow... how cool Boy: The spirit... is just like a god, huh? TKB: !! TKB: A god...? TKB: Heh heh TKB: Not bad!
Tumblr media
Boy: Ahh... it didn’t bounce at all... TKB: ... TKB: Hah?! It’s my first time doing it! TKB: How do you make it bounce like that?! Boy: I have a trick, I’ll teach it to you (Ahaha) TKB: Just you wait, I’ll make it bounce more than you! Boy: I told you, I won’t lose
Tumblr media
(Boy: It’s round) (Boy: Flat stones like this are good) (TKB: Hoh) (Boy: Lower your stance more) (TKB: Ah)
Tumblr media
TKB: It bounced 3 times just now! Look! It bounced, it bounced! (TKB: Alright!)
Tumblr media
Boy: Well then~ I’m going home TKB: Okay Boy: Don’t get attacked by a kappa! Be careful! TKB: Haha, you too... TKB: ...Hah... TKB: I got worked up with that kid by accident... (Ow ow ow...) TKB: Well... it’s a good way of killing time once in a while TKB: Right, partner?
Tumblr media
TKB: You are like a god TKB: You must be happy, right? (Diabound: Mhm) (Diabound: (Smile)) (TKB: You’re really happy...)
Tumblr media
TKB: Now... to find a suitable restaurant somewhere and have dinner... TKB: ! TKB: ...? TKB: A stone...? TKB: Is someone there...?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TKB: Hey! TKB: What the hell?!
Tumblr media
TKB: Why are crocodiles jumping toward me?! TKB: ...Can crocodiles jump...? ???: Hey TKB: ?! ???: Give the stone back* during the day, kuh keh keh ???: But... it’s important to give it back properly
*The specific word used is お返し/okaeshi, which refers to a custom where when someone gives you a gift, you have to give them a gift in return for the initial gift.
Tumblr media
TKB: This spirit looks... strong...
Tumblr media
TKB: ...A...
Tumblr media
TKB: A kappa...?

personal update
hey um. it's been a bit. i know i said i'd try to post more, maybe get some art out, but nothing has come out. for almost an entire year now, i've been completely demotivated from drawing, writing, doing anything creative. it's probably bc for years i've only posted my art to be like a "content creator" instead of posting just to show other people. irl i get very embarrassed abt showing off anything i do in fear of harsh critique, but online i never really had to worry abt that. but even then, posting my art has never been for the fun of posting but to gain popularity.
to be fair, ive never been a "popular artist" in any definition of the word. ive always had a small following on every social media i've owned, and any sort of "fame" i gained was being friendly w someone w way more followers than i could ever dream of getting. and even then, it didnt change much.
i think im gonna stop posting often. im really only gonna post here and there if i ever feel like it because i wanna give myself more time to get into drawing again and stuff. i dont want to lose my passion for art, ever, and im scared that this severe burnout is going to take that away. like, usually i can draw a lot when i have a hyperfixation, but even hyperfixating on pjsk hasn't given me much in terms of drawing inspo.
im also just not gonna be on tumblr in general much. maybe i'll immediately go back on that immediately after this, but idk. for rn, you're not gonna see me in ur notes if i follow you, im not gonna be asking questions, i just. can't. im sorry to the friends this will be affecting bc i love your works, i love your funny posts, i just can't be here in this state.
idk if i wanna turn my askbox off, so i'm keeping it open for right now. you can send em stuff there, i just wont answer it for a long while.
ig you can call this a hiatus, but i dont wanna call it that. that's all i have though. i hope i'll truly be okay when/if i come back. i'll miss all my friends, my mutuals, the cool people i follow, etc. but i still have discord if you ever wanna talk.
thanks for everything.

Coming up on a quarter of a century ago I had the great joy of interviewing Burt Bacharach for Black & White. This was on the tail end of his 1999 South American tour and a couple of weeks before the Birmingham show.
Still can't believe how generous he was with his time, and it cracks me up that, while I have most of his music in my very DNA, I can't hear any of those iconic tunes without thinking of what Bacharach's kitchen prep sounded like. Here's the chat from November of 1999.
What’s New, Bacharach?
It’s 11:30 a.m. in Los Angeles at Burt Bacharach’s house, and judging from sounds picked up by the speaker phone, he’s rambling around trying to put some kind of breakfast or brunch together. He arrived last night from a tour in Argentina, and in his own words, he’s “kind of whacked.” Nonetheless, his conversational tone is as bright and pleasant as…well, a Bacharach tune, with a kind of stop-start inflection that keeps one guessing if more words are to follow.
“Hold on a second, don’t go anywhere”, he says before going after what sounds like more ice. A full minute later, “Are you there? Okay, good.”
Black & White: Let’s talk about your youth, specifically that time when music first began making a deep impression on you.
Burt Bacharach: 52nd Street. The jazz club scene, without question. In the late ’40s, when I’m a teenager seeing Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, those guys. I was hooked. I got caught up in what they were doing in terms of, first of all, the excitement and stirring quality of the music, but technically speaking those artists were inventing possibilities. Not merely new songs, but new sounds.
B&W: Considering the tremendous transitions in popular music from 1946 to 1966, your music seems to fall somewhere between the American songbook, Tin Pan Alley tradition, and the less mainstream realm of sophisticated time signatures, chord shifts, and other elements of the jazz sound that impressed you so much.
Bacharach:  Elements. That’s a good point. Yes, I’m sure my influences, in terms of composition, come from that, but I was also profoundly impressed, in my music studies, with Ravel and Debussy. I was intrigued very early by that music. If you want to say my songs are sophisticated, I have to credit those influences. I see what you mean by tremendous range, that’s one of the best aspects of late popular music, but you really don’t have to cover a span of 20 years. Just start with Harry James and move to Charlie Parker and you have a tremendous shift in music.
B&W: It seems that the odds would be against a songwriter, such as yourself, using complicated elements to make popular music or hit songs.
Bacharach: [laughing] Are my songs complicated?
B&W: I’ll put it in terms of a paradox: keeping time with “This Boy’s In Love,” or “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again” is a challenge. They are tricky songs, you must admit. Yet for those of us growing up in the ’60s and ’70s, your music was ubiquitous, a new song every 3 or 4 months, each with a melody that is now instantly recognized and adored.
Bacharach: Well, I certainly don’t try to make things difficult for the listener. [laughing] Sorry about that. You’ll have to admit, on the other hand, that I’m not writing anything now nearly as—let’s say complex—as “Promises, Promises.” But all along I was just trying to stay with what pleased me, what I thought sounded good. More importantly, I have always written what I was comfortable with, which meant staying with certain musical values; I wasn’t deliberately trying to be “sophisticated.” But you don’t want to write cheap, you know? It’s like being involved with a person really, when you create a song. You want to get up the next day or the next week and feel good about yourself. If a certain phrasing or 7/8 chord sounds good, I think you have to stay with it. You don’t try to anticipate what the public will like. You stay with the values.
B&W: There is another paradox in many of your songs: those infectious, upbeat melodies are accompanied by lyrics that convey poignancy or even melancholy. These songs are mindful of the pitfalls of romance, the tension involved.
Bacharach: Well, I think when you can get something like that going, that contrast, and you can put a meaningful story there, that’s what you’re after. Hal [Hal David, longtime Bacharach collaborator] is great lyric writer. He has a terrific way of taking care of certain notes, matching the right vowel with a high note, you know what I mean? A love song deals with the heart, and so with that passion everything is heightened, “I’m gonna live forever”; “each day I’m falling more in love,” that sort of feeling. We have a lot of songs like that,  I think “Anyone Who Had a Heart” gets those ideas across.
B&W: Have you ever been surprised by a particular interpretation?
Bacharach: [laughing] There have been all kind of surprises. One record that I love, really love, that’s kind of different from the way I wrote it, is Aretha Franklin doing “Say a Little Prayer.” Oh, it’s brilliant. And a surprise, certainly.
B&W: What kind of music are you most likely to listen to today?
Bacharach: Brazilian music. We just finished a South American tour; that may be why. But really it’s a kind of music from which I’ve always derived a lot of pleasure. When I worked with Sergio Mendes, and he’s great, Sergio’s wonderful; I enjoyed Brazil so much.
B&W: You are also enjoying  a new generation of fans right now. Elvis Costello, Michael Myers, and the electronica and lounge-core crowds seem universally to admire your music.
Bacharach:  I think it’s great; you can’t plan that. It’s gratifying. These kids weren’t even born when this music was first recorded. It’s not a revival, they’re hearing it for the first time. I was just so pleased that Michael Myers wanted me to be a part of the Austin Powers movies. Great guy. He’s brilliant and hilarious. Very quick. In those two scenes in those pictures, I was just laughing and smiling through the entire shot. I wasn’t acting; I found it all just too much.
B&W: Has there been a moment at which you thought to yourself, “Wow, I’ve written the soundtrack to a good portion of the 20th century?”
Bacharach: Actually, no, I’ve never said that to myself. I don’t think I will. I’m approached sometimes with compliments like that, people who talk in terms of my contribution to popular music, and it is certainly flattering. I’m very uneasy with that kind of idea, though. I’m extremely happy to do what I do for so long, with so much success, but I just can’t look at it in those terms. Having a show go well, I mean, giving a good performance is much more appealing to me.
B&W: From where you’re standing, do you know the way to San Jose?
Bacharach: Ha! Oh gosh. Well, you know I have found my own way there a couple of times. I worked with the symphony and it’s a really nice town. For specific directions, I think you’d have to ask Hal David.

whos ur art inspo, if u have one? And what inspires you to draw in general? :3
WOWWW 1st one is a bit difficult to answer so I'll get the 2nd one out of the way. Long answers ahead I like to ramble
I honestly don't have like, a clear cut inspiration to draw. it's just a skill I've known all my life and thought, "might as well" whenever I have any interests. it's an important one to me though, it helps me express my thoughts and feelings and interests, and has helped me connect with many people over the years that I don't know what I'd do if I never met them. The internet has helped in that greatly, and it's also another source of income which is nice. I'm a very simple person, art and drawing is one of my ways to live not just financially but socially. it's a big part of myself and that's why I keep going- who am I if I didn't, you know?
as for artists that inspire me... I'm not really one to look at classical artists hahaha, of I'm sorry if that disappoints. I probably should but it's never piqued my interest aside from my general opinion that classical artists are cool and I like to study them every now and then, no specific piece is a favorite though.
I just get inspired by anything I locally come by, i.e the internet most of the time. It also depends on whatever media I currently fixate on. Before, I usually focused on one media at a time because of neurodivergency I think, but now I'm on the complete opposite end of that where I consume multiple media at once to prevent a single thought. It's cool to have ideas and concepts and inspirations crossover each other, it's fun
anyhow, I find my fave artists through fandom and just general socmed algorithms . I'll start w the ones on tumblr (note that some are also on twitter lol) a lot of artists inspire me but I'll be listing out the big ones for the most part
daneesoro has just. very good linework and it inspires me a lot. knows how to put weight on the right parts of drawing and good animations. kny mostly, fem giyuu afficionado. very swag!
ohrsoh I found through mp100 but draws a lot of other stuff like drhdr iirc. similar to daneesoro in how they inspire me, just good drawings all around
taffypointby is a Big inspo in terms of art style and colors. good ideas and incredible execution that really scratches ur brain u know. variety content as well but I found through jjk and wha I believe
twitter time
elodeas is mainly genshin, Incredible color and renderwork it's insane. she just has good stuff all in all
diinnple yet Another big inspo ahhhh, variety content. really cute art style and I learned a few tricks on ibis from. just gorgeous works w lovely drawings
samzalong has an upcoming comic which I highly recommend following up on if you're interested in horror elements. mostly oc stuff. colors are soooo good and art style is very charming and I adore it
galoogamelady , mostly ocs I believe. art is just very humorous and I adore how facial expressions are done in their art
tunneisnakes... mostly horror , sometimes oc sometimes not. found through resident evil stuff. facial expressions, details, color, texture, concepts, everything... just good stuff all around!!! if u like horror and creepy stuff they're an incredible artist for it
pomsteak , a mutual of mine hehehe . really pretty linework and drawings and colors are amazing too . gives me a lot of anime nostalgia w their art style but it's got its own spin on it, very charming and lovely. mostly fandom, found through genshin but they do jjba too iirc! please check em out o7
nymria has very gorgeous art with a mostly warm color palette I enjoy, and they are mostly of women (I love women!) cutesy art style and it makes me feel like I just got shot by cupid and I'm flying in circles. good stuff
there are many others but I'm also largely inspired by a lot of artists that are on the r18 side haha , stylization of anatomy and colors are hard. but I cannot recommend those since this blog isn't really focused on that age range and I wouldn't want to send people who aren't their target audience on their way

I’m sorry but I don’t understand how jack expects ever grow as an artist and expand his fan base… he isolates himself in Kentucky 90% of the time and his team is absolute wet garbage at doing any kind of promo for him. It just blows my mind.
Sorry I just had to get that off my chest.
I feel like he’s trying to do everything at once which waters down the process/quality of a lot of things
Like I totally get and respect doing big things/events for your hometown bc a lot of artists do that and it really pays and homage to the city so I like the fact that he’s created his own festival for such purpose (and getting other BIG artists to come down to a city that isn’t NYC/LA/ATL etc to gain traction which never usually happens is amazing)
However, he’s also stated he wants to be one of the biggest rappers of his/our generation (I’m paraphrasing) which is hard to achieve when you haven’t promoted your last album & haven’t gone on tour in a while/only done shows in KY for the last 1-2 years.
But I guess part of me still respects his love for KY? Idk I feel like the majority of artists always gravitate to LA and NY which is so populated and difficult to get to/buy tix for etc that it’s kinda cute that Louisville has their own version of that bc of Jack if that makes sense? Like if someone from my hometown made it big (which several of them have made big names for themselves but not SUPERSTAR level if u get me) and decided to continuously do special stuff for my city I’d be grateful and ecstatic.
But trust me I do feel your frustration!! It’s hard to enjoy an artist when they stay/perform mainly in one cornered area
As for his team… Yall know how I feel abt them….. many ppl need to get booted imo 💀 idk especially in terms of promo/staying relevant/keeping up w trends…. He needs a better social media manager (amongst other things)
