been obsessed with astarion ever since bg3 came out. wanted to play it (in large part) for astarion. admired astarion from afar for months in an non-spoiler free fashion. finally got a ps5 and bg3 with the full intention to romance astarion… cracked as soon as i saw the option to romance shadowheart.

Repeated symbolism: Predatory cats and coniving mices (unsorted notes)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
EP 10 Nanami's precious one; The shadow play showcasing how Nanami partly can't name and partly won't take repsonsibility for naming her relationship with Touga. By the time it has been given a cute description, their relationship has actually turned out monsterous. (Note: Touga likes cats, and is Akio's apprentice)

Episode 14 Landscape framed by Kozue; Anthy imitating mouse noises while getting (routinely) assaulted by Akio.

Episode 16 Cowbell of happiness; Shadowplay about the logical trap to think that cozying up to an oppressive power would make them the individual exception from systematic abuse. Applies to multiple chracters, in multiple forms.

recently realized that the reason i’m so attached to angst and queerbait is because that longing is the closest thing i can feel to romantic attraction. romantic fluff doesn’t mean anything to me (if anything it makes me actively uncomfortable) and cutting a story off before it gets to that point is my way of.. living vicariously through the characters, i guess. grief is the closest i can get to heartache.

my real strugglers moment with threshold au in prodigy timeline rn is that like,,,,, im uniquely struggling with the idea of what to do with chakotay post-season two with where they left him,,,,,,,,, it feels weird to me that kathryn’s the one thatd be around more WHICH IS FINE but its just funny how Stay At Home Mom it makes her feel to me haha
like i have to canon compliantly explain why hed choose to go back out into the field rather than be home with his AU kids after having been seemingly lost for 10 years lol. inevitably both parents end up working again which is fine. maybe everyone thinks kathryn retiring early is out of character and it is because she finds out she’s COUGH and discreetly retires, only to get recalled lol.
what makes it even weirder is that the kids would probably be a bit less upset about him just continuing to work bc for them he was only missing for like a year or so(?) maybe chakotay just feels out of place and hes trying to find himself again,,,,,, something something kathryns baby she hasnt told him about yet SHRUG i never like the idea of playing the angle that hes any less of a father to the three kids hes not biologically related to tho :/

you ever think that since dark and dai have different eye shapes, the eye liner might get messed up after a transformation
or maybe its au natural
@box-of-characters
see the way it works is completely impossible regardless because there are portions where daisuke is just dressed up as dark and not even transformed, but he still gets the bedroom eyes

god. sometimes i really hate those "10 jobs that you can do WITHOUT a qualification that pay over 100k" and they list something like "human resource management" 130k a year!!! when like. EVERY fucking HR job (and other jobs like this, say like librarian- something that i PAID 17k for and burnt out for in postgrad lmao) strictly DEMAND that candidates must have 1-2 years experience AND an HR DEGREE.
very, very, very, very rarely i see something in HR requiring a TAFE (aussie technical college) certificate (ie MUCH cheaper- 7k) or a diploma in HR. it's almost always a degree, barely EVER "no quals or equivalent experience or similar quals"... even for entry level jobs in hr or most defs management positions.

People can't write a post talking about how lack of financial independence is used as a tool to abuse and the risk in the tradwife fantasies that don't acknowledge that without someone being weirdddddd like not everything is debate class

it drives me crazy when people in this show talk about a vaccine and a cure interchangeably. Those are two VERY DIFFERENT THINGS.
You're talking a vaccine. Infected that have turned are for sure dead. You're not bringing back a person that's been being eaten by fungus from the inside. Come on.
But given what we're told about Ellie's immunity, a vaccine would be super unlikely too. The reason it works for Ellie is because she has the fungus in her brain constantly pumping out whatever chemical messenger is confusing new cordyceps infections. Even if you WERE able to mass produce the chemical, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flushes (it flushes through the central nervous system and then is reabsorbed as the chloroid plexus makes more), it's not constant. You'd likely have to get the vaccine VERY frequently (likely by intrathecal injection- injection to the spinal cord directly- which is super invasive and kinda risky even right now). Even if you COULD get systemic injections (to presumably stop the fungus from spreading peripherally, before it even gets to your brain), you'd have to get multiple ones. Vaccines work longterm by getting your body to make its own antibodies to the invading agent. The fireflies weren't gonna be able to do that.
I think it'd be much more realistic for them to try to create a treatment. Maybe if you treat someone soon after being bitten you could stop the spread of the fungus (like with Ellie). The problem with this is, again, CSF flushes, so who knows if cordyceps would just start spreading again once the treatment was cleared.
TLDR: the fireflies wouldn't have been able to do shit with Ellie.
