Some people: there shouldn't be anything romantic between Crowley and Aziraphale, they're just friends in the book and it should be that way in the show.
Last pages of the book, when the plot of each character is concluding, in the EXACT arc of Aziraphale and Crowley: for the first time in history, A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square*.
Literally the lyrics of this song:
"When two lovers meet in Mayfair So the legends tell Songbirds sing Winter turns to Spring Every winding street in Mayfair Falls beneath this spell I know such enchantment can be 'Cause it happened one evening to me That certain night, the night we met There was magic abroad in the air There were angels dancing at the Ritz And a nightingale sang in Berkeley Square I may be right, I may be wrong But I'm perfectly willing to swear That when you turned and smiled at me A nightingale sang in Berkeley Square The moon that lingered over London Town Poor puzzled moon, he wore a frown How could he know we two were so in love The whole darn world seemed upside down The streets of town were paved in stars It was such a romantic affair And as we kissed and said goodnight A nightingale sang in Berkeley Square Our homeward step was just as light As the tap dancing feet of Astaire And like an echo far away A nightingale sang in Berkeley Square I know 'cause I was there That night in Berkeley Square"
If that isn't an implicit hint about them as a couple, I don't know what is!

Imposing/projecting headmate presences is great because you're a little bit uncomfy, in pain and trying (but failing) to sleep? Boom, sensation of eldritch distortion monster cuddling you.

love [/s] when people add negative commentary on resources claiming that a source is bad without providing evidence and then go "sorry to be a downer" especially when the author of a source specifically explains and deploys a methodology that is in stark contrast with the critique lol

Found an Easter egg in the book The Imposition of Unnecessary Obstacles by Malka Older!
Tumblr media
It's the second (and latest) book in her mystery series The Investigations of Mossa and Pleiti. I can highly recommend both it and the first book, The Mimicking of Known Successes.
The simplest way to describe the series is that it's very similar (I'd say intentionally so) to the Sherlock Holmes stories, but if Sherlock and Watson were reimagined as lesbians with chemistry that was more than just potential subtext, and they lived in a future post-apocalyptic colony in space with definite Victorian-type/steampunk world building, but with a healthy amount of foods and other cultural aspects from many different cultures around the world.
In fact, one thing that surprised me at first was that the books' vocabulary commonly uses not only formal/older English words, but also words and expressions from many different languages, only some of which were familiar to me, but most of which can be understood from context. It's a choice that makes sense, though, for a society that's been removed from Earth for a long time, and what it would look like for different Earth cultures to synthesize into totally new cultures and groupings of people over time.
Anyway, these are the kind of books that you're likely to enjoy if you like TMBD. As a matter of fact, in the first book's acknowledgments, Malka Older listed Martha Wells first among the other authors she was thanking for their writing and how it impacted her. So if you're looking for a fun and interesting scifi read, these books are worth it! :)

Hello!
Love your work, it makes me laugh!
I need a suggestion, because I want to make a Columbo cosplay, and you're an expert, so you're the only one that can help me!!!
I have all I need for the cosplay (the raincoat, the shoes, even a badge made of cardboard), but...I thought: i would like to add an element characteristic of one specific episode, or of a meme, you know...to make it more distinguished! You know what I mean? I really don't know what to invent!
Thanks in advance!!!
columbo carries around a rotating cast of little props including lunch bags, thermoses, cups of coffee, briefcases, and of course cigars. barring that, i'd add his notepad. he even draws the people he talks to
Tumblr media
of course in order to make it truly complete, you'd need to omit the writing implement

A funny commonality to both indian/hindu and euro-american creepy etnonationalists who closk their retrograde politics in the veil of anticolonialism is how they will complain about Abrahamic missionaries/invaders trampling over their pristine authentic ancient indigenous traditions even when this offending abrahamic presence often predates large swathes of "traditional" customs and folkloric/religious beliefs and so forth, thus impeding their reclamation of their "real" ancestral culture. Bc if Christian/islamic interference with ones ancient ways is intolerably foreign and oppressive no matter how long ago it was introduced then, oh boy, you are going to fucking hate hearing about the spread of indo European culture!
(Ik that hindu ethnats do in fact develop elaborate pseudoscientific conspiracy theories to hide their head in the sand on this point, i am not sure if this immune response has yet been adopted by the "retvrn to yr evropean roots to avoid culturally appropriating from indigenous Americans" crowd)

that take about hallucinations and dissociation being something no one should want: *exists*
us, a collective who does imposition*: really? :O
*not sure if that's the word, but it's when you uh, basically like, project your image externally so you get the impression that a headmate in co-con/co-front is, for example standing beside the body. that's probably horribly explained lol
Yup! That's imposition!
It's really fun to play around with too!
I think tactile has been my favorite. (And seems the easiest.) When I'm not fronting, it's fun to run an (imposed) finger across the body to see how my host reacts!
Imposition is a wonderful, beautiful thing and more systems should try it if they haven't!

While TERFs and transphobes continually seek to undermine the rights of trans young people to receive trans-affirming healthcare such as puberty blockers, it is important to remember that they, like much of the medical establishment, are very happy for intersex infants to be subjected to non-medically necessary surgeries - usually for the purely aesthetic purposes of making their genitals appear more like “traditional cis ones” - long before they are capable of giving informed consent to them.
More than that, there are thousands of documented examples of medical professionals lying to parents about non-traditional reproductive systems in order to coerce them into subjecting their babies and children into unnecessary surgeries:

https://www.hrw.org/report/2017/07/25/i-want-be-nature-made-me/medically-unnecessary-surgeries-intersex-children-us
These often cause issues requiring more and more surgeries as those intersex babies grow up, causing a great deal of unnecessary pain and suffering, and can mean the removal of sensitive tissues and the buildup of scar tissue that can make sex painful, cause trauma, and reduce the person’s enjoyment of it as an adult.
This is yet another example of how imposition of the sex/gender binary - instead of recognising them as spectra - is incredibly harmful across society. People deserve to find out who they are for themselves *and* to be believed when they *know* who they are instead of being shoved into rigid, harmful boxes that reflect ideology instead of reality.

This quote:
The Wen Clan took the sun as their symbol to signify that they “contended with the sun in radiance and matched it in longevity”. Their seat was as vast as a city, and was named the “Nightless Heavens”; it was also sometimes called the “Nightless Capital.”
—Chapt. 17: Elegance VII, fanyiyi
...actually made it click for me just how many irl empires are associated with an un-setting sun. The Japanese Empire and it's "rising sun" flag. The saying of the world before the global liberation movements of the mid- to late-1900s: "The sun never sets on the British Empire." Very interesting parallels being made.
