But, every time i think about him for any more than 5 minutes, almost this exact rant is being told to whoever is unfortunate enough to be near me at the time.

another thing i think also really adds to this is just the nature of gerard keay. everything you can say about that guy could be ended with “and everone calls him jared for some reason”. hes emo and everyone calls him jared for some reason. his hair dye job is so miserable that EVERYONE mentions it and everyone calls him jared for some reason. he has mommy issues and everyone calls him jared for some reason.

Kinda got a love/hate relationship with the history of K/S because it's like. Can I please have a queer discussion about this 1960s television show without it being reduced to "shipper discourse". Can I ask your opinion on what you personally think a good redemption arc for Megatron would be? I agree with your opinion of IDW/ES’s attempts because it really feels like something is…missing.

this is kinda critical, and it may be strange coming from me because over the past year I've tended to be soft on megatron but I've also been looking at characters with a more critical lens....so if hardcore megatron critique offends you then just look over. also...these are MY opinions.

What is missing is actual accountability, because in none of Megatrons redemption arcs does he ever actually take accountability, at least not in a way, IMO, that does anything for the narrative or holds him accountable.

There’s a lot of things that could’ve been done different. while I don’t really agree with how things are going in ES in regards to his character, what I do like is that Megatron’s past actions are finally coming back to get him. And by that, I mean that all the Decepticons have practically turned their back on him, which I love. And it also shows the organization can and in some cases should exist without him. I think what I didn’t like about ES, is that his redemption fell flat because he didn’t really understand a lot of what he did wrong. Meaning that, yes he was very sympathetic about being a warlord, and causing war and stuff. we even saw how much he cared about the deceptions and how angry he’d get when he thought that Optimus was working with GHOST to subdue the cons.

However, Megatron’s care for the Decepticons in ES is very very conditional. Meaning that if any Con had an issue with I’m, or literally wasn’t worshipping his feet or seeing him as a leader, he was prone to violence. This was shown with the Seekers AND Soundwave especially Soundwave — whom his peaceful facade broke the minute Soundwave held him accountable.

So I can’t say I completely hate ES, because it shows the flaws in taking a war lord and trying to make him a family grandpa, when he hasn’t really, truly been held accountable. But that’s also the thing that kinda makes me not like his redemption arc in ES. He is free, with the Autobots, with the Maltos, while his people are not. AND YES, for whatever reason, Megatron betrayed them. Maybe Megaton thought he was doing the right thing, maybe he thought it was saving the Decepticons, regardless it was still a bad look imo.

I hope ES points that out, how hypocritical he is, how the Deceptions don’t really want him as a leader because of that. 

IDW/Lost Light...

I love the Lost light, and i have a soft spot for LL Megs, but I really don't think Megatron deserved a lot of the nuance and care he got, when other characters had to suffer and didn't really get that. LIKE soundwave and other cons/ex-cons also deserved that nuance and love he got.

I think what i really hated however is how Megatron's presence on the Lost Light overshined a lot of the other characters. There was this need to push an unneeded redemption to the point that other people's narratives were overlooked. Rodimus suffered MASSIVELY for this, and he became an addition to Megatron' s arc, wherein he still had so much more growing to do. Now his character is solely tied to megatron and to me at least, it's kinda annoying. He deserves to exist outside of megatron but because there was a need for redemption for Megatron, he doesn't get that.

The relationship between Magnus and Rodimus, which needed to be highlighted, was HEAVILY destroyed because the narrative wanted Megatron to be the main character. And Roddy's trauma with being a prime was essentially downplayed.

I think that Megatron probably should've fought Unicron with the others in the end. And similar to starscream and soundwave, i think death, certain death would've been a great redemption for him. I'm not saying he can't be on the lost light for a while but essentially he wasn't held accountable for anything he did. he got therapy, he got a family, and he also got to leave to go to the functions universe and live a life he wanted.

and yeah maybe he gets executed, but there is also another megatron who was created with another LL, who doesn't get that, and he gets to be free and happy, while trillions are still dead because of him.

I don't think he actually got a redemption arc in the LL simply because he wasn't held accountable for anything. He got a very compelling, sympathetic story that i guess worked...

but i never saw it as redemption because he never was truly truly held accountable for what he did.

that's just my opinion. all of this is just my opinion so you don't have to agree with my takes!

Saw a post where people in the notes were arguing that behavior is only manipulative if it's intentional and planned, and tried to "prove" it with, like, Baby's First Example Of Manipulation ("if you don't do xyz, I'm gonna do abc.") and it's been ten minutes and it's still giving me hives. They were literally like "do we need to take 'manipulative' away and put it on the shelf" because they don't understand what manipulative behavior is.

Look if you (generic) think manipulative behavior has to be conscious, intentional, and planned, you are absolutely clueless and ripe for being manipulated. People can be i.n.s.a.n.e.l.y. manipulative without realizing they're doing it, and not recognizing that is, frankly, dangerous.

Feyre Archeron is a warrior by necessity. She fights for survival out of necessity, not because she loves it. Feyre picks up her bow and arrow because its a matter of life and death and not because she harbored dreams of conquering cities or joining armies.

Of course she put that weapon down in favor of tranquility and peace the first chance she got. All Feyre ever wanted to do was paint in peace- she says that in the first few chapters in ACOTAR. She wanted her family to be safe so she could paint without worrying about the world.

I'm so tired of people coming for her for deciding to have a family or acting like there is something disgusting and foul about wanting to be a young mother. It's not a choice you'd make for yourself- thats valid. But its so in line with Feyre's character to want that.

In the midst of a looming war, Feyre doesn't want a baby. She has to be the warrior. She changed her mind once the war was done- after she watched Rhys die and thought they all might die, too- that's not some massive betrayal or weird retcon/authorial insert. That's just...Feyre...finally having some peace and realizing it was finally safe to start building the life she had always wanted.

Sorry I'm still thinking about impulse so here are things that happen in that movie since apparently it's just "disturbing" and "a regular political thriller" not propaganda or a qanon movie:

There's a secret society running the world. The price to enter said society is killing your firstborn in a ritual sacrifice. While no babies are killed on screen we do see a baby on a blood bowl and it is safe to assume that baby died after the scene cut.

The secret society is blackmailing a candidate to presidency. They are doing it because they need him to go against voter id laws so that it's easier for the society to commit election fraud.

The secret society controls the media. They manipulate the way the multiple deaths in the movie are going to be perceived. They also order the murder of a mother and debate killing the kids too.

The secret society is also doing human trafficking. The protagonist admits to being gang raped by all members while she was underage.

At one point they offer the president candidate a kid if that's what he's into.

There's an f slur like, 30 seconds in. Multiple n word too.

Lou's character has all the information to dismantle the secret society but uses that information to blackmail his way in.

The main actress and original writer has stated that that is not fictional but an accurate description of the truth and reflection of her experiences.

Knut Hamsun is like the norwegian 1940s equivalent of JK Rowling. They're mirrors of each other, and I truly believe Rowling's future will be what Hamsun's legacy became.

An influential and internationally acclaimed author whose climb to success despite all odds should have been (could have been) inspirational, but their horrificly bigoted beliefs and actions will forever taint their legacy. Their work will continue to be celebrated and studied all around the world for years to come despite it all. They'll never truly fall into obscurity because their impact can't be ignored, but for every class they're used in the teacher will give caveats. They will warn and remind how this author used their influence, they'll analyse and break down their politics as much as they talk about their writing.

The students will be exposed to their work for the first time, fully aware of the damage caused, and as they read they'll connect their words to their prejudice and they'll feel disgust. They'll hear their name and think "bigot" simultaneously with "author" and they will grieve that someone brilliant and talented destroyed and took away from the world more than they ever gave. Even the class clown will become serious for a moment, and ask why we're celebrating someone like this, why are streets named after them? Why are they awarded, and why are there institutions and statues dedicated to them and their work still? There won't be a clear answer. And so they learn to be critical. Other stories will be read and cherished, but in the back of their mind they'll remember the beloved author, the national icon who used their craft as a weapon against the vulnerable, who defended the indefensible. Eyebrows will be raised and eyes will be narrowed as they read and recognise that same old pattern, and they'll not be surprised by the next author. Hurt and betrayed, yes. but not surprised.

People will still find comfort and beauty in their work, it's inevitable because it exists. They'll find something of worth, they'll find something to love, but the love will always be tainted by conflict. There will always be a "but..." attached, because the author left the world in a worse place than they found it and it can't ever be ignored or forgotten.

Is it bad that I'm starting to genuinely find the story too clean for it to be "good"? Like, it's so pure and so black and white coded on some areas that I physically just had to stop and go "... Eh, this is boring".

I get it. Genshin isn't flawless and that there's some issues with it etc etc, and that it's not always cut and dry, but you get what I mean, right?

I just find the game far too clean to really enjoy the nuances behind a person's actions. It's almost like a game of "oh great, who's gonna be this storylines bbeg?" and rolling my eyes when it's going to be the fatui after x amount of times.

Yes yes I'm aware the abyss order is bad and the fatui and oh their methods should be stopped whatever, but how about us? How about the people we help that are actually not as good as we think? How about those we made as companions turning against us because we trusted them?

I don't know, I just... Find it too straightforward with it's method. So much so that I've grown bored of. Yk. Following the plot along?

Maybe I'm just tired but. Yeah. Genshin's story is boring and I don't really find it exciting to go through it again. If anything, I just find their way of portraying good and evil just... So restrictive and so fucking cliche. It's driving me nuts and I WISH the devs would make it like HSR where it doesn't hold back on the dark themes.

I know it should've done that since Inazuma or Liyue or MOND, but to get that in Sumeru and Fontaine just makes what happened prior pale in comparison. And also, it's boring to look back on them because all I think now is "damn, they held back too much, now it looks like your stereotypical hero saves the day."

This is my Cult of the Lamb AU called Legacy AU! The premise is that everything is the same up until Narinder's betrayal. During the brutal fight the youngest of the five, Leshy, succumbs to his wounds and dies.
