reading your response to the ousai/saiou ask made me realise, I don't actually know if with the ship name order people mean the one who tops or the one who doms or takes charge in general?? i'm curious what you're thinking of with ousai (and do you maybe know how other people approach this topic?) thank you!!

i feel like i've been talking too much lately so i'll just, put this under a cut to explain more,

so: the order of names is significant in eastern (bl) fandom spaces; from left to right, it's (top/攻め)x(bottom/受け). it usually denotes positions for spicy content, but in not-spicy content can also denote a portrayal of the characters' attitudes towards the relationship (e.g. initiator/pursuer x receiver). because some creators/fans are very specific about their preferred portrayals (you'll see stuff like (ship)🔄❌ or 左右固定, 'left/right fixed positions' in bio), strictly labeling ship content is courteous because it allows other fans to find/avoid it as they wish.

as far as i've seen, in western fandom spaces people tend to pick whatever portmanteau of the characters' names sounds good to refer to the pairing in general, though i've definitely seen others who follow the same naming conventions ^ as above when referring to ships. if you're not sure what to call it if commenting it's probably safer to just use the same nomenclature OP uses.

(for me specifically, i more or less follow eastern bl naming scheme, which is why i answered the last ask about saiou/ousai that way... but i also tend to write or draw any ship i like as 🔄. i mentioned before that i tag everything to "saiouma" on tumblr for convenience's sake, but on twtr where there's substantially more overlap with eastern fans, i usually label my stuff as either  🏁🔎 or 🔎🏁 or even 🏁🔎🏁.)

Why is Dain your favorite?!

Lol, Dain isn't my favorite per se but I think he's overhated by the fandom. He's a bit of a dick but in a very.. how your dad would give you eyeroll-worthy but ultimately good advice kind of way. Xaden also shares a lot of similar characteristics as Dain but he's off the hook so easy but Dain is just made to sound like a horrible person. I just want everyone judged in the same scale ya know?

He insisted Vi go to scribe quadrant, which while annoying af, was actually a very valid suggestion? That was her dream and she was forced to Riders? I mean, Xaden would have made his 100 something marked ones go to other quadrants too if the choice was there? To save their lives? He wouldn't stand by and see them falling one by one if he didn't have a choice. But y'all hated Dain for wanting to save her life THIS way but when he said he wont break rules to save her during training, it was like GASP HOW DARE HE!

Which brings me to: Dain followed rules. Which is apparently the worst thing ever but dun dun dun hypocrisy, when Cat got into Vi's head while fighting Vi and Rhi and everyone lost it.. because Cat wasn't following rules of combat so like you want rules followed but only when it's convenient for you, hm?

He read her mind once (not defending, he did bad thing yes) and shared info about Xaden to his father because he thought she was in danger. Xaden read her mind for weeks, and also reads minds of EVERYONE and that's okay but Dain's one time is despicable? I mean if he's so despicable, hate Xaden more? No? Yeah that's what hypocrisy is.

His whole "betrayal wasn't a betrayal" thing wasn't even a plot twist to me because the only reason to hate Dain was that Vi told you guys to hate him and y'all went with it. And I was really like yeah what did you expect you easily forgot he was your friend for years coz you made new friends?

Anyway, Not saying Dain was great, he had his flaws, but oh boy, he is not a villain like this fandom hive mind makes him out to be. Also disclaimer, I LOVE Xaden a LOT. So, this wasn't anti Xaden in anyway. Just pointing out facts.

hello why is kaishin more popular than shinkai or what i mean is why bottom shinichi is like the most widely believed one? lol not really in the fandom just vaguely familiar with the anime from childhood it's just my mutuals likes this ship. i'd thought shinichi being the top would be more popular given his personality.

imma be real honest with you, anon, i've loved the kidco dynamic since i was conan-sized but i only realized kaishin should be making out around 2021 so i don't know if i'm the best person to answer this question LOL BUT, i'll give you an answer!

tbh, i think for fandom shipping in general, the main character more often than not is the chosen bottom and whoever else is the other party is topping them. in japanese media especially, the ship names are mostly born from putting the kanji of their names together wherein the order of which indicates the seme and uke. since this happens early on, we kinda get stuck with that as the popular ship name whether you prefer the other way later on.

perhaps kaishin is more popular but not entirely by a lot compared to other ships where it's completely skewed to one side. i see a lot of shinkai too. ofc there are people who prefer one way over the other exclusively and that's completely fine!

personally, i think confining them into seme and uke or top and bottom does a great disservice to the kaishin dynamic because to me we should be looking at their sub-dom dynamic more and why they're actually peak switch sub and dom!!!!

that's fucking right kaishin is actually peak switch and i will die on this fucking hill!!!!!!!!!!

when you say shinichi would be the "obvious top," i'd like to assume in your heart you actually meant "the obvious dom" (LOL) but i think that could also apply to kaito.

i think the appeal of kaishin is the push and pull between them. the give and take. they're always trying to one-up each other. sometimes one pushes and the other gives way, sometimes it's the other way around.

i will be honest, perhaps switch pairings might just be my preference but I have never encountered a pairing that felt this completely equal in the switch department more than kaishin. like for other ships i'd sometimes be like, "yeah they switch but A is 70% more dom than B." But for kaishin I'm like, "oKAY THEY'RE 50/50 THEY'RE EQUALS THEY'RE PERFECT HALVES RAAAAAHHHH"

now how does this answer your question? well, i have no proof and im going off of vibes and like i said im no veteran in this ship fandom but, i think a lot of people do enjoy the other way around as you think it would've been. it's just that...it's something that can just be filed under the kaishin tag too. because it's basically the same sometimes. the only different thing is who's topping and bottoming. like sometimes i'm scrolling through twitter and i'd see art that's giving shinkai but it's tagged as kaishin and vice versa lol.

also personally i prefer calling them kaishin because i love the letter k and i associate the name shinkai more with makoto shinkai so every time i see people refer to kaishin as shinkai, my mind just conjures up an image of kaito, shinichi, and makoto shinkai together and i know that's fucking hilariously weird but it sometimes happens!!!! LMAO so even if i'm thinking about shinkai stuff, i still prefer using the name kaishin lol.

(but having the kaishin/shinkai distinction is definitely still useful especially for people who want to filter through one way or the other so fuck yeah to the ship name shinkai you're here to stay!!!)

anyway in conclusion, top shinichi is popular too dw lol, or maybe i should say bottom kaito is popular too lol i see yalls

c!tommy apologist but my best friend irl was a c!dream apologist so often I would hear all these different perspectives, so it put me in this grey area. I don't think c!dreams obsessed with c!tommy, however I think he enjoyed harming him and separating him from others as that was even said by ccdream not verbatim. And, I believe that narrative wise it makes a lot of sense that c!tommy would believe he was after him considering c!dream put that idea in c!tommys head so the idea of c!dream saying, "why do you think I am obsessed with you?" doesn't track, like this guy repeatedly made it out that he was targeting c!tommy. He should know why c!tommy believes he's after him.

Early days; even once their war is finished c!dream continues to try to get the discs and targets c!tommy despite other people causing more damage.

L'manberg era; he targets c!tommy over anyone else even over c!wilbur.

Pogtopia era; he gives c!tommy mars and despite claiming to hate chaos he destroys a building with c!tommy.

Exile era; despite this being off the back of c!tommy liking c!dream, c!dream still goes around the server destroying things with c!puffy then frames c!tommy for it with the goal of wanting everyone against c!tommy then later on he taunts c!tommy and provokes him then in actual exile he makes c!tommy dependent on him. At the end of it during l'manberg dying again he says 'you're just too fun' despite c!tommy wanting to move on.

Prison era; not only gets c!tommy stuck in prison with him, but also tries to bond with him like 'back in exile'

Break out era; chases c!tommy down with an axe claiming that he will kill and revive him over and over, later on has signs up of smiles and 'watch your back' further making it look like that he is tracking c!tommy down.

Like if you were in c!tommy position, you would 100 percent believe this guy was out to get you 24/7.

so my newest fic is.... a post apocalypse mer au!

ehehe!!! :3c i mentioned it in some of the author notes of claw at the stars and im soooo excited to actually finish chapter 1 of it!!! its only like. 30% done so far bc im playing video games non-stop on my writing break but im chugging along xD

the basic summary is that after a meteor strikes the earth (again), humanity has had to rapidly evolve to survive the harsh conditions of rising sea levels and much harsher temperatures. (id elaborate more on some science and biology stuff ive been brainstorming too but that's SPOILERS </3) more under the cut!

long story short, theres evolved people and creatures evolved from people on land and merfolk evolved from people in the sea! plus theres new languages thanks to evolving and changing vocal chords! (reallyyyy i just wanna get wacky with humanoid designs xD can you tell i like doing that yet???)

as for the fic, here's a quick summary of the very basic plot :3

a few decades after this meteor hits, the daycare attendant wakes up from an emergency shutdown in the ruins of the pizzaplex. with no telling of how many years its been, they have to pick up the pieces of where they left off and navigate this new world. with the help of y/n (dats YOU!!!), a mer who ended up on land, they slowly get their bearings and try to settle in to their new life, scrounging for parts to repair themselves in the overgrown remains of cities.

y/n has never even thought about going on land, but of course, the one time they do they have to drag around a robot that doesn't even understand what they're saying. sun and moon, meanwhile, latch onto you like a lost puppy as they try their best to learn the new language and figure out what you keep signaling to them.

(why were you on land? can't say! since, well, it would be spoilers...)

theres gonna be tons and tons of fluff and mystery and adventure and romance and LOREEEEE! all the tropes im obsessed with! and of course vanessa is here too because i love herrrr :3

anyways, i cant share toooo much besides the basic summary since i love being vague and mysterious hehehe but! im nearly done with the first chapter :3 it will likely be out sometime in january, IF not january 1st! im super motivated :3c

In her Sabbat timelines however, it leads to her being much more easily manipulated by Silas (Toxic Vampire Relationship anyone?)

Sophie’s wardrobe is more extensive than her lore at all given times. 😂 The amount of pretty dresses and lingerie and jewelry I have saved for her grows basically every day.

I'm just so weak for his tough/angry on the outside but total softy on the inside thing. He loves his family and friends so aggressively, like, literally- but also bystanders too? He has such a big heart and feels a lot, it just gets channeled into anger/punching most of the time. I can also somewhat relate to his hotheadedness as growing up (and often now still) I was prone to being quicktempered...which I'm not too proud of and try my best to manage these days. I understand his struggle (￣０￣;

He has some of the best oneliners and his line delivery is some of my favourites in the whole 2003 show. The whole franchise really. Plus he hates bugs and I feel him on that.

If I wasn't away from home rn I'd probably go a little more rambly about it all and go full on w screenshots and everything but- yeah, I just think he's neat 🥲

Hello! I'd like to ask permission to use your splatband Oxygen Tank as the in-universe performers of some Splatoon music I've been crafting and hope to upload soon:

I am a composer who dabbles in writing Splatoon music or otherwise sploon-ifying remixes. Currently I have plan to upload a song a day between the Splatfest on the 17th to the day before Side Order comes out (the 21st).

Of those tracks, I noticed these two have a similar sound to them, so I went "window shopping" for a splatband to attribute them to. The compositional style of Oxygen Tank (as you describe it) seems a pretty good match for this pop-punk shibuya-kei combo I've bumbled into. I dunno, I'm not good with genres. I am, however, a fan of little goobers.

I also have a YouTube channel I'll be uploading to, but the posts on Tumblr will be more elaborate — I'll probably include some lore from the blurb you've written or anything you'd like to add / include.
