First of all Ashlie and Jon did was gross, but where Jon failed at literally everything Ashlie succeeded.

When the news dropped of what happened in 2017 Jon made a fucking video of him crying like a little man child, and then pressed charges (also doxxed himself like an idiot) WHICH IS INSANE BEHAVIOR. Even in his written respone he was only making excuses.

At that time I was in very close connection with him, I was on his build team, I played multiple games with him. He would come into vc and hang out with us for several hours, you could consider us friend maybe! I wouldnt.

But I was at the very least in a lot of personal servers.

So when things dropped I knew almost all of the behind the scenes BULLSHIT that was happening. How everyone waited for it to blow over and stuck by him. (I got kicked out of servers too cause people knew i was against him but I was still told everything by friends who were still in there)

Then February happened. And so much more, much worse things got exposed. From only his end. I won't mention who was involved, out of privacy reasons and because I dont want to drag them into this. But holy shit dude everyone left him after that. It was over, his gross behavior with minors (included me now that i think about, sir why are you calling me and my friends cute we are 15-) His awful and manipulative behavior with people he finds useful, how he treats his teams

. He never credited anything, I made his goddamn Dimensions s2 designs, Eddie made the skins. Only Eddie was mentioned, once on a stream.

Eddie also made designs and skins for Rosethorn, and got credited in video no less.

Its not that hard and yet!

The main point is

He was still acting in 2020, the incident was in 2017. And he was acting like this, in late 2020. Into 2021.

I wanted him to get better. I really did, I had been hyperfixated on this group of people for years it hurt a lot.

But its been almost three years and he infact has stayed the same!

He is a grown ass man acting like a toddler on a public twitter account, what makes this man some one to respect in any sort of way.

Theres so much more shit I know about this man, that I can't fucking say because of the people involved not giving me permission too. And I respect that. Thats their story to tell.

Now ashlie on the other hand.

Ashlie made a concise apology and owned up to her actions, shit she made sure not to happen again. She went to fucking therapy, she broke off that relationship first and has made so much effort to distance herself from that and apologize everyday of her life.

She went to therapy after breaking things off, and she went again after the callout just to double fucking check she wasnt a horrible person.

She initially handled everything that happened in 2017 in private, like youre supposed to do. Not have a public twitter meltdown. And in late 2020 still handled mostly everything privately. She wrote out a full explanation and apology that is still very visible on her yt channel, not her twt her full 100k subscriber yt channel

I THINK, THATS GROWTH and she should be respected for that. She's actively changed as a person from the 20yr that made mistakes

And what's crazy is that Max and Ross still make youtube videos with her.

Max and Ross, YKNOW. The people who made sure fucking Jinbop got arrested and stomp Sky's name into the fucking ground for the shit that Sky did. I 100% trust those two to make a decision about a person in their circle when theyre doing some FUCKED SHIT.

IN FACT, THEY DID DROP ASHLIE WHEN THE ALLEGATIONS CAME OUT. SHE WAS IMMEDIATELY KICKED OUT OF EVERYTHING INVOLVING THEM

And they came back. They came back and started making new things and videos with her, Ross is an active participant in almost all of her videos.

I think that speaks wonders about her.

Don't drag her name through the ground I respect that woman and all of her endeavors in the future, she has more than made up for the fact.

Jon is still an awful person, and I dont think he will ever change. He's had more than ample time to and acts like whinny child on Twitter. Actively tries to pull nostalgia bait on his dying yt channel and mocks his ex "friends'" work. I want him gone from the youtube sphere and to get an actual life.

oh no, don't tell me you're autistic, too. (I JUST REALIZED HOW BAD THAT SOUNDS I SWEAR I MEAN IT IN A GOOD WAY) i had a realization a few months ago after i got diagnosed as autistic at the ripe age of 27 that. practically half of all the blogs i followed. were manned by fellow autistic people. like. i was having this huge revelation that i had been going undiagnosed and doing my best to be "normal" like everyone else my whole life when i legitimately had a different fecking kind of brain structure than what ALL of those "normal" people that i was comparing myself to had that explained all of the differences between me and them as just a fecking PHENOTYPICAL difference that explained why i could not function in the same way as neurotypical folks AND THAT IT WAS ABSOLUTELY NOT MY FAULT THAT I WAS STRUGGLING BECAUSE I WAS BORN WITH A BRAIN THAT STRUGGLES WITH THIS SHIT SPECIFICALLY and then i just. saw a post from someone i followed talking about their autism. and i was like. what. *system error* and then i realized that EVEN MORE of the people i followed were autistic. and that--for YEARS--i had been unwittingly surrounding myself with fellow autistic folks with anime and video game hyperfixations and i just. never realized. like damn. i'm kinda like all of these cool people i follow and share special interests with. coincidence. wait WHAT- and goddamn i've had a lot of time to process this and i genuinely think this is one of the funniest things i've ever done in my life and i wanted to share that with someone. so, uh, thank you for being awesome and autistic with me. much appreciated. also prone to breakdowns when things are too cluttered (i just thought it was anxiety growing up- akdjkajdkljakd).

indeed! i haven't posted anything about them! (except one (1) kyoko cameo)

i do like the other games!! i've only watched playthroughs of dr1 and 2 (and read a summary of udg. i haven't had the time to watch a playthrough yet "OTL).

THH was popular when i was in middle school (Kyoko Kirigiri and Sakura Ogami were very relevant to my tween am-i-gay?™ crisis) and around that time SDR2 was already out, i think? (yes it was i just googled it.) so i have been an extremely casual dr enjoyer until recently. when drv3 came out i genuinely had no idea and legitimately thought it was a very elaborate fangame some people i followed occasionally posted about (hi, nice to meet you! im Very Dumb!!)

i got SUPER sick last summer so i watched a bunch of lets plays and now im in hyperfixation hell!!

DRV3 is specifically the game my brain has been obsessed with because themes of real vs fake/fiction vs reality/meta-bullshit fall directly into my personal interests. Plus, out of spite (and the game being on sale at one point), i actually played it on my own in may, which has just amplified my current hyperfixation and now im here. on tumblr. actually engaging in fandom. wowza.

makoto is so goddamn stupid i love that for him, he is genuinely so dumb. even though kyoko and togami are supposed to be on the smarter side, they are also occasionally morons (both of them. BOTH OF THEM went "poison? bet." and ingested it) therefore makoto comes off even DUMBER. (affectionate)

I exist on twitter mostly for ow content from other fans but like goddamn is the ow hate train there so incredibly annoying. blue checks and brand accounts hating on the game for things that don't deserve criticism like cinematics or its general aesthetic and themes. the cinematics have always been good. the art direction is good. there are plenty of people who work on the game who have a genuine passion for what they do on it. the confusion of the people who work on it versus the corporate overlords of actiblizz can be a little. lol. one has to understand they are different. it's a 'mishmash' of aesthetics because the game takes place globally. With multiple organizations and groups. also, it's a common formula for any game that relies on having unique characters with unique kits. The lore explains why everything is the way it is, there's plenty of official comics and written stories, in-game interactions, etc. theres a large group of people like me who play this game because of the lore, characters, and the setting. ik its engagement farming for money but ughhhhh. I've hyperfixated on overwatch since 2015 and there are certainly things to criticize like the monetization and whatnot (if they allowed you to get your currency back in the BP I think it'd be mostly fine) but ughh im just tired of the hate, it does not nearly deserve the amount of hate it gets as a game compared to all the other games who do similar things.

Im done hyperfixating on that piece but before I go to sleep I'm gonna complain about how much the spell system in D&D sucks ass and I despise any ttrpgs thats been infected by it.

Both on paper and in video game form spells in D&D have always been a constricted, unpleasant mess. I have no issue with spells needing specific components (materials, verbal, somatic, etc.) but balancing spells by demanding that they be individually prepped is so obnoxious. A large amount of spells are roll based, both based on yours and sometimes those affected, meaning that a whole slot can be wasted simply by bad luck.

Normally this wouldn't be an issue, but since the vast majority of spells you can pick can be completely doomed by simple shit rng, it puts the player in a position where they are discouraged to be creative, and to simply choose spells that just have reduced effects if resisted. This is amplified by the fact that based on your class level you get only so many slots to use, meaning that choosing a slot for a more interesting spell sacrifices a spot for something more useful simply for being more effective regardless of the situation.

Now, mind you, I'm not saying that spells should be nerfed to compensate for removing such a restriction, but that being the foundation of spells is so lame and inflexible. Being a low level caster is NOT FUN because you have like three slots to ration, while being a high caster is NOT FUN because most of your spells are doomed against tougher enemies with high bonuses, so why bother trying to force the guys to dance with magic if they'll just shrug it off. Don't get me started on concentration on top of this, BG3 is solid proof of how much that sucks.

I very much prefer something like Shadowrun's magical system. In that game, you can cast magic and even amplify without shit like feats or slotting spells. You can spend karma to get more spells, skills, etc to make your casting so exciting. To balance the crazy shit people can do, however, they have to do things like rituals and use magic foci to keep themselves balanced, and more importantly they have to contend with drain.

The severity of drain depends on the spell and how much oomph you decide to put on whatever youre casting, and failing to do so will cause stun damage based on what failed to resist (or if its really potent it can cause physical). Anyone who has played shadowrun knows that being knocked out is pretty bad, and potentially worse because if your stun boxes are maxed out, the remaining damage will go into your physical boxes, meaning you could flat out DIE from pulling crazy shit.

THATS what magic is, its the person channeling their very will, in some systems even their own life force, into pulling amazing shit. Magic shouldn't be some spell filing cabinet nonsense, it should be holding a hulking monstrosity down with your mind to buy time while blood is trickling down every part of your face, blasting your whole arm off point blanking a fireball into an armored vehicle, losing your goddamn mind because you completely botched casting a particularly nasty spell!

Magic has always, at its core, been a free thing capable of doing anything so long as the person puts their mind, body, and spirit into it. It shouldn't be chained down, let alone to the most boring ass shit.

Tbh I really like the... what's the word. Stuffy??? (That's not quite right but it works) sort of sound Kaeya's eng voice has on the early quests and voicelines, though I think they may have tried to slightly up the animeness(?) of it in some later ones (which doesn't sound bad, either; just an observation). It's very human and feels more like a real, genuine voice than the [generic smooth playboy Femme Fatale: Guys Edition] voice some people seem to think of him with would have.

He is smooth and witty and charismatic sounding by design (both his own in-character and by actual marketing character design), and that's good, and I'm definitely not saying anyone talks like he does irl* - I just appreciate them letting him have that smidge of Some Real Guy voice too. It adds character distinction and charm. Like you can hear it some in the "Knight of Favonius" line I think?? That I do hear people talk like in my daily life.

It's interesting, actually; I'm not actually that familiar with most characters' other language voicings (this is extremely still a stupid gacha game (affectionate) and I have a life, hyperfixation be damned), or know enough about the languages to distinguish tone beyond the most obvious, but there are definitely character differences.

I do often see fans of the Kaeya's Chinese voice complaining about his Eng character being more flirty-toned and sadistic, when in it he's a bit more friend's-older-brother-coded (my own 'what I'm reminded of', though the older-brother-ness sentiment def isn't original to me) and pranksterish. And I saw someone joke at one point that Korean Kaeya is just too chill to be the Kaeya in their fic because he's too calm to be bothered by any of it.

One other example I'm familiar with is Childe: ENG shows anger really well, and is a bit more childish and hypocritical, but [I forgot which language but I think it was Chinese or Japanese?] Childe was more resigned and accepting of Sometimes Lying Happens Back To You, if still upset about it, and slightly more mature about that incident. (I looked into his because I saw someone saying they thought that made more sense with him being someone who had to tolerate the Abyss, and I got curious.) And Korean Childe sounds slightly more violent, in my opinion, at least on some of the more playful english lines.

I think all of the characteristics are interesting, of course, and I suppose they're all 'canon' in each language. In terms of fan stuff, I think it just depends on what the goal is! I just go by preference, but I have seen people specify what "language" of each character they're thinking of for stuff before, and even mix and match a few times.

*(related: while I was looking into the voice differences I happened across a clip where his VA was going on this whole thing about how much breathing the Kaeya Voice takes. It is literally so full of air - catch in universe Kaeya silently inhaling as much as he physically can every time no one's looking at him.)

i have several bones to pick with the english voice acting (and most of them have to do with with the goddamned anime-ness which i am, most of the time, not super fond of) but i actually really like kaeyas voice! particularly early game lol which is also a constant with genshin voiceovers for me.. what i really like about kaeyas eng voice is like. the cadence of his words. the rhythm of his speech. it sticks in my head and i keep repeating his voicelines to myself like a stim lol but anyway. once again i digress.

those are really cool details to know about! i had never looked into it before; im not familiar w like.. any of the other voiceovers (stupid gacha game (affectionate) and all that) (i thought about switching to a diff language a while back but i was too attached to kaeyas eng voicelines and that singlehandedly made me decide against it lmao) but i think it's pretty fun how the tone of the voice actor and the words chosen in translation can slightly change the characterization sometimes. i think the smooth talker flirtatious tone kaeya has influences a little how i imagine him, like, what sort of persona he displays to others, what he wants people to believe he is like, etc. in the end its all subtleties! and i love the idea of mix and matching these little characterizations when making fanon content because that is what fandom is all about babey

i tend to play primarily one game for years at a time, and i will dabble in other games but nothing really big or as thought/time consuming as the current one

so i started playing star rail the other day and goddamn i forgot how difficult it is to learn a host of new mechanics, characters, lore, what is this shit in my inventory, wishing system ??!, it’s not weapons, it’s cards w effects? no artifacts (tentative question mark)

i dunno wtf is happening or what i’m doing but uhh i got pretty man and pretty woman on my team doing numbers (whether those numbers are good or not is yet to be determined)

i do wonder what it was like for someone to play it without having any experience with genshin. bc i’m playing it w 2-3 years of genshin under my belt so there’s things i understand and things i really really don’t understand lol but story wise, im looking at it from the perspective of that theory that teyvat was a planet a long long time ago. like this is set in the far future after teyvat is like destroyed and is in ruins or smth

currently more interested in how shit ties back to genshin than the actual story bc 1) genshin hyperfixation and 2) it’ll take me a bit to actually get settled in the new universe, gameplay, and storyline. right now my take on the game is fairly neutral and kinda confused so u know it comes down to the natural inclination to match the unknown with the known

im kinda sad cause I've been playing it almost every day for over a year. Had a veeeery strong hyperfixation.

but at this point, no matter how hard i tried to get attached to the characters and story, the writing is so messy and the quality so unpredictable that it's tiring at this point

ten uis in one game. so many random, unimportant things to do that satisfied my depressed brain, but aren't that fun anymore

I still fucking adore the world, the story, the manhuas, and the part 1 characters (esp Welt, cannot wait till I get him in hsr) but its really tiring to pretend to like the game at this point

I'll try to combeack when APHO3 finally comes out (the sillies <33), when they continue Welt's story in hsr (theyre edging me fr fr), or when they finally fix the whole goddamn UI
