Physically speaking, all Kel Dor are biologically the same (Im electing to ignore the breasts because they’re not mammalian, there’s literally no reason for them what the fuck) and every Kel Dor can sire or bear children. The only real variations among Kel Dor that are clearly visible is the varying heights, and even then, there seems to be no real difference in identity.

For example, Plo Koon measures in at around 6′1″ but his sister— Sha’s mother— is 6′3″. On the other hand, their Uncle is a towering 6′7″

Gender is rather fluid because of the lack of physical differences among Kel Dor, resulting in a lack of gender roles and such among the people.

Kel Dor grow rather slowly until they reach around eighteen-twenty standard, in which they shoot up to their average six-foot-something height in most cases. It’s rare for them to be below six feet tall but it does happen every so often. 

Kel Dor have 28 vertebrae with ribs going from sternum to pelvis, though like the human ribs about half way down they no longer span across the whole torso. Their bones are denser with less bone marrow than humans as well, but just as flexible.

Kel Dor lung strength is much more than a human’s or any normal mammal would be, with Jedi Master Plo Koon’s being around forty-seven minutes.

The tusks and skin of a kel dor is very expensive and prized among black markets. What is a lesser known but still prized are the chiten of their nails/talons.

Kel Dor tusks are also used for communication.

Communication among the Kel Dor varies. There is a mental aspect, verbal aspects, and physical aspects.

The Kel Dor have a spoken language, one that is both spoken on the same sound frequency as humans and one that is not, as the natural Kel Dor voice does not reach the Human Ear very well off of Dorin / out of Dorin's unique atmosphere. 

So, that said, the Kel Dor can communicate on a wide range of sound waves, both on and off Dorin. It's not unheard of for Kel Dor to have conversations outside the normal hearing range of Humans, though semi discernible by Sentients who can hear on other ranges.

They also can communicate with varying clicking, whistling, warbling, and similar noises. Physically speaking, their tusks convey certain things as well, such as happiness, frustration, and so on.

They aren’t actually entirely insectoids nor do they really eat them like many assume but they find it funny and occasionally are known to emulate the terra insect “mantis” to trip others up.

In the event where a Mask is not possible to use or a Kel Dor wishes to forgo a mask off planet, A small opening in the soft part above the collarbone is created. A small tube is then inserted, however this prevents them from using their vocal cords while the tube is open. A low resting collar over this opening is to be set and has the same mechanics as their masks in order to do the anti-ox filtration. This can later be closed surgically and very little harm is done to the Kel Dor in the long run.

Many Kel Dor have medical implants that allow for this secondary option to be used along with the mask depending on the situation. The port where the tube is held is able to be modified to seal air tight in the even that the collar is not needed. 

(There is speculation that they did evolve from insect or bug-like creatures on Dorin, but if that is true or false is unknown to anyone but the Kel Dor)

Kel Dor appear to be toothless initially though their teeth are actually retractable and also razor sharp.

They also have this long ass tongue and a secondary set of jaws that collapse against their mouth and throat so they don’t fucking destroy the inside of their own mouths and throat.

Kel Dor have a slower metabolism, allowing a fully grown Kel Dor to be able to go anywhere from a week to a month without needing to eat a full meal. Off world, Kel Dor sometimes eat small portions once a day instead of eating a full meal all at once.

Kel Dor also have a smaller intestine system due to the extra organs in their bodies— namely, the egg pouches and egg sacs. Once the eggs of the young are lain, they are housed within the egg pouch until born.

Kel Dor eggs need to either be fertilized or lain, depending on what role the kel dor plays in the sexual relation. Should a kel dor be the one penetrating, then they eggs will be lain internally- in the case of this act with another Kel Dor using the mid abdominal slit for the egg pouch will suffice. The bearing partner’s own members will fertilize the sire’s eggs while their own are reabsorbed into their body.

Should the Kel Dor be the one to bear the children, and the partner is not another Kel Dor, then the eggs within the ovaries/egg sac must be fertilized. This is done through the other partner penetrating the slit between the legs. It is not unlike the vaginal slit of mammalian sentients, but lacks most of the same anatomy as one. The eggs then are carefully lain externally and then manually inserted into the egg pouch.

The implants last for about six years before needing to be renewed and no side effects have been seen. Kel Dor off planet also have the option to use injections as well, if they prefer.

Kel Dor can obviously produce children with other Kel Dor, but can also produce other non mammalian species through both siring and bearing. There is a very rare chance of bearing with a mammalian partner, but it is mostly written off as impossible.

Often, the children will take after the bearing parent, however if force sensitive enough to be considered possible Jedi, they will have the Kel Dor silver eyes no matter their outward appearance. They will often also inherit the Clan’s unique force gift and be natural telepaths. Their hands might also be taloned as well.

But in general, children among Kel Dor are rare. This is in part that Kel Dor reproduction in general is somewhat difficult— and that no one is sure why there is a low hatch rate / low number of children who survive.

The average egg clutch is anywhere between four to eight but often only one or two of the eggs survive. Twins are rare in Kel Dor society and when they’re born, there is great celebration.

So I was doing a survey and I just realized that I have a problem. Like serious fucking issues.

So basically I've been gifted at language arts my entire life

I started reading and writing before all the other children, so much so I never had to go to preschool.

I have nothing to be proud about except my talent in language arts, so much so that I have developed such a fear of being average

I constantly worry that one day I will just stop being above average, that ill be average or even below average, and once that happens I won't have anything to be proud of anymore.

I genuinely dislike myself and my natural talent in language arts is the only thing I like about myself. So once I stop being gifted I won't have anything to like about myself.

Don't worry though, I won't hurt myself or anything I have reasons to live but none of them really apply to me. They are genuinely just the fact that yttd and ytts aren't finished and I haven't finished evangelion and the Danganronpa games. That isn't a joke, that's actually my reasons. But either way it keeps me going so it doesn't matter what my reasons are as long as I have them

Back on subject, every time I show my work to my language arts teacher I get scared that I'm no longer good and she'll say "what happened? You used to be so smart?" That would entirely crush my self confidence and anything I've ever been proud of.

One thing teachers never seem to realize is that gifted kids have limits too, its so hard for me to keep trying to overachieve, its over for a reason.

I've always been expected to be smart and good at language arts since my parents have IQs in the 140s which puts me in a lot of stress since I need to be just as good as them

Once I stop being smart and above average, I will feel like I've lost worth. I'm worth something solely because I'm smart.

Either way I will keep living because of my reasons but I don't want to be worthless, I want to keep myself, my teachers, my parents all proud. I am so scared of being average because my entire life I've been expected to be above average.

Also in general, I'm not very important. I'm just some loner who stays by myself. The only thing I'm good at is reading and writing. I'd like to be seen as important, not for my talents, not for my intelligence but for me. That's why I like it here, 58 people, 56 of which I don't know, all of which allow my posts to constantly be on their dashboards. Not because I'm smart but because of dumb anime and game posts I make. Which I know doesn't make me important but it makes me feel important.

Of course part of my fear of stopping being above average is that I want to make others proud, I want to feel like I'm actually important. Like Im more than a loner with very few friends. I've counted, I only have 5 friends in total. Which isn't many but I care about them.

Once I stop being above average, people will stop being proud, they will stop praising me since I no longer have enough importance to be praised.

I think all this stems from wanting to be important, no wanting to be worthless, useless. It just happens that the only thing I'm good at is reading and writing, resulting in a serious fear of stopping being gifted.

James’ favourite subject is Flying

nothing compares to the feeling he gets when he’s racing against the wind

flying above the grounds of his school

he tends to show off his skills

performing tricks for his fellow classmates

flying out of his teacher’s reach when she scolds him

he doesn’t really pay attention to her remarks, though he does work very hard

he trains a lot because he wants Gryffindor to win the Quidditch cup every year

he’s highly competitive and confident in his abilities

he’s not a bad student in other branches, but he often gets distracted by his mates

he’s always playing pranks on teachers and showing up late to class, tie not made correctly

he absolutely hates anything too mathematical, which automatically ruins Transfiguration, Ancient Ruins, and Astronomy for him

though he still gets rather good grades in those subjects

however he loves Charms and gets excellent grades in that class

he is very clever and he doesn’t mind shoving it in certain people’s *Snape’s- cough cough* faces

when he chooses to work hard, it usually turns out great for him

though he doesn’t often choose to

Sirius

he’s probably the worst student out of all 4 marauders

too busy making his classmates laugh or teachers fume with anger

he’s been to dumbledore’s office so many times, he couldn’t even count them if he tried

he often finds himself in detention with Mrs. McGonagall, who keeps a very sharp eye on him

they always end up chatting towards the end of detention though

he would never admit it, but she’s his favourite teacher

he finds her brilliant and he adores pushing her buttons

Sirius is smart, but he gets bored easily, and his love for adventure gets in the way of long hours of work

he only really enjoys one class which is Defence Against the Dark Arts, because it’s the only one in which he can actually do something

it’s also because it’s the only class he actually finds useful aside from Charms

he is however a gifted wizard and even though he isn’t a very devoted student, his magical prowess never ceases to amaze the staff members of Hogwarts

his favourite spell is Wingardium Leviosa, with the occasional Alohomora

they always come in quite handy

Remus

while Sirius is the worst student in the group, Remus is definitely the best

he loves learning about magic

he also loves reading, which explains why he enjoys History of Magic so much

he’s always sitting somewhere beside a fire or against a cool window, reading a book about mythical creatures or about unfamiliar hexes

he’s passionate about Defence Against the Dark Arts, and he’s oftentimes caught waving his wand at objects in the dormitory, practicing his spells

it’s no surprise he’s the one who’s always helping his friends out with their homework

he never complains about their lack of work or motivation

he’s always willing to help them, unless he’s in a very bad mood

when he has his off days, he pretends he’s got a lot of work to do

when really he just stares into the void, unable to concentrate on his books

aside from those days, Remus pays a lot of attention to his classes

he enjoys each and every one of them for different reasons, though some more than others

if he had to pick one class he really didn’t like, it’d have to be Divination

he doesn’t like its illogical and inconsistent characteristics  

Peter

Peter’s not good in school, but he isn’t bad either

he’s just average

in everything

he’s not particularly passionate about anything, though he really enjoys Potions

unlike most things in life, if you follow the instructions properly, you always get the result you were hoping for, and that’s why he likes it so much

Peter works a lot but his grades unfortunately don’t always match up to his efforts

he gets very annoyed when James or Sirius get better points than him, especially when they boast about barely studying for the test

he thought he’d enjoy Flying, but his first experience on a broom traumatised him so badly he got a special permission slip not to have to keep attending the class

James used to tease him about it but eventually offered to help him deal with his fear of heights, a proposition he gratefully declined

while he isn’t particularly talented or skilled, he’s a very good listener, and he enjoys listening to his teachers talk, especially when they’re passionate about their subject

he often asks Remus for extra help or explanations and Remus gladly helps him out

he might not be an exceptional wizard, but Peter always tries his best

Alright so I’ve been trying to figure out how to make these words and what my opinions even are considering this game has been out for almost a year now (KH3 existing is wild imagine it turning a year old) so this will be. mostly bullet points + incoherent and unorganized rambling forgive me

BAD THINGS FIRST lets get the salt out of the way

Literally everything with Kairi was oof. I still feel her relationship with Lea is incredibly rushed given the last time they were interacting in canon he was literally kidnapping her but go off I guess nomura they’re brother/sister friendsy now at least the fandom can sell me on that better than you can. I seethe with rage recalling that they didn’t even try to hide that killing her off was a classic case of fridging (“You lack motivation” FUCK OFF) and I have been angry since the day I was spoiled by leak stuff accidentally. I wouldn’t have minded her getting her ass handed to her if they made it look like she tried and gave us some moments where she did defend herself and get some victories and not conveniently cut away from the actually badly needed training montage (surprise! this is why we have training montages!!!!) and I get she was instrumental in rescuing everyone and the fact she wasn’t THAT bad speaks for how much she improved but it still just. bites that she still feels more like a satellite love interest than ever. 

Kairi was bad enough to get her own thing but tbh everyone who isn’t Sora also.. really suffers. The writing is really Sora-centric here and that’s not inherently bad (see good list) but it leaves a lot to be desired, especially since they dog pile the extended cast moments in at the end. There was no big confusion at Ven and Roxas sharing a face, no talks between characters who would have interesting interactions given their histories and circumstances, no obvious sign of development from anyone except maybe sea salt family and Aqua. They’re here to be more one-note than usual and resolve their arcs. Ven in particular (I’m totally not biased clearly /sarcasm) I feel is a big example given he was kinda in a really rough mental state at the end of bbs?? and 3 is exceptionally vague on just how conscious ventus was during his nap so I can’t even answer if he was able to give himself therapy the past 12 years or whatever

Anti Aqua is a damn cool concept but ultimately kinda pointless and I think we could have received it better if it wasn’t spoiled in trailers and wholly out of left field. Plus Sora coming in after what was pretty clearly set up as a Riku moment- while it gave us the incredibly gay press triangle to Sora + use a big keyblade made from ur love moment -was uh! really cheap!!!! and ruined what was clearly set up for being Riku’s thing with an almost nonsensical SIKE ITS SORA (it’s saved from being wholly nonsensical by 0.2′s opening foreshadowing + it still kinda makes sense for sora to at least help but damn if the narrative wasn’t leading us towards a riku moment)

Also everyone was hit really hard with the nerf effect in-narrative so unless you’re the dream team you’re screwed I guess and that. doesn’t quite work since it makes everyone else look... not great. And I think this is kinda a miscommunication on part of Nomura and the fans (IM MAKING ASSUMPTIONS TAKE WITH SALT) in that we kept saying we wanted people “saved” but meant having their arcs resolved in a reasonable way that preserved their agency and power and relationships, but got interpreted literally as “alright Sora comes in and solves every problem, is tough on stains, and makes julienne fries”

And yet there’s also a lot of mean spirited “oh no sora’s dumb and helpless w/out a second braincell” which was kinda funny the first couple times and I failed to pick up on it first go I’ll admit, but honestly? Yeah. they pick on sora too much. Donald and Goofy are the most guilty, and everyone else by virtue of not seeing Sora that much actually in-narrative are off the hook from me because they probably didn’t know how much teasing he’d been getting from his pals, but it felt kinda like they didn’t know what to fall back on between the three besides “oh donald and goofy pick on sora” which is cute once or twice but the amount he gets and how it clearly leads to his breakdown at the end is uhHHHHhhhHH hm.

As always the pacing is pretty awful where the disney worlds are somewhat relevant at best and then the end is 0-1000 but that is a usual KH gripe so its pretty low on the bar

Attraction flow is cute and neat at first but it gets.. really wearing towards the end and in the serious fights at the Keyblade Graveyard BOY are they a mood breaker

the “repeat the plot” worlds- Tangled, Frozen, Pirates -REALLY stick out like a sore, ugly thumb compared to the worlds that went out and did their own creative thing, and Big Hero 6 was.. cute? but kinda maybe too much of a breather.

Frozen also get an extra award for “Audio mixer most in need of firing!” because who the hell allowed the do you want to build a snowman scene.

They did nothing with Scala and I want a refund on that aesthetic if they’re not gonna do anything besides a framing device with it

HEY WAIT THERE WAS GOOD THINGS TOO!

Good news point that may or may not come to pass: Re:Mind DLC might fix some of the above salt! We shall see and probably know by the time this post is a year old sfjhdsakjgh

SORA! Sora was actually a character again!!!! holy cow they pulled up from the utter nose dive that was DDD!! god i love this dork and it was really fantastic to see him back to normal.

The graphical upgrade lost a lot of the squish and stretch that the OG graphics had but you know what? pretty. tastey. good graphics and better at doing more subtle emotions and hey have i mentioned Pirate’s glow up? Pirate’s glow up. The details in Olympus to recreate the swirly aesthetic of the clouds and explosions and lava is a great touch.

Worlds as far as levels go?? really good! They feel legitimately like worlds and explorable and with their own flavors and I LOVE battle and field themes x2 its really great I’m down for less worlds if they keep the quality. Hell we have NPCs!! maybe even too many npcs.

Writing OVER ALL/ON AVERAGE I’d say has improved a lot! It’s still not a literary masterpiece or anything but I found the disney worlds really cute and easier to get invested in even if long term they were less relevant than I hoped they would be. In every world there was at least one scene I found myself actually invested in. Like there was something to the writing that was legitimately more endearing than usual on average, and toy box and monstropolis were strong contenders for really good overall imo

honestly there were moments that- as moments -were incredible. Wayfinder reunion scene will haunt me, and Sea salt’s was good too, final world and rescuing everyone was jaw dropping, getting the LoD Back was also good, Union X, Xigbar exiting left stage pursued by a bear, wayfinder trio making a grave for eraqus, all the gummi ship scenes had great chemistry, beach party ending, hanging out with rapunzel for the first half of Corona is adorable as hell, all the nods to scenes in the movies, the easter eggs, like the game is not consistently amazing but it is peppered with stuff that I feel in a bubble ignoring surrounding context just work really really well

Damn if the end boss rush wasn’t thrilling as hell and honestly??? really good. Hard to parse out first flush but I think this was a good decision and added a lot of blood roaring urgency and wild turns, and even if I want to overhaul a number of things about the endgame I think this can definitely stay

Over all there’s some really glaring issues, but overall it’s KH really at its best. I’m not sure if it’s my favorite entry and I’m still really mixed + befuddled on just how exactly I feel and I think a lot of that is I had pretty high expectations and my own ideas of how it would play out since like. 2012. it’s really hard to detach from those feelings and ideas sometimes. But KH3 wasn’t bad! It could’ve really been worse, and the fact that it got out the door in the state that it was is a good deal

now here’s to the wait for Re:Mind and to see if it’s basically the content we’d get in Final Mix that could definitely bump up my opinion

1. What do you like most/least about writing?

Oh gosh, I simply really like writing. Every step of the creative process exhilarates. Every word written is a breath of life out of me, a pump of blood through me. And that is an incredible, incredible gift for me. While every activity has pros and cons, writing is so complementary to my existence that I can appreciate even the downsides.

I have no idea how to put it in words beyond that, my friend. (Ironic?)

I guess what I like least is that I can’t (or at least shouldn’t) do it all the time. What is “it”? Daydreaming any second, with any energy, I can spare? Investing thought into every syllable I put forth? Looking into random topics constantly? Organising tirelessly? Revising anything I pen for hours and hours?

Yes.

Seriously, though. The inclinations and habits of a writer follow me wherever I may go, but sometimes I’m not supposed to brainstorm or care so much about the rhythms of sentences or review every word before me. And the part I dislike is not so much that these habits follow me—I’m proud of them—but that day-to-day life doesn’t always have a place for them. Which sucks.

4. Do you work with a beta? Why/why not?

With my novels, yes. Sometimes with my shorter multichaps. Rarely with my one-shots and ficlets. Never with my drabbles and challenge submissions.

When a story has more than one chapter, I can start to feel overwhelmed about the little things, since they’re not all in one place, you know? IDRK how to explain it, but yeah. Once it gets to that, it’s quite comforting to think, “I don’t have to stress about keeping track of everything, even when I’m revising, because I’ll have other eyes to help me out.”

However, when a story is not so unwieldy to handle by myself, getting a beta can prove to be the hard part. With so many fandoms, so few conventional interests, and so hectic a schedule, I’d need a different beta for every project and that’s just…a lot to juggle.

Either way, I recognise the hard and noble work to which betas dedicate themselves, and I am proud to share a creative space with them.

8. What kind of narrator do you prefer to write?

Unreliable narrators are intriguing, but they don’t tend to mesh well with the type of stories I write. Stream-of-consciousness narration doesn’t mesh well with…well, me. However, I do like limited narration. Omniscient can be fun with certain writing activities/challenges, but it just doesn’t go with the typical writing project of mine.

12. Do you tend to write long or short chapters?

Hooo, boy, long chapters fo’ sure.

My average chapter length is, like, six or seven thousand words. The short end of my chapter word count range would hover around 3k, but even that is rare in my bibliography. Most of my novels contain a 4k-long chapter, so I suppose that would be a more accurate “short end of my range”. As for the long end, well… I’ve written 10k+ chapters before. Whoops.

16. How do you feel about inquits (they said, he yells, etc.)?

Well, first off, I have never heard them called “inquits” before. I usually call them “dialogue tags”. Interesting LOL.

Anyway. I won’t use them if I don’t have to, and it can be fun to play with what constitutes “not having to”. I haven’t built up to Hemingway’s courage in yeeting dialogue tags inquits, but I look up to it.

When I do use them, I try to stick to “said”, “replied”, “asked”, and “answered”. Of course, I’m a fan of precise verbs above (pretty much) all else, so I’m also not afraid to stray from those inquits.

20. How do you feel about punctuation?

I love it (with wavering intensity) and I pay as much attention to it as I can. I enjoy details, I enjoy rules, and punctuation is just details with rules. Isn’t that beautiful?

24. Do you think a lot about story structure/arcs?

YES. So much. They’re the skeletons of stories and man do I like bones.

Honestly though, I can’t get down to business until I’m comfortable with the story’s structure and the characters’ arcs. And by “comfortable”, I mean, like. Intimate. Known inside and out. And even the eventual act of getting down to business means, for me, delving further into that structure, those arcs. For me, it’s more than just expanding them: it’s branching out, growing them.

Am I being overdramatic? Perhaps.

28. How do you approach writing new characters?

I pretty much just throw myself into it LOL. As a starting point, I give every character one verbal and one physical idiosyncrasy. I can’t think of any examples for my fanfics off the top of my head, so I’ll use Rosewood.

Ed says “yeah?” frequently. He’ll be like, “You’re my chief royal advisor, so I can trust you to tell me the truth about Gale, yeah?” to Duane or, “Keep everyone out of the east wing tonight, yeah?” to Etta. And his chin betrays his feelings a lot—the crease, stiffness, direction; whether and how he’s touching it. This may seem small and insignificant, but any kind of signpost can at least keep my characters distinct, and that can help me make them unique and real.

If I’m having trouble with a new character, I’ll either employ some Theatre Skillz to get into their head, or I’ll check out some OC question blogs. Tunglr is a real writer’s haven, yeah?

32. Do you write more canon compliant/divergent or full-blown AU?

I have a tendency to write canon compliant fics, although canon divergent fix-its are my bread and butter. However, Philinda has been really widening my berth. I’ve been writing so many AUs for them, it’s wild. But wildly fun! The only other full-blown AU project I’ve undertaken was a Hamilton novel, and I didn’t even finish it because I got tired of my own ideas LOL.

36. Do you use author notes?

I always have something at the very end of a fic, and usually I have a quick note about betas or inspiration (i.e. whether I used any for that part, who they were if I did, etc.) before each chapter.

40. What writing detail are you most proud of in CttC?

I did so much research. I even used some of my lovely newfound knowledge for my history IA, which my teacher really liked because it was a topic he had never encountered before. And despite having all that work, I still had a lot of fun doing the research and integrating it into the story.

SriLankan Airlines is a small carrier with just 26 aircraft in its fleet, so it sometimes gets overlooked. But its a member of the Oneworld alliance with British Airways, American Airlines and 10 other major carriers, so it was high time we gave Sri Lankas flag carrier a whirl.

As I approached the airport in a taxi, I noticed a sign for business-class passengers pointing off to the left of the main road into the airport. It was marked Silk Route, the name SriLankan gives the ground experience for its business-class passengers.

The cab pulled up outside and staff immediately brought up trolleys to take my bags to the terminal. There was a security check to get inside the building. All bags were scanned and people had to walk through metal detectors as an extra security measure. My name was then checked off a physical passenger manifest and I was led to one of two check-in desks, which were both empty. There was a huge seating area with tables and chairs.

I went out into the main terminal, walking past the main check-in desk on my way. I noticed there was a dedicated Sri Lankan business-class desk here too, which was also for Oneworld Emerald and Sapphire elite members, and a second priority check-in lane for Oneworld Ruby members.

The lines at immigration were short and I headed into the main airside departure hall. The airport is actually quite fun, with a row of over-the-top souvenir shops besides the more typical international duty-free options.

There were two lounges I was eligible to use: the Serenediva for Oneworld Sapphire members, and the superior Serendib for business-class passengers and Oneworld Emerald members. I checked out the more basic lounge first, which was small, drab, windowless and rather depressing. It also had poor food offerings although at 11 a.m. they were between meals, according to a sign.

The Serendib is more impressive. Its brighter, with runway views through large windows. The greeting at the door was welcoming and I was offered a 20-minute complimentary massage.

There are plenty of seating areas, and although the lounge was busy, it still had plenty of free chairs.

There are two showers in the mens bathroom and the facilities were clean.

The food was varied, with local, Asian and Western options. I tried some of the local offerings butter chicken, chili poppadoms and vegetable biryani. They were excellent.

I was called for the spa treatment Id booked and asked if I wanted a foot massage. I didnt ask about other options, but the lady sitting next to me was getting a back massage.

Im glad I took them up on the massage. The treatment was fantastic, using oils and reflexology techniques, and I even got a little pot of ayurvedic balm as a gift on my way out. The spa is actually a weird little box of a room with two chairs, but it really did the trick.

Overall the lounge was a great experience, even if it was a little rough around the edges. The quality of the food, the charming staff and the fun treatment carried the day.

It was a five-minute stroll down to Gate 12 where the A330-300 was waiting. Full security is carried out at each gate, and there wasnt much time to wait as I was one of the last to reach the waiting area. Boarding began around 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time of 12.50 p.m. A separate channel for business class led to door 1L first on the left and straight into the biz cabin.

SriLankan is among the airlines that give their airplanes names; the Airbus taking us to London was a four-year-old jet named City of Senkadagalapura, a UNESCO World Heritage Site also known as the Sacred City of Kandy

Flight attendants, decked out in blue saris with a peacock-feather motif, welcomed me and pointed me to my seat.

The business cabin of SriLankans A330-300s is arranged in seven rows of four seats in a 1-2-1 reverse-herringbone configuration. The center pair of seats are angled into each other and are better for a couple, but you have to lean forward to see each other.

This is a much better business-class product than on SriLankans smaller A330-200s, which have three rows of seats in 2-2-2 configuration, meaning not everybody has direct aisle access.

On the A330-300s, seats are upholstered in a teal-colored leather with a grey/beige headrest, which I thought I would hate after researching the cabin ahead of the flight. However, the seat actually looks quite smart; the photos I had seen made it look cheaper than it did in real life.

Mine was 3K, a right-hand window seat.

There is ample leg room, with a seat pitch of 78 inches. The seat is comfortable with plenty of padding.

At shoulder level, there is a reading light, IFE control panel, USB and universal power outlet, plus a seat-control panel.

The tray table extends from the console at the side of the seat and swings out in a folded position. It can then be folded out to double in size. Its not huge, but comfortably fits a 15-inch Macbook.

The area above where the table folds away is the only significant flat surface, and there are two other small storage areas one underneath this console and one by the footwell for storing magazines. There is also an armrest that must remain stowed for taxi, takeoff and landing.

The seat extends into a fully flat position for sleeping. When you lie down, your feet tuck into the footwell underneath the seat in front. No mattress pad is provided.

There are two toilets at the front of the cabin for the sole use of business-class passengers. They are run-of-the-mill bathrooms but with hand wash, hand cream and mouthwash.

A soft and good-quality pillow was on my seat when I arrived. Shortly after sitting down, the crew handed out a blanket, which was thin but very soft and felt high-quality.

They also handed out an Aigner-branded amenity kit containing toothbrush and toothpaste, lip balm, moisturizer, tissues, a hairbrush, hand sanitizer and earplugs.

A separate pack of SriLankan-branded socks and a good-quality eye mask were left at the seat.

Headphones were hanging on a small hook on the seat. They carried the SriLankan logo and seemed a bit beaten up but they worked OK, although they were not noise-cancelling, which has become a business-class benchmark.

Wi-Fi was available on board but it kept dropping out during the flight and cost a hefty $40 for full-flight coverage, with a usage cap of only 400MB. The performance of the Wi-Fi was so bad that every attempt I made to test the speed failed.

The IFE screen was a good size at 15.4 and operated by touchscreen or by the handheld control device. There were over 50 TV shows, 120 movies, audio shows, a moving map and front- and downward-facing live cameras.

Shortly after reaching my seat, I was offered pre-departure beverages (orange juice, water and Champagne) and hot towels.

Lunch orders were taken before departure and the lunch service began in earnest just 30 minutes into the flight.

I chose the Arabic mezze starter which included muhammara, tabouleh, dolmade and labneh. It was fresh and delicious, the perfect way to kick off the proceedings.

For the main course, the crew recommended the signature Sri Lankan-style chicken curry which was served with tempered beetroot, bitter gourd mallung, vegetable cutlet, and steamed basmati rice. It was exceptional, with delicious and subtle spices and good accompaniments, save for the bitter gourd mallung which was way too bitter for me (the warning was in the name). I washed this down with an Argentinian Sauvignon Blanc.

After clearing the main, the crew brought a cheese tray, which was still wrapped in cling film and a little sad, but the accompanying fruit plate had fat chunks of pineapple, papaya and watermelon and was juicy and perfect after the curry.

A trolley was then brought though the cabin with brandies and dessert wines, chocolate Sacher torte, and tea and coffee served out of beautiful silver jugs.

It didnt stop there the meal closed with a choice of sweet treats.

The menu stated that dine-on-demand was possible, although it looked like most everyone in the cabin took their food immediately because of the time of departure, but it was handy to know about the other option on a flight of almost 12 hours.

For the second meal, I chose the vegetable kottu roti, a spicy shredded roti dish with dal, which was tasty if heavy. The fresh fruit it came with was a good antidote to that heaviness.

The service ended up being a letdown. It was efficient on the whole, despite regular bursts of turbulence during the flight, and the crew showed flashes of warmth and excellence which made the overall service level harder to swallow.

The crew seemed distant at times, yet somewhere over the Persian Gulf half the crew burst out of the galley, wielding a guitar, to sing (quite beautifully, including harmonies) five Christmas carols. It was five days before Christmas, after all.

The good vibes came and went, though. Sometimes the crew were happy and friendly, and at other times I felt like I was a huge inconvenience, mainly on the few occasions I was just asking for water top-ups. Watching interactions with other passengers, it felt like crew members were going through the motions with fake smiles.

When I asked around seven hours into the flight if I could have a snack (it had been five-odd hours since Id last eaten), a flight attendant barked that the next meal would be served in the next hour. This was at odds with the dine on demand stated in the menu, but all I was really after was a few nuts or something. I went back to my seat to wait for the meal, which came about 30 minutes later.

An hour before landing, I asked if there was anything sweet on board, maybe some chocolate. The response from the flight attendant was, No, I gave everything to the other passengers, and she turned to walk off. When I pushed and asked if there really was nothing at all, she rolled her eyes and said, Yes, I can get you a biscuit. Im not sure why it needed to be so difficult.

It was just so confusing to have such rudeness alongside what was often very good service, especially at mealtimes.

Overall Impression

SriLankan can often be overlooked because of its bigger Oneworld partners with far larger route networks, but its relatively new and modern A330-300s have a competitive business-class product with some real warmth and charm. Just be sure to choose the 300 model over the smaller A330-200 with the older business class.

It is the service that was inconsistent here, but had that been better, I would have felt very positively about the experience.

I cant imagine Colombo is the most efficient place to transit though, so I would probably choose the big hubs of the Middle East to make connections unless the timing of flights really worked out. But as a way to get to and from Sri Lanka, I would be willing to give SriLankan another go and pray for a happier experience in what is otherwise a good seat with great food.

None. Vanderwood is pretty smart, so school was a breeze for him. There was so much shit going on back home all the time, he didn’t really consider it. I feel like he would be into Literature though..because he likes to read, it gets his mind off a lot. ^^

I mean, he’s a secret agent. If he can dodge bullets, he should know how to swim. I like to think there was a mission where he and Seven had to infiltrate a yacht, then once they got the information they needed, they rigged the whole thing with explosives and they jumped out into the ocean at the last second. Like bad asses. 

D: How they react to being flirted with?

If it was their child, super protective, super naggy. Would read them a story every night and tuck them in. Always made sure they were fed and happy. F: What’s one thing they’re really bad at?

Dancing. He is terrible at dancing. please don’t make him dance lmao, he will cry.

I give him a solid 2. I mean, he doesn’t like himself, but hey, he knows he’s better than Seven.

They’re pretty frugal with it. He has a budget, despite how much they make.

It depends on who or the situation. He has used up most of his patience with Seven, so…

Uhmm, they would be about the average size for male hands lol. His fingernails would be nicely cut and his hands would be super clean!! He wears gloves for a reason, lol.

They’re one of the best agents at his agency. He’s as stealthy as can be!

He’s not that ticklish tbh. Although, I feel like if you tickled him at his sides a bit, he would let out a groan before shooing you away; cause maybe he’s just a bit sensitive there, hehe.

Smooth like jazz. It’s nice, deep, clean and modulated. He honestly has such a nice voice, can lowkey sing a bit too! While he’s cleaning or cooking though. He can have the most monotone sound ever though if you happen to annoy him or he’s just being sarcastic.

Being messy or being loud. Poking them repeatedly or having bad manners, like smacking your food or burping.

Vandy is a pretty light sleeper. It’s just natural instinct for him to always be alert tbh. He sleeps without a shirt on (*cue nose bleed*) and just their boxers..he lies on his back, one arm above him, the other resting on his stomach, his head turned to the side slightly and the covers only pulled up to about his waist. Sometimes throughout the night he may turn onto his side. He doesn’t snore much. A pretty quiet sleeper tbh, looks like an angel when he sleeps.

So this is probably really odd to ask but whatever. I got accepted into an art school and i've been going there since 4 weeks. So far so good. But i get really bad anxiety if i am not able to do somethig right/ as good as anyone else :/ of course im jealous if someone is better than me but i thik i could handle that (if it'd JUST that) i have anxiety abt almost anything and it really depresses me when i feel like im not good in enough in sth i normally love doning :( So.. do you have any advice?

Yes I do. Stop listening to the BS that comes from the part of your genes that keeps you rather in ‘shitty but safe’ stagnation than let you fail. (They are mean and don’t consider winning!)

In short, don’t stress too much on it, things will be just fine as long as you keep going! A bit longer below the cut.

My art school career started with “I was the second to last accepted” to high school. I knew that I could draw ‘better’ than the other kids in my elementary school class simply because I had an interest and I was drawing almost every day, but it still put me on the end of the scale in an open competition. When I got in I felt like I hit the jackpot and I will be surrounded with similar minded folks and how awesome it will be. The truth is, I had a couple of friends and the others I can’t even remember the name of but things were great. Until you start to struggle for whatever reason, it’s more often than not that you’ll get a mean comment on ‘how bad x is on your drawing’. And from those friends, that hurt. It’s not the constructive criticism kind of deal, but the one that is aimed to break down your self confidence and faith in yourself in order to make themselves feel better. After a while I figured that I’m not interested in their opinion, so I politely asked them not to give me feedback, since I’m my worst critic. I knew that some of them were in my level or above, but that just put me into a competitive mindset that I can do better. And so I did. Talent is nothing but hard work. When you think that other people’s work is intimidating, then you are getting a mental block via your genes that I have described above. But if you keep trying, you can get to awesomeness! 

After high school (all of those above) I went to an other art based institute to become a teacher whom is able to instruct and communicate trough their thoughts due to the fact that our teacher was an artist who was an egotistic asshole, forcing his shit on people without letting you develop. I thought that in the university it will be different, but guess what, all the people there were the same kind of deal. I feel like I learned nothing aside of the teaching part. They assigned me to do things I was not interested in at all and trying to crush my beliefs that “digital art is no true art and has no value”. We got homework which you could interpret as you liked, and let me tell you, they did freak me out. I’m not saying that you don’t need to do things you don’t like, but the amount is very questionable and opinionated. I hated drawing. It was a forced thing and I saw that the output I was doing was crap because I couldn’t even motivate myself to care. It was still good enough to keep a B+ average, and where I felt like I’m not learning, I stopped trying to challenge myself to try being better. I usually had at least one figure whom I wanted to impress, and I put all my creative efforts into that particular class. The rest I kinda “survived”.

And, let me tell you a story related specifically to your problem. I had a class where we had to “solve painter’s problems”. Whatever the fuck that meant. We had to paint a figure and environment in the mandatory classes which was utterly boring (same 60yo lady over the 5 years I had there). Same pose, same lights, I could paint it from my memory from various angles. it was some new level of boring. But we had this “solve a painter’s problem” deal and I had no fucking idea what did the teacher meant and the explanations made NO SENSE to me or my friend. The others started bringing in sketches and loose works to ask the teacher’s opinion, and they were so far away from anything I’d call art that I started freaking out. I can’t do this shit. I can’t purposely, by force, paint metaphysical images by the number of 30 mini (A6), 15 small (A4) 10 medium (A3) and 4 large (A2) by the end of the semester. I had two weeks left, and I had NO IDEA what the hell to do. I was very frustrated, I wanted to quit, I wanted to fuck it all, because everyone else’s modern junk was looking so abstract and I CANNOT do that! I was sitting over the canvas and out of sheer frustration I started hammering it with random colors I had on my brush (it was rather small, like the back of a pencil), and I was crying and I was ready to give up. And from beyond my tears, the images looked kind of…Interesting. So I blew my nose and I kept doing this, first trying to make a shape or a form and afterwards not even giving a damn. I just had to make something and fuck me if it’s not going to be good enough. I tried my best. If it’s not enough, it’s just ONE person’s opinion anyway from 6 billion so WHY should I CARE. (Yes, even if they are professionals or teachers or whatever)So I bring in the images and I’m so nervous I nearly pass out. Long story short the teacher nearly passed out too, but from euphoria, how amazing my shit was. He was legit pissed that my works from the class were medicore but THOSE WERE SO GOOD IT WAS PREPOSTEROUS. I got an A, and my friend who watched from the door nearly pissed herself from trying not to laugh. (she also asked me to bring some to an other class to an other teacher and that guy also got his mind blown).

Now some can say that I had to get to a mindset that made me do this (and we should listen to the advices blaady bladyy blaaa). But frankly, I don’t want to be stressed about creating art, I want to enjoy it. People don’t like it? Why should I care as long as I’m having fun and developing to my liking? Art supposed to be self expression, not forced upon anyone by any means. When I make commissions, I’m trying to please ONE person, and that’s the commissioner. If anyone else is happy too, that’s a bonus. My best art pieces were gifts, because I wanted to give with them, and they were driven by love/joy/unicorn fart rather than pressure. Love makes everything better!

You’ll never be able to please everyone. It’s impossible. Start with believing in yourself and look for the themes/materials that MAKE YOU HAPPY. That make you grow and leaves you feeling productive. If it’s drawing, painting, writing, making music, cooking food, sewing, fixing up shit, BRINGING OUT THE TRASH, whatever floats your boat. Aim for the little things that make you happy. There is no point to compare yourself to others, and trust me when I say this, the more your skill grows the less intimidating they will be, because you’ll have the eyes to see the flaws that everyone does. The images we like the most are made with little accidents. If you feel like crap about your art, listen some Bob Ross and follow his work. Surround yourself with the material that makes you feel good, or things you want to aim for. If you have a particular picture you think it’s just the best shit, put it to your desktop til you find something that is even more awesome. Your eyes will remember the details that you can recall any time. Out of your comfort zone? DO NOT TAKE IT TOO SERIOUS. I mean it’s obviously gonna be crap in the first dozen times. But You’ll get there, just keep going, and don’t give up! Be your own worst critiq and don’t let anyone make you feel bad about your work. You have to accept the fact that you won’t make a masterpiece with every single stroke you make, and that’s fine. Aim for perfection, but don’t be a perfectionist.

My personal mantra is: “I cannot please everyone with my work, but I do my best anyway, and my aim is personal growth trough things that make me happy.”I’m honestly very honored that you people think my opinion is worth asking for. The fun fact is that my most common advice is “don’t give a shit about other people’s opinion”. :’D No, ofc you should care a bit, but only just an itty bitty tiiny wiiny bit. As long as you stay happy!

Another stoppage-time goal for Wolves meant that they earned a late point against Newcastle on Monday evening. This was the fifth time this season that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have scored after the 90 minute mark this season, a league high.

On previous occasions, some goals have mattered, others not so much. Most recently, the winner in the 4-3 game against Leicester obviously mattered. The second against Bournemouth in December was less crucial, although it did kill the game completely.

Of the other two, one also came against Newcastle earlier in the campaign as Matt Doherty got the winner at St James’ Park. Last but by no means least was Adama Traore’s goal against West Ham at the London Stadium which gave the Black Country side all three points.

As we touched on in the preview, Wolves have struggled against Premier League sides in the lower echelons of the table. With time running out on Monday, it looked set to be much of the same. In this tactical analysis, we are going to compare Wolves’ performance against Newcastle to that when they faced Huddersfield and Crystal Palace. On paper, Wolves should have picked up nine points from those three games. In reality, they only picked up one.

There were no surprises from either Nuno or Rafa Benitez when it came to personnel. Positionally, the only real shock from the Newcastle manager was the Isaac Hayden was deployed slightly further forward than usual which meant that at times, Sean Longstaff acted as a single pivot in front of the back three.

Despite the similarity in formation, the average positions of the home and away side couldn’t be starker as you can see below.

Furthermore, Wolves completed almost 200 more passes than Newcastle. However, it was the away side who took the lead.

For all of the plaudits that Boly got for scoring the late equaliser, there is no question that he was at fault for Hayden’s goal. Before I go into detail with it all, you need to have a look at the below image taken just before Fabian Schar slides the ball through.

Boly’s flat-footedness gifts Hayden half a yard.

Moutinho can’t get to the ball quickly enough. All the same, it shouldn’t be a situation that raises too many issues as Boly is relatively close to the eventual goalscorer. Even though Boly is practically within touching distance, his body shape lets him down as instead of being side on and ready to go, he’s facing the ball which means he needs to turn to chase Hayden.

As the late, great Brian Clough once said: “It only takes a second to score a goal.” That’s precisely what happened. Coady’s path follows the white line as he presumes Boly has got Hayden’s run covered, but he doesn’t. If he had followed the red one, he would’ve stopped Hayden dead in his tracks. Fine margins, indeed.

Considering all of the above – Boly’s body shape, Coady thinking he has it covered etc – none of that should’ve really mattered. Rui Patricio, in the Wolves goal, has to be doing better. He thinks that Hayden’s going to shoot across him, but the Newcastle man goes for the near post and Rui effectively ends up pushing it into his own net.

Boly’s redemption

Deep in stoppage time, Boly rose highest to head home Adama Traore’s cross. Martin Dubravka completely misjudged the flight of the ball as Boly headed it into the empty net. In some quarters, there were questions of a foul on the Newcastle keeper, but it was just a case of Dubravka getting it wrong, Boly getting it right and the spoils being shared. Nuno’s side should’ve put the game to bed long before that moment, before Hayden even put Newcastle into the lead.

Wolves’ third biggest ‘win’ of the season

Wolves’ domination in the game is emphasised by the xG scoreline: Wolves 2.41-0.44 Newcastle. Or, an xGD (expected goal difference) of 1.87 in Wolves’ favour. The only two xG results which eclipse that are when Wolves hosted Sean Dyche’s Burnley and Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham respectively.

From the Burnley match, Wolves ended with an xGD of 3.18 (the final score was only 1-0 in Wolves’ favour). Against the Hammers, the xGD was only marginally better than that of the Newcastle game at 1.89. The timing chart from the Newcastle game can be seen below.

As is evidenced above, Wolves were always ahead of Newcastle on the xG front, apart from the first 16 minutes or so. To illustrate this even better, let’s take a look at the respective shot maps.

Wolves had 22 shots compared to Newcastle’s nine, and double the number on target, but a combination of wastefulness and Dubravka playing well up until Boly’s equaliser kept Wolves at bay. How does this compare to the aforementioned games when Wolves faced Crystal Palace and Huddersfield at Molineux?

Steps in the right direction

When Crystal Palace visited the Black Country on 2 January, they came away with a 2-0 win courtesy of two goals in the last 10 minutes of the game. It was thoroughly deserved as the xG scoreline from that day was 0.66-1.88. No complaints can be had from that game.

When David Wagner brought his Huddersfield side to the Midlands, few people gave the Terriers a chance of getting a positive result. Just like Crystal Palace, they won 2-0. The xG scoreline? 0.70-0.63. While the final score might be unfair when you take xG into account, there’s one common denominator from the Palace and Huddersfield game that can’t be ignored. Wolves’ xG from both of those games is under 0.75.

So, with the 3-5-2 formation in place for the first time against a supposedly lesser team, Wolves created more than three times the number of chances. If that’s not progression, I’m not sure what is.

Conclusion

Before the game, Benitez’ side would’ve been much happier with the final score. After the game, Nuno would’ve no doubt been the cheerier of the two coaches. Wolves remain seventh, while Newcastle leapfrog Cardiff to 16th.
