I want to not watermark my art so heavily and to not have to worry about the possibility of character or art theft. I want to post messy sketches and personal art with interesting palettes and compositions that I put real passion into instead of keeping it locked behind a patreon membership as an extra incentive to support me. I wanna do all my art for the self expression and the fun of the process instead of money to buy groceries and pay rent and survive. I want to share that personal experience in a personal journal of an account without worrying about an audience or engagement or reeling in my next commission. I want to have a place to put the art that I really deeply care about and curate a space that's a love letter to art and creating.

i totally understand the preference for the sound of concatenative vocal synths vs deep learning based ones (dl i find is often a lot weaker than concatenative, even in voicebanks meant for powerful singing. although they can also be more tonally expressive in ways concatenative struggles with. but of course sometimes you just want the metallic sound which is easier to get concatenatively compared to dl's more autotune-y noise) BUT i do often see people say its because theyre worried about more same-y sounding tuning from the auto pitch creation functions which i get but also it does make me giggle a little because have you forgotten the endless plug-and-play war going on from the past 20 years. have you forgotten the millions of untuned covers uploaded every day since the dawn of vocal synthesis. have you forgotten the autopitchwriter debate. the more things change the more things stay the same <3

in general i think online art spaces suffer from a culture of, I guess, exceptionalism and favouritism when it comes to artists above all other careers or professions. to use the flight rising example again, saying "we can't implement this core site mechanic because it means a lot of work for the artists" gets a shit ton of sympathy points among the userbase but imagine that applied to other jobs lol imagine if my manager was like "aw we can't make our lab workers adhere to these strict SOPs because it's just so difficult and means a lot of work" It's Their Job

One of the annoying things about being good at a physical hobby that doesn't create anything in the modern day is that if you want anyone to care about it enough to share with them, you also basically have to be a hobbyist in video editing, have a good camera, look conventionally attractive, and a location that doubles as a studio. You're a showcase for content first and a person with a hobby second.

it's kind of sad getting back onto DeviantArt and seeing the flood of "AI Artists". When I used to frequent the site back in 2014? 2015? you'd see all levels of quality and experience on your feed, and you could tell that the majority of artists put time and effort and heart into everything they posted

Now, it's just muddled with ai. And don't get me wrong, the robots can churn out some cool stuff, but it's kinda frustrating, especially when you know some bot-wranglers don't tag it as AI, and you don't know what's a work of actual effort, and what's just an amalgamation of stolen art blended together by a prompt

I get rly jealous of painters (digital and otherwise but mostly digital) sometimes bc they have the skill and knowledge to be able to do style studies of famous painters, and I frequently have the urge to do some kind of leyendecker study but I patently CANNOT paint, at all, I don't even rly render I am a flat colors and cel shading kind of artist so it would just be kind of useless to attempt bc the style I make art in just isn't the kind that I can do those kinds of experiments in and it feels Bad
