it's actually, genuinely, honestly hilarious that in a fandom where popular ships include characters who are biologically related, characters with a 10+ year age gap who met when one was a teenager or even a child, and characters who have tried to kill each other, people hate on a friends-to-lovers ship with a <2 year age gap where the characters have a deep emotional bond and plenty of romantic subtext, because "they're siblings". my brother in the force they are literally not.

i could have haters stone me in the streets for this but some of the new spock/tos crew show content is good and im tired of people dismissing it as bad when they never engaged with it genuinely.

Prefacing this by saying I'm a gentile and would be interest in hearing Jewish fans' thoughts on this

I was thinking about that moment in Spiderverse where Peter gets married and I was wondering why more adapted versions of Magneto don't reference him being Jewish in multiple ways and not SOLELY on his trauma as a Holocaust victim. It's a core part of his character but it's also the only time him being Jewish is ever referenced in these adaptations, and I'm wondering if the writers of these versions of him just don't feel like bringing up that he's Jewish in any other way aside from his internment in the Holocaust.

#im not saying he has to constantly be doing stereotypical Jewish things but #ok imagine if Storm being Kenyan was only ever referenced in one specific way and nowhere else #i feel like if you can cut a single scene out and suddenly theres no indication that Erik is Jewish #or if you covered up his number tattoo and theres no other way that the audience can infer hes Jewish #then maybe you should include it in multiple ways #like in the comics even if you for whatever reason never saw a panel of Kitty with her star of david necklace #she still talks about celebrating Passover and Hanukkah with her folks and shes still portrayed as Jewish in multiple ways #a lot of Magneto adaptations either dont bring it up at all or they only bring it up when showing his past #again im not jewish but its just a stray thought i had. if im out of line feel free to hmu in dms or something
