I watched Sonic 3 last week now Ian’s holy shit. It was truly the best fucking thing I’ve ever seen holy shit. There’s so much I want to say about it and just saying it was so good isn’t enough IT WAS PERFECT SO PERFECT I LOVED IT WAHHHNHHHH. I had to share my thoughts on it so here there are!

Anyways I am gonna just ramble out everything I need for this because the brainrot is so real AND I NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS SHSHHSEHHSSN

- i actually cried quite a lot actually so many moments just tug my heart especially the flashback moments with Maria and shadow man their story is so tragic they deserved so much better 😭 I kept jumping and giggling in my seat and just tried to keep my composure over certain moments ESPECIALLY WHEN LIVE AND LEARN PLAYED I HAD TO KEEP MYSELF FROM SINGING ALONG HWBWHDHDEHHWHJWJSJ.

- God the way the movie opened, where Shadows beginning to wake up and he’s seeing memories of Maria already like okay straight away to the pain and angst I see

- ALSO THEY COULDNT HAVE WRITTEN MARIA AND SHADOW MORE PERFECT I actually loved their relationship and dynamic in this sm they were so adorable and the memories of them spending time and being like family just tug my heart 😭

- also the first section of the movie when sonic and shadow had their first fight was amazing. Sonic asking about who did his highlights when chasing after shadow made me giggle for sm reason lol

- They’ve changed up Shadows backstory a little, not having him be man-made but instead coming from a meteorite and like a straight up alien. they’ve also written out Maria’s sickness which tbh im not entirely sure how I feel about that? Like tbh it’s not something like the worst change ever but it does make me wonder why they changed it especially since it’s a core part of her character in the main universe but tbh this is still a completely separate universe so really in the end it’s not the worst change and not something that completely ruins the experience. (It just made me curious really) but yeah everything else with Shadows backstory is absolutely amazing and I loved it!!

- ALSO SONIC CRASHING OUT AFTER SHADOW HURT TOM OH MY FUCKING GOD THATS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED AHHHHHHHHHHHH

- and the scene when Sonic runs over to Tom to see if he is okay and calling to him in desperation as shadow just watches seeing exactly himself in Sonic atm as he had lost Maria eughhhshshshshsh

- Gerald. Just Gerald. Like holy shit his character was so interesting here because in the main canon universe he is already a very complex character but here holy shit I really didn’t expect them to go with a very huge darker twist with it. Cause in the main universe he dedicated everything about his research towards Maria and curing her of her illness that he even went into lengths of accepting some alien warlord to help him make the ultimate life form knowing the consequences that could come with that. And here he used his grandson Ivo and shadow to accomplish his plans of destroying everything even themselves. You can tell here he really had lost it with the death of Maria but here he no longer even cared about Maria’s wishes and rather what he wanted to avenge her and it’s a even darker side of his character. The fact he used his grandson to get what he wanted like- hacking into his creations to lure him in and try to play the role of grandfather to only want to use his genius brain and the fact he never had anybody as a way to help him achieve in destroying the world. Like wow. Just wow.

- Keanu absolutely did a fantastic job as shadow. I CANNOT wait to see more of what he does with the character

- Revenge guac shouldn’t have made me laugh as much as it did LMAOOO

- Knuckles and Tails were wonderful in this movie they really feel like friends/brothers and the way the three of them really cared for each other was so sweet.

- Tom and Maddie were also amazing and I loved their parts in this movie sm. the fact they were WAITING for sonic and co to come back with a world disaster to deal with because they were bored 😭 they are so used to these wacky adventures it’s become such a norm for them that’s honestly so sweet 🥹

- The way Sonic and Knuckles were gearing up to fight each other with Tails being right in the middle before Knuckles decides to let Sonic know where the master emerald is was done so perfectly, that scene had me on the fucking edge of my seat

- I was also worried that they would do a third act break up with team sonic cuz I’m not usually a fan of that trope but they executed it PERFECTLY oh my god

- and at the end Sonic’s apology to them when he knew he was in the wrong and let his anger and vengeance get to him and knuckles going for a fist bump and Sonic just hugging him??? Oh my sweet boys oh how I miss them already they were the perfect team in this movie I can’t wait to see more team sonic again 😭🥹💙💙

- also I loved Sonic’s development??? I just love how every movie he’s growing more and more as a character I just love that sm

- God I wish we had more scenes with Maria and Shadow I’m just not over their interactions they deserved sm better 😭

- also I love tails’s role in this movie!! Dude was really the MVP fr and I tried not to laugh when tails washed away stone and shadow in the giant robot crap like dude casually caused violence and I love that for him lol

- Stobotnik was perfect in this film I literally started to sob when eggman told him off because stone realized something off about Gerald. And when that heart felt goodbye to stone played it was so wonderful and heartbreaking I was sobbing atp. if this is Jim’s last film then that’s okay he went out with a BANG (literally)

- ALSO WHEN LIVE AND LEARN STARTED TO PLAY???? AND SHADOW AND SONIC DID THE DAB UP THEY DO IN SA2 I HAD TO TRY AND COMPOSE MYSELF BECAUSE I WAS JUMPING IN MY SEAT I was pointing at the screen and saying “they did the thing they did the thing!”

- Also when Gerald made that misogynistic comment about women being in the military me and my friend (who went with me to watch it) just looked at each other because WHAT 😭

- I loved how the eclipse canon lookd a lot like the space colony ARK I love the reference to it sm

- I almost screamed in my seat when metal sonic showed up at the end AND NOT ONLY THAT BUT AMY?????? OHNMY GOD IM SO HAPPY AHHSHSHHSSHJ I’m still not over it

- now I want villain stone for the fourth movie like PLEASE ITS SET UP SO WELL HERE. Stone losing robotnik definitely would play a huge reason for his villain arc plus someone had to make metal sonic.

- ALSO I LOVED THE PARALLEL TO SONIC ADVENTURE 2????? WHERE INSTEAD OF SHADOW TURNING BACK TO HIS MAIN FORM AND SONIC KEEP GOING IT WAS THE OTHER WAY AROUND SHSHSDBEHSHWHSHSJ

- That entire scene when Sonic and Shadow were fighting in their super forms WAS LITERALLY SO INSANE MY JAW DROPPED WHEN SONIC MANAGED TO TURN BACK BUT LOOKED UP TO ALSO SEE THAT SHADOW HAD TRANSFORMED

- Also I just loved how Eggman randomly announced he’s Bi/pan it was truly beautiful

- AND ALSO SHADOW IS STILL ALIVE YEAHHHHH. I mean I did see it coming as he literally survives the end of SA2 (even though he originally actually wasn’t fun fact) but also the fact there is a confirmation on him getting a spin off it was pretty obvious lol but STILL especially since his “sacrifice” scene really hit hard. I really hope in his spin off we get to see rouge and maybe even learn more where he came from…especially from a certain alien warlord 😙

ANYWAYS honestly this movie is now the best movie out of the three. It was just an amazing experience and I loved every single moment of it, it was an amazing adaptation to SA2 for sure and I’m honestly still not over it at all, this movie was quite the experience and I definitely recommend it sm it’s an amazing movie and I can certainly say it made the inner child inside my heart very happy.

(before you read this, please know that nothing i said in response should be taken as me being upset with OP because i am not at all upset with this ask)

i’ll answer the bottom part in my video, but i want to address the top question because i received it more than once.

I am still a feeder. I am still a FFA. I’m a part-time feedee and FULL-TIME feeder.

I am not saying that i’m not a feedee because, I mean, cmon look at my page lol. but i am still a feeder first and foremost. that will never change. i decided to get into testing out the feedee role because i didn’t have anyone irl who i knew that was into feedism or even willing to try it. my last partner made me think he was into it for a bit, but then did a huge 180. it wasn’t until one of my close ‘friends’ (😏) and i started flirting a bit that i realized he was actually into the idea and it brought me back into feeder mode. just because i am dipping my toe into the feedee realm does not mean that i am not a feeder first, so please stop taking that title from me.

i know i have a lot to prove. between my dad’s health rapidly declining which led to my disney arc being cancelled and also my constant switch between feedee and feeder content, i know i’ve disappointed quite a few people recently. for that, i am sorry, but i also don’t regret spending that time with my ill father instead of making feedism content at disneyland ngl. i know a lot of people were pissed (i can tell by how many subs i lost) and i do feel bad and sincerely apologize, but life gets in the way of work at times and i needed to prioritize life in that moment. as for my indecision between being a feedee and a feeder, ive realized that im much more into the feeder role. i love eating and doing it for you all to enjoy which is why im not rejecting the feedee position and am still leaning into it, but i get much more pleasure from being a feeder. i’m much more into the dominance and control that i get as a feeder. however, i do like the plushness on my body that i obtained from being a feedee. i say this all to make the point that i still play both roles, but Feeder will always be my main role. it comes to me naturally and sometimes i have to force myself to be a feedee which can kinda ruin it over time.

also please keep in mind that i’m 21, so i’m still at an age where i flip flop between my sexual identity so so so frequently. I like being a feedee at times, but i always have and always will LOVE being a feeder. now that i have the december trip planned and have someone willing to let me feed them that i also happen to know really really well, im excited to get back into my feeder mode. i will probably switch between the two for a while, and i’m sorry if that annoys any of you.

also, just because i mainly feel like a feeder does not mean i am planning to get ripped or skinny again or any of that. i’m just not focused on gaining right now and haven’t had the appetite or $$ to do stuffings. i am not trying to lose weight; it is just happening naturally due to life circumstances. please stop messaging me accusing me of being a fake feedist or saying that im ‘intentionally getting skinny again’ because that is not true. i don’t care what my size is tbh, im comfortable in my body, i just have other priorities right now and a lack of appetite.

I just got through the Earthlings arc during my SU rewatch and im absolutely facinated by Jaspers character

She’s such an effective antagonist for so long because she clashes with every other character so fundamentally. She’s got this completely foreign to the show worldview that is shown to be contrary to what the rest of the show is trying to say but she still feels like a real person and when you think about her she’s just as much a product of her circumstances as anyone else. She doesn’t want to talk it out with Steven because why would she? She was literally born to fight as has been doing so since the second she was born, it’s all she’s ever known and has been drilled into her head that that’s what’s expected of her, she’s rewarded for fighting well and watches as others are punished for doing badly, either by losing or by facing consequences for failing.

And then there’s the whole “perfect solider” part of her character. She was literally born more capable and with a higher status than everyone else. But because of the way home world is structured to reward her and punish people like the off-colours, she’s been indoctrinated into thinking that the reason she came out on top had nothing to do with how she was made and everything to do with her behaviour and attitude. Peak “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” type person but because it’s a fictional story you can see what happened to make her this way. Her and amethyst are fundamentally different, they’re different quartzes, they were born in different places, they were just created differently, from the start jasper was always going to be better at some things than amethyst and amethyst would be better at others than jasper. But because of the way jasper has been “raised” for lack of a better word she doesn’t see that, she doesn’t understand that her and amethyst are simply different gems who were made different, she’s better at fighting and is picture image of what a quartz “should” be so that means it’s possible and anyone who can’t live up to that standard simply isn’t trying hard enough. And she even manages to get that into amethysts head, if jasper is capable of this then that means that amethyst must be too, even tho that’s simply not true. Through no fault of her own amethyst would have to try infinitely harder to achieve even close to where jasper is, jasper started out with a huge head start and trying to play catch up does nothing but hurt amethyst. It’s such a good analogy for so many things I think

Her main role in the story is serving as a character who simply refuses to talk it out with Steven, but again, why would she? From her perspective the entire reason her life is like this, she reason shes spent her life fighting endlessly, all the suffering shes lives through, its his fault. Rose Quartz started the war she was quite literally born to fight in. Rose Quartz also ended that same war by killing the only person jasper ever had to look up to, forced her out of the only reason she had for existing (both as in to fight the war and to serve Pink Diamond). And then heres Rose Quartz once again, saying she wants to help her? Where was she offering help when jasper when she was living to fight as much as she was fighting to live? Where was this „help“ when she shattered Pink Diamond and Jaspers entire world with her? „Help“? Help my ass shes the reason everything thats gone wrong in jaspers life went wrong in the first place

And then she gets poofed at her lowest point, gets removed from the story entirely until Future, and Future does nothing to make anything better for her! Last jasper knew the person shes been seeking revenge on her entire existence cant even be bothered to remember what she did, and then she loses herself to the Earth and corruption, the very things she prided herself on being better than.

And then suddenly shes brought back and „hey guess what! That war we created you to fight in? The one you created your entire person around? The one you lost Everything in? Yeah so it was pointless. Actually the person you idolised for the past 6000 years is the same person who you thought killed her and have been seeking vengeance on for the same amount of time. Crazy how that happens. Anyways so do you wanna come hang out with us now that we sorted that out and were chill about it?“

Can you even IMAGINE what that feels like? No wonder she runs off into the woods and becomes a hermit what else is she supposed to do! Shes got nowhere to go! Her entire life has been turned on its head and she’s expected to just move on! That’s ridiculous!

And thats just the backdrop for her appearance in Future. When she finally does appear they kill her and thats the first and only time we ever see her happy. Someone Finally speaks to her in a way she can understand and she actually dies, and uses that to find herself a purpose. If steven is powerful enough to shatter her, a feat never before seen by a gem, then sure she can serve him, anything to give her life purpose again. and then they just forget about her! Steven literally ditched her in his house! They pull the rug out from under her Once Again. but now she can be „normal“ now she can do what other people want her to do so they all assume shes „better“ now.

I think future did her so dirty the original show handles her character So Well and im not really sure how else they could have gone further with her character because people like Jasper in real life dont really change. And if she were to change and agree with steven it would feel like the show saying steven was right and jasper was wrong and she should have listened to him from the start. Shes such an interesting character to delve into because shes the antagonist yes but shes a very specific type or antagonist that doesnt appear very often and when it does its not with as much backstory, even if just implied, or delving into the thoughts behind the actions. Its so interesting to me

while we're talking about ofmd and race, i think there's a really interesting discussion to be had about how colorblind and color-conscious casting happens for historical content -- and the basis for why any of this is happening is that actors of color want to be able to engage with history in a way where they're not continually being asked to play slaves/servants/the singular empowered POC who dies tragically

and while money isnt being put toward stories centered on historical people of color with anywhere near the same frequency as white stories (Woman King was a huge breakaway from this where we actually had african-centered history that made it to white audiences) we're still talking about diasporic actors and writers of color whose families are rooted in the west and who grew up on western history. and on one level there's the instant recognition for these western stories by audiences (and recognition = less financial risk for producers) but on another level, POC want to have the same ability to play around with the historical contexts and stories they grew up seeing. and while people have their gripes with things like bridgerton (no media is without problems) it was a rare instance that let actors of color get to play the high society lords & ladies, have more screen time, and fundamentally get paid more for having a good time, and they're not being asked to engage with generational trauma

and i see ofmd on the other end of the spectrum from this where there was a deliberate choice made not to explain the casting & historical realities of slavery in any narrative sense -- it just is the way it is. so you have your options of 1) create an alternate timeline to explain the presence of POC in these roles and the reality of slavery (bridgerton), 2) dont explicitly explain the casting, dont change the reality of slavery, but weave in the commentary on the actors' races in a meta-textual, self-aware way (hamilton), and dont explain at all, just let things be (ofmd)

and the first two are conducive to drama with elements of comedy, but they're two very different genres from each other and extremely different from the conception of ofmd as a 20-minute-per-episode comedy. so you have a 1700s colorblind comedy that does not engage with the history of slavery -- actors and writers are able to play with the setting without switching genres, and the show is hugely successful

so the key question is: does this all meaningfully change the way that people then engage with the history of that time?

im not really concerned with discussions of "should [media] have been made" because it's here. it already exists. someone wanted to make it and audiences liked it enough to keep it around. im also not really concerned with the personal morality of media consumption, because again, the media exists and people are watching it without you. im asking if there is something like a "bridgerton effect" that distinctly alters people's perceptions of history itself because of the way a historical piece is satirized, modernized, played with, and reworked for modern audiences. and even then we can have another discussion on top of that on whether, if the answer is yes, this is the responsibility of the writers and creators, or of existing educational gaps. i think that's compelling and kind of the only thing that matters in these discussioms imo.

hm. I kinda wish Isen had a different ability

I mean, he’s not a super well developed character (or if he is im just dumb and haven’t been able to parse it LOL) but here’s the idea: what if he and Orrin’s abilities were swapped? same levels for both, so Orrin is still mega powerful level wise (he must be, to command Rein, a possible high tier, with such ease) and Isen as a 4.4-> 4.8.

but I think I’d like it more this way? At least for Isen, him having Dominion (or perhaps Command, at a lower level) would be an interesting contrast to his lack of desire to claim authority. Even swapping his ability with Farrah’s Hypnosis would do, I think, but I do prefer a Dominion variant and I’ll explain why.

His role as the main six’s intelligence and public relations guy is surprisingly relatively brushed under the rug. I mean, without Isen, Remi John and Blyke could not have spread Untitled/Unordinary nearly as efficiently, and Isen is also the one who has consistently looked at the bigger picture of achieving Remi and Blyke’s goals of societal change and managing public opinion. Overall, intelligence gathering and info management is a really important part of UnO, but for some reason Isen is the least powerful least developed and least respected member of the main six.

so giving him a powerful ability like Dominion would make sense, to reinforce the connection between the press/info flow and the capability to control others’ actions. It’d make sense that he refuses to train his ability extensively, because again he doesn’t want to exert authority, which plays into his overall character of a coward and someone who’s very risk averse. (whereas in canon it makes less sense? since his ability is so in sync with his stalker habits, you’d think he’d refine it to get better at stalking).

but his ability still has specific applications that help him manage info flow, since he can project his consciousness into others and see through their eyes. he can also somewhat control what they remember about him doing so. and here’s another reason I want him to have this ability: it means he can actually pull Blyke and remi back from doing stuff. As I imagine it, his ability is less effective but still somewhat so on people higher levelled than him.

It’d make the trio’s friendship feel less bad than it currently does bc at the moment Isen is literally just here trying to keep his two best friends alive and also half trying to convince them out of the main plot. I really believe a huge issue with his character is it feels like he has very little agency, and giving him a control-type ability like Dominion or Hypnosis would allow him to have that extra agency and control over the direction of the vigilante/royal trio. Which he very desperately needs to feel justified as a main character who’s also invested in the main story

Plus, Hunter is a great ability to give to an antagonistic character, since the main six is literally in a constant state of being hunted down. For Orrin in particular, he kinda would’ve been more impressive without such a dominant ability; just the sheer charisma and his people skills.

what happens during the coup and who survives it? im picturing three or more assassins after jango (one from the obi-clones, one from death watch, one from the rebellion, others from other factions) all showing up having picked the same assassination time lol

well, you're not entirely wrong. the coup does involve two assassination attempts happening at the same time--one by the obi-clones and the rebellion, and one by death watch

basically what's going on is that every year on empire day there's a ceremony where someone can challenge the emperor for the right to rule. if the challenger wins, then they get to be the new emperor. obviously, because this ceremony takes place in keldabe, the only people who are available to make this challenge are generally high-ranking mandalorians. anyways, the emperor generally does not lose these fights because the emperor is allowed to use the darksaber which is kind of an unfair advantage. basically this is a public way to defend your legitimacy to rule as well as kill people who disagree with you. jango, for all his faults, is still very good at fighting, so this has worked very well for him despite death watch sending people year after year to try and take the throne from him (because if they assassinate him the normal way, right of succession goes down to cody, and death watch doesn't want the emperor to be a clone)

anyways. the very start of parex begins on empire day right after jango kills his last challenger, duke adonai kryze, a leader in the traditionalist movement that basically hates everything jaster and jango have done. they thought that would work because jango was recovering from getting horribly poisoned during the conquest of zygerria, which led to him needing an organ transplant. obviously didn't work out, jango still killed the shit out of adonai, but obviously killing a major leader in death watch and friends shook things up and they decide that they need a new strategy to get rid of jango and seize power for good

in the meantime (I'll get to the coup in a bit don't worry) jango hates the jedi so much that he has a secret weapon developed: a giant space laser that will be able to wipe their entire settlement off the map. this is why he's hankering so hard to try and find where the jedi are hiding because he needs to send the death laser there to kill them all. as you might expect this death laser plays a pretty major role over the course of the story

well, death watch has a plan to seize control of mandalore: they kidnap cody and steal his armor, then use fox (who's brainwashed all to hell by the empire and then brainwashed again by death watch) to identity theft cody and challenge jango for the throne. death watch has been training fox to fight with a lightsaber, so he won't get unilaterally fucked over by the darksaber. the idea is that if he wins, he takes power as the new emperor and acts as death watch's puppet ruler. if he loses, then death watch uses the death laser that they have seized control over, and blast keldabe off the map.

meanwhile, the obi-clones and friends have a more traditional assassination/coup plan, which is to have cin snipe jango in the face on live television, and then simultaneously kill pretty much everyone in the line of succession as well as all the major leaders in the empire, which will cause a huge power vacuum which hopefully leads to mandalorian factions infighting as they are wont to do, causing their eventual collapse. there's also a bunch of jedi and friends who are going to infiltrate the death laser so that keldabe (and all the people inside it) don't get atomized

well, cin gets interrupted and isn't able to shoot jango in the face, and fox is about to stand up and challenge jango, which is when kote makes the snap decision to step up and make the challenge himself. jango, who was under the impression that kote was in love with him, is obviously completely taken off-guard by this. kote lists out all the reasons jango sucks on live television, and jango's like 'you're not a real mandalorian etc' to which kote is like sure I'm not, and strips all of his armor so he can fight jango with just himself.

anyways, kote kicks jango's ass. kote's been sparring with jango and helping him put on his armor for a year now, so he knows exactly how jango fights and this time he's using the force to help him win. with jango defeated, obi-wan takes over kote's body and destroys the darksaber on live television, then beheads jango with his own lightsaber (which jango has been keeping as a trophy for the last fifteen years) which kicks off the coup

after that is chaos. a whole lot of death watch get murdered by their obi-clones including pre. satine kills bo-katan because she found out that bo-katan killed ben. ventress kills her handler. rex has to fight fox and gets his arm cut off. myles gets boba and obi-wan out of the palace. cody gets backstabbed by his obi-clone (but not killed). a lot of obi-clones die though not our named ones (who are still alive at this point anyways). the end result is that obi-wan finally gets out of jango's torture basement, while mandalore is in complete shambles with the entire line of succession taken out and the darksaber destroyed leading to massive infighting and the collapse of all the empire's main enforcement mechanisms

so basically, obi-wan's plan to make 2000 clone sons to help him destroy the mandalorian empire totally worked :)

I AM SO. WARY. OF THE WARDS. I DONT TRUST THEM. its rlly cool 2 me that they all have powers that i myself would consider like. Bad or Scary. the emotion manipulation thing, the literal warping of time and space etc those are all things that i would be like. this feels overpowered to the point that i almost expect it more from a villain character to build dramatic tension. which. i guess in the meta sense still works bc theyre being set up as antagonists rn but you know what i mean!!!!!

the truth of it all is still up in the air as i work on it honestly, but how accurate this is depends on how active of a role the stars actually play in the story!!! because 1) if we see them in the story as actual real beings, then 1000% this is how it goes. (i will note that the wrath of the stars isnt something that is actively done, more like something that is automatically triggered, so its not that the stars struck her down themselves, but rather they didnt STOP it from happening)

and if thats the case then in this story the gods of the stars are hard to understand and actually rather irrational.....they loved the witch king so much that they refused to strike him down when he almost committed genocide on half the world (even others who were ALSO dedicated to the stars), and then are also too.......im not sure what the right word is... selfish? prideful? to "turn off" the wrath of the stars when ANOTHER follower of theirs is doing what is considered to be right, even in their own eyes. as if its more important that the principles they set are followed and executed than it is for a just and right life to be spared for doing something that needed to be done, but would bend the rules slightly

OR!!!! the OTHER route i was going to take which is a little more haunting to me is that 2) we never really know at the end whether the gods of the stars are real!!! maybe everything anyone in the story knows about them, anytime a character talks about "Well they loved him because he was so dedicated," blah blah blah, is all conjecture based on what they see. all they really know is that when the witch king prayed to the stars for answers, he received magic. and when he was at his most unhinged point, they did not strike him down. and people draw their own conclusions based on that. anything we hear from the stars is through old texts written by witches or oracles who claim they speak for the stars, but we never actually meet them/hear their voices for ourselves. so what theyre actually thinking/why they do the things they do or act the way they act is a mystery.

but if THIS were the case, then all in all the story would be meant to be designed in such a way that "fate" works everything out for good, WITHOUT having to break the rules set by the stars. every person in the story is meant to be there at that time and at that place. every bad thing that happens and every little coincidence is meant to be there. sulluvan becoming the new lord of the undertakers WEEKS before mochi became the cat witch was meant to happen. everything DOES work together such that mochi does not truly die by the end, and ALSO the laws of the stars are not broken. and i honestly like this route a little better because truly in tcwg, the worship of the stars is supposed to be a religion at its root, and i think this echoes how religions really are irl, where youre confused half the time because you dont understand what theyre thinking and whats going on

You’ll disagree with me on this one and that’s ok but the general public does not pay attention to his parenting skills. The people that call him a deadbeat are Larries and Harries. Larries because they’ve been here during the whole fiasco (aka me) or have fallen down the bbg rabbit hole. Louis actually seems to be a recruiter with all these denials having the opposite effect. Harries will hate on anything Louis is about and get downright nasty about it. Louies either feed into the parenting role or don’t care. Same with the smoking and drinking. The general public sees celebs doing both of these things on a continual basis and don’t bat an eye unless you’re falling over on stage, which some have actually done. It’s normalized unfortunately. Same goes for the homophobia allegations. His performances with flags & light shows that fans have done, portray a welcoming atmosphere even if he’s not holding a flag directly. His little videos also show rainbows so that’s sort of an outdated thought too. With this promoting of donations for WarChildUK, he’s also been included in some pro-Palestine tik-toks and Twitter posts. So his biggest image problem to the general public is actually that he’s not known as a solo artist. Even with that positive press at Glasto, articles rarely mentioned his solo career. Just that he was in 1D. That’s his main issue.

I think you absolutely nailed it when you said his music choice with indie/pop is a factor. He’s too pop for indie and too indie for pop. With these festivals too, some just can’t get past his boy band history. Also his lack of radio play is a huge problem for him. I think people need to move on from that Spotify subject. They’re all losing large # of streams. This isn’t covid time anymore where all everyone did was sit at home and stream on Spotify. It was such a big deal because there were no tours or festivals. It was just streaming. There’s so many ways to listen and discover music now that it’s not the big deal people make it to be. His tour went well. I agree that the gp don't see him as a dead beat dad. They know what's been reported in the tabloids. Since it's always covered when he is with F, people may think he's an involved dad. On the other hand, fandoms know. Idk if you've seen the Bar*ry Keogh*an dead beat dad accusations, but i don't even pay attention to him and know about that. I disagree with you, because i think people have a homophobic view of him. At least in the queer/queer supportive cohorts. I see comments on this all the time. Some think that's why he fell out with H. The rainbow lights aren't ever reported on. He's never publicly said or done anything in support of the queer community. What is reported on is the Jenn Selby debacle, let me tell you, journalists hate him (with good reason). The chicken incident was covered and it makes him look like he's still having issues with people shipping him or thinking he's with H. Like i've said before, for me it's not about finding a new audience, it's about keeping and appealing to his current one. He has 35 million followers on twitter. That means there are 35 million people who are interested keeping up with him and hearing what he's got to say. Those 35 million know he's a solo artist. He's got a large fanbase and a large fandom. Half his fans don’t listen to his music, go to shows or buy his merch, because of various reasons.

For me the biggest threat currently is the too pop for indie/too indie for pop issue. He's doing 1D covers for the 1D stans, doing solo songs to show he's a solo artist, doing indie songs to show he's not a boybander, but he's doing it to an audience who sees him as a boybander, while singing boyband songs. He's trying to unite two opposing forces. I just don't ever see this working.

Since like, this summer, I’ve had this vague concept of a mallesil modern au, and it never really inspired me. I realized last night, while my mind was plagued by insomnia, that it didn’t give anything because i didn’t really flesh out silver as much as malleus. So here’s the concept.

Malleus —> like, 24 yrs old, just starting a masters in architecture. He’s the guitar in pop music club’s band. Also plays just about any instrument. Tattoo artist on the side. Rich boy, dead parents, grandma lives in a huge mansion, idk what his family does and why theyre so wealthy honestly like. Granny is strict and she disapproves of mal being in a band and living on his own, but he dgaf. He knows hes going to have to inherit whatever role granny occupies and tbh he’s comfortable knowing hes going to have like, some sort of authority. But for now he enjoys being sort of rebellious.

Silver —> like 18 (we need to do our best to parallel the human slash fae age gap, sorry). In the process of making a career out of being a ballet dancer!!! (Also does fencing and rides horses). Also a rich boy! Im paralleling the theory that silver is a stolen prince by giving him rich parents. Overprotected, strict parents. Idk what his parents do, but they work in the same domain as mals grandmother. (Perhaps theyre politicians…? That could add a layer of mystery around mals parents oh ooh… assassination? Im not fully decided yet but imagine.)

Pop music club (a band in this au);

Cater —> lead vocals. Not wealthy, really. Middle class. The band is his main income and he works as a ride operator in the summers. 22 years old. Dreams of fame and wealth. Art history student, met mal in a class they had in common.

Kalim —> drums. Rich boy. Mal’s childhood friend. Might be the son of politicians similarly to my idea for mal’s and silver’s families, and that’s how they know each other. The band is his hobby. He calls the shots. Spends his share of the money he earns spoiling his friends. Sweet angel. 21 years old.

Lilia —> bass (whore). Mal’s uni friend. He has spent so many years in university. He’s 28, like dude please graduate soon. Very mysterious. We dont know anything about his upbringing. Just a little freaky dude. Nomad. Malleus has no idea where that man lives. He crashes his apartment sometimes. Goes on road trips unprovoked. When he doesn’t show up to practice, the other three wonder if he really was just a collective hallucination. Then he shows up the next week like, oh hey guys i was (insert crazy adventure). The boys are used to it by now.

And of course, sebek —> 17. Silver’s childhood friend. Son of a dentist so hes relatively rich, not as much as silver/malleus/kalim, but still upper class. They’ve been rivals (according to sebek) since they were very small. They met during their first ballet class. He’s a fan of pmc+malleus’ band, and is especially a huge mal fanboy.

Mallesil have met a few times before. Think like, formal parties and such. They’re the 1%. It’s rare granny draconia and her grandson are invited, but when they do attend a party, everything gets real quiet. So mallesil have… noticed each other as children, think like, silver was 6 when he first acknowledged malleus’ (12) existence. Obviously the age gap is kind of significant at that stage so its not a problem that their guardians forbid them from interacting. (Though there was one time, when silver was 8 and malleus was 14, where silver got lost somehow, and malle was the only one he recognized in this huge mass of adults. He’s actually very straightforward, like « im lost », and mal guides him back to his parents without a word lol)

It gets a bit more problematic as silver grows up. Stolen glances, damn hes hot… silver is 17. He’d always been sort of fascinated by malle’s stature, his long, black hair, and his pale skin. Its like hes wrapped in mystery. Obviously, since silver is older now, he can finally recognize hes feeling attraction. Malleus… he cant help still seeing a child in silver since. Yk. Their very rare and brief interactions took place when silver was a literal child. But hey he can admit silver is cute… he sees him drinking like, non alcoholic cider in a corner and he comes up to him kinda nervous like… hey… u come here often. Its another brief interaction, but they find a secluded spot and malleus offers him a sip of his wine (im obsessed with the concept of mal making silver drink SORRY), silver is a bit shy and flustered… (hes a sensitive little gay boy). They have one thing in common, and its that they think these 1% parties are boring. There’s something scandalous about them interacting when their families strictly forbids them to like, even look at each other. (If were going the route that theyre politicians, granny has probably put into mal’s head that his parents were assassinated by silver’s family. He… believes her, but he cant blame silver for it, can he?)

They dont see each other again until like. A year later, when sebek drags silver to pmc+malleus’ show. Its late and silver shouldn’t even be there—he snuck out. He had no idea what he was going to see until he saw fucking MALLEUS on the stage. He’s in awe… the dexterity of his fingers, his large arms, the bright lights making him fucking shine, like wowww if he didn’t have a crush before, this is definitely what sells malleus. Now, imagine mal’s shock seeing silver in the fucking crowd—they make EYE CONTACT honey. His fingers fumble; his bandmates look back at him like ? For a single second before acting like absolutely nothing happened.

After the show, malleus calls to silver and they talk a bit in the alley leading to backstage of the venue (idk how any of this works)… like… what are you doing here i didn’t know u were into rock?… oh yeah I’ve seen sebek a few times hes kind of annoying. Need a ride home?

Next thing u know, romantic little motorcycle scene oooohhhhhh. Finally they exchange numbers… malleus has no social media presence lol the only way to contact him is to call or text him. As they are both children of important people, they cant exactly meet in public, but mal knows a bunch of secluded spots and he takes silver to quiet places on his motorcycle yasssss. They talk about anything, its secret, its scandalous, its exciting. Silver’s rebellious era.

One day silver takes mal to like, the dancing studio, & he practices in front of him, aww… mal plays the piano, idk some melody he had in his mind, & silver goes off track and lets his song guide his body, its all very sweet and cute… Harold theyre gay

I think it takes a whole year for silver and his parents to talk again. Like, ok you can’t just throw away your only son like that, be for real. They’ve been super overprotective for years, so of course they’ll worry about silver a year later, only to find out he’s doing okay, all things considered, and he’s been paying for his ballet/fencing classes on his own, and malleus helps out bc he cares about silver. It’s not enough for them to accept him, that takes a lot more time, because they truly feel like silver betrayed them.

tumblr is the only corporate social im willing to use at this point, purely because of how vastly different it is from its contemporaries, structurally and culturally, but they're very clearly doing something that is quickly turning me away. for lack of less sensitive term, staff is practically gentrifying the platform. (forcing shit from other socials that tumblrs lack of were the only reason i still used it)

given i use spacehey daily, im sure youre already aware that im not a big fan of the contemporary concept of the "social media". i wont go on my whole pedantic/esoteric rant about distinguishing the definition of a social media and a social network because thats a whole other essay for another time and its not worth the argument given im already trying to discuss something else at the moment. (ive literally written a research paper about this because i seriously am that obnoxious about the subject)

so; one of the most substantial changes that happened to social websites in general over the past 2 decades was the introduction of algorithmic feeds. for those unaware, tumblr is in fact the very last major social platform that still doesnt operate (primarily) off of algorithmic content, and this is direly important to the continued use it receives from older bloggers. the majority of people who regularly use tumblr today and have for years are still here because it is the last bastion of chronological dashboards. this also plays a huge role in why theres such a dramatically different atmosphere on tumblr compared to other platforms.

reblogs are literally the only way that things can "go viral". posts do not ever spread if people dont actively decide "i want to share this with my friends" and hit the reblog button, as well if their friends dont think the same. whats especially important is that this system is entirely end-viewer-oriented; it does not particularly favor reactionary content like an algorithm does. on a platform like twitter, any kind of engagement at all (replies, likes, qrts, etc) will be taken by the algorithm as an indication that the post is likely to resonate with people in some way, regardless of whether the post in question is receiving positive or negative engagement, and regardless of whether or not it is thoughtful or warrants that- not to mention how this problem is even further exacerbated by the character limits on microblogging social media platforms like twitter.

so people love tumblr for the fact that posts that you wouldnt share with your friends simply will not garner any popularity most of the time. this fosters a far more unique and interesting community and types of viral content, but youll notice that a little while ago, tumblr quietly added the "for you" page. realistically, nobody who actually has used tumblr since before that tab was added would ever even touch it because it is a spit in the face of what makes people love the platform. but they they knew most people dont vocally give a shit like i do.

the first problem arises when you consider that new users from places like tiktok and twitter will naturally assume the tab was always there and likely use it as their primary means of discovery. they wont learn or understand the way that the proper system tumblr uses of follows and reblogs actually works, which is steadily creating an enormous and frankly insurmountable divide between new and old users of the platform. its already fostering the kinds of passive interaction from people who dont understand tumblr's mechanics that is honestly genuinely harmful to the community overall. people misusing the tools that the platform has due to not understanding their function or assuming similarity to things they already know from other platforms. honestly, this in itself would not even be that much of an issue because we could simply ignore the new users who refuse to make the effort to understand how to use the app and fall for the advertising trap that is the for you page...

(ive been made aware you actually can turn this off from within an entirely seperate settings menu from the regular one that you open on the notifications screen for some reason?? the fact that i didnt even know this after using tumblr for this long is wild, but it doesnt invalidate my argument in that they turned it on automatically without asking or telling users) its not egregious enough to make me leave yet but its definitely been happening more and more frequently to the point that i am seriously doubting if i should consider continuing to use the website/app. this is the biggest structural issue, but its not the only example of what im talking about where tumblr is trying to pretend to be like other contemporary social medias in order to lure in new users without teaching them how things work so that they can use them as advertising guinea pigs.

another example would be the abrupt and frankly pointless introduction of tumblr live, which is entirely unnecessary and has received near unanimous criticism from older users. but a bigger one is something that a lot of people, especially newer users, mobile only users, or those straight other platforms have probably not even noticed- the completely silent removal of subdomain urls. (which is why people here call usernames urls in the first place) this one is way more apparent of an issue as far as my questionable use of the term 'gentrification' goes.

if i asked you the question "what is tumblr?" what would you say? more than likely, you would answer that its a social media- and to be clear, you would certainly not be incorrect in that assessment, but thats not the important part. as far as i can see, thats the first thing that comes to mind when they think of what tumblr "is" in its contemporary state. but if i asked somebody that a decade ago, they would likely give a completely different answer; they would say its a "blogging site". that's because fundamentally, that's what tumblr actually is and is supposed to be. a social blogging host platform. the dashboard and tumblr.com screen was always only half of it as far as the functionality went.

everyone used to have a personal website for their blogs, and people would often hook their tumblr blog up with its own custom domain as well. tumblr was first and foremost simply a blogging platform with social elements. while that subdomain (personal website) functionality does still exist, and you can see it on my blog because i customized my blog's css themes, they actually completely silently added a switch that gets rid of it, and they automatically turned it off for anyone that hadnt fully configured that page already which slowly consolidates everybody towards the exact same uniform tumblr-blog style like what you see on the mobile site. it forces a uniform visual aesthetic and functionality, which is one of the things i hate the most. in the first place, the enormous number of people who hadnt set up their page properly is largely because tumblr has for a few years now actively discouraged, hidden, or obfuscated the 'personal website' aspect of the service for whatever reason they may have using a method ill get into in a moment. it may be because they thought it was too convoluted for newer internet users who dont understand, or it may have been a more calculated effort to abandon older infrastructure and replace it with replicas of more contemporary systems like are used in other social medias, but it doesnt make a difference to me.

blogging is all about self-expression, and restricting that defeats the point so fucking hard. on the mobile app, my page will look something like this.

though this screenshot is taken on desktop. the url here is "https://www.tumblr.com/virtueisdead". this is an entirely separate and pretty recently added functionality called the profile view, which is entirely different from how the website used to operate, which is demonstrated for clearly by the fact that this is not what my blog is actually supposed to look like. in fact, you cant even see what blogs are supposed to look like on the mobile app at all. if you open your browser and go to my actual blog url, "https://virtueisdead.tumblr.com/", you can see the intended design, which is very similar to my spacehey profile.

im honestly not unconvinced that they intend to eventually completely distinguish the old blogging system (akin to wordpress and blogger) from the social media aspect of the site entirely, though thats more of a crack theory. the fact remains that they began to silently get rid of people's actual blog pages, slowly forcing uniformity with the mobile app. (this is less important, but another part of that that drives me up the fucking wall is that i cant even use the tumblr website in my main browser anymore. they made it so it only works in certain browsers, and im sure i dont need to explain why that is absolutely insufferable behavior)

tumblr is absolutely trying to mimic other social media platforms like tiktok and twitter in order to attract users from them or give them a more 'familiar experience' and its absolutely a detriment to the experience for people who use tumblr specifically because it isnt like other corporate social platforms. this is a separate gripe, but...

ive said before and will say again, twitter users should not look for an alternative to twitter, they should just stop fucking using it. thats like going from smoking a cigarette brand that uses slave labor to one that doesnt. youre a more ethical person but youre still giving yourself lung cancer.

YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD, I was wondering why I had such a huge issue with his rp this stream, and it's literally the chronic main character syndrome that hurt to witness. I'm sooo sorry, but you are not That Guy here. This is the Brazilians turf in terms of lore hard carrying and plot centrism, shoehorning yourself in that way just isn't possible at this point unless you're able to fully commit. I enjoyed the parts where he was just hanging out with everyone, but every time he tried doing lore or roleplay I just sighed really heavily.

i want to point out that i was a big defender of wilbur during dsmp era where he got shit sometimes for centering himself too much (literally untrue he purposefully centered tommy about 90% of the time like im crying) before people get on me

i also want to point out that from what i know about qsmp, the other cc's and obviously tallulah and other eggs have really been doing a lot to keep him involved and remembered in the server, so he does still have a large role to play even with the limited time he'll have on the server

but yeah a lot of the lore elements i was just not into, i understand having to focus on tallulah being missing tho because thats basically his only role on the server

this kinda turned into a final thoughts ramble (essay) so under the cut it goes

honestly it kinda peaked for me at ep 3 (which was a REALLY good ep so the bar was high and i was mostly enjoying the changes up through that point),, i still liked it but i feel like some of the changes they made altered the impact of the og ellie/joel relationship. theyre dedicated to rewriting ellie to have some "violence" problem to attempt to set her up better for part 2 but i just hate that they actively have chosen to do this to her character. they took a lot of her sweetness away which is a huge shame to me. theyre so weird about ellie honestly i dont like the way they talk about her half the time these days i had to stop watching the bts because the way they kept talking about "violence" made me ill sick even. like you can still have your character have a "descent into madness" type plot after experiencing an extremely traumatic event (after a lifetime of traumatic experiences) without being weird about how "violent" people are. they love to throw that word around but they dont like to investigate Why exactly people are being violent and to Who. its typically just violence and/or revenge=bad 😐 (<-and that i think kinda leads into other problems i have with the plots they write in general)

i had less problems with joel. my only real problem was that they really played up the old thing a little much like save it for part 2 lol also not enough accent i didnt hear a single "elleh". i wasnt a fan of how they decided to change joel and tommys convo about ellie, and while i can appreciate it more now knowing that they still committed to portraying joels actions in the final episode as the selfish acts they are, and seeing joel have fears of failure makes sense because im sure he feels he failed as a parent, im still not a fan of how maria doesnt get to chew him out for his selfishness (important character moment of reflection on selfish behavior and consequences of actions on people around him), and how it changes the atmosphere of his and ellies argument when half of the reason he doesnt want to take her is because he feels too old and slow to protect her. and Then when he Does decide to take her its like? werent you crying last night about being slow and deaf and the impact that has on your combat ability? did that change? i understand why they added the lines they added but i dont feel like it made sense with how they continued to play out the episode with line for line scenes from the game...like these are two different things now. similar, but different enough to introduce problems where there didnt used to be. and then hes stabbed and dying 10 mins later

the pacing in general was a little iffy to me. it was only 9 episodes and 2 of them are separate from the main plot. that, plus rewriting existing characters/plots, plus not being able to fit in the more softer personal moments between joel and ellie that would just happen throughout a map(i know its hard to make watching 2 people walk cross country interesting but we needed more of those moments), plus ellie being preemptively hardened so we see less of her soft side slowly cracking through joels tough shell really impacted the believability of their relationship for me. we're supposed to see ellie become more hardened over the game but honestly in the show she always feels at the same level to me :/ those soft moments Are still there but i wouldve liked to have seen more of them. especially felt the loss of the scene where ellie sees real fireflies for the first time

the reason why i love the original last of us so much is because i think it is an INCREDIBLE character piece. every single character plays a very important role in shaping the development of the main two protagonists relationship (the two of which are Also impacting each other) over the course of the story. while i loved bill and franks ep, i wish they would have introduced a new character to fill the role that og bill left. because og bill was very important for joel. he was like a ghost of christmas future showing the man he could become if he continued to push people away. and throughout bills segment joel frequently pushes back against his ideas and this usually lent to a little bonding moment between him and ellie. but this also showed us that joel was open to new connections. whether he would get over his fear of that or not to be solved at a later date (ie: the tommy incident that was altered for the show and my problem with it because joels choice to take ellie after their argument is EVERYTHING and the show muddied it a bit). but by the time they leave bill, joel and ellie have begun building a true connection

sam and henry also suffered from this imo. by writing in all the kathleen stuff, it takes the focus away from how sam and henrys familial relationship is the foundation from which joel and ellies closer familial bond is allowed to grow (which also becomes a source of division when ellie wants to talk about what happened to them but joel wants to move on, which leads into their conflict during tommys section which boils down to more "talk about it vs move on"). i also feel like the story is weaker for choosing not to include the story of kyle and ish. because although it happens mainly through notes, its a story about letting yourself learn to trust new people and the things you can do with a strong community, its a story about how even though good things may come to an end, the time we had together was important and meaningful and WORTH IT and i wouldnt have done it any other way. id much rather focus more in on that as a theme (compounds with the riley/left behind segment/plus joels final act of selfishness) than whatever tf was going on with kathleen and her revenge plot. plus i thought the first game was all about "love" so why not go harder into these "light in the darkness" themes? kathleens plot is just a watered down part 2 anyway i still dont think we needed that :/

all my grievances aside however they Did stick the landing and i was so relieved plus i enjoyed the added anna segment. as someone whos played tlou like at least 10 times over the last decade plus watched others play, it was going to be impossible for me to not constantly be comparing the two. to be fair i think one of the strongest points of the show was how they really nailed how it felt to actually BE the player in these scenes that i had already played a hundred times myself. im sure this show was great for someone whos never played the game since a lot of my problems come from how they decided to do certain things for the show. i hope the people who enjoyed the show but havent experienced the game go watch a clip comp or something because i definitely believe the og game is still the best way to experience this story. video games also deserve more respect as an art form but thats a whooooole other conversation

i wish my opinion was stronger than 'it was fine overall with a couple solid episodes' but welp....definitely couldve been worse tho so im glad its at least as good as it is. it is good!! but the game is very near and dear to me so...i am biased but i tried to at least give it as fair a shake as possible. i think it started pretty strong. peaked with bill and frank. then dipped a little lower than the first ep. then picked back up to first eps strength again for the final stretch. the bill and frank and left behind eps were my favorite parts of the season. its a bit of a shame that the 2 eps that are most removed from the plot are the strongest to me, but also i guess it makes sense

Each time i play Rdr2 i always try really hard to like Abigail but i just can’t for the life of me 😩 I can’t help but find her annoying but at the same time im literally afraid to express my feelings about her because i always get attacked and made out to be misogynistic which is bullshit. I like all the other women in the camp even Molly! but idk what it is about Abigail that people get so heated when i say i dislike her despite having a lot of valid reasons for my dislike. This is also coming from someone that played Rdr1 and i gotta say that she was a bit more likeable in the first game but still annoying. For the whole time i played Rdr1 i wanted John to have a relationship with Bonnie because i honestly think she would be such a better option for him than Abigail. I never understood why she is so mean towards John, if John would be awful towards her then i would understand completely why she was that way but whenever John interacts with her he is nothing but kind while she is just mean for no reason. Now i don’t know whether you like Abigail or not but im interested in reading your opinion about John and Bonnie and if you think they’d be better together.

Really? I'm known as one of the - if not the - largest Abigail fans in the fandom. Don't let this worry you at all because I'm against getting mad at people who don't like a character. Interesting, you say you get such a negative response because I receive so many hateful anons about me liking Abigail. Regardless, it doesn't give people the right to bully you.

Interesting you find her more likable in rdr 1, I thought she was kind of annoying in that game. She had her reasons, though. I have some meta here about Abigail and how she is if you're interested. It may provide a different perspective. At the end of the day, no one can make you like a character. No one. As long as you don't hate her for truly misogynistic reasons, then there's no harm done. If it truly is misogynistic, then yeah, that's an issue. I've roleplayed Abigail for years, and I am the first to say she has her problems. Every character does. I disagree strongly with how she hit John or some of the language she uses, for example. However, Minus the abuse there - which is huge - the other stuff is more minor. I don't like how she didn't acknowledge John's role in saving Jack as much, but I have a meta that addresses that, too. The epilogue Abigail was really out of character for me. I will never agree with her actions towards John in the Mr. Geddes situation. If your reasons are things like because she's a former sex worker or because she does nothing but nag (which, in itself, isn't necessarily misogynistic, but it depends on how it's written.) Things like "she trapped John into a marriage" and "she's using him" - stuff like that can be borderline misogyny, depending on how it's written. I say it usually is than it isn't myself. Other than that, it's stuff that she can't control that would make it misogynistic, too. I think we need to acknowledge that neither she nor John are perfect, and their relationship is not perfect.
