Never will I stop with the steadfast notion that folks in the DPXDC fandom should interact with at least some form of canon DC media.

There are comics, tv shows, radio dramas both old and new, podcasts, movies, magazines, so much shit that intentionally avoiding the media is simply preventing yourself from spawning new ideas and gaining a new appreciation for a fandom that you’re already in.

The Superman Radio Show has episodes 11 minutes long. A lot of the TV shows don’t have episodes that surpass 30 minutes and most are nearly fully clipped on the official DC YouTube channel. The amount of fan made motion comics is astounding. The amount of fanmade animations is equally as incredible.

i had more info abt her than i thought lol

(this takes place four years post canon so everyone is four years older)

story summary: rory and her brother rhys are attacked by a large number of eggmans badniks after being chased out of their homes. rory gets badly injured and rhys gets caught by eggman separating him and his little sister.  

rory gets found by knuckles who takes her to the others to get her injuries treated. once concious, rory is desperate to find her older brother practically fighting the group as they try to get her to rest. after a meltdown rory explains what happened to her and her brother the others convince her rhys is going to be ok and that they will search for him and get her to finally get some rest

blablabla they try to look for rhys they cant find him for a LONG time

meanwhile rory usually sicks around with knuckles and sonic, since they remind her the most of her brother. knuckles and sonic sort of mentor her and help her improve her fighting skills. she also becomes friends with tails because of theyrw shared interest in engineering

rory and rhys reunite after six months and rhys is in REALLY bad shape. 

rory and rhys spend the next month and a half unable to leave eachother for more that 15 minutes without panicking due to the fear that theyre going to get separated again

after she and rhys are reunited they are taken in into sonics found family consisting of him, knuckles, amy, and tails

tails starts to see rory as a little sister(even though hes only a few months older) and end up spending a lot of time with her and rhys, they cause a lot of trouble for the others

other little bits:

rory is 12 rhys is 14

rory and rhys were chased out of theyre town after it was attacked by a horde of eggmans robots leaving them without a home for years

they become a pain in eggmans ass as they continuously fight him to get their homes back

rory and rhys have many scars from theyre battles and their shells are littered with scratches

rory has a scar by her right eye from being hit in the head during a fight and rhys has a long gash across his shell that he refuses to explain where it came from

rory has a hyperfixation on bombs and are constantly making different kinds

during her fights she prefers to drop bombs and curl up into a ball and roll away, she is fine if she doesnt get away in time since her shell protects her for the most part

she has many burn scars from accidents with bombs

sonic taught her how to spin dash

knuckles teaches her close combat fighting 

rory enjoys spicy foods while rhys cant handle spicy foods at all

rory is always getting in trouble for making rude comments about others

rory has once made a rocket launcher out of some badniks and scrap metal from a run down building

rory tends to be really childish and is often getting in to minor arguments with rhys (as siblings do)

after case law update today i’ve been thinking about a lot but it really did make me think about what I wrote in the behemoth, because it was just another real life reminder of what would’ve happened to Annie. the second anyone found out she was pregnant, which almost definitely happened when she was either in Thirteen or the Capitol after the war, hence why i’m saying all this, there would at the very least be immense pressure for her to have an abortion, if not the threat that her baby would be taken from her and placed with someone else as soon as it’s born. because that is simply often what happens when you are a mother and mentally ill to the point of it seriously impeding your “functioning”, even if you’re not experiencing those symptoms in that moment. she would’ve had to fight tooth and nail to keep that baby, it would’ve been ugly and so hard because she’s working against all these preconceived notions people have had for years, and i’m sure once she succeeded (because she does succeed in keeping her son!) she would be so overprotective and so closely attached to him. I just don’t see a way around it.

Yuca reads 'The Rumic Theatre!!': Those Selfish Aliens

First up, Those Selfish Aliens (Kattena Yatsura)!! Oh my god, I love this one. Like, I love all of the Rumic World One-Shots but I have a special soft spot for this one because it really shows Rumiko's skill and potential. This work was judged by a couple of mangaka since it was an entry to Shonen Sunday's "newcomer contest", in quotes because I forgot the actual name of the contest and I'm too lazy to google it but it's basically what it says, and the judges comments were more or less like "art could improve a lot but it is a very fun and creative story". And yeah, they're right. The artstyle is cute and nostalgic but some drawings, expressions and stuff feel a bit weak. I've noticed this in early UY too btw, there's this one panel where Lum is sitting on branch in a tree and the size difference and proportion between Lum and the tree felt really off. Of course, these are all things Rumiko improves at while making UY, Her drawings and expressions looks a lot more alive and wonderful since then, her size and proportion game is incredible and her artstyle is literally iconic and it's really satisfying to see how much someone like Rumiko has improved and it's really inspirational too. The story also showed off Rumiko's potential perfectly when it comes to storytelling, it's so wonderfully wacky and creative, a literal example of thinking outside the box. Like, the whole concept of 'a newspaper delivery guy gets abducted by aliens and then fishmen and then humans, who all place bombs inside of him, while he wants to deliver the goddamned papers and also meets this cute, awesome girl who was the fishmen's pet, but then the universe is in peril because of the bomb planters stupidity and selfishness (thus the title) and they form a truce and make sure the guy delivers his papers as safely as possible while the guy doesn't know that he's a literal fucking explosive and the girl hangs out with him even though she knows' is absolutely insane, like oh my god (I had so much fun typing everything in the single quoted section lol). It's so entertaining and it shows that Rumiko Takahashi has a bunch of great ideas with this being one of them. It's charming, funny, the characters are likeable and it just such a fun and cozy read. Also, I hear many say that this is the blueprint to Urusei Yatsura but asides from the Sci-fi themes, dappyamen, the title, Akane's flirtatious behavior being a bit similar to Lum's; it's not really all that similar to UY lol. Anyways, Kei is a funny protagonist and the gag of him being dedicated to his newspaper deliveries is so damn funny (on a related note: He's dedicated to his job, and he respects women, 10/10 man) and Akane (Rumiko's first ever Akane) is a lovable, strong and supportive female lead.

They are both also really cute together btw, made for each other.

Anyway, really enjoyed this one: 8/10.
