Kinda fucked up that we all coo and sympathize with "former gifted kids" but never talk about the students who had to stay late after school or over the summer for remedial classes/clubs, who struggled to get above a C, who were given up on or punished. Who tried so hard to understand or just couldn't. Who were grouped with the "stupid kids" (a classmate called us that in remedial math btw)

Autistic kids and adhders who can't relate to their gifted peers and are constantly alienated by them. Kids who struggled in school due to dealing with a chronic or mental illness or physical/learning/developmental disability. Those of us who have had to drop out of highschool or college. Kids who worked so hard and wanted to be seen as smart, but never were. Who watched as their peers seem to fly by them in school, while they were left behind. Who were bullied and put down by those in the gifted and honors classes. Whose confidence was absolutely destroyed by education.

I love you all and I'm so sorry the school system failed you. I'm sorry you weren't properly accommodated and given the education you deserved. I'm sorry people put you down for something that they never had to fight for.

I know I don’t owe any of you anything but I still felt compelled to write about my long term absence. And I feel far enough away from the dangerous spot I was in to be able to make this comic. I have a therapist now, and she agreed that making this could be a very cathartic gesture, and the start of properly leaving these thoughts behind me. I am still, at seemingly random times, blindsided by fleeting desires to kill myself. They’re always passing urges, but it’s disarming, and uncomfortable. I worry sometimes that my brain’s spent so long thinking only about suicide that it’s forgotten how to think about anything else. Like, now that I've opened that door for myself, I'll never be able to fully shut it again. But I’m trying my best to encourage my mind in other directions. We'll see how that goes.

I am still donating all proceeds from my store to Palestinian causes. So far, I've donated over $15K, not including donations coming from my own pocket or the fundraising streams which jointly raised around $10K. In the time since I made my initial post about where this money would be going, the focus has shifted from aid organisations to directly donating to escape funds.

If you'd like to do the same, you can look at Operation Olive Branch, which hosts hundreds of Palestinian escape funds or donate to Safebow, which has helped facilitate the safe crossing and securing of important medical procedures for over 150 at-risk palestinians since the beginning of the genocide.

idk how much of this is biased by my traumatized brain but tbh growing up now i feel like overexplaining yourself is just tiring and i don't wanna do it. like, if i have an issue with someone or whatever i used to really dissect it and wish to dissect it with them so they'd Understand Perfectly and what i got from that is : it doesn't matter at all because even well meaning people don't understand most of the time. they don't care to, maybe they just can't because they work different, not everyone can put themselves in someone's else brain no matter how hard you wish to etc, and also, sometimes, it's still inneffective because even if they understand they're still hurt but now they also resent themselves/you for it. maybe they get defensive too, because now they understand how much their actions hurt me, and why, and they hate to know that. it's a mess. it's like the more feeling i give them the more they can twist them into knots.

yknow what i like doing now .. being like. i'm gonna sit on this and allow it to make me sad/angry/whatever. i can dig it up a bit, try to get why i feel this way. and then i'll see if i wanna talk abt it to the person or not, is it worth it ? can it change ? is it just the result of my issues ? if i think it is worth it, i'll be like "i didnt like when you did that, maybe theres smthg i do that you don't like too, let's talk abt how to be cooler in the future when u have ideas" and bam. if the person needs to Understand Everything Perfectly like my procressing/why it hurts/why im like this then,, maybe we can dish it out yknow. but honestly i'd rather not do it, im so tired of poking the beast i just wanna walk forward

most important thing you can do as a tumblrina is get into some media almost none of your followers know about or have engaged with in any form so you can make long untagged posts complaining about peoples bad takes to an audience of 3 total people. second most important thing you can do as a tumblrina is get obsessed with some ugly guy from said media and start posting about him with captions such as "so cuties forever 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖" so your mutuals can give you a polite golf clap like while attempting to withhold their mildly scathing judgement

all you’ve got to do is pick one activity to do tomorrow. One thing to look forward to. Find a new movie or tv show you want to watch. Check out if there are any local bands playing gigs nearby. Find a random new skill to teach yourself. Do your grocery shopping at a different supermarket. Play stardew valley with someone. Find a new recipe to learn how to cook. See what movies are in cinemas near you. Find a niche museum or community centre in your town. Explore a new park. Go to a thrift store. Go sit in the library for a few hours. Get coffee with a loved one. You can’t leave yet, you’ve got that activity to go do. Keep picking activities. I love you. Stay safe.
