Wanted to do some art of @circusinarun's swap AU of warrior Penelope (here). I want to do art and so much other stuff for the EPIC musical in general (especially since the last saga is so soon RAH), because it got me back into mythology. But I don't think I'll be doing any until after it's over.

But that doesn't mean I can't do AUs! (Hope you don't mind I used my ver. of Ares for this Kobi; it let me figure out more of his design like changing his helmet)

. . . they are best friends, right? They probably aren't, but Ares isn't that well liked by the other gods, so I think him being best friends with Penelope would be cute! Idk, it's probably me just being a fan of Ares that I don't want him to be friendless lmao.

I'm so curious on how this AU would flow, you know? Like, is Calypso a human in this AU that replaces Antinous in Little Wolf; and if so, who's on Antinous Island (don’t mind this question I can’t read)? Does Calypso trap Penelope there, if she is a goddess (ignore this too I still can’t read)? Who would Ares argue with in place of Aphrodite, or would she be in the challenge of God Games anyway? I'm assuming Eurylochus is replaced by his wife Ctimene, but is Polites in the same role?

It's a lot of questions that aren't that serious, it's just a fun AU, but I'm a curious person who loves details. I especially like thinking about how God Games would go, since no one really likes Ares other than his family, lover, and those who associate with him like Eris. It'd be on hard mode for him and it makes me sad to think about, yet so intrigued on how he'd convince them all; especially Hephaestus and Athena, but I feel like she wouldn't be so hard to convince... just stubborn against her brother to agree.

fun detail I only put into context after seeing the post-fade jail romance scenes with all the companions: lucanis is the only one where rook is surprised when they realize he's there as he starts talking, because they didn't hear him come in haha. (Bellara and Neve knock before entering, like relatively normal people fhsda. Harding's scene starts in medias res but from the staging my vibe is that she and Rook entered the room together. Taash walks into the room ahead of Rook. Davrin comes in through a door left open for him -- Rook is standing with their back turned but they clearly expected him, they just smile a bit and don't seem surprised. Emmrich of course takes you to the Grand Necropolis for the top goth hookup since Mary Shelly fucked on her parents' graves, the man quite simply never misses.)

lucanis has also closed the door behind him without rook noticing. old assassin habits die hard I suppose lol. he totally still accidentally jumpscares the others without meaning to all the time because he moves around quietly when he doesn't think about it, I know this in my heart. I wonder if he was just... looking at them for a while before he spoke up.

Hey just to ruin your day I want you guys to remember that before Drake in the second book Andrew had been making genuine steps towards recovery even if we didn’t get to see it very closely

Andrew being on his meds for the first and second book make it hard to see, especially since we didn’t meet him before he was on his meds but it can be inferred that he was making real progress on reclaiming his autonomy

He went to therapy regularly in which he actually talked to and got along with his therapist. He was able to have an ongoing relationship with Roland, and even though he insisted on using handcuffs that’s actually a healthy coping mechanism (he was able to recognise a problem which caused him distress aka people touching him without permission and applied a non-harmful solution which allowed him to continue without running away that’s the definition of learning to cope), he was not actively self-harming which we know by the fact that he has scars, not wounds, scratches or anything else, just healed scars. He was also able to accept and embrace his sexuality despite his history. He still has suicidal ideation but he is no longer practicing suicidal tendencies, which is genuinely huge progress

His biggest issues during the book are his meds (which seem to make it harder for him to regulate his emotions and his reactions and therefore causes him to the extreme measures which are familiar to him aka violence) and his relationship with Aaron/Kevin caused by an unhealthy desire to protect people. He was making an actual recovery, albeit a slow one, which just makes what happens to him all the more horrible

During the second book it had been seven years since he experienced that kind of abuse, seven years in which he clearly was slowly getting better only to be retraumatised again
