I'm confused as to where this 2Chainz was at the height of his career? The content on "Life Is Beautiful" is more introspective and empowering than anything in Chainz' solo discography. Larry June is a good influence on the Atlanta commercial rapper. Hearing Chainz rap out business insider tips, being a full-time father, taking ownership for negatively influencing Gen-Z with his 2010 trap rap run - this is fine introspection that I never believed Chainz was capable of. To answer the insert earlier in the album about if you can still sing the blues while being happy, well a comfortable Chainz apparently has the ability to. But Chainz is really just a glorified guest here. ALC and Larry June been doing this and "Life Is Beautiful" could have easily thrived without Chainz inclusion. June still is spittin' pimp talk and sea moss and ALC still keeps the horns blaring along with inserts that make this project a think piece perfect to ride to. Balloonerism #CVReview

A  spacey record more closer to Hip-Hop than Mac's "Swimming In Circles" series. Still, even posthumously, Mac's Warner releases are nowhere close to his 2010 mixtape-era. "Balloonerism" lacks the same playbackability of other artists posthumous catalogues, like Biggie or most recently Chino XL. Though I will say, Mac's music can still change the mood in a room to something positive, even when the majority of the records collected in "Balloonerism" are existential one end and then an anti-substance abuse campaign on the other. But those anti-drug bars just dont ring the same when the man spitting them ultimately became a victim to his vices. The instrumentation is primarily rooted in folk while the lyrical content is loose and written in a prose that is as skittish as jazz notes. In no way does "Balloonerism" give creedence to people in my generation and younger who have the nerve to crown the Most Dope mogul a Goat, but the album is a pleasant ride.
