Do you happen to have any sort of positivity post for fictives who lost their source, or it shut down, etc stuff like that? Or just some advice?

We recently found a figure of a character from an anime and mobile game we used to love back in ~2020/2021/2022 somewhere in there. It reminded us of it... and it alerted me to the presence of her. The character from that figure is actually with us. Upon putting her into simply plural, I went to find something to use as a profile picture. Only to find a reddit post that says "day 3 of drawing [source name] until EN shuts down" from sometime last year. Looking it up, it turns out the game was shut down about a year ago. I can feel she is feeling a lot of grief about it--and especially as she is probably still feeling a bit confused about everything if she is newly formed. I don't know the best way to approach this, as I myself just formed a few days ago.

Feel free to give advice if you have any, but it's alright if not.

Hi! So first off, we did write a positivity post for introjects who have lost or can no longer access their source. It will be posted on Thursday night at 8:00PM EST!

And as for some specific advice for you and this headmate, the biggest thing that comes to mind is to remind y’all that it’s okay to grieve, to mourn, and to feel negative feelings. Trying to ignore the pain won’t make it go away, and often can make it worse! So if this new headmate is feeling lost, hurt, or sad that her source has shut down, we’d encourage y’all to allow her to grieve however she feels most comfortable (as long as she’s not causing harm to your body or other headmates, of course!).

If you haven’t already, maybe see about getting her a journal or some other sort of space where she can vent and process her emotions privately. Having an outlet is really important for any system member, and especially those headmates who often find they’re dealing with big, heavy, or painful emotions!

She also might just need some time and space in order to come to terms with this. It might be good to check in with her often, see how she’s doing and how she’s adjusting to life/handling the news about her source shutting down, and do your best to honor her requests (within reason). If she wants a bit of space, try to give her that! If she wants someone to listen to her gush about her source and recall fondly different aspects of it, try to be that listening ear! Simply having someone in her corner who is ready and able to provide support could be a wonderful thing for her.

Also maybe see if she would like to have a little photo gallery with pictures of her source that she can look back on whenever she’s feeling wistful or nostalgic. Our own alters each have their own photo album on our phone, and they fill the albums with whatever sorts of pictures they want! Definitely ask her beforehand, but if she’s interested in the idea, putting together an album or gallery with pictures from her source could maybe help remind her of it while encouraging her to make peace with the fact that it’s gone (kind of like a shrine or a grave in a way!).

We hope something here might work for y’all - we’re really sorry if nothing we said here sounds useful! We’re wishing this headmate peace, hope, and acceptance in the future, and hope that y’all will be able to form some positive memories together very soon!

summary: it’s been months since Albedo has successfully hacked into your camera, he’s made it his plans to bring you to their world. Their god looked lonely anyways, the only problem was..it worked the wrong way around. Instead of you being brought. They’d been thrown into your world.

“Al-be-dooo~” a sigh left the blonde’s lips as he was poked and prodded by a certain bard. he tried his best to ignore Venti as he continued building a reactor. His hands worked at the wires and attached pieces to each other.

“Albedo!!” Venti whined more. “What?!” Albedo stopped glueing a metal piece together to looked at Venti who’s stretched out on his table as if bored. “Is it done yet? I wanna meet them already!“ to a normal person’s eyes, the current situation looks as if a kid did not get the candy they want.

“It’s almost done, just please bother someone else-“ Albedo waved his hands out of frustration trying to focus on the machine, he knew if anything went to the wrong spot the machine will never work. Venti blew a raspberry, he was extremely bored and every minute felt like an hour waiting for Albedo to finish.

“Barbatos, get off the table.” Zhongli’s booming voice called out, beside him stood inazuma’s archon. Ei looked out of it, looking anywhere but the portal with a blank stare, before she steps back.

“Are we really..bringing them into this world in an environment like this?” Ei had her hand on her chest, looking a little in disbelief. Albedo stops his cranking of a wrench. “What’s wrong with my lab?” He spits, looking at the archon.

“It’s just..dreadful. In short term, it stinks and is messy.” Ei complained. “Well if you just hate my stinky and messy lab, you can go wait for their grace in inazuma.” Albedo shot back glaring at her.

That seemed to quiet her down as she and Albedo just stared at each other in annoyance. “Stop yapping and get working!” Venti whines, he looked more like a spoiled child more than the anemo archon. Zhongli stood by obviously annoyed but fortunately he has the patience of a thousand years to keep him company.

“Traveller! You’re here!” Aether looked at Venti, nodding as a hello. “Albedo, is it done?” The outlander asked, Albedo nods, stepping back from the machine. It was shaped as a circle, made from the toughest metal and charged by a mysterious energy.

“Step back, I’m going to turn it on.” Albedo called, the group stepped back as he tried to turn it on, it made weird noises, clacking against the metal that protected it from crumbling from the cold Dragonspine area. It spewed out steam, buttons flew red and green, before busting and powering down. A pregnant silence washed over the group.

“Great! it didn’t work.” Venti sarcastically clasped his hands in exaggerated surprise. “I must’ve messed something up.” Albedo hummed, his hand on his chin, thinking.

“Aether can you- Aether?” Albedo called, not hearing a response, he turned around to look for the outlander to see him gone. “Did..did he leave?” Zhongli too looked around for the blonde traveller. “I don’t think he would- BAAL’S GONE-“ Venti pointed to the spot beside Zhongli.

Well, where Zhongli used to stand. “ACK- MORAX’S GONE TOO!” Albedo grabbed hold of Venti’s shoulders. “can you calm down, please?!” Venti’s screaming made Albedo’s head hurt, he then held his head in his hands to soothe the growing headache, before looking up. He was completely alone.

“That’s it. I’ve completely lost my mind.” Albedo walked away from his lab to get fresh air, he felt the cold air of dragonspine nipping at his skin, wanting to lean against the cold stone of the mountain and close his eyes for a second. Before he could reach a good spot to take a breather, he tripped, on a branch of tree course, before landing on something.

“…..bedo. albedo! ALBEDO!” Venti shook the alchemist by his shoulders, seeing himself in an unfamiliar room. He felt something warm and soft under him, seeing Aether with his hands trying to pull Albedo off. “Get off of me! You’re heavy!“ Aether wheezed out as he kicked Albedo off of him. “What..where?” Albedo dusted himself off, looking around the room.

“That’s the thing, we don’t know.” Zhongli mumbled, his hands crossed as if he was grumpy. Ei stood beside him, a little antsy as she too looked around the place like Albedo. The alchemist looked around the room, walking towards a small table with trinkets of things he didn’t know of, pens and pencils littered the table and books stacked somewhat neatly as if put on a shelf.

He took a piece of paper from off the desk, the handwriting on it was neat and placed nicely. he was indeed super curious. “Don’t touch that stuff! You don’t know who it could belong to.” Aether scolded Albedo, plucking the paper from out of his gloved hands.

the group stayed quiet as they mumbled amongst themselves, not knowing where they stood before a door opened.

You just returned from an errand at the grocery store and you felt extremely tired, you opened the door to your house, it was quiet, nothing but the meowing of your cat and the buzz of your purifier filled your ears. Your cat, Marsh meowed a greeting as he walked towards you, rubbing against your leg.

“Hello, Marsh, my baby.” You cooed, placing down the bags and scooping up your fur baby. Giving him his pets, the cat was content and now looked up at you as if to say to put him down. You obliged and let him leap off your arms as you brought your grocery bags into the kitchen.

“I’ll..just put them away later.” You dusted off the task of putting away your groceries, your back ached as you felt yourself yawn for what felt like the millionth time today. You walked up the stairs leading to your room, you hear muffled voices.

wait, voices?

You freeze. Either someone broke in or someone broke in, no other choice. You grabbed the nearest thing to you, which is a book. A heavy one. Carefully tested the doorknob as you slammed the door open.

oh my god.

“Zhongli?..” you were met with a character from genshin. wait, genshin? The fictional game? You dropped your book in surprise, a loud thud emitting from it. You stood dumbfounded as they too stared back.

A silence, the purifier from downstairs felt loud before a certain bard broke the silence.

“Your grace!”

“Your what?!”

First of all, I love your blog. You're just the sweetest. I am really glad that I found your blog.

I have a few questions I want your opinions on. I am working on a Johnlock fic of my own and I kind of wish for it to be acknowledged. In order to do so, do I have to add sex scenes or anything to lure in readers and make things " interesting ". I have a hard time writing porn if the characters are in a bumpy patch with each other. And I also I personally find the idea of being attracted to or having sex with an unknown person uncomfortable at best and nauseating at worst, no matter how attractive they may be, so writing sex scenes can be hard for me mentally.

Do you think it will make my story lose a large chunk of readers ?

I noticed a rather common pattern is that E and M rated fics with sex scenes often have a lot more views than fics of other categories. I don't know if this is universal or not but it's something I have noticed.

I am a bit worried that my story won't get noticed much due to my inability to write lots of sex scenes. Should I be worried?

I know the purpose of writing fanfic is for your own entertainment but I also want others to read and enjoy it.

I have read popular fics of the fandom with lots of sex scenes and I would often wonder how people can write them so easily. It just doesn't come naturally for me.

First of all, i am SO sorry for the delay in a reply to this... I drafted it and then completely lost it, and I scrolled down far enough and found it again, so my bad, I never meant to ignore you. Plus I just never felt my original response was good enough so I'm glad I'm doing better today to give you something I hope will help you feel better.

First of all: DON'T WRITE WHAT MAKES YOU UNCOMFORTABLE. PLEASE!! No (decent) reader would want to know that an author was unhappy writing their work, and oftentimes, that will come across in your writing as well; YOU may not catch it, but your betas and readers will, and honestly, writing should be something you ENJOY doing, and something that makes you happy.

Second: Don't write for other people. You should be writing the story because YOU have a story you want to tell. "Popular" fics got popular on luck firstly, and then word of mouth second. Don't write a story with the expectation of it becoming popular. I used to do this with my meta and my fanart... once I let go of trying to do what other people wanted or expected of me, and did my own thing, it shows in your work, and in the end it should be a pleasurable experience. Your Hobby that you're doing in your free time and not getting paid for should NOT feel like work.

Third: you do not need to include smut to be "popular". A lot of my fave fics have little-to-no smut in them. I've read 100K of T rated stories before. A lot of people love the LOVE more than the smut, and there's a huge audience for that. I personally love the buildup and the romance, the tender moments, and any smut as an epilogue is just fine in my books. But, fiction is subjective and is always based on individual preferences. Of course there are people who ONLY read E rated fics. And I know a LOT more people, actually, who are ALWAYS on the lookout for softer G,T, and M rated works because either they, like me, prefer the romance and buildup, or aren't comfy with sex at all.

So no, there is NOTHING wrong with you, at all. Write your story how YOU want to tell it. Sometimes, leaving things to the imagination is "hotter" than the descriptive stuff itself, in my opinion. A lot of us have good imaginations and can fill in the blanks, LOL.

Hi I am another Elriel shipper that genuinely loves reading you thoughts. While I don’t agree with everything you say I think they are very insightful and thought provoking and I enjoy them . Before I get to my point I just want to say that I am truly sorry on behalf of the Elriel fandom for all the negative that has been going down as of late. As someone who yearns for peace in the fandom and cannot tolerate seeing honest people being torn because of a ship.. seeing this shipwar pains me . I am fairly new to this fandom and I follow many Elriel blogs and pro Elaine and pro Lucien blogs. Some happen to be Elucien shippers too and I find myself gravitating towards them more as people rather than of my fellow Elriel shippers. Don’t get me wrong I still adore Elriel . But I just don’t want to surround myself with certain type of people no longer . My question is , Do you know of any blogs that lean more towards neutral shipping or don’t care about shipping at all?

Werewolf Worldbuilding Sheet

Instead of a werewolf fact this week, have something I’ve been working on for a little while now. I was sent an ask about a good werewolf worldbuilding sheet. Me being me, willing to settle for no one else’s werewolf things, I thought - hey, why not make my own? I love worldbuilding werewolves and I’ve tried to make sure to think of literally everything to do with mine, so I thought I’d put together a relatively simple werewolf worldbuilding sheet! (and maybe a vampire one in the future!)

I will first extrapolate on each section of the sheet and provide some thoughts/examples (and relevant werewolf facts to turn to for ideas!)...

What is lycanthropy and where did it come from? This is always something to consider. Note, of course, that where it came from may be a mystery, and that’s fine too. You don’t have to always do the “it came from a demon or a witch” thing like literally everyone else in the universe. How does one become a werewolf? Pretty simple question, but always complicated to answer! Well, potentially. How does someone become a werewolf in your story? Definitely a helpful werewolf fact for ideas - but also refer to several from the first question: Becoming a werewolf

Are there different terms for werewolves? Something else to think about! Are your werewolves even called “werewolves?” They don’t have to be, of course, but you know, it’d be cooler if they were. And most monsters, especially in older times, didn’t have just one name - not to mention other languages in your universe that would have their own terms for a werewolf. Are there different kinds of werewolves or similar shapeshifters? This is kind of a weird one, I know, but hey, it’s something to think about. I for one don’t go into the “werewolves are just one kind of shapeshifter that happen to all be pretty much exactly like werewolves but different animals” (looking at you, D&D and WoD), but lots of people do, so that’s up to you! What triggers a werewolf to return to human form again? What it says on the tin. This can vary a lot! It’ll definitely be influenced by the first question, but it’s something to maybe think about separately.

Can a werewolf be “cured”? This can depend, of course, on what exactly your werewolves are/how they work, but it’s always useful to know the answer as to whether or not there’s any hope of someone being totally human again. Please note of course that my werewolf facts are here to give you ideas, not be instructions. Werewolves of your creation are of your creation, and thus you should create them the way you want and like them! I don’t want to dictate to anyone the way werewolves “should” be, although I absolutely have my personal preferences. The werewolf facts are meant to give you ideas and, hopefully, be a good jumping off point.

Folklore isn’t always the coolest portrayal of werewolves - it’s just better, IMO, to use folklore as a basis or at least as an idea basin instead of ignoring it entirely. The folklore for werewolves is awesome, just like all folklore. But pop culture has given us some cool things, too.

And remember, if you have any other questions or want to throw ideas at me or ask me my thoughts on anything, I am more than happy to talk werewolf ideas with you! Please, share your werewolves with me! okay i have kind of a dumb question for you and feel free to ignore this lol, you just seem like a really approachable person that i feel okay asking.

so how.. did you like get started as a writer on tumblr? because i know you’re fairly new and you’ve been so successful (i ADORE your fics by the way), like how do you even start? like everyday i just stare at my blank blog and i want to start like posting things i just don’t know where to begin you know😭any tips?

Hi anon!! Not a dumb question at all! Sometimes I still ask myself how I got here 😂

My first post was Don’t Lie to the God of Lies - it was just a random idea that came to mind and I wrote it out and just kind of threw it out there for people to see. I would say the second post, An Unfortunate Predicament was more popular. It just sort of built from there.

A lot of how you start is tagging things well - people find new stuff through tags, so you want to make sure you’re catching the right audience. Also, reblogging other people’s work can sometimes get people to view your blog/follow you too.

In terms of what to post - that is up to you! I started right off with just throwing a fic out there. You could also start by reblogging content so your page starts to get some posts before you post something if you prefer. The key is not to get discouraged if your first few posts don’t get the attention you were hoping for - it takes time for people to discover new stuff!

When I started, my main focus was that I am writing for me, for my own enjoyment, and I’m just sharing my work with you all in case you, too, might enjoy it. And that is still a big focus. You should love what you write and post. It’s an added bonus if others do too.

Request Rules and General Information

So let me preface everything with this- I haven’t really done an imagine nor reader fic since I was 12 haha. So please be gentle with me. But below is basically guidelines for requests (what character I do, etc. ) and some other important stuff

1. As mentioned, please be kind and patient with me. I love to write but I kind of created this blog to help me focus and practice. But do not interact if you are racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, ableist, and a general asshole. Please. 

2. My personal blog also has some writings on it for AOT (Eremika stuff fully lol). I am kind of on the fence on whether to move them here and whether or not to accept AOT requests. But just for the record if anyone is curious why there is a mix of tumblrs linked on my A03- that’s why.

3. I am not interested in engaging in volatile fandom discourse such as ship wars. I will use discretion if I ever feel like commenting on something of that nature but it is just not a priority for me. 

4. This blog is SFW. Anyone 15+ is allowed to interact with my content. However- ageless and blank blogs will be blocked. I just don’t need that stress. I am interested in writing smut but I have decided that will only be posted to AO3 when I decide to write it. 

5. I love to chat! So don’t be shy- however please do not send something of a triggering nature. I will ignore it.

6. Do not send me asks with fanart in them. Please just link- it is stealing if you send it in like that.

1. These are the characters I will write for:

2. I will accept up to four characters per prompt/ request. (This is subject to change)

3. I will try my best to work out any request- that being said I am allowed to reject a request for any reason. It is nothing personal . It could really be a case of I can’t figure out how to go about it, etc , etc. So do not send hate over a request not being done. 

4. Things I will not write:

- Male or Trans Reader

- Race Specific Reader

- Explicit or Dark Content

- Nothing related to eating disorders, self-harm, or suicide.

IMPORTANT- *As mentioned this blog is SFW- but if the prompt is more along the lines of “How would Character react to a partner whose parents are manipulative?” or “How would Character react to a partner who was in an abusive relationship?” - These are fine.

5. Nothing incredibly vague nor incredibly specific in requests. For example, sending in a request for “Bakugou Headcanons” is too vague for me personally. If it it a request like “Bakugou Date Night Headcanons” that is PERFECT. For specifics- just avoid sending in something that is asking for a direct timeline of events. It just doesn’t give me much room to work with.

6. I am accepting up to ten requests at a time. It is marked in my navigation how much I have at the moment. If there is still under ten the submissions will be open. Send through the ask or submission box (I’ll leave you anonymous if you sent request through here- if you wish). Once I have received and selected a full ten. I will ignore anymore that is sent. 

7. Generally- I love to write fluff, rom-com, humor, and comfort! I’ll even entertain crack requests. So go wild honestly if you want- I’ll try.

As someone who came to fandom relatively recently and was never a larrie, it looks to me like whenever something happens that challenges their version of events they all kind of float explanations then wait for an influential larrie like Amy to pick a storyline and then they just repeat it like it’s fact and then carry on like the thing never happened. Like they were confronted with Freddie’s existence at Christmas then decided Louis must be “pushing the stunt” because they’re ending it soon (???) and now they’re all comfortable again…until the next time Louis talks about him, or something else. It’s so bizarre that they take all these hits to their fantasy and kind of absorb them and just keep on going like some horrible undead blob creature. When you were a larrie was it like actively ignoring stuff you didn’t want to see or did you actually not see it because larries are careful about what they share? It’s so interesting to me, I’m sorry for going on so long!

Hellooooo. So yeah your basically right about the Larrie psyche and how it works. When something happens, eg a Louis and Freddie moment then smaller Larries look to bigger Larrie blogs for guidance. Often they will acknowledge it for a small amount of time in some way like ‘lol that kid doesn’t know louis at all and it’s so obvious’ and then refuse to speak about it further then plough on with their delusions. If they get any asks from anxious Larries they often say things like ‘lol if you can’t see how fake this is then idk what to tell you. I’m not talking about this anymore’ and don’t allow it to be analysed or discussed in any way. It’s all about being a ‘good Larrie’. Your a good Larrie if you don’t allow things (reality) to make you doubt your Larrie beliefs and your ‘doing what evil management wants’ by doubting things. Also yeah some things as a Larrie I didn’t see as some things they just completely ignore and refuse point blank to acknowledge.

It’s really fucked up when you take a step back. And I truly believe, based on my own experiences, Larries aren’t fully aware of how manipulative they are being because they are so not entrenched in their delusions but it is sooooo manipulative. Really if these things didn’t phase them they’d debunk them in detail. Also part of being a Larrie is expecting shit to get flung at you constantly so reality doesn’t phase them as much as an outsider would think as they live in a world where they have trained themselves to ignore reality constantly.

You will lafff..... but I will tell anyways..... I was prescribed a “life coach” after I got out of the hospital, which was really just a poorly disguised softcore “make sure u don’t yeet urself” type of thing. He had me write down things I liked about myself, and when I returned the sheet of paper still blank, he wrote stuff down for me. Like five sentences of “My hair and skin are unique and special” “I like animals and enjoy being kind to them” “I am worthy of respect” etc etc. and I had to look in a mirror twice a day and say those sentences to help “boost my self worth”. It sucked so bad dude, and I like got upset about it every time it came up, until finally my therapist was like “... this aint doin this sad bitch no good” and my parents got designated for yeet watch instead.

I know, logically, that (the majority of) people are not purposefully taking time out of their day to make me feel bad. They're trying to be encouraging and loving, and I appreciate it so much. But like... what do I say? If I say thanks, it’s almost like acknowledging what they're saying as true, and I can’t live with myself thinking I’m more than I am. I’m sorry you’ve had experiences that make compliments difficult for you also, I understand bro and I hope that your future holds healing and peace for you.

The Star Fox Adventures Game Manual -- Analysis

So, you may remember a few months back, I received a lot of hate mail on AO3 and FF.net for a fic that I posted that I’ve since taken down in hopes of redoing someday.  The hate was largely from people who don’t like Panther (the fic was Krystal x Panther) but a lot of their arguments were attempts to debunk how “canon” my fic is.  With a lot of my fics, I don’t stray too far from canon, but I do fill in “gaps” with my own headcanons.  I feel like the SF series is a comfortable enough blank slate to do that.  Mild spoilers for future fics, but one of these headcanons is that Panther is Cerinian.  I’ve actually covered this headcanon previously on my blog but I’m too lazy to look up the link.  

One of the arguments my “secret admirer” tried to make about how my fic “contradicts canon” is that “Well, Panther can’t be Cerinian because the Star Fox Adventures manual says that Krystal is the sole survivor.” (and then they made a hate fic about how my headcanon of Panther being Cerinian couldn’t possibly work, but that’s a story for another time).

Admittingly, I hadn’t looked at the manual in most of a decade, so that little tidbit escaped my memory.  But honestly, with Cerinian OCs flying around left and right in the fandom, I thought it was an odd piece of info to nitpick about.  Regardless, it sparked some intrigue, so I decided to poke around the internet and lo and behold, I found a PDF copy of the manual.  Since it’s been a long while since the last time I read the manual, I decided to do an analysis on it.  Analysis with pictures under the cut!

This is the “prologue” of Star Fox Adventures and while it’s all good and dandy, I want to point out three very important things-- 1. Peppy retired at this point, not after Krystal showed up. I mean, this is relatively minor but I thought it was noteworthy that our Barrel-Roll Loving Team Dad was already going to be retired before the “next SF game”-- whatever that would have been, though I’m fairly certain Assault’s development launched right at the heels of Adventures, if not while Adventures was in late development still. 2. Slippy apparently traded in his pilot’s wings to become a mechanic, which is... blatantly ignored in both Assault and Command because while he does mechanic-like stuff (playing off of his role as the “team smartie pants”), he still very much is a pilot. 3. Falco left because he was bored is only a rumor.  I know “Farewell Beloved Falco” tackles this to a degree. I want to also note that this inspired me to re-read Farewell Beloved Falco on Monday and there’s no real point in the manga that says Falco left because he was bored (I have my own speculation as to why he left but I’ll save that for later).  I find it really odd that the manual says Falco “simply disappeared”, when he very clearly left with great bravado at the end of the manga.  He didn’t vanish into the night or anything, like this would imply.  He said he was going to go solo for a bit and flew off after the Titania Incident.  It... feels like maybe there was a miscommunication here between who was giving the person writing the manual details.

This is the Character Bio page, which, to my secret admirer’s glee, does contain the info that Krystal is the only survivor of Cerinia.  It also name drops Cornerian Weapons R&D, which has also never been heard of before or since this manual. I actually searched excessively for more mentions about this and yielded no results.  Curious.  I had never noticed that and assumed Slippy had just been tinkering on stuff for fun.  Also oof, my heart at ROB being considered a full-fledged SF member.

I’m going to skip over the parts I don’t have any commentary on.  

So it’s pretty clear from the final product that Rareware had no idea what they were doing with the SpellStones.  They clearly absorb magic from the planet to keep the planet from falling apart (which says to me that this is not the planet’s natural state but I’ve talked about that before so I’ll spare you the ramble).  But what was going on with them is really unclear.  I understand that Dinosaur Planet gives a better explanation of the SpellStones but that purpose does not seem to be canon any longer.

The text here implies that Scales has every single SpellStone in his possession (the Queen EarthWalker ALSO states he removed the SpellStones himself).  Yet, when you make it into the game...

(Special note: I found this pic on Google and the file was called “Asshole”, which, tbh isn’t inaccurate but it gave me a chuckle so I thought I’d share it.)

Scales doesn’t possess all of the SpellStones.  Drakor, a mutant in Scales’s army, guards the one at Dragon Rock-- we can assume Scales is responsible for that.  The King RedEye has been fitted with one in his head-- we can assume Scales is responsible for that.  But past that? We find Scales in the CloudRunner Fortress treasury with the first Ocean SpellStone, which he has clearly just found.  And the entire point of DarkIce Mines, the entire reason the SnowHorn are enslaved, is because Scales is looking for the SpellStone.  Which says to me that the SpellStone wasn’t even removed by him.  He wouldn’t have had to enslave the entire tribe to go digging for it otherwise.  He wouldn’t have had to lay siege to CloudRunner Fortress either.

So this entire plot point is absolutely inconsistent to what’s in the manual and even... in the game. What is the reasoning behind this?  Probably the innumerable plot changes during SFAdv’s development.

With the fortunate release of the Dinosaur Planet ROM and the creation of the Warlock Engine by Hugo Peters, a lot has been uncovered in terms of how Dinosaur Planet would have originally looked like.  Dark Ice Mines, for instance, was actually meant to connect via the SnowHorn Wastes (or, Northern Wastes) via a small cave entrance on the other side of the river near where one finds Garunda Te.  The cave still exists in the finalized version of the game but leads to no where.  

However, with Star Fox being added in, I think Rare felt the need to add in things that made the game feel a bit more in line with the Star Fox series.  The planet pieces being torn apart was a way to shove in Arwing sections of the game.  And the devs needed a reason for the change in the planet’s state... and what’s a better throwaway reason than “it’s just magic, bruh”?  So the SpellStones, being focal points in the game’s story, were changed to being part of the reason for the planet falling to pieces. That led to DarkIce Mines, despite having a basically completed map, getting yoinked from the planet’s surface and tossed into space, meaning the entrance was sealed.  The reason for all of this was handwaved into “Oh, Scales did this because he removed the stones” without... the game actually reflecting much of that at all because most of it had been made with a different story in mind.

I think Rare did this hoping that no one would look at the plot too closely but uh oh, that didn’t happen.  And if you need further proof that this was all a bit of an “oopsie” on Rare’s part, you need not look much further than DarkIce Mines once more.  Belina Te has a small throwaway line about how her father hid the SpellStone in the mines.  She says something to the effect of “He didn’t say where he hid it, only that it was somewhere safe” which is code for “Yeah lol I stuck this important object crafted by the gods into the claws of a giant monstrosity but it’s w/e”.  Maybe he was hoping that Galdon would protect it from Scales.  I mean, it’s not a bad thought, really...

But the fact that the game seems to imply Scales has all the stones is still technically wrong.  Now, because I think about these things a little TOO much, here’s my theory as to how this could have technically worked: All the SpellStones are placed in the same spot, you just traverse different routes (The Force Point Temples) to reach that spot. The only way I could see Scales making out with 2 out of 4 SpellStones is that there was a battle between the SharpClaw and the other dinosaurs at the central point where the SpellStones are located and General Scales was only partially successful.  Which could very well be the case, but, unfortunately, the manual and game seem to not act as though this is the case...

tl;dr for that section: This literally makes no sense no matter how you slice it and sure, you can come up for reasons that things ended up this way but ultimately, the game is conflicting with itself about its own story.  But let’s move on.

Apparently atmospheric conditions are so powerful on Sauria that it can interrupt communications, which I thought was a neat lore tidbit.  

So I got 2 things from this tidbit about Saurian.

1. This language is called “relatively new”, even though it’s existed for thousands of years, which feels like a contradiction?  A quick Google search estimates English has been around for 1400 years, to put that into perspective and I think English is considered to be fairly new compared to other languages, but I’m honestly not too terribly learned on that.  Of course, that’s only viewing this through the lens of someone who lives on Earth.  Having a language around in the Lylat System only for “a few thousand years” makes me wonder how long the older languages have existed?  It’s quite possible that a few thousand years isn’t a long lifespan for a language in this universe.  

2. Who were these off-worlders?  And boy do I have theories.

Theory 1. The Krazoa.  They are seemingly the gods to the dinosaurs and speak the same language.  This could mean that they taught the dinosaurs this new language.  It would fit the bill for their portrayal in this game. They are godlike entities, the dinosaurs do revere them... it makes sense.  

Theory 2. The ones who taught the dinosaurs how to talk were the Cerinians. There is mild evidence for this with Krystal understanding Dino Speak without a translator despite being new to the planet (evidenced by the fact the CloudRunner had to explain the Krazoa to her/some dialogue bits about her learning of General Scales/the brief exposition we get about her searching the Lylat System for answers).  You could argue this is due to her telepathy - she could just simply be talking in a way that the dinosaurs can understand but I don’t think Krystal’s telepathy had been firmly established as part of her character at this point (she had the ability to leave telepathic messages onto her staff and she could channel magic into Andross, but her true telepathy powers weren’t really shown until Assault).  Krystal’s staff also seems strangely in-tune with Sauria, which I’ve theorized about previously.  I’m mostly thinking on the Magic Caves that are conveniently scattered on Sauria.  It could be that Cerinians had built the shrines within the Magic Caves to help their descendants out if they ever showed up to Sauria.  So, I guess the tl;dr version is “Maybe the Cerinians had previously been on Sauria and had established the Magic Caves and had taught the dinosaurs their native language?” 

To summarize my thoughts, the manual is a reflection of SFAdv itself- riddled with weird plot inconsistencies that you can almost fudge reasons/logic to cover but some of it feels like stretches for the sake of making plot make sense.  There’s some contradictions in the lore/story but despite that, there’s still interesting tidbits to be found.  

If anything, this booklet kind of validates my feelings from the post I made about canon awhile back.  Not all of the canon makes sense when you nitpick it to death.  When the source material conflicts with itself, you’re not going to win a “this is canon because x and y, etc” because... well... the story itself doesn’t even seem to know what’s canon.

Additionally, canon is something derived partially from people’s own experiences.  Two people can consume the same media and come to different conclusions and that’s fine.  We don’t need to have these tired debates about whose interpretation of canon is better.  We just need people to understand that while their interpretation may fit them but it may not fit everyone.  And that’s why, as I have begun doing Fanon Hot Take posts, I keep that disclaimer up.  I don’t wanna say “My opinion of how to interpret canon/fanon is the best opinion” because that’s stupid. There is no definitive “best” because it’s all subjective.  But people get into their own feelings so much about their interpretations and that’s when we have these debates of “well, my idea is better than yours”.  Then people try to dismantle each other instead of just appreciating the different ideas being brought to the table.  And it’s exhausting.

Frankly, I don’t ever think Panther being Cerinian will be canon.  But Nintendo has not, as of this date, said he’s not.  But that’s my interpretation of his character until Nintendo gives us more to go off of.  And if my interpretation bothers someone enough that they decide to send me harassment over it, then that’s on them.  I will not be apologizing for my interpretations, even if they do go against the grain.  It’s a pity people like that exist, that would rather tear at others than try to just enjoy the content that appeals directly to him but alas, they are not the first person to be like that and they will not be the last.

On a lighter note, while I am still bothered by this person going out of their way to be so spiteful, I want to thank them for inspiring me to look at the text.  It validated my feelings further and it made me realize how stupid the canon debate is.  I actually had a blast going back over this book and re-reading everything.  I hadn’t gotten to lay eyes on this booklet in years!  I really hope I get to do this for other SF games because a lot of these manuals have such hidden gems.

This is the previous Ti anon, and I’d first like to say I apologize for coming off the way I did, as if I just really wanted to be typed as a Ti user; I didn’t mean to and was only experiencing frustration, as Ti was sort of a last resort, but I’m having trouble identifying whether or not I use it. I’ve no idea why, as I usually have no problem seeing it in other people (such as my confirmed INTP friend, who I recognized high Ti in immediately when he thought himself to be an INTJ),

but when it comes to myself my mind is blanking out on whether or not the definitions apply to me. Due to the misunderstanding, I’ll try to be clearer in this ask, so beginning with this, the question: Judging by the following things, do you think I use high Ti or high Fi, or any other judging function for that matter? I’ve narrowed it down to those two, but I’m not a hundred percent sure. I’m asking solely about the judging functions though because I’m nearly a hundred percent sure that I use dominant Ne and inferior Si, so nothing I say will pertain to those two functions (unless, somehow it does and you think I’m mistyped, in which case please feel free to correct me). I’m not at all sure if everything I’m about to list is really helpful, but: 1.) I think aloud, nearly lol the time. I’m constantly thinking while I’m speaking, as my head is far too messy to organize this stuff internally; the only time I ever release a semi-finished product is in writing because I often edit as I go 

2.) When I don’t understand something, I obsess over it. While I can usually still operate on the basis that that thing is true, in the background I will still try to figure it out on my own time. For example, I’ve more or less settled on being an ENTP due to no other types matching as far as I can see, but before I can truly move on, I need to have it confirmed, and I need to understand why. Otherwise I’ll always doubt it. Hence this ask. (The original question still stands though.)

3.) When I was younger, I always considered things on a logical basis, not anything else. My friend would have a problem, and rather than sympathize, I’d tell her how to fix it and expect her to stop being upset. Now, I’ve gotten a lot better at doing that and understanding that just because there’s a seemingly simple solution to me doesn’t mean they won’t still be upset, but I had to work on both considering others’ feelings when making a decision and taking into account their feelings in general communication. 

4.) When I get stressed, I become a control freak. I obsess over small things, and I don’t let anyone do anything because they won’t do it as well as I do, and if I don’t do it well, I’d still rather it be my fault than theirs. This is shown most often when I wait and procrastinate too long on something and then someone offers to help; I almost always have a mini freak out and tell them not to touch anything, and I hate them hovering over my shoulder. 

5.) When upset, esp anger,I’m very dramatic; I explode and then I get over it. Even mild inconveniences often result in me being overdramatic, though I usually recognize I’m being overdramatic and try not to take anything at face value because I know I’m being irrational. I’m pretty open with most of my emotions, excluding sadness, but thats due to mental illness things that I won’t address. My mood fluctuates a lot, and everyone knows it. I can go from apathetic to happy in two seconds flat and will at least squeal.

Also, I’ve an extremely hard time acknowledging my emotions. I’m usually aware of them, but when it comes to acknowledging them, I’ve the bad habit of shoving them to the side until I absolutely have to deal with them, meaning they’re interfering to a point of it being a problem. When I do finally recognize them, I always shoot for the root of the problem and fix it before moving on, which isn’t always as simple as it sounds unfortunately. Wow, okay, that was an extremely long ask,which I also apologize for, but I’m hoping it gave you anything to work off of? If not though, could you at least tell me what to look for when trying to type myself as a Ti user? (If you’ve already done this elsewhere, my bad; I’ve scrolled through various tags of yours [entp, high ti, ti, etc.] and not been able to find one, which would be a mistake on my part.)

This paragraph is before I’ve done any typing and just quickly skimmedbut: if you’re having trouble probably the most significant aspect here is thateven after I’ve explicitly pointed out that your question is not “what is mytype” but rather “please type me as having Ti” the question you asked was still“how do I determine if I have Ti or not” and that’s not really how I type(which is also why you probably didn’t find anything on the blog). I tend notto go by “do I or do I not have this specific function”, but rather “whatfunctions do I seem to have based on this behavior.” Which is also not to saythis is the only way to type but it is the way I do it, so if you’re looking for someone to zero in on Ti I am probably not a good resource for that.

For the actual typing:

Thinking aloud is very associated with Te actually –the act of externalizing one’s thought process. I suppose it could beconsistent with a dominant extroverted perceiving function as well, but I wouldnot associate it with Ti. Editing as you go could be anything. I edit as I go.I suspect it’s just a matter of habit and preference.

Similarly, wanting to figure something out and having asense of curiosity about it isn’t exclusively Ti; most people are curious andmany are extremely curious and never entirely move on from things they couldn’tfigure out; however, I’d associate Ti with being less able to push it to aconcern to be dealt with in the background.

Focusing on the solution and not comfort is more generallytrue of thinkers, and stressing out and becoming very obsessed with control isI’d argue least true of Ti as a higher judging function – stressed Ti userseither tend to get very logically finicky but not controlling, or have emotionaloutbursts. The controlling aspect could be inferior Si but I’d actually expectto see this far more on the Te-Fi axis; either as high Te going into overdrive immediatelyand you leaning on your strengths, or as lower Te in a stress reaction.

Your emotional description is also making me think of highTe more so than anything high Ti to the point that I think it might be worthcontacting your INTP friend and rethinking their type. Many thinkers tend toignore their emotions to an extent but high Ti users tend to be somewhatunaware of them, whereas Te users are more likely to be aware but refuse toprocess, and especially to shove them aside (though to be fair that can just begood old-fashioned coping mechanisms and denial; I completely understand notwanting ot share mental illness information but as you mentioned that may be havingeffects on your emotional state that are not well explained by MBTI.

So: I would look at the Te doms.If you are absolutely positive you have dominant Ne, I would next considerother factors outside of MBTI; while you’re not necessarily a typical ENFP from this ask you do have some separation of expression vs. felt emotions and I wouldn’t rule out a feeling type entirely, especially since you mentioned mental illness may have an influence on some of your behaviors (not because feelers are mentally ill but because there are known factors that might be influencing your behaviors such that you don’t seem like a typical feeler but could still be one).

I’m depressed lately so here some angst for you peeps

Pairing: Tom Holland X Reader

Word Count: 1260 (shortest fic I’ve ever written tbh)

Warnings: Angst. Mentions of sex and alcohol.

In the air lingered a scent that you thought had been gone for weeks. A deep breath in, then out. There was still a stain on the counter where coffee had dripped long ago. Blink away some tears and then breathe in again. He left, like everybody did. Stupid would have been the person who expected him to stay.

Some of his clothes were still scattered around the flat, clothes he left there in his haste to leave. A fight. Some words that shouldn’t have been spoken. It was all it took to destroy something you had thought was indestructible.

You still remembered days of love and laugh, when the sight of his childish smile would send you in a fit of giggles. Now, the thought of those moments were breaking your heart to pieces. The worst part was that he was fine. He had forgotten about you the moment he had left through the door, never once looking back.

You had called after him, you had waited for him to come back. But he never did. So you had watched his life in pictures, hoping someday to meet him on the corner of the street.

Your love for him never faltered. Not one bit. You still woke up in the morning to the thought of his eyes and fell asleep to the thought of his laugh. He was your everything and would be till the end of days. It didn’t help that he was everywhere lately. But you were glad for it. Without that you wouldn’t have heard his voice again or seen him again.

The sound of a ringtone echoed through the cold kitchen. It was pub night. First day of each month you went to the pub with a friend of yours. Today was no exception, even if only the ghost of you was going to go.

Red lipstick and winged eyeliner. A mask, to hide your lightless eyes. Then you were off to go.

The pub was half empty but at the same time seemed so full. You sat at your usual table, drank your usual drink, smiled when you used to laugh and stayed silent when you used to talk.

A voice, a laughter by the door caught your attention. A look over your shoulder was enough to send you down a spiral of pain. The air left your lungs and your mind went blank.

He was there, in all his glory. A bright smile on his lips, a smile that used to be yours. His eyes scanned over the room but didn’t see you. What hurt the most was the arm slung over the girl’s shoulder.

She laughed at something he said in her ear as they sat at the bar.

You were in the corner of the room, in that booth you used to sit in with him. Your initials were carved in the table, hidden underneath a coaster. A bitter memory of a time long gone.

The music was overwhelming and breathing became hard.

You had known this day would come. He wasn’t entitled to you nor you to him, even though your heart was still somewhere in his busy hands on the girl’s thighs.

He looked happier. He really did. Long gone were the tears rolling down his cheeks as he had said it was over. Long gone was the bitterness in his voice when you said you wanted to spend the night with him and him only. Long gone was the flutter of his heart at the sight of you.

Your heart ached. More than it usually did. You needed air, you needed to be gone and to never come back to that place. You needed to remember how it felt to breathe without your lungs burning.

A couple of steps toward the door proved to be a mistake. He was there in front of you, his eyes round with what seemed to be fear at the sight of you. He knew you enough to read through your mask, to see the pain and the tears you cried and the ones you didn’t.

He didn’t stop you as you walked around him and that told enough about the situation between the two of you. And it burned and ached and shattered your heart more than it already was.

Icy cold air hit your face as you stepped outside, an echo of the cold in your heart. When do we stop letting people affect us? When does the love falter? When does the pain go?

Long ago Tom had been your medicine. He had helped you through tough times, saying he was always going to be there with you, through thick and thin, but now he was gone. He was long gone and in the arms of a girl he barely knew, having sex with her as the first light of the day spilled in his room through the shutters of the window.

That’s all you could picture as the sun rose, as you remembered words whispered against your skin back when you were whole, as you remembered the taste of his lips and the sound of his breathing.

How can you let go of someone you love more than you love yourself? You erase them from your life. You block them on social media, you throw their stuff out. So that’s what you did. That’s what you did after nights and nights of insomnia.

But how can you erase your own memory? You drown it. You drown it in alcohol and sex and work. Anything to keep your mind off of the memories. So that’s what you did, and it seemed to work for a while. But love’s not one to be forgotten and a heart cannot stop to love.

You went days without remembering, you went days without thinking of him but then a thing someone said reminded you of him, a picture popped up on your dash and you were forced to watch his smile as he held her in his arms.

We never appreciate what we have when we do have it. We always want more or something different. And now you knew what regret tasted like and you knew what it was like to have to live without your medicine.

And even though you knew years would come and go before you’d forget, you still hoped every day not to be hit by a wave of memories. But the memories were everywhere. They were in that stain on the counter or in that smell lingering in the air. A smell that was long gone but that you still could catch a sniff of whenever you walked home. They were in the clothes you hid in the bottom drawer and in the initials carved in a wooden table. They were everywhere and they were there to stay.

So you embraced them, welcoming them in like old friends. In another life, you would have woken up each day to make new memories, but now the old ones were all that was left. So you relived them each time you closed your eyes at night. Maybe someday they’d be gone but tonight, like every night, they’d hold you as you’d fall asleep.

The middle of the night. A cold night, like all the nights since he left. The sound of your ringtone startled you. A single text lit up the screen.

I’m sorry I left you like I did…

You shut your cellphone and stared at your ceiling for hours, waiting for sleep to come but it never did.
