I've seen some people giving shit to Riot for giving Rakan a skin, with no counterpart for Xayah. To be honest, I think it's not a bad thing. Yeah, they're "lovebirds" and they should have matching skin sets. But it's nice to see that they can also have ideas for them as individuals and not exclusively as a pair. To have them match with every new skin they get would limit the possibilities. So, in my opinion, it's nice to see that Riot does have them match with certain skins, but also gives them individual ones.

Man I improved a lot in a year... I spent so much time on the line art it’s crazy. I am not ready for highlights and shadows just yet.

XAYAH’S CRUMBLING HOPE

and why senna, sera, and orianna are important plus the evolution of xayah’s friendship with them ( to a degree )

lets start with a brief look at the first vlog by sera.  xayah isn’t in it much.  there’s the impression that she might have formed the team, but she isn’t entirely involved with them much deeper.  she trains with them, leads them, but she’s a bit detached.  her focus is on rakan.  in fact, she’s in her star guardian uniform for the little bit we see of her despite sera not being so.

xayah’s focus is on rakan and being ready to fight and find him.  while she certainly isn’t antagonistic to the others or ignoring them, forming a camaraderie is limited.  working together, fighting... those seem about her current lengths.  but this is also when xayah’s hope seems to be highest.  we saw her with hope in the comics, and this first vlog follows that.  when sera is questioning, xayah is supportive, firm, and remindful of feeling confident in her choices.

this is followed by orianna’s vlog.  i actually don’t think this one takes too much later than the previous based off in-game information, but don’t hold me to that.  regardless, xayah is still somewhat distant.  we see her twice, the first time fighting with the others, and the second time at the end, checking in on ori.  and even then, she doesn’t stick around too long, making her departure at the end ( though partially due to her mood, as well, most likely ).  she isn’t there for orianna’s dancing or helping to fix tocker...  she might care more, but she doesn’t seem to be going too far out of her way to be with them.

she is out of her uniform, however, though her hair still resembles her powered up state than her normal.  so she might still be sitting on the edge of ready to fight, concentrated mostly on her task rather than school or the like.

we also get the first glimpse that her hope is waning.  when ori states that she is starting to believe anything can be fixed with a little help, xayah’s confidence is despondent in return.  “i hope you’re right.”  this is probably the first moment we see her questioning if she can do this.  and seeming uneasy.  she’s breaking a little, and part of that is probably due to feeling alone.  she still isn’t entirely incorporating with her team and she is still spiteful to ahri and sarah ( and neeko but rip her ig ).  time is passing, and they’re not any closer.  in fact, it feels like rakan is getting further.

finally in today’s vlog...  now, xayah is still not fully connecting with her team.  but i think she’s trying.  she’s outside the door listening most likely because she was going to come in to hang out and be with them... but when she heard the conversation at hand, she had to stop.  and it broke her.  her life is playing out like a book senna’s reading but... what if she doesn’t find the happy ending?

the others have to follow her out into the cold... it’s snowing.  a show of time certainly having passed, as the first two vlogs were sunshine and... probably warmer weather or at least fall at the latest.  it’s now their turn to support her and bring her confidence, because it’s been too long, it’s been too hard.  xayah’s hope was falling apart, and she was finally turning to her team for support and company.  and they’re there when she needs it.

and xayah finally addresses that it doesn’t have to be just her saving rakan.  she needs help, she needs her team, and she is assured enough to say “together” with them at the end.  xayah might be stubborn, grumpy, off putting at times... but she has always had someone for years.  rakan, ahri, sarah, neeko...  and when she thought she ( slash actually was ) was betrayed, it broke her.  friends and family are so important to her.  and i bet getting close to sera, senna, and ori has been somewhat scary for her, because she can’t bear the idea of losing a new family.

but now she needs to accept it in order to regain her hope.
