He's fond of physical touch so he would be soooo happy when you finally initiate some intimacy. It happened after a date. After dates K usually hugs you and kisses you and he planned to do the same this time too. Only if you weren't faster than him. You guys were still talking in his car. Talking about everything and nothing, laughing a lot just like after every date. You felt so happy with him, so.... in love. You just felt a sudden urge to kiss him so you did it. It caught him off guard but when you tried to pull a way he chased after your lips to capture them again. When you two stopped for air he just smiled at you because he knew it was a big step for you.

Fuma

Your relationship was still fresh, so you didn't have that much intimacy yet. Today you just had a rough day and you couldn't stop yourself from crying. All this while you already settled a date with Fuma, to watch a movie at your place, so you left the door open for him. But as you were crying you lost track of time and the next thing you hear is your boyfriend yelling a loud 'hello' in search of you. You tried to hide you tears but it was no use. He got really worried when he saw you so he sat on the bed, right next to you. The thought of hugging you too crossed his mind, but knowing you're not really into physical touch he wasn't sure if it was okay when you're in this state. He did try to calm you down by saying "it's okay to cry" and "you can tell me if you want to". But suddenly you just asked "Fuma, can I hug you?" He nodded with a soft smile, hoping he can make you feel better.

Nicholas

He understands why you don't like skinship that much (no he doesn't cuz why would you resist warm hugs, but he tries his best). Despite that, he initiates a lots of skinship, but always makes sure that you're okay with it. When you first initiated skinship, it was really sweet. Both of you were sitting on the couch at your place doing nothing together. You looked at him by some sudden urge, just admiring his beauty (cuz come on, he's beautiful) and you lead your gaze to his arm. His perfectly defined arm that is decorated by a scar, something that makes him even more unique. Without thinking you lay your head on his shoulder, this already surprised him. But he definitely wasn't prepared for what came next. You brushed your hand over his scar making a guitar string sound and then you just smiled at him, this act made him laugh so hard you tought you broke him. Then when he finished he just looked at you and said "you're so cute"

It was nothing special honestly. You two were hanging out at his place talking and doing nothing when suddenly you felt hungry. He offered to make both if you sandwiches and you'd be crazy not to accept it. But as he was in the kitchen, making food, he looked so beautiful. Eyes focused on what he was doing and his waist just looked so pretty, so inviting. So you went up behind him and hugged him. It caught him off guard because normally you don't do things like this. In fact, you have never initiated a hug between you too, or with anyone else. He even asked you if you were okay because it's just sooo not like you. You just laughed at his question confirming that you are indeed okay, he just looked really pretty and you couldn't resist.

Yuma

You guys went stargazing together. It was almost midnight and there was nothing around you, the whole environment was quiet and calm. Sometimes you talked, but otherwise you just layed next to each other looking at the sky, making wishes when you saw a shooting star. But you were getting sleepy. You didn't want to fall asleep out in the middle of nowhere but you did want to get into a more comfortable position. You didn't have any pillows though, so you decided to use your boyfriend as a pillow. More specifically, your boyfriend's chest. As soon as you laid your head on it, you could hear a soft laugh coming out of Yuma. "I knew you wouldn't be able to hold yourself back from touching me for long" he said between laughs, but this playful statement of his earned him a soft slap from you.

He's shy. Like VERY shy. So I feel like it would be really awkward for a while with him. It would be just hugs and pecks on the lips for a long time because neither of you was brave enough to initiate more. And even those hugs and pecks were started by him. He even felt a little worried that you don't actually want to be with him. But one day on your date you felt courageous so you decided it was time to finally do something. It was a movie date when you came out from the cinema you guys still had some of your shared popcorn. You guys were talking about the move you just saw while you ate all the remaining popcorn. And by 'you' I mean you alone. When you realised there's no more left you just looked at him and suddenly kissed him. It was a longer kiss, but all soft. Then you said "sorry, I thought you deserve something since I ate all the popcorn". But he didn't even think about that, he was busy becoming a tomato.

Harua

It takes him time to start initiating intimacy too, so he understands you. Still he was the first one to initiate holding hands, hugging and kissing. You were comfortable with it, you just didn't know how to initiate these kinds of things. One time you and your boyfriend went to the nearby coffee shop for a date. You were waiting and finally your lattes arrived. You guys were chatting nicely and your boyfriend started to drink his coffee, but the cream stayed on his lips. That seemingly stayed unnoticed by Harua. You were thinking about how to tell him that he has some cream on his lips when suddenly you had a better idea. So while he was telling you about a cat he met the other day you just leaned in and kissed him. The action took him by surprise because you have never been so straightforward about a kiss before, but he had to admit that it was really cute. (It's so cliché I'm sorry sksksk)

Taki

He seems like his love language is physical touch. So it was a little hard for him to get used to the fact, that you're not really into it. Even when you two end up cuddling or kissing or just hugging, it is always him who initiates it. So the first time you hugged him he got so happy, he ended up picking you up and spinning you with that adorable smile of his on his face. After he put you down he would apologise in case that action was too much for you. When you tell him that it was okay and he's really cute and even hug him again he just carries you to the couch or bed (whichever is closer) and you two end up cuddling for hours.

Maki

I think his love language is physical touch. It would probably be hard for him to completely understand how you're not really into touching and stuff. He might end up starting to initiate less skinship because he wants to respect your boundaries. But you wanted to cuddle him, wanted to kiss him you just didn't know how you should start it. Once you were at his place, watching a movie. You just left for more snacks and when you came back you thought that now is a good time to cuddle him. So when you went back to the couch you put the snacks on his lap and then sat close to him, close enough to be able to lay your head on his shoulder. Maki, noticing your intention, put his arm around you and you guys just continued to watch the movie, but your boyfriend felt exceptionally happy just from your small gesture.

that's a really interesting take tbh! ive actually never considered he was serious about her in the sense of marrying - but of course this is purely based off the vibes I get and is entirely my own view.

one of the reasons i say this is because luke doesn't seem too inclined to keep a completely friendly distance between himself and nic - i heard that the QC leads india and corey were shipped really hard by fans as well and he had a gf during the whole press run - and towards the end india and corey started posing separately on carpets (i.e. no touching, no friendly hand around shoulder even during photos etc) because they wanted to emphasise that they were really just friends.

luke in contrast seems to have no qualms about blurring lines - and one of the reasons the more rabid fans kept insulting Antonia was a direct result of the fact that he kept stating his "single" status to press. I think he could have helped Antonia avoid a lot of the flak she drew by just stating that he's seeing someone. but maybe he felt it would draw even more attention to his private life and her? idk. i don't want to puzzle over his motivations because I don't believe they are too complex - I've said this many times before and I'll keep saying it - no matter how good a man seems (and I do believe Luke is very good and sweet), trying to justify anything they do is still a sure path to disappointment.

more importantly: please don't feel dumb for falling for the hope that nic and luke could be together! i really don't think they were being deliberately disingenuous - i actually think the opposite - i think they themselves are often confused about what they really are and it's just easier to define it as being great friends. it's strange but i get the feeling that they see each other as a source of potential - it's simultaneously impossible and also the easiest thing in the world for them to envision a reality where they're together - there just seems to be many barriers to it happening for real. they're comfortable living in the liminal space between great friendship and great romantic love - it definitely explains why nic said she doesn't have a relationship in her life that's anything close to what she has with luke. I think there just needs to be a decisive push for them to ever move out of this grey area. it'll have to be something massive for it to ever happen... and it's not something I hold out hope for (again, just to avoid disappointment!)

this got really long; I wish nic and luke all the best and I think they have something very special with each other. I think life has many many stops along the way and I don't think luke has found a final stop in his romantic journey with antonia - they are both very young and they don't have the vibe of "together forever" couples - if they did (since luke is such a big believer in love at first sight) - he'd have laid down a commitment a lot sooner.

my take on teenage raz and lili!

some design notes under the cut:

They're intended to be about 16 here! I didn't go for anything too drastic in terms of changes -- these are largely just what I'd consider natural evolutions of their canon designs

For Raz, my main focus besides just making him look older was to add a bit more resemblance to the other Aquatos in his design, since his relationship with them wouldn't be strained like it is during canon

Raz is shown with very straight hair in canon, but since most of his family's hair is more wavy or curly I tend to imagine he styles it that way on purpose as part of his Sasha Nein cosplay or whatever. He wouldn't still feel the need to do that at this point, though, so for this design I wanted to make it more curly, similar to Augustus or Frazie, while still similar to his canon style. This turned out to be incredibly difficult and I'm still not entirely happy with where I landed, but it's good enough

I didn't think he would still wear the helmet but I didn't want to discard it entirely, so the goggles were a compromise. I meant to give them some visible scratches and wear and tear since they're presumably the same goggles he's been wearing since he was 10, but I forgot. rip

Obviously the most notable change to Raz's outfit is the scarf -- I wanted something that would tie him visually to the other Aquatos while still fitting with his general look. I imagine they gave it to him as a gift, sort of an acknowledgement that even if he doesn't perform with them as an acrobat, doing his Psychonaut work is his own way of being an Aquato

Raz's outfit here is honestly very similar to his PN2 outfit. This is because in my eyes "long coat and turtleneck" is Peak Character Design and cannot be improved on. (Hence why I may not be the best person to redesign Raz.) He has an actual coat rather than just an oversized blazer this time though, so that's an improvement. With the turtleneck I was was vaguely intending for it to be color-wise something of a middle ground between the Sasha-style green striped turtleneck and the Aquato blue/green and white stripes, but it ended up basically just being the PN1 stripes with the PN2 color. which, you know, that works

I went back and forth on what their heights should be -- I thought it would be kind of funny if Raz ended up short and Lili ended up taller than him, but then I decided to just make them more in line with their families, with Raz being tall and lanky and Lili being average verging on short. Except then I accidentally made Lili tall anyway because I was only vaguely considering her height relative to Raz. I guess Lili's probably taller than her dad now? good for her ig

Most of their facial features are just slight variations of how they look in canon -- slightly smaller eyes and so on. the only real specific change is that Lili has a more defined nose now, similar in shape to her father's

Lili's outfit here is more different from either of her canon outfits than Raz's is, but there's still not much that really requires a ton of explanation. The goal was to make her look vaguely cool and fashionable, although as I am neither of those things I cannot guarantee I was successful

I tried a couple different hairstyles for Lili, and I'm still not entirely set on this one -- Originally what I settled on was to give her two braids, which I did like, but I kept doing sketches of her where I just drew the top part of the hair and was like "ngl this kind of works on its own" and so I ended up going with the short hair. I also briefly tried an asymmetrical haircut but I couldn't get it to look right. I think this one suits her though

Lili's tattoo (on her left wrist) was a later addition to the design, and even in the later stages of drawing this I wasn't sure whether to keep it. I like it conceptually I just haven't figured out a consistent design for it yet, only that it has to be of plants

this is something I’ve said about h*td too but I really don’t think that writers and fans understand how fictional monarchies work anymore.

sjm has created a high fantasy absolute monarchy where the title is passed on genetically through magic, but fails to actually like….think about the consequences of that. absolute monarchs don’t answer to anyone, there is no council they have to get approval from or send out a vote on matters of state or anything like that- law is whatever they say it is, the monarch might have advisors but the final decision is always theirs.

which of course brings us back to the night court because unfortunately we spend the most time there. I’m not saying anything no one else has said but the night court is not run like a true (fantasy) monarchy. not with the way illyria and the hewn city are treated, the hewn city especially actually because how can rhysand still call himself high lord when he explicitly lets the hew city govern itself up until he needs something from them?

rhys even mentions at one point he either dismissed all his fathers courtiers or they left (I don’t remember which, it was tamlin’s thing first) and then he installed the ic in their places. but then doesn’t actually….do anything after that. well okay he does do one thing- bitch and moan. and that’s annoying.

western media (american media especially) has shifted imo into this cultural need to force everything they read/watch/consume through a narrow modern lens that just doesn’t fit well with this pretty well defined fantasy trope and you can see it reflected in the absolute vitriol people will spew in regards to h*td specifically. this is an acotar post I swear but to tangent for a second: the team black/team green divide is, again imo, largely based in the fact people aren’t thinking of politics when they’re watching the show- they’re more focused on having a good time and liking the characters. and a large, large percentage of people watching the show aren’t book readers and don’t understand that fire and blood is a piece of propaganda written long after all the events it’s talking about have happened. that doesn’t translate well to tv. and the showrunners hopefully know that and that’s why they’re taking the show in the direction they are (not that I like it, I’m team black and they’re even isolating me with the shit they’re pulling).

bringing this back to acotar though, you can tell this… irreverence ig is the best word for it, for monarchs right from the first chapters of maf and feyre’s complete disinterest and disdain for the role of Lady of Spring. yes it’s also due to her very recent trauma, and I do think it would have been best for everyone if they’d waited longer to marry, but feyre desperately doesn’t want political power and views tamlin’s incredibly mild and indulgent exercise of it through the tithe as morally reprehensible but finds the taxes of the night court as fine and good even though they’re the same thing in the end. one is a direct and obvious example of monarchical power- tamlin and feyre had to physically be there to collect the tithes- while the other is more subtle and not as harsh sounding and more palatable to the modern reader because just like irl it’s (presumably) an automated and invisible process.

feyre and rhys don’t have to engage with politics in the night court if they don’t want to, and overwhelmingly they don’t. they’re perfectly happy hiding away in velaris and leaving illyria and the hewn city to their own devices until it benefits them and even in velaris they have the city governors actually running things. at best feyre and rhys are figureheads and at worst they’re puppets.

for a world designed to need the high lords, they’re surprisingly irrelevant. high lords and their magic could just as easily be replaced with Some Guy and nothing would inherently change except the name were ostensibly supposed to remember as Important (I cannot tell you how many times I’ve have to look up kallias thesan’s names). high lords don’t really do anything and I’m sure that’s just the failings of sjm as a writer but it also makes the world supremely unserious. there’s no weight to the power they have, it’s just some words we as the audience are supposed to find significant because they would like they would be Important People irl with a title like that.

I’m starting to ramble now but hopefully this makes sense; I’ve got a lot of opinions on the politics of acotar obviously and it’s getting really tiring seeing people say that fictional monarchies are bad just because they’re monarchies and that everyone should just switch to democracy when it could be fun to have a monarch instead.

《Summary 》: You were known for being shy and akward, but polite nonetheless and being a village simpleton. Not incredibly pretty, nor talented at anything, so how come you snagged a Hashira?

Rengoku Kyojuro:

It was a wonder to say the least. Your parents had already given up the thought of ever seeing you married, but the man with the colourful hair saved them that sadness.

You had met him a few times, the first time was when he saved the village and a few times after, though you weren't sure if that was enough to consider you a possible bride.

But since you liked him there was a marriage and you swore by god, you were the happiest girl alive. Kyojuro really did love you you sometimes couldn't help but wonder why?

Your food was not the best not the worst and you knew that he in general enjoyed every bite of food, so it wasn't that. It wasn't your art, most definitely not, it wasn't like you were horrible at it, but you also weren't good and everytime you passed a mirror you were reminded why it also couldn't be your appearance.

You dropped the knife you were holding with a long sigh. You made dinner like always and waited for your husband to return, he had been on a mission for a few days now and you were starting to get worried. You decide to stop cooking for a minute and just stare at the wooden wall in front of you.

"Come here my love! It is raining! I don't want you to catch a cold."

You had decided to eat outside with him that day and it just began pouring. Your husband had just laughed using his white Cape(?) to shield you from the rain. Both of you had sprinted back to the house, accidentally forgetting the food outside.

It was one of many, many happy memories you shared with him, but all of it was tinted grey at the moment you realised he probably only married you out of pity. He never made you feel that way, but there was no better explanation to why he would take you as his bride.

Tears start dropping out of your eyes and a sob escaped your mouth. You turned towards the window, only to realise you also looked ugly when you were crying.

You didn't know how long you just sat there, staring at the table, watching your tears fall onto the wooden surface, as the door suddenly opens. You knew who it was without even having to see him, immediately you stand up ready to greet him. "[NAME]?" His loud voice boomed through the whole house.

You were about to call out to him until you remembered you had cried and still where. You didn't want him to see you like this, you didn't want him to worry about you, or even worse pity you.

You decide to continue cutting vegetables for dinner.

"[Name]? Are you alright?" Kyojuro walks into the kitchen. He couldn't see your face, which was good, but you were also scared of talking. What if your voice gave away you had been crying.

"My love, are you mad at me?" He mutters (loudly), hugging you from behind. You didn't want him to think that. "No..l- no, I'm not angry."

Your voice sounded horrible, just as you had expected. "[Name], have you been crying?" He slowly uses his hand to turn your face towards him.

This was the first time you saw him worried. Usually he was a smiling little ray of sunshine, but now? He looked so sad. "Dear, who made my special wife cry?"

He said special. Normally this wording would have made you laugh, but now the only thing you could say was: "I'm not special."

The silence was deafening, your husband just looked at you as if you were crazy. "What do you mean my love?" You didn't want him to look at you with that reaction, you wanted him to tell you that you were right and that he would leave, but the flame haired man didn't. He clasped your dominant hand and you sigh, wiping your face with the other.

"How I say it... I can't cook, draw, paint or sing. I'm not strong, I don't have any defined personality traits-" You can't continue as you loudly sob, shoulders shaking as you breath in heavily.

Kyojuro doesn't say anything else, pulling you into a hug. "My love, have I ever told you why I married you?" You shake your head slightly. "Than I will know. You might not remember, but after my fight I was terribly injured. Most of the people in your village didn't trust me, so they didn't come closer, but you ignored everything you were doing and rushed towards me, yelling at the people to help me. They listened to you."

He softly runs a hand through your hair/ over your head. "You have the ability to make people trust you, no matter how you act, people will listen to you. You help others and you are willing to use every bit of knowledge you have to make sure someone else is also safe."

You had never noticed that about yourself. Maybe you were too blinded by what you weren't, to see that. He pulls you even closer. "I asked to meet you out of curiosity and as a thank you, I expected you to be humble and quiet but once I asked you about your intrests you rambled about it, you were blooming in what you knew. That was the first time I realised I loved you."

You look up at him. "The first time?" Kyojuro grins his typicall bright smile. "There were a bunch of other times, for example the first time I heard you laugh, or when you accidentally burnt the food, or...."

You couldn't believe it, all those things he pointed out where things you saw as flaws. You look at your husband, how proudly he talked about you. You had fallen in love with him before, but now you were head over heels in a sink hole.

You grab Kyojuros face, he is still talking his eyes closed. You softly pull him closer to you, giving him him a kiss, which he immediately answers by also pulling you closer to him.

You slowly pull away. "I love you, my special husband."

"I love you too, my special husband."

This is riding off the language stuff in sagau but I just cant get it out of my head a reader who uses tumblr slang every once in a while. like they meet the Traveller and they're like "Omg I'm so cheesed to meet you!!" And the Traveller is just like "???" meanwhile Paimon integrates that into her vocabulary. And then maybe at some point, if the reader has a vision they're like "MAIMING AND BITING YOU" "THAT'S IT! I'M SENDING YOU TO EEBY DEEBY!" while their poor teammates are so confused. Just imagine going over to ppl like Razor, Klee, Chongyun and going "Awwww my lil scrunglos"

5 Bestest Besties

I know it's not necessarily a top 5, but I wanna make it one, so let's do it my way bc this is my post and I do as I please.

Number 5: Arm, Pol & Tankhun (Kinnporsche)

Sure, there are some power dynamics in here, but you can't say there's no affection. This trio cares for each other, it's one of the most important things about it. And I love them and their completely bonkers shenanigans, thank you very much.

Number 4: Wandee & Plakao (Wandee Goodday)

Friends who struggle through their romantic life together, stick together. I'd know!

Their dynamic is so healthy and nice and you can see clearly the ways in which they support and help each other. It feels like a true friendship and I commend this series for it.

Number 3: Sand & Nick (Only Friends)

For a series named "Only Friends" there is a HUGE void of friendships. Or, at the very least, good ones.

But while everyone out there is trynna screw each other (over), Sand and Nick remain on the level of friendship pretty solidly.

Sure, they do have flaws, and yes, sometimes they do argue, but overall they support each other and give good advice. Their friendship is true. And I respect that.

Number 2: Ai Di & Zhongyi (Kiseki: Dear to Me)

No one ever went to prison to protect me but, hey, if I had to bet on anyone that would go, it'd be my best friend. Do I think she could do much about the murderers? No, not really, but at least, I'd have moral support. sdksjkdjdk

This is my 1st reason to put Ai Di and Zongyi.

The 2nd tho, is bc of their understanding of each other and subsequent respect for their differences.

If you really think about it Zhongyi and Ai Di do have some things in common but they are, fundamentally, different ppl. Their demeanour is different, their thought process is different, their trauma is different, their response to trauma is different, their morals are different... But, in the end, they understand and respect each other despite all that and find a safe place in one another, regardless. And to me, that is the core of true friendship: understanding.

Number 1: Wei Wuxian & Wen Ning (The Untamed)

It's another case of incredibly different ppl finding each other and finding something they admire in each other and reaching an understanding, even despite each other's mistakes.

Ppl talk a lot about Wangxian and devotion but they overlook Wen Ning and Wei Wuxian and their devotion to each other: their unbreakable belief in the goodness of the other and determination in not giving up on them. Which to me is a huge gap in the fandom bc this is one of the most defining characteristics of their friendship and it not only defines their characters but the story.

hi!! i’ve been meaning to ask u abt this for a while, but the pic u posted of your 2025 journal inspired me to reach out. i would rly like to get back into using a journal as a way to organize, plan, and feel more in control of my life. i used to use a bullet journal throughout high school and college. but my situation is different now (no classes or defined work schedule) and i remember often having a hard time keeping up with it + missing a day or two and then just falling off. i also tend to be a perfectionist and get stressed out abt making The Perfect layout. ig i’m just wondering if you have any tips or advice for getting started again and figuring out a setup that feels good + manageable? i’d send this as a message but i feel this might be helpful for other ppl too. ty!!!

(rubs hands together) ty for asking >:3 i was in your boat too for a while, and what a lot of bullet journalers tend to understandably forget is that the bullet journal system is customizable and flexible. what this also means is that you can frankenstein the bullet journal method and create your system made up of sewn together components of various other methods.

if your primary goal with your notebook is feel more in control and present in your life, then it's important to view it as a second brain. it is reasonable to believe that not all brains work alike. when combining both thoughts, you can start to see the reason why many people who try the bullet journal method are unable to keep it up long-term. they try to be too rigid with the method. they expect themselves to create artsy complicated layouts that aren't actually conducive to their brain. they need to have the same notebook as other people, the same pens, the same supplies.

but each of our minds work differently. when you believe that, then it becomes easier to accept that your notebook does not have to look the same as others to be successful. you aren't failing because you're unable to work with the system the way others do. it is the current system failing you, and that simply means it's time to tweak it and change it as necessary until it becomes more compatible with your brain. maybe the size of the notebook is the problem. or the type of paper. for example: i find that tall and skinny notebooks like the traveler's notebook work best for me. but maybe you prefer big a4 sized notebooks. i also refuse to work on anything that isn't grid paper. but maybe lined paper works better for you.

for me, i use my notebook as a writer the way an artist keeps a sketchbook.

that means i don't play with the layouts unless it serves me. my creativity is expressed solely in the pages i want to be creative in, like when i'm writing fiction or sketching storyboards, but i am intentionally not creative and artistic in the basic setup.

for the basic setup, i'm using a hybrid system of the basic bullet journal method and the life hacker. my intentions are to be mindful of the goals i want to achieve and keep some memory of each day. otherwise it feels as though the month has gone on without me and before i know it, it's the next month and i remember nothing of the past few weeks.

i make sure to keep an index on the back of my notebook. i write down page numbers of pages i want to refer back to later.

i start with a "one line a day" page:

that way, if i miss a few days, i can always try to catch up and write down a single line of what i remembered that day. i also tell myself it's okay to write "i don't remember what happened" on days where that happens. in a way, that also indicates something about that day - usually that i was too depressed to engage with my interests, and that's important to log.

then i set up a basic monthly spread to track upcoming events, bills to pay, habits, tasks i want to do that month, and goals i want to achieve. i also added a d20 roll every day just for fun. if i really need the guidance, whatever i rolled that day determines how i go about with my day.

i also don't really treat it like a chore. i miss days here and there, but when that happens i just set the next day up and move on. this notebook is meant to serve me, not the other way around!

this notebook also serves as my commonplace book. if you've seen me occasionally tag posts as #commonplace, that's me saving posts to write down in my notebook. i love to save advice i appreciated, quotes that resonate with me, and other bits and bobs of information i'd want to re-read in the future.

i also like to write down my thoughts on topics that interest me. it actually is one of my biggest passions and special interests: optimizing a notebook system for myself and helping others find their system. so if you flipped through my current notebook, you'll find rambles about notebook systems and how simply following trends is ineffective.

watching inside no. 9 and those guys are really good actors fr. like take rs as the douchey hedge fund husband in kid/nap. it's not a showy part but he's nailing it, every movement / line / expression is funny & recognisable & characterful. easily the highlight of the ep. and i have not seen him play that character before! you know? after doing that show for years he was still pulling out whole new characters. he has the range okay he has the range. or take sp in the best actress committee episode. again, not a flashy part or anything. potentially the generic dude in an ensemble cast of heightened archetypical characters. but sp makes him so funny and memorable by making him really cheerful and friendly. which shouldn't work but it really does. the way he says "it is! it is a real word! :D" slays me

if i had to choose sp's best performance that i've seen so far, idk what i'd choose but i would instinctively gravitate to love's great adventure. i feel it may be the epitome of what he does best, which is arguably the opposite of what rs does best.* which is theoretically what you want in a double act, right? you can see some potential versions of this very loosely defined contrast on display in e.g. bernie clifton or misdirection, say. if they wanted to repeatedly fall back on an easy double act dynamic, they could slip into their roles from quiet night in or bernie clifton so comfortably every time. but the point is that they can both do both. they can both do just about everything. and they do! they both play every type of character & relationship & power dynamic you can imagine, and they never truly repeat themselves. fascinating double act behaviour. that's what not getting typecast looks like ig

This is such an interesting question but thank god for the tone indicators because for a moment there I thought I was genuinely being attacked for liking An Shiraishi. Sorry I'm going to An Shiraishi jail /j

On a more serious note... I guess I kind of just do like her. I think her writing is decently good if massively underappreciated - she's not a masterpiece of a character as I'd consider some other PJSK guys to be (namely Ena, Mafuyu, Emu and Rui) and the writers tripped over their own leg more than once with her with some arcs still being... In a kind of limbo with her now, but she has decent depth to her. An tackles the topics of insecurity in her own skills and also berates herself for feeling a certain way, very consistently, she is often self-deprecating and has her self-esteem knocked down more and more as the plot goes on - it's fun to watch her show all of this while also being by every outsider's admission one of the most lively, determined, easy-going, friendly and competent characters.

What goes on inside An's head and what she actually shows outwardly are often completely different things, and she is reserved and and secretive in some circumstances while also being open and communicative in others - it's just... Fascinating, combined with all the issues above. And we know that in most cases it's not even about necessarily being secretively by nature, An is just absolutely the kind of person to put off resolving the problem until she literally can't anymore. Which isn't a unique thing in pjsk, and there are many more characters that like just putting the whole thing aside for the moment because they don't want to deal with Feelings and Vulnerability (from the top of my head: Rui, Mizuki, Touya, partially Saki?) or are just so convicted they can't change anything by opening up to people anyway so they don't (Emu, early Honami ig?), but it takes an An Shiraishi to know her only way forward lied into confronting her feelings & the reason behind them & openly acknowledge that and then actively avoid doing so, for months, because she was scared, while also hating on herself for being scared. And I think that's like. Really cool because of the Anhane role reversal. Like you would never expect to see An in that position when you read main story of early vbs events. How interesting is that?

There's also themes community & family & trust & rivalry & loneliness and isolation with her; just like... A lot. Most of it isn't shown directly, but she is a lot.

An is a character best seen in the contrast with other and she really shines with VBS to be honest. I don't think you can tear An away from her backstory and relationships with people in her life and still have a solid character because she is defined by her life circumstances, which is right up my alley of "oooh I'm gonna blorbo this guy badly".

Tl;dr:

I just like her writing tbh. She's fun to toss around, but it's also definitely contributed by Jiena's voice acting and her generally nice design. I wouldn't like her as much if not both of these factors.

As for the opposites attract: I do generally tend to like extremely skilled characters that struggle with finding someone at their level regardless of if they share that genki girl personality, so I don't think it's that. I really like shounen guys. Can you tell.

That said if An Shiraishi was real I'd Not want to be near her lol. I'm an extreme introvert that generally doesn't like interacting with people and I feel like her presence alone would be overwhelming.

Do you know how stop obsessing over calories (look at pictures of food and watch videos of people in hospital) easier than "Just Start Eating More"? Every person says "Well, eat more and you will not think of it so much". I am not from U.S and harm reduction is not even in my language. Doctors here do not know this concept and it is thought "You do not eat so now you are sick. Go to the hospital or eat with parents". I learn about harm reduction on Tumblr and forums but I do not find an answer to make it easier. Maybe it does not be easier. If this is so, I understand, but I think of it often.

Oy. If I had a fix for calories, you can bet i'd be screaming it from the rooftops. that said, I have gotten to a place where I can look at food a Normal Amount and not watch those awful before & afters and the like, so i'm including below a few recs that don't involve (for example) eating more, decreasing activity, and other traditional 'recovery' methods.

find a new, niche/weird thing to watch videos about. seriously. get obsessed with some hobby or subculture and fill your ig, etc. feed with those! i went through a phase where i'd just watch flight attendant vlogs. i also love "draw/paint/package things with me" videos. Ideally, these would be videos where the person's body wasn't constantly centered.

relatedly - when i was really fixated on peoples' hospital stays and bodies and tubes and stuff, it was because i was lonely. i was desperate for someone who actually shared this experience with me, because i hadn't processed it yet. the best way to address this takes time, but is very worth it: make friends. irl and online. make friends with people who have shared experiences and are good listeners, but are also fun to talk to about other things.

if you do want to keep watching videos about food, you can reduce harm by watching people who promote positive and curious relationships with food! emmymadeinjapan on youtube is one example of this. the baker Erin McDowell is another.

forgive yourself, and make space for doing things partway + in grey areas. this was. like. the hardest thing for me: i spent so much time early on either eating everything on my plate or, if one element was too scary, eating none of it. this isn't a realistic way to approach anything in life! i don't know how old you are or how much of your diet you currently control, but if you are able to decide what's on your plate, make it a mix of things you know you can eat and things you're not sure about.

or, build in a time of day where you try a new snack, even if you aren't able to do it every time. the point is creating new habits -- habits in which you give yourself permission to eat. not because you are required to, but because you have important and meaningful things to do with your life + you need to eat in order to be alive for them!

honestly, there's only so much advice I can give beyond simply gritting your teeth and Doing the Thing. it fucking sucks, and it hurts, but it's much easier when you have warm people in your life who understand, and ways of entertaining yourself that are attendant to your experience but not completely mired in it. this is an important reminder that you're a regular person who can have a variety of regular interests! this is a part of you, but it does not wholly define you, and you have a whole life to live and relationships + hobbies to explore beyond this focus on calories + institutions.

SH’s photo is from July 2021 in La Capilla Tequila-Jalisco. The UK government in 2021 told people not to travel to "green list" countries (Mexico) except for essential reasons. His travel was not essential. For him, and his friends all travel is essential. A tourist who believed that travel restrictions did not apply to him in Mexico.

On the other hand, an idiot is someone whose thought flow is blocked by his Ego / Superiority, flow is not only blocked but cannot change. Due to his behaviour, he cannot change himself due to ignorance. It is very difficult to recover from this state for a given individual. That’s what Dunning–Kruger effect.

I feel bad for her. I feel some level of "detached empathy" for my sibling as well because I know what it's like to be in deep emotional turmoil, but even so, it's no excuse for treating her that way and I hope she will set some strong boundaries going forward. I also sincerely hope that my sibling will get therapy one day because I know it sure as heck helped me resolve a lot of shit that was keeping me stuck and hurting the people around me. Trouble is...and this is just my assumption...but I don't think they see anything wrong with their behavior. Everyone else is the problem.
