So what's got me curious here is that this is during a period where it's implied later that Daniel was already staying with Marius and Armand doesn't seem to know that. It makes me wonder if Armand believes Daniel is still out there screwing around and Marius, perhaps having initially planned to explain where Armand's only fledgling was after he almost died, had a rare moment of clarity that Daniel and Armand in their respective mental places would make things worse for each other and just doesn't tell him. Instead he looks for what seems to make him happy at that moment - Benji and Sybelle - and thinks right, yep, if I make them then he can be within their minds and companionship and thus be happy forever.

Which begs the question of when did Armand realise where Daniel was? Did he just decide to avoid the topic entirely as he is very good at? Did someone else have to raise the point or did he make a comment around someone who knew Daniel had his breakdown and now lives with Marius? Because either way way, add this to the scenes we were robbed of in canon.

One of the absolute dumbest reasons I see given in fantasy stories is that "we have to keep magic a secret bc otherwise normal humans will freak out and panic and riot!" Okay so I’m going straight into where I left off so if you don’t know what this is it’s the second half of an equally as long post. I’m sorry it’s insanely long but this isn’t going make any sense without the reading the first half. Now back into overthinking:

“All the pin ups in magazines. Movie stars on the silver screen. They'll do anything for me. Can't you see?” this is such a weird line within the context of the show ngl. BUT moving on, the pin up magazine and movie star reference could be about how cool, movie-like his life is now, Sarah, his in show love interest, a vampire. His best friend is a wizard (and in this post another love interest following the usual love triangle within movies/theses kind of stories). But also this could be about how Ethan sees Sarah as pretty as a movie star?? Following that line with “They’ll do anything for me” again Benny and Sarah would do anything for Ethan, Sarah became a full vampire to save him. Benny does whatever he can to help and protect him constantly. They both care a lot for him and do whatever for him. Ethan more or less knows this. This line is about both of them adding “Can’t you see” fits into the bisexual thing as well, he could be asking himself if he sees that and maybe even if he can see/acknowledge his own feelings about them and his bisexuality.

“You can take her home to mom. Cause she's got that small town charm. That comes anytime you want and more” This is only about Sarah and saying look at how perfect she is as a girlfriend, it’s telling that he should like her even more because he knows she’s a safe pick. He knows he can take her home and the parents will love her, she’s charming but not boring and what society says is the right answer. He knows there isn’t any worry about facing adversaries when dating her unlike dating his male best friend. Or she could be a cover for his feelings for another guy, again him choosing Sarah is his safe option. Him being bisexual means he always has a safe option to date, but is that what he really wants this time? Even if he still likes girls does that mean he wants to only date girls and act like he just doesn’t have strong feelings for Benny, a guy?

“And you know she's your biggest fan. Cause she'll cancel all her plans. Give you everything she can. 'til the end” Like a lot of the lines this is a mix of both Benny and Sarah but I’m thinking it leans more to Benny (it fits the theme that it’s about Ethan being bisexual and last line was mainly about Sarah). Benny is Ethan’s best friend and believes in him more often or tries to help him reach his goals, more so than Sarah at times. (See the wrestling episode for my point on this, although he makes jokes about him losing he still helps). Benny tends to just lean into whatever Ethan is doing, If Ethan wants to crash a vampire party then Benny is going to cancel on pizza movie night and join him. Benny would give Ethan everything, we see that even just Sarah sitting next to Ethan during movie night makes him jealous as well. This part is Ethan acknowledging Benny’s for him and how he feels back.

“‘Til the end” both Benny and Sarah are with Ethan even at the very last second we see them in the show. Neither of them are leaving his side and he knows it, but also there was a point Sarah left Ethan as well. But Benny always stayed with him so while the line fits both, but it again leans into Benny. Ethan is leaning into Benny and wanting to be with Benny more than he does Sarah, but he still can’t pick because he knows both are there for him and both share qualities he admires and wants in a s/o but also because of his bisexuality he doesn’t know who to pick or is maybe even scared too.

“Think I'll take a walk down the road she's on. Maybe now that I think. I'll call her on the phone. Or am I better off alone?” This is where he makes his choice, however, at first it seems he picked Sarah (again we aren’t looking at any use of the pronouns since we know it’s not meant to be viewed in this way) Anyways, like the song says, he’s thinks he should walk down the road to see the person he picked (likely to tell them his feelings), however we know Sarah isn’t a walk away and doesn’t live next door so where is he going that’s close by? To Benny’s but he thinks instead he should play it safe with just a call, if he’s going to admit his feelings why would he think over the phone would be better if he picked Sarah? It’s because he didn’t pick her in the end. We know he’s always for being romantic but this time is different and he doesn’t do it face to face since likely he’s still scared to say he’s into his male best friend. The following line furthers that idea: “Or am I better off alone?” He’s doubting and second guessing himself because of his internal struggle of having feelings for another guy makes it all too real for him but he knows how he feels. Although a part of him still thinks he’s safer just forgetting his feelings and moving on but he won’t.

Then those famous lyrics repeat at the end of the song and the part we are most familiar with hit: “She's the girl next door (girl next door). Nice but naughty, and a heart that's pure. She's the girl next door. Just for me” Sarah isn’t next door. Benny is. With this fact we know in the end Ethan does choose Benny, the boy that’s next door that he knows is good if not a little troublesome but still has a pure heart that he loves and knows that Benny is just for him because as we see throughout the show Benny does love him back as well and creating the resolve to Ethan’s struggle.

So you guys might have seen my rant about the Hotman Vampire, right?

Well it turns out he’s responsible for the deaths of two of his past lovers! 

Lover A got between him and his brother when they were fighting and...(yeah the dot dot dot is basically what the book does)

Lover B he got carried away with drinking her blood, he just couldn’t resist, and then he didn’t want to let her go, so he turned her into a vampire (which she had previously said she DIDN’T WANT to happen) and she committed suicide shortly afterwards!

Lol but don’t worry, his friend reassures him that neither of those things were his responsibility! Lover A chose to try to stop that fight, Lover B chose to commit suicide, it wasn’t related to him!
