okay so i've been working on some hadestown designs on and off for MONTHS and i wasnt planning on posting them until they were all done but i decided to post what i have done to maybe motivate me to finish the rest. so heres the two main couples!! every time i listen to hadestown a little fake production plays in my head so i wanted to get it out into the world. notes under the cut i have a lot to say <3
my orpheus is a butch lesbian idc you cant take this away from me
i'm bringing back the jean jacket from the london production because i love it so much but ALSO because its always bothered me that orpheus is the only human character that doesnt get a jacket for the winter?? it's worn for some scenes in act 1 including wait for me but is gone in act 2. i imagine she lost it at some point during the journey to the underworld, especially because its so hot down there
the idea was that orpheus' clothes are pretty nice (nice slacks, nice shoes) but theyre all worn out. scuffed shoes, baggy knees, holes in the shirt etc etc
patch on the knee matches eurydice's dress <3
i like the idea of eurydice having a bright dress under her huge dark coat. during summer she is happy and opening up to orpheus so her wardrobe changes to reflect that. but on the flip side during winter when her coat is stolen she is forced to bare her raw self to hades
she keeps her headband even in her hades uniform to show shes still holding onto her fading memories and individuality
okay so while i was working on this i came to the realization that i dont really like persephone's dress that much. and then i realized i can do whatever i want.
i referenced a lot of 30's evening gowns. i wanted something poofy and with a lot of movement. not super happy with how i drew the sleeves but its hardddd
theres this one persephone wig that has gray streaks in her hair i loveeee
both dresses of hers would be very shimmery and sparkly. im imagining a lot of subtle texture thats just hard to capture with digital art
i still HATE drawing suits
not a lot to say about hades i didnt stray too far from his established look because its so perfect
OH i added a red pocket square to both match the red back of his vest but also to be evocative of his heart! like under all the layers and walls he still has some feelings lol
#my art#fanart#hadestown#orpheus#orpheus hadestown#eurydice#eurydice hadestown#persephone hadestown#persephone#hades#hades hadestown#realizing i wrote way more abt orpheus than the others#not my fault shes my fav and i have a lot of thoughts about her. for normal reasons.#anyways i NEED yall to hold me accountable for finishing the rest of these designs#because i do really want to

OKAY! It’s time for the Chimera Baby Lore Post!!
🌼 How did you come up with the OC's name?
In both a meta and non-meta sense, Chimera Baby’s name is probably the most notable part about them. The name Chimera Baby is a reference to m-flo and LiSA’s Tripod Baby, ft in the game Shadow the Hedgehog. For over 6 months that was her official non-official name, as I couldn’t decide on a name for her. I received over 15 name suggestions, but in July I ran a poll at which point she was dubbed Mira!
As it turns out, Mira happens to be the name of a binary star system. Two stars in a dance doomed to end in supernova—rather fitting for a chimera character, wouldn’t you say? I like to imagine Shadow was the one to name Mira something meaningful and space-themed like that, meanwhile Sonic named the other child something totally arbitrary (“His name is Mochi because he's white lol”)
On that note, I’ve also decided Sonic calls Mira “Chili” exclusively, because its silly and he would. So Mira, Chimera Baby, CB, and Chili are all names she goes by!
🌸 How old are they? (Or approximate age range)
I like to depict them anywhere from baby to teenager, but in their most recent incarnation I’d say they’re somewhere between 15-17
💖 Do they have any love interest(s)?
At the moment no. She’s generally too aloof and off putting for anyone to approach her with romantic intent, but maybe in the future….
🍓What is their favorite food?
Strawberries and Triangle Chao Fruit
⭐️ What do they do for a living?
💥 Do they have any hobbies?
Besides combat training, CB enjoys the occasional outdoor activity. Sometimes her friends goad her into a game of soccer (which she is an absolute beast at), but she generally prefers solo sports such as archery, rock climbing, or hiking. Sometimes her brother convinces her to fish with him, but she finds it pretty boring (but would never turn him down)
💃 What do they do best?
Mira excels at hand-to-hand combat. As the reigning champion of Chao Karate, Mira takes their martial arts training very seriously. They also possess exemplary control over chaos energy, and incorporates this into their technique. While they may not be as fast as their fathers, they make up for it with not just raw power, but an extremely disciplined technique.
Her skills also happen to make her an amazing breakdancer, but she’ll break your face if you ask her to demonstrate.
☀️ What is one of your OC's best memories?
A tie between making her baby brother laugh for the first time and the time she drew first blood for the first time in a fight with Shadow
🌧️ What is one of your OC's worst memories?
The aftermath of almost drowning as a child after she saved a chao friend.
✍️ Is their current design the first one?
For the most part—I did redesign their shoes because originally they were rocking some McDonalds drip.
💡What originally inspired the OC?
This post i made ^^
Basically its a mix of me poking fun at the phenomena of Sonadow fan-children all looking kinda similar, and this plush reminding me of actual chimerism in animals and wanting to create a character with that characteristic! Over the months my ironic love for her has grown into genuine fondness—so while she remains primarily as a parody, she’s also a character I’m having fun exploring concepts with <3 Much like both Shadow and Sonic the Hedgehog, you can take her as seriously or not seriously as you wish!
👾 What genre do they belong in?
PS1-era graphics Jet Set Radio game
🏳️🌈 What is your OC's gender identity and sexuality?
Non-binary and trans (you decide what direction). And she’s bisexual bc i love bisexuals <3
🍃How many sibling does your OC have?
One little brother Mochi—he is a perfect angel who is also her closest friend. She adores him, but you wouldn’t know from seeing them interact.
⚠️ What is the OC's relationship w/their parents like?
So I mentioned that Mira was reared in a chao garden, where her dads basically only visited once every couple days if not longer (Sonic and Shadow are not very attentive parents, go figure). However, this was honestly a perfectly fine arrangement as I headcanon mobian children don’t need the same level of parental contact as human children (Hell, Cream is kind of an outlier FOR having a present parental figure in her life).
That being said, I imagine Shadow spent more time with her when she was really young before stepping away, which made her really latch onto Shadow more than Sonic during that time. Especially seeing as Sonic is the most laissez-faire parent ever but simultaneously was the type to abandon her on a floating platform in midair with a trail of badniks so she can learn how to homing attack.
Much like her father before her, her latent Black Arms genes have caused her to develop a burning desire to destroy Shadow—a fact that Shadow seems strangely indifferent about. While this fact has pretty much wrecked their previous relationship, there are circumstances where Mira will put aside her goal and work with Shadow against a common enemy or towards a common objective (of course, this doesn’t stop her from trying to stab him in the back during these operations).
Her relationship with Sonic has remained mostly the same, with Sonic treating her much more like a friend or little sister than a daughter. They have lunch together at least once a month, and usually she’ll go to him for advice on any social interaction matter—conversations that have become much more frequent now that she’s begun to make friends.
💗 What do you like most about the OC?
I think I popped off with her design—chimerism is such an interesting concept and I loved balancing her two sets of genes without making it seem too busy. I also love her dynamic of trying to kill Shadow and how you would think her growing up in chao garden basically alone would have contributed to that, but that's not the case at all she’s just like that <3
‼️ Who is your OC's arch-nemesis or rival?
Shadow the Hedgehog is her self-proclaimed nemesis, but she makes a fair share of enemies and rivals wherever she goes due to her punch-first-ask-questions-later attitude. One notable rival is another OC of mine named Sauvik the Badger—another cold and brooding anti-hero much like her. Sauvik and Mochi are something of a team, but being a protective big sister she wants him to stay away from her brother. This generally leads to a fight that Mochi is inevitably forced to break up.
⏰ How long have you had the OC?
She was created in January of 2023!
—
That’s all! Feel free to ask any other questions and remember to vote for her here!

IM GOING TO. ramble about an uty headcanon/theory? now SPOILERS
SO THIS is a drawing in Kanako’s room of what appears to be Axis, its meant to be Axis right! (theres an obvious drawing of Dalv too so she’s drawing other characters and we are meant to assume she knows them)
BUT something that sticks out to me is that the heart on Axis’ chest is upside down! (and there are other slight differences too - no gear, lightbulb, or ear things?)
I love the sibling dynamic Axis and Kanako headcanons and drawings they are like my favourite thing, but if Kanako had met Axis 014, how would she get these details wrong?
These could just be errors in memory or artistic ability, she seems very young after all, BUT THAT ANSWER IS WAY LESS FUN THAN RANDOM SPECULATION!!!!!!!
SO. My little headcanon theory is that this drawing is a design that Kanako came up with for a guard robot that Chujin asked her to draw, then he modelled Axis (014 at the least) off of. Kanako is a young monster who wouldn’t know humans had upward facing souls, and only ever seen/known about monsters downward facing souls, so would draw a heart shape that way (then Chujin changed this when building Axis, for some reason)
There is no *proof* for this other than the idea that Kanako is “gifted like her father too” (which is most likely supposed to be referring to the fact they are boss monsters considering the trailed off “she’s a” following), but I like to imagine its also about a creating/art talent since the accompanying picture of Kanako has her painting the mask. Implying to me that Chujin and Kanako could have drawn/created things together and one day the idea of designing a robot (since it was on Chujin’s mind from the steamworks employee reports and letters) came up.
And THAT is where Axis’ (kind of clunky and strange compared to a more sleek and smooth looking robot like guardener that was being built and designed at the same time, showing the capabilities of robot designs) design comes from (this also could explain why the other robot parts in Chujin’s office look a good bit different to how Axis 014 looks).
There is Also nothing to my memory that strictly DISPROVES this, HOWEVER consider this fun value pillar, the fun value pillars in the dark ruins tell the story of the day the integrity human attacked Dalv, Kanako was there, and Chujin sent Axis (014 as we know from his geno route confession and giving exp) after them, killing them accidentally, right?
And it was Dalv (also known to draw, and was attacked by integrity, and is now in the dark ruins) who is the one who drew on these pillars right? So that implies that Dalv saw what happened (most unlikely because Axis followed integrity to Waterfall), heard what happened (unknown from who) or figured out/imagined what happened. In any case it implies that he saw Axis at least once, enough to draw him (even abstractly like this).
I’ve seen the assumption that Axis was there in Snowdin with Chujin, Kanako, and Dalv, (which is fun to think about i think AND matches dalv seeing/knowing axis) BUT in the first Chujin tape where he discusses the event he says no one was there to protect Kanako, which you'd think Axis would be doing if he was there in Snowdin with them.
But where Axis actually was is more ambiguous. In the secret secret tape Chujin says he “should’ve stayed” implying to me that he left the scene to go get Axis from the Steamworks/his office lab basement/wherever, meaning that Dalv couldn’t have seen Axis on that occasion. I also feel like if Axis was in Snowdin it would have been mentioned at some point by someone.
So this scenario doesn’t explain how Dalv saw Axis to be able to draw him. While if Axis WAS in Snowdin that doesnt explain how Kanako would get so many details wrong drawing him, especially if they spent a lot of time/more than one time together.
FURTHERMORE the pacifist route shows that Ceroba and Axis have never seen eachother before either (Chujin also didn’t add Ceroba to Axis’ authorised list by default, implying he didn’t think they’d ever come across eachother?) So if Chujin had Axis and Kanako meet this had to somehow be without Ceroba knowing At All.
(HOWEVER since Ceroba watched Chujin’s tapes she is lying in some way during the pacifist Steamworks because she would have heard the name “Axis” and found out how Chujin got the Integrity soul, so should know more than she lets on about his robotics projects.)
This also implies that Ceroba hasn’t been in Kanako’s room in a long time, maybe even before Kanako fell down, or she would have seen the Axis drawing on the floor. It makes sense that she would avoid Kanako’s room though.
FOR MY FINAL “HOWEVER” I will say that this raises the question of Why the Axis drawing is still on the floor with a pencil, this kind of implies that it might have been the last/most recent thing that Kanako drew, or had gotten out to look at/add too. If Axis 014 is based off the drawing it would be a long time between the Initial drawing -> Chujin builds and codes 014 -> The Snowdin event -> Chujin experiments and falls down -> Kanako falls down -> the events of the game
BUT even between the Snowdin event (the latest time Kanako could have seen Axis, since after that i imagine Chujin would have kept him fully confined to the Steamworks since he was “dangerous”) and the events of the game thats still quite a long time for the drawing to be sat there, so maybe that doesn’t mean much.
THE EXPLANATION I THOUGHT OF MADE ME SO SAD but i have to include this thought, that after the Snowdin event, and especially with Chujin getting very absorbed in his work then starting to fall down, Kanako would have stopped drawing and just left all of her work around her room, and had the Axis one out as it reminded her of Chujin.
ANYWAY i would LOVE to hear what other people think about all this, its very very possible im missing something obvious im a bit silly, if so please tell me haha. Also i love both possibilities of if Axis was in Snowdin or not AND the sibling Axis and Kanako headcanons… the LAST thing i want is to discourage those hc’s they are so cute.
In any case i just think the *concept* of a scientist who wants to perfect his (so far failed) guard robot to protect people, asking his daughter (the monster who he undoubtedly would want to protect most in the world) to design that robot, then getting so lost in his grand pursuit to protect monsterkind that he fails in nearly every way (leaving Kanako at the scene to try and get Axis to apprehend integrity, Axis’ programming messing up leading to him violently killing integrity, leading then to Chujin experimenting on himself and falling down, then the daughter he wanted to protect most falling down the same way because of the work he left behind) REALLY breaks my heart.

For the ask game
4/5, 8, 25?
HIII I ONLY JUST NOW CHECKED TUMBLR </3
4/5 - about a year ago my parents watched severance and my mom was like You Need To Watch Severance Its So Fucking Good and i put it off for forever but then i was finally like "okay ill watch severance with yall ^_^" and ITS CRAAAAAAZY. i briefly mentioned severance in the irl chat [mainly that lumon industries is deadass just hailsham never let me go but without being weird about sex] but like SEASON 2 IS COMING OUT JANUARY 27 AND ITS GONNA BE CRAAAAAAAAAAZY
8 - game of the yearrrrr game of the year. i cant immediately think of something off the top of my head ........ OH WAIT !! EVERHOOD !!!!!!! its so awesome its so cool. everhood 2 is coming out sometime like. either next year or 2026 i forget. HYPE NONETHELESS !!!!! its so good ive mentioned this one in the server as well. i think you would like it tbh ^_^
25 - hoohoohooooooo ^_^ this is a newer thing .... infodumping helps me figure things out this is AWESOME !!!! alright alright lets go ^_^ putting this under the cut because i have a feeling its gonna be long
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALRIGHT !!!!! these guys came about a month ago. so i was thinking about quarantine queer culture and how like. how do you describe it actually. we were like hyperaware of everything but also we knew Nothing. it was a bit of a shitshow but there were nice memories from it. there was such a Monotony to it but hashtag at least you werent alone in it. so i drew little concepts for the first four but i didnt have anything else. i had the designs and the fact that it was in 2020-2021, but no story.
and then the very next day i remembered. this one concept i made over a year ago. it was basically the world is trapped in a timeloop but only 5 people are aware of it. the reason theyre trapped in a timeloop is because the universe was getting old and ending and so it was like im gonna put everyone in a timeloop so that they dont have to experience it ^_^ and those 5 were the anomalies that kept their memories. and because theyre still kind of aware of everything theyre absorbing the end of the world and hashtag body horror yk. and they gotta stop it somehow. HOWEVER i wasnt attached to the characters and i just kinda Forgor. so then i was like heehee. haha. i could get insane with it. so now the angst goes to them!
i dont have them fleshed out that much yet but heres what i have so far !!!!!!
i only have names for the third fourth and fifth ones [natalie/nat, zoe, moss [probably gonna add another name for them] and i have pronouns for all of them. in order: he/they/it, any pronouns [they/them pref], she/they/fae, she/they, he/they/plant neos, and they/it ^_^
they all have aesthetics, which in order are space[? i guess], alt [especially of the time but like a bit on a budget], artsy[? also i guess], okay wait actually theres no specific aesthetic for zoe because shes closeted and trying to look Normal for her family HGDVFKJN, cottagecore, and dark academia ^_^
originally i had the body horror be based around their aesthetics but now i think its gonna be based around problems with the community at the time. the only thing i have is nat is gonna be like i need the Exact Label that describes me and if i cant figure out what my gender is i will Die Badly [nat is probably the most like me from quarantine HGDLAFKJVN]
the sixth one is probably gonna be plural. i was debating it because like systems were very present in quarantine but also im scared all the time and am like what if i accidentally make them "hi im arson and these are my ten morbillion dsmp alters and also the Evil One". but im convincing myself that hashtag it will be okay i just need to do research and ask around and stuff.
the first one can do tarot readings. just a little bit of trivia that i stole from an old acquaintance of mine back in 2020
AND THATS ALL I HAVE ON EM SO FAR YAYYYYYYYYY ^_^
#noonbeam rambles#noonbeam answers#context on that never let me go thing for others: asker goes to the same school as me and last year in english we read this book called--#--never let me go and it was kinda weird 😭😭😭

Video Games I Played in November 2024
I’m writing this only a few days after the end of the month and I’ve already played a bunch of new games that are etching away at my memories of the stuff earlier in the month. It doesn’t help that November was uniquely prolific with 15 different games started on top of perennials like Helldivers 2 or Picross 3D 2, as well as spillover from October with Sekiro and Twilight Princess. Slow work and high life stress means a whole lotta gaming.
Astral Ascent – I’m starting to think I don’t actually like action roguelites. Maybe it’s overexposure. Maybe it’s that the genre is incestuous and so there’s too little outside influence and far too much churning reiteration of the same concepts. The same boss patterns. The same metaprogression upgrades. Again and again. It’s tiresome, as if some demiurge were doing broadly the same thing over and over hoping this configuration would be a demonstrable improvement over the rest. But in all seriousness I tend to fall off roguelikes pretty hard if I feel like I understand the bulk of the systems early and this one I knew 80% of its deal from looking at how they drew grass.
Ori and the Blind Forest – What can be said of Ori? I played it a few times on release, played the Definitive Edition in 2017, and sat on it since then putting it on the shelf with Hollow Knight and Super Metroid as one of the pinnacles of the genre. Against my better judgment I took it off that shelf. Bash still feels like a dream, and when the game is at its best it’s atmospheric, flowing, and a joy to behold. However the added abilities from the Definitive Edition (a dash and a projectile you can bash off of) completely undermine the game’s flow, and the ending section remains tedious and frustrating. There’s a lot of charm here but time is unkind to works carried mostly by their aesthetics.
Peglin – I like peggle. I like goblins. I tolerate turn-based card battlers. This finally came out of early access so I gave it another go. It’s unfortunately the game that it is. Not much depth, a few too many trap options, and for me it hit a sourspot where the randomness inherent in pachinko was fundamentally undermining my ability to sequence or plan. If there’s no strategy and I’m just hitting buttons, then a roguelike gets frustrating quick because chance is such a huge component.
Rivals of Aether II – I really expected to have more of a fire lit in me by this but I did a few CPU matches, one ranked match, and put the game down. Dunno what’s up. Maybe it’ll be like Lethal League and in a year or three I’ll go fucking bonkers for it for a year.
Kao the Kangaroo (2022) – Mascot platformers are a genre I dabble in, and when one is 5-10 bucks and I’m in the mood it’s hard for me to say no. Unfortunately, the shallow gameplay, oddly stilted voicework (Polish speakers trying to do an Australian accent), and glitchiness undermined what I had hoped to be a few hours of jumping around punching stuff. One of these days I need to try Ty the Tasmanian Tiger or something, I guess. Or I can replay Vexx again.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps – Did you ever have a friend in high school who saw the wrong movie at a formative inflection point and you’re just gonna have to write off their personality for five years while they wildly chase after a version of themselves that isn’t real? The Ori devs did that after playing Hollow Knight. Gone is the atmosphere. Gone is the momentum. In its place you get a fiddly inventory, NPCs, sidequests, and themes that completely undermine the first game. Mechanically it’s much more solid but structurally it’s a bit of a mess and the designs don’t cohere. Taking bash off its own button is a monumental error and that snag cascades through the entire feel of the game.
The Rise of the Golden Idol – I should really finish Obra Dinn. I liked The Case of the Golden Idol well enough, though I felt the DLCs were full of overly complex puzzles whose ambiguity was such that without the solution as a framing device getting an intuition for what had happened was impossible. This game doubles down on that, and oftentimes it felt like some of the shakier Sherlock Holmes mysteries where he pulls a secret clue out of his armpit that resolves everything. It’s not a bad puzzle game but it doesn’t hit the highs of the first game which is a sad spot for a sequel.
UFO 50 – If nothing else this was an extremely efficient way to add bullshit to my steam library that I feel like I should play and then don’t. I tried a half-dozen of them, they’re all very interesting and cool, I like a lot of the concepts at play and the breadth of designs is truly impressive. I just can’t be bothered to filter through several dozen games that are each worthy of 2+ hours of playtime. Good lord.
Voidwrought – Speaking of games that took one look at Hollow Knight then gouged out their eyes… I keep trying indie metroidvanias and for every one that’s actually doing something novel in structure or in presentation there’s three that are slavishly copying Hollow Knight and/or the cultural memory of SotN (which is closer to Aria of Sorrow). None of them are copying Super Metroid wherein enemies are closer to environmental hazards than combat encounters and momentum is a reward for systems mastery and map knowledge. No sir. It’s stats, enemy pogos, and losing resources on death. This one was notable for giving me a projectile I could pogo off of very early, which I used to sequence break the everloving shit out of the intended progression. The end result of this was I did 99% of the game without double jump when you’re supposed to get that in the first few hours, but such is life when living on the edge. The final boss was touhou nonsense with far too much HP and I have learned to just set games aside when they get to that level. Exactly one game’s final boss was interesting and intricate enough to be worth five hours of my life, and that was Nine Sols. Y’all ain’t Nine Sols.
Headlander – Y’ALL DEFINITELY AIN’T NINE SOLS. Games like this are why people stopped giving DoubleFine money, good gravy. The core conceit of being a head that body-hops to use various body-specific traits like unique weapons, traversal powers, or keycards is solid. However the 60s retrofuture aesthetic gets old quickly and after the opening half hour there’s no changes in complexity or structure for the rest of the 5 hour game. Writing was also pretty loose, which is what DoubleFine usually leans on when the gameplay is shoddy, leading to a game that really underlined how much Psychonauts was lightning in a bottle.
Final Fantasy I: Dawn of Souls – This GBA remake is older now than the original was when this came out. My Final Fantasy exposure is mostly playing XIII in high school, Kingdom Hearts, and watching Advent Children at least five times. I felt I owed it to myself to go back to the source. The source showed me we’ve been making the same damn game for 40 years. It’s a pretty good game. If I wasn’t able to fast-forward the emulator and hold down A to autoattack I might’ve lost my marbles though. The GBA bonus dungeons were the highlight of the game, so I’m glad I went with this version.
STRANGER OF PARADISE FINAL FANTASY ORIGIN – Playing FF1 was also homework for playing this. I want to kill chaos. I do not want to play a Team Ninja game. This leads to conflicts. I expect to stick with this because I’m genuinely fascinated by the game’s delirious genius, but it’s also bewildering.
Noreya: The Gold Project – Metroidvania map design is hard. It’s been said that in many ways the map is the main character of such a game, and the player avatar is merely the means of exploring and understanding that character. Noreya has interesting ideas of save points being shrines to one god or another, and the god you choose to install both unlocking parts of your skill tree and whoever is winning sets world tendency which alters around a quarter of the map. The issue is the game’s laboriously labyrinthine tunnels, with constant linear corridors ending in a switch to open up progress in another corridor that requires a six room detour to return to. It’s cumbersome, it’s boring, and it’s incessant. I ended up dropping the game at that point, because the good parts of this game’s lore and presentation I already got from Blasphemous years ago.
Metal Gear Solid 2 – Substance – Same as MGS1 I’m going to be playing this 1-2 hours at a time for several months when I hang out with a buddy. This means I’m on a drip feed of Kojima’s bullshit. Any other game series I would assume the named woman who establishes her familial relationship with other characters, history with various factions, pregnancy status, and combat skill would be a recurring antagonist or otherwise a driver of the plot. However, we’re in Kojima’s house so he used every polygon available to the PS2 rendering her armpit hair then drowns her offscreen. Maybe I’m wrong! Maybe she’s alive! Maybe she’s 16 rats in a trenchcoat! Possibilities abound.
Thread – Games like Thread are why I buy random shit off steam and give it 5 hours of my life sight unseen. I only heard of it from an offhand comment in the steam review of another metroidvania and it quietly snuck its way into being one of my favorites. Dense, consistently clever, and a joy to move in, it’s everything I could want out of a metroidvania that deliberately eschews bosses. What an absolute joy to discover.
#video game review#stranger of paradise#metroidvania#vexx#normally I put pithy shit down here but I've got nothing today#I'd like to thank my BA in Philosophy for letting me just idly bust out a two page essay on random nonsense in the space of an hour or so

Round 1: Yae Sakura vs Ai Hyperion
(Propaganda under the cut)
Yae Sakura:
yae sakura is so everything to me she's a tragic lesbian (canonical) in every sense of the word. she was the daughter of her village's miko and was forced to kill her little sister (whom she was desperately trying to save) in a ritual! her father literally took her hands and made her stab her sister all while her sister was comforting her and asked sakura to become the best miko! this incident made her lose faith in here village and the god it prayed to because the ritual had worked and she couldn't come to terms with devoting herself to a god that would ask of a child's slaughter!! BUT SHE STILL STAYED BECAUSE OF HER SISTER'S ASK!! she would continue these ritual sacrifices while also grieving and committing every child's name to memory!!! she would mourn them alongside her sister while resentment for her village festered!!!! this resentment was ultimately the thing that drew the herrscher (kinda like. a god.) in the black box (an artifact that kallen brought) to her, corrupting her and possessing her in a way!!!!! sakura's collusion with the herrscher was because of all her pent up resentment! and her relationship kallen!!!! kallen (who's design is based off of a nun and is a jesus-like character) ran away from her home with the stolen black box because she the rulers of her nation were corrupt. in sakura, she found a new home. and in turn, sakura found a new home in her!! kallen was the first person since rin that made sakura happy! kallen was the only person that ever validated that sakura's resentment!! so even when kallen was the reason why the herrscher found sakura, kallen was still ultimately the reason why sakura snapped out of her possession and turned against the herrscher!!!!!! ITS ABOUT LOVE AND HOME AND RESENTMENT AURHGHGHHGGHHG. even when sakura and the herrscher were trapped in the black box together because sakura couldn't get away in time, she held on to the image of kallen, fully believing that her beloved would come save her. and by the time she DID get out of the box, 500 years had passed and kallen had long been dead!!! fun fact kallen was sentenced to execution and during her trial she stated "the herrscher girl is innocent and i am in love with her!" I HAVENT EVEN MENTIONED HOW HER STORY TIES IN SO BEAUTIFULLY WITH THE PREVIOUS ERA.

I think tumblr ate my ask, if it didn’t feel free to just ignore this but I love your qslime designs that you drew recently and wanted to know more abt the healing arc- the house by tubbo and the garden? wondering what you had in mind for the cicle of slime in the end
aww tyty so i picture this as being like. way after the prison arc and that while everyone was dealing with the whole. bunny thing??? i dont really know a lot about that era since i havent watched much of anyone outside of charlie (its my bad tho tbh. im gonna try to get more into others povs probably starting WITH tubbo bc i like he.)
but! my idea is that while that whole thing was going on Charlie had actually been taken by the federation and spent that whole time being experimented on and "fixed" no one really knew where he went. I have the idea that maybe Codeflippa (nicknaming her Koda for simplicity) has been stalking the other islanders trying to find her dad and overhears Sunny calling him Pop and she actually approaches Tubbo and Sunny! Of course theres no like. immediate trust from Tubbo but Sunny likes her and she is implying that Charlie may be in danger. So Tubbo + Pac e Mike + remaining bolas members pull a rescue mission, find Mr. Trauma going through his trauma, and hes basically put on watch when they go back. So Tubbo, at the behest of Sunny, gives him (and Koda) a little plot of land.
Charlie builds a little cottage (he stole from pintrest) with Koda and also a little garden because he wants to grow his own foods and not just mooch off of tubbo. It also has a dedicated section with just flowers, including small memorials for Tilin, Bobby, Jaiden, and of course Flippa.
oh my god this really turned into a big nonsense ramble that kind of lost the plot but hope you got something from it! ill probably think of more to add to it

ok one last post about the Project to truly exorcise it from my brain. just some process/design thoughts (also now that it's done if you want to read my liveblogged whinging for whatever reason here it is)
first off some stats because i kept stats like the nerd that i am:
time wise making this animatic took about 93.5 hours give or take (thanks procreate process replay) spread across exactly 2 months
anyway when i said i finished this project mostly through stubbornness and sunk cost fallacy this is what i meant lol like a lot of my thought process through this was just 'no way in hell am i letting some of these drawings disappear into my drafts forever'
on average each frame took about 2 hours 45 minutes but thats a bit of an overestimate since i forgot to count some of the animated bits from the first two lines (so id guess the actual number is more like.. 2 hours 20 minutes?)
btw that line with the starry apparition fading away? 12 hours total
the single longest and most painful frame to draw was the one of the crew walking through tu'narath (5 hours 30 minutes) because a. perspective b. architecture design c. for some reason i put a lot of detail into rendering the armour on all the githyanki i drew why on earth did i do that
(its especially painful bc that frame was one of the ones that didnt... feel like an important enough moment in the actual story of the show to be worth capturing the way the wish or even like, endellion is, i just needed to put that there for the storytelling flow or whatever of the animatic itself and it bothered me so much)
one other interesting little mishap was that i did all of these on canvas size 1080x720px (so that's why the youtube resolution isnt particularly high lmao) which is why procreate let me put an absolutely absurd amount of layers in one canvas (all 8 frames of with memories projected on the astral sea were done on one canvas. 159 layers) because the layer limit for that canvas size is 400 BUT. i accidentally started the starry apparition fade on an A4 canvas (my default canvas size for like all my normal fanart) and i only realised after finishing all the lineart and starting on colouring because i hit layer limit so i had to resize the canvas which did... interesting?? things to the lineart resolution
also if youre wondering how i drew K-LB that many times in something resembling timely fashion the answer is i sacrificed some... amount of sleep to 3d model and rig him in blender which. honestly? i consider it a roaring success
splitting the frames by bar was a Choice and certainly a choice ive.. had doubtsTM about but thats the kind of thing you cant really change without bringing the whole project crashing down so if the frames seem to move a bit too fast im so sorry there was really not much i could do there
idk if people actually noticed the very very tiny drawings of the crew moving around on the ship in the 4th line especially since they sometimes get obscured by the subtitles but the REASON for that is in my original drawings the subtitles went in the top left corner but they kept conflicting with other stuff so i just gave up and threw them to the bottom (also i originally included the chinese lyrics but then i got lazy lmao)
anyway that little detail like VR-LA angstily looking at the sea reminiscing about the JourneyTM and the crew sort of appearing along with the memories of their adventures together was one of those things that seemed SO COOL in my head but once i actually execute it its like. hmmmm not sure if that worked out the way you thought it would buddy. also the tiny crew was EXTREMELY hard to draw so put that down as another point in 'me subjecting myself to deeply painful and out there compositions for no good reason'
anyway i called this my magnum opus but i do actually have some thoughts about another one (a companion piece, if you will) for another song by the same band because now that i know what capcut can do im.. really itching to try something a little different because this like powerpoint presentation style? fully a product of me using iMovie as my only available video editing software for the past like 7 years of my life
#rwd#asto speaks#re: the projectTM#one last time using this dumbass tag lmao#honestly? also put another point in 'i worked on a project for so long it became just a Project to me and proceeded to get#absolutely blindsided by the emotional affect it has on people'#2 months. 2. months.#whatever actual emotion this idea was originally trying to draw from is long fucking gone buddy#like i did manage to re-experience some of it looking at the finished product but#i appreciate yalls screaming a lot i just truly did not anticipate it LMAO

Mitsuki Izumi White Special Day! Rabbit Chat - Part 4: Memories of the amusement park
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5
ㅤ
Tsumugi: Thank you for your hard work, Mitsuki-san!
Mitsuki: Thank you for your hard work, Manager!
Mitsuki: I’m currently practicing the dance moves for the performance!
Tsumugi: Ah, are you busy right now…? Mitsuki: I’m currently taking a break so there’s no problem! What’s the matter?
Tsumugi: The “White Special Day” campaign has had a successful launch, and it’s been receiving much praise!
Tsumugi: This is all thanks to everyone’s hard work! Thank you! Mitsuki: Receiving lots of praise, I see! All the preparations beforehand were worth it!
Tsumugi: Yes! A lot of aspects of the campaign received high praise, especially…
ㅤ
Choices:
Option 1 - Everyone’s greeting video!
Mitsuki: For real!? All my efforts in riding the roller coaster were worth it then! But then again, all I did was scream, and the amusement park’s introduction was done by Yamato-san and Nagi. I’ll try harder next time!!
ㅤ
Option 2 - Your limited-time menu’s recommended food, candy popcorn!
Mitsuki: Is it because you can eat it on the go? But I thought that Riku’s recommended Swiss roll was not only exquisite but also tasty, even I was surprised when I tried it!
ㅤ
Option 3 - The roller coaster that had its appearance redecorated by IDOLiSH7!
Mitsuki: I saw it a day before the event started, it was majestic! When Sogo drew a design of the roller coaster with arms, I was worried about the outcome of the roller coaster for a bit…
ㅤ
Mitsuki: The event sure is lively!
Tsumugi: Yes! It’s all thanks to everyone’s collective efforts, including Mitsuki-san!
Mitsuki: Wasn’t it hard for you to manage everyone’s schedules as well? It’s all thanks to your efforts too!
Tsumugi:
Mitsuki: By the way, I heard from Iori that he went surveying with the president during the campaign, is that true? (lol)
Tsumugi: It is! Iori-san said that he’d like to survey the park during the event, but there were some complications so the president went with him.
Mitsuki: It’d feel too conspicuous if Iori were to follow me, but Iori and the president look like a father-son duo. That doesn’t seem like a bad thing lol
Tsumugi: The president was pretty enthusiastic about it too…
Mitsuki: Just the idea of the both of them going to the amusement park together is amusing enough lololol
Tsumugi:
Tsumugi: Mitsuki-san, have you ever been to an amusement park with Iori-san before?
Mitsuki: Yup! But it was only when we were little and went with our parents.
Mitsuki: At that time, Iori kept eyeing the character balloons the other kids were holding. I think he really wanted one as well, so I dragged him along and said “Let’s go to the shops!”
Mitsuki: I kept on walking without any hesitation. In the end, not only did we not find the shops, but we also got separated from our parents. I was really scared when that happened.
Tsumugi: So you both were lost…!
Mitsuki: No, I don’t think it counts as being lost since Iori remembered where we came from and we instantly reunited with our parents. But we did get lectured to not run off on our own.
Tsumugi: What a wholesome memory!
Mitsuki: Iori’s always been dependable even as a kid. Even though I don’t remember anything, I’m sure I’ve caused him trouble a lot of times.
Tsumugi: I don’t think that’s the case, because Iori-san likes you a lot.
Tsumugi: Not only did his brother realize what he wanted, but his brother also brought him to the shops in search of it. I’m sure Iori-san feels happy…!
Mitsuki: Thank you, Manager.
Mitsuki: That’s just how he’s like, after all. He’s the kind of person who can’t honestly say what he wants. So when I discovered something he wanted, I was beyond excited to help him.
Mitsuki: Maybe he thought the same way when he helped me out with the audition. When Iori knows what I want, he helps me out too.
Mitsuki: But both of us have grown up, so now we fight for the things we want on our own, with our own strength!
Tsumugi: I think this mutual support between you and Iori-san is a wonderful thing! I hope that you and Iori-san maintain such a good relationship!
Tsumugi:
Mitsuki:
Mitsuki: Right, I still need to think of ways to make the audience satisfied despite having fewer songs during the performance!
Mitsuki: I want to think of what the fans would want, just like how I noticed what Iori wants! White Day is a once-a-year event, after all!
Mitsuki:
Tsumugi: Thank you!
Tsumugi: Let’s hold a concert that can make the fans who have supported us all this time feel happy…!
Mitsuki: I agree!
Mitsuki: I’ve gotten enough rest, I should continue to practice my dance moves. I’ll talk to you later, Manager!
Mitsuki:

all my mlp ocs in order of creation
DayDreamBreeze. also my original gamertag on minecraft! i uhm. shes not supposed to be a cheese changling. She's inspired by a fluttershy toy i had and the beautiful artwork for the honey queen chrysalis from ink rose's interpretation of her backstory. i swapped the honey for water and she's supposed to be a pegasus? but i drew her as a changling here for some reason and i have no clue why
Casey Cockatrice. Seeing pony youtubers discuss the show in their oc form, and thinking "wow, they're all just pegasi" i was like "i should do that but not be a pegasus" so i made an oc and never did that lol. probably a good thing though. anyhow. Casey was originally supposed to be an angel cockatrice but I didn't know how to do that without just making a chicken with a lizard tail until just now im realizing i should make it a dutchie omg. Casey enjoys the ponies and wants to befriend them but is confined to the everfree forest, so she has dawned a blindfold so she doesnt hurt anyone and she likes to hang out with zecora and collect herbs with her. she still just kinda does chicken/dragon things most of the time like pecking at the ground and sitting on treasure. The ring in her comb is supposed to be a halo. halos stuck in the character's design physically (usually through the hair or something similar) was a common thing i did for characters that were close to me at the time.
Lemon Lily. She is. very bright. she was supposed to have a much more subtle color palette but i didnt do that and now she looks like sprite lmao. anyhow. i drew her randomly when i went through a small mlp phase a few years ago, mainly just attraction for chrysalis, but i guess she exists. her cutie mark is supposed to look like a water lily made of lemons but it kinda just looks weird idk. i'd say her talent is supposed to be like.. maybe floral arrangement? i think i had some inspiration from early mlp background ponies and i remember the florists were my favorite.
JASON!! my favorite little idiot. he's a griffin i made in pony.town after realizing if i use the singular freckle and closed the eyes, it looked like he had tiny eyes and angry brows lol. all i do with him is act vaguely like skydoesminecraft and boop people with my bird fingers.
DayDreamBreeze 2.0. i literally drew this bitch and didn't do anything else with them. ever.
then is autumn breeze whom i've drawn literally in like my last post so im not doing it again rn. she's my LOE pony and if you want her lore go to the post where i drew her on my phone.
Honey Suckle. The only OC that I have surviving evidence of actually writing their backstory and whatnot. They were created with the idea of them experimenting on their body trying to turn themselves into a bee (basically beeatris as a horse, i know none of you know my persona beeatris but its pretty much her without the demonic activity and disney fairy influence), though i have thought of maybe changing it to her wanting to become a breezy or a changeling. She lost her horn because of this experimentation and is fluffier and has patches of hair on her eyes because of it. i forgot if she had a cutie mark or if i just didnt draw it or if it's overgrown? I think a lot of this character's experimentation was based off of memories of my brother who had leukemia and tried experimental treatments, mainly the fuzziness he got from his chemo or steroids i forgot which one it was. I also drew her as a kirin, idk if that was supposed to be a thing of like.. me doing it as an alternate idea of what she's aiming to achieve, as an alternate form of what she was born as.. or if it was just a doodle.. but it was pretty cool. a good quote for her is the vine thats like "i am a wolf on all levels but physical"
Next is Pegasus. I originally had a different name for them but i don't think i can share it here. Pegasus is also related to my brother though and is very cool. they're really just a celestial body as a pony like Celestia and Luna, but with more of a crystal pony inspiration. also, they speak enchanting table only and i think thats really funny. same size as Luna. also, she can hide in Luna's hair.
Stone Hoof. based somewhat off of Smokey Quartz from Steven Universe, i thought it'd be cool to also give them speckling like an appaloosa horse or vitiligo. you can't see their cutie mark but it's supposed to be a yoyo and i put it in the shape of the symbol of leo since im a leo and i designed them on the same day as pegasus lol. they are intended to be a friend to Honey Suckle.
Finally, we have... I didn't name this one actually. uhm. well! it looks kinda like scootaloo, especially g3 or 3.5. which was unintentional but she was one of my favorite ponies and i had a few toys of her so it kinda makes sense that this is what my brain thought of when i thought "well loved my little pony doll". The hair is based off of the fettucine hair on those g4 plushies and also somewhat based on dreads. the patterns on their hooves is the heartshaped horseshoe from those promotional toys where you can scan them in for video game perks. and the wings are colored after discord's wings. I also got inspo from Stitches from Animal Crossing.
those are the horses. 1 like = 1 more horse post.
i also have customs i made as a kid that i dont have pictures of but i could redraw. but they're basically just "this character but i painted this animal on their face."

ARTIFACTS
I. Limerick: Making a limerick is one of our tasks in EDLIT101 class. We were asked to depict a personal and humorous encounter, and I chose my memory of falling off of a monkey bar when I was in elementary. I was quite the clumsy kid, but I loved to play. This was an unforgettable depiction of my personal experience that I was able to illustrate through this work.
The title took after my childhood nickname, Bibo, because I was a jovial kid. Jovial or happy in Spanish is 'feliz,' and I was giddy at this little connection I made because I was struggling with coming up with a rhyming title.
I find poems tricky as I am not very good with being creative in words. I am not very good with rhymes and measures and whatnot, but I got good remarks from our professor for this output which has boosted my confidence on the type of hand I got when it comes to these kinds of craft.
I drew the image of the monkey bar with a goal in mind that it has to look empty, but the grass was green and the soil beneath was damp looking, the monkey bars moist with the mix of rain and my sweaty palms. The lone shoe beneath indicates my erratic exit from the view as I left the scene heaving, winded from my fall. The poem depicts my carelessness in the playground, driven by the adrenaline of 'flying,' which I recall was a great feeling. Overall, I enjoyed the process I went through with this output because it is always a joy to visit the youth. It makes the task a more enjoyable experience.
II. Bumper Sticker: This work is from an activity for when we were tasked to design a bumper sticker relating it to our learning environment, particularly in language acquisition. I centered my work on the principle of affective filter, that having it on high hinders the efficacy of acquiring the language while having it on low makes it easier to develop/acquire language.
I drew (digitally) everything except the texts because we were required to have an original output. I am quite proud of this output because I personally think I was able to draw the emoji in a way that looks actually like an emoji. And by far, it stood out amongst other outputs in class during its presentation.
III. Workshops: These are certificates from one of our workshops that I was able to keep. The workshop was held on the 8th of May, 2023 and we were granted these for our participation. With valuable insights coming from the guest speakers, I was able to craft a more creative output onwards.
I am not greatly inclined with writing as much as I am with drawing, but I did enjoy the time spent on seeing how others weave their words in ways that I find captivating and extremely creative. I ultimately dream of being as good as they are with words - this is a skill I wish I could master at this age.
IV. Character Sketch: This sketch of Suguru Geto from the anime Jujutsu Kaisen was a task for a character sketch, assigned to me in a group activity. The task was a graded performance in our AHE111 class, and it required me to choose a character to describe his personality and physical appearance. I was able to get the sketch done overnight because I personally love how his character is portrayed in the show, and I added a few of my observations of his character into that output.
V. Alternative Ending:
In one of our literature classes during our second year’s second semester, we were tasked to make an alternative ending to one of the literary pieces we discussed. This work in particular was about Deep in My Heart by Wilfredo Ma. Guerrero. I enjoyed this activity and was proud of my output because I was firm with the ending I wanted. I like it when I am able to respond to a literary piece with something of my own.

lets take a stroll down memory lane baby
francis' design (and name) has been the most consistent tbh, its just her hsir texture and colour have changed & her general fashion sense. i dont think she's ever worn skirts in her modern iteration aside from uniform (and especially not tennis/pleated skirts like that) overall her change came from just which type of "alternative" she is, like then it had a very distinct pale grunge omg so teenager aspect to it (hence the flannel and fishnets) but now shes some old school emo who writes her own music on a 4th hand guitar and has a deep appreciation for speedcore & harsh noise
i used to HATEEEEE drawing artëm so fucking much because of his shitty little goatee but i kept it out of some weird sense of obligation. he used to be such a big asahi knock off which is amusing because this is years before i got into haikyuu. he used to take a lot after the ~uwu plant mom soft succulent~ thing that was popular at the time (gag) and his scarred eyebrow used to be on the other side . his old name used to be aster after the plant (or mushroom?) though, which is cute
AWFUL. TERRIBLE . I ALSO HATED DRAWING HIM BUT FOUND HIM COMPELLING AS A CHARACTER SO I DREW HIM CONSTANTLY. i used to really be committed to drawing plaid on every single pic of him which i now ut doesnt even cross my mind even though it is still part of his design. i dont even wanna talk about what his old name was. at some point the glimpse of a black shirt over the course of a few months became completely opened and he was wearing his flannel as a jacket with a band shirt underneath, but i hated that too and buttoned that bitch back up
GO WHITEBOY GOOOO . i remember his design was originally "stolen" from a sketchbook tour doodle off of an artist i followed, but it turns out when i rewatched it they had nothing in common and i misremembered it. he used to have the stars on his face for no reason really, at some point i think he was an actual ~celestial prince~ and his name was actually bubblegum as well. i think he used to be pan too (which is REALLY fucking funny, i didnt even write him liking girls at all) and he used to be the gay best friend trope , . or worse yet in his very very first incarnate francis had a crush on him and it was like omgmgmg.g.. im in love with my best friend..d.r.r. So over on patreon Trevor asked for my take on the Addams Family and I grew up LOVING the Addams family movies so here we are. Instead of doing a straight up style interpretation, I decided to do a full on design challenge, using the characters as bases to make a black southern gothic Addams au. I actually drew the kids first, using the character bases of Wednesday and Pugsley to create some delightful kiddos I'm calling Sunday and Blanche. I of course then redesigned Gomez and Morticia into Carlisle and Mortesha.
The Addams have a very specific high aristocratic goth aesthetic (they've got a butler and nobody really works among other things) so in this re-imagining I wanted to go with vibes that run a little more middle class/upper middle class. I thought it would be interesting to think about what would be considered weird and off-putting in an entirely different culture, and how being a big ol' goth is way less controversial than it used to be.
I tried to keep this short (HAHAHAHAHAHA) so I didn't spin off into an essay about villain coded families, black people in the horror genre, and normalcy as it pertains to social survival, but just...bits of that are in these designs and lore. Keep that in mind.
Also I made the kids twins because they've flip flopped in age so much in different media and also twins run in my family (i'm the daughter of one). And let's face it, I'm pulling a lot of their southern gothic traits from living as a southern goth so *shrug*.
10 thousand pounds of lore incoming loooooooooool.
The Parents
From the moment he saw her he knew that there was a 50/50 chance of him either never making it out of that swamp alive or marrying the figure that was creeping out from under the distant willow tree in a black cocktail dress. The third time she found him trussed up in one of her traps, he complimented her rope work and asked if she'd like to go out sometime after his head wound stopped bleeding.
Or while it was still bleeding.
If she was into that.
Some kids and a mysteriously burnt down Piggly Wiggly later, their love is still as strong and inescapable as a bear trap in a sink hole.
Carlisle Guillermo (now Addams through marriage but I wanted to give him two first names for a name since Gomez has two last names) makes a vaguely described living practicing ‘law’ around town. A loophole king, people come to him from miles around with contracts signed in blood, fights over chunks of hair buried in their rivals’ yard, dehydrated primate hands, memories that seemed like dreams until the evidence of their happenings became too real, and other regular Legal Items asking for counsel which he is all too happy to give. For a price. Sometimes that price is a homemade pie and sometimes it’s a million dollars, depends on who you are. Whatever you’re asked to pay it’s worth that price, and if you try to scam him out of work or he just plain doesn’t like you? Well. He knows how to twist a contract better than anything at the crossroads.
And he always gets his due.
He doesn’t just serve the local (living)humans though, there are many things that need proper legal representation in this day and age. You wouldn’t believe how many city councils try to build on sacred burial grounds even after he lets them know that his ghostly clients are totally gonna haunt the FUCK out of the ensuing shitty condos and curse their families for all eternity. At least 50% of his energy goes towards dealing with real estate bullshit.
Carl is an excitable and good natured(?) man who loves his family, cigars, dancing, and his many knife-based hobbies. People find him very charming once they get past the feeling that they’re talking to a sultry gator badly disguising itself as a human. I didn’t put a ton of deep thought into designing him, mostly I wanted to make a middle aged dude who looked like he would have been voted ‘most likely to smooch the literal devil’ in high school. Tbh he probably has, but no demonic ex’s can compare to his lovely wife~
Mortesha Addams(her name was already perfect so I just tweaked it)is a woman of many talents. A self proclaimed homemaker, she prides herself on a greenhouse full of Concerning Foliage, a beautiful wasp apiary, and a coop full of what are probably chickens that she keeps for what are probably eggs. She’s also an avid creator of the outsider art that can be seen around the estate. She has taken on the family business of selling her homemade goods in a little stall by the road just outside the swamp with her mom, and makes pretty good money doing so. A surprising amount of poison gets bought in quaint southern towns.
Speaking of poison, people who come out to the edge of the swamp to buy it are usually carrying a lot of secrets around, and Mortesha knows most of them. It’s not like she pries the truth out of people, it just so happens that many nervous hellos eventually turn into the tragic backstory power hour if she’s alone with a client for long enough. She supposes that’s just how people are. Despite the fact that the Addams are very active in the community (whether the community likes it or not) she especially, as a direct descendant of the first Addams matriarch, is seen as…Well not an outsider because the community feels A Certain Way about outsiders and despite it all the Addams are their people, but maybe something like an exception. They feel like whatever weirdness they’re hiding can’t be weirder than any given Addams, so they get a little loose with their words.
This is amusing to her, since Addams’ don’t naturally keep the kind dramatic secrets that their surface level prim and proper neighbors do. It’s much more fun to openly talk about those things.
Do they have a sadly decrepit yet terrifying grandma up in the attic? Yeah, like three. They got a tv, all the creepy porcelain dolls they could want, and they’re close to family. Where do you keep your gram-grams?
Any bodies buried on the property? Yeah some, but most are thrown to the gators.
Any creeping through the balmy summer night with ill intentions? Yeah dude, everyone loves a nice family stroll.
What about dangerous forbidden love? If an adult Addams isn’t incorporeal then they’re either queer or in a torrid romance with some person/thing mysteriously drawn to that awful swamp. Sometimes both at the same time. Most times actually.
Mortesha would know.
The current head of the Addams family is just as outgoing as her husband but a lot quieter and harder to read. She never really seems to get mad about much and always has a genteel smile for everyone whether they deserve it or not. A seven foot tall human shaped “Oh, bless your heart”. A perfectly composed Lady even when she’s, oh I dunno, burning down a Piggly Wiggly. You know. A regular southern mom. Chat her up at the hair salon for 50% off a jar of wasp honey with your next purchase of a mysterious but foreboding packet of herbs.
Designing her was pretty easy because I just drew a lankier Grace Jones and called it a day. I had some problems with her outfit simply because if we were going HARD southern gothic then she’d probably be wearing a white/cream dress with a fuller skirt but I thought keeping the silhouette and the black was more important. She’s supposed to be an anti southern gothic southern gothic character anyway. A woman who looks like she has a million secrets who is actually the most open person you could meet. For better or worse. The red hair came from a coloring error that I really ended up liking (my mom had red hair her whole childhood that only darkened up in high school so I can buy that an Addams can be naturally fire engine red) and the veil was to get more of that classic Morticia silhouette in there.
The Children
Sunday and Blanche are the twin children of Carlisle and Mortesha Addams. Some say the Addams clan got their cursed homestead when a wealthy local businessman made a deal with the devil and lost, leaving his grand mansion to his least favorite maid and cutting his losses once he realized that the swamp would do everything it could to drag the house into the water and take what was owed with its horrible curse. Others say that the family has just always squatted there and no one really cares because man, fuck that particular swamp. Have you been in there? Absolute horror show.
Anyway.
Blanche is the more outgoing sibling and quite the engineer/mad scientist in the making. He started going grey at 2 weeks old but considering he was also rocking some extra fingers, toes, and a tiny tail (he takes after his dad), his parents just put it on the 'not life threatening' pile and decided not to worry about it. He's the kind of smart that teachers find utterly infuriating, less a dog eagerly learning and obeying commands and more a hyena who keeps teaching itself how to pick locks. He has a few friends in his school's robotics club (which they honestly allowed him to make so the school could contain his... creations) but mostly hangs out with his sister exploring the swamp. They find all sorts of neat things in there! wedding rings, suspiciously lumpy garbage bags, cloaked cultists who can't read private property signs, it's an adventure every day!
Blanche is all about experimentation with his creations, his look, and his tether to this mortal coil. Is lipstick a cool thing to try? Let's find out. Can he get out of a strait jacket fast enough after being pushed into the depths of the swamp by his sister? let's find out. He's not dead yet and confused local doctors can attest to the fact that he's rarely attained more than a bad bruise so he's pretty set on continuing to kiss rattlesnakes on their cute little heads and have his sister practice her knife throwing at him until that fact changes.
Blanche is very much a country goth. Cowboy boots (customized by his mom), knife, and lighter are daily accessories. He likes to wear the crusty swamp jewelry they find (the rust adds a splash of color!) and despite appearances he does try to keep himself neat. He's just got natural Grunge Colors and a tendency to wear clothes he likes until they fall apart. Pugsley always seemed the most modernly styled to me (which might just be because little boys clothes have been the same for a long time) so I wanted Blanche to be the most purposely fashionable Addams. Everyone else is goth by nature, but he's the only one truly familiar with goth as an alternative fashion.
I got really into designing Blanche because honestly, I find Pugsley to be the most boring member of the family. And he was hard to design! I had to mess with his vibe a lot to get him looking how I wanted. I know he's supposed to evoke an " 'evil' little boy next door who's parents never reign him in", but that's just goth Dennis The Menace. I's 2020. We can at least go queer goth Calvin.
Sunday was much easier to design. Wednesday was my favorite as a child (of course) and I really wanted to keep the spirit of her look while adding things like billowy sleeves (it gets HOT down here), big poofy twists instead of braids, and a nice tie. She's a professional after all, been running the local pet cemetery since she was 6 and the previous groundskeeper met with an unfortunate accident after telling her that tarantulas don't have souls. Her specialty is creating beautiful naturalistic animal funerals similar to those that Maquenda (https://linktr.ee/artofmaquenda) makes, and she takes pride in creating miniature dioramas of her subjects after each burial which she uses as a kind of 3D catalog for future clients.
She really wants to try out her skills on humans one day. Well. Publicly try out her skills. Lotta random bodies float into the swamp. None of them have turned down her requests for diorama models so far. Most seem downright flattered. Plus, she usually figures out which graveyard/crime scene they floated over from and gets her parents to give them a lift back. She'll even help enact terrifying revenge from beyond the grave on whoever put them there if she's not, y'know, busy.
Besides arts, crafts, and pet based funerary arrangements, Sunday is an avid lover of archery (any ranged weapon really), books where little fantasy adventure animals die dramatic deaths, and history. She is That Kid who eagerly raises her hand when asked who Christopher Columbus was and ends up being sent out of class after 15 minutes for making 'a scene'. Her favorite party trick is just picking an item in the room and talking about how it relates to either some obscure historical figure with a buck wild life or a horrible disaster. At least one charity pancake breakfast ended with children in tears after her vivid description of the Great Molasses Flood of 1919.
Social-wise, while Wednesday is the girl that people ask to smile because they think she'd, "look so pretty", Sunday is rarely asked anything at all. People just kind of assume from her quiet nature (in between horrible history facts) that she's angry all the time and that she hates everyone. This is untrue. She hates some people but she's ambivalent to most everyone else and even downright friendly if you bother to talk to her like a person instead of a terrifying cryptid. Like, she IS a terrifying cryptid but she's also a little girl.
That’s about it for now. One day I might do the other family members but for now I’m happy with the four I’ve redesigned. Making an au! Lurch in a family that doesn’t do butlers could be interesting. Over on patreon I put forth that he could just be Motesha’s mute little brother (similar bone structure) but Amy Crook had the nice idea of quote: “ a mysterious "cousin" that "helps around the house" whose origins are both long in the past and faintly unsettling. He's good for lifting heavy things, like that tank of propane you're about to throw into the burning Piggly Wiggly... “ which i now consider canon. Who's kid is he? How old is he? Not important. Anyone willing to commit arson with you is family.
Annnnyway. This challenge was a lot of fun! I love indulging in AU’s.

Disney's Atlantis (2001) will have no more sequels, and Intellectual Property is why.
In short: IP law. But not the "make money by writing it off" thingy.
Epistemic status: a memory of a Q&A panel from 2002.
At length:
Atlantis was released in 2001. It had a giant mechanical lobster,
and some neat steampunk submarines,
These submarines go on a neat adventure through underwater passages past shipwrecks of ages past, break through a big door, and arrive at an underground cavern filled with forgotten machines, which power up when you insert glowing crystals in them.
And that's the whole problem with Walt Disney Animated Series film 41: Atlantis: The Lost Empire, its sequel, and really the entire story and concept.
In 1992, renowned painter James Gurney released the picture-book Dinotopia: A Land Apart from Time, which featured a neat little steampunk submarine, the front one in this series of maquettes by Glenn Ludgate:
In 1995, Gurney published a sequel, Dinotopia: The World Beneath, where a group of intrepid explorers use a steampunk submarine to go on an underwater excursion through the remains of wrecked ships of ages past, through a door, to a cavern full of forgotten machines which power up when you insert glowing crystals in them. Including an evil lobster.
In 1999, Gurney published the prequel, Dinotopia: First Flight, which told the story of where those sunstone-powered mechanical marvels came from: the drowned city of Poseidos. The story included a chase sequence with sunstone-powered flying trilobites.
There are, shall we say, certain parallels.
In June 2001, Disney released Atlantis: The Lost Empire. The film allegedly underperformed at the box office, taking in $186.1 million against a budget of $90-120 million. In 2003, Disney released the direct-to-video sequel Atlantis: Milo's Return, which collected content previously intended for a canceled TV series. It competed with Shrek.
During his April-September 2002 exhibition at the Smithsonian National Museum of National History, an audience member asked Gurney about the parallels between the recently-released Atlantis and Gurney's designs for Dinotopia. Gurney replied that he couldn't comment, but that his lawyers had reached an agreeable settlement with Disney.
Because the lawsuit was settled out of court — if it in fact existed, which is what I here allege — it left no records. I have found nothing by search; if you find any documentation of this, you're welcome to publish it. Disney acknowledges that Atlantis drew from Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. For other plagiarism allegations, you will find much more documentation of alleged parallels between Atlantis and Nadia: Secret of Blue Water and Laputa: Castle in the Sky.
In May 2002, Hallmark Entertainment and Walt Disney TV released a three-episode, four-hour Dinotopia miniseries. A sequel series of 13 episodes was released beginning in November 2002, produced by ABC and Hallmark Entertainment. An animated film was released in 2005 by Hallmark Entertainment. There were also a series of Dinotopia video games for PC/MAC GBA, and GC/Xbox in 2002 and 2003. It's this really-tight cluster of activity, right after Atlantis came out.
In 2007, Gurney published the fourth and latest Dinotopia book, Dinotopia: Journey to Chandara. It's very beautiful.
In 2013, Disney remastered and rereleased the Atlantis films in 2013.
------
These Atlantis gifs are hand-cut with ffmpeg in 720p 15fps, straight from the movie, and the Dinotopia images are sourced from James Gurney's blog, "Gurney Journey" which I highly recommend as a source of traditional-media painting advice as well as general art advice. The Dinotopia books are a joy to read, and if you want, there is a YA novel series as well as a pair of novels by Alan Dean Foster. Gurney also wrote several guides to illustration and painting, and in general is a nice old man.
Don't blame James Gurney for stealing Atlantis. Blame Disney for stealing Dinotopia.
------
Reading Comprehension Questions:
What parallels does OP see between Atlantis and Dinotopia?
What sources does OP cite for the core allegations in this essay?
What is OP's stance towards Disney? Towards James Gurney?
Who does OP blame for Atlantis being dead IP?
How would your personal stance on copyright law affect the outcome of a lawsuit between James Gurney and Disney over stolen intellectual property?
Fanfic prompt: The Atlantis expedition wash up on the shore of Dinotopia. The expedition arrives a few years after the Dennisons do, with Will and Sylvia off on their new career, and Arthur having a bit of an empty-nest syndrome. No one knows where Lee Crabb is.

I'm gonna be honest, Ive been debating whether to do a writing post or a comic post for the family reunion.
BUT I did drew how I draw some of the Kongs, I will draw more soon just gotta sketch out some designs for them... also some headcanons for them. So for now I will shared some information for yall.
The Donkey Kong Family:
Donkey Kong Junior:
The mysterious Kong that disappear after the arcade era, some say that they have seen this Kong around but never confirmed it. Now that he has returned, hes the Kong that lost his ability to talk normally, lost of memory, and half of his eyesight. So his family is helping him the basics and remember who they were towards him. But there is something off about him... Only Cranky Kong knows something is wrong with him.
Fun Fact:
Its rather rare to make or see him smile, however if he does then it would be a wholesome moment.
The shell choker was made as a gift of returning back home from Funky and DK, he isn't planning on taking it off at some point.
Donkey Kong The Third:
Donkey Kong, or should I say Donkey Kong the III, is the modern Donkey Kong we known and loved. He is the son of Donkey Kong Junior and the younger twin brother of Funky Kong. He practically the king- well likes to be called The Big Banana of his Tropical island with his grandfathers guides. He does tend to be stubborn and over confident on what is going on but he is a strong leader of his crew.
Funky Kong:
Funky Kong is also the son of Donkey Kong Junior and the oldest twin of Donkey Kong the III. He is a lay back Kong with a passion of surfing and mechanics. He also owns a bar where he serves juices and the good stuff, if you know what I mean ;). Even though he is lay back, he always look out for his brother and his family a lot, even though he doesnt get along with his grandfather half the time.
The Female Kongs (Practically the Girlbosses):
Candy Kong:
Candy Kong is the lover of Donkey Kong. She is a strong and flirtatious Kong of the group, sometimes acts like a mother towards certain Kongs like Tiny and Dixie. She also owns a music store on the tropical island and performs her songs in Funkys bar when he needs help with entertainment. That is how DK met Candy and feel in love with her, beauty and all.
Tiny Kong:
Tiny Kong is the chaotic and energetic Kong of the group and the little sister of Dixie Kong. She is good friends with almost everyone on the island, especially Swanky Kong (since no one likes him that much because he scams them). She looks up Candy Kong as a mom a lot and Funky Kong as a brother from another mother. She also works at the bar with Funky and sometimes cover his shift so that he can sneak out of work for fun.
Dixie Kong:
Dixie Kong is the power house of the female group and the big sister of Tiny Kong. She is also the lover of Diddy Kong. She learned how to fight from Cranky Kong then taught Tiny how to fight when she was young. Now she fights with Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong by their side when trouble occurs on the island, sometimes bring Tiny along in the fight.
Fun Fact
She and Diddy Kong found Donkey Kong Junior in the dark side of the island while they were monitoring the area.
That is it for today, its like late in my time but have a good day or night!
