"Memory Card" theory
I woke up thinking about something silly. Remembering that I've never read the books so my understanding of the universe is based only on what I've seen. But has anyone talked about the boxes and the memories?
In the second season, we discover that the angels in charge liked to play at erasing the memories of angels who acted outside the laws of heaven.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And well, we also know that Crowley has a certain empathy with Jimbriel when it comes to searching for erased memories.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But the funny thing is that Jimbriel says he put his memories in a matchbox (a gift from Beelzebub) and then took it out and put it in the box and then it's everywhere (because it's a fly?).
And where have I seen boxes too?
Tumblr media
I mean, it's very funny that a demon likes plants so much (remember, I haven't read the books), but it's even stranger to realize that he wants the plants in a box, inside another "box" (this is an S2 situation, I mean).
Tumblr media
What am I getting at? The plants themselves have a certain conscience, they are afraid of Crowley from what we saw in season one and not just them, Bentley also has a conscience. They are sentient things.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And if they are sentient because they keep the pieces of memory that Crowley wants to protect? (And as a result they become part of Crowley?)
Plants are super sensitive and fearful, they hold all the memories that could be triggers of this kind for Crowley. "Bentley would follow Aziraphale wherever he went" could simply be all the good memories Crowley has of Aziraphale, which is perhaps why he's so afraid of sharing the car with the angel. And maybe that's why the car easily molds itself to Aziraphale's tastes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We know that both the plants and Bentley are things that Crowley discovered while living on earth, but that doesn't take away the possibility of him using them as memory boxes, in the same way that Gabriel does with the fly that Belzebub gives him as a present.
And so… perhaps the only thing that differs Gabriel from Crowley is that…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
...Crowley never forgot the way to get to Aziraphale.

“It would be a stretch to say Lispector is internationally popular, but there has certainly been a recent surge of interest in her work. In 2009, Oxford University Press published Moser’s biography; and in 2012, New Directions released new translations from four different translators of Lispector novels: Near to the Wild Heart, A Breath of Life, Água Viva, and The Passion According to G.H. New Directions has now published Lispector’s Complete Stories, a collection of 86 works, the first written when Lispector was a teenager, the last just before her death in 1977, in a new translation by Katrina Dodson.”
pulled from this article: https://lareviewofbooks.org/article/found-in-translation-the-complete-stories-of-clarice-lispector/
Perhaps it is the similarity between the title structure of “The Passion According to G.H,” and “Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou” that drove me to write what I am about to transcribe from thought and emotion. Nevertheless, it is a tender observation. When it comes to recounting the beauty found in a creative’s body of work, there is always something that is their magnum opus, the worst one, the one that is clearly just a think piece, one that was a stepping stone for their second best work, etc. There are many different generalized titles generated by academics and those who want to speak out that you can apply in that list. Life Aquatic is most obviously a high-budget film with a star-studded cast, slightly more notably than his other films. There are famous people in them, there are large budgets funding them, but it is demonstrated with a bang and a “wait, is that so-and-so?” mores than his others. When casting judgement such as this onto an author and their writing, it is much harder, especially with classics. With the latter named, those are the classics, the ones that more recent works are inspired by. What inspired the classics? is a daunting rumination, especially to a teenager who read Romeo and Juliet for the first time and was bored with the star-crossed lovers trope. The play is what popularized it, but since it had become oversaturated, reading the play in a hundred years hindsight, makes it slightly harder to be objective about and appreciate.
Although I have not yet read The Passion, I searched what it was about, finding a quaint, spoiler free review, and that made my curiosity grin. Her work, which is highly regarded in Brazil, making her deemed a classic author, references Kafka’s metamorphoses, and other authors, most notably Martin Heidegger and James Joyce. For the Passion to twist Kafka and further elaborate in the work, in a similar subtle philosophical, human-questioning manner. Camus, Lispector, and Kafka were philosophers in the same why that they were writers as well. Heidegger was a philosopher, but the other three named new how to compose a narrative.
Lispector was a classic author, but her weaving of ranging philosophical and religions discussion into her work, not just her novels, but articles and short stories as well. Agua Viva is probably the strongest example when making that distinction. As for Near to the Wild Heart, her first novel, she had said in an interview that any references in that book were not intentional, not yet had she been exposed to the people that would later consolidate and emphasize the themes and intricacies that her words drive to say.
As for her parallel to Wes Anderson, it was worth observing the superfluous terms that get applied to forms of expression and criticism—that is what art is. A long talk can be had about the motivation for art and the ethical parameters necessary or not to make it right or wrong. The discussion of who can reference who and what with a sound reason is also up for grabs. But the pattern of discourse and thoughts articulated about media one does or does not like will never cease, the same as art will never cease to be made. Once more, it is the motivation or lack thereof that is essential.
As Lispector herself wrote, “When art is good it is because it touch[es] upon the inexpressive.”

So I'm leaving work and something darts in front of me, maybe 10ft away, too fast for me to see what it is. Peek around the tree blocking my path and I see this
Tumblr media
Just like... a whole ass hawk. Dude's gotta be about 1.5ft tall. Massive fucking bird. And it's just staring me straight in my soul like this, even as I try to move ahead. It didn't budge. And there's only this path back to my car unless I want to walk on a busy highway. So I have the option of Death By Raptor or Death By Truck.
So I walk in the poison ivy filled patch off the sidewalk. Guy still isn't moving. Still staring me directly in the eyes. And I do this thing when animals are behaving strangely where I'll talk to them, so I'm just like, "Hey, man. I don't know you. You don't know me. This feels really threatening. I'm just trying to get to my car, dude. Can I get some space please? You're a big fucking bird. I see those claws. You could kill me right now, but I'd appreciate if you didn't, ok?"
It didn't move until I was about 2ft away. Again: I'm as far from it as I can be without walking into the street. It clearly wasn't going to budge. I walk past, thing flies up (silent, btw. Scary) and lands on a brick wall a little further ahead
Tumblr media
Anyway. Weird guy. Nearly shit my pants when I noticed a bird big enough to carry off a fully grown cat was just... there, staring me in the face, unwilling to move away from me, a human, something it should see as a threat. I watched behind me the whole rest of the way to my car, just in case this bird decided to help me shed this mortal coil. 10/10 experience. Super cool guy.

"don't make it political!" .... what proportion of death and suffering must occur before politics are involved. if this isn't political, what is even the point of any politics, ever. of democracy. the words are "by the people for the people." if i am going to be left alone by my elected representatives to "figure it out" - to undergo damage, hardship, fear. what the fuck did i elect them for. what was their job. the entire point is that they handle this shit. this is why we were supposed to be electing leaders.
poverty is political. misogyny is political. gun control is political. climate change is political. how much aid a community gets is political. what the fuck are you talking about. it's been political this whole fucking time.

fuck nasty!Ghost who shows you how much he misses you.
You were out running errands, leaving Simon, home from his latest deployment, to his own devices. All was going well—so you thought—until you heard the telltale ping of your phone and saw that he had texted you.
Simon probably needed you to pick something up for him on the way home. Mm. Doable. You opened the text under that innocent assumption.
And you know what they say about making assumptions.
Because right there in front of your very eyes was a picture of underwear. Your underwear. Your favorite pair of underwear. Your favorite pair of underwear you'd been searching for while you were getting dressed this morning.
They were covered in cum. Simon's cum.
You receive another text not even a second later: Miss you, sweetheart.
It was a miracle you didn't drop your phone.

You know, it would be amazing if Hollywood learned the right lesson from the success of Nimona. Something like "Hey, maybe don't throw out a nearly done movie as a tax write off" or "people want queer stories" or even "don't be afraid to take some storytelling risks and be original" but you just know they're going to come away with some absolutely batshit takeaway like, "next time delete all the evidence and burn it to the ground so the gays can't make us look bad!"
