 tu sais
Bisous,
Emma

In this fic Mina Carstairs is living with Magnus and Alec after Jem and Tessa were killed when she was 3. She is currently living in the New York institute with Jace and Clary. Let me know what you think in the comments:
Chapter One: Echoes of the Past
The soft, early morning light filtered into Mina's room at the New York Institute, casting a delicate glow on her surroundings. She lay still for a moment, allowing the voice in her mind to wash over her like a bittersweet melody. "Silly Melon
Mina mine, it's time to wake up."
It was Jem's voice, a voice she had only heard in her dreams. The ache in her heart was familiar, a constant companion since the day she had lost her parents. To soothe the pain, she reached out and clutched the jade pendant that hung around her neck—a precious gift from her father when he had asked to marry Tessa Gray, her mother.
The pendant, cool against her skin, served as a tangible connection to the parents she had never known. It was a reminder of their love, a love that had transcended time and death, and a love that had ultimately given her life.
With a sigh, Mina sat up in bed and brushed a strand of black hair away from her face. She had a long day ahead of her—a journey across the ocean to London, where her older brother, Kit Herondale, now served as the head of the London Institute alongside Ty Blackthorn.
As she glanced around her room, her gaze fell upon the carefully packed suitcase by the door. Mina had been preparing for this trip for weeks, choosing her clothes, gathering her books and journals, and ensuring she had all the necessary Shadowhunter gear. She was determined to make the most of her visit, but there was an underlying nervousness that tugged at her heart.
Before leaving, she knew she had to make one important call. Mina picked up her phone and dialed Emma's number, her fingers trembling slightly as she waited for her cousin to answer.
"Hey, Em," Mina greeted when Emma answered the call. "Hey Mina, Excited about your trip to London?"
Mina smiled, feeling a bit more at ease hearing Emma's familiar voice. "Yes, I am, Em. But I was wondering if I could stay at Blackthorn Hall with you and Jules while I'm there. Kit told me I could stay at the institute, You know how I feel about the London Institute. And Bapak said I could stay his place but he also said that I should call you and see if you’d let me stay at Blackthorn Hall only if that’s okay with you and Jules."
She didn't need to elaborate; Emma understood. The memories of her parents' sacrifice were strong in London, and being alone in the London Institute or even at Bapak’s place, even with Kit as its head, stirred up too many emotions and 'what if’s’ about her parents, Uncle Will, James and Lucie. She didn’t want that right now.
"Of course, Mina," Emma replied warmly. "You're family, and we'd love to have you stay with us. It'll be like old times."
Relief washed over Mina as she thanked Emma, knowing that her time in London would be more comfortable with her cousin and her husband by her side. They chatted a bit more, exchanged details on her portal location at the London Institute , and promised to pick her up once she arrived. She didn’t know how she would break the news to Kit that she wouldn’t be staying at the institute and she couldn’t tell him how she felt just yet.
Just as she was about to hang up, there was a knock on her door.
"Sorry, Em, I've got to go. Someone's at my door," Mina said quickly.
"Sure thing, Mina. Safe travels, and call us when you get here," Emma replied before saying her goodbyes.
Mina ended the call and walked over to her bedroom door, opening it to find her Uncle Jace on the other side. He looked slightly worried, and concern filled his golden eyes.
"Morning, Min," Jace said, giving her a hug. "So your going to London today you ready for it? I know last time things weren’t what you hoped they would be but you know can stay or just call it off.”
Mina nodded, appreciating her uncle's concern. "Yeah, Uncle Jace, I'll be fine and last was different . I've been preparing for this for a while now so I am not backing out. And you know I can portal by myself so I can literally just come back whenever i want."
Jace smiled, though there was still a hint of worry in his eyes. "I know you're capable, but it's my job to worry as your umm how many Great’s was it again i keep forgetting?” She laughed “Uncle Jace please stop with that joke already I’m not your Aunt no matter how you put it.” Jace smiled he would miss her being here “Fine I’ll stop for now but no promises about the twins they just do what they want. Just remember, you can always call if you need to talk or if anything goes wrong."
Mina returned the smile and gave her uncle a quick hug in return. "Thanks, Uncle Jace. I'll remember that.”
With that, she closed her bedroom door and made her way downstairs, her heart full of mixed emotions as she embarked on her journey to a city that held both the promise of family and the shadows of the past.
Chapter Two: Departure
Mina stood in the bustling main hall of the New York Institute, her suitcase by her side. The atmosphere was charged with energy as Shadowhunters went about their morning routines—training, discussing missions, and strategizing for the day ahead. She had always felt at home within these walls, a sense of belonging that had been nurtured by her adoptive family. She had already said goodbye to the twins and George last and night. Since Max was with Rafe and Tavvy in LA she would probably see them when she got back or whenever she felt like portaling to see them.
Her parents, Tessa and Jem, had died protecting her and Kit, leaving a void that no one could ever fill. Mina had been raised by her parents' close friends, Alec and Magnus, who had become her loving and supportive fathers. Their family was unique, a blend of love and acceptance that transcended blood ties.
The pendant around her neck, the jade pendant her father had given to her mother when he had asked for her hand in marriage, was a constant reminder of the sacrifices her parents had made. It was her most cherished possession, a tangible connection to her parents, and a symbol of the love they had for her.
Alec Lightwood-Bane, her adoptive father, approached her with a warm smile. "Are you ready for your trip to London, Mina?"
Mina nodded, her emotions a mix of excitement and apprehension. "I think so, Dad. I just hope it won't be too overwhelming."
Alec placed a reassuring hands on her shoulders. "You have family waiting for you there, and you'll be in good hands. Kit told me he is excited to have you stay at the institute again. Just remember if you need me I’ll be in Idris just call me from the institute’s phone or call Bapak okay."
She appreciated his comforting words and gave him a quick hug. "Thanks, Dad. And thanks for everything, I will if I need to I promise."
He hugged her back tightly. "You're our daughter, Mina. We'll always be here for you, no matter where you go."
With one last embrace, Mina turned to face the portal in the center of the hall. Magnus, her other adoptive father, was there to see her off. His signature cat-eyes sparkled with warmth as he smiled at her.
"Off to London, are we?" Magnus said with a hint of mischief in his voice.
Mina nodded, feeling grateful for Magnus's presence in her life. "Yes, Bapak. I promise to behave."
Magnus chuckled and ruffled her hair gently. "Behaving is overrated, my dear. Just remember to have fun and enjoy your time with family. And do call if need me this time. No disappearing tricks got it."
“I promise i won’t just portal to Shanghai without warning again.” She replied. Mina gave him a quick hug, he hugged her back “You better Silly Melon.” Letting her go she then stepped toward the portal. With one last glance back at her New York family, she took a deep breath and stepped through the swirling vortex, leaving behind the familiar for the unknown.

Heir To The Lands Chapter 5
The Beginning of It All Masterpost
The entire group experienced a collective shock at seeing Emma. Tessa quickly kneeled beside her, drawing her up as she blasted the nearest hunter across the street. The hunter behind the group resumed it's relaxed stance, and it angered Kit. The faerie hunters might be moving in a similar formation, but whilst the group was shielded around him to protect Mina, in the case of the hunters it was clear that the hunter behind the group was the fastest and deadliest. All the other hunters were just a cannon fodder to him. The utter carelessness, that coldness, drove Kit to a white hot rage as Emma moaned in pain as Tessa drew an Iratze on her. It was strong enough to create a similar blast that had blown the Riders away years ago. The hunters were all wildly thrown in the air, but as most landed awkwardly on the ground, smashing their skulls across the pavements, the deadliest hunter made a move mid-air, that allowed him to grab a lantern pole near the end of the street. He landed on his feet, much to Kit's shock. As the group prepared for another attack, the most surprising thing happened; the hunter turnt around and he ran off. Kit blinked in surprise, before everyone circled around Emma. "There seems to have been some kind of fey poison on the blade, we should get her to Catarina," Tessa said as she looked at Jem. "Jules," Emma said hoarsely and Jem hushed her. "We'll portal from Blackthorn Hall to Dimmet Tarn. This event needs to be discussed," Jem swallowed. "I am sorry Kit, it looks like they've found us."
"Julian!" Dru yelled as Jem carried Emma in his arms, craddling her head carefully as they entered Blackthorn Hall. Kit's gaze was a panicked flutter that shot from Emma to Mina, worry for them both as Mina's young fretful eyes took in Emmas injuries and her parents' worried faces. The little girl seemed quite anxrious, and she wouldn't keep still in Kit's arms. Dru felt like she could throw up at the sight. Both Julian and Ty rushed down the stairs at the sound of Dru screaming, and Ty nearly stumbled down as he took in Emma. Julian's face was as white as a sheet of paper when he saw Emma, her face looking feverish from the poison. She was sweating, and her eyelids were fluttering. "We were attacked by faerie hunters." Jem informed him. "We need to portal to Catarina." Tessa walked towards the wall in Blackthorn Hall. "Could you help me set up the portal, Tiberius?" Her voice was kind, trying to help the boy who's hands were anxiously fluttering at his sides. Dru was grateful for her, to be honest she felt like she were pretty close to a panic attack herself. It was as if every minute, every harsh breath that Emma drew, was a minute in which Dru felt like she was getting less air herself. The world was spinning, and she was releved to see Tessa and her brother work up to set a Portal as fast as possible. It didn't take long for the bright swirl of a Portal to light the hallway, and everyone tried not to immediately rush into the light. Tessa went first, allowing the Blackthorns who hadn't seen Dimmet Tarn yet to catch a glimpse of the place, to allow them to take it in so they could visualize it for themselves. As the group left for Dimmet Tarn, Dru couldn't help but feel like this was only the beginning of something, far greater, something far more terrible.
Above the stairs, the panicked Blackthorns left someone behind. She was floating above, taking in the sight of Emma's body, her Ty's distress and Dru's panic. Livvy was consumned with her own frustration, her inability to do anything. The only thing she could do was watch
A light bulb suddenly lit up at the back of her brain, and Livvy took a deep breath. Her idea was going to be dangerous, as she didn't knew how much faeries could see or sense the ghostly realm. But it was her only choice, really. With courage burning inside of her heart, she disappeared to find whoever was responsible for this. It was time for Livvy to go to lands under the hill.

You might think I'm normal but I actually have an unhealthy obsession with the never ending saga of unnecessarily attractive queer demon-slayers who solve generational trauma with swords, sarcasm, tragic love triangles and making-out-in-the-middle-of-war. Or best seller YA series "The Shadowhunter Chronicles" by former fanfic writer Cassandra Clare as some might call it.
I lied. It's not just obsession. It's actually the sole reason I'm still alive.

Do you guys think that Kit sometimes begs for a taste of alcohol 'just to know what it's like' and Tessa has to hide because she can't even come up with a good argument?
Kit: but your son and his friends drank at seventeen! I've seen photos!! I can't believe your children were emptying tequila bottles and you won't even let me have a sip of wine
Tessa: that was the etiquette more than a hundred years ago. They were also married and had their own houses at the same age. I'm not going to enable you
Kit: this is so unfair and sad, alexa play despacito
Tessa: win a war and maybe we can talk. In fact, you can do all the dishes for a single week and then we can talk
Kit: okay, they had servants to do the dishes, and hi didn't you put wards around cirenworth expressly to prevent me from entering a war?? This is an unequal argument and you KNOW it
Tessa: *bangs her head on the wall*

De Emma Ă  Bruce
Cher Bruce,
Quelque chose prend fin, Bruce.
Ça a contrariĂ© Julian.

- Ça te plait ? a demandĂ© Julian.
Oui, ça me plait.
Emma.

I just can‘t stop thinking about the fact that Kit probably partly said yes to living with Tessa and Jem because not one Blackthorn came to check on him when he spent his days in the Silent City after the battle in QOAAD. He probably thought that they all hated him after what happened with Ty. This also gets really clear in SOBH when Julian and Emma visited the Carstairs family:

Heir To The Lands Chapter 3
Closing In masterpost
It didn't take long for Dru to be pulled into a hug by Emma. Dru hugged her back, inhaling her familiar scent. She had truly missed her and Jules both. It was so strange, not living under the same roof as them anymore. Sometimes she felt like she could never get used to it. "Oh I missed you Dru!" Emma squealed as she hugged her so tight Dru couldn't breathe. Despite it all she was laughing. "I missed you too, where's everyone?" "Jules went to prepare you some tea so that you're ready for a very British weekend." Emma said, her voice light with humor. "Neither Ty or Kit and entourage have arrived yet." "Thank the Angel, I haven't missed out on anything yet." Emma chuckled, and nudged for Dru to follow her. "This place has a very spacious dining room, I wonder if all ancient mansion come with them, but our sweetie does." Emma expressed with very fond look at the walls. She had grown pretty attached to the place. It had really became her baby. Dru smiled at her, happy to see her be so in love with Blackthorn Hall. Emma led her to a beautiful, big room indeed. The large table was made of a shining, warm wood that Dru bet her money on being fancy and expensive. It was also very old looking, and Dru wondered if it was part of the furniture that Emma and Jules had restored instead of getting new ones. The tablecloth was lemon yellow, which gave the table a cheerful look. Dru did think the white trays of biscuits and sliced bread that had already been placed down, paired with the cloth, strangely reminded her of Easter for some reason. "Now, here are two of some of my favorite girls." Jules teased as he entered the room, a tray with teacups and a vintage looking kettle resting on top. Dru smiled brightly at her brother as he placed the tray carefully on top of the table. "You know, you'd make a very sexy waiter." Emma remarked as Dru fake-shuddered. She sat down on one of the soft looking dining chairs, just as the doorbell rang. "I bet those are Kit and co. I'll let them in," Emma said as she left. Jules poured Dru some tea, hoping for the best for this weekend.
Anyone looking outside, could see Jules' hopes were in vain. Ty had made the tiniest miscalculation at the very last second, still distracted with his and Anush' tinkering on the sensors. They definitely were close to perfecting a sensor that had a sensory function for each species, the ultimate sensor. Which is why he had landed in the garden shed of Blackthorn hall. By the time he had made his way out of the gardenshed, he could see Kit and his family approaching from the gate. Worst timing ever. Mina sat on Jem's shoulders, using her position to spy on every little detail and Kit seemed to be in covesation with Tessa. Ty wondered how he could navigate this situation the best way possible, and by the time his mind had gone over all the ideas, Kit had already spotted him. Fuck. Kit's relaxed posture looked a bit strained, but not as strained as Ty felt his own body growing with the tension. Tessa, with a gentle hand on Kit's shoulder, seemed to slowly drag him alongside her to where Ty was standing, Jem not too far behind. Kit gave Ty a strained nod, before he went on ahead to the doorbell. He rang the bell, as Ty stood around awkwardly with the Carstairs-Grey family. It didn't take long for Jules to open, and to see Kit in front of him, and to see Ty's fingers fidget frantically as Mina seemed to want to reach out towards him. "Welcome everyone, to the opening of Blackthorn Hall!" Jules greeted, inviting everyone in so he could wedge himself between Kit and Ty. None of the Blackthorns except for Dru, truly knew what had transpired between Ty and Kit other then they could clearly see there was a fall-out between them. Jules at least wanted to find a way to fix things between them, as Ty had so obviously had gotten attached to Kit and he could imagine Kit didn't wanted to lose their friendship either. He led the group inside, and Tessa especially seemed to eye everything with particular interest, having known the original Blackthorn Hall better then Jem did. Her eyes glided over everything fondly, seeming to sparkle whenever she recognized decorum they had kept from Rupert's time. That made Jules' clearly happy, anyone could see his chest puffing with pride over his new, beautiful home. Mina stared at everything curiously, having already seen Blackthorn Hall as a work in progress. Her little kiddie brain was going over every little detail she saw was changed, and looked at them with childish wonder. Ty also allowed himself to get lost in the new details, almost in an attempt to mask the way he felt from himself even. Kit entertained himself by listening to Tessa and Jules' conversation, until the group came to a halt by the dining room. Both Kit and Ty smiled at the sight of Emma and Dru, who hadn't been able to contain themselves from keeping their hands off of the breakfast. Dru smiled sheepisly with a piece of bread smeared with jam in her mouth. As the group seated themselves onto the table, the opening of Blackthorn Hall had truly commenced. None were aware of the sounds of hooves not too far away from the edge of London, and none of them would be, until it was too late.
