Mary & George thots

I watched all 7 episodes this morning starting at 4:30am on about 4 hours of sleep so here are all of my very sleep deprived but professional opinions. Also, I read the book The King's Assassin by Benjamin Woolley so i have Extra Opinions

(spoilers and lengthy thots beneath the cut)

These are not going to be in any specific order because I can not be bothered (see: me being up since 4am on 4 hours of sleep) and as a blanket statement I loved the show!!!!! Most of the things I will say are going to be neutral statements relating to differences I saw between what I read in the book and what was in the show. These are not good or bad things, just observations! I think it's fun and interesting to look at the things they changed to make it more interesting and palatable for a tv viewing audience, and I don't think it changes the quality of the product at all! With that out of the way, let's get on to the content:

we'll start with the things I loved

NICHOLAS GALITZINE. Like. HELLO??? I am very familiar with his work (watched everything he's been in and recorded a podcast about it) and I know he's been criminally undervalued in almost every project he's ever done but this really, really tested his limits and I mean that in a very good way. You can tell this whole project was a test of his abilities as an actor both physically and mentally and he really rose to the challenge in such an impressive way. I'm not really sure if this is ever going to be Emmy/awards fodder (if they meant it to be they released it at a very poor time but thats a different discussion for another time) but I do think this is going to lead to some very interesting places for him. People (important decision making ones) are going to see this and realise what his abilities are and this is a very good thing.

The costumes are so incredible. The details, the colours, the cuts, the CAMP. I'm not a costuming expert so I have no way of knowing how accurate any of the costuming was but damn did it look good.

On that note the CAMP. Oh my god. This really had that je ne sais quoi that makes something camp in the way only queer people can make something camp, so really hats off to everyone involved in the production value.

I should mention all of the actors here, including Julianne Moore and Tony Curran. I am biased, being that I now seem to only exist to consume Nicky G media, but everyone did such a great job.

The script is so complex and rich, I really don't envy the actors having to memorize some of the tongue twisters that were part of the dialogue.

I think they did a really good job of crafting George as a character. As someone who is predisposed to love Nick's face (lol) I really did feel a bit of hatred towards him sometimes. I found him embarrassing, hot headed, full of himself, and pitiable, sometimes all within a few scenes!

Let's talk about some of the big changes I noticed

they really REALLY made up about 95% of Mary's storyline, I would say. This is just going off the King's Assassin, mind you, but from what I learned about Mary from that book is that essentially her only role in the course George's life took was the initial bit: sending him to France to become a learned gentleman, and sending him to London to try to catch the king's attention. If anyone has any recommendations for sources about Mary's life I could read about I would be very interested in it in order to piece together more fact and fiction! In general, I would just assume the vast majority of Mary's storyline did not happen, but it was fun though! One thing that is mentioned in the book is that her and the king did become good friends.

I really missed the use of nicknames from James. I guess it was hard to show most of them on screen as a lot of them appeared in letters they wrote to each other when they were apart, but James often referred to him as "Steenie" referring to St Stephen who apparently "had the face of an angel", amongst numerous other nicknames such as wife, dog, and child etc.

I also really wish they had included this famous speech of King James' to his privy council, because it is burned into my brain I can literally recite it word for word now: "You may be sure that I love the Earl of Buckingham more than anyone else, and more than you who are here assembled. I wish to speak in my own behalf and not to have it thought to be a defect, for Jesus Christ did the same, and therefore I cannot be blamed. Christ had John, and I have George."

I think they sort of removed some of George's abilities in order to make him rely on Mary more to involve her character in the storylines. In reality he made all of his own political decisions, knew how to play the king without help if he needed, and was a competent (if not terrible and easily swayed by bribery and trying to level up his own interests) member of the government

One of my favourite things to learn from the book is that when George took a wife (which, I believe in reality he was all too happy to marry in order to secure his possessions with an heir) she was welcomed by the king with open arms. King James became besties with Katie and he considered her as sort of part of their "family". In general I think they played up the "jealousies" from King James.

While it is alleged that George did kill James, it was not by asphyxiation. According to the book, he was suffering what is now known as malaria and had a violent fit, thought to be brought on by a "medication" George gave him which was provided by a doctor but actually administered by George, which is what ended up finally killing him

In general I wish the end hadn't felt so...rushed? Maybe it only felt that way because I know how it actually plays out and maybe if I rewatch while not trying to think about real life events so much, it might feel less so. But the whole issue with Spain took up such a small amount of time in the show when in real life it was like...a problem spanning multiple years. And I know they obviously can not show all of that within a 7 episode television show, it does seem like maybe they should have left it out altogether if they weren't really going to see it to its full justice?

My other small complaint is that it felt to me in some parts that the love between King James and George wasn't there. Certainly it feels to me like perhaps George did not feel the same level of love towards King James as the king felt for him, but the king certainly felt so much love for George. There were multiple instances outlined in the book in which they were "on the outs" because George started ignoring him in favour of Charles, or for other reasons, and it seemed to really tear at the king and he seemed to often be the one reaching out to George trying to keep his love close, rather than George trying to rein the king back in under his power. At that point, George had all of the power he needed and the king was so passive and loved him so much, he stayed the king's favourite until death, and George had very little to worry about in that regard.

There! That's all I can think of for now, and I think this has gone on quite long enough. I feel I need to rewatch the show and try harder to not think about real life situations and just enjoy the story. The fiction in the series is greater than the fact but I still think it's fun! And I recognise that there is a need to dramatize things greatly because the way things really played out in reality would not make good television at all. I hope no real history scholars find this post, and if you do please be gentle with me! I am not really an expert, just a history fan (even though I do find myself wanting to quit my job and become a George Villiers scholar).

SO YOU'RE TIRED OF BATMAN: AN INTRODUCTORY GUIDE TO DC SUPERHEROES

one of the most common things i hear when trying to get people to read comics is that they're just not that into batman. which boggles my mind! not because i'm a huge batman fan -- which i am, but i can understand why people might not be interested in his comics -- but because it's insane to me that batman (or superman, or wonder woman, or any other dc superhero they've made a movie about) is people's default perception of dc superheroes.

there's a whole world out there! and if you're intimidated by the big superheroes, or uninterested in their stories, or even if you like them but you're looking for something different, this is the guide for you. without further ado, i present:

DC MINUS THE BIG THREE: A FIELD GUIDE FOR THE DISENCHANTED AND DISINTERESTED

DOOM PATROL (1987)

to nobody's surprise, doom patrol is first on my list of recommendations. it's a comic book about a group of disabled people who have been labeled freaks, weirdos, or otherwise undesirable by society, coming together to save a world that doesn't care about them because there has to be beauty in it somewhere.

good for: well, i'll let the introduction quote do the talking. “remember when all the other kids on the block had superman and batman as positive role modes? well, if you could only identify with a human brain in a metal body or a guy wrapped up in bandages, and if you grew up weird, welcome home. you’re among friends now.”

2. HELLBLAZER (1988) BUT ONLY THE FIRST 41 ISSUES OK?

hellblazer is a 300 issue long comic book, mostly comprised of dogshit stories by dogshit writers. i am recommending it because i genuinely think the first 41 issues are art. please do not do as i did and read all of hellblazer. you won't survive the experience. ok? ok.

hellblazer is a comic about aging punk magician/occultist john constantine trying desperately to sort out his life in late 80s london while constantly being beset by poor life choices, poverty, and also lots and lots and lots and lots of demons.

good for: punks, anarchists, fans of the occult, enemies of aleister crowley, anyone who has a personal vendetta against margaret thatcher.

read hellblazer here, BUT STOP READING AFTER THE FIRST 41 ISSUES OK? trigger warnings for: literally almost everything you can imagine, but specifically discussions of child sexual abuse are prominent in the original sins run. also, it was written by a white man in the 80s, so it suffers from "white man in the 80s" syndrome.

3. WILDCATS (1999)

"FERRIS", some of you comic book knowers cry, "WILDCATS IS WILDSTORM NOT DC". to that i say Shut the fuck up DC acquired the rights to the wildstorm universe it's close e-fucking-nough.

wildcats 1999 is about cole cash (a conman and ex-special ops man), hadrian 7 (an alien robot posing as a human named jack marlowe), and noir (a bisexual ex-arms dealer from france who talks in the third person) picking up the pieces of the OLD wildcats team after they all found out they were soldiers in a war that ended before most of them were born and nobody bothered to tell them, and trying to 1) run a company and 2) save the world.

good for: people who hate the military, tacky sci-fi fans, anyone who wishes guys would suck more, anyone interested in the horrors of war.

4. SLEEPER

"ferris i want to leave wildstorm" too fucking bad. we're talking about sleeper right now.

sleeper is about holden carver, an undercover agent in the world's largest underground crime organization/network, who gets stuck undercover when his handler (the only guy who knows he's undercover and not just a traitor) gets shot and put in a coma. it is about grappling with your own morality, losing faith in your ideals, and (like most wildstorm properties), how war is a pointless exercise in horror.

good for: fans of spy thrillers, evil women enjoyers, evil men enjoyers, anyone who has ever thought they could make someone worse, people who want bad things to happen to people in power.

5. THE AUTHORITY (1999)

stop crying we're almost done with wildstorm. the authority is a comic book about 6 super-people (who are very loose parodies of the justice league) forming a self-described "anarchist cell" to operate against the wishes and outside the influence of earth's governments to defend the planet against extraterrestrial threats and handle human rights violations.

good for: political science fans, good sci-fi enjoyers, people who think batman and superman should have kissed instead of making a million movies, people in polyamorous six-ples.

6. SUICIDE SQUAD (1987)

hey, remember how i was talking about wildcats? imagine the same sort of themes of wildcats (the horrors of war, the effects of being in the military, american imperialism, what it means to be a hero or even a good person), and then apply them to the worst group of people you've ever had the displeasure of being in the same room as, and they all fucking hate each other. suicide squad is about a bunch of incarcerated villains being "recruited" (forced) into working hero-missions for the government, because nobody will miss them if they die.

good for: villain apologists, people who (in the immortal words of hack/slash) think "there just aren't enough big mean women in comics", and this guy:

7. STARMAN (1994)

starman is a story told with the drama of a theater production about jack knight, a late-20s to early-30s punk antiques dealer who gets the mantle of starman (a well-known superhero from the golden age) thrust upon him suddenly. it is a story about legacy, family duties, identity, and most importantly about being kind of a loser who gets shot at all the fucking time.

good for: sci-fi fans who are too proud to admit they also like fantasy, rock opera listeners, family disappointments, single fathers.

8. ARKHAM CITY: THE ORDER OF THE WORLD (2021)

"ferris you said no batman" i did. i did not say no batman villains.

arkham city: the order of the world focuses on some of batman's lesser-known foes, and the fallout of arkham asylum collapsing. i can't really explain it more than that, but it is good and legitimately unnerving at times.

good for: horror fans, enemies of the psychiatric system, villain enjoyers, people who live in new york city.

9. THE SHADE (1997) and THE SHADE (2012)

hey, remember starman? want a series about the old immortal victorian man with an "ambiguous sexuality" from it? okay. the shade (1997) follows his origins: specifically, his long-standing beef with one specific family. the shade (2012) is a sort of cross-country whodunnit as the shade tries to track down who is trying (and failing) to murder him.

good for: bisexual enjoyers, dramatic theater kids, vampire fans, goths, people who would have fucked lord byron given the opportunity.

10. METAL MEN (2007)

lastly (but not least), a comic featuring will magnus from doom patrol. metal men (2007) is... a complicated story. it's about robots? it's about being mentally ill. it's about a guy who is so divorced forever. it's about being a little loser guy. it's about time travel, and terrible relationships with your brother. it's hard to describe. but it's fun.

good for: bad sci-fi enjoyers, people who can understand the timeline of looper, robot fans, anyone who has ever been consumed by a desire to create.

BONUS:

not included in this list because batman is there, i encourage everyone to have a look at the original justice league international series. it is a superhero comedy. it is silly and stupid and i love it.

Okay, someone commented this on my last post & I’d love to continue the conversation.

Reminder: this is just an opinion and I don’t mean to offend anyone 💗 I am not offended or bothered by this comment, I just want to share my opinion. We can all have civilized discussions and it’s okay to disagree!

1. Very true! He HAS claimed to be the founder! They even refer to him as the founder of the brand on instagram posts, promotional videos, and on the update messages they send. But I also don’t understand how him not actually being the founder affects anyone. Literally at all. The world kept rotating, our hearts are still beating, literally no one is going to die over this. It’s fine.

2. Prices vary for multiple brands, not just his. It’s up to you whether you’d like to splurge on something nice or not. Personally, I couldn’t justify the purchase because it’s CHAPSTICK. But, I do spend more money on other items such as foundation (Rare Beauty) or even lipstick/lipgloss (Fenty Beauty). At the end of the day, when you add this item to your cart and type out your card information, it’s your choice whether you actually purchase it or not. Sure he’s advertising his product, but never is he forcing you to finalize your purchase. I’d like to add that you’re paying for the brand and the name associated with it, but if you would just like a chapstick. Just a regular ole chapstick. They sell some (like I said) at CVS and Walmart that do the job just fine.

3. Nowadays it’s very difficult and rare for ANYONE to have a completely original idea. I’m sure he never claimed to have INVENTED chapstick. Instead, he INNOVATED on a preexisting concept alongside a group of professionals (cause let’s be honest you need a team to guide you, especially when it’s your first project) to reimagine and conceptualize his idea. There are actually a variety of aspects that make his product unique. For one, it’s bigger than most chapsticks you find at the store. Secondly, it comes in extremely unique flavors. And lastly, it dispenses differently. So, no, he didn’t “create it all on his own,” but I’m sure he put in the necessary amount of brain power to MAKE it his own. Let’s take a look at other brand owners such as Selena Gomez and Rihanna. Selena and Rihanna didn’t INVENT makeup, they just made their products unique and that’s what people fell in love with. These celebrities have teams working alongside them to fulfill these dreams and ideas, but still work as the FACE of the brand. Nick did and is doing the same thing.

3. I think it was obvious that his brand and product is owned by a company. Unless Nick and his brothers had enough money to literally build a whole factory, gather materials, and then go through the process of hiring an entire staff of employees before ever actually creating and finalizing a marketable product, then yes it’s obvious the product is owned by an outside company. Everyone needs someone to help give them a kickstart, almost like a ‘sponsor.’ Surely none of us believed Nick was actually cutting pineapples and creating chapstick flavors in a secret lab.

4. I can’t speak on the ‘false claims’ this company has made, but even then: a lot of companies find loopholes. Either that, or they lie by omission. And a lot of companies OWN other companies. It’s just business.

5. If you feel personally exploited by Nicolas Sturniolo (he’s literally just a YOUTUBER) because you VOLUNTARILY purchased overpriced chapstick, then I’m sorry to break it to you but you have 1st world problems.

At the end of the day I’m just here to write and read fanfiction and these are just OPINIONS. Take them how you will, disagree if you want to, but cancel culture is gross. Let’s focus our efforts on positive things & if you truly feel the need to scratch your cancelling itch, cancel someone who actually did something wrong. Lol just love each other guys.

Hi!!! I meant to post this earlier but my summer class started and I've been busy 😭. Fun fact: past fics with "I Won't Say I'm in Love" had people telling the TWST boy or Yuu that they are in love. Who did I use for Azul? It would have been the Tweels but it is actually Azul himself! 😂 I hope that you enjoy, anon!

Notes: Yuu is bold, mentions events in Book 3, 4, and 6, and Azul having an internal crisis

Azul did not like the Ramshackle Prefect. Not in a romantic sense. Why would he? It's not like she stayed in his head rent-free for the past few days. No, he was thinking about how to get her to work for him for free.  

He was not jealous that, according to ADeuce, the Prefect was spending time with Prince Rielle from RSA. How did they meet? Azul will never know, but one thing has been bothering him. SHE decided to have their date in town rather than in his perfectly established restaurant that was only a short walk away!

Azul set his pen down after signing the last contract of the day and stared at the ceiling. He recalled the first time he saw the Prefect during the entrance ceremony and how her cat monster set the room on fire. He did not care much about her then since his focus was on this year's profits. 

His indifference changed when he wanted her dorm as a branch of his restaurant. Did he leave her homeless? Yes, but within good reason. He no longer wanted that embarrassing photo of himself hanging around the Atlantica Memorial Museum. How did she get so popular to get close to Leona, of all people? If only she and her band of Savanaclaw members did not get in his way. Azul's hand clenched into a fist at the thought of the pesky lion disintegrating his hard work. This was the only time he truly disliked the Prefect.

Of course, that backfired back on her when she got trapped in Scarabia by Jamil. Azul could not hide his smug look when she pleaded with him for help. He, being benevolent, acted like her knight in shining armor to save her (read: it was Jade and Floyd that did all the work) as the damsel in distress. 

Azul hummed in thought when he realized something. The Prefect was less of a damsel and more like a knight after she broke into the Isle of Woe to save him and the rest of the overblot guys. 

It was only after the whole fiasco that Azul slightly liked the Prefect.

Did he get any romantic feelings during the process? No, he did not.

Why should he, anyway?

She was nothing more than a magicless human. A reckless one, in fact. 

If anything, she should be the one to develop feelings for him. 

Azul knew multiple ways to charm the girl. He would start by treating her to deals in Mostro Lounge. Then, he would do different favors for her, like give her a study guide or serenade her with his lovely voice. Finally, he would be the one to save her from different incidents (orchestrated by the Leech twins); she would fall in his arms and for his charms. 

She would fall for him so much that she would be at his door on her knees, begging to be his girlfriend. And Azul, being oh so benevolent, will agree.

Azul smirked. There was no way she could not resist him. 

"You're amazing as it is, even without stealing anyone else's powers," Yuu's voice called out in Azul's mind. 

Ba dump

"What the?" Azul clenched his chest. He could feel his heartbeat increase under his fingers. Why were the Prefect's words coming back to him?

"Your incredible diligence is so rare, it left the headmage at a loss," her voice continued to sing to him.

Ba dump

It has been months since their interaction at the museum, where Yuu had uttered those words to him, leaving him at a loss. Azul was touched by them, but he had put it back in his mind after the trip. Now they suddenly emerge and haunt him while he thinks about the Prefect.

Wait.

The Prefect. 

Azul suddenly sat up and ran his hands through his wavy hair. Why did he care about the Prefect being on a date? Why was he setting up a scheme to have her begging to be with him? Why are her words echoing in his mind like a mermaid's song?

Azul's eyes widen in realization. A long time ago, when he was still a crybaby octopus, his mom told him a story about how a mermaid princess sang to a prince after she saved him. The princess had to leave before the prince gained consciousness, and he made it his mission to find her. The princess's voice was so beautiful that the prince would play his flute at night using the same tune in hopes of finding her because he loved her. 

He was like the prince in the story. 

He loved Yuu. 

Azul took deep breaths to calm his wild heartbeat and wiped his sweaty palm on a handkerchief. He might have realized it now, but he won't say it out loud. No, he would continue his plan once Yuu returned from her date. The male leaned back in his chair and let out a sigh. He had to remain with his suave nature around her. 

The room was quiet as Azul was deep in his thoughts.

CRASH

Azul immediately stood up, "What the?" his eyes landed on the door wide open. Yuu stood in the doorway with the Leech twins smirking evilly from behind. Only a few seconds passed, and Yuu was now standing before Azul. She grabbed his hand and proceeded to drag him out of his office-

Wait a minute.

"What are you doing?" Azul sputtered out, his face now red.

"We are going on a date! You and me."

"But I thought you were supposed to be with Rielle?"

Yuu shook her head, "He was just showing me around, and we're only friends. Besides, I'm only interested in octopi anyway."

Azul's mouth opened in shock, "How did you? When did you?"

"The twins told me. Now hurry up before the shops in town close!" She dragged the poor housewarden through the doors and out of Mostro Lounge. 

Meanwhile, the Leech twins could not hide their laughter. 

"Have fun, you two."

"Don't hurt Shrimpy now!"

Tolkien Thoughts, 14 Year Old Niece Edition:

So, no one in my immediate family has any particular interest in Tolkien BUT I’ve been making some progress with a 14 year old niece who liked the movies and agreed to give the books a try. She’s here this week for the holiday and so I’ve got an honest to goodness family member in the house who can and will talk LOTR!

I absolutely love to hear her takes on things, both those where we agree and where we differ. So far, she has expressed the following opinions:

1. Book Aragorn “needs to take it down a notch on the whole heir of Elendil thing.” She vastly prefers Movie Aragorn, whose humility she respects.

2. Legolas was her favorite in the movies, and he’s doubly so now because “he had a lot more to say” in the books. She particularly seemed to enjoy Shit Talking Legolas who constantly reminds his friends how young they are and repeatedly rubbed it in everyone’s faces that he wasn’t afraid when they were all having a dark night of the soul at the Paths of the Dead. (She did not pick up Gigolas vibes on her own but enthusiastically endorses the concept now that she knows about it.)

3. She had absolutely no use for Tom Bombadil but, after hearing about Gigolas, she is now considering whether Gandalf and Tom might not be a good pair.

4. She read Sam and Frodo as a romantic relationship without any prompting from me or anyone else and was shocked to find out that not everyone reads it that way. She believes anyone her age would read them as queer by default.

5. She was bothered by the repeated idea that some men have better/higher blood than others, which really offends her as a concept. That kind of soured her on Gondor in particular (though she makes an exception for Faramir) since they’re the ones that are held up as the people with the best or noblest blood.

6. Tho she strongly disliked the setting of different categories of men in hierarchy against each other, she’s fully on board that the elves are better than everyone else. She also cannot understand why anyone is attracted to the dirty, sweaty humans when there are beautiful elves RIGHT THERE. (Obviously this is a point where my influence has fallen woefully short, as I can’t get enough of a dirty, sweaty human. I tried to convince her that she is missing out on some truly amazing dirty sweatiness:

But she can’t help it, she’s got Samwise Gamgee levels of elf worship.) She was interested to hear that Tolkien’s got another book that revolves much more around the elves and their doings, but she’s not sure she wants to read it if there are “elves behaving badly” in it because she wants to keep thinking of them as noble and enlightened and sad. I didn’t tell her about Fëanor as a result. Maybe when she’s 15…

So anyway, we’re doing great over here. She’ll be in town for 5 more days and I hope to get as much more out of her as she’ll tolerate in that time!

Opinion on gen 2. Either as a whole or individually if that’s more your speed

I think Gen 2 is probably the closest generation to each other. For Gen 1, a byproduct of the large cast size, the writers have to leave some characters to the dust, which creates a feeling that Gen 1 is not one group but rather multiple in-groups that occasionally interact. Gen 3 simply does not have much variety interaction, and with how much of the interaction that is there is negative, I don’t feel that anyone short of Jasmine Shawn and Sammy would interact post production. Gen 4 honestly feels like a high school class, yeah plenty of them are genuine friends and some will probably stick together in adulthood, but are ultimately not that involved with each other as a whole.

Gen 2 feels a bit like a family. Not exactly in the sense that’s how they describe each other, but that despite their differences and annoyance with each other they’re all very used to and accept each other.

Sure, Zoey wants to shove Scott to the ground a lot of the time, but that’s just how Scott is, not much to do about it. I think we as a fandom feel very privileged.

1/6) The power to scroll is something we all have access to. We can do it when we see something we don’t like (that isn’t a human rights violation), and this also works with opinions. This is not the place for yes-men or for people to only agree on things. There is going to be conflict, differing opinions, straight up not liking each other (it’s not illegal, it’s life, regardless of whether or not we like it, it happens).

2/6) But the majority of us are over 21 years of age and I believe it’s high time we start behaving like it. There’s ways to go about those situations while being respectful and people really need to check themselves at the door. Posting up in someone’s anons is not the way to go. I understand not everyone will agree with me on everything, and you don’t have to! Just as I don’t have to agree with you.

3/6) If it’s virtually harmless, let people have their differing opinions. Just because you don’t like it, doesn’t mean it’s harmful (if it is, that’s a different matter). It doesn’t kill me that people don’t like something (again, something that’s harmless), even if I do. They simply don’t like it. And that’s that, they can say it as much as they want. Just like I can say I do like something. Even if it’s not what they want to hear/read. They can scroll, and so can I. Works both ways.

4/6) But I also understand that it’s extremely easy for people—who don’t mind something—to say general things like I don’t know why it’s hard for others to ignore it, they don’t have to be bothered, because you’re not the one bothered by it. I understand this because this is how I used to think before shit started happening to me, it’s really one of those until it happens to you things. It’s always easier to say stuff like that when you’re not the one in whatever distress over it. The same goes for drama, it’s so stupidly easy to say you don’t know why people get involved when it’s not you getting dragged into it or a subject you’re passionate about being tossed around inappropriatly. Being bothered by something means no matter how hard you try, it’s still there in your head nagging at you. That’s the whole point of the word.

5/6) This isn’t aimed at ANYONE in particular, this book has been out for like a day and a half and I have seen NUMEROUS and COPIOUS amounts of back and forth over it from different people. All of you are right! You’re right to like it, you’re right to not like it. That’s the thing about opinions, they’re right to you. And you can talk about it however you want so long as you’re not threatening to ruin someone’s life over it or something.

Hello! I just completed the 5some scene witb Halsin and Astarion and I dont really have anyone to comment this with I hope you dont mind me dropping here real quick to say [SPOILERS]

So... he just dissociates no matter what? I completed Astarion's quest and I could swear that meant he wouldnt dissociate in the scene. But I think what bothers me the most isnt even the dissociating itself but the lack of response from the Player Character. I just LET him?? I dont comfort him, I dont stop the whole thing in its tracks??

And its the only way to get Halsin's backstory?? Am I doing something wrong? I feel so conflicted about the whole thing. Opinions? Thanks for reading this far if you have, sorry for any inconvenience!

I don't claim to be the best source on Astarion lore or on his storyline consistencies/inconsistencies since we're like a bitter divorced couple, I can't talk about him without getting slightly annoyed. But,

I got that exact same scene (5some) after Astarion's story conclusion. To me it makes sense that he's still distant - we fixed his Cazador situation but we didnt fix his sexual abuse issue because he never brought up the trauma. I'm assuming you didnt romance Astarion ang got this scene? For me, a non-Astarionmancer it made sense, since he never told me about his intimacy issues in the first place. But if that happened to you, and you romanced him, then I can still understand him being distant in that moment. He's not that into sex with other people and you just asked him to perform in front of 4 others. I can see how he would default to an auto-pilot. But that's assuming you did romance him. If you didn't then there's not much to be surprised about. He's tired of performing seduction.

To me, it's not that big of a deal that the PlayerCharacter doesn't respond to catching Astarion drift away. Without romancing him and learning about his baggage PC at best can only assume that Astarion is not into sex due to his past of sleeping with his victims and that possibly bringing up bad memories. Since the narraror line about him being distant during the encounter was only a brief mention (narrator mentions PC and Astarion catching eyes for a moment, any further descriptions of his performative behaviour are a general description of the scene since nothing is visible, not necessarly describing what the PC is seeing).

What! I! Fully! Agree! With! You! Is how Halsin's mega traumatic backstory is only ever accessible through a hidden option (i wouldn't even call it a mission, just a random NPC conversation) in Act 3. That conversation could have been naturally implemented into the (currently bare-bone) Halsin romance route. This is why I'm still screaming about letting the players have access to Halsin as a companion in Act 1 already, so that he can go with the PC to the Underdark. That could lead to him having some flashbacks to his time there, and perhaps slipping in some titbits during idk the exploration of the wizard tower in the underdark and him seeing the chain mounted to a wall and that bringing up some nasty memories?? Like the story writes itself, it's all there but I'm guessing the devs had better things to do then flesh out their fanservice and fan demands. Like adding Halsin as a romance options SHOULD HAVE BEEN a post release thing !!!

My opinions are more or less summed up here. It's ass that an abuse victim such as Astarion gets all the special treatment and a catharsis while Halsin, who also went through a traumatic experience doesn't. He actually laughs it off. But that's okay, people cope differently. So why not have us explore his backstory more? Well, it's crunch of course. The devs had no time to put love and care into Halsin even tho him being a romance option/companion (so those conversations about his past wouldn't come up) wasn't even on their initial goal list, just something a few discord people suggested.

I feel like the writers had too much on their plates and too little time to make sure inconsistencies in character motivations/ reactions, backstories don't occur. But we should all be happy Astarion got all the attention he deserved. Oh, you're saying there are other companions in this game too? Since when?

But as he grew older, he discovered that feeding pigs was a normal thing to do, but he realized that he'd rather feed a real person, this idea continued to grow in his head over the years because he can’t stop thinking about that, that’s what he likes and he can’t change it. When he moved away from the countryside and his family to study with 2 of his friends, he realized that he would have a hard time adjusting to life here. Everything was different from where he'd grown up, and his hidden passions had to remain well hidden if he doesn’t want to be considered strange. He had moved in with two of his best friends, Younghoon and Chanhee, who were both in a relationship, so their flat was divided between the couple who spent their time together and him, who didn't know how to live with his fetish in mind. On the contrary, he also liked going out and studying to become a teacher, but when he found himself alone, it occurred to him that being with a couple would not be an easy situation for him, because he was feeling alone a lot.

The day everything changed for him was the day he found Sunwoo asleep on the sofa with food around his mouth and an empty ice cream tub on the table. So the next day, at Sunwoo's breakfast, he hurried to prepare something for him, and when Sunwoo got up he came across a table full of food: rice, eggs, kimchi and waffles of varying degrees of success.

"What's the occasion?" Sunwoo asked.

"Well...I realized that we hadn't properly celebrated your arrival...so I’m made this !"

"It's going to be a lot just for me, don't you think?"

"Uh...yeah...sorry..." Haknyeon lowered his head, and sunwoo looked at him, smiling tenderly.

"I'll do my best to taste everything anyway!" He said as he sat down at the table before starting to eat what his friend had prepared. "It's delicious! You're a great cook" said Sunwoo as he popped the waffles into his mouth. "You'll give me the recipe!"

"I can also...make you some...every day..." said Haknyeon shyly.

"Only if you're there to help me finish..."

Haknyeon widened his eyes and nodded, telling him he'd do his best. After that, every morning Hakneyon prepared his breakfast for him, taking care to feed him as much as possible, preparing whatever came to mind and then watching Sunwoo devour his food in mouthfuls. It all seemed so unrealistic, but it was real. He had practically become his feeder, even if they hadn't explicitly discussed it. Days passed, then weeks, and the two men got used to this routine. One evening, Haknyeon decided to tell his friend.

- Binnie, you were right! I followed what you told me and it worked!

Binnie

- Did it? You got yourself a nice little piggy?

"Its me Haknyeon! Are you ok?"

He then turned the door handle before entering the bathroom. He found Sunwoo shirtless, trying to put on his pants, or rather unable to fasten them. He looked down at his belly, which had indeed become far too big for his pants, which had swollen and fallen slightly over his pelvis, and his pants were unable to fill the space created by his belly. He also looked down at his chest, which was now much more visible, and his love handles were also much larger than before. No wonder he couldn't fasten his pants any more, Haknyeon thought to himself. Then he realized that if his body looked like that, it was because of him, and this idea really turned him on.

"I can't close my pants! I don't understand, a few days ago they still fit...they're the only ones I've got left..."

"Oh...we can go and buy you some more...it doesn't matter..."

"Haknyeon!"

"Uh...yes?"

Haknyeon then put his hand around his waist, gently caressing him, which only made Sunwoo realize that he was much larger than he thought. Haknyeon then ran his hands over his chubby cheek, not forgetting to stroke his new double chin, and smiled at him.

"I hope you're hungry!"

"Always!" He then followed him into the kitchen and hurried to his seat.

"Get ready for a big meal my little piggy."

Every day, he could feed him and touch him, rub his belly, and watch him become a little more of a pig, since he had experience with real pig it was more easy to understand human’s body and knowing where to touch Sunwoo to make him feel better. Sometimes it seemed as if pleasure was taking over everything, and Sunwoo couldn't even answer simple questions when he was too busy eating. The changes on his body were more and more visible: yes, his pants weren't fastened, but his oversized sweatshirts weren't, and his belly even protruded from them; his thighs also grew in width, and his slight double chin was now the most visible part of his face. There were also changes in the way he moved: as he grew so quickly, his movements became more limited, and everyone could see the way he waddled when he tried to walk. Every day, Haknyeon fell a little more in love with him, and Sunwoo felt overwhelmed by everything he was given. One evening the two men were cuddling on the sofa, Haknyeon lying on Sunwoo's belly.

He then continued to take bites again and again, feeling himself getting heavier and heavier, feeling the sweat running down between his breasts and his belly becoming more and more swollen despite the massage he was giving him. Haknyeon watched him eat with admiration, Sunwoo saying nothing, though he knew he was enjoying every mouthful.

"I...can't anymore..."

"Of course you can! Look you ate more than half!"

I hope not bothering you but I felt compelled to ask some questions about your guy Taliesin (he looks fabulous btw and judging from your answers to other asks he seems quite sweet). Please forgive me if I'm repeating any questions that have been asked before.

How exactly does the LDB meet him? In the trailer it looks like he was injured...does the Player save him from something/ someone?

He is or was Thalmor and well...they aren't very well regarded because, you know, they're basically Fantasy Nazis. Does he carry those extremist views? The whole "Altmer are hot shit and anyone who worships Talos is a deluded heretical cultist" thing? Surely not to that extent? I did see that he was curious about other races, does he have any specific dialogue for Nords? I'm pretty sure Thalmor Justiciars have dialogue about wanting to enslave all Nords. What does he say? What about Talos? Will he say anything if you bring him near a shrine of Talos? Especially ones that you find in the wild where the Thalmor have massacred the worshippers/ priests there. In fact, what is his whole stance on the Thalmor/ is he still part of the group?

Does he have any specific dialogue about you being Dragonborn? Does he react to any of the DB's dragon friends like Odahviing/ Durnehviir/ Paarthurnax etc? I think it was kinda hinted at that he doesn't like how Delphine treats the DB, or was I reading too much into that/ reading it the wrong way?

Overall he seems very nice, if a little insufferable (meant affectionately). Is he very affectionate towards the Player at all? If I could get Skyrim mods then I would get him and the other Custom followers. Unfortunately I'll just have to watch his tag like a hawk. Maybe you could post more videos of him? 👉🏻👈🏻🥺🥺

Taliesin has a bit of a "First he's sour, then he's sweet" personality. He's still a smug Mer who's not afraid to tell you how he feels, but he won't openly try to hurt feelings.

So funny you should mention that Shrine of Talos where people have been killed....because that's where you find him! He got injured in the scuffle and is in a state of shock to heal himself. You'll have to push a bit, but eventually he'll let you help him.

2) So Taliesin's stance on the Thalmor is complicated. He was raised to fear and obey them, joining their ranks was considered a true honor in his family. He doesn't agree with their views, but he follows because that's what is expected of him. Disobedience often resulted in 'reeducation' or 'punishment missions' and he's gone through this a few times. When he's with the player, he's able to drop the act and be himself, he's able to ask questions he's never been allowed to ask. However, some old habits due flare up from time to time, he'll pride himself on his pure Altmer bloodline or huff and remake on why the player brought him to a temple of Talos. But his dislike for Talos is different from what the Thalmor think.

3) The only time Taliesin refers to the player as Dragonborn is during the Main Story quest. A lot of players (myself included) often like to do playthroughs as someone other than the Dragonborn, so I'm keeping it ambiguous for how he refers to the player. He has a lot of respect for Paarthurnax, he views Paarthurnax as a kindred spirit. A being who rebels against his true nature, much like how he does against his home and race being in the Thalmor. And yeah, he does NOT like Delphine at all, especially after sending the Dragonborn into the Thalmor Embassy.

4) I think affectionate is the right word for it. He respects the player after they've helped him, despite him being a Thalmor and them, his enemy. He likes to tease them on occasion as well, such as if you go visit the temple of Dibella or just the Main Story quest in general. It's an amusing ride for him and he wants to see it all!

Hope it's not a bother to ask, but since you seem highly well-versed in IDW Megop... have you (or anyone) made a kind of Megop-focused comic timeline or a chronological rec list for what comics to read if you want to get into IDW Megop? Sorry if there's one already out there that I'm missing. I'm new to the Transformers franchise (haven't even ever watched the Bay movies) and I've chaotically been watching different things, but what I've read and seen of IDW Megop seems fascinating.

Your Pay Unto Evil was one of the first fics I got recommended for getting into the ship, actually. I read that with zero knowledge of any kind of Transformers canon and it made me cry at 4 AM after I couldn't put it down, so just... many thanks for writing and sharing all your amazing work!

No, not me nor any of my mutuals have made a timeline for IDW MegOP. If you're interested in it though, I'd definitely start with Chaos Theory + Police Action (The Transformers 2009 issues #22-23) as that's literally Peak IDW MegOP Being Gay Old Men for each other. It was also literally the first thing I read of IDW1 myself, hahaha.

And then to get more IDW MegOP, I would recommend just...reading more of the comics? Because the thing about IDW MOP is that it's not like, say, TFP where Megatron and Optimus interact frequently and get a lot of cool teamup/fanservice/etc moments together. IDW MOP is the kind of MOP where they get a few key moments together, and the rest of their chemistry just comes from...... the way they think about each other when they're apart, the way that each other's actions as leaders/people affect the trajectory of each other's lives, the respect and easy casualness they have with each other despite their position as enemies. There aren't really many "ship" moments like "oh, they have this conversation together that's super gay" except for Chaos Theory, rather it's a ship where you have to read between the lines a little and observe the way they interact with each other/talk about each other to see the chemistry they have together. And in order to understand the significance of those interactions/thoughts/reminders between each other, you have to actually read the story as a whole and understand the things that contextualize IDW Megatron and Optimus' close orbiting of each other.

As pretentious as this sounds, IDW MegOP isn't the kind of ship where you can point at a few moments in canon and go "here's proof they're gay for each other/have romantic chemistry," it's more like a bunch of reading between the lines and thinking about their histories together and coming to the conclusion that these guys are so fucking intertwined together.

And that's really one of the main appeals of IDW MegOP to me; it's that, tragically, they never really GOT chances to interact with each other as people and mostly existed as diametrically opposed military/political leaders. They have parallel character arcs that involve rising as heros, falling into villainy/moral grayness, and coming back up into some semblance of goodness. They share a lot of the same grief about the pointlessness of the war and the way they're individually, uniquely responsible for things getting as bad as they did.

Their personalities and struggles are similar enough that they're basically two sides of the same coin, where you see a few of the same core values (desire for justice/equality, passion, anger, keeping emotional distance from others) and it makes you go "IDW Megatron and Optimus are basically the same guy, just put in two completely different life situations and fucked up by what happened to them and the shitty messages they got from their mentor figures." And in the end it creates this really tragic version of MegOP where you feel like they COULD have been great together, if the trajectories of their lives and their fatal flaws hadn't conspired to separate and pit them against each other at virtually every turn.

It's not something that I could really recommend specific series or issues to you, it's just an overall vibe that IDW MegOP has. That being said, I and my mutual @quetzalpapalotl have a lot of good posts about IDW Megatron, IDW Optimus, and IDW MegOP (mostly she has the good posts, I just babble shit on my blog and post fan fiction) that could possibly intrigue you into reading specific series?

I’m seeing everyone talk about plot holes and inconsistencies in HOFAS. I read the book very quickly in another language and so I don’t really remember these. What are some plot holes in HOFAS?

One thing that’s been bugging me is, probably the only hole I caught, is the concept of limbs growing back for the Vanir, but this doesn’t happen in TOG or ACOTAR. Now that we know the Fae of Midgard are exactly the Fae of ACOTAR, and the Shifters are exactly the Fae of TOG, and it doesn’t seem like any type of evolution has occurred to change the Midgard Fae at all, im confused how regeneration is a thing. I suppose it’s never directly been mentioned in TOG. But Lucien is missing an eye. That faerie in book 1 ACOTAR had his wings ripped out by Amarantha and died from it. We know angels can regrow theirs. I know Cassian and Azriel have their wings shredded and healed at different points, but to me that seemed more like skin regrowing after being damaged rather than whole limbs regrowing. Idk, these things dont bug me severely but it is noticeable…

When someone drops from the sky or whatever and tells you that your whole world might be re-invaded and you have a history with these immensely powerful creatures who want to come back to your planet, asking 'may i look into your head' is just fucking dumb. 15 thousand years is a long time, but the amount of history that the Fae lose in that time is kind of dramatic. They conveniently remember nothing about their beginnings or anything that's connected to their past. But it doesnt make sense that they would forget because they live thousands of years. That time span could be only 4-6 generations. So their 15k is equivalent to our 200 years. We DEFINITELY know what happened 200 years ago. Like between Rhys and his dad alone, it's 1,500 life span. If grandpa High Lord lives for 2K years before, and another great-grandpa for another 2-3K years, we are REAL close to 15K. But no one remembers shit.

They dont even remember who built Velaris.

So for 15K years, NO ONE, not one person bothered to go on a walkabout in Hewn City, to check out all these walls with all these stories on them. It took Bryce to drop in and just miraculously look at a wall and see the entire history of prythian just like that.

personal mphfpc recap since i finally finished reading all the books

spoilers for the entire mphfpc series ahead. this will mostly be me talking about the book's imperfections, because when i love a piece of media, i also love criticizing it to its core

so, i first read the books 1-4 in 2020 and i was SO obsessed!!?? i wasn't really into social media and fandom culture back then, so i didn't really have anyone to talk to about mphfpc and i remember being very sad about that. i also remember trying to make fanart of the characters, but i REALLY sucked at art back then and to this day i find old mphfpc drawings and cringe at them. maybe it's time to redraw some of those...

anyways, i read the fifth book when it first came out in germany and i kind of hated it lol. i was really rushing through it, because i couldn't wait for the fugh reunion. so i kind of missed out on the whole plot because i only cared about fiona and hugh.

basically, i recently finished rereading the books, because nostalgia or whatever and i'm kind of obsessed again. so...i'm just dumping some thoughts on the whole series here because on tumblr i can actually find ppl with mutual interests.

first of all there's literally SO MANY inconsistencies and plotholes?? what the actual fuck ransom riggs. idk how much of this is prevalent in the og books, because i mainly read the german translations, but sometimes riggs just forgets who hugh is i guess?? he mixes up his and horace's peculiarities once and at some point he is referred to as howard. who the fuck is howard. these are literally the most easiest mistakes to fix. does he not have an editor?

i'm not even gonna talk about the movie. i have a whole seperate post for it

it sometimes bothers me how only certain characters seem to serve a purpose. in every novel emma, enoch, millard and bronwyn are clearly the focus (besides jacob) despite the fact that the other characters are equally interesting and likeable. hugh, horace, claire, olive and obviously fiona are just NOT THERE for like the entirety of AMOD. are you kidding me

the entire second trilogy...is kind of a cashgrab. of course i'm happy we got more books and i liked them, but it's kind of obvious that the author simply had some pictures left and saw an opportunity to make some more profit out of them. that's not bad, but these books weren't necessary for the overall storyline.

the thing with the prophecy in DODA...the entire book was dedicated to finding the other lighteaters, but they don't really do anything in the end?? i kinda get why noor has to be the *main character*, but why introduce julius and sebbie when everything could have played out the same way without them?

julius and horace...is it really that hard to age julius down? it would've made that a lot less creepy. there is literally no reason for julius to so much older than horace. not sure if this could be considered queerbaiting, since i don't know a lot about that topic. would be grateful if anyone elaborated more on that.

hugh and fiona are still my favorite thing about these books THEY ARE PERFECT IN EVERY WAY AND DESERVED SO MANY MORE SCENES UGH. i don't need another jemma kiss i need FUGH. there is just so much potential and plus, we never really get to learn about their backstories?? like we know that they're from the 1840s, so how did they get into a loop a century later?

how was fiona able to *whisper* to hugh in DODA, she literally had her tongue cut out, hello?

so many characters with lots of potential either die or just disappear. lilly, sam, althea, peter-and-joel...ring any bells??

the photos are so funny sometimes, because at times there will be a photo of, say, emma and in the next book there will be another picture of her and she just looks like a different person. because,obviously, that's a photo of a different person. but apparently, ransom thinks we're too dumb to notice that.

i would just love it if there'd be storylines that focused on each character individually, because again, WASTED POTENTIAL

Okay so this MIGHT be weird but I had an idea for a very different version of Underverse that I wanted to share with someone??? I’m never gonna do anything with it (if you end up liking anything from this, as a prompt or idea or story or anything like that, feel free to take it!), but it’s one of those things I gotta get out, you know??? Hope this isn’t a bother!!!

Anyways, basic idea involves borderline platonic yandere Blue and Dream for Ink (because I’m a sucker for it, blame the prompt on AO3 that mentioned the idea), so for his “own good,” they’re the ones who ended up working with XGaster (I’m not sure how they’d meet him- maybe they went to help him that first time instead of Ink, because he was busy or something?) to cause the X-Event. I imagine that their whole reasoning would be them hoping XGaster being a creator in his own right would give them a way to get Ink out from under the thumb of the ones Ink normally has to deal with- Maybe they think there’s a chance the Overwrite button can do something? Or hell, maybe the reason is as simple as wanting to give Ink a soul and believing XGaster has the means to help them. I’m not actually sure!

Just. I don’t know? The idea of Underverse turning into one giant festival of suffering for Ink, as he gets hit with one betrayal after another from people he thought he could trust (Cross, Dream, and Blue). Then Error destroys the Multiverse, and everything just… Keeps falling apart from there.

Again, hope this isn’t weird or a bother- But I’d be interested in hearing what you think of an idea like this, or seeing where you’d take it, or anything like that. Either way, take care, and thank you for reading!!!

Anon, the only thing that's a bother right now is the fact my parents never told me they made another pot of coffee, so there's about half a pot going to waste. With that being said, I'm sorry if this is poorly written because I'm like. Running solely off caffeine from like 4-5 cups of coffee and stress from schoolwork. I was gonna wait to answer this until tomorrow morning, but then I remembered that I'm done work for the day and I have nothing else to do until I randomly go to sleep at like midnight, so.

I feel like I've said this a hundred times before, but even if I have, I'll say it again: I have a thing for platonic yanderes. I don't know what it is about them, but for some reason, I just love them. That goes for yandere characters in general, but that's not the point.

I'm gonna take this one at a time, hopefully it'll help me keep myself organized and I can actually form a coherent idea for once.

I find the idea of Dream and Blue meeting X-Gaster in Ink's place very interesting!! I'm a bit of a stickler for the idea that Ink would never endanger the AUs for whatever reason, no idea if that's canon or all, so this actually works in my favor. I haven't watched Underverse's early episodes in forever (don't think I ever even watched the X-Tale series, oop-), so my memory of why Ink made the deal with X might be a bit muddled.

Anyway, I think it's very believable that those two would want to take some of the workload off Ink's shoulders. They're supposed to be a team, let them help! Ink's a bit reluctant, not just anyone can do these kinds of jobs, but they're so eager to help... oh, alright, fine, you can take the job- but if anything happens, they need to inform him right away! They're absolutely going to do that, no doubt about it, 100%. (They have no intention on doing that)

Anyway, I think their intentions would start out genuine. They really just want to help Ink! They see how overworked he is and he's just one person, it's not right to make him shoulder all this responsibility. The two are wary of Creators due to some unfavorable members (if they found out 1/4 of the stuff I do to Ink for the sake of an AU, they'd have a bounty on my head), so they're not about to let Ink go and meet with one face-to-face. (Again, I have not been refreshed on Underverse lore, so if there's inconsistency I'm. So sorry) He seems to have good intentions, but they're still wary of him.

Actually, here's a potentially interesting idea: Dream and Blue don't start developing into yanderes until after meeting X. Something I usually go with is X-Gaster having his own kind of fixation on Ink, though not necessarily in a romantic or even platonic sense. He admires Ink's power and role, and the two pick up on that- especially Dream. And neither of them like it.

With that being said, I think it's inevitable that Ink would meet X himself at some point. Dream and Blue keep pushing it off, telling him they can handle it, but at some point he puts his foot down and goes to meet X. I think it'd be too complicated to have him not meet him, or maybe this will come back to bite me in the ass, I don't know!

But I'm glad you mentioned that they could be the ones who cause the X-Event, Anon. Using my stickler thing from before, Dream and Blue wouldn't have the same innate sense to weigh the pros and cons for the other AUs, or the AU itself. Sure, they have their moral compasses, but power corrupts people. Power leads to greed, as does greed lead to a hunger for power. And X can be very persuasive when he wants to be, I'm sure. I don't doubt that he would use their fondness for Ink to his advantage (hope I wrote that right), telling them that he can do so many things in return for their help: he can experiment and create Ink a soul of his own, and then he won't need those pesky Creators anymore.

(Or, maybe even better, X-Gaster dangles the possibility of "freeing" Ink from his duties as the Protector. He hints at the possibility of using the OVERWRITE to change Ink's Code, removing his connection to the Creators. All such tempting ideas... they only want what's best for their friend, don't they? Would they really pass up such an opportunity? So many possibilities to play with!)

I think this whole idea can lead to an interesting but painful story of Dream and Blue's obsessive behavior worsening, escalating to the point of becoming full-fledged yanderes. They can't let Ink know the truth about what happened with X-Tale! If he found out they've been keeping things from him... that they had a hand in what happened and what's now happening... oh... oh, he would hate them, wouldn't he? He'd want to stop being their friend! He- he'd leave the Star Sanses and he wouldn't work with them anymore! They can't have that! They can't live with that! They... they won't let him leave them like this!

This could lead to SO MUCH ANGST MATERIAL. Like- imagine the kind of stuff that would go down between Dream and Nightmare! Nightmare can sense so much guilt and shame from Dream, which is so... intriguing! And Cross would probably know about his involvement, considering X-Chara, and Nightmare would eat. That. UP! Dream, Mr. Hugs-&-Smiles himself, being linked to an entire world's devastation? Well, it wouldn't be the first time... (Apple Incident references go BRRRRR-)

From Ink's perspective, the story's probably escalating into a horror story tbh. Like you said Anon, he's getting one hit after the other: an AU was destroyed during the Truce, one betrayal after another, finding out about X-Gaster's madness, Dream and Blue going from liars/backstabbers (or whatever term you wanna use for them) to obsessed yanderes that would do anything to keep him to themselves, Error destroying the AUs... I haven't even talked about Error yet!

For once, I feel there isn't much to say about Error. I was going to say something about him being a yandere, too, but I felt like it took away from Dream and Blue being platonic yanderes. He would either be relishing in Ink's downfall or he'd be like "Damn, that sucks".

Ah, and now I raise another proposal: X-Gaster betrays Dream and Blue. This might be a given, but hear me out! X sticks to his proposal of using the OVERWRITE on Ink, but instead of cutting his connection to the Creators or giving him a soul (or whatever else he filled their heads with), he turns Ink into a relatively mindless weapon at his disposal. This would basically be the equivalent of Ink being blank in Underverse, but he's extra ruthless because X is the one in control.

I'll just let y'all soak with that idea at the end.

(Quick addition: Imagine a kidnapping scene. Let that cook.)

Looking at the post, I think I got everything I wanted to. Again, sorry if this is poorly written or not very cohesive. It's very late for me and I'm very tired, but I know I'm not going to sleep for another hour or so lol. "What is he like?" The words come from Noah's mouth without too much thinking. 

It's almost time for the sun to rise while they lay together on the messy bed, nothing to cover their naked bodies as they feel the cool breeze coming from the opened window. They talked all night long about the most random things like their favorite foods and funny tour stories but Noah couldn't stop thinking about the fact that someone broke Nori's heart to the point that she totally closed herself. He didn't want to touch on such a sensitive subject but curiosity is almost killing him. Nori seems to be so strong and hard to knock out that Noah finds it curious that someone could make her feel so weak.

"Who?" She asks, brushing her feet on his calf as they face each other.

"The guy you told me about". 

"Well… He's tall, but doesn't have as many tattoos as you. His hair is light blonde shoulder length, blue eyes…".

"Is he a singer?".

"Yep".

Noah giggles at her reaction, it seems that she isn't bothered to talk about the Finnish blonde singer with blue eyes. She is trusting him enough to tell him about her feelings.

"You are very different from each other. He's like a vampire, there's always darkness surrounding him. And you are like the sun… You bring light" she says. 

"Do I?".

"Uhum" she approaches him.

The feeling of Nori's lips slowly touching his own makes Noah sigh. He never wanted anyone so bad in his life and now he finally can have it, taste her tongue swirling around his mouth while he grabs her by her waist trying to get her closer. Looking deep into her eyes he feels lucky to have her, even though he doesn't have any hope that this will happen again.

Nori feels different watching Noah. Now that she knows what he is capable of doing, she wants to do it again. Seeing him on stage, singing with his heart and soul makes her sigh, the scenes from the last night repeating in her mind. The fact that she slept in the same room as Noah didn't raise any speculation on the bands and crew. Her bandmates actually would not believe it if she said she had sex with him the whole night. They know what she had been through with the guy she fell in love with and how this changed her personality when it comes to relationships - even the most casual ones. 

The band starts to play Nowhere To Go and Noah knows that it's Nori's favorite. He tries to watch her and focus on the audience at the same time but she caughts his attention every damn time that she is there, swaying her hips in such a very sexy way just like when she was riding him - a memory that brings a large smile on his face and he can't hold it. She knows that he wants to stop everything so he can sit and watch her dance for him and that's why she makes sure to show her dance skills, the sexual tension between them growing in a level that it's almost driving them insane.

The last thing that Noah would want to do is to disappoint his fans, so he spends some time throwing guitar picks to the crowd and saying goodbye. When he gets the chance, he goes straight backstage, urging to find Nori like a hunter after its prey. He walks fast towards a small and dark corridor that leads to the exit, probably a place that only the employees from the venue tend to go. He sees Nori standing there near the exit door, her back against the wall as he plays with some locks of her hair. She smirks when she sees him, lust in his eyes as he walks slowly this time. 

"You found me" she says.

Nori opens the door of a small room that seems to be a deposit. There's no light but they can see some stuff like paper boxes, cleaning products and a table with some small boxes on. She quickly pulls Noah inside, kissing him while she tries to unbutton his pants. Her despair makes Noah laugh, he feels proud to see what he has done with the Finnish singer. 

"Take this shit off" she grunts. 

"You're too desperate, angel. I'm the one who should be acting this way, you were teasing me a few minutes ago, shaking this delicious ass of yours" he grabs her buttcheeks and leaves a loud smack, making her giggle. 

Noah quickly grabs Nori and puts her on the table, spreading her thighs so he can fit between them. "It was a great show, the crowd was amazing".

Of course everyone finds it weird the fact that Noah can't stop smiling and is full of energy like he has been electrocuted or something. He tries to act normally but he is pacing while he grabs a bottle of water. He drinks the whole bottle like he was lost in a desert for a year. 

"You have never been this happier on this tour" Nicholas says. 

Noah and Nicholas have been best friends since forever so they both know each other very well. It's better for Noah and Nori to hide their relationship a little bit more if they don't want anyone to find out.

Nori's phone keeps buzzing all night; the text messages don't stop coming. Her roommate, Auri, wonders what's going on with her friend. The singer can't stop smiling while her face is glued on the phone's screen, giggling every 2 minutes while Auri tries to sleep. 

"Aren't you going to sleep? It's almost 2 a.m." the bass player complains. 

"I will" Nori doesn't pay too much attention to her friend.

Noah and her are chatting for a few hours non-stop. Nori loves how funny he is and how he can make her laugh with the silliest jokes.

"Who is it?" Auri asks.

"Nobody". 

"Then why are you smiling like a fool bitch?".

Nori is feeling a huge desire to share with someone what's going on between her and Noah, but she doesn't know if it's a good idea. At the same time, Auri seems the perfect person to share her secret with: she won't judge her, won't tell anyone and won't make a fuss about it. 

"Do you promise you will keep the secret?" the singer asks, sitting on the bed.

There's not much emotion in Auri's reaction, which makes Nori relieved. She wants to deal with this naturally and not make a big deal about it. If she had told Lara or the drummer Maila they would freak out. 

"I'm really surprised. Of course everyone noticed that Noah is very into you but I would never expect that you would reciprocate". 

"Me either. I don't know how to explain what happened to me". 

"I just want you to be careful, okay?".

Of course Auri is talking about what happened between Nori and one of the singers from Blind Channel, Joel Hokka. She knows how her friend got hurted in what was supposed to be "just for fun" sex and nothing else. 

"I know and I thank you for caring about me. But this time is different. Noah is different. What I feel for him is a huge affection, I like him as a friend, a real good friend and we are very physically attracted to each other. Have you seen him smiling? Damn! And he is so hot, his body is perfect. I just know I can trust him and that's why I like him" Nori says.

"But what about him? How does he feel about you? Are you sure that he is not feeling something else for you?".

This is enough to invade Nori's thoughts and make her lose her peace of mind. What if, this time, she is doing what Joel did to her? It would kill her slowly if she hurt Noah's feelings, she doesn't wish for anyone to suffer like she did, especially such a good person like Noah.

"Are you talking with her?" Nicholas asks, not taking his eyes from the tv screen.

"Her?" Noah pretends to not know what his friend is talking about.

"No…".

He knows that Nori asked him to not tell anyone about their thing, but Nicholas is his best friend and he trusts him more than anyone; he would put his hand on fire for him. 

"Yes, it's her. But, please, don't tell anyone" Noah says.

"So… what's happening between you two?".

"Oh!" Nicholas interrupts him "I got it".

Nicholas is right. Noah needs to be careful when it comes to Nori's feelings. He knows what he feels for her: an extreme animal attraction mixed with a lot of affinity. He feels the need to take care of her like he does when it comes to his most special friends and he knows he can trust her. There's only good feelings inside of him when it comes to Nori, but there's nothing strong enough that he could define as love. He just hopes that she feels the same way.

First impression: i actually had skipped the battle subway in bw so when i played pla, my first impression on meeting ingo was "this guy is coded like a cameo from another game. not sure which one tho. anyway he looks like a stuffed animal that went through the washing machine by accident and i just know there is a certain sect of lesbians on tumblr who are going to want to put him in a bug jar." and i was right on all counts. i'm ngl my first emmet impression was probably largely based on fan content before i actually went back to see the canon stuff so it was mostly "damn, giratina (arceus?) should Not have separated these two"

Impression now: DAMN, THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE SEPARATED THESE TWO. ingo is my special lil guy who is duty oriented until it kills him and very competent and unreasonably polite which are all character traits that do in fact make me, personally, wanna put a dude in a bug jar. emmet is. my guy my man he's me he's my everything i'm incapable of talking coherently about him.

Favorite moment: gotta be the only time i have ever bothered to go through the hassle of exporting a whole video clip from my switch when ingo loses to the protag in your first battle. he is so happy about it... when else does he smile that genuinely... waaaahh...

Idea for a story: uh hmm the problem here is all my story ideas are in my pinned or my pitches tag lmfao. i guess one thing i've been rotating is it would be fun to do something else with the oop-canon thing where neither of them fully remember each other but also don't have a ton of spare time to interrogate the situation, bc i think it's a fun take. some other scenario where emmet doesn't even remember that they're twins, they're just both like, "alright, you look exactly like me, that's goddamn weird, but fuck it, we've got bigger problems so let's just work together for now." i like how quickly they fall into lockstep without knowing why. i think it's fun

Unpopular opinion: i know i've said it before but LET THEM KICK ASS! for real! they are hypercompetent pokemon trainers who also manage the cat herding business that is a subway system that doubles as legal wrestling tournaments. they're probably stronger than most gym leaders, if not the elite 4, just by virtue of how much battling they're constantly doing against such a variety of opponents. they're clever and capable of very quick thinking in a wide range of situations and very capable of both reading/understanding and guiding/managing others. they should not be losing to FUCKING WILD POKEMON in basically any scenario. they should be so hard for anyone in hisui to rattle bc none of this is NEW to them. they're just built different. also let emmet specifically be a competent adult i am on my knees begging you

Favorite relationship: can i say each other, is that cheating. i feel like that's a given. it's just good. they are on the same wavelength and ready to back each other up basically all the time and not even getting smote by god itself can change that. OTHER than that i'm a big fan of them w/ the surveyfam. lav and cyllene specifically i think they would all make a fun squad together. fuck, this is what i shoulda said for the story idea section. i want to expand on that like, 5 sentence thing from a while back where they were both in jubilife together along with the protag in a similar situation, bc i think that's a fun idea. kamado's headache is never going away ever again

Favorite headcanon: hmmmmm shit i have too many to choose. does asj qualify as a single headcanon or is that too expansive. oh, this is a random thing, but i still really like the idea that they're like, roxie's uncles or cousins once removed or something, through their birth family that they largely avoid interacting with other than a few people who are mostly chill. they're VERY different wrt personality but roxie's got this unexpected responsible streak when she's arguing with her dad, i think it makes for a fun connection.
