The atmosphere wasn't something she expected to like if only because she was so used to a specific kind of aesthetic from most places in New York, but the wooden interior and warm lighting gave it a warm and homey feel that felt comforting. "Are you working here because of that or because you genuinely enjoy working here?"

the words don’t sit right with ochako, even if they came from a place in katsuki’s mind that let him believe the meaning behind them. she shifts against him, almost uncertainly. compliments --- she was never good at receiving them, especially when she feels differently. 

“ ... eh? ” comes the response, hazel eyes flicking up to meet his from where she lied on his chest. ochako’s eyes search his briefly, just for a moment before she blows a stream of hot air out of her mouth and shakes her head, curling further against him. “ worthy of what? ” the question’s rhetorical, the gravity hero doesn’t expect much of an answer. but knowing her boyfriend, he’d be sure to give his own opinions, regardless. so, before he can, she just keeps talking. 

“ it’s not like i’m some star of our class. i’m not like... you, todoroki, or deku.. you’re all so very strong and getting stronger every day. ” she snorts, shrugs, and takes a piece of brunette hair between her fingers to play with, concentrating on that rather than the murderous gaze she’s sure she’s about to get, “ unless you consider yourself worthy of having a mochi-loving girlfriend, i’m not sure what else you could be referring too.. ” 

all this talk of feeling worthy, and of all the people in their class he could have given his heart too, he chose.. her. some days, like today, ochako questioned that. what made her so special? why her? surely, there were so many other people he could take an interest in? she was just .. ochako. the girl that slept in too long, got average grades and was.. awkward and unsure. the girl who wants to help: but she struggles to do so, and has to have other people help her.. instead. -- save her. ... when she doesn’ need saving.

there were so many other people that could be here at katsuki’s side. what did he see? ochako wasn’t like deku: the kindest, and sweetest person she’d ever met that would go out of his way for anyone at the expense of his own body. todoroki, who sure-- questioned a lot of things, but was perhaps one of the most skilled fighters she’d ever met! not to mention, his conviction and will. kirishima-- well, he’s everyone’s best friend, isn’t he? especially katsuki’s. his bro, someone he can talk, laugh, and play video games with. not to mention, the rest of their class. all of which, she fell.. behind. picking up the pieces and trying to catch up, figuring out her setbacks, while they continued to push on ahead. would.. she be left behind?

---- where did she fit into katsuki’s puzzle? ochako shifted again, and this time, she pulled away from his arms and left a space between them on the sofa. her gaze was fixated at the tv in front of them. the news was on. there was another report about the league and about.. toga. ochako’s hands balled into fists as she listened to the reporter’s account of yet another murder, and ochako shut her eyes, almost tiredly.  

“ how can i make you feel worthy? how? when i’m still so... ”   weak.  looking at her hands, ochako didn’t realize how much they had begun to shake. when ochako lifts her head again, meeting crimson she swallows hard, exhales heavily, and starts again. “ please just-- don’t say things like that, okay? not now, anyway. ” ochako looks back at the tv, at the picture of toga and her lips fall into a thin line. “ not until i’m able to do something to really prove it to you. ��
