my initial idea was that they are survivors of the student uprising in 1832, but with a twist. then I went on to choose the 1860s because the third French Republic hasn't come about yet

in the 1860s, france was living the second French empire. I'd think enjolras'd be pretty livid about this (esp because of a president-turned emperor), but the trauma of 1832 kinda changed him fundamentally.........

the poll I posted earlier had a result of 100% for "yes". it's on whether enjolras should lose an eye. somehow their mirrored lost eyes complete each other but at the same time they dont

grantaire was originally going to hold a hyacinth flower but since I thought that would be too Obvious I scrapped that idea to keep the subtlety

grantaire's coat is the colour of wine bottles. I'd like to imagine he stopped drinking after 1832 June to sorta "punish" himself (survivor's guilt) by maintaining sobriety, but in this the green on his coat symbolises his past self. hes wearing his old shell

the red flag (symbol of the revolution) being draped across both their shoulders imply a shared burden (of what? hmm,...)

I've thought about other Beast x Ancient fankid, yeah. But to be honest, I can't really see the other pairs with kids. To elaborate:

Dark Cacao is already a father, and his son is already an adult, at that. I think he's had his fill of raising kids by now (especially because he already didn't do the best job with Dark Choco. He'd probably worry he'd fuck up the next kid, too). I can't really see Mystic Flour wanting children, whether that be because she doesn't see the point or because she, too, fears that she would fail as a parent. It's easier/more suitable for Flour to accept Dark Choco as a son and for him to accept her as a mother figure imo. Best of both worlds: you can have a kid, and the kid is already grown so they don't need raising lol

Same deal with Hollyberry tbh. She's already a mother, she's already had her time in that world. Her son is a man with his own life and accomplishments; her job is done and she wants to relax now. Now that there's a heavy implication that Eternal Sugar is fond of children (and perhaps even wanted to be a mother herself), I think... she would've wanted to have a child with Hollyberry, and would be kind of sad that Holly doesn't agree. But she would make peace with it. It helps a lot that Pepper Jack and Matar Paneer are around, honestly; she loves being an auntie. They both do. And that's enough for them

Shadow Milk and Pure Vanilla... That one's tough. I don't think Shadow Milk would be a good father tbh. He's already a deadbeat to Black Sapphire and Candy Apple, you know? Lol. Pure Vanilla is the opposite, he adores children and is great with them. I can see him wanting one with Shadow Milk; worrying it wouldn't go well, but wanting it nevertheless. The thought of having a happy family with his other half is an enticing one, even more so seeing their friends have one of their own. But it's a "two 'yes's" thing and Shadow Milk keeps saying no... It's the HollySugar dilemma but in reverse lol. The Ancient wants a kid but the Beast doesn't

Silent Salt and White Lily are the closest ones to that ideal imo. It's something Silent Salt sometimes dares to daydream about, even. But they're both so afraid, so nervous... They already think so little of themselves in general. They'd probably assume they'd be the worst parents ever. (They'd do just fine lol.) For now, they're content being Auntie Lily and Uncle Salt. But maybe someday...

None of them would be canon though, save for the last two 😅 but you're all welcome to ask about them anyway, if you're curious for some reason. (having a thought) yknow i always think abt that moment where X says he gets invited to a lot of parties actually. considering his nature you'd almost think he isn't that social bc they're quite meek and docile but the thing is. a lot of characters like X because they are very friendly too. so it's interesting to me that X stays with Four despite them being fairly mean, when clearly other characters like them a lot. it wouldn't be hard for X to make new friends because pretty much everyone who they meet likes them. so... why do they stick around? sure, loyalty is probably one reason. but I almost wonder if X is drawn to Four for being someone who doesn't immediately treat them like this sweet, soft character.... Four is willing to be blunt towards them when no one else really will because of the way they view X. and I think that's part of the reason why X stays. Four's confidence is something they are trying to learn from and is something they slowly do gain more of.

and that goes for Four as well. X is everything Four struggles to be. both of them inspire the other to try and change and grow. they are both learning from each other and becoming more like the other as the show continues on. okay im done having thoughts now
