I'll admit i havent fully fleshed out everything surrounding the actual life series events wrt hunger au worldbuilding, but my general rough idea was that Grian, at the end of his rope, asked some friends to sign up for a fun new game in another server-- then fucked with their memory codes so they didnt quite remember it right when they got there. Everything was very hazy, because Grian was rushing and on the very edge of basically a starvation-fueled fugue state-- the lifers could remember that they knew each other, and how, but everything outside the games felt very dream-like and hazy, slipping through their fingers like fish in a stream

He did manipulate things so that the lifers thought they were going to permanently die after their red lives, yeah. I think it was both direct meddling with their memory codes, along with social engineering built on top of their existing paranoia about the situation, that did it-- Grian was basically running around just fucking with people the entire time each game was happening.

As well as himself, actually-- normally, Watchers dont get directly involved in the conflicts they create. Thats not a part of their feeding strategy. So Grian was basically like... yknow like how sometimes you can immerse yourself just a little TOO well in LARPing or acting??? Grian was basically frogboiling himself as well, just marinating in the atmosphere of fear and horror he'd helped create until he started to believe it too. Pretty much all of them were in altered states of mind each time a life game happened

That's about all i have properly fleshed out for that aspect of the au, tbh, but hopefully this makes sense fjsndkdndk i am very sleepy rn so my words are not as good as they are normally 😂😂😂😂

💀💀💀💀💀💀💀i'm quite possibly THE worst person to ask this i'm afraid lmao unfortunately i work purely on bursts of motivation and energy so i work on whatever i want to work on at the moment which means i have a lot a lot a lot of unfinished stuff sadly

buuuuut one thing that does help me get more in the Zone is to listen to music!!!!! smth based on whatever you're writing at the moment yk? like i have a full folder of playlists specifically made for my bigger works and whenever i listen to them it helps me ground myself a little if that makes sense? helps me concentrate a bit more, helps me put myself in the situation. when i'm woking on my apocalypse au i put on a tlou gameplay vid as background noise and that too is a way for me to focus.

pinterest helps a lot aswell actually!!!!! i also have different folders for different au's and so sometimes i just stare at the pics and that helps too

aaaaaaand one more thing that helps me focus is to change the environment. like i often find it very hard to focus in my own room so lately i've been just using the living room as my little makeshift office and i feel like i'm way more productive there. i know some ppl want to get out of the house entirely and go to libraries or cafes yk?

aaaaaaaaaaaand lastly i feel like sometimes it's just good to step away overall. just take a break. i just shut off the computer and everything and then idk read or play video games or watch smth ooorr go for a walk. helps to clear my head. i can't pressure myself into writing at all and while i do think it's annoying, i don't think it's necessesarily a bad thing bc if i don't want to write, if i don't have words, if i'm just forcing them out.. it won't be good. i think all of my favourite pieces have been stuff that i've loved writing. and i mean i've loved the whole PROCESS of writing not just the outcome.

you have to have patience and you have to understand that there really is no rush. writing is supposed to be fun, or at least ENJOYABLE yk? i think my overall motto is just that you can't force anything. if it's not working out rn, it's not working out – but that doesn't mean it will NEVER work out. it's okay to take a break and do something else for a while. the piece won't go anywhere. oh and actually i do want to add that i have gotten way better ideas after i've taken some time off,, like i come back and it's like my brain has grown twice the size. so yeah. take breaks please. and don't rush it, don't force it. i love you<3333333

I am yet to play the character story quests and world quests.

But hear me out. Is it just me or did the Luofu quests feel really really rushed? Like I felt it got the Inazuma treatment. Like before one storyline could establish itself and sink in, we were already involved in a bunch of other things and other plots. Like I felt that they had a lot of ideas but had to string it together to form a singular plot.

Idk, I feel like I liked Jarillo story better as it felt well paced but I didn’t connect with any Jarillo characters. But with Luofu, I didn’t like the story but I liked the characters (cough cough Jing Yuan and Luocha (yeah I know he’s evil)). Man I went into Luofu quest thinking I’ll be a blade simp but ended up being a Jing Yuan simp instead. I am yet to play Blade’s quest (Kafka called me to help them but it’s literally 4am rn and I am like, Blade you will have to wait)

But long story short. I am going to be binging on your fics tomorrow and I am sooooo excited 🥰🥰🥰

you're kind of right? about the luofu arc, but honestly, it became less confusing BECAUSE of the detectives, the people who theorize and the overall fanarts/theories of the fandom who made the plot make more sense

if you're confused on some parts, i would love to indulge you in what i have information gathered (e.g. main points, species, jing yuan/blade/dan heng/jingliu relationship and things about the xianzhou luofu)

but! since im also done with the inazuma storyline, i can honestly say that i get what you mean? that the hyv didn't point out and explain too much about you know... stuff (like why blade is so damn obsessed with dan heng, more shit about the stellaron hunters n etc, aeons even!) but thats why fandoms exist! i dont even research much because i dont have time, but once i stumble upon a lore/fanart/or even drabble about something related to hsr, i just piece things myself, that and im a sucker for lore so i try to really understand things!

i found it funny and so- idk it makes you go blush BECAUSE of kafka, i dont wanna spoil but i hope you enjoy that specific quest! because it tells details about kafka's powers + we get a proper interaction with her finally (so i got to assess her whole personality n such for headcannons, example, in my herrscher of death!reader x hsr fic!)

So the spoiler summaries for ep 38-39 + ep 40 title dropped...

I’ve already seen some reactions to those spoilers and well... let me say, I’m probably in the minority by not being that thrilled about them.

First of all, the ep 39 spoiler: This is probably the most interesting since it’s titled The Boy from the Future and said boy is the one who gave Yudias his duel disk and some packs. That title and the summary heavily imply now that it’s really Ohdo Yuga who will show up to help Yudias to defeat Luge since him being from the future would make sense considering how outdated lots of things seem in Mutsuba Town and instead of landing in an alternate universe, he actually managed to time travel after his final duel with Otes. But would that mean that all the characters people initially thought to be descendants of the Sevens cast and later simply variants are actually ancestors now?

If Future Boy is truly Ohdo Yuga (there’s still a little bit of doubt in me about that) then I’m kinda annoyed. Don’t get me wrong, I love Yuga but him being in Go Rush and even dueling Luge is just making everyone focus on him now. I was already rather meh about how Go Rush has so many characters sort of based on Sevens characters so it felt like it’s not really standing on its own feet but has to rely on its predecessor somehow. Now if Yuga is there and not some variant of him, it’s even worse imo. I know we were all curious where Yuga was in those two years and maybe Go Rush is really gonna explain that. But now, most people will just care what’s happening with him next and how he will find a way going back home. Maybe arc 4 will be all about Yudias and co. getting to know Yuga better and helping him return to his time. Tbh, I do hope that Yuga is gone after arc 4 because I wished we would focus more on the actual Go Rush main cast for once and not someone who “looks related” to a Sevens character. We still have no idea about who attacks Velgear. My guess is that those people (or maybe it’s just one mighty being) are maybe revealed as silhouettes at the end of ep 52, similar to how the Goha Siblings were introduced at the end of Sevens ep 52. The last thing I would want is them introduced in the very last arc of Go Rush.

Btw: I feel bad for Yuna considering what’s happening in episode 39. I wasn’t a huge fan of her during arc 2 because of her attitude and her fangirl behaviour whenever Rovian was around. But in the current arc, she kinda redeemed herself in my eyes since not only the fangirl behaviour was done less (maybe because Rovian is iced rn *cough*) but she actually tried to find a way to defeat Luge. She first asked Yuga to make a card that is powerful enough to do that, went to Asaka to ask her to make a new Fusion since Nyandestar had the first one and when Asaka refused, she decided to make Fusion herself. Even when her first attempt failed, she wanted to continue until she’s successful instead of just giving up already and that’s admirable. She also showed concern for Mbembe when she saw that Luge is gonna show him what’s in the box and that will freeze him like Rovian.

Yuna tag dueling with Yudias against Luge and not Yudias doing that alone is pretty cool so it hurts me more to read how something weird will happen with her so Yuga has not only to save her but also take her place in the duel. Come on, we have a relevant girl character dueling with the main protag against the current main antag and then she gets replaced because the writers rather want the Sevens main protag next to the Go Rush main protag? Why couldn’t they just wait until Yudias and Yuna defeated Luge to properly introduce Yuga? Why do they have to make Yuna suddenly unable to duel so Yuga jumps in to help Yudias? Idk how many people will even care since a lot are probably more excited to see Yuga duel but I just feel bad for Yuna.

Episode 40 seems to be something dojo-related based on the title? Looks like another easy start for a new arc. I just hope we are done with Sevens variants/ancestors/whatever and don’t introduce more of them.

And I just noticed how none of the spoilers mention Zwijo (or Yuhi) so whether he won or lost is still a mystery. But I doubt he just stands there and watches the arc final duel so he likely is gone after ep 37.

I know I like, haven’t talk about it ever at all but I’ve had this longstanding hc that UF Papyrus actually knew Chara as a ghost when he was younger (for reasons that make more sense with context I won’t get into rn) and that he actually can still see them when Frisk shows up in the underground but pretends he can’t (again, for reasons) but like. Eventually they find out he can see them and it’s like, this whole thing.

Anyway as with most of my headcanons that one changes a lot and sometimes Chara winds up stuck w/ Frisk even on the surface, and in VF especially they actually wind up able to follow Void, too, so long as he’s in the timeline (hence their appearance in that one drawing where Void is dancing w/ Frisk and Flowey).

Anyways again lately for some reason I’ve also been thinking a lot abt multiverse situations, and that US and/or SF Chara wind up getting along especially well w/ Edge and just like. Idk. It gives me a lot of feelings bc I have a hc parallel between Asriel and Chara and Sans and Papyrus so like. They’re this kid who’s just. Had a really hard time with things, and then went through some pretty serious trauma underground bc of geno runs, and wind up being able to talk to Edge about stuff they feel like they can’t with anyone else and he helps them process and cope and helps them recover from the idea they’re evil etc etc and in turn that actually helps him unpack a bunch of stuff he’d long since repressed and helping them lowkey helps him, too and just. Ough, yeah

Specifically what brought this on tonight was thinking about a scenario where all the bros and kids are together under one roof for Christmas/Gyftmas for the weekend, and US Chara has a terrible nightmare in the middle of the night, they rush to find either Stretch or Blue or Astilbe and wind up running into Edge, who’d been up from his own issues (hard time sleeping in a house with so many others, feels like they’re vulnerable to a serious attack all in one place at one time), but he’d gotten up to see what the fuss was when he felt a sharp spike in upset intent.

They’d talked a little before, he knows the kids got issues, but never anything super in depth, and they’re so upset, he’s very concerned, especially when they realize it’s him and not even someone from their own timeline, but they still just grapple onto him anyway, shaking and trying to muffle their sobs. He picks them up and takes them to a more secluded room so the two of them don’t wake/worry anyone else, and he just holds them, calming them until they finally stop crying. They don’t talk and he doesn’t ask, but it’s the first time that kind of sets a precedent for them seeking him out when they have the opportunity and need the help.

sure. depends tho on how opposite they are to each other and if it's going to work out. i mean the opposite of yourself may be super interesting at first, but there is things that do have to align in order for the relationship to grow. or at least both parties have to be open enough to accept and change with the other. like at least in ideals, politics etc. has to have a common ground.

eh i think thats pretty much up to the person themselves. like why does someone have to suffer in order to understand the human condition? what is there to suffer about? we exist and we are the most human every second of our existence, in any state of mind be it suffering or feeling happy. personally i think the best way to understand the human condition is when you look at a person petting an animal or hugging someone they love. i think we became intelligent because we started caring for and bonding with each other. i mean why else do we have pets??? suffering sounds romantic and it sounds smart/realistic to attribute it to human condition. (suffering still being somewhat too romanticized today ngl) though the human condition can be experienced and understood by just existing in whatever condition.

yes. especially today were all very very much so obsessed with escapism even more so due to the fact that all media is always and at any time ready to be consumed. we have become so attached to so many forms of escapism that we forget to face ourselves and would rather continue doing whatever else. i dont think escapism is bad though because everyone needs it once in a while. be it through daydreaming or books or hobbies or whatever. i sometimes also look for an escape. the way we live today makes it very, very hard to confront reality as reality has become a very TIRING mixture of bad news, constant barrage of information at all times, constant pressure from work and so on and so on. and due to being constantly exhausted by something around us, we 'need' these breaks more and more often. bruh idk im rambling rn

no. because i am my memories, my experience, the people in my life. i may have the genetic personality traits, which came from my ancestors, that may be a part of me anyway, but never again will i be the same again. the new memories and experiences id make, may be completely different from the lost ones and thus id be a new person. maybe the memories and experiences and people all develop the same way but they would still be new to me and i may react to them in a new way and become a new person anyway. in short: you are who you are because of your memories and experience that have been formed by your surroundings and the many people that have come and gone in your life.

Homestuck 2 has updated! Christmas is ruined!

Previously, on Homestuck 2: Literally nothing happened, and a non-trivial portion of the patreon supporters gave up and quit. Can this update pull a Christmas miracle and right the sinking ship of Homestuck 2? Probably not, but let’s find out! 

We’re back in Candyland, having completely skipped over Karkat and John talking about Dave’s apparent death, because this comic is only interested in long conversations when they’re boring and not about anything at all. That’s alright, I got the gist of it.

When Karkat is finally gone, John still doesn’t move. It isn’t as though he has nowhere else to go, since there are quite a few places he might attempt to make himself useful, for better or for worse.

So, it appears to be morning now, meaning that John’s son has been missing in a war zone for almost 24 hours and I guess John literally forgot Harry existed?

Prediction: This conversation is going to end in some variant of “Where is our son?” “Oh shit!”

So, I went back and checked, and apparently nowhere is it explicitly said that Harry Anderson was also looking for the Vriskas, so I guess he....stayed home? Which makes sense, I suppose, but maybe a “Stay here I’ll go look for them” would’ve helped. I wasn’t the only one who thought Harry was out looking for Vriska too.

Oh hey, it was a fakeout. Good job, Homestuck 2. You successfully implied something just through the art. Art which, by the way, looks a lot better than the last chapter. There are backgrounds and everything. I wonder if Chapter 15 was rushed out due to Hiveswap and that’s why it was so weak?

He’s almost embarrassed by how relieved he feels. So what if his ex wife wanted to hook up? Shouldn’t that be a situation he could navigate? Don’t people like to find solace in human physical connection during dire times? Why did the idea of it make his mind white out in panic more than, say, any number of the traumas he just experienced?

I’m not the biggest fan of the way the narration is going JOHN IS AFRAID OF SEX WITH ROXY LIKE HE’S A TEENAGE VIRGIN AGAIN (LIKE IN HS1!) AND IT DOESN’T REALLY MAKE SENSE PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IT’LL BE IMPORTANT LATER, but okay, noted.

Oh thing HS2 has not been great at is that it has a lot of plot mysteries that are supposed to keep us enticed but they don’t really get implanted into the audience’s head (Remember Vrissy mysteriously collapsing that one time? Probably not, she did it off screen and the boys kind of laughed it off). This one’s hard to miss.

I think the Barca media team was in a shock. They weren't prepared at all. They were posting video and photos that prepared for renewal announcement. We don't know really know happened but imo there was  lack of planning ahead (on both side). Messi has done a lot for Barcelona & the club have also done a lot for him. Sad it ended like this.

I can’t tell you if lied (or not) to Leo but he sure lied to the fans. He was tell us that things were going well. My question, whose idea was it to wait till last minute i mean few days before new season starts? why wasn’t his agent pushing for the contract to be signed earlier than that? I understand his entourage trust FCB but this is new board and it’s well know that the club is in bad situation financially. Laporta and Co betrayed him but also his agent failed him. Remember last summer? he had clause that let him leave on free transfer but the clause has deadline. He couldn't leave because his agent sent the burofax past the deadline.

alright here’s how I’d rewrite Infinite and ergo some of the plot points of the games story.. it  got long i got a little carried away lol........................ 

Infinite’s name probably isn’t that before he becomes a tool of destruction thing but I don’t care all that much to name him something else rn 

he also doesn’t have a sword because that’s really not necessary and I don’t know how to make that relevant at all 

forget the mercenary thing because it makes no sense that he was “hired” by eggman and that’s also boring. The jackal squad is a nomadic, robin hood type group that steals from bad folks to help other animal people villages in need 

to make character relationships.. matter a little bit more, OC is a long time childhood friend of Infinite and they still see one another a decent amount despite the jackals moving around

I don’t really care how or why the phantom ruby exists in fact I’m just realizing there’s a huge discontinuity because according to the COMIC it just.. existed arbitrarily like a chaos emerald, but according to the GAME it seems to be something Eggman fabricated, since there’s “prototypes” in play??? hm hm okay you know what I’m feeling ambitious let’s make both make sense. There is one true phantom ruby that exists, eggman finds it, where ever I don’t care. some legend about, this ruby can bring your ultimate fantasies to life! EXCEPT you need to have, idk, a good heart, a heart of gold, to use it and eggman doesnt have that so he can see the illusion of his empire but it wont become reality 

eggman thinks okay well, maybe if I fabricate copies of it I can make a version that will work, which I reckon doesn’t make them “prototypes’ anymore but just, copies, but close enough. however, they still don’t work 

now cut to jackal squad raiding eggman for his cool shit. maybe they catch wind about this whole “bring your fantasies to life” power and want to use it for good and they know eggmans vibes are rancid. in any case the jackals make off with a ruby (a FAKE one uh oh!) but not without infinite losing an eye and gaining one big unsightly scar from a fight w/ eggman and he’s like Shook about that but he’s like hm well at least I stopped that terrible guy from harnessing this power (oh no bitch u thought..) 

of course the jackals dont keep their spoils but WHO ever could be trusted with this legendary gem thing?!? oh none other than You, Original The Character, aka Infinite’s best friend .............. so he gives the ruby to OC and tells them like, idk allegedly this can make ur dreams come true but I don’t know how it works...oh my eye? yeah I sure used to have two of those but dont worry about it, anyway ttyl stay fresh  *saunters off, jackaly* 

because the fake!ruby is.. fake, it just seems to be a dud at first so OC just hangs onto it as a keepsake 

eggman, pissed about his shit getting stolen and worried what could be done with it sends robots out to hunt down infinite, kidnap him, and drag him back to eggman’s base and demand the fake!ruby back. infinite naturally refuses to tell him anything especially at the cost of putting OC in danger, so he’s like, blow it out your ass

eggman is like HAHA WELL U DUMB SHIT you stole a fake anyway and I have the real one right here.. he uses the ruby to suddenly spawn a bunch of robots and infinite braces himself for the attack... except they go right through him because they’re just illusions. eggman is like FUCK !! DAMMIT! WHY WONT THIS SHIT WORK!! Infinite uses eggman’s tantrum time to rush in to snatch the ruby. when infinite touches it as its in eggman’s hand, however, all the illusion robots become “real” (probably conveying this through effects/opacity), taking them both by surprise. infinite is unable to take the ruby before getting hit with a full force attack from a robot 

infinite is incapacitated and eggman grins,  like, inch resting...................... you seem to be able to make the ruby work... I will now use you for malicious purposes >:) (cut to black) 

NOW when Infinite is in the tube, 1) he already has his mask because the scene with him putting it on and monologueing about abandoning his old identity is unnecessary, it’s more symbolic here, 2) he’s amnesic and I know we did that with shadow already and I don’t mean to overuse it, but I think it works well enough in a different way for this story! Shadow had some fragments of memories and an identity crisis, but with Infinite, his memory is completely wiped (or perhaps suppressed?) and his only understanding of himself is that he was “created” to work for eggman. Even MORE importantly! the stakes are raised because of Infinite’s relationship to the OC--Infinite cannot remember them which makes attacking them a lot more heart wrenching ESPECIALLY when we get to a point where OC begins to recognize their brainwashed best friend using one of the (apparently) very same rubies given to OC to try to destroy them with

this also adds more tension to all the scenes where Infinite is taunting and threatening OC on a quite personal , rivalry-like level? Infinite would, over time, begin to get an inexplicable sense of familiarity with OC, which causes him to hesitate and hold back 

oh and as for the fake!ruby, OC does use it to defend himself just like the first time! it ends up being successfully activated because OC shows a strong will to protect the other civilians. if you haven’t caught on to my cheese, both OC and Infinite have hearts of gold and thats why they can use the rubies. eggman is cheating though by fusing Infinite to the ruby and using him as a proxy for his bad will..... and again, coming back to the cheese, Infinite’s heart cannot be changed and he is not truly “evil” so that’s like, how this is working 

I���m way too lazy to fix everything scene by scene because there’s also just SO MUCH wrong with all the other characters and plot but I’m just focusing on fixing Infinite and making him more interesting so I’m skipping to the end..  

I’m not entirely sure how I’d order the bosses and what I’d wanna do with the eggman robot phases  the whole things was a big mess............I kinda wanna go with what I THOUGHT was going to happen after beating up giant robot thing and then that squid robot breaks out??? and I thought it was going to be Infinite cause that would be much more dramatic? So lets go with that---When Eggman says like, well fuck infinite who needs him? i harnessed the power of the ruby into my robot, he means he literally trapped Infinite in it like, wired up and shit to use him like a power generator. fucked up. Infinite breaks out after that phase of the battle, and he’s like, in so much pain and glitched out on overclocked energy he cant even control what he’s doing.... commence TRUE final boss battle (it can still be a tagteam with sonic), and it’s sad and dramatic! OC pleads (or I reckon sonic, maybe the other heroes too since they talk during fights! like since OC doesnt talk) infinite to remember his true self because they dont want to destroy him 

once you’ve depleted his health bar, I’m going to go ahead and use the game’s weird addition of quicktime events to fuel more cheesiness (B/C THIS IS SONIC...WHY DID THEIR “POWER OF FRIENDSHIP” MORAL END ON SUCH A BLAND, UNEMOTIONAL NOTE IN FORCES??? shadow didnt fall to his (alleged) death in sa2 for this..............) and you quicktime OC HUGGING Infinite, like jumping towards him and grabbing him in an embrace type of thing! and when OC makes contact with the ruby, it activates, making all the probably hostile glitchy  battle terrain or whatever dissipate, infinite stops being like.. idk lookin like he’s being electrocuted, and his mask fades away .. exposing Infinite as his true self once again 

the in between the lines intent here, again since OC doesn’t talk, is that OC’s fantasy was to bring Infinite back so they could be together again. you’re welcome to interpret that as romantic, or platonic, it doesn’t matter! it’s open ended! it’s just supposed to be cute!  

idk and then emotional stuff, I’m not entirely sure what it doesn’t really matter the idea is that Infinite is like, remorseful of what happened but everyone ofc forgives him because it’s not his fault , and then he joins up with with everyone to help fix the world! hmm I’m torn between Infinite keeping the true phantom ruby or giving it to the OC, like giving it to the OC makes sense, but for the sake of like, hypothetically bringing Infinite back in a future game and having special powers, it would be perfect if he kept it and that was his thing, he uses the power of virtual reality to help people and fight evil and whatever  

I dont know I guess there’s not a lot of sense in thinking too hard since I just remembered none of this is canon whatsoever and we’re probably not seeing Infinite again unless as a stock evil thing to beat up like metal sonic 8′)

I Still Don’t Know if I Can Write an Actual Fic BUT here are some more thoughts (or stream-of-consciousness musings) on Sentinel/Guide AU CQL!WangXian:

The world is one in which Sentinels usually end up with some cultivation sect or another. Not all cultivators are Sentinels, and not all Sentinels end up cultivators - cultivators aren’t necessarily out there actively looking for Sentinels - but a lot of ‘em end up with the sects

Sentinels are a known concept but not necessarily codified into a separate hierarchy; it’s more of a concept of if you have the potential to be a Sentinel, then the actions and movements relating to cultivation would help you regulate yourself and your senses and not lose control or zone out? Idk I’m a bit hazy on this aspect but I know I don’t want Sentinels to be a Separate Thing. Maybe it’s even seen more as being born with a natural aptitude to high-level cultivation, since like if you’re high-level you can...probably do some cool things with your senses :’)

I suddenly remembered vague bits of stories from my childhood and either Sun Wukong or some other deity in folkloric/mythological tradition having powers such as Very Good Sight and Very Good Hearing (there were much better names than this. google tells me Thousand Li Eyes and Wind Following Ear. Both of which sound familiar and also much better in Chinese. The idea being one of them can see very far and the other can hear very far away. So this works within the Sentinel/Guide structure!!)

cool so building on this, I guess this could be a Sentinel/Guide AU where Sentinel level is based off number of heightened senses? in that some have one of those powers, some have many, and the idea that you have more corresponds to the idea of higher levels of spiritual power/cultivation

Since I like the idea that Sentinels & Guides are sort of incorporated in and aren’t really codified out of the cultivation world, I guess “cultivation partner” could either be a Guide or just. someone’s cultivation partner lol

(the way I kind of see it working is, if there really is a separate term for Sentinels & Guides, it would be a translation of Sentinel & Guide, but some sort of old story about a now-mythologicalized couple sort of like the NiuLang ZhiNv (Cowheard & Weaver Girl) story, and they’d be described as/titled 仙人 or 道长 (cultivators) first but then like “oh, they are like [whatever story, sry I’m not going to make up fake mythology rn :’)]”

More specific to the characters:

Lan Wangji is a high-level Sentinel obv, and being raised in Gusu was both helpful to him in that Gusu has few things which would trigger zone-outs in Sentinels, but then conversely this would make it difficult for him after leaving Gusu because he hasn’t had as much practice getting overwhelmed?

you gotta be quiet, you can’t indiscriminately fight, you have a very rigid set schedule, the food is bland apparently, you can’t kill livestock in the Cloud Recesses, etc etc? Look I don’t want it to be created specifically for Sentinels because it amuses me too much that the Lan descendants really just Were That Extra, but also this sounds Perfect for a high-level Sentinel baby to grow up and not be overwhelmed with pain every two seconds

This lets them build up their spiritual energy and ability to like regulate themselves and their senses so when they DO go out in the wild, they maybe have a bit less issues than someone who just is thrown into the world with all of their senses online and suffering?

yes ofc downside is: then they don’t have practice dealing with Loud and Distracting and Overwhelming things. *evil smile*

This works for me in CQL because of all of the times young Lan Zhan is all zoning out and...usually it’s WWX who like grabs him gently by the arm or calls out and gets his attention

I guess also popular within the trope is there’s usually SOMETHING that brings Sentinels online. could be something traumatic? could be puberty? I want to give Lan Zhan some pain and also Much Power and I think there’s an idea of the earlier you come online the more powerful you tend to be (TEND to be this is correlation not causation) so I...lowkey like the idea that sometime after Madame Lan dies, Lan Zhan comes online when he’s still a tiny lil bb, because that thought causes me the most pain

just think of lil bb Lan Zhan kneeling in front of his mother’s house waiting for her to open the door and then suddenly he swoons, and Lan Qiren and Lan Xichen rush up all worried, they bring him to a more populated part of Cloud Recesses (and incidentally, louder, and also ppl are worried so it’s not as quiet as it usually might be bc people are somewhat frantic that Lan ErGongzi passed out like that) when Lan Zhan rouses he can’t stop crying, which is really out of character for him? and they do their best to console him and finally get out of him that everything is too loud and it’s overwhelming him, so they bring him back to Jingshi

points for Extra Pain in CQL because while Madame Lan’s residence was a different place in the novel (I think?) CQL just Went There and was like “yeah you know Lan Zhan’s Jingshi? his study and bedroom and like overall place of residence and solace? yeah that’s where our mom used to live, you know, the place Wangji knelt in front of in the snow waiting for her?” :’)

so I mean Wangji was precocious to begin with, but this puts extra points into his being a strong cultivator from an early age too :’)

When Wei Wuxian arrived into Wangji’s life it’s like those two lines from Burn from Hamilton where it’s like:  “ You and your words flooded my senses / Your sentences left me defenseless / You built me palaces out of paragraphs” >:D

ahh, ruth!! howdy! I would like to apologize if this ask is all over the place, ya girl is currently goin thru an emotional meltdown + this is my only respite 🤠

The Sergio-Divergent AU is my Baby 😭 it started out as two separate aus, actually! The first one was an "all the crusaders live" au and the second was a "joseph had a son who is josuke's father" au because I could not and tbh still can't accept Joseph cheating on the legend that is Suzi. I realized there was no reason to have them as two separate aus, so they became one.

I have a more detailed page about it all if you're on desktop, but I'll give you the quick rundown! Years after Holly is born, Joseph and Suzi have another son, Sergio! He spends a lot of his childhood with Lisa Lisa because everyone is super busy, and bc of that he gets the whole 411 about his family's history and Hamon. Joseph doesn't let Lisa Lisa send his kid through Hell Climb Pillar, so Sergio and Lisa Lisa agree on music as a good way to practice Hamon. He becomes a huge music kid because of this, which leads to him becoming really good friends with Sadao! (much to joseph's despair lol) He is mcShooken when Jotaro is born, and spends many weekends and school vacations in Japan with the Kujos bc he adores the little guy.

Aside from having Funky Breathing Powers, he has a relatively normal life until he graduates from uni! He has a mild existential crisis, but Sadao comes in to save the day and gets him a few gigs over in Japan. This is where Sergio meets Tomoko, and they hit it off really well (after Holly is able to convince him that yes, she is flirting with him lol).

There's a golden year or two where things are nice. Tomoko graduates from uni, and Sergio gets a nice residency for his compositions! They get engaged! But, things go haywire when Tomoko is like bro.. I am jus DYIN?? And they rush to the hospital to find out!! AHHH the bitch has been pregnant the whole time and her baby said yo I'm fuckin outtie! (I wasn't entirely keen on this concept at first, but this exact thing happened to my sister so I will let it be) Cue the age of madness, in which Sergio and Tomoko try to juggle their jobs, their upcoming wedding, and their newborn.

Things get even madder when Joseph rings to be like, "Heyyy... I do not mean to alarm you but we found Dio's coffin and, uh, he's not in it lol." Sergio is deeply alarmed by this bc Dio was like, the monster under his bed AND in his closet as a kid. He filed the fear away growing up because Dio was dead and couldn't hurt anyone anymore, but now!! Aha! He tries to keep sensible about it, and to his credit, he does for about a year! But then Dio makes his thotty thotty trip to Japan to go crazy go stupid with Giorno's mother and Sergio, a Joestar and big experienced Hamon user, feels his presence deeply. (Dio also senses him [and Holly, Jotaro, and Josuke but he has no idea lol]) All pretense is thrown out the window, Sergio flips his lid because not Only is dio back... but hE'S IN JAPAN AHH.

There's a mild lapse in logic here because it'd be safe to assume that Dio's in Japan to kill all of them? But right now Sergio's just like, he's here to kill ME (and then everyone else. The idea rn is that Dio's coming for him first bc he poses the largest threat, but ahh idk.) Anyhow, Sergio has a mild meltdown about it and postpones the wedding because he doesn't want to run the risk of making Tomoko a widow. Tomoko is not pleased by all of this and is like bro.. you've gotta go to Tibet and get better at fighting with Hamon, I'll go live with my dad in the meantime.

So he goes to Tibet! I need to rework this section a bit, so I won't write too much about it. But! His stand, Golden Prophet, manifests here + he is directed to Abdul by one of Abdul's childhood friends! (This is messy to read, sorry! This is an artifact from before the rework, and I haven't addressed it yet ahh) So he goes to Egpyt, and becomes good buds with Abdul as he learns how to use GP better. The whole time, he's been having the migraine and nightmare of his Life because Dio is also in Egypt! Confident (and perhaps too confident) in his abilities, he sets out to kill the family scourge once and for all. However, he's intercepted by a particularly destructive stand user, Suad, whose stand circumvents his own. He ends up suspended in mid-air by a pole through his lung, which. :( He freaks out for a hot moment bc he Knows there's no way out, and that he won't get to go home and marry Tomoko or help her raise Josuke. In the mania, he has a moment of lucidity and realizes nobody knows Dio's whereabouts except for him... So, he uses Golden Prophet to make one final spirit audio call to his dad, and spills all the beans. With his final breaths, he urges Joseph to seek out Abdul and also make sure Tomoko and their son are well supported.

The stand user, Suad, comes back into consciousness during this phone call and realizes that Sergio is not as horrible as Dio made him out to be, and that he's literally just a Dude. He's just a dad. Wracked with guilt bc she is also just a parent trying to secure a future for her child, Suad defects and seeks Abdul out herself. Abdul is familiar with some of Dio's stand users, but Suad was one of them and knows More. She tells him everything she knows + acts as one of his informants.

This is all set-up for the "All the Crusaders Survive" part of the AU. Joseph is way more cautious going into Egypt because it already claimed his son's life. The Speedwagon Foundation is way more present in Cairo, which is fundamental to Kakyoin's survival. The rest of the AU is very long and basically just follows everyone in the aftermath of the crusade and beyond!

I am an INTP 5w6 female and I want to know how to meet new people, it didn't bother me before but I had a boyfriend.of 1.5years and I now miss having someone in my life, don't remember exactly what I wrote but I thought I had made a good choice and was really hopeful about that relationship and I tried hard to make it work but I couldn't deal with his bs anymore, I did for a while cause I thought he was worth it, I've been trying to build deeper relationships but didn't care before so imbehnd

My ex wasn't extremely manipulative but he lied and hid things from me and got angry when I complained when his stories made no sense, I left We knew each other for so long and I couldn't deal with him not apologizing for his bs and blaming me for what he was doing, I just couldn't justify the relationship even if I still loved him This lead me to believe my strategy was wrong since I thought I knew him and that he was more mature than that, no matter how high the filter this could happen..

3. It's just so disappointing, you know? That people can be such assholes after managing to present themselves as the opposite of that for so long I've never really had close friendships except for my ex, and a few friends (I guess?) I didn't care much for this before since I'm alright on my own, but I found that I really liked having someone, so I'm trying to meet new people now that I'm more or less healing, but idk how to do it, acquaintances used to fall in my lap before but not anymore

4. I'm 23 yo, about to get my degree. I do have a crush on a classmate but when I try to picture us going out it feels awkward and weird since I don't know him very well, I need to know people well before considering dating... I know this is not what you asked nor is it necessarily going to be helpful or relevant but: I would strongly rethink your type. Ti-doms and 5s are both vanishingly unlikely to drop seven asks worth of highly personal and emotionally open information in the inboxes of total strangers.

With regards to the actual question, this is really not an MBTI question (more on this at the end) and not entirely something I’d consider myself an expert on. I very much hope I am not the only person you can go to on this because I personally wouldn’t want me to be my only source of advice on this. With those caveats, see below.

I think Tumblr (and to be fair some forms of media) portray friendships and relationships as an attraction at first sight/immediate connection.

This is fucking stupid.

Because I tie everything back to my personal soapbox causes: this is why I have such disdain for the anti-small talk crowd, or people who think they’re special because they crave a deep, below-the-surface human connection. Nearly everyone wants deep connection. It’s normal and healthy. It’s also an ongoing process that nearly always involves some period of time during which you and the other potential friend are awkward acquaintances who don’t entirely understand each other and have to talk about surface-level things. You can’t speedrun intimacy.

This is particularly true in adulthood. Children do make friends more quickly, but also children are weird and fickle and a friendship can be based on little more than sharing crayons (not to knock that, plenty of great friendships started that way) while adults have a much better sense of who they are and also typically a much more narrow definition of who they want as a friend and all kinds of emotional baggage to boot.

Essentially, if you want a friendship that matches the depth of a relationship of 1.5 years it’s probably going to take close to 1.5 years to get there, and from what you said you’d known each other even longer before the romantic relationship, so add that time too. Which might not be what you want to hear, but it’s important to manage the expectation. Basically all relationships (and by this I mean romantic or platonic) start out with little connection, and you become friends through building that connection, and you can’t really rush it.

I believe in “clicking” in the sense of there being an immediate mutual interest in getting to know each other better, but speaking practically, regardless of the initial chemistry you are still basically intrigued strangers at that point. All clicking does is provide additional motivation for that process of getting to know each other. And speaking from experience, deep friendships in the long term don’t always have an initial “click”. I’ve had relationships that were initially quite intense fade away, and others slowly grow from acquaintanceship into lasting intimate friendship even if we didn’t expect it on first meeting. The myth of clicking is confirmation bias - unless there was a serious fallout, you’ll probably forget the people who you thought you clicked with if it didn’t just work out, and conversely it’s not hard to look back through the lenses of memory and nostalgia and find a single moment when a friendship or love crystalized, even though the reality is that it was merely the tipping point after considerable energy had already been invested on both sides.

In terms of practical advice, finishing up a degree is a uniquely awkward time, especially if all your classmates are in the same boat, because there’s often a mentality of “we’re all going to leave soon, let’s stick with the friendships we have.” Others in your class may not have that motivation to make a close connection, and it sucks but it’s temporary. The good news is that the larger world doesn’t feel that way. It is a bit more difficult to make friends as an adult, just because you’re not spending time with people naturally the same way as you do in school, but meetups and clubs and social organizations all exist for this reason and are explicitly there for people who want to make friends. And again, it’s going to be a slow process. I respect that it’s frustrating having to start from what feels like square one, but it’s unavoidable.

As for dating, you don’t need to do apps if you don’t want to! But you’re right. It’s going to be comparatively inefficient. Particularly if you prefer to date people you already know socially, you’ll have to put in a lot of effort going to social things and building those acquaintanceships over time and you might need to ask someone out face to face. Inexperience is fine. Everyone has to start somewhere. The tradeoff is more that you can’t screen people as well if you’re on apps, and they can be kind of impersonal but you do get to interact with many people quickly on your own terms without having to go outside and with the luxury of being able to think up witty comebacks instead of having to chat in real time.

(I do want to counter the idea that people who use apps are any less deep or anything like that. Some people are comfortable with casual hookups and some aren’t, but many people use apps to set up a date first and see if they have enough of an interest to keep things going. As with all of the above, everything has to start somewhere and if you think of the app as a way to facilitate meeting people, rather than “I must make a romantic connection with this person tonight”, and steer towards dating vs. hookup apps/make it clear you’re looking for long-term relationships, you might have more luck. The point of the first date for most people isn’t to find a partner, though sometimes that happens; it’s to find someone you enjoy enough to go on a second date with and slowly get to know).

One final thought: all this advice applies universally but I actually think considering it in the context of MBTI is more harmful than helpful, or at best misleading. For example, you say that being a 5 you take too long to check if people are safe, which whether or not you actually are a 5 also has absolutely nothing to do with being a 5, and even if you are a 5 and this is a 5 thing, you’re aware of this behavior! You can stop doing that then! MBTI is not destiny!

Regardless of type, no one automatically knows what to say in every situation, no one can read minds, and no one has discovered the secret to always being liked and never being rejected. Type can convey talent or inclination but skill requires time. Extroverts are often better with people because they have to be - they aren’t as okay with just being alone, especially when younger, so they go out and deal with people and through that process learn to make friends. But they weren’t born with it. Sites that favor introverts and/or intuitives are terrible for a lot of reasons but I find they perpetuate the ideas I disagreed with above, that friendships for introverts and intuitives must always be with people who Click and Already Get It. This is wrong and it’s limiting. Obviously don’t pursue a friendship or relationship if you don’t like the person, but don’t write someone off just because you didn’t feel a magical spark right away. That’s not being deep and sensitive - that’s being closed off to new experiences. Anything worth doing involves real-world effort and some amount of risk, and usually it involves patience and time and awkwardness and uncertainty as well.
