hey nonners, idk. this is a complicated question. i mean, game's not even out yet so it's unfair to pass judgment on it. i can only judge bioware's approach to pre-release marketing. and i got a lot of thoughts on that.

honestly i think it will be a perfectly serviceable game and technically it will run well (i mean, it has been steam deck verified which tells me that performance was a big concern for devs). i don't think quality has much bearing on the love people can have for a game. and vice-versa. the people who are hyped to oblivion and want to preorder will like it. the people who hate it bc it has poc and queer and disabled characters will still hate it. people who analyze the game's mechanics and writing will dissect the game and be predisposed to finding things they dislike. over time opinions will mellow out and we'll see how the veilguard will be remembered.

i can't trust bioware to make an rpg that i will want to play after their last failures. different people will differ on where the string of failures started. from a quality standpoint my line is dragon age 2. me3 to me failed to deliver on the promise of the first 2 me games save for shining exceptions like the citadel dlc and javik. from a numbers standpoint the last successful game was inquisition which won goty in 2014 due to a serious lack of competition mostly, especially since witcher 3 was pushed back to 2015 (which pains me personally as that put it directly in bloodborne's path to goty in that year). thing is bioware seems to be doing all they can to avoid a flop. veilguard is bioware's hail mary after a string of failures. they are ditching the ea app to capture as many people as possible. the combat has fully careened into action, and although they keep telling us these will be the best companions ever, really, guys, the gameplay is more and more focused on the protagonist alone. the crpg roots of the series are getting cut down to attract a broader audience. perhaps at the cost of ostracizing some like me who enjoy the party-based, party-building mechanics like me.

how well this will go i don't know. on one hand i think bioware has been historically bad at showing the full scope to new and returning players. empress celene has been haunting the edges of the world since origins. the full grasp of her character is locked behind books. afaik some companions have been introduced already in supplemental materials. this sort of move didn't go well for ff15. on the other i think this game missed its window. the gaming landscape of today isn't the same as it was in 2014, and in 2014 the skyrim at home open world design was already outdated. i've been hearing about the crpg renaissance since 2016. i accompanied it. it remained a niche part of gaming until it didn't: baldur's gate 3 released last year to audience and critical acclaim. going forward i expect mainstream rpgs to take cues from bg3. and the mission based almost extraction shooter-esque design that veilguard seems to have might not land as well in 2024 as it would have in 2020.

eta: or it could go well, idk. morrowind and final fantasy were bethesda's and squaresoft's hail maries and saved those studios.

right now the marketing has missed the mark on me. it is patronizing and seemingly needs to punch down the previous da games to prop this one up. it concerns me that the game may be releasing in 2 months (as per jeff grubb) and we quite frankly haven't seen shit. just bioware telling us that trust me, these companions are deep. trust me, the combat is good. trust me, the city built on slave labor is totally the coolest one you've seen. everyone copies fromsoftware but they don't seem to learn to drop a trailer and shut up until they got more things of substance to show. and this isn't just a bioware issue.

Nothing gets me into a fiery rage more than thinking about 343 has handled the Halo series after Bungie left it off on such a high note. 1, 2 and 3 were good, ODST and Reach were godlike, and they expanded on the universe quite a few times with books and comics and all that. And then 343 came in and just completely gumbled most of it up. CEA was cool, but basically just kitbashed Reach and upscaled Halo 3 assets together and lost some of the original touch the game had back in 2001.

Halo 4 was, ok? The best part was Cortana's story, going into more depth about rampancy and how it affects AI, especially one that we've known and loved for over a decade at that point. The Forerunners were fucking stupid personally, it's hinted to and LITERALLY SAID IN HALO 3, that humans are forerunners, just after the shitshow that was all the rings firing off. 343 Guilty Spark literally says that Chief is a forerunner, and then they just whipped it around and said "well actually he's a reclaimer because blablabla" ok whatever, they do flesh it out more in expanded works and explain it in Halo 4 so atleast theres that. Del Rio is an asshole to the savior of humanity for no reason. The sudden art style change that makes no sense is stupid, like you could've delayed the change until the Infinity rolled around. The Diadact is just space voldemort turning humanity into NFTs after being on r/nofap for 100,000 years, who then dies pretty unceremoniously to a shit ass grenade in a quick time event.

Halo 5 is.... fucking just Halo 5. The Cortaba story is so bad, why did you bring her back as an antagonist? Why didn't you stick to the marketing that was actually a really cool idea about Chief going rogue and hunting the truth. Where are the Marines? Why do I have to fight the Warden Eternal like 20 times? Better balancing than 4 i guess, but god the plot is just all over the place. And that fight scene with Chief, Chief was abducted as a child and forced into the spartan program and trained to be a cold brutal killer of the UNSC's foes. Without Mjolnir armor he straight up merked 2 ODSTs in hand-to-hand combat. This 7-foot-augmented-out-the-ass man had an equal match in a mass produced Spartan 4? Sure Locke is ONI so he's got some spice to him and he's still a Spartan wearing similar armor to Chief, but come on, you can't tell me a guy who saves humanity for breakfast is on a similar level to Halo Nightfall guy.

Infinite is strange. They basically drop Halo 5's characters for the most part, give Chief new (remastered Mk.6) armor, bring back older models of guns and stuff with a new coat of paint (Reach AR, Battle Rifle, now the DMR) and blow up Cortana and the Infinity within the first like, 30 minutes of the game. Ooooo the Banished except wait after Atriox's not-death they're pretty incompetent and are gettinf roflstomped by Chief and are really only good at killing UNSC off screen. The open world shit was ok, but for Halo i dont think its entirely the best idea to go for whatever Far Cry ass shit they pulled. Bringing back the old designs was really cool and much better than the sterile, clean, sharp edges of 4 and 5. Their armor and weapons looked like brand new toys while Infinite's look more realistic and have a bit more wear and tear to em. But its also missing a ton and just kind of ends off on a weird half note for the story. Like where are they gonna go with this? Idk, its just weird.

343, make more stories without Chief. I know Chief is the figurehead of the franchise, but for god's sake please please please make side stories in the universe. I want to see how humanity recovered after the war, how the different species in the Covenant took the end of the war. Exploring Forerunner sites? Side stories in the human-covenant war with ODSTs and Marines! You could totally make the Harvest campaign into a game! Give us the origin story for Sgt Johnson and how he and others did during the opening months of the conflict! Give us more on the Insurrection! You've done it before, Halo Forward Unto Dawn was actually a really cool movie, why don't you do some more stuff like that??

I read the ACOTAR trilogy years ago and liked it, but I was never interested in reading any of the next books. I remember that Lucien and Elain were supposed to be mates but she didn't want to talk to him(?) and it was left unresolved at the end of ACOWAR. After that I only know bits and pieces I came across online, and I often saw people saying Elain should end up with Azriel instead. So I'm here to ask: what's going on, what happened since then? What is her relationship with both men at this point? Is there a love triangle? Who is she more likely gonna end up with? Can you please tell me the tea? 👀

Omg this is like a big question that requires a big answer, so bare with me ✨

First things first, I wanna start by saying that I’m completely biased at this point, since I want Elain and Lucien to be together. I will present the facts and how I see them. I did this post ages ago discussing every ship! There are more details

So, since the end of Wings and Ruin, Elain and Lucien’s relationship hasn’t really improved. She still avoids him whenever he’s around and, as far as we know, he only shows up in Velaris when he needs to report something to Rhys and Feyre (since he works for them as emissary) or on Winter’s Solstice. He always gets her a gift and she ignores him, as usual.

Now, as for Elain and Azriel, we know due to Azriel’s bonus chapter that they spent a little time together, usually in the garden, with Elain going over her garden plans and stuff.

Idk if you read his chapter or not, I guess you must have seen it around, but if you want to get more context to this, I recommend reading it even if didn’t read the book. You can still understand lots of it.

But basically what happened is this:

It’s after the Winter Solstice party and Azriel and Elain meet after everyone left to their own rooms. In the chapter, we get Azriel’s pov so we get to learn a bit more about his state of mind and how unwell he is (and has been for a while). When they meet, Azriel intercepts Elain as she’s going downstairs to put a gift in his gift pile, so she hands him his gift. He then also gives her a gift, that he didn’t give earlier as well, a rose shaped necklace

They have a bit of a moment, with Azriel thinking about how they always had slight touch of hands and shared glances (not really conversations), but nothing else happened beyond that. Azriel thinks about how he has the hots for her and also how bothered he is about Elain and Lucien’s mating bond

Then, they almost kiss, BUT they are interrupted by Rhys, when he has a mental conversation with Azriel, who then tells Elain this was a mistake and she apologizes, and as far as we know, they haven’t talk since

NOW, Rhys basically tells Az to stay away from Elain, because she has a mate and if he saw them kissing (Lucien was just upstairs) he would have, like, the right to be really pissed off and call on Azriel the blood duel (traditional of the Autumn Court) and then fight to the death for Elain. Like, Lucien would never do that, but anyway

Azriel tries to reason with Rhys by saying that Elain is not interested in Lucien and that maybe the cauldron was wrong and that they were not supposed to be mates, which leaves Rhys all “what the actual fuck????”. To which Azriel responds by saying that there are 3 sisters and 3 brothers, so how come were 2 sisters given to 2 of those brothers (Rhys and Cassian) but the third one wasn’t???? Rhys gets all 😡 and tell Azriel that he should go to a pleasure house and leave Elain alone, to not jeopardize their relationship with Lucien, cause he’s a really important ally for them, as he has ties with many courts + the human realm

Az gets really mad about the whole thing, we know he always wanted a mate, so this whole thing is a sensitive topic for him. He then meets Gwyn, a new character to the series, he trains her on combat with Cassian, and she was overall a really important character in ACOSF. They have a moment, filled with playful banter and even a couple of revelations (we learned from their conversation that Az sings) and when he leaves her he was much more cool minded

As the chapter goes, we learn that Elain returned the rose shaped necklace, putting it back in his gift pile, without even talking to him. He then gets the necklace and anonymously gives it to Gwyn, thinking about how her eyes will shine upon seeing it, calling it “a thing of secret, lovely beauty”

NOW, everyone is entitled to their opinions, and even if I don’t agree, I see why people would ship Elain and Azriel considering some other moments they had during the other books. I for one think that the bonus chapter was a way of Sarah to put an end to them. I think his interaction with Gwyn was much more interesting and had that sjm couple banter thing, that she always writes, and honestly it just seemed healthier (considering how Az’s pov goes)

But even if we forget about Gwyn for a moment, during Silver Flames there were a couple of moments when Az just pretty much dismissed Elain, when she wanted to do finally do something and help everyone. Saying how Elain should not be exposed to such darkness and all. Which could be cute, like, “awnn he wants to protect her”, but he did it behind her back and she was really just trying to help and do more. And that didn’t sit right with me

As for Elain and Lucien, I’m not gonna lie, it’s looking very good for them lol. But, I think they will overcome their issues, cause they don’t have anything against each other. They don’t even know each other. Their issue is not personal, And I think that eventually they will know each other and things will work out just fine

So, answering your question, Idk who’s gonna end up with who. I have my personal beliefs and some people have completely different ideas. Not really sure who to blame for this, maybe we should blame Sarah for being a little ambiguous or ourselves for being maybe a bit too emotional about it 🤡

But I’ll tell you this: acotar 5 is next, so we’re gonna find out soon enough ✨

this was kinda hard lol. i love so many episodes in both shows but here’s my answer right now:

1987

5. the big cufflink caper

this one was an immediate favorite. it’s fun, silly, and clever. each turtle has their time to shine. the plot is so ridiculous but i found myself intrigued by the steps taken to solve the mystery. it’s great

4. take me to your leader

i love the concept of the other 3 turtles trying to lead in leonardo’s absence. it really shows why leonardo is so needed in the team, while showing why the other turtles have other roles. raphael doesn’t want to lead but can ground the team and is most likely to see things as they are, donatello is competent beyond belief but doesn’t have the focus needed to be leader, and michelangelo has the kindness and talent to lead but is ultimately too short sighted. it’s leonardo’s drive and ambition and confidence that make him a good leader and him needing to find that again and see that his brothers need him is such an interesting premise, and the episode is great at the execution imo.

3. four musketurtles

leonardo gets hyperfixated on a book, bonks his head, and wakes up believing his is the main character. it’s just so funny and cam clarke’s british accent reminds me of liquid snake which i find hilarious. idk it’s just fun.

2. beware the lotus

lotus is my favorite character beside leonardo so of course this was gonna be on the top five lol. i love lotus and leonardo’s dynamic, and i just love lotus as a character. even if we don’t get to explore lotus’ character very much, the episode does a great job establishing lotus’ abilities: her combat prowess, her smarts, her wit, and even her self respect. and the fact that she can defeat shredder so easily … mwah i love it.

hehe now here’s the episode where we explore lotus’ character more. she’s insecure about not fitting in or having a family/clan. and the fact that she feels comfortable around leonardo enough to cry and laugh and tease like AHSKAHAK PLEASE I LOVE THEM. the whole onion scene is my favorite scene in the show. i just wish we could’ve seen how she dealt with her new life without the spirit within her. and more leolotus obviously. the one thing that bothers me about the episode is that shredder and his group don’t show up after chakahachi takes the role of villain. they just leave and we don’t see them for the rest of the episode lol.

5. the insecta trifecta

i think this episode explores raph’a trauma and fear really well, and it is by far the height of the later seasons (ngl i am a season 1 fan lol). i love raph’s interactions with splinter so much. it shows how much raph has grown since season 1, and splinter’s counsel reflects it. instead of teaching raph as an angry child, he teaching him as a struggling almost-adult. he’s patient and understanding with him, and raph is more respectful and is able to try and talk through his struggles more easily. i love it. also i have a horrible sense of humor and the ant french kiss scene sends me into hysterics every time lmao.

4. in dreams

hehe i’m a sucker for worst fears/nightmare type episodes. also the ANIMATION IS SO COOL IN THIS EPISODE??? AND CASEY SAVES THE DAY??? AND APRIL IS SO WORRIED ABOUT THEM THE ENTIRE TIME???? man i love it. i love most of the farmhouse arc but this one is so good x3

3. parasitica

i’m not even a mikey fan and i have a huge fear of insects, especially wasps. so i legit have no idea why i love this one as much as i do. but the plot is so … small? compared to the other episodes. a majority of it is just in the lair, and the turtles are the only characters other than the wasps. and it works so well. the story flows great and you feel the urgency of the situation. also mikey banging his head into the table so he doesn’t pass out is funny to me idk. also. ALL HAIL THE BEAN … why wasn’t april there tho? she was living with them during this time lol

2. monkey brains

this episode is the best donatello episode idc. not only is it the start of april and donnie becoming best friends (before then it was super awkward lol and april wasn’t quite used to him yet), but also it shows donnie’s flaws, strengths, and insecurities so clearly. i wish later episodes were this good at exploring his character. it’s like they hit his magnum opus way too early lmao and didn’t know where to go afterwards. he over-thinks. with fighting. with hanging out with april. and with his insecurities … doesn’t think april will just say yes to hanging out so he has to come up with an excuse of some sort … takes a lot of issue with the word “monstrosity” (thinks he’s a monster and doesn’t like to be reminded) … and i haven’t forgotten about april. this episode marks the first major glimpse of her powers. and when splinter first offers her training. LIKE IDK I JUST ADORE THIS EPISODE.

it’s easier for me to think about seasons as a whole rather than just episodes tho lol

season 1 is good from beginning to end. some episodes are better than others, but it all flows rlly well imo. also top tier comedic timing and i personally love the quick movements and quirky speaking animation.

season 2 has rlly good highs but boring lows? it does have the strength of flowing well tho. individual episodes aren’t easy for me to like (other than fungus humungous, slash and destroy, and the invasion), but there are good scenes throughout the season.

season 3 starts out super strong (with the exception of bigfoot episode and frog episode). i love the farmhouse arc so much. but then the rest of the season feels aimless and messy. i don’t rlly like the brain worm thing. they didn’t want karai to be a good guy yet so they drew out the villain karai thing way too long. i like the finale but there’s very little buildup.

season 4 should have been two seasons. the space arc is pretty fun, but a lot of the episodes had weird pacing and i wish there was more imo? like you have so many things you could do with a space arc but didn’t explore them. and then the last half was … meh. it could’ve been its own season to explore the arcs more. let april’s possession be more drawn out and a bigger issue, let don vizioso have more of an impact (especially for donnie), let splinter’s death be better written smh. also i hate the finale lmao

talking about my tavs (and durge) because i can...2!

also game spoilers abound

riose. he/him, half-drow, necromancer warlock, acolyte backstory. one level in cleric of eilistraee for roleplaying

riose is a follower of eilistraee and a bleeding heart pacifist, which ties into his necromancy - he sees utilizing the dead, whose souls have since moved on, as a way to preserve the lives of the living by allowing them to replace living fighters in events where combat can't be avoided. he believes strongly in protecting life, no matter how questionable the person is, unless killing is absolutely necessary. which is how he immediately got killed by a mindflayer. and then again by a vampire a few nights later. honestly he's more of an accidental menace to the party than my actual selfish chaotic characters. oops!

his charisma is dogshit, so despite trying so desperately for pacifism he's accidentally caused way more conflict than most of my other tavs. he's really struggling out here. also only being half-drow means he doesn't get the inherent differential treatment characters like xun'e get, which bypasses goblin aggression, but people still give him shit for being half drow

his life fucking sucks

anyway i'm still working on his background - i want to give him a human parent and a drow parent in a way that's potentially actually interesting and not just some stupid or shitty bullshit, and thinking about how he eventually came to the church of eilistraee. i'm having trouble settling on anything, though, especially incorporating the necromancy thing - where does a good character generally even learn necromancy? i don't imagine there are necromantic books just sitting around, so i think a reformed villain parent would be fun...(make it the human parent contrasting to the actually pretty normal drow parent? could be funny)

but anyway everyone except for wyll and karlach hates him. he's off-putting and is trying really hard not to be That Guy but is having a difficult time not bringing up his religion constantly and wanting to pray for people. though it's almost circled around to being sort of endearing and at least he's useful as a ridiculously tall meat shield. with low strength bc he's a wizard

he's romancing wyll. also the church of eilistraee apparently do interpretative dance to their goddess every night so that's gonna be a cute little tie-in. like yes wyll he would LOVE to dance but maybe he's not used to your kind of dancing (he's got some dancing naked in the moonlight hippie shit bc that's how eilistraee is apparently)

on the other end of the spectrum is joy. they/them. some sort of tiefling idr, battle master fighter, haunted one background

so like as a durge they don't have much backstory aside from, y'know, the canon. i have another durge who resists the urge (but he's also pretty boring and has no personality <3 idk i'm not super inspired by durge since the amnesia and canon backstory feels rather restricting. i'll figure it out) but was like ok well i'll make one who indulges the urge and play for as long as i can stand it before being mean in a video game becomes too much for me

the out of universe reason for joy only resisting the urge is that even when doing my best to be mean i don't want to kill any of my companions. the in-universe reason is that they initially just really wanted to see someone turn into a mindflayer bc they thought it sounded cool as hell

though obviously they don't have much of a history of being friends or allies to people, they become rather enamored with having a posse and become very indulgent toward their allies. well, the allies who remained after they slaughtered the grove that is

while they do indulge the urge most times the dialogue options allow me to, they're not necessarily that evil outside of that - if the urge isn't particularly calling for blood they're weirdly capable of being relatively chill, though still an asshole. (they gave the prisoner in the goblin camp and healing potion and let him go. after torturing him a lot first for no reason, of course, but still)

hilariously shadowheart initially HATED them and told them they were only good as a meatshield. eventually she warmed up to them. somehow. lae'zel thinks they're too indulgent and chaotic but minthara thinks they're alright at least

though joy did become besties with astarion, joy was drawn towards gale, who talked a lot of shit when joy killed alfira but then sure was weirdly ok with it when joy thought about kissing him during their moment in the weave (honestly the kissing thought was mostly to avoid projecting the immediately obvious thoughts about dismemberment, and joy is trying not to threaten their friends! honest!)

and he didn't react to torturing that guy. and really didn't seem to mind joy biting another guy's toe straight off. and joy sees that dark streak of ambition and is delighted. and even after the slaughter at the grove, gale stays, and in the shadow-cursed lands he's even made comments about how attractive they look after a battle....they didn't even have to try to manipulate him or anything he's out here happily going down a corruption arc all by himself.

tbh i chickened out and initially decided that they'd resent sceleritas telling them what to do and have them not kill isobel but. well. i think i'm gonna go through and commit and get that slayer form. esp since jaheira kept fucking dying at moonrise no matter how hard i tried to keep her alive. we'll see if i have the willpower to have astarion and shart go down their bad character routes.

(i hate ascension but the dynamic of "exes but still friends" in the supervillain context is really funny. esp considering how dogshit astarion definitely would be at being a vampire lord. sorry no i'm not helping you take over baldur's gate we're not even an item anymore i'm too busy helping my boyfriend defy the gods or w/e he's doing <3 taking over baldur's gate is small potatoes. i'll still come over and we can disembowel ppl together if you want. make an afternoon out of it.)

in the end they'll probably reject bhaal? probably? again i feel like i maybe should just commit to going fully evil route but i kinda like the idea that they do save the city and everyone has to put up with this wretched piece of shit who no one likes being the hero and trying to install their flop boyfriend as the new god of magic or whatever.

joy sucks but i kinda love them it's just hilarious how terrible they are.

Steve watched you in the ammunition store playing around with Dustin, you both stopped deciding it was time to be serious before bursting into another fit of giggles. He let out a sigh grabbing a bottle of gasoline and put it in the shopping cart roughly causing Robin to flinch.

“Are you okay?”

Steve chuckled and nodded his head. “yup. just peachy!”

Dustin ran up to Steve and Robin with a wide smile on his face. “Guys check it out! y/n gave me a bandanna and tied it like eddie’s! pretty sick right?” Dustin asked while doing a pose. Steve smiled then looked around the shop, his eyes frantically looking for you in the big store.

“Hold on, where's y/n?”

You cocked the shotgun, a small smile on your face at how easily you handled it.

“How much is this?” You asked the man working the counter.

“$120.99, but I'll throw in twenty rounds buckshot for you.”

you smiled at the man and nodded while inspecting the gun that was in your hands.

“Hey, can I see this pretty 357 please?” you heard a familiar voice ask. the blood in your veins ran cold and you shivered. you turned your head and let out a curse when you saw Jason Carver. You quickly look back down at the gun trying to shield your face as best as you could, your breathing picked up a bit as you gripped the gun.

“y/n l/n.” you heard him say. You close your eyes and let out a sigh. you forced a smile as you looked at him.

“I didn't expect to find you here.” he said while holding a gun in his hand.

your heart was beating out of your chest and the only thing you could think to yourself was please don't let them find eddie.

“yeah, well it's just, scary times.” you say while looking at him. Jason wasn't the best looking guy in your book, but he also wasn't the ugliest. You took this time to study him. He had dark circles under his eyes and his skin looked a shade paler than usual.

“I'm sorry,” you began. “about um, Chrissy.”

He nodded his head at you and put down the gun he was carrying. “Want my advice?”

The word no was on the tip of your tongue. You could say it but the minute he stepped closer everything you once knew fled your mind.

“Shotguns aren't good past anything besides killing birds,” he said standing up straighter. He took a step towards you.

“I mean they have power, sure, but not much range.” He was up close now. You could see the bloodshot red color in his eyes and sweat dancing along his forehead.

“That's just gonna force you into close-up combat, and someone can just grab the barrel like this,” he grunted out as he grabbed the barrel of the shotgun. You let out a gasp as he pulled you toward him.

“And redirect it,” he said. You glared at him and tried snatching the gun back, but you were unsuccessful.

“You know Eddie, right?”

“Only because I tutor him.” you lied.

Jason smirked and shook his head. “I don't buy it, I've seen you come to school with him and even eat lunch at his table. You're one of them, aren't you?”

Your breathing picked up. “What are you talking about?”

“Where are Henderson and Munson?”

“I don't know.”

Jason’s eyes scanned your face. “you're nervous.”

“Like I said, scary times.”

“Everything okay here?” Steve asked, coming up behind you. Jason let go of the gun barrel and looked at Steve.

“Harrington didn't expect to see you here either.”

Steve nodded his head and pushed you behind him. “Yeah well, when your girl wants to protect herself, who are you to stop her?” he said with a tight-lipped smile.

It took everything in you to not roll your eyes at him calling you his girl. Jason’s eyes darted around the store and you prayed to whatever greater power was out there that the rest of the group left the store.

“Nancy with you?”

Steve stood straighter. “Why?”

“Her brother, he's in that cult right?”

Steve made a face. “Mike?”

“Mike…is he here?”

You pushed past Steve and stood in front of Jason, all fear left your body and was replaced with anger. You were angry at Jason for wanting to bring harm in the kid's way, you were angry that the whole town thought Eddie Munson was capable of something like this, and you were mad at Steve. You were mad at him for coming in and acting like your knight in shining armor, and you were mad at him for calling you his girl when you're the furthest thing away from it.

“No, he isn't,” you said in a firm voice.

Jason nodded his head not even looking in your direction. “His friends here?”

Steve opened his mouth ready to say something but you beat him to it. “Jason, if you know what's best for you, you'll leave me and my friends alone. Are we clear?”

Jason’s eyes met yours and if looks could kill you'd both drop to the ground in an instant. The customers in the store suddenly disappeared and you drowned the noise out.

“Are we clear?” you asked again, stepping closer to Jason.

“Crystal,” he said with a smile.

“What the hell was that?! You get a gun in your hand and all of a sudden you stand up to a guy who's three times your size?!” Steve exclaimed while running towards the mobile home. You ran in behind him letting out a sigh of relief when you saw that everyone was safe.

“Just drive Steve!”

Eddie stood up from his spot. “What's going-”

“Your old friends are here!” Erica told Lucas once she settled into her seat.

Steve starts the vehicle and drives off in an instant. You're sitting in the passenger seat looking out the window when you lock eyes with Jason who's standing outside of the store. None of your eyes leave each other until you're out of each other’s view.

“Hey, hello! Are you gonna answer me?” Steve asked while looking at you before he focused on the road again. You let out a scoff.

“Jason isn't three times bigger than me.”

“Really? That's all you got from that?”

You turned your body to glare at Steve.

“What about you?”

He furrowed his brows. “What do you mean?”

“When my girl wants to protect herself, who am I to stop her?” you mocked him. “I didn't need you to step in, I had it handled.”

“Didn't look like it to me,” he muttered under his breath.

You took a deep breath. “I didn't need you, Steve.”

“I'm just saying, you look scared-”

“Stop. I didn't need you. I don't need you.”

Steve took a glance at you. “Are you serious? Now? You wanna do this now?” he asked, slightly raising his voice.

“I'm not some pathetic girl who needs saving Steve! I'm fine! I can handle my own shit.”

Steve rolled his eyes. “Yeah right.”

You unbuckled your seat belt ignoring Steve when he asked where you were going.

“Last time I checked it was always you who came crying to me. I had to save you, Steve! Countless times, and never once did I hear a thank you. We're done, Steve. Whatever the fuck kind of relationship we have, it's over.” your voice was cold and quiet as you stormed to the back of the mobile home and you sat the furthest away from everyone.

Nancy made her way to the passenger seat and took a seat. She cleared her throat and looked at Steve.

“Trouble in Paradise?” she asked quietly.

He led out a dry chuckle. “Yeah, you could say that,” he said while sniffing and wiping at his eyes.

Nancy looked back at you and smiled when she saw you tossing candy into Max's mouth. “She doesn't mean it you know, she's just upset right now.”

Steve shrugged his shoulders. “It doesn't matter, you heard what she said, we're done.”

“You'll both be fine Steve, just give it some time.”

Steve chuckled and shook his head.

“It's silly but, I actually always had this dream that I’d have a really big family. I'm talking like a full brood of Harringtons, like maybe five or six kids.”

“Six?!”

Steve smiled. “Yeah, six little nuggets, three girls, three boys.” he felt tears begin to prick his eyes and he swallowed the lump that was forming in his throat. “Every summer, I figured all of us Harringtons, we’d pack into something like this,” he said, waving his hand around to gesture to the mobile home. “and we’d just see the country. You know, the Rockies, the Grand Canyon, maybe Yellowstone.” He looked in the rearview mirror, his heart clenching when he sees Eddie tying a matching bandana around your head, your smile as bright as ever.

“We’d end up in some beachside town in California, spend a week parked in the sand…” he wiped away a stray tear that fell down the left side of his face, and focused back on the road. “I'd probably learn to surf or something.”

Nancy smiled. She wondered if Jonathan ever thought about a future with her like Steve has with you. The only difference is that Jonathan knows he's talking about Nancy. “That sounds nice.”

Steve glanced at her then back at the road. “Yeah?”

“Yeah, except for the part about six kids.” Nancy decided to play with fire.

“I don't think y/n would have that many.”

“What-”

“Sounds like a total nightmare!” she exclaimed while looking out the window and laughing.

Steve rolled his eyes and pointed to the kids in the back. “If only I had some practice.”

“Fair enough.” Nancy laughed out. A comfortable silence was shared between the two of them before Steve decided to break it.

“Hey, I have a question.”

Nancy let out a hum and closed her eyes.

“Did you mean everything you said?”

Her eyes opened and she looked over at him. “When?”

“When we broke up.”

Nancy cleared her throat and she sat up. “I don't know…I was upset about what happened to Barb, and I still am,” she said in a hushed tone. “but that didn't give me the right to take it out on you. I'm sorry for that.”

“Did you ever love me?”

Nancy’s gaze dropped down to her hands as she nervously played with her fingers. “At times.”

Steve nodded his head. “But not all the time, right?”

“I'm sorry,” she whispered.

Steve wasn't sure what hurt more. Was it that Nancy never really loved him as much as he loved her? Or was it the fact that you had your head in Eddie's lap trying to get some sleep, his leather jacket draped over your upper body acting like a blanket? His hands gripped the steering wheel, knuckles turning white when he saw Eddie gently tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. You peeked one eye open and smiled at him letting out a giggle that Steve only seemed to hear.

Steve stopped driving the car noticing they were near an empty field. You let out a squeak at the sudden stop and blushed when you felt Eddie's arm on your waist.

“Careful there, I know you're falling for me but don't take it literally,” he teased.

You rolled your eyes, sat up, and handed him his jacket. “Yeah right, you wish Munson.”

You all stepped out of the vehicle letting out groans as you all stretched your muscles out. Everyone went to their own area of the field. Robin and Steve stayed near the home while filling empty bottles with gasoline and stuffing rags in them. Max and Nancy went a little further out. Nancy was sawing off the barrel of the shotgun you bought while Max watched.

“Is this legal?” Max asked her while holding the old ice chest and the end of the shotgun still.

“Actually, I think it's a felony.”

“Right,” Max said, nodding her head.

“But it guarantees one thing, I won't miss,” she said before she knocked off the barrel with the saw.

Dustin and Eddie were making shields that had nails facing the opposite direction. You let out a giggle when you saw the pair play fighting, both of them trying to make the best out of a moment like this.

You sat with Erica and Lucas, making your own versions of spears for everyone. Erica tried telling you about what she found under Lucas’ bed but he kept screaming every time she mentioned it. Eddie walked up to the three of you with a smile on his face.

“Sinclairs, y/n.” he greeted. “How are the spears coming on?”

Lucas gave him a thumbs up before Erica rolled her eyes at him.

“Flip that damn thumb around.”

Lucas glared at her. “What?”

She handed you the spear she was working on and took Lucas’. “It's too loose Lucas. This isn't a basketball game where they blow the whistle when your shoes fall off.”

You giggled and looked up at Eddie when you saw he offered you a hand. You stood next to him listening to the siblings bickering.

“Okay, for the record my shoes never fell off.”

“Okay, for the record it's kinda hard for your shoes to fall off when you're riding the bench.”

That made Eddie snort.

“And yet for some reason, you show up to every game!”

Erica let out a questionable hum. “Except for the one that mattered, plus mom and dad forced me.”

Lucas shook his head. “Bull! Mom and dad can't force you to do shit!”

Erica smirked. “Well, even though you're a bench riding loser, you're still my brother. Just the facts.” she finished before handing Eddie the spear. You handed her her spear back and ran towards Dustin who was playing with the shield.

“These look sick, dusty!” you said while picking one up.

“Thanks! Eddie was talking about if we had some paint it would look even better.”

You nodded your head trying to figure out what they'd paint on their shields.

You held the shield up in the air and made a surprised noise. “It's light.”

“And durable,” Eddie added. He grabbed the shield from you and handed you the spear Erica gave him.

“No more retreating from Eddie that banished,” he said to himself. You placed a hand on his shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze.

“We're gonna clear your name, don't worry. Eddie the banish will soon be Eddie the hero.”

Eddie smiled at you and dropped the shield, crossing his arms over his chest. “You think we'll win?”

You shrugged your shoulders. “I've only done this three times, so sorry if I seem a little cocky.”

Eddie chuckled and brought you into a hug. “Never change l/n. Promise me that.”

You pulled away and narrowed your eyes at him. “Only if you promise to stop talking like you're gonna die.”

“I just don't get it,” Steve said under his breath.

“Get what?”

Steve looked at robin and furrowed his brows. “He graduated like two years ago.”

“So?”

“So he's in college, which means he was visiting on spring break and fast times was returned like…I don't know, a week ago?”

Robin looked at Steve in disbelief and rolled her eyes.

“Unless she has like, I don't know some horn dog brother that we didn't know of. Which is possible, or she's just really into-”

“Steve!” Robin said, cutting him off mid-sentence.

“What?”

“I don't care!” She put down the bottle she was holding, giving her full attention to Steve. “And I don't understand why you do either with everything that's going on! Honestly,” she said with a sigh. “This feels like the perfect time for that little pull of the rug because in the face of the world ending the stakes of my love life feel spectacularly low.”

Steve looked at her and gave her a small nod. “Yeah, I mean I get you there but I still have hope,” he says while taking a glance at you and handing the bottle he was holding to Robin. A small part of him wants to give up. He wants to let you go and give you the space you need and have you come back whenever you're ready, but there's a much bigger part of him that refuses to let you go. Steve knows he's lost a decent amount of fights, but he will not lose the fight when it comes to you.

He has so many questions running through his head like why does ignoring him hurt him more than the breakup with Nancy did? And when the hell did you and Eddie get so close? He's never even heard you talk about Eddie!

Robin took the bottle with a smirk. “Not everything has a happy ending.”

“Yeah, yeah believe me I know.” he steals another glance at you, rolling his eyes when he sees Eddie throw you over his shoulder while Dustin chants: banish her! Banish her! Banish her!

Robin lets out a breathy laugh and follows Steve's gaze to you.

“I'm not talking about failed romance,” she said with a roll of her eyes. “I just, I have this terrible gnawing feeling that…it might not work out for us this time.”

Steve looked at her with fear and confusion visible on his face. “You think we shouldn't be doing this?”

Robin paused, trying to think of the right thing to say knowing they were all a little in too deep now.

“I think we're mad fools, the lot of us,” she said, pouring more gasoline into the bottle. She let out a sigh looking at all of the people she loved and considered her closest friends. “but if we don't stop him, then who will?”

They both chuckled when they saw Dustin fall to the ground, you hopping over him like a game of leapfrog with Eddie not too far behind. Erica and Lucas twirled the spears around and made stabbing motions trying to get used to the feeling of it in their hands, while Nancy practiced aiming the gun Max gave her suggestions here and there.

“We have to try, right?”

Steve gave her a slight nod, his gaze finally meeting hers. “Yeah.” He held up a bottle and tilted it toward her.

“To killing Vecna,”

Robin had a smile on her face as she reached behind her to grab a bottle, clinking it against the one Steve had. “Slash Henry,”

“Slash one.”

Tearrorizer Route (Weird/Snowgrave Route AU)

(Will update when I get time. There’s more to add and things to rewrite)

I haven’t seen one with Seam yet (please tell me if one exists already so I can go apologize to the creator. though knowing my imagination this is probably not gonna be too similar... hopefully), so here we go.

Note: Whenever I refer to Kris, I’m mostly talking about the Soul/Player acting through Kris and not Kris themself. I just say Kris for simplicity.

Also: since this is an AU I’m just gonna pretend the thing with Darkners turning to stone in incompatible Dark Worlds isn’t a thing. That way this thing can happen.

EDIT: Nevermind I came up with an actual explanation now instead of just using AU logic. Basically, since the Devilsknife never turns to stone in the Cyber World I’m assuming Jevil is somehow immune to that, and chances are Spamton’s items won’t turn either in future chapters so it seems that Shadow Crystal holders are safe (well, since we don’t have any explanations currently I can use that as the explanation for this AU). In this AU, Seam would’ve taken Jevil’s from Kris before things start to go off the normal path so maybe that’d give them some kind of protection? (I also have another explanation I’d probably need to put in its own post related to my headcanons about both Seam and Ralsei regarding their Light World equivalents but I’m not even going to try to explain that one in less than three paragraphs. I know I can’t do it).

I picture this in my head in like a fangame style so I’m probably gonna describe it sound like a hack concept or something, maybe. I don’t know actually. I swear I suck at this.

*Kris pressures Seam into going with them by repeatedly trying to talk to them until it’s clear what they want. Eventually gets them to cave but they hide in Kris’s in pocket/inventory with Lancer and Rouxls (and the Original Starwalker, can’t forget that), and sticks around when Rouxls ditches them. Gets some nice bonding time with Lancer. Things play out pretty normally until the group splits up in Cyber City. (also note that Susie has the Devilsknife here).

*Noelle never joins Kris in this AU. Instead Kris ends up kinda pressuring Seam (pictured: repeatedly selects them in the inventory) into coming out and helping them.

*According to the Undertale cross-stitch book, Seam used to use a seam ripper in combat. They bust it back out for this.

*Has card-themed attacks (all suits). I’ve seen most fans portray them with fire magic but idk where this originates from and can’t remember any mention of this in the game. If it’s true then sure, lump that on. Also has sewing-themed things. Though the most spells a character has in Deltarune is 3 so maybe lump all the card things into one attack, idk, this is an AU concept. All these spells can help advance the route.

*Seam gets increasingly less jokey as the route progresses and and they “get stronger.” They basically become unresponsive beyond the occasional free words and, of course, the acts they do when commanded.

*Fast forward to when the group reunites at Queen’s Mansion and things are kinda in shambles there because it turns out Jevil’s on the loose. The Devilsknife kinda just vanished as soon as Susie took her eyes off him and after she and Ralsei got to the mansion they understood why: he was running amuck there. Group splits up again to find him. Susie and Ralsei both make their own comments on the state Seam’s in but ultimately don’t think much of it because they trust Kris and didn't see all the violence... oh boy...

*Unlike the actual canon route, here they have to keep the violence up even after entering Queen’s Mansion ‘cus Seam is still in the party (while in the actual route everything you do without Noelle in the party is inconsequential to the route, meaning you can actually still recruit some mansion enemies like Tasque Manager and Mauswheel. Or at least that’s what I’ve heard, I’m too much of a wuss to play the route).

*Eventually the two find the jester and he reveals that he’s been doing all this mainly to get Seam’s attention ‘cus he missed playing with them in particular so much (Jevil likes a good challenge every now and then...). However, he kinda quickly notices that something’s not right with his ex-companion, especially since they don’t even seem to recognize him at first. And when they do, they don’t even respond, they’re just silent for some reason...

*Kris orders Seam to proceed until a fight starts. Jevil is suddenly not so enthusiastic about this, and makes repeated comments about their strange behavior.

*I imagine it’d still be possible to abort the route at this point (like with Berdly’s fight in the Weird Route, where it could be aborted via FIGHTing, not using SnowGrave, or by ACTing [with new ACT options making the entire thing out to have just been one big prank on Berdly to make him mad). However, what’s important right now is the special new spell/Snowgrave-equivalent: Tearrorizer (because pun). All you need to know is that it involves scissors (if this were a game attack the screen would cut to black after the scissors appear and a sound effect would play so it’d be kinda ambiguous but then the screen would cut back and, at least when used on a Darkner, the normal death animation for them [by that I mean the one you see when you hack the game to allow Snowgrave to be used on normal enemies, where they turn into some kind of red mist and blow away] would show so thankfully it wouldn’t be TOO gruesome...)

Mostly stays out of other countries’ business, but will step in as a last resort 

Has some of the most well-known citizens in the world because… they’re pure chaos

Has vast deposits of ores and gemstones, and the metalwork from Crystallos (mainly weaponry, armor, and jewelry) is highly sought after 

The only known food export is potatoes.  Wonder why…

Has a very large reach, so some members have dabbled in espionage for various groups 

From the outside it looks like the whole thing is kept together with duct tape and hope, but its actually pretty functional

The main members are just… a lot. 

More concerned with keeping things working than influencing other nations (although there are still jokes about it) 

The most valuable thing they trade in is information

They have a lot of fingers in a lot of pots, but are trusted with their information

Just gonna shovel a few mini thoughts and theories because all my thoughts either get validated or obliterated by the game, spoilers obviously, based on the stuff I know

And obviously don’t reply or reblog with confirmation of anything until I play the game thamk ;-;

- I know this game has time travel and a fucking youtube thumbnail spoiled me on the fact that the new gen champs will be there but I guess that’s ok since I already speculated as such based on the datamine, but anyhow, Botw 2 trailer shows Hyrule without any shrines or towers, does it take place in the past? Probably not considering you can still see the Garrison ruins and stuff so the Calamity still happened whenever that takes place but who knows. I can’t tell if Hyrule Castle is in ruin yet

- Pretty sure the other characters like Hestu and Kohga and such will be playable. At the very least King Rhoam is the most likely based on this stuff from the Creating a Champion book 

- Also while we’re on the thought of playable characters, pretty sure Maz Koshia is playable too. And based on that and the fact that time travel exists and the fact that the tapestry of 10k years ago is a thing, maybe we time travel to 10k years ago and fight the original original battle against the Calamity 

- So a lot of the old landmarks are actually gonna be important in the game (Like Rauru being the blacksmith element) so I’m thinking these areas might be visited or deemed important at some point 

(I mean, that’s what I would use anyhow as a game designer. You can’t just have cool locations and not use them)

- I’m pretty sure you first meet Hestu on the way to the Lost Woods to pull out the Master Sword and I’m thinking each korok seed you find is a way to like, level up his attacks to when you eventually play as them at some point. Or maybe he does those korok trial things that we see in botw idk the korok forest is a big place

- You know that time travel trope where you have like a photo or painting that changes in real time depending on events that time traveling people do in the past? well

I’m thinking the tapestry is gonna act like that considering the one in Age of Calamity is already super different. 1) The castle at the top is white and polished whereas the botw one isn’t 2) There’s two pilots for each beast (again the whole new gen champs teaming up thing) and 3) the eggbot fades into the tapestry in real time so yeah pretty sure this is a story telling device for timetravel (and also kinda further hones the theory that they’re traveling back to 10k years ago)

- Kohga is probably gonna be playable but is this game gonna do that thing where the badguys fight and team up with the heros to take on the bigger threat?? I really hope it doesn’t...but then again Kohga is the only “bad” character from the datamine and he is pretty gullible so maybe he has a redemption or something and that’s why we play as them but who knows. Hopefully I’m wrong and I know that in old HW games you can play as the bad guy so we’ll see I guess

- Oh right and I completely forgot the great fairies were a thing maybe they work similar to the blacksmith and you can complete their quests to upgrade armour?

mako is a great bender and that’s ok

i can’t with people who are upset that Mako can bend lightening because its supposed to be such a rare skill for exceptional firebenders.

1. Bolin and Mako are both exceptional. they’re shown to have great innate talent for bending. idk why it would be a shitty thing that they’re kind of prodigies. why on earth would they be in the krew if they weren’t well above average benders? and maybe one of the reasons why he was so shitty at relationships is bc he spent all his time training and honing his innate talent so that he could provide for himself and his brother and therefore spent v little time interacting w others and now is just trying his best to make it up as he goes along. (/s/ i mean, its not like he learns from his mistakes and grows into a brave, selfless person who learns to put others first, he has to be perfect from the beginning of the story right???) 

2. you can accept that toph learned to bend, even for combat, by observing badger moles, and katara survived the entire first book before they got to the North pole with basic forms learned from a scroll but you can’t accept that Mako learned how to bend lightening probably by observing other benders on the streets and in the pro-bender gym (like Bolin said he learned). Hell, maybe someone from the triads taught him. Its implied that he did some rather intense (for lack of a better word) things for them, maybe he had his own Yakone in the triads who pushed him to learn how to bend lightening so he would be more useful to them. of course you can argue that there’s not enough evidence in text for this but it’s v clear that Mako was the character given least thought by the writers (like, his arc in season 2 is just. he’s put in so many difficult positions, does his best, keeps getting punished by the narrative, then the writers just decide that he’s not worth their time and abandon him to focus on everyone else) so I don’t see why its unreasonable for us to try and piece together parts of his identity to make up for how the writers short-changed him.

3. if ur stopping point is just that bending lightening is supposed to be a one in a million talent, even harder to learn than metal bending which is now widely used, then idk what to tell u, except maybe its similar to how the standards we have for indv sports now like ice skating and gymnastics have increased dramatically over the last century or so as people have pushed boundaries and found new ways of training, so maybe bending has changed in the same way. maybe bc of gazhan and bolin, lava bending will become more common too.

4. this idea that lightening bending is v uncommon also isn’t rly inconsistent w lok’s world-building imo tho i accept that this is my weakest point. there’s millions of people in republic city. it makes sense that out of the few that can bend lightening, they’d find work at the power plant, especially if they aren’t from well established families and so can’t get work with a guild. it doesn’t mean that there are suddenly an exorbitant amount of fire benders who can bend lightening, it just means that the v few who can are gonna use their bending to make a living in whatever way they can, especially bc as Mako said, it seemed to pay well. Republic City exemplifies how bending fits into the new industrialised world order, how its used to enhance engineering and science, i honestly thought the power plant was a neat bit of world-building, tho i understand that’s a subjective opinion.

tldr: its perfectly reasonable that Mako can bend lightening. as someone who loves him I can accept that there’s plenty wrong with how his character was written but his exceptional bending ability isn’t one of them.

January Week 3:

Good news: I’m just a few pounds away from my pre-covid-pre-injury-pre-craziness weight. I haven’t been cutting calories super hard, but I have been tracking and keeping things moderately between 1700-1900 calories. 2,000 on high refuel days. I’m going to keep going in order to trim back down lol.

Mentally, I’m in a trashcan. I blame the current times for that one and the lull before spring. I know there are certain things can do to combat this metaphorical dumpster and good fortune favors those who help themselves. I can do things to pull myself out. My soul wants something to look forward to and I’m getting hella tired out here. And even if I do find positive things to do, anxiety still lingers somewhere in the back of my mind. Can’t get no satisfaction right now, I suppose. This has been a test of mental strength and stamina of spirit. I’m probably scoring a D right now. D for downtrodden and dismal. I wouldn’t mind raising that to a C for cheerful or a B for better.

I allowed my body to recover for 4 back to back days this week. Hot baths. Hiking. Yoga. Piano music. Reading. Writing. Counting my blessings. Enjoying being a soft bitch. Letting myself enjoy that. Life is meant to be enjoyed. Plus, it’s been rainy and snowy until now. I didn’t count mileage. I’m considering this a deload week which was supposed to be next week to recover from consistently building weekly mileage the last two months. I think month to month mileage matters more than week to week, anyways.

On the flip side I decided not to be a complaining-whiny-soft-bitch as it only exacerbates my mental situation and puts me into a pit of despair and I cannot!!! go!!! back!!! there!!! again!!! and it’s time to Carpe Diem out here no matter what. I’m just needing a lot of things right now like other people, mental and social stimulation and something good and exciting to look forward to. Time is ticking!! away!! and I hate sitting here watching the years click by waiting for shit to happen. I’ve always been an introvert but goddamn it this is just too much (!!!). I want to do neat things!!! And I don’t even have any kids to tie me down this is ridiculous. A major test of will, spirit, patience, resolve. My adventurous spirit is suffering but idk maybe its self inflicted considering there are still things I can make happen, but with people? well idk everyone seems nervous. I performed a body building split to remind myself that I can pick up hard things and put them back down. Back/biceps, chest/triceps, shoulders/glutes, abs/legs. It felt good to challenge my mind and muscles in that way. Planks to strengthen my core and pushups everyday. I missed being strong. I put running on the back burner this week. I don’t have anything to train for or get excited about, not even anyone to run with right now, so I’m ok with doing that. The strength is good for me.

I’m making it a point to adventure this week/weekend. I met up with a friend on Tuesday and I’m going out this weekend with friends. Like out out. I am ITCHING for action and adventure and a stiff drink. Two girls said they would be up to rock climbing with me soon. We just need to plan it ahead of time. I just wanna get my foot in the door and possibly get comfortable with going to the meetups and showing up alone. I’m also saying screw it and going ahead with planning my trip out to Arizona (my homestate). I have a special someone out there and was supposed to go last year but with everything going on... I haven’t felt very welcomed around there (😕😞🙁😞ultimate sad) and it’s left me feeling really really down in the dumps. I’m gonna go ahead and plan it out regardless and make the trip happen. I’m mostly hiking anyways. I might see some stuff outside of Vegas and up in Flagstaff but I decided screw it this is the year to do it!!!!!! My fam is only a few hours from the Grand Canyon so I’ll be wanting to camp out there again and see the stars. Fuck it all. I’ve been on the wrong side of the Mississippi for far too long. There’s not much I give a rats ass about anymore. I probably sound terrible saying that but I have lost my marbles and I don’t think anyone is listening to this rant. Maybe I’ll find them (marbles) in the Grand Canyon. Threw my heart in there a long time ago and I better go back for it. It’d be neat as hell to run the Mesa marathon/half buttttt it’s cancelled. That’s something I’ve been wanting to do and when I looked it up a few weeks ago it put me in even more of a grumpy headspace lol. Really trying to find the light and keep on keeping on - finding a way - any way. Maybe I’ll feel more positive this fall with the possibility of running the in-person Indy Monumental orrrrr maybe I’ll find a better trail race that’s not already booked up or maybe that’s just something that’s gone up in smoke for me and I to need adapt and set my sights on something else. All I know is I need a stiff drink lol.

AnS Characters as D&D Classes

Honestly this is kind of difficult because all the AnS characters are so beautifully complex and it's hard to fit them into one class, but I tried my best

Shirayuki - Cleric/Ranger

I think Shirayuki might be the most difficult to classify. When I think of her, the first word that comes to mind is healer. She's very focused on using her skills, knowledge and research to help people. In the AnS universe, she's not a fighter. Not physically, anyway, although the longer the manga goes on the more skilled she becomes with using words to cut and discover. But Shirayuki is primarily a healer, and the Cleric class is the closest I could get to that. In the D&D world, she might be more of a fighter and maybe(?) have a god she devotes herself to? (There aren't really any deities or religious systems in the AnS world that I know of).

This is the closest I could get, and maybe Shirayuki could multiclass into a Ranger or something, since she also has a strong connection to nature and could probably use that knowledge to survive out in the wild.

(Plus I just love the idea of Shirayuki with a bow. Very Yona-like.)

Zen - Paladin/Fighter

I feel like 3/5 of the Zen Squad will be either Paladins or Fighters, tbh. Zen, Kiki and Mitsuhide could all multiclass into one or the other. The lack of any deity or religion makes it difficult to classify the knight-figures as full Paladins, which is the closest I could think of to Zen's princely natures.

Fighters can easily be knights too, but they tend to focus more on the art of combat and physical prowess. Paladins have a stronger sense of justice, right and wrong, and a desire to uphold goodness, which I feel characterizes Zen very well. He's a prince, and his primary responsibility will always be to his kingdom. Zen has a strong sense of duty but also fairness and rightness, which is why I classed him primarily as a Paladin and not a Fighter.

Obi - Rogue/Monk

HOOOOOOOO BOY. If you know me at all you know my obsession with the Obiyuki ship (I WILL GO DOWN TO HELL OR UP TO HEAVEN WITH THEM) and Obi as a character particularly.

Obi is obviously a Rogue. For so many reasons. I even rolled up an actual D&D character for a campaign based off of him. That's how much I love him. Obi in the D&D-verse would be amazing.

"A scoundrel who uses stealth and trickery to overcome obstacles and enemies" (DNDBeyond) if that doesn't SCREAM Obi, idk what does. Especially pre-Shirayuki Obi. Before he met the Zen Squad, Obi was the classic rogue. Master of a wide variety of skills, putting those skills to use in mostly illegal or at least illicit activities, prioritizing cunning over brute strength...yeah. I don't really need to go on.

After Obi joins the Squad and becomes an official knight, he's not really a stereotypical rogue anymore in that he has a family, a home, something to protect beyond his own self-interest. He becomes much nobler, more loyal, a true knight. He just happens to be a different sort of knight than most others, putting his skills and cunning to use in a different capacity.

I would also definitely multiclass Obi into Monk because of the martial arts. Obi has extraordinary control over his physical self and can use his body to devastating effect in several ways, which is very Monk-like (sword-flipping handstand AHEM). I debated making Monk primary, but I realized pretty quickly that Rogue fits Obi first way more. The biggest reason against putting Monk first is that Obi doesn't have much of a spiritual connection to his skills, nor did he come from a monastery/academy nor have traditional training. Definitely a Rogue first.

Mitsuhide and Kiki - Fighter/Paladin

Mitsuhide and Kiki's fighting styles are very similar, especially because of their occupation as Zen's aides and guards. "Well-rounded" specialists" is a good way to describe them. They are dedicated knights and skilled warriors for sure.

The only reason I wouldn't make them Paladin-Fighters like Zen is because they have different goals and duties. Their primary goals as Zen's knights is to protect him. They don't have the same responsibility of running a kingdom and navigating politics the way Zen does. Okay, maybe Kiki does somewhat as the heiress of Seiran, but still not in the same capacity as Zen. They have strong senses of justice, etc, but it's just not the same feeling as Zen. I think of Mitsuhide and Kiki as warriors first and diplomats/nobles second, which is why I'd make them Fighter-Paladins.

I'm not gonna go through the whole cast of characters of course, I mainly wanted to describe the Zen Squad. But I'll add a few more here:

Ryuu - Wizard

Ryuu is a NERD™. Yes he's a healer like Shirayuki, but he's always been more prone to scholarly pursuits, staying up until ungodly hours to research something highly specific. He also has a fantastic memory, and of course he's a pharmaceutical prodigy by age 12. The kid's a genius, and he would be very much at home in any library, researching plants, medicines, diseases and cures.

Ryuu is very much a Ravenclaw, and Wizard is the most Ravenclaw, nerdy class there is. Learning magic from books, scholarly knowledge of the arcane, that's what Ryuu would be doing.

I could multiclass him into either Cleric for the healing powers like Shirayuki, or Ranger for the nature connection and knowledge. I mostly see him as just a wizard though, probably specializing in compounds and minerals to create complex magical effects.

Izana - Paladin/Wizard

Our King Izana is hard to classify, man. He's such a complex character but we don't know all that much about how he thinks or works. He might be even harder for me to classify than Shirayuki.

I don't really see Izana fitting any of the D&D classes strongly. He's very much a skilled warrior for sure, like Zen, but he doesn't really fit the Paladin bill in the same way his younger brother does. He's much more mysterious. He's also very very smart, skilled in politics and diplomacy. He's good at manipulating people too and using any means necessary to protect what's close to him. Very much a Slytherin. There's not really any D&D class that deals with the political side of things a whole lot. Charisma and Intelligence yeah, but most of the classes are focused more on fighting style or something else like music/art (Bard).

If I had to choose, I'd probably go Paladin anyway, just because of Izana's relation to Zen and the Paladin's focus on Strength and Charisma. I'd make him an Int-heavy Paladin though, and multiclass him into Wizard because of the strong emphasis on Intelligence and Wisdom.

Also Bards have a reputation for being horny af, and although I feel bad, I think of how he wanted to make Shirayuki his concubine at first just because of her beautiful hair

I know Raji has changed and I think he's a great character who obviously learned from his mistakes

But it's just funny

I love Raji and him being a stereotypical horny Bard who loves his friends is absolutely hilarious
