People need to stop being such fucking pricks.
Dream face revealed obviously, and it’s already all over every inch of the internet. Surprise surprise. That’s amazing for him! Im so happy he was comfortable enough with his community to do that!
Except now people are just being dicks about it. I have seen an overwhelming amount of people saying “put the mask back on,” or “shouldn’t have taken off the mask,” like WHAT THE HELL?? Bro was brave enough to show his face to millions of people and this is how people treat him? Let’s see your face then too. How about that? How about every person leaving those comments share their face and have hate and not feel like shit?
Don’t be an ass people. He did it hoping his community would be positive.

have been analysing this dream face reveal situation. i have seen the guy. he's a normal guy. why would you even bother to turn "he's ugly" into a trending hashtag? aren't we done in 2022 with bullying people for their looks? i'm genuinely concerned about people's brains at this point because internet has desensitised you (twitter) all so much... and i'm saying this as someone who hasn't watched a single video of his.

he really is so young and beautiful and bright eyed with all the love and ambition and kindness you could ever have stuffed into his 23 year old 6'2" body like love is real and embodied by a boy in florida who just met his best friend for the first time in real life after knowing each other for years and hes smiling and laughing and setting off fireworks with his family that he found and made and loves so dearly and one million people celebrated the fact that he has a strong jawline and fluffy hair and big shining eyes and sharp white teeth and he is surrounded by people who love him tonight. and nothing else matters except that.

i feel the internet/tv/movies/media in general has really badly skewed people's ideas of attractiveness and it makes me sad. I've seen a lot of people try to use mcyters being "ugly" as some sort of gotcha moment--i'm not even talking about just dream, i'm talking about pretty much any mcyters and youtubers I've seen. i've been talking about this issue for years now. People loooove to call them ugly or plain or basic or whatever and I'm just like no they look NORMAL.
like this is just what normal human beings look like. they're not airbrushed or posed or whatever. that's literally Just A Human Person. they look like random everyday people you could see in the store or whatever
and it's not??? bad?? or cringe?? to be attracted to that?? i think it's actually very healthy and normal to be attracted to Average Norman People. you are a Average Person. I am an Average Person. your neighbor is an Average Person. this is just life and people don't all look like movie stars and that's GOOD! there's also so much more to these things than physical appearance as well
i'm not saying you have to find dream or any of these youtubers hot of course (it's ofc fine if you don't think someone is attractive) but some people get so weird about it! it's so weird to be making fun of the fact that other people like them/find them attractive and it's so weird to be mean about how they look or bodyshaming them!

Unfollow me if you genuinely think bullying and degrading someone because of how they look is funny. /srs
I may not agree with everything he's done in regards to certain matters however going as far as to say disgusting things about his appearance? Please never interact with me.
Already unfollowed a mutual of mine and softblocked them on Twitter because they were laughing about how "HE'S UGLY" was trending.
I know he said he's desensitized to these things yet I'm not. I went through years of body image issues because of people making comments about me. It's upsetting to see people say things about features he can't change.
Body shaming someone is never okay. Other people look like him or have similar traits. Please get it through your head that belittling someone's looks is wrong.

Isn't it funny how Amazon said they were going to talk with Peter Jackson about RoP but they never did speak to him. And yet they stole a ton of visual cues from his movies? Hmm...
At some point they just couldn't decide if they wanted to praise Jackson's movies or take distance from them. In every single interview they kept contradicting what they said before.
This was when I started to get angry tho:
*Insert Elijah Wood's hysterical laugher meme here*

Ok, I'm watching Rings of Power (in small doses)...first impressions below.
(Part 1)
Valinor is not Heaven anymore than Galadriel or Luthien are the Virgin Mary...does no one understand what subcreation is?
Bullying in Valinor...unlikely as portrayed. The elves are mostly unfallen at this point and most of the issues are between the adults and after Morgoth starts roaming freely spreading lies. Galadriel is also from a high position in society (a princess) she is hardly an outsider.
Noldor elves absolutely delighted in color and jewelry why is everyone wearing sheets? In fact the Noldor in general just loved making stuff...
To everyone that thinks that the mean elf children are her cousins, Artanis is the youngest child of the youngest son of Finwe...even Amrod and Amras are probably a fair bit older than her.
FINROD"S HAIR! I know it's been said before but wow...ugh. Suspension of disbelief shatters every time it shows up...
Also elves died in Middle Earth before they all moved to the undying lands...so yeah they definitely knew what death was. In fact Artanis and Finderato's uncle was among those presumed lost or dead. (He wasn't, but that's a whole story itself)
And yes, I am using Artanis/Nerwen and Findarato/Artafinde/Ingoldo because nobody is speaking Sindarin in Valinor...and Galadriel hasn't met Celeborn yet (and seems unlikely to at this point) so he hasn't given her the name Galadriel.
moving on....
Wow....that is the most heavily redacted account of the Flight of the Noldor ever...
Where do I start?
Artanis spoke out against Feanor and he personally led his people in an attack on her mother's people...on her grandparents! This is something deeply important to her...in some accounts Tolkien actually has her fighting her cousins and uncle in Alqualondë in defense of the Teleri.
This also makes it look like Finrod is swearing Feanor's oath!...there is one image that Tolkien gives of an oath sworn at this time alongside drawn swords and Finrod is another specifically mentioned by name as having opposed it!
(On a side note given that Finrod is later betrayed because of that oath this is rather sick...almost like releasing a bad Tolkien adaption on the anniversary of his death...)
Once again...Finrod and Galadriel along with Fingolfin and many others spent years crossing the Helcaraxë to get to Middle Earth, THEY DID NOT SAIL THERE.
So far the dialogue is consistently atrocious. The landscapes are pretty but feel cgi and the costumes are uninspired...this was the perfect opportunity to go full panoply of ancient kings...and they didn't. I am not seeing "most expensive tv show in history" anywhere.
NB: I fully intend to criticize blatant betrayals of what Tolkien actually wrote. Tolkien has been a huge part of my life and his writing and the world he created has been a light in many dark places. The characters he wrote have made me want to be a better person and seeing them diminished and twisted is just awful.
So yes, I take it somewhat personally when they are maligned and given that the Silm is my favorite of all Tolkien's writing so this hits very close to home.
That being said, I don't blame people for wanting to see Middle Earth again. I desperately wanted this to be good. And I don't blame the actors who were handed once in a lifetime roles and were clearly very let down by the production itself.
SO why do I feel the need to complain? Well, why do people complain about any bad adaption? Nobody thinks people are wrong to criticize the Percy Jackson movies or that Avatar: The Last Airbender movie that no one talks about about....
So no I am not going to attack people who watch it but I am going to plant my flag here and make my stand. Because this is something that means a great deal to me and I hate seeing to ruined.

And Amazon can't give male elves long hair and female dwarves beards because why???
"Tolkien never said ALL elves have long hair" "Tolkien never said ALL dwarf women have beards" well Tolkien never said Morgoth and Sauron didn't open their own McDonald's in Valinor but you KNOW Morgoth and Sauron DIDN'T OPEN A MCDONALD'S IN VALINOR.
No idea why the elves have short hair but the dwarves is easy: a lot of bla bla bla about strong female characters but they *still* won't let a female character look in a way our own society would consider "ugly". Even if the dwarves follow different (if any) standards of beauty. Literally had a chance of exploring a species without any social or physical difference between both sexes (to the point of many people in the Middle Earth believing dwarf women didn't exist) and said Nope.
Same old hypocrisy I guess. The dwarves deserve better.

I hope the Rings of Power goes the way of most shows nowadays and burns itself out after people binge watch/make the obligatory fan content. Y’know how most newer fandoms become “dead” after the initial hype? Yeah. That has never needed to happen more than here.

So, can I just ask why Elrond is explaining to Celebrimbor of all people, about Dwarven culture in Rings of Power?
Celebrimbor, the man who’s family had interacted and been on good if not friendly terms with the Dwarves since the First Age? I mean, you have Caranthir over here trading with the dwarves. You have Maedhros saving the life of the Dwarven King, Azaghâl. And then you’ve got Curufin, Celebrimbor’s own father being one of the few elves to learn dwarvish, being friends with and exchanging gifts with Telchar the Smith.
Celebrimbor, who’s very name is carved into the Doors of Durin, directly connecting him to the dwarves and showing us his friendship with them? “Speak Friend and Enter” and all that…
I get that the showrunners don’t have rights to the first age, and so can’t directly reference any of Celebrimbor’s family. And maybe they’ll show Celebrimbor’s relationship with the dwarves growing over the course of the show. But even still? Eregion is Khazad-dûm’s neighbor. Even in the Appendices, it states that Eregion was built where it was specifically to trade with the dwarves.
Even within the show’s own logic, it just…it doesn’t make sense. Eregion is Khazad-dûm’s neighbor, Lindon being much farther off. Celebrimbor would have had far more opportunity to befriend the Dwarves than Elrond would have, simply due to proximity. Celebrimbor had already stated that he respects the dwarves as well, so, for as long as both realms seem to have been established…why hasn’t he reached out to them by now? It ends up making him look incapable of doing anything for himself as the Lord and Leader of the elves in his realm, by making him just stand around for Eru knows how long just…waiting for Elrond to decide to show up?
Honestly, I don’t hate the show. I have my issues with it, and this one is a big one, but the Relationship between Elrond and Durin is cool, and if you like it that’s awesome! I just don’t understand why to facilitate that, the show had to take Celebrimbor’s knowledge of the Dwarves, and his relationship with them, and give it to Elrond. I mean, would it have been so hard to have Celebrimbor introducing Elrond to the dwarves? They could have still had a really awesome friendship developing between Durin and Elrond after being introduced by Celebrimbor. In fact, then we could have two really awesome dwarf/elf friendships, not just through Elrond and Durin, but also through Celebrimbor and Narvi! As far as I’m concerned, the more Elf/Dwarf friendships we have, the better!
Like I said. I don’t hate that Elrond has a Dwarf friend. I’m just annoyed that the showrunners actively made the choice to take Celebrimbor’s knowledge of the Dwarves and and his friendships with them – an aspect of his character that I feel is an important thing – away from him.
They did my boy dirty.

Can we talk about how it isn’t JUST that basically all the male elves have short hair-
-Which is an abomination in it’s own right-
- but also it’s the specific short styles they gave them look like they were done with electric clippers. Like Finrod has a goddamn fade, I cannot.
I look at them and cannot imagine those hairstyles being created in universe, with non-electric tools.
Like I know elves’ bodies and psyches are more in tune with each other, but I don’t think that applies to their hair growing in exactly the style they want and staying there.
Do you know why elves have long hair? Because ten years is like a blink for an elf, imagine the upkeep on short hair over the course of MILLENNIA.
WITH SCISSORS ONLY
Imagine getting a trim every month for HUNDREDS of years to keep that shit looking pristine and consistent. In a war zone if you’re Finrod.
Somehow… they made the elves hair more extra… while making it ugly.

Okay, I saw somebody post that people who enjoy Tolkien fanfic and AU stories shouldn’t be upset about the RoP adaptation, because there’s now another extension to the story.
Amazons RoP isn’t just another AU, some fanfic that was written and posted online for people to read. It’s a full television show, that was produced and marketed as part of the story of Middle Earth. People who go onto sites like AO3 and Fanfic.net know that what they are reading is another writers adaptation of a story that they are already familiar with. However, there are going to be people watching RoP who will never read anything written by Tolkien, so to them, this will be a canon story.
And while I do hope that there are people who like RoP enough to read the books and join the community of people who love Tolkien, it hurts me that there are those who will never truly know Elrond and Galadriel, two of the elven ring-bearers. They won’t see the rise and fall of Numènor, as it happened over thousands of years. There is so much detail and characterization that is lost in the show, and yet, it will be all that some people ever know.
So don’t tell me that the RoP is simply another AU adaptation that I shouldn’t be upset about. I have every right to be upset, as this show has the responsibility of truly representing Tolkien, and they have failed horribly.

My two cents on rings of power after my brain recovered from the damage those two episodes have dealt me. Yes it took me 3 days like Jesus returning from the dead.
Let us begin with the bad stuff
The dialogues. ohmygod the dialogues. They are just so unbelievably BAD. It physically hurt my eardrums to listen to half of those exchanges. While the other half made me cringe so hard I wished I could literally crawl out of my skin.
The costumes. Why are elves dressed with primark plaids and nightshirts? Why are all armour designs so lame?? Why do all the costumes look so bad??? Where’s your goddam budget?????
The hair. All elves have this Elvis Presley cut for no apparent reason. Again, couldn’t you guys find a couple of bucks to buy some wigs?? In that BILLION dollar budget??? No? Okay guess all elves are your average republican parliamentary from the 70’ now.
FINROD. Everything about him is just nope.
Galadriel. Or that impostor that stole her name. What is wrong with her?? Not one of her lines made any sense. Her actions close behind on the not making sense matter. She’s supposed to be a seasoned commander but makes the stupidest choices a military leader could make. Like, for example, going to “hunt down SAURON” with an armada of - hear hear - six puny elves. And I’m supposed to take this seriously?
The harfoots are literally the Croods. Yes the cartoon about the cavemen scared of anything outside their cave. “New is bad.”I’m sure they said that at a certain point.
Celebrimbor wouldn’t have been so bad if they had casted an actor fit to play the role. Like AT LEAST 20 years younger and with long black hair.
Don’t even get me started on Elrond.
The plot. Or rather the lack of thereof. All the characters seemed aimless despite the fact that Galadriel kept repeating that the sole purpose of her existence was “hunting down sauron” sounding like a broken record. They barely introduced the new characters and the ones we (supposedly) know are made barely recognisable so it all feels like a bunch of puzzle pieces haphazardly thrown together.
Now some good stuff
The OST. Good soup.
The orcs/goblins. GREAT designs! Extra creepy. They did a good job there.
The dwarves. Disa in particular was a pleasant surprise, I could even overlook the lack of beard.
Those 7 seconds in which they crammed the entire first age. It wasn’t good per se but they still managed to convey the sheer amount of power Morgoth had. (Or perhaps Melkor’s just such a cool character that not even amazons bad writing could bring him down to nothing.)
Sauron. Or rather his looming presence. Nice. That one shot of him in his spiky helm and armour was pretty cool.
Gil-galad wasn’t too bad.

Amazon: *doesn't care if employees are injured or even die. Doesn't bother to report a stunt person's injury to New Zealand. Horrible conditions on set. Overworks employees. Harfoots sterotyped as Irish people. Jeff Bezos hoarding money to himself*
Amazon bootlickers: "You guys are so misogynist for calling Galadriel a Mary Sue just because she fights with a sword! And you guys are do racist just because there is diversity in RoP!!!*
Me: "...You guys just missed the fucking point, didn't you???"
Art is dead. Long live stealing a genius' work.
