Fallen London's recurring topic of Love is really interesting to me as a sort of throughline between various stories and i want to ramble about discuss that briefly. i dont call it a theme because thematic statements are usually more complex than a single word, at least in my mind, but a lot of Fallen London's storylines incorporate love into their themes.

there's the obvious things ofc; the Manager and the King, the Duchess and the Canigaster, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, the Bazaar's whole situation. Love is a common motivator that many people can relate to, so it's no surprise that it appears in this capacity. Even so, these instances also underpin a lot of the setting's character, particularly the latter two examples, explaining why the neath is the way it is. but if we broaden our horizons just a bit, you can start to see it appearing all over the place (though maybe thats just confirmation bias lol).

the youthful naturalist loves discovery and life, and evolution in that context is a story about what one is willing to endure and sacrifice for that love. Love is a constant theme in the Light Fingers storyline, between moon milk and poor Edward, but also shows in Mr Fires's love for London (strange and deleterious though it may be) and the protagonist's love for either the Hybrid they protected or the diamond they'd been after. I don't know as much about the other ambitions (yet), but Nemesis is all about avenging a loved one by any means necessary, and you could see Bag a Legend as a love for the hunt or a love of fame, though even i’ll admit thats a bit of a stretch. Idk about Heart's Desire i’m still working on it but there's probably something. Its literally about what your heart desires but there’s absolutely a deeper connection with the Marvellous and stuff. No spoilers i'm still working on it :3

i dont know a ton about SMEN's story either, but i know from a ludonarrative perspective that it tests the players love for their character, forcing you to ruin this silly victorian who you are presumably quite attached to in the search for knowledge (perhaps another kind of love?) With what little i know of it, i’d honestly be shocked if there wasn’t anything there. if ao3 has taught me anything, there was definitely some kind of love going on between those two space bats, but im not sure if ao3 is a reputable source in this specific instance

The Flukes are literally sick with love for lost Axile, and a lot of the Masters are shown yearning to return to the High Wilderness. Many of the Irem Destinies regard love in this way, love for the sun, for the liberation, for ones partner, for london, for the people of the neath, and on and on. im not very far along with the railway but im 100% certain itll crop up again there, whether with Furnace Ancona or the Efficient Commissioner or the masters or whatever else. same goes for the Exceptional Stories and the myriad tales ive yet to unlock. Weve started to see a glimmer of it in firmament, with the imminent lucifer fire guy, but i wasnt really sure what his deal was. the idea extends to the other Sunless games from what i know, though ive yet to play those. Mask of the Rose is a romance, so thats pretty clear cut; sunless skies seems to have a lot of content relating to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert; and sunless seas seems to have it present in a few storylines, though i couldnt point to anything specific at this time. even small things, such as the way that the railway steel seems drawn to Hell and the sorrowful properties of sphinxstone, makes for a setting that is inundated with longing and heartbreak in a fascinating way.

viewed through this lens, fallen london's perspective on love is tragically earnest: love is painful and unfair and yet so very necessary. as someone who's aromantic and a hater, i call that an L. but from a thematic perspective its very interesting how often this occurs and how it connects a lot of fallen london. In so many other narratives, love is a conclusion, a reward or climax. In fact, mass media seems allergic to depicting an active and healthy relationship, and instead relegates such matters to a single ceremonious kiss. But for fallen london, a game where kisses are currency and romance is taxed, the concept of love is afforded such an interesting amount of care and reverence. Fitting for a setting wherein the insisting incidents all relate to love in some way or another

it may be comedic and at times quite absurd, but fallen london to me is a game deeply concerned with love and its influence on people. and idk i think thats interesting. if you're looking for the theme or message of a given fallen london story, look to love, always.

The darkness blankets the sky, the neighborhood quiet with muffled noises of a party some walks away. Having just parked his car in the garage he get's out taking a bag of take outs for dinner.

Walking up to the porch of his and your door, he unlocks the door with ease. Keys clanking as he fiddles with them with a tired sigh. Work is well work as usual. It's not the mundane challenges of work he's sighing for. Likely it's the increasing monotonous routine he goes with it at the office everyday. It doesn't help that his relationship with you is reflecting how gray and dull his everyday work is.

Opening the door, the living space welcomes him. Not you, you're not at home yet. You're at the office, either working overtime or being asked out by your friends for a night out. He drops his briefcase on the sofa, as he takes off his coat. Hanging it on the coat rack beside the now locked door.

Now loosening up his tie, he picks up his phone to check the time, it's nearly 10 pm. "It's Friday...then it must be her hanging out with co-workers tonight." He says to particularly no one but himself. His gaze frowning at the screen of his phone. "Or her damn boss," He grumbles.

And that's the problem. Your relationship with him either progressively turns to dull and gray because of his increasing workload, or if it's dull and gray because of your increasing workload and constant late night parties.

But Levi understands you better.

The parties were to distract you from this monotonous routine of your evenings with him. Can be a bad or good habit depending on the act you entertain yourself with. And Levi knew better than to push you to ask when you're in this phase of taking a sort of break.

Or it could also be he's afraid that he'd make things worse and drive a deeper wedge between you two. It's likely the latter.

And that's precisely why he discreetly asked two of his female coworkers for advice. Hange and Petra. Hange had advised to open a table with you for discussion. Basically sit and talk. Meanwhile Petra, advised you to go an extra mile to know what a woman wants. For starters, read a book.

A romance book for example. And she had just the perfect recommendation in hand.

Levi sets the reheated take outs, then preparing a plate of rice—his favorite, on the table. He then walks to the sofa, picking up his briefcase to find a certain book from Petra this morning.

"Huh," Levi could not even read the title, his eyes scanning the book. "Damn, sappy shit." He flips the cover to read a random chapter and sees a specific sentence that nearly killed him from cringe.

But if it would help him get tips on how to reignite this spark between you two, he'd grit his teeth through the cringe. Pick out the good ones, and yeet out the overly cringe ones.

With the book in his hand, he walks back to the dinner table, sitting down to a meal while he takes a spoonful of a bite or two.

After eating, he continued to wait for you at the living room, sitting with his arm resting on the armrest, his other hand propping up the book he's reading close to his steel blue gaze.

The hours tick and you're not home still. It's already 1 am, and you're still not at home. It was then that he finally decides to check his phone. And oh, he finds a message from you in his notifications.

Clicking it, it reads,

"I'm sorry love, I'll be home in a few. Just a 'lil late."

Sent at 11:45 pm. He sighs, texting back,

"Do you need me to fetch you?"

He sends it and returned to reading the book.

He'd hate to admit it, but it became a bit more tolerable for his eyes to read the book after a few chapters. He's mind whirrs at the kind of man most women would want.

Crossing out the unrealistic standards, there are things he might find worthy of taking note. Like getting a little more creative with giving you flowers, or how he should better care for you for when you have period cramps. Basically just be there for you more. Levi had thought he was doing just fine, doing everything to be there for you. But now basing some things he may have missed in comparison to a 'what would most women want,' is that he may have appeared a little too distant or cold. Especially when he's at work.

He sighs, deciding to find a way to strike a proper balance between work and his personal life.

You're an amazing woman, flawed may be, but you're the woman he loves to see everyday.

Sighing, he flips open the book again to continue reading, "Hoh, what do we have here?" He smirks, immersed in his reading although he'd deny that he is.

The pacing of the story just got to a sensual, lightly steamy part. And he couldn't help but think, 'Is this too what most women want?' He ponders, 'I guess not too different to what most men wants, except this has more steps in this. More foreplay it seems,'

His eyes scan the forbidden text, his mind wandering if it could be him and you. Or what could be your reaction had you be reading this instead? Levi imagined you reading this with a flustered expression made him think of other forbidden things he'd do to you.

Flipping the page, he continues, still sure he's reading to get insights on how he should treat you than for the story of the text he's reading.

Then as if he was stricken with lightning, he hears a warm breathy whisper right behind his ear, "Oh? What you reading?" Your playful tone snaps him from his deep thoughts.

"Oh, you're here," His face momentarily stiffens, lips opening slightly, before returning to his nonchalant expression. He then adds, "And you're late," His gaze now frowning. "Sorry," You scratch the back of your head, "We just finished overtime and my boss thought to bring all of us to a short late snack at a cafe." You explain, studying his narrowed blue-gray gaze, before your eyes landing on a specific book. "Didn't know you'd be reading this genre though, Levi." You reply in a teasing manner. His hands swiftly, and casually moving the book away from your view as a response, "Your boss?" One of his eyebrow arches, his expression remaining nonchalant yet the undercurrent of his threatening tone betrays the calm exterior he maintains. "That stupid blond bastard again?" He grumbles, now standing up to meet your eyes, the book still in his hand.

'Stupid, and bastard. Well that's rare,' You smile, Levi adding two insults in a single sentence for the same person speaks just how much this is pissing him off.

"Listen, we need to talk," He then takes your bag placing it on the table before holding your shoulders down to have you sit.

"Levi," You say with a flat and tired expression, "There's nothing to talk about—" Before he cuts you off, "Oh yea we do. Don't think I didn't noticed how you're avoiding me the whole month, and how I see you're spending more time with your work friends and that stupid boss of yours. Again."

Then it's your turn to cut him off, "Levi, you're not jealous are you?" "Fucking no." He says flatly, he then combs his hair back before talking again, "Look, it's just. We're both busy recently and I'm sorry I couldn't be there to listen how your day went or that I couldn't pay attention to you more. But that doesn't mean you should entertain yourself with people outside the problem of our relationship." He then mutters the last bit, "Especially not with your boss." And that's where you stop him, "What are you talking about? Are you saying I'm upset at you because you're busy?" You scoff.

"Yes?" His expression, suddenly forming a puzzled look. His face became even more puzzled after hears you laugh, "And that's why you're reading that book hm?" You tease him, "What-fuck, no." He then places the book behind him. You already know that it's a romance book, and with the few pages you saw of it earlier, it has some smut scenes.

"C'mon, let's see what's it about." You quip, your hands reaching for it, but he's faster and was able to keep it off your grasp.

"Forget it, so you're saying that you're not upset at all?" He asks you, his narrow, blue-gray irises gazing deep into yours. "No, I'm not," You reply with a smile, "Why would you think that?" He then looks down on the table, his gaze falling to your bag on the coffee table as he searches his own mind. "I don't know...maybe it's just because I miss you." He sighs, "Yeah, maybe it's that. You think it's because of that?" He replies more like a sentence of him just rambling and asking the truth he already knows.

You gave a light chuckle before pulling him to a hug. "Gosh you're so adorable," You mumble to his neck, appreciative of his efforts and his feelings. He momentarily stiffens, before accepting the embrace. "Shut it," He rejects the compliment, but you feel his heart beating warm and fast against yours, his hands wrapping around you in return. Embracing you back.

"I miss you too," You whisper to him and you just feel him nudge his face to your own neck. As if hiding his face from view by deepening the embrace.

You pull away, and you give him a light kiss on his lips, his lips lingering for a moment before reluctantly pulling away. Maybe it's because his heart was beating too fast, that you also feel it pump blood to the lower half of his body. A something else entirely beating against your warm body as he tells you in a low gruff voice. His breath hot against your lips, his arms pulling you closer in place. "More,"

i think shadowheart would like the album nostradamus (an album which i think is pretty divisive with judas priest fans, a lot of people hate it and some ppl love it. i just listened to it for the first time for this post lmfao. i was trying to find lyrics that would be good for shart and found one in this album so i listened to it for the first time, i liked it :P ). while she can't relate to the whole album of course (bc its about nostradamus lol),, there are definitely a few lyrics that shadowheart would resonate with. particularly in the songs exiled, hope and new beginnings. from the song exiled: "I'm banished in exile / To meet their demand / Rejected messiah / They don't understand / I'm searching for something / That's lost in my heart / God knows I'm a sinner / I'm falling apart / If this is my destiny / I've got to believe / The passion inside me / Has left me to bleed" and from the song hope: "I see your light on the wings of a dove / Lifting me up as the dark clouds retreat / Courage transcends and you make me complete / Hope in my heart with the advent of spring / I am reborn with the love that you bring" these lyrics make me think of when dame aylin helps shadowheart with her past and her future after leaving shar behind. and then, these lyrics from the song new beginnings: "A new beginning has arrived / At the crossroads of my life / This new love keeps me alive" now, tbh i haven't romanced shadowheart (YET) but these lyrics make me think of shadowheart after choosing between becoming a dark justiciar for shar or rejecting that and leaving shar behind (the crossroads mentioned in the lyrics) and her love for tav or an origin character helping to keep her going after the tough decisions she had to make and knowing that her love will be standing with her as she navigates that future for herself.

Leo Hawke, Dragon Age 2: kill kill kill bite devour mutilate. Gortash is everything he hates and everything she wants to be. cool, commanding, smart, feared, respected, loved, powerful. swag off the charts, i know he’d love the outfit.

How he’d manipulate him: easy. kill the only family he has left, Anders and Isabela, or keep them from her. actually yeah locking Anders up in solitary confinement, somewhere he spent an entire year before, that she regularly holds him about when he gets claustrophobic or has nightmares about. the thought of Anders in a small dark cell all alone with his thoughts would break him and he’d simply do Anything to ensure he’s not in there a moment longer than he has to be :/ that being said her first instinct would simply be to kill the man, and he’d definitely try, even if it’s a dumb idea. and honestly not to hype my own oc up too much but if anyone could, it’d be her. one woman (not really a woman) army of a reaver when a loved one is on the line. monster. could probably cleave his way through a dozen lackeys and at least 2 steel watchers solo before getting tired, and that’s only if they’re even in the way.

Slater Adaar, Dragon Age Inquisition: she’d be smart enough to know to be terrified of him. just be a useful tool while keeping as much distance as possible and keeping an eye out for the exits at all times. run at the first opportunity, no heroics.

How he’d manipulate her: i am realising i don’t actually know her all too well. autistic qunari sera romancing artificer pursedog butch lesbian who just wants a normal life away from politics and armies and magic and sainthood, damnit. that’s all i’ve really got on her. so, i guess using the promise of a normal life. tell ya what, she’d make a great deep cover secret agent. she is definitely an oc i could stand to make more interesting lmao

Vice, Skyrim: competition, quite simply. he has a thing about dragon imagery, right? subtler than the sun stuff, but it’s there? but is it about being a dragon himself, or subduing them. either way, they’d scoff at his posturing. underestimate him for sure, letting their ego and lack of respect for humans stop them from being smart. they have lawful evil no empathy aroace megalomaniac in common, so they’d definitely have an interesting time together :)

How he’d manipulate them: power. specifically the power to do their human experiments in peace. freedom from legal consequence, basically. it would be difficult to dominate or even get a good read on Vice and their desires tho, even for Gort. i mean. they don’t speak. and have pretty good control over their emotions. they’d be playing psychological 4D chess and it would be so entertaining. (remembers it doesn’t have to manipulation, it can be about breaking physically) OH YEAH. YEAH that’s the one. it would still be HARD to keep them down, draconic force of nature that they are, but i’m sure the gorster would be able to figure something out.

They had no problem using Piano Man again, so I'm going to treat songs appearing previously as no object, that being said I feel less strongly that Only the Good Die Young is essential since it was used in the show elsewhere. Anyway I'm going to come up with seven songs because Movin' Out had seven and that gives me a guide lol. This isn't a cohesive episode plot it's just songs I think would work well, I will think about a cohesive episode plot but I need more time for that.

I would do:

The Entertainer (idk who would sing this but I'm picturing Mr. Schue bringing someone in to mentor the kids about the music business and this person being cynical and singing this song)

who is alizath

this fucky landmass up north. the smidge of yellow at the bottom is galeré, the country paramour’s mess takes place in cuz SURPRISE… these share a universe pff

what is alizath?

a hot mess basically. the government is run by “courts” or factions (perhaps cults… at least one of them kinda is) and there’s a central parliament that’s supposed to be the voice of the common people. like. it barely is but we move.

anyway tho there’s the iron spring, the titanium summer, the brass autumn, and the steel winter.

we mainly focus on the brass autumn bc the “dad” of our mc kirsi, used to be the ruler of the brass autumn but then he was framed for killing a guy and was exiled.

the story? well basically kirsi is supposed to bring favor back to her family by attending socialite events so that her father can be allowed back into alizath. also so that they can stop being horribly poor (they aren’t terribly bad off cuz they’re getting help but it’s complicated).

the real plot however is found as kirsi starts getting close to people and it becomes very apparent that the iron spring wants to become a sole monarchy. power struggles, romance, death, chaos, war, and more ensue!

but some basic important to know characters:

kirsi: she’s the mc. she’s also adopted (does not know this), part of a prophecy (definitely doesn’t know this), and isn’t fully human (kirsi knows jack shit about anything basically)

jeanna sunniva: she’s kirsi’s aunt who helped raise her for the purposes her brother has. she is strict but very protective over kirsi and her life has been Rough

juven: current leader of the brass autumn in his father’s stead. he’s also one of kirsi’s love interests (end game ot3 situation). he’s too young to be shackled with this shit but yknow. he’s here now. also he wants to keep alizath out of the hands of the spring and would rather it turn more into a republic or smthn.

amarette: juven’s best friend and from the titanium summer. his mama hates him teehee. he, juven and kirsi are end game ot3. he just wants to be able to live his life how he wants.

greye: eldest daughter of the iron spring who hates her father and is uh…. plotting lmao.🧍‍♂️

lord flykrost: the leader of the steel winter and tbh the only one with a head on his fucking shoulders. he values his family more than anything and is ready to turn the steel winter into its own nation at the drop of a hat to protect his family and the citizens who live in his region. very chill dude but he used to be the head of the general alizathan army so idk don’t fuck with him

lady love: lord flykrost’s wife and she’s scarier than him. she did settle down and loves those loyal to her fiercely. she and jeanna used to be good friends but why hmmm 🤔

dude i used to love the app game helix waltz (it’s no longer a thing rip) and i wanted to make a story where i could romance my favorite character juven (i didn’t change juven’s first name but a lot about him otherwise has changed lol) sooooo this story got born out of that.

Context & Summary for Old Dballz Ocs (I Feel Like Rambling ...)

sept 2021 when I was speed running my first dbz viewing i purchased Dragon Ball Fusions for thr 3DS. I didnt know ANYTHING about ANY TH ING but i KNEW that Goten & Trunks were funny as hell and that they fused so they must be on the game .

On the character creation I threw some elements together until it felt right, I created a power-type Saiyan with golden-pearl skin and fire-kissed hair in the style of Yanucha's long beautiful locks ... with friendly red eyes becasue he was cool AF. I named him Adonis, and I spent my playthrough battling with the fact that male characters could not wear most female outfits, and I put him in the sluttiest / most fashionable fits I could (Nail's shirtless fluffy neck wrap and Gine's skirt).

His own personality came to be, and if he were real I would HATE HIM becasue I cannot STAND catty gemini bitches. But that's why I respect him. Becasue he is viscous and does not need my love. In the gameplay hes obviously a kind-hearted hero but he does that while also being a viscous catty Saiyan bitch. Hes kind in a Saiyan way. He dejects himself from Saiyan culture and aligns himself with Earth, and by Saiyan standards he is a soft little kitty cat, but by Earth standards he is a cutthroat little sphinx. I wanted Shin to fall in love with him it felt like it made a lot of sense narratively ... Shin was so insulted and mesmerized by the Saiyans' power when he learned of it, so it makes beautiful disgusting sense that this proper little gentlemen would fall in sick love with this wild and true "little red Corvette" Saiyan ....... They actually have a lot of cartoonish but intense pink-glittery romance.

Anyway I decided his Saiyan name was TYPHA, which is lifted directly from the scientific name for cattails. Cant remeber if it's all cattails or one specific species. You can eat them when they're little sprouts so they are a vegetable and it counts. And I chose Cattail obviously becasue Adonis is a slutty little catboy!

He was a real one with a steel-hard heart of gold. Gold-toned stainless steel I suppose. Spat on as if valueless but a piece that will stay with you for a long time. He existed in his own culture as a trailblazer TBH and he was okay with that. It's who he was. He didnt need your opinions....

I always said that he would get fake tits but IDK how he could becasue he has no body fat and his muscles are so lean so?? Where would they put the boobs ....

You cant ask him what his pronouns are becasue he doesnt think that that's his motherfucking problem. A lot of people think that thats a kind and appropriate question, but to him you're just proving right off the bat that you have NO backbone. It's not his motherfuciing problem what words YOU use to address him. That's YOUR words, your right, not his. If you're too lily-livered to PICK what language YOU want to use, then you should keep his name out of your goddamn mouth.

To reiterate and clarify, he is a power-type Saiyan. On that game there are three types: power, speed, and ummm I think it was called Technique (that last one is for people who use their noggins). Adonis was a team leader, the tactician; but hes not technique-class, he's power. On that game, a power-class Saiayn is a TANK becasue that combo gives you the lowest speed and highest attack. So he was my team leader, but he would always go last, and he would just finish it. On the outside he is small, and playful, and goofy, and by Saiyan standards an intellectual - but what makes him a SAIYAN WARRIOR is the way that his core is steel-hard conviction. He knows who he is. He never vacillates or falters. Hes a fruity little thing but he commands an army ... he rejects his Saiyan name becasue he wants to write himself.

ANYWAY. I had more ideas for Saiyan ocs so after Adonis/Typha came Bulrush. Bulrush is just another name for cattails. (I had another name that I never used which was Perslane, which is as I recall a salad-type green, but it has "purr" in its name so I thought that it would fit with the cattails. I almsot made Bulrush a twin sister named Perslane to use up the ideas / color coding that I didnt get to use, but she never stuck.)

Bulrush is Adonis's huge cousin. Size-wise, she is to him as Nappa was to Vegeta. Adonis was already red and I wanted her to be red too but TBH I think that she settled into a dark blue ... IT DOESNT MATTER colors dont matter on dragon ball.

On that 3DS game there is a lot of timeline tomfoolery so I didnt stress too much about the details. I said that she used to be a member of the Freeza Force, and then later I decided that actually she was an ex-member of the GINYU force. (Freeza allowed that becasue the Ginyus begged .. they were like "can we keep her?"). She wasnt even as strong as then-Vegeta, but they kept her around for her Great Ape ability, her wild sense of humour, and her minor IT training which was unusual for a Saiyan. (When Captain Ginyu was on his period he liked to watch cat videos on the SpaceTube, and when it wasnt working Bulrush was always there to punch the computer just right to make it start working again.)

They kicked her out becasue she started to fail the poses. And becasue she is just kind of difficult to work with. Shes cripplingly insecure deep inside so when she starts to feel like shes failing or being rejected, she escalates the conflict just so she can leave and justify the whole complication. So that ended.

Through some sort of time hooblah (timelines crossing like on the game, accidental cyrogenetic freezing, I DOMT CARE) she makes her way to Earth seeking out her lone remaining blood relative.

And she hates his candy ass. She poses as really threatening and malicious. When I finally watched the Raditz episodes I was appalled at how i had accidentally made a character exactly like him, looks and behavior and all. So yeah.

But Bulrush doesnt actually give a shit about most things. She adapts roles but she'll drop them if they stop paying out. At first she seemed a real threat to Adonis, and he was genuinely upset or scared, but through his pure heart and the power of teamwork he became somebody who could prove her wrong (and make her proud). And then she just sort of drifted to Capsuoe Corp becqsue where else would she go. She wanted to lounge in the sun and be close to the prince. And the technological environment nurtured her minor interest in computers, it's not a big part of her personality and actions at all but it's a part of her nonetheless.

Though with all the Saiyans dead and the Freeza Forces long since dismantled (so she thinks), she holds no loyalty to Vegeta's royal status. She prefers it to anything else, but with no one forcing her to bow, she is quick to be defiant and just eject herself from a community. In theory a lone wolf.

She wants to swing with Vegeta and Bulma but they obviously dont have her in that way. Bulma likes gal pal time and is very easy to flatter so she lets Bulrush hang. But Vegeta cannot stand this vulgar woman who is loyal to no inner values. To him, she is as bad as they come.

She plays it chill and keeps trying to hit on him and it never works. Over time she gets more desperate and eventually she just functionally has a huge crush on him that is forever unrequited. On some level she does this to herself. She is used to the pain, and has never been good at accepting genuine connection anyway.

She masterfully dissembles when Goten and Trunks show her their strength so they think that she must be really cool. But she's shitting herself over the fusion thing. The SSJ3 thing . She was completely cold before but after unlocking that Fear For Her Life, she starts insisting that they call her "Auntie Bulrush" and she poses as a supporting figure because she doesnt want them to kill her.

Anyway: over time she becomes just completely and perfectly loyal to her cousin. She only ever called him "Typha" which he took as an affront, but eventually it comes to mean less "I refuse to accept your new name and true self" and more "I am your kin I have known you the longest I am your deepest friend i know you like no other. I am the only one who can call you this." Though to be honest she just calls him "Cousin" more often than not. She's always like "Cousin...let's go bowling."

There was this bit I had where he goes in for boob surgery and when he wakes up Bulrush is all bandaged up too and he's like "...what happened to you?" and she says heartfeltly "Where do you think the tits came from cousin?"

She loves him and is loyal to him but it's also kind of in a way that reflects her buried insecurity. She'll be player two, she'll even be player three, she'll play the backseat, she'll be just one of thousands in his army. She doesn't ask to be anything special to him, she just wants to help his cause in any way. She hardcore respects his iron core and the way that he has bit back at her over the years, and that's cool, but it's also speaking to a familiar pattern of rejection to her. TBH. But IDK. She's ride or die.

IDK. Becasue if they were real they would also just pretty much just be like Spongebob and Patrick. BFFs who get up to goofy shit. Typha is just like yassified Spongebob. Spongebob if he were a baddie. Bulrush is just like Patrick Star fr. Dumb and hung.

OK well if you know these guys, Bulrush is a lot like these guys: Captain K'nuckles, Captain Linebeck, Grunkle Stan, and TBH Raditz.

I stopped talking about these guys because I realized just how many characters were in dragon ball, I really ddint need to invent any. EXAMPLE Vegeta Tit Tuesday did what Adonis did but better and more meaningful.

I Stoppe Drawing Them becasue I was getting pissed off. Firsdt of all I was still learning and relearning quirks about the dragon ball artstyle, what was a constraint and what was not. Srcond Of All thr only thing I cared about was warm skin, red accouterments, and hips/tits from hell. I wanted to draw characters who fucked hard and died pretty. My sense of beauty, fashion, and juicy life-force was at this point finding no expression in my actual day-to-day so I needed a lot from music and art. And so Typha was pretty much all that. So I didnt know what to do with Bulrush . It pissed me off so much to draw them next to each other, becasue I didnt know how to make thei skin different colors, but i wanted them to look visually distinct. I experiemted with making Bukrush a colder or darker color but it never vibed. And I got so pissed off about their outfits becasue I'm one of those people who cares a lot about colors . And I cannot help it, I NEED characters to have their own designated color(s). And i wanted red. Even the gloss and fruit of fuschia. But by personalty Typha got no pinker than red, and I can respect that. But Buklrush wasnt pink either. She was red and navy blue. WHY ? I kept trying to move away from that but I coudnt find anything else that felt like her. Maybe purple would work ??? Maybe I could figure it out nowadays. But I wanted only red but i coudlnt have them both be red because i was pissed off when they were and also when they werne't. Navby blue was/is Vegeta to me so I didnt know how to feel about that, since I was intending to draw her standing next to Vegeta too.

I mean i can respect her being both red and navy blue. It's an ODD color combo but nowadays I can accept it just fine. It's eccentric and a blessing. I just didnt want to accept it then becasue i was struggling with making directed choices VS sussing out the natural vibe.

Also Typha wore skirts and I wanted her to too but she always vibed better in just short pants instead . But I've spent two years bringing fashion into my life so im much more cool with letting things be becasue i get my kicks elsehwere so i dont need to try to have it all at once here. It feels better to just let it be <3 She Can Wear The Raditz Underweear there was never anything being lost in that

The thing is COLOR DOSE NOT MATTER ON DRAGON BALL AT AL !!!!! FIRST OF ALL it's a black and white manga., SECOND OF ALL, NO One Cares. Even in the colored animation they dont care at all. They proved that when in DBS they changed Trunks's SIGNIFICANT, UNIQUE, NOTEWORTHY, RECOGNIZABLE lavender hair to ..... Fcuking Blue .

The coolest thing about Bulrush was the inspired idea I had to make her eyes Grey. I had never had a characterwith grey eyes before, and I never saw it, so it struck me as really great.

Though i Wonder if i had just subconsiously gotten it from Mr Satn's DBS design .

This pisses me off greatly becasue her eye shape was also like his, becasue I was basing her eyes off of later-Z Yamucha (with what little I knew .. that was all I had.) . And that shape IS the shape of Mr Satans eyes .

I'm just pissed off about that becasue in theory I could bring back Bulrush to pair her with Mr Satan becasue I think that he needs to get Las Vegas marreid to a rough and wild woman . But if they have the same eys that pisses me off . I WANT VISUAL DISTINCION ...

Though honestly I would never draw Mr Satan with grey eyes. His eyes are an intense blue in DBZ, But I would proibbaly color them the same intriguing periwinkle that Videl's eyes are in DBZ (not the bright sky blue that they are in DBS). Becasue I think it's cool when parent and child have the same colors . Becasue colors matter to me . But canon colors also matter to me. And it pisses me off how pink and pale Videl is when her father is very much not. It's cool to think about genetics and anime genetics and to justify that well, he could be mixed race and just by chance passed on his palest alleles. But it still pisses me off becasue it puts me into a position . Either I could color her darker and have the benefit of mollifying both my intellectual nettles and my "I want characters to stand out more from each other color-wise" nettle, but grapple with outright denying canon and having to choose whether to keep her skin cold or make it warmer like her father, OOOORRRR i could just LEAVE IT and DEAL WITH ITand ssssSUCK it UP becasue HWTA DO I KNOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really really like her hair and all of its styles. I really like drawing her hair texture, both when its shown to be straight smooth and when it's drawn more spiky. BUT IT PISSES ME OFF THAT HER DAD IS ROCKING AN AFRO AND SHE HAS NOT EVEN A WAVE TO HER HAIR ????! COME ON .... No amount of anime whimsy can make me feel okay with all of this .... At the end of the day I DO REALLY WANT Shit To Make Sense.

Anyway. So Bulrush pisses me off becasue her colors piss me off and it pisses me off to draw her standing next to any other fucking character. But I think it'd be great for Mr Satan to have someone like that in his life. IDK.

No but actually…. Definitely POTC Dead Men’s Chest if I had to pick only one of them…. And for the other 2 movies, I’d go with The Sound of Music and…. I guess either Steel Magnolias or That Thing You Do? For some reason I always end up watching the first with my mom after I have a shitty day (it’s always on during those specific days for some reason) and the ladder I haven’t rewatched yet but I LOVED it the first time I watched it.

As for 11….. this might turn out to be an essay tbh (I’ll try to keep it short lmao)….

Romance for me is weird. Like, I think I know what I’d want and yet I’ve never even had a chance to experience it or find out. But… from what I can sort of tell, it would probably be insanely difficult for me to find someone willing to match me lol. As in, I am not affectionate whatsoever (except for with my pets), so I wouldn’t be into hugging/kissing/sex. Hugs I could get used to maybe, idk. I struggle with saying “I love you” to literally everyone I know, which would probably turn a lot of men off if I couldn’t tell them so, even if I really did lol. And I won’t even consider being romantic in public. Nope. Never.

What I’m basically saying is… I am not a romantic person. Unless being infatuated with animated fictional men and writing stories for them counts? But…. I think this is more of a real life question.

For me, what would be “romantic” is spending time together, listening without judging and them showing me that they care in ways that aren’t just kissing or whatever. And also them accepting me how I am (like I will always have a pink themed bedroom idc, and I will always choose my pets over a random guy. Silly things like that)

But still… I don’t know. Because there are days where I catch myself daydreaming, sort of wishing maybe one day I can find a nice guy to marry, maybe to even have a kid with? To be the perfect couple everyone always talks about, yknow? And yet, I seem to always change my mind when I remember the amount of trust I’d have to place in that person. There’s too many things that could go wrong, and I’m way too private of a person to have multiple relationships like that.

Okay, @laurelindorenan and @catkin-morgs were interested in my Star Wars thoughts, so here ya go. No particular order, just gonna ramble. Idk what all to discuss exactly, so this will be pretty broad-strokes.  

I am an Original Trilogy girl at heart and I do maintain that all three are actual masterpieces. All other Star Wars media, good bad or otherwise, is secondary in my book. Not an unusual opinion or anything, but maybe a little out of step with a lot of folks my age. I didn’t actually even see the prequel trilogy until the runup to The Force Awakens. 

And I just. I can’t even articulate the fondness and joy and giddy love that I have for those first three movies. For Luke, Leia, and Han. The whole supporting cast. The sound of Darth Vader’s breathing. Wookiee noises. Lightsabers and blasters and the jump to hyperspace. The sets! Hoth and the Death Star and the Millennium Falcon and Cloud City and -- and-- they’re so immersive and tangible and lived in and it always feel likes I could just step into them. The music!

I adore every single solitary thing about the romance between Leia and Han, which was probably the first love story I ever encountered that fully captivated my heart. It’s not just the bickering, it’s the fact that they change each other! They’re fire and steel together, but also Han learns to stay and to care because he loves Leia and Leia steps away from the rebellion to go after Han. He’s blind and frightened and he asks “who’s there” and she replies, “someone who loves you.” 

The themes of family tragedy and legacy and love and REDEMPTION! Han coming back to the Death Star and Lando the rebellion general and “I’ve got to save you!”/”You already have.” Luke, Luke the boy who throws aside his weapon and says “I am a Jedi like my father before me.” Who risks everything on the foolish, stupid hope that his father can be rescued from the Dark and he’s right. 

Thanks heavily to the influence of my dad, I’m an old fogey Star Wars fan who vehemently rejects the special editions. I alluded to the fact that I switched over to the despecialized edition to show my roommate the original Han/Greedo scene, subtitles be damned. I plan to do the same with the ending of Return of the Jedi. Idk, maybe that’s a little too rigid of me, but I can’t help it. I’m my father’s daughter. 

My personal ranking of the current cannon:

The good stuff, in order of preference: Jedi Empire, ANH (tentatively- my favorite OT movie is the one I've watched most recently), Clone Wars season 7, rest of Clone Wars, The Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2.

Revenge of the Sith is compelling in spite of itself, but I can't quite bring myself to call it good. I’m ehhh on Rogue One and Obi-Wan. I have a complicated relationship with The Last Jedi.

I actively dislike Solo, Attack of the Clones, The Force Awakens, Phantom Menace, and The Rise of Skywalker (UGH), in ascending order of badness.

Haven’t seen Andor, Book of Boba Fett, or any of Rebels apart from like, 4 episodes. Waiting to watch Mandalorian s3 with my Dad over Christmas.

I also read a whole bunch of the old EU books as a kid and while the quality is highly variable, I still have very fond memories of quite a lot of it. I fully maintain that the sequel trilogy should have pulled from the New Jedi Order series. I miss Jaina Solo.

The prequels are. Um. They’re less than the sum of their parts. The opening to Revenge of the Sith is straight fire and you know I love me a good doomed romance and I swear I could get high on “This is how liberty dies: with thunderous applause.” But like. Sigh. They’re not good movies, guys. I know a lot of people my age will defend these movies, but I just. No. Y’all are nuts. The older crowd is right, the prequels are, in fact, bad, but hey, at least they gave us Clone Wars. 

On the other hand, the sequel trilogy is just a blot on the series. In a vacuum, I do rather like The Last Jedi as a movie, particularly the last hour, but in the context of the original films it's terribly unfair and cruel to Luke. It had some great themes and striking visuals, though. I never much liked The Force Awakens once the initial high wore off because it was super bland and not nearly interesting enough to distract me from the fact that it broke up Han and Leia!! Like what the heck. And of course The Rise of Skywalker is utter garbage. 

I wish Disney would stop it with all the new Content(tm), or at least slow down. It's just too much.

idk what else to say. I reblog Star Wars stuff on my other blog sometimes, but ironically (because it’s the biggest franchise in the world basically), Star Wars is really personal to me. I’m always, always, always gonna connect it with my dad.

Nomads by Captain Juuter: I LOVE IT! I joke around saying that Lance is better Izuku (and I began to read the webtoon for that) but DUDE I'M EMOTIONALLY INVESTED. LIKE. SO BAD. HELP ME. The characters are awesome, the universe is so cool, the lore is simple yet SO INTRIGUING. Even the antagonists are so likeable like WHAT (they're not bad peeps dwbi). Amazing. I love it.

demoholic by noxmillion: I picked up the webtoon because bro has green hair (and grass hair is funny) and idk why, i jusr felt so good reading this. It felt nostalgic for some reason??? Idk, the silliness, the dynamics, it just felt like home?? Uuhhh yeah also at the same time I was reading another webtoon with the love interest as another not human green haired guy and I was like "bro is tryna copy demoholic 🙄🙄🙄🙄" (turns out it's not a bad webtoon I just prefer my boy Yugo) Also the panels are dynamic, the characters are funny, I'm eager to read more!!!

My Daddy is a Villain by M0N0KR0M: SO DAMN CUTE!! This webtoon, hear me out, this webtoon makes me smile all the time. IT'S SO WHOLESOME!! So funny. I just love the dad's energy so bad, I love Mona so so so so soooo much she's so precious I would die for her. My favourite side character is definitely Hisashi he's 10/10

Surviving Romance by Lee Yone : I am. So invested. In the characters. Goddammit. You think it's a romance but PLOT TWIST!! It's a zombie apocalypse and our girl Chaerin has some steel balls I swear. Rina is definitely my favourite. She's 🔥💯💯💯

Omniscient Reader : Guys. Who doesn't know Omniscient Reader I LIVE for Dokja's tomfoolery . I know it's looonnggg asf but man I just love this dude. He's a silly. Also I used to hate Junghyeok but now he's like. Ritsu from MP100. I like him he's my little piece of shit 😚 their dynamic is so fucking funny

Hyper Ultra Giga Magical Quest by Lolo: I know, it's in French, I'm sorry, but LISTEN THIS WEBTOON WAS ONE OF MY FIRST. It's so cool. The silliness is overflowing. the artstyle is so pretty. So magical. So gay. So 💥💥💥

It just brings back the cartoon energy from my childhood. Idk why. It felt like uhhh Wakfu??? Copycut??? Kaeloo?? Idk I might be on crack. I JUST LOVE IT.

Magical Mom by Prinnstar: Man I wished Pailin was my mom 😭 it's very wholesome! The art is stunning!! It updates very rarely sadly, but the few episodes we get are YUMMY!!! Get this now!! Cool action scenes!! Magical people!! Silly talking cat!! I like talking cats.

Since you discussed Florence before, how about Dottie?

1: Sexuality headcanon = I know she had a husband/briefly flirted with Putty... buuut since she didn't seem too invested in said marriage (+only flirted with Putty to get back at Florence), I'm not sure if she's really that into guys (or, just romance as a whole)? 🤔 Idk... for now I'll say she's prob somewhere on the Ace scale rn.

2: Otp = No one really tbh... I feel like after awhile she's move on from wanting to get another husband/just enjoy living her best single life 👍

3: Brotp = Since her and Florence aren't exactly "friends" anymore, I can see Bloberta and Dottie getting along well to kinda balance out eachother's sassiness over coffee/sunday brunches lol.

4: Notp = Dottie x Putty... mainly 'cause I mean, that was already a dead-end since the Revs only liked her for her looks 🤷‍♀️

5: First headcanon that pops into my head = She used to be pushed into beauty pageants at a young age, from right when she just left diapers to graduating from highschool. In such a competitive, emotionally-draining environment... Dottie had to learn to "steel" herself to not be taken advantage of (which sadly, would come back to bite her in adulthood :c).

6: Favorite line from this character = "Hu-mil-ee-ate-teh-eh-eh-eh-d-UHH"... bruh, how can you not love that line? lmao

7: One way in which I relate to this character = Definitely a fan of the color pink, I must say :p

8: Thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character = ...Weeeell, I mean her whole treatment of Florence in "Sundays" kinda speaks for itself tbh >>

9: Cinnamon roll or problematic fave? = While she may be a bitch... I can't say I'd really consider her that problematic compared to other Moralton residents (esp since she has shown to feel remorse deep down, upon realizing what she's done :( ). So, def still a problematic fave... but maybe not too late to change with enough good writing?
