sorry to be a bother but you're the only one on my dash who I know speaks korea and would humor my question. is '추한 노파' the correct term if I were describing being a 'hag stan ' when speaking to a korean or does it not really encompass the "vibe", I guess for lack of a better term.

Gasp... this is making me lol so fucking hard. That (to me) is like so rude(&#(&% um.... I think you could just say '저는 아줌마 (아이둘)들이 팬이에요' because 아줌마 is like obviously a normal word but when used to refer to women who aren't even that old, its just a little teasingly insulting without being rude... and I think when trying to 'translate' jokes, simple is best because the humor often doesn't translate like obviously with the culture of respect around seniors in Korea it's a little.... mm, probably a bad idea to speak like that about older women (like in your example you're literally calling them like idk, an ugly old coot which i think is just a little~ too far). Like its a lot easier to pick up on someones sentiment (liking older women) when you're straightforward, its always better to be politer and then get more comfortable about saying strange things rather than just sound like a freak from the getgo in my humble opinion.

While Ranboo respected Techno for at least wanting to bring him back, he also couldn’t quite forgive him for releasing Dream. 

Tommy sighed and said, “I knew Techno wouldn’t come, and it’s fine if you don’t want him to Tubbs, but I don’t know. A part of me wishes he would.”

“I know, Tommy,” Tubbo said, “but even if we had invited him, I really doubt he would’ve shown up. Big celebrations like that aren’t really his thing.”

“Yeah…” Tommy trailed off. 

Tommy’s relationship to Techno was always complicated, but after Dream died, it felt as though there was an odd shift. The Syndicate had fully disbanded, both Niki and Ranboo had left. Tommy knew that aside from Phil, Techno was now fully alone again, except this time he didn’t go after Niki or Ranboo. He didn’t go after anyone. Tommy had the feeling that Techno fully succumbed to the feeling of loss, of loneliness. That he had finally accepted that the people who did leave him left because of him, because of his thirst for revenge, his ideals, which came at the expense of several other people, Tommy included.

Oh, look, someone had the same thoughts I did about older Trek. Emergency force-field bulkheads when there's a hull breach. Though they still haven't figured out how to stop the bridge from exploding when the ship takes damage. lol

Seeing the forcefields in action is kinda cool. It was the first thing I thought about when they showed such a big, empty bridge- so much surface area to be punctured by any kind of collision or assault. Well, that and that they must have to speak up when they're on the bridge or they won't be heard.

Looks like they've learned a few things- teleporting with weapons drawn and pointed, looking for the threat on arrival. Still haven't learned not to take their top two officers on dangerous combat missions, though.

So silver vs gold is military vs science? It didn't seem to be officer/enlisted since Saru was in silver (iirc) He's in gold now though?

Look what I found! Gold for Command, silver for Science. I feel like the ranks are too difficult to see at a glance, but maybe that's not as big a deal for a non-military application. Though they definitely have the militaristic rank structure and hierarchy so idk. Also I note no enlisted ranks.

Robin Hood at the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre today! And of course it bucketed down solidly for an hour leading up to it. They delayed the start for about 20 mins, and finally the rain petered out, and our (compostable!) ponchos were not needed for the show itself - but the sunscreen was.

If you are in/near London and have the chance to go see it, I highly recommend it. It's on until 22nd July, so there's only a short run. If you do, go prepared for British weather.

Spoilerific review behind cut, in case anyone does go see it.

A good reinvention of the Robin Hood legend, with emphasis on making the story less male and white (in the end, the real Robin was young, black, and female), lots of derring-do and traditional elements (the arrow contest!) mixed with some unsubtle but enjoyable modern politics (the king ends by disenfranchising the wicked Barons, declaring all land to be common land, and abdicating, lol).

About half the cast were POC, and idk whether I'd say this was well-done or under-utilised? It's not really my shout, but it was interesting to note that the story itself did not explicitly point it out, but the heroic, good, and victimised characters were mostly POC, while the villains were mostly white and male.

Also, about half of the characters were female, including Little Joan (former court jester, with a slight look of Harley Quinn), and Mary Tuck (an ex-nun, with a penchant for Earth Mother spiritualism and mushroom tea). Marion was the lead - very similar to the other stage production of Robin Hood that I've seen (The Heart of Robin Hood at the RSC in oh god 2012?!). In that version, she was the true hero of Sherwood; in this (the next step on the ladder?), she was the one firing all the arrows, yes, but she also had a bad case of (Wealthy) White Saviour-ism, which ultimately held her back.

There was a fine selection of villains, too: the Sheriff was enjoyably rakish and selfishly ambitious, Gisburne was gorgeously terrifying and unhinged, and the wicked Council of Barons (all three of them) first appeared in a selection of boy band poses, to much hilarity.

And of course, being the old-skool Robin Hood fan that I am, I could not help loving the old Robin Hood references. First came the Errol Flynn-style Robin, in his hat, tunic, and green tights, a little untidy and possibly drunk, impatiently shooed offstage by the other characters. Then the hyper-masculine Russell Crowe/BBC 2006 type, called out for his accent ("Where are you even FROM?" "I come from the North of England! But I spent some formative years in Ireland...and my mother was French-Canadian..." I LOL'D). And then, oh my heart, the first bars of the Clannad theme rolled out, and the Michael Praed 80s Robin showed up, all athleticism and lucious locks - and there was such a delicious reaction from about 2/3rds of the audience (from which you could tell that this was a formative experience for a generation, many of whom are now parents. Behind me, a small kid asked in bewilderment, "Who's that?"). All three were barred from taking the hero role for being outdated caricatures - but also fondly given a place as forest spirits, part of the realm of the dead and the fictional, giving a cheery, sympathetic greeting to anyone who died.

There was some rather woolly but well-intentioned neo-pagan-esque woodland spirituality, which ultimately won the day and defeated the bad guys. I'm not sure they quite stuck the landing there, but I appreciated the aim all the same.

I loved it, and it was a great play to see outdoors, despite the weather. I'd love to go back and see it at night, I'm sure it's much more atmospheric, which would probably help sell me on the woo-woo parts - but sadly that's not going to be possible in the short time it's on. Still, overall, a great time was had.

Normally I keep to basic tags or empty reblogs for this fandom, but I'm gonna open my mouth for this one. Sorry if you don't want this in an ask but I felt it was more appropriate to send it here than as a comment on your post.

I didn't even know what vore was until today (how tf did I dodge that coming from the spn fandom lmao). One more thing to filter out I guess. Anyways. I assume it's implied that the anon was asking about vore as a sexual kink, otherwise they'd have used other terminology. In this fandom, yes it apparently incriminates people that age up characters. That is a no-no here since the characters are canonically under 18. There's also an assumption in this fandom that minors are not the one creating and/or consuming this content.

"I'm confused, do teenage boys not get hardons?" Apparently in this fandom, no. They don't. Or they do but you can't acknowledge it. (Also, just want you to know that when I read this I legit lol'd. The problem at that age is usu preventing boners. Getting one is easy.)

For some reason, this fandom has deemed violence is more morally/ethically appropriate than even a hint of sexuality. They view that sexualizing characters under 18 in any way, including even kissing (idk if you were here for that), is unacceptable. That being said, that difference in moral/ethical correctness might be marginal. There's still some backlash against violence and dark themes.

It doesn't make sense to me since the show literally has scenes with sex and sex jokes with teenage characters as well as physical and sexual violence against children. Yet. If someone points out or analyzes these things, they will be bullied sometimes to the point of leaving (idk if you were here for hosegate or when people were being called out for analyzing the rape metaphors in s1 and s2). The environment here is such that it is impossible to have a good faith discussion about these topics... And if you can't discuss it bc it's so taboo then exploring these things in writing or art, even if it's just implied, is also taboo. And these are just for the topics already in the show.

Yes like you said it's purity culture. It is funny to me that in this case, cannibalism is OK but vore isn't. And it's also funny to me that a love scene would be less acceptable than cannibalism since sex is not OK (graphic or implied) but violence is OK (graphic or implied). And if fiction tastes reflect people irl (not my belief, but has been a repeated topic of fandom discourse) then the fandom is more OK with cannibalism irl than making love. It's wild.

And pretty much sums up the entire point I've been trying to make since I've been in this fandom. I will never, ever, understand, the very American pov I might add, that approves of violence, lets their children watch violent films and play M rated violent video games, but then won't let those same kids go see the PG 13 or R rated movie because tHe ChAraCteRs HaVe sEx for fifteen seconds. And if it's a movie about a person experiencing sexual violence? Forget about it. That's the only kind of violence they won't let their kids see.

I've seen it time and time again with people in my life, my parents themselves to an extent, and definitely extended family were like that when I was younger.

Thoughts on how often Tae has been mentioning JK recently? He mentions Jhope too and some others sometimes but for the past year it feels like everytime he's live/interviewed he has to mentioned that he did x with JK. People mention that jimin used to do the same but i don't believe it was ever as excessive. Also considering the lack of mentions from JK himself just seems to be a bit interesting, though the two do seem to hang out a fair bit more often than a few years ago.

Assuming my memory isn't failing me, it's been that way with TH for a long time. I always thought they had that kind of friendship where they want to show off when they do stuff together. Have you ever had a friendship like that? I think it can be a sort of idealized-self relationship. Maybe just mentioning JK gives TH a really good feeling. 👀

JK not adamantly reciprocating is nothing new though. JK isn't a game player. I think he has his own favortism (which isn't evil - we all do), and he shows off who's on his mind easily.

So I just binge watched Romantic Killer and it was hilarious. I can relate to having more interest in video games and food and your pet than romance. And I just want to say as an aro-ace person I'm so glad that it ended with it kind of up in the air whether she'll end up dating any of them and they're all good friends who have grown because of knowing each other.
