Selkie AU

Ok so on discord we went off. A lot of this is just paraphrasing or copy pasted from buddies hii guys. It’s honestly a fun concept to play with no matter how you turn it around~ I’ll start off with the version I drew these doodles for but it’s all under the cut because it got so long... There’s also always place for different flavors like if they realize the other’s a selkie immediately or over time, etc etc so this is all just food for thought. Marcille is always the instigator though lol, obsessed with him no matter the universe. As a selkie wants to learn more about this human and as a researcher is chasing after this secretive mysterious sea-guy while he very much tries to escape everyone’s attention.

Fisherman Chil & selkie Marcille

Old sad fisherman Chilchuck… He drinks out at sea even. Divorcee dad who’s got nothing waiting for him on land anymore. He’s on the sea every day to get fish to sell at the wet market or to the butcher, the sky and sea’s grey and everything’s dull and tedious. Seals are nothing special either. The only stuff he knows about selkies really could have some selkie storybooks he reads to his daughters. Meanwhile selkie Marcille… You could go a lot of different routes I feel. You know I feel like being a selkie fits with Marcille and her mom, with that interaction of "you’ll have to let others go and deal with that", like in this AU she’ll always be different and will have to leave people behind for the sea eventually here and there and whatnot…

Chilchuck and worksongs... Fisherman Chilchuck singing sea shanties while selkie Marcille sings her songs of the sea and then she hears him and gets curious and follows him back on land or something…… Tries to blend in with humans just so she’s like. What’s his deal. But them only meeting out at sea is very cute as well. Eventually she gets on his boat and they hang out. Melancholic psychological horror sea tragedy-romance would be fun idk. Maybe he starts hearing a woman sing out at sea randomly and thinks it’s the alcohol. But he’d be a goner already lmao. Like don’t get me wrong it’d take a while of actual interactions for him to actually fall in love, but also ~~he’s lonely~~ pretty blonde woman waaaa. Siren imagery hehe. "Hmmm I didn't know selkies had hypnotic voices as well" (they don't. he's down outrageous and he knows it.) Mr "in denial so bad maybe magic is the answer yep for sure". I want her to hear him singing something he used to for his daughters/wife etc and shes like 👁️👁️ who hurt this man........... (Could also work for selkie Chil) What’s his tragic backstory…..

I think marcille also deserves to go silly and catch a carp between her teeth, giving it to chilchuck batting her eyelashes like teehee... I'm such a good assistant right... He needs them undamaged if he wants to sell them but he still makes use of her gift anyway... Puts it in a stew and shares it with her... Something we made together..… Marcille being able to taste human food with actual spices and actual heat and actual cooked meat... His home is the warmest place on the surface. His hugs are more comforting than even the water’s. AGH and how long hasn’t he eaten a real homecooked meal you’d bet 😭 Marcille notices he’s underweight and is like "he’s always fishing though??? Does he just need like, a lot??" and takes it upon herself to bring him more fish to feed him. "He NEEDS to blubber up. I know it." Do you think when his wife was still there he'd come home to the smell of cooking.... but now there's nothing......... He’s on his own, he sleeps in the boat… It just smell like fish all day. The stench gets to him and even the burn of alcohol in his nostrils is a kinder hell. NOW he comes back to the stench of roting flesh and he's like :))) ahh.... my gi rl firned 💖 /j

Selkie Marcille getting onto his boat out of nowhere and slapping the beer bottle out of his hand. It’d go hard if he’s so drunk once that he’s leaning over the railing with his bottle hanging down from his grip and the beer goes into the sea and she tastes it and is like. Now what the fuck is this. Ew. He doesn’t look so good maybe I should splash him with water. She could save him from drowning... Girl who puts him on a rock somewhere until he wakes up and hides in the water as soon as he comes to… Peekinh at him from the surface of the water because, oh dear we're shy now because it's face to face… Drawing parallels between swaying (drunk) and swaying (motion of boat on the sea). She sways his world…… Makes him feel dizzy in a nice, light airy way…… He crashes into his bed in his home and still feels the rocking of the waves under him, and he falls asleep thinking of her…

Go out to the sea in a storm because you can’t stand feeling useless. The sea is your livelihood, it's where you're good and useful. On land you never know what to do with your hands. Maybe he should just let the sea pull him under. let it sweep him away.  Marcille does exactly that, but it's not something that erases him. It's not something that swallows him whole. It's something that shows him a whole other world- The coral reefs, the schools of fish that exist below, the lush seaweed forests that Marcille treasures so much. It's all been there for him to see, theres so much beneath his feet. And all he had to do was let her take his hand. This world full of fish and creatures he's caught and gutted... that he gets to see in a different light…… The idea of him trusting her enough to let her lead him underwater... I think the time that Marcille leads him into the water should be on one beautiful evening, with the water shimmering, and the sun casting rays onto the waters surface- enough that it's still scary at first, enough that Chilchuck still struggles against the salty grasp of the waves, but when marcille takes him under he can see just how the light of the sun casts its spotlight on the seafloor- and how even in the shallows therein lies a thousand wonders, ones he's stepped right over before. I'm just obsessed with chilchuck experiencing a whole nother world in there. Give me childlike wonder. Give me a Marcille who wants to show her grump fucking fisherman boyfriend the cute fishies and the minnows, the pretty hermit crabs. Something about the sea looking different from beneath the waves... The parallels of him on the beach stepping over shells and urchins in the shallows with his boots and just crush them right over, not even noticing he did from force of habit and routine having dulled everything… Him working on the sea all the time but never really seeing it because he’s so absorbed in his own shit and he always just uses the harbor so there’s never real contact with it anyways. When the sea water laps at his forearms when he reels the net in but they feel like lashes of frost against his skin. She'd look really pretty with her hair flowy in the waves............ Marcille’s hair should get used for creepy compositions more… In the water she takes him under and her hair tangles and latch onto him against his skin. Her hair is long, underwater it could engulf him probably, he likes blonde hair he'd be happy with that… Not the lowkey suicidal ideation of letting the sea take him and how he’d be happy suffocating in her hair when doing a dive wow ok

I keep thinking about the Dredge AU… The video game yes yes. It’d be a mess but ohhh ohh the sea and its wonderful world but also its dark secrets, Marcille researching the depths and finding dark powers and idk the tragedy of a man at sea who can’t forget what he’s lost and the mythical gf he made that was never meant to be and it’ll destroy them both idk idk. Bc of Marcille helping him fish from below as a selkie, Senshi like YOU ARE OVERFISHING YOU ARE DESTROYING THE ECOSYSTEMMM @ them lmao You are feeding the whole town and making big bucks but you’re fishing so much that some fish are starting to get stale without being bought, the sea is bleeding and the leviathan is hungry

Maybe one time, one of them gets upset at the other and holds the seal fur hostage, its sooo mean but it also feels very them. When I think selkie I think of the movie Song of the Sea and in that movie the father of the protags loved a selkie, the mother, but she had to leave at one point for the sea because that’s her nature etc etc, but he didn’t want her to leave so he hid her skin which like. Ruined everything and hurt her. And ohhh the parallels… Leaving him… Just food for thought.

Selkie Chil & marine researcher Marcille

The reverse of that where Chil’s the selkie, Marcille’s fascination for him has the reverse angle, almost like admiration too. Crying she’d be like "who’s this mysterious guy, why’s he look kinda ethereal(selkie fairy blablabla)?" and investigates meanwhile he doesn’t want anyone to see him transforming and such so he’s like "leave me aloneeeeeee!!" Selkie chil? secretive man who just wants to chill gets grabbed by the most enthusiastic fairytale-obsessed girl out there. She WILL almost drown trying to say hi. C’mon mister mythical let’s have a storybook romance <3 Jumping in da water and he has to rescue her and immediately gains 100 grey hairs. She gets her storybook ‘saved by the merman’ moment but at what cost. "WHAT ARE YOU DOINGGG" screaming, she gets scolded very much but it all goes in one ear out the other tbh. Selkie Chilchuck is even better with his secretiveness... How do you get around the fact you’re a seal? Iunno I’ve never been a seal Obsessed with the implications of his family in this. Except if his wife and daughters were humans and so his work travels are instead selkie shenanigans going out at sea for months on ends, I imagine they’d be selkies too… Did they get separated? Die? Is Chilchuck’s cowl in this one Flertom’s fur? :(   Once more mentioning sea shanties Chilchuck btw, Roll the Old Chariot comes to mind… Ooough Song of the Sea from the movie that he sung to his daughters <33 I’m fine

With the researcher angle actually being pushed there are interesting plots and scenes you could think of obvi, but uh we kind of went off on the fisherman Chil Marcille selkie AU instead haha. It’d be cute if she ends up teaching him how to live on land in the end. Dresses him up like a funky lil guy. I went with tallman Chil when drawing it and selkie Marcille’s more elf-like, and for selkie Chil I’d imagine it’s the reverse where she’s tallman-like and he still looks like a halfling… Sea-related AUs are my weak spot <33

Hiii!! I’m very new to the Greek Pantheon and honestly religion in general and am doing my best to learn! I’m trying to research and worship both Dionysus and Apollo but don’t know exactly where to start. Is it possible you could give me a few tips on good places to begin research, begin worship, etc?

I’m likely going to gather and essentially get a hold of recourses and an idea of what exactly to do before I really start doing anything in full, and by then I’ll probably pick either Dionysus or Apollo to start with since idk how I’d do both at once lol

Also if it’s not too much to ask, which it’s totally fine if it is, are there any specific “no”s that I should make sure not to do? I understand that I’m bound to make mistakes and stuff and that it’s fine, but it always helps to know things I should lean towards and things I should lean away from yknow?

Oki, first, I'll cover how to start worshipping. It's very easy, all you have to do is... start! -As in you don't have to do anything to be able to be a follower of the gods, just beleive and boom ur set to start. There was misinformation spreading back in 2020 about having to ask the gods for permission to worship, but that isn't true at all, I bring that up cause I made that mistake when i first started (⸝⸝⸝O﹏ O⸝⸝⸝).

Here's some things to know about worship:

-Altars aren't necessary!

-Prayer and offerings are important, but it's completely okay if you can't pray or give an offering all the time!

-Worship is a very personal thing, so go at your own pace, and don't feel guilty if you have periods where you can't practice do to external or internal forces!

Oki, onto researching. Some beginner friendly websites are Hellenism 101, The Theoi, Hellenicfaith, and Baring in the Aegis. Reading books are very good too! If you don't want to read an entire book though, I encourage tp look at the table of contents for information you really want and take notes. (I was gonna link you the link to that one post abt free books but i saw you already reblogged it so heck yeah 💪.)

Social media can be very good for learning at times but also really bad due to misinformation. R/Hellenism on reddit and Tumblr is really good, but make sure you continue doing independent research to verify things things others teach about the practice. Also fuck tiktok, 9/10 times its bull.

I encourage you to start with learning about the core values of helpol, cleansing, and how the ancient greeks worshipped in their normal day to day lives!

Now to the do nots!

- don't insult them pls 😭 don't call them slurs for fun or call them things like "daddy/mommy" in a weird way. That's the most common examples of disrespect I've seen.

- don't rush

- don't give human blood offerings. (Idk how old u are but if you like hunting, It's completely fine to give animal blood or any sort of animal offering if the animal is ETHICALLY killed -as in basically not tortured or killed when it's not the animal's season to be hunted. Just wanted to point that out cause some people mix it up and think it's bad to give ALL blood offerings).

- don't rely on candle flames for communication. If you want to communicate with a god, you'll have to learn divination which is its own entire thing to learn about. This is another common mistake I've seen ppl do.

Alright so idk how much you care about the unrelated-to-kai lore but unfortunately I am a yapper so I will be yapping about it. You can just like skim over it if u don’t care lol

Speaking of Kai’s dad, I haven’t thought about him half as much as his mom. Let’s see here. He grew up in a relatively standard family, however they were pretty poor. He was an unplanned pregnancy. His parents were absent a lot due to having to work, which meant he kinda developed on his own outside of school. Kai’s dad (yeah I haven’t named him, forgive me) ended up beginning to act out in his teenage years at school. He started getting in with bad crowds and became a severe bully. His parents didn’t catch much wind of this, but when they did, they tried to talk with him about it, offer their help and support, and he kinda put on an act to convince them he regretted his actions and wanted to get better.

He didn’t. He just started being sneakier about his ill behavior.

This manifested into his adulthood. He left home at the age of nineteen, and got a job that he was actually quite skilled at, which meant he rose the ranks fairly quickly. What did he do with this? Intimidate lower employees, harass and threaten his coworkers, and blackmail people into doing what he wanted. Being poor as well as forced to be independent when he was younger had planted a severe money-insecurity mindset in him, and he had gotten a hoarding problem.

He met Kaya (Kai’s mom) when he was thirty-two and she was fifteen, through her parents. Kaya’s parents were administrative officers in a company that Kai’s dad, who I will now be naming… uh… Tsuyoshi’s company wanted to get in good with. He ended up hitting it off with them and soon he became a family friend. It wasn’t long before he gained an interest in Kaya, and started subtly worming his way into her life.

She needed a ride to school? Yeah, he’s available. She needed help with studying? He has time. She wanted to go to the store? He’ll take her. Whenever he would come over, he made a point to interact with Kaya whenever he could—make himself someone she felt she could trust and rely on. Someone she felt comfortable with and liked. Tsuyoshi, after a lifetime of exploiting others, knew how to be discreet about his treatment of her. Still, Kaya’s parents realized his behavior.

And they… did nothing. They liked Tsuyoshi. They liked the power and money that being friends with him brought. Enough that they completely disregarded their daughter’s safety, health, and well-being.

Alright, *cracks knuckles*, time for Kaya’s lore.

Kaya, unlike Tsuyoshi, came from a pretty well-off family. They were similarly absent due to work, although it was much more willful than Tsuyoshi’s parents.

She was an academic. High grades, high attendance, sparkly record. She had a strong dedication to her education, as it was the only escape she really had from her parents’ suffocating grasps. Researching the subjects and turning in the assignments offered her a routine and something to do. So, she simply threw herself into her work. Excelled at her extracurriculars, took AP classes, studied relentlessly. She rarely socialized, feeling ostracized every time she tried. Her classmates would tease her for her smarts and general monotony, calling her a “robot” or “machine”. They also made fun of her broader frame and tall height.

Her parents also drilled it into Kaya that her every action and inaction reflected on the entire family. The pressure wasn’t just around her schoolwork—she made sure her hair was long and healthy and neatly styled everyday. She took tedious care of her skin and diet. She washed and ironed all her clothes. Yet, no matter what she did, how outstanding her grades and how perfect her appearance and how clean her reputation and how well-done her chores, her parents never seemed to deem it enough. Praise wasn’t a thing. They’d reprimand her every time she somehow failed in their eyes, but never offer anything positive. Not a single word of affirmation. Only slaps to the face and a cane to her forearms when she didn’t claw quite high enough to her parents’ standards.

She was basically a trophy to sit on their shelf. If she tried to be anything else, they would crack her and then force her to cover it up.

Kaya put on a front that the isolation and attention deprivation (and mental and physical abuse) didn’t affect her, that the general numbness and dread she pushed through everyday with was just routine, but then her parents met with someone. She was more than used to their outside-the-business business meetings. She cleaned in preparation, every last piece of furniture shining by the time the guest arrived, and went off to the kitchen to prepare refreshments.

When she was done, she walked into the living room with the tray of tea and fresh, sliced fruit, and she saw him. Appearance alone, he was beyond objectively attractive, not to mention his seemingly effortless confidence and charisma as he talked. Then, as she set the tray down on the table, his eyes landed on her. She looked up. He had a gleaming, pure-white smile that nearly blinded her. He stared at her a while, then made eye contact with her parents.

In that moment, she felt something tighten around each of her limbs and deep inside her chest.

He wriggled his way into her life. Gradually, she began to trust him, open up to him. He became her one and only friend and confidant. She felt like she was allowed to have a personality around him, to have flaws. She was able to talk to him about how she liked marine biology, and music, and agriculture, and the language of flowers. He never scolded her or made fun of her. She felt free with him.

Tsuyoshi asked Kaya out soon after her eighteenth birthday. She tentatively, but excitedly, agreed.

Their relationship was a whirlwind. Kaya fell deeply in love and Tsuyoshi became even more disturbingly obsessed. They got married six months into their relationship. Slowly but surely, Tsuyoshi began letting his true colors show more and more to Kaya. It started off as small, teasing comments, and brushing her off in mild, seemingly meaningless ways. Then it escalated to making jabs at her appearance and interests. Then getting angry with her whenever she didn’t do something he asked, giving her the silent treatment or outright snapping at her.

She was back to having to tiptoe and dance to stay on Tsuyoshi’s good side. Having to push herself to meet impossible standards. Going to sleep exhausted and waking up even more drained. But there were moments. Moments where he was nice to her again—flashes where he’d smile gently at her and tenderly pull her in by her waist for a slow-dance to her favorite classical song. When he’d surprise her with a bouquet of her favorite flowers. When he’d kiss her and whisper in her ear that she was the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen. When he’d take her by the hand and lead her outside to watch the stars together.

So, surely, he wasn’t all that bad, right? He was a good man, he just was having a rough patch. But it’s okay. They’ll get through it.

After some more time, his behavior worsened. He began screaming at her, throwing things, hitting the walls. And then that eventually devolved into him hitting her.

When his fist collided with her stomach, the first time of what would become many, she retreated back to her old self. Her mind assessed her situation in an instant, and she immediately reverted back to the mindset of being the perfect, glimmering trophy on the shelf with the self-healing gold.

The numbness and dread returned with a vengeance, heightened by ten. It wasn’t long before she made a habit out of dissociating, of giving into whatever requests Tsuyoshi had, of letting herself become emotionless and wantless again. She did whatever he wanted, and accepted whatever punishments and anger he dished out.

She didn’t object when he suddenly wanted a child after years of saying he’d never have one. He had gotten a bright idea, inspired by the whole “Pro Hero” ideology that was tightening its chokehold on society even more with the rise of All Might’s notoriety—her quirk (restoration of non-organic material) combined with his (deconstruction of non-organic material) would make a child with an excellent quirk, who they could mold into becoming a hero!

She became pregnant at nineteen. She gave birth at twenty.

The pregnancy was brutal. The birth was hell. She ended up falling asleep for a while afterward. When she awoke, she was informed that Tsuyoshi had named their son while she was unconscious.

Kai. Tsuyoshi had named him Kai.

The pit that sprouted in her stomach got infinitely heavier when she saw him—their newborn son.

When she had gotten pregnant, Tsuyoshi wanted a boy. He told Kaya point-blank that if they found out she was having a girl, they were going to give her up and try again. Tsuyoshi was beyond pleased when the doctors confirmed the baby to be male. He made so many remarks about having a “mini him” running around. About how his son was definitely going to look exactly like him, act exactly like him, be exactly like him. He was going to have straight black hair, black eyes, and moonlight skin.

The child Kaya cradled in her arms had wavy oak hair, golden eyes, and warm brown skin. He was perfectly identical to her.

Kai. Tsuyoshi had named him Kai.

Kaya knew what that meant.

They told her it wasn’t only extremely dangerous for her to have another child, it was highly unlikely. She became effectively infertile from this pregnancy and labor. When they wheeled her out of her room and to Tsuyoshi in the hall, his face was blank. His eyes were the steeliest they’d been in months. When they got home, Kaya exhausted and in pain to the point she could hardly move, Tsuyoshi had allowed her to put Kai in his crib before he slammed her to the floor.

Any other person would’ve been bedridden for at least a couple months after the horrific birth combined with Tsuyoshi’s abuse. She was allowed two weeks before Tsuyoshi forced her to be on her feet and working again.

Kai was an easy baby. He didn’t cry as often as most babies did, he often slept through the nights, he wasn’t overly fussy. Taking care of him still withered away at Kaya—just another problem on top of an already-towering pile.

Kai spoke his first words at six months. He learned to walk at eleven months. His mild-mannered personality somehow simultaneously stretched into and vanished as he started his toddler years.

Even though he was quick to learning how to speak, he didn’t often, more content to simply observe the world around him. He would often sit on their front porch and just… watch nature sway, when Tsuyoshi wasn’t prepping him to become a famous Pro who’d make them rich.

Kai didn’t have many toys—sorting blocks, a couple cars, a crow plushie—but his favorite was a music box that’d flower open and spin a mini ballerina wearing black and silver that the nice lady across the street had given him.

Tsuyoshi had vehemently disapproved of the thing, calling it annoying and girly. Kaya had smashed it to pieces right in front of Kai’s eyes.

He was two when Tsuyoshi hit him for the first time, after he’d messed up a form Tsuyoshi was trying to teach him for the third time. He was confused and began to endlessly wail. He was two when Kaya hit him for the first time.

The truth is, the older Kai got, the more Kaya resented him. The older Kai got, the more he got hit. The more Tsuyoshi screamed at him and starved him. The colder Kaya became towards him.

Her exterior remained a shell with no emotions. She always firmly redirected Kai anytime he showed any interest in anything that wasn’t becoming a hero. Watched whenever Tsuyoshi got particularly frustrated and grabbed Kai, lifting him into the air. Some nights, after Tsuyoshi had beat her, she’d go to Kai’s room and beat him without a single feeling in her body.

Every time Kai would go out and talk with the heteromorph woman across the street, and pick flowers for her, he’d get punished when he got home. Every single time.

Yet, he still did it. He continued to completely voluntarily, happily pick flowers for her, even though it ended in his agony. No matter how many times he got hit, or reprimanded, or starved, or locked in his room.

Yes, Kaya resented him quite so.

When Kai was at the age of four, Kaya and Tsuyoshi were both growing impatient. When was his quirk going to develop? He was going to turn five in just a few months, and he hasn’t shown any signs of it manifesting.

Tsuyoshi had ultimately decided this meant Kai was quirkless. His anger was insatiable. He broke several pieces of furniture, countless pieces of dish-ware, punched holes in the walls. He threw Kaya around and kicked her until she bled. Kai got much of the same treatment. Tsuyoshi screamed and screamed about how Kai’s worthless, how they wasted so much time and energy on him, about how all he’d been was a burden and a curse.

Tsuyoshi had grabbed Kai by the arm hard enough to nearly break it and started dragging him to the front door, all while announcing how he wasn’t going to keep a little leech like him any longer.

Kai, desperate to explain that they didn’t have to throw him away yet, that he could still be useful, reached to try and pry his father’s hand off of his arm.

Kaya watched in a heap on the floor from across the room as her husband painted the wooden floors and white walls a deep crimson.

Kai was completely covered in it. Strange, small bumps started popping up all over his skin with a startling ferocity as he just… stood there. Golden eyes wide and body stock-still.

How? Kaya thought. How could this have happened? It isn’t possible.

Her sight zeroed in on Kai. Pure, unbridled rage and grief began to swarm inside her.

She was barely aware of herself as she screamed and wailed at Kai. How could he? How could he kill her husband? His father?

She’d recklessly grabbed him and tossed him out onto the street herself, slamming the door shut and locking it behind her.

She found out the next morning that Kai didnt leave. He simply stayed huddled in the corner of the porch the entire night, despite the fact he could’ve likely gotten help from the woman across the street. Kaya didn’t let him in. Kai didn’t ask to. This went on for days—Kai rotting away outside, wordless, with his hands tucked into his sides.

Kaya eventually got a knock on her door. She opened it to find a looming man in a suit, short white hair combed tidily under a fedora. “I heard you’re looking to give your son up for adoption?” He asked. She hadn’t talked about it anywhere, hadn’t left the house or spoken to anyone since that night. All she’d been doing was stare blankly at the floor and walls.

She didn’t look the man in the eyes. She barely had the energy to even be standing there in the doorway. “Yes,” she answered.

The man grinned. “Will you allow me to take him to my dear friend’s orphanage? I promise he’ll be in expert hands.”

“Just take him,” she murmured, and shut the door.

Kai was gone the next time she checked. That woman across the street ended up asking about Kai, and Tsuyoshi. Kaya ignored her.

It wasn’t until a month later, while Kaya was cleaning up the blood stains, that she felt a single true emotion for the first time in five years. She was on her knees, scrubbing, when suddenly, a drop trickled into a void. Then another. And another. Until it was a light drizzle, then regular rain, then a storm.

Guilt. Relief. Remorse. Freedom. Shame. Hope. Regret.

She started to cry. She sobbed so hard she nearly threw up. She clutched at her stomach as her forehead hit the floor that was wet with her tears.

“I’m sorry,” she wept to an empty house. “I’m so sorry.”

AAAND I won’t go any further (for now)!! All I’ll say is that the regret, guilt, and remorse stick with her until present day. And also that she may or may not have searched relentlessly for Kai for years. Ahh, extremely complicated mother-child relationships—you’ll always have my soul.

okay i found them :D keep in mind this is specifically about which Spain's regions they would be from (because, well, i'm spanish). Also, let's ignore TF2 takes place between 1969 - 1971 because, well, fascist dictatorship, y'know? (it is an interesting concept to further explore, but i'm not feeling like thinking about this rn. i'll make another post i think) ALSO these are mostly based around vibes and how i'm feeling (because headcanons are supposed to be fun).

Offense:

Scout - I couldn't decide between making him Madrileño (from Madrid) or Barceloní (from Barcelona) (but I honestly would ADORE making him from Barcelona so i'm most probably going for that one). I also couldn't choose to make him a cani or a pijo. (I am now realising the amounts of spanish slang i'm saying, so let me explain it to everyone who isn't from spain:

pijo means... umm, kinda like, spoiled rich kid who is kinda mean or an idiot. and cani means, umm... adidas tracksuit, cigarettes, alcohol, horrible music taste, being completely reckless, really disrespectful in general. idk, i think it is because both these kinds of people feel like thery're the best, like, they are really "chulos" and kinda brag about being bad people. i don't know it is so hard to explain slang, let me know if you kinda got the vibe that i'm explaining please thank you)

Soldier - Castellano-manchego. I will just say one thing: Don Quijote de la Mancha. If you don't know who this is, go read the book please, it is the best piece of literature ever, thank you.

Pyro - Extremeño or Murciano. A lot of people joke about Murcia not existing or being like, a Thaumiel SCP, and also about Extremadura being kinda weird(?. honestly, even i do not know that much about it, so yeah, i just think it is funny to make the character we know the least about in canon from the places that i know are kinda weird and unkown (unknown to me at least). I think I'm also leaning for Murcia more because my grandpa was from there and that's cool.

Defense:

Demoman - Gallego. I wanted to make him from Euskalerria, but I think Galicia is more similar to Scotland (and because doing a bomb joke is childish and they're not funny. people have died from terrorism and it is not something from a century ago, this is extremely recent). Anyways, both Scotland and Galicia have really green land, similar weather conditions, amazing culture, and are really unique in general. Also because my grandpa was from there and that's really cool.

Heavy - Vasco. I also didn't make Demoman basque because Heavy fits SO much better. It's, it's the vibes, man. I imagine he would have some trouble speaking spanish because he would be from such an isolated village in an already (geographically) isolated part of Spain that he would be kinda monolingual, mostly speaking basque and knowing some basic spanish. He would be SO connected with his culture, I swear I might do more research and do a whole post about the traditions he would like.

Engie - Andaluz. Andalucia is located in the south and the people there have really good vibes honestly. I think he fits because he's so nice and welcoming, and because I also think him being loud and having such a distinct accent would be amazing. And also I think he would love singing and playing and dancing flamenco. (UGHHHH I LOVE ALL OF THIS HEADCANONS I THINK I MIGHT DO A WHOLE AU DEDICATED TO THIS AAAAGAGAHAHAHHHHHHH)

Spy - This bastard is still giving me a headache. He's too french 😭. But seriously, I cannot choose to make him andorrano (and I know Andorra is a separate country from Spain but, idk), català (because at least ONE of the mercs was going to be from where I am from, y'know?) or make him catalan but specifically from la Vall d'Aran (a region where, apart from speaking spanish and catalan, aranès, a variation of the Occitan language, is spoken). Making him from la Vall d'Aran would be CRAZY because that would mean he speaks Spanish, Catalan, Aranese, AND PROBABLY FRENCH TOO BECAUSE IT IS RIGHT NEXT TO FRANCE. That would make him (almost) PLURILINGUAL since birth, and i think that is wayyy too cool. Sniper - Canario. He would be from the Canary islands because, yes. I don't really have a reason honestly, maybe similar climate to Australia? Or, idk, i think it would also be cool to make him have some kind of latin american ancestry because a lot of people from the Canary islands fled Spain during the Civil War and ended up in places like Mexico and Argentina and stuff, so that would be cool. Or I could make him straight up latino, which would fit him honestly. I don't really know, both options are really cool.

Medic - Mallorquí/Menorquí. From Islas Baleares in general. This is because A LOT of germans go on vacation there, to the point this is a huge meme in Spain. So yeah, I think it would be funny to make him balear with german ancestry I guess. He can speak spanish, german but also catalan (because catalan is also spoken there), but he has a really strong accent and sometimes Spy and Scout need to really focus on what he's saying to understand what he means. Seriously, if you hear MY western accent and compare it with a eastern balearic accent/dialect you would say they're NOT the same language because of how different it all sounds.

The Mann brothers, possibly the Admin?... blablabla, all of those people - Madrileños (from Madrid). The Mann brothers convinced Zepheniah to buy some land in the middle of Aragón and you know what happened.

fantasy au. my ultimate fic. the million-word three-part epic based around the philosophical and theological concepts of eternal return and doubling as a variation on the proto-indo-european creation myth with a true ensemble cast of 40+ characters interweaving and affecting the plot in drastic ways ohhhhhhh lordy that fic was everything and more. i'm so proud of it. there's a 5% chance it'll ever get written past the 17k i've written already. sad!

i think i do description well, and narration? i get a lot of compliments on my dialogue and characterization, and the most common positive feedback i get is that i'm very good at eliciting emotions.

i've struggled a lot in the past to structure my longer stories well, plot-wise! however once i realized i didn't have to write happy endings, i think i got a lot better at this, and now i'm putting a lot of practice in it to fine-tune this skill :)

I'm just slow about writing stuff for him 😅, so I'll answer what I can!

♦ Fi's sleep schedule is somewhat consistent. He tries to get a normal 8 hours, but due to habitually staying up late he often falls short a few hours. Sometimes he'll pull an all-nighter while researching and be completely out of it the following morning.

♦ Fi's an ambivert who's formerly an introvert. He learned to be comfortable with socializing but still would rather stay home and avoid all that if he can. Around his closest friends tho, he can be a bit more extroverted simply because he's comfortable around them.

♦ The magic community I'm writing for my version of Toontown tend stay hidden and keep to themselves, so being a good liar and keeping secrets just comes with the territory. He does like to tease Mickey and Mortimer with made up magical facts and see their reactions.

♦ I think it's safe to assume you mean my version of Mortimer, so with that in mind... Fi's favorite things about Mortimer, huh? Mortimer often tries to make people laugh with lame jokes. He's a lot of fun to tease and mess with. His butt. In general Fi finds Mortimer's antics to be endearing. Mortimer also wants to overcome his past and be a better person which Fi respects him for.

About Minnie: "I think Minnie is very sweet, smart, and dependable, it's no surprise so many people like her. She also seems to really like fancy stuff. Funny, Mickey doesn't strike me as the fancy type." (he doesn't know she used to be a bit of a floozy btw)

About Daisy: "She can be a bit... annoying sometimes- b-but she's good people! I can tell she's really good for Donald, especially when it comes to calming him down."

About Clarabelle: " Yeah, she's way too nosy for her own good, but she's harmless. All wizards have secrets to keep, that's just how it is. She's nice when she's not getting in your business."

♦ As I said earlier, Fi's more outgoing around people he likes. For people he doesn't, he's more reserved, cold, and sometimes spiteful.
