Ok I've had some time to process heres my detailed thoughts (TBB spoilers)

First I want to get my biggest issue with the finale out of the way - Tech and CX-2. I have been delusional about him but not to the point that I wouldn't accept his death or other clones as CX-2, and I was staying open. But then they went and did exactly what I hoped they wouldn't: they gave us no confirmation of his identity at all and left him thumbtacked to a wall with no face reveal. Not only is this exactly what they did in Ahsoka, but I also feel like it left a huge gap in the finale storyline. They put so much emphasis on him throughout season 3, including the last episode, and we got nothing out of it. I also felt like this made Tech's death kind of meaningless?? Which I absolutely hate saying because of what he sacrificed in season 2, but why kill him when the rest of the batch gets to live happily on Pabu and grow old with Omega? Maybe the writers had a good reason and I just didn't pick up on it?

I also felt like we were gaslit into thinking it was Tech, only for the ending to imply he's been gone the whole time. Domicile? Phee? CX-2's fight with Crosshair and the waterfall? the way he got the most screen time out of a group that was so clearly meant to be an imperial reflection of the original squad? Idk guys I feel like we got cheated there.

I also wish we got some idea of what happened to Wolffe and Cody, but maybe that is an opening for another show? perhaps?

Ok now that that is out of the way I can talk about how much I absolutely loved the rest of the finale.

Emerie's character development was amazing I've been routing for her since the season 2 finale and you know those Jango Fett genes are coming in strong she will take such good care of those kids for as long as they need. I also think it would be cool to see her again in future productions, her character definitely has potential.

Echo survived!! All the parallels between him and CW season 6 Fives had me terrified that he was about to die but that arc trooper experience paid off. His reaction to Omega freeing the zillo is by far one of my favorite parts of the episode he was so proud of her and I was glad to see him work so well with Emerie. I am also fully ready to enjoy Echo and Rex leading a clone rebellion whenever they deem us deserving of it (looking at you Filoni). I know we don't have proof of anything but there are still to many unanswered questions surrounding the clones, I hope they finish those storylines.

The last Domino is still standing, they would be so proud of him (and his dad jokes).

Hemlock finally got what he deserved and oh I was so happy that Hunter was the one who did it, especially after all the batch went through because of him. And what came after that? Even better. We finally got a Crosshair and Omega hug (plus Hunter) and they all made it off Tantiss alive I mean what more could we ask for?

I have so many feelings on the ending and the epilogue and I'm not really sure how to put them into words but my first instinct when I finished the episode was to spend 40 minutes c r y i n g

they got a happy ending? they have peace and happiness on Pabu and got to see Omega grow up? Omega is going to fly with the rebellion and fight back against the empire?

and Tech will be with her the whole time???

I am unwell. This has left me emotionally unstable. Not only is that the best ending I could have hoped for given the past seasons but it is also such an amazing last look at their family. No matter how you think of them you have to admit Hunter was right, she is their kid and that will never change. That line alone will be living in my head rent free from here on out. Her last talk with Hunter was so well done and is one of the best moments in the whole show, but honestly Tech's goggles on her ship's dash is what broke me; he would be so proud of her I need at least 3-5 business days to process this.

Yes I have my issues with the unfinished storylines but wow that finale was something I don't think I will ever recover from. It may be one of the best endings we have ever seen in star wars. Like I said, I have a lot feelings and if I tried to put them all in a post it would have to be a multi-volume novel.

Oddly enough this is making me want to go back and watch the Clone Wars again, maybe Rebels too? Definitely making me nostalgic.

kinda annoying how people complain about the ending of towl just because their expectations or theories didn’t pan out how they wanted it to. and a majority of the ppl disappointed really were hoping michonne dies / sacrifices herself for rick’s survival or both of them die which makes zero sense anyway and would’ve made everything pointless. also because gimple made one comment saying he wants all the spin-offs to come together in some way people really latched onto that for dear life and thought that towl would be some starting point for that to happen even though it was wrapped for filming by then and was literally premiering. mind you it was always marketed as just being 6 episodes so i don’t know why people thought it would somehow lead to a grand fight with all the other characters. especially since daryl would’ve still been in france timeline wise so it’s not like that reunion would’ve happened either which is another big complaint i saw a lot.

and lets say rick and michonne didn’t blow up the frontliners or kill beale: portland would’ve fallen, kids kidnapped, millions dead and then what? they’re just supposed to let that happen? say it’s not their problem and try to go home anyways and pray the CRM doesn’t find their community? have rick go back to the civic republic and be stuck for even longer while michonne was supposed to go home and gather up whoever is left and march back to philadelphia with just guns and arrows i guess??? along with the commonwealth storm trooper wannabes? try and wage some kind of attack which would’ve been futile since the frontliners would’ve wiped them out even quicker than what happened in the finale resulting in no reunions for anybody and more dead characters?

they planned a six episode story and obviously weren’t going to leave it on some kind of cliff hanger or have some mysterious after credit set up scene because they weren’t thinking of a season two at the time of writing, it ended with a family reunion like it was always going to. but even if there is something else in the future there could still be more story to tell and the civic republic can still be involved. people act like they killed off the whole military in one quick go when it was just the guys in the red uniforms who take out entire cities that died (i think around 2000+ soldiers). its still a big military operation it can span different locations, they talked about there being CRM agents in different communities that could be explored more. having different generals or sergeants with different ideologies can still be a thing. there’s also that estimate about there only being 14? years left of life on earth and the threat of millions of walkers at once so idk seems like there’s multiple storyline possibilities if they choose to continue

I was debating if i should post this on my main or idk send it here, but yeah no the demons lost and I'll just send here yk yk. Something interesting about team pe [ pentar and ecorridor on lifesteal season 6 ], is that they clearly care about each other however they are WILLING to lie to keep the other safe, or walk on eggshells so that the team won't fall apart, they won't fall apart. with Pentar hiding hearts from E, telling Flame to remove the part where he got himself killed, when E logged off Pentar goes back to hunting people for hearts [ what a freakazoid btw/pos ] and Ecorridor lying to Pentar about dying and probably much more because ecor doesn't stream much idk [ E release a ls video or stream and MY LIFE IS YOURS ] ... It's just so interesting because Pentar goes through extreme lengths to hide the fact that he kills and dies for Ecor, and for what? to keep E naïve? Is it for Gratification? It's quite selfish and hypocritical to keep someone in the dark so that they don't experience the bloodshed that you've been doing to other people among other things. then E finds about this he's like.... understanding? And is thankful for what pentar did for him?

they then promise to each other, that they would no longer keeps secrets but here we are with E hiding the fact that he already died [ and im betting 100 bucks that Pentar will continue lying ], so is the promise already broken? Is it even a promise by that point?

they're so supportive of each other but not open at all, so selfish and selfless. The things they do for each other like sdhiasldhusfef waow i lauv characters that have issues. <3

I wonder how long they would keep lying until it all blows up on their faces, and in this essay I will explain on how TEAM PE BREAK UP IS STILL ON THE TABLE !!!!!!! anyways I would say more but this is already too long of an ask lmao. So over the course of binging Camp Cretaceous over the weekend to the point of exhaustion, I can confidently say I love it. Kinda glad I waited this long to watch it since idk how I'd feel having to wait for Chaos Theory.

Did I hate nearly every main character at one point or another? Yes, undoubtedly so, stop saving every dinosaur you find when it means your friends will be in danger DARIUS YOU FUCK. Did season 4 start Kenji x Brooklynn (she's in middle school while he has FACIAL HAIR 🤮) and have the main protagonist be literally an incel with robot dogs? Yes, sadly.

HOWEVER, seasons 1 2 and 3 were phenomenal character studies on how 6 kids would handle being stranded on dinosaur Disney World. Not only how they would survive such a tragedy, but how they would grow and come to terms with complex emotions about themselves and their new found family.

Some examples being the phenomenal arc that Ben goes through when he becomes isolated from the entire group, and slowly realizes he's in a sink or swim situation in which being the same "Scared Ben" (his words) will get him killed. He realizes this when he's surrounded by Compies alone with no one he can rely upon, so he finds the strength within himself (that dog in him if you will) to intimate them into running away. Furthermore he continues to survive alone for weeks, growing so confident as to fight Toro (the carnotaurus) in order to get to main street, knowing he's severely outmatched, but that it's his only chance of rescue.

My personal favorite example (yes... sadly this happens in season 4 😭) involves Yasmina, the best character. Over the course of their 6 months on Isla Nublar, they have been abandoned by the people put in charge of their care, stranded on a jungle island filled with dinosaurs, along with 3 hybrid dinosaurs bred to be perfect killers, and had to fight to survive essentially everyday. So, upon leaving the island and having a chance to be rescued, only to find there's just more dinosaurs on island 2 electric boogaloo, something inside Yaz snaps. They actually commit to giving this 15 year old PTSD from dinosaurs! Which is the most sane and likely consequence of this situation. She constantly has nightmares about dinosaurs, and has panic attacks at the sight or sound of them, causing the group to actually have to factor that into plans and not have her do insane stuff like sprint from Tyrannosaurus Rex's.

Season 5 was also good and Daniel Kon was an enjoyable and well built up villain, but at that point all the kids are so feral from being stranded on 2 dinosaur islands that it's nowhere near as grounded as the first 3 seasons. Therefore I can't really bring myself to say things like "stop saving the dinosaurs Darius you are fucking stupid", because at that point, they're so lost in the sauce of being the most dedicated environmental activists ever, that they might as well finish the job.

OH! Did I mention that Bumpy is in fact a character in this show? Or that she's also the cutest ever? Or that they're making a Lego set of her that I WITHOUT A DOUBT will be purchasing? That's a very important part of the essay can't be leaving Bumpy out like that.

That's a decent amount of what I wanted to say about Camp Cretaceous, there may be more essays to come since this is a 5 season show and Chaos Theory just released. Thank you for reading.

Josuke Higashikata & Okuyasu Nijimura from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (ship name: josuyasu) vs Cole Brookstone & Jay Walker from lego ninjago (ship name: bruise)

JOSUYASU PROPAGANDA

Josuke is fairly decent, but okuyasu, you know how in math, if you multiply a negative number with a positive one it is always negative, that is josuyasu for you. Josuke has 6 braincells and Okuyasu has -6734. Their first meeting was okuyasu trying to kill josuke, then he shows up at his house a few days later and goes "hey lets go to school! btw your mom is hot!" Josuke punches a plate of spaghetti because he thinks the chef is evil, they both fight a middle schooler who stole their cash. Okuyasu got the third most op ability in his part but he is too stupid (and kind) to realize it. Somehow they survive their entire part. They are thus far the second jojo and jobro duo to not lose each other. the second one? THEM IN AN ALTERNATIVE UNIVERSE! (okay but okuyasu is swapped for koichi in that one, but still).

Josuke normally is pretty smart, but somewhat silly, but Okuyasu. Isn’t incredibly bright but he’s the best jojo character idc. Okuyasu brings out josukes stupid and then they are just besties and totally bouncing off each other’s stupid ideas. Idk what Okuyasu does to josukes brain but I’m here for it

I saw the post title and without reading anything else immediately went to submit them, only to go back and read the full post and realize they were included by default. They are THE dumbass duo. Ever. The worst protagonists for a detective story, but they dumbassed around so hard they somehow caught a genius serial killer. No matter who wins, they’ll always be the number 1 dumbasses in my heart.

they are the best of friends, which of course means they met by trying to kill each other.

They’re both so stupid. Like josuke isn’t that stupid on his own but he’s kinda dumb and when you put him with dumbass incarnate okuyasu they multiply each others’ stupidness. Together they are a menace.

JOSUKE AND OKUYASU FOR THE WIN BECAUSE THEY SPEND AN ENTIRE DAY TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHETHER OR NOT A RANDOM ITALIAN WAS EVIL BECAUSE HIS PASTA WAS TOO GOOD

Okuyasu and Josuke share a braincell and they lose that braincell at least 5 times a day

The majority of Diamond is Unbreakable is those two getting themselves and their friends into absurd situations. There's no way the sportsboys can compete with discovering aliens are (maybe???) real and immediately trying to use the alien(??) to cheat at dice. Then they burned down someone's house

They both come up with the dumbest ideas on the team and make jokes all the time

They got into a love triangle/fight because they were just dumb and missed each other. Also they’re canonical besties who are so fucking stupid but also love each other so much

They’re both just so silly… anxiety dumbass and emotional support dumbass…

They ended up in jail once because they broke a dangerous criminal out with good intentions, had a fight over a girl but in the end said that they were more upset about losing each other

part of the bruise propaganda being "they fought over a girl but actually they just missed each other too much" is RIDICULOUSLY funny to me they also were paired off at the start of season 8, resulting in jay mimicking cole, cole getting INCREDIBLY annoyed because jay doesn't understand how vows of silence work, and then the two of them getting into an argument which leads to an entire monastery of monks breaking their vow of silence. they singlehandedly caused an entire monastery of monks to break their vows of silence because they're that stupidly annoying. jay also got really jealous that the princess they meet in season 13 was interested in cole. like bro literally said "the princess seems interested in cole. i mean, he's my best friend and all, but, cole??" vote bruise.

Hiya, what is the broken earth trilogy about? I love book recs and I love dragon age but maybe you could give like a brief summary or something? I hope this doesn't come across as rude, English is not my first language

sure yeah I'm sure that once I give a synopsis it'll be really clear why I'm recommending it to Dragon Age fans lmao. it's very much playing in a similar fantasy space but like, the worldbuilding is phenomenal and the characters, idk, *clenches fist* they compel me

so the Broken Earth trilogy is set in a post-apocalyptic world known as the Stillness that is routinely visited every few centuries by world-shattering apocalypse events that kill off major swaths of the population. they can only be braced for and waited out, not averted. due to constant earthquake activity, humanity has been reduced to living in small, isolated, self-sustaining communities, with the exception of the luxurious city of Yumenes, which houses the continent's orogene population

orogenes are mages, able to harness and control the energy welling up from within the earth. they are taken from all over the Stillness to live and be trained in the Fulcrum, under the watchful eyes of the Guardians. if they aren't trained, they'd be nothing but a danger to themselves and to others, you see, and their communities might kill them first out of self defense. but without orogenes, society in the Stillness might collapse entirely

the series follows the lives of a number of orogenes as they are pushed to their breaking point and have to fight for survival in a hostile world. it's very concerned with how one creates and exploits a class of non-people, intergenerational trauma passed down from parent to child, and what might drive one to want to destroy the world and everyone living on it

there's also—because I know my audience—bisexual polyamory

I'll put content warnings for child abuse and sexual coercion and assault (this includes csa and child death) under the cut

content warnings apply mainly to the first book in the series. the following books don't touch on these things as heavily.

so the Fulcrum orogenes are enslaved persons, and are coerced by the Fulcrum into having sex with specific other orogenes for the purposes of breeding more orogenes. refusal to go along with this mandate can essentially blackball them from advancement within the Fulcrum and see them moved to undesirable postings, at best. one main character, Alabaster, has fathered multiple children against his will, and he and one of the viewpoint characters, Syenite, have some terrible unwanted (on-screen, but brief) sex that both were coerced into.

the main chapter which deals with this is The Fifth Season - chapter 4 - Syenite, cut and polished

now, warnings for child abuse, csa, and child death:

the series deals with very heavy themes, and neglect, violence, and death is simply a reality of life for children who are discovered to be orogenes, particularly at the hands of their family and other guardians. I'll list the most notable occurrences below

child abuse -

one of the more graphic moments of on-screen violence against a child occurs when Damaya has her hand broken, by a character who has positioned himself as her guardian, as a lesson in self-control. this level of violence is standard against orogene children taken to the Fulcrum.

the chapter in question in The Fifth Season - chapter 6 - Damaya, grinding to a halt

child abuse, sexual assault, and death -

it's revealed that a number of young orogene children are lobotomized, kept alive by doctors, and treated not as people but as earthquake-dampening machines operating on instinct. it's also mentioned that it's not uncommon for these children to be sexually abused. you see the aftermath of one of these abused children lashing out in self-defense, killing themself and those nearby.

the main chapter in question is The Fifth Season - chapter 8 - Syenite on the highroad

child death -

there are two major deaths of child characters, one of which occurred immediately before the start of the story as the story's catalyst, and one of which occurs toward the end of the first book.

the first instance is of Uche, who is a toddler. he is the son of the series' main character, Essun, and is beaten to death by his father in a fit of rage when he is discovered to be an orogene.

again, this occurs before the start of the series, although it is often referenced throughout.

the second instance is of an infant who is killed

he dies at the hands of his mother, Syenite, who despairingly attempts to kill him, herself, and everyone in the area to prevent him from being taken to the Fulcrum.

Prison Break recently got added to Netflix so I was like why not, I’d heard of it but never watched it at the time when it first came out but I thought yeah this looks good and then immediately got hooked and binged all 5 seasons. And then went down the rabbit hole looking up Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell and such and I saw they are going to be starring in a new show together which already sounds good so can’t wait for that to come out. I know the final season that came out years and years after season 4 finale was sort of mixed reviews but as someone bingeing it back to back I did like the sort of alternative ending for Michael. I also loved that they brought back the gang especially Sucre. I know they are planning to create a new show people keep calling it a season 6 but it’s not its prison break but a whole new cast from what I understand it won’t be any of the OG cast but just set in the same universe/world as the original Prison Break. Idk might watch it when it eventually comes out but I’m not typically a fan of that when shows get played out so long that they then have to move onto a ‘next generation’ because they’ve met their limit w/ the current characters storylines idk sometimes it can just feel like maybe just a little repetitive when shows do that sometimes but it could be done well so idk. I also cannot believe he is 52 actually none of the main cast really look their age. I also liked the surprise change in T-Bag in that final season and the twists with that too. I am almost tempted to start watching some of the DC stuff he’s been in even though I’ve not really watched anything from that before I mostly have just seen a lot of the marvel stuff over the years as that’s what Kade liked and he got me into it even then I’m not like on a level with die hards who know everything about the MCU. But I saw some GIFS on here when I was searching for prison break ones & the clips I did see looked good although I saw one saying he left after s1 because he didnt want to play straight characters anymore and then another one implying Snart was gay and they loved that he got to play a cunty gay villain so idk if one of those is wrong or they did switch him up to be gay cos of this who knows but I may just have to check it out. Side note I do keep seeing ads for The Penguin & it does look pretty good, but I kinda feel like with DC & MCU a lot of it feels like hard to get into if you dont already know the world its set in like Idk if I would’ve watched all of the marvel stuff if Kade hadn’t also given me extra info on the MCU I mean sure we’ve all watched some MCU & DC movies like come on who hasn’t but like not so much the shows so idk. Anyways I cannot wait to see more of Purcell & Miller together because I loved them as the brothers in Prison Break & I loved Prison Break I really like Schofield & Sucre’s friendship throughout the whole thing & as much as T-Bag is there to hate there was something to be said about how he always managed to survive like a cockroach I was for sure he was dead after he got his hand chopped off but nope he just kept on going til the end lol

my scrambled thoughts on TUA szn 4

(i wrote this in august as soon as it came out and it got lost in my endless sea of drafts) (if anyone still cares about this shows ending)

Alright guys, strap in, because I have thoughts.

I can't believe that's how they decide to end the entire show, with a season that leaves more unanswered questions than answered ones. I have TOO many thoughts on the entire season, and how so much of it essentially ruined the entire show.

First off, I understand that the characters were going to be coming into this season unbalanced and lost, considering they were all without powers and trying to create lives for themselves after being forced to constantly save the world over and over again. That would cause anyone to lose their minds a little bit and act out of character/ selfishly.

But Five....oh my GOD.

Listen. I know that people put a character like Five on a pedestal and kinda immortalize him because of the type of person he is. He's labelled as a cold hearted assassin whose soft protective side comes out only when trying to save his family. I get that people label him as aro/ace (which can make sense I suppose). But here's the thing. I don't think it was gross for Five to fall in love. I believe Five is fully capable of falling in love. I DO think, however, that #1: that the way they went about it was unnecessary, and #2: there were so many other ways to expand his character and show his softer and more vulnerable side!!!

When I first watched season 4 (binged it as soon as it dropped even though i tried very hard to not ITS ONLY 6 EPISODES CMON), I didn't...hate the whole Five x Lila thing (LISTEN SPARE ME PLEASE). On paper, these two characters are very alike and it's not completely far fetched for them to pair up. They were both trained assassin's and understood each other's trauma. When they stopped hating each other, they actually confided in one another and became a great duo. Granted, the duo was very much sibling or cousin-y, but still. I feel like if Aiden was older during season 2 and 3, and if he was stuck inside an adult body instead of,,,uh,,,A THIRTEEN YEAR OLD???? it would've been in the cards for the two to eventually get together. But here's the thing, it came so out of left field. The way the dynamic was due to the actors ages and appearances in the previous seasons, it was just not even a thought that crossed anyones mind (unless ur sick in the head). It kinda ruined the prior seasons for me because now I see them interact in those and I get a gross feeling, like oh they're bickering like siblings but wait....they end up getting nasty....IDK. I get the whole enemies to lovers, but you can't establish an iconic sibling pairing and then just make them do...that.

Note to the writers, people want a slow burn. We wanna see the process, the little things that lead to a relationship between two people. Even in the first few episodes they had Five and Lila together but it didn't feel like anything romantic was happening. It was just so sudden.

Here's the thing. The only reason I liked Five and Lila together was because of how Five was during the subway era. He really did get his retirement storyline, he had someone to take care of and he got to live this soft life, even if it was incredible short lived and also only due to proximity. I only wish that if they HAD to give Five a romantic story line that it wasn't fake, that it was actual real love that could happen. Also, as soon as episode 5 happened and Five and Lila kissed, I knew that the show couldn't have ended in a way where they all survived. I knew that that was the moment the writers decide to let them all go to shit, because there was truly no coming back from that.

I just think that they relied too heavily on montages to tell the passage of time to explain their behaviour, because that's kinda the only way you can defend how the characters acted. They just tried to fit too much content into 6 little episodes and it just became confusing. Even in the first episode, I wanted to see the characters adapt to their new surroundings, not just 6 years later when the next tragic thing occurs.

A storyline I wish we got to see with Five was him having a breakdown and not being able to handle the pressure of always fixing things, and having his siblings come to support him emotionally and allow for him to open up. I really wanted Five to open up about his trauma, and that could've been a great way for him to express that softer emotional side of him.

Here's the thing. People saying that it was so far fetched for him to fall in love is something I have to disagree with. I agree that they didn't need to include it, but it wasn't something out of character for him. TBH, I know his motivation is his family, but I don't think he would've survived his original apocalypse has he not had Dolores. That guy is a romantic through and through, and 100% has the capacity to fall in love. Not even that, he definitely deserved to fall in love. I just don't know if it was with his brother's wife.

Now, going back to the putting-Five-on-a-pedesal-thing, I do believe that Five finding happiness and love with Lila in the greenhouse timeline was more or less valid. Like, the guys been through so much, I think Five finding love in an unethical way doesn't mean that he's some horrible disgusting character. I'm more focused on Five's feelings than the repercussions his actions hold, if that make's sense. Of course it's devastating to see Diego find out, but still, Five got to experience love for the first time. And man oh man is he adorable when he's in love. The way he spoke to Lila with such softness even when they were fighting, the way he took care of her, THE BRACELET :((((, and to be so honest with y'all when they went back and they were all sitting in the living room, Five looking beyond angry and jealous truly did something to me. Maybe I'm just toxic....lmao.

(also side note I wanted to mention, I feel like the whole reason Diego and Lila worked is because Diego was the level headed one in the relationship. Detective Patch and Diego didn't work because (well she died but ALSO) he was the irrational one in that pairing. Patch saw him as crazy and immature. But with Lila, Diego grew into his protective and masculine side).

Overall, I think Five was acting selfish and self serving, something we haven’t really seen from him in the past seasons. He was prioritizing himself and his “relationship” with Lila when I know for a fact he never would’ve done that before this season. It just shows that he’d given up, which makes me so sad. He didn’t care about saving the world, he didn’t even really care about his siblings in the end. It makes me upset because you can visibly see the hope leave him as soon as he sits on the sofa with everyone and sees Lila with Diego, I feel like that was really his last straw. (Hey man I get it, first loves are tricky but come ON).

As for the ending, I was left truly unsatisfied and disappointed. For a family that had gone through so much together, they really just,,,ceased to exist. It would’ve been better if they died after a satisfying season of being there for each other and supporting one another and having heart to hearts but they didn’t. They all went on separate side quests and came back to die. There were too many other options and plot holes for me to even consider this ending they gave us.

This is not to say that I think this season was a waste. I really did enjoy the first few episodes, as they progressed it just started getting more confusing and they started adding unnecessary content. I loved the road trip aspect, and I have to give kudos to Aidan Gallagher, this was HIS season. His acting was truly one of the best performances I’ve seen, especially since his character is probably the trickiest one to play. I liked that this season got to show his range as an actor, seeing him be soft and sweet was honestly a nice change from his normal sassy self.

AnyWAYS the way I'm rereading this moths later and I still feel as strongly as I did in August sitting under the covers at 2am with my laptop screen being my only source of light as my heart dropped to my ass hearing "On the 12th hour of the 8th day of August 2024, absolutely nothing out of the ordinary happened" and realizing the show is truly over and we'll never get more content with the siblings.

like obviously it's always sad when the doctor regenerates but 13 makes me feel such a specific kind of misery and sorrow at how she was treated (and by extension how we, the handful of fans left standing, were treated) during her era like obviously her casting was always gonna be controversial but the sheer level of vitriol directed at her was so exhausting... and then on the other side the absolutely insane decline in interest even from the fandom itself like i remember how excited the entirety of tumblr was when she was announced it was literally unavoidable even when i wasn't on the dw side of tumblr. and then like everyone just gave up on her which yeah ppl are gonna lose interest if the plot is bad which don't get me wrong it is but when is it not? ppl survived 6 seasons of moffat but gave up after like less than a season of this? and that's the other thing it's just so fucking frustrating how all the horrifically bad writing somehow gets blamed on HER? like somehow casting a woman made the WRITING BAD??? THE WRITING DONE BY A MAN?? not to mention a man who's been writing for this show for decades now😭 and she's literally just a character but somehow the entire responsibility of just how shit her era is falls on her shoulders despite her being a made up woman on a screen which every shitty person still uses as a gotcha as to why the doctor should never have been a woman. and ofc there's the ppl who specifically disliked her personality coz she was too cold or too mean etc all of which are things ppl easily forgive or ignore or outright love abt any doctor played by a man and let's not even get INTO thasmin. like sorry this is so incoherent but im so endlessly sad about how the joy and hype of finally getting a woman doctor turned into everyone abandoning the show, including the people that were initially rly excited and hopeful like yeah i get why ppl hate the plot i hate it too but i have such a deep sense of loyalty to 13 idk I'll always cling to her with all my claws she deserved so much better both writing-wise and fan-reception wise😭 anyway...

Total Drama is CANON to this universe. That's what they're implying. Unless this is an AU.

I THINK when Oliver said "This Show" he meant that SURVIVOR, the show Total Drama is based on, doesn't exist in THEIR universe, and Total Drama IS the equivalent of Survivor in THEIR universe.

Total Drama took place in the years they were airing in real life. So TDI took place in 2007 for example. And the last season, before the reboot anyway, was Pahketiew Island. AKA, the worst TD Season EVER. That aired in...

2014.

So if this same logic applies here, then this show takes place in...

2022.

So it's an EIGHT YEAR TIME GAP.

So after Total Drama got cancelled for Chris McLean's island scheme, before the show was revived in 2023, Disventure Camp Season 1 would take place in 2021.

And the original Disventure Camp, the season ran by Derek and Trevor, was aired as a shady site due to their crimes. Which is why they got people messed up in the head and/or desperate for money, to do the show. THEN when they got caught, a year later, the rights of the show went to Krystal, someone of much higher power and Chris McLean's daughter, and she kept the show alive and aired this season.

This was a pretty good character episode.

It's almost like now that a certain someone is out of the picture, I FEEL LIKE I CAN BREATHE. I CAN ENJOY THINGS AGAIN. I CAN BE INVESTED IN CHARACTER BITS MORE.

Instead of bitching about this one guy.

I liked her at the start too, but not to the point where I was like "LOVE YA GIRLIEPOP, MUST PROTECT."

And now I am "LOVE YA GIRLIEPOP, MUST PROTECT."

I am SO GLAD that was a fakeout elimination. Because if that was real, I WOULD'VE BEEN PISSED. Because that would've butchered all her character development, made it all pointless, and plus that's just such a cheap and rigged way to eliminate a character.

That's why Leshawna's TDI Elimination is THE worst elimination of all of these shows. AND I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS.

Do I think she's winning? Eh...? Idk. I don't know if a million dollars really suits her character and what they're doing with her, ya know?

If you're asking me who I think is winning: Rosa or Aiden.

Aiden has just been "The Innocent Boy" The entire time, and his association with the SNAKE of the cast is building up to something for sure.

I LOVE that James killed Yul. But in terms of being around Aiden, I'm not won over YET.

I still can't ignore the uh... CONSENTUAL ISSUES between them.

Like, come on, how hard is it to ASK before you snuggle up to someone? Especially if they're NOT your significant other.

And I just love Rosa. And I honestly see no scenario where she could be eliminated.

She's a lot like Owen and Wayne in that sense. Where her whole strategy is just being the nicest person around, and thus nobody wants to vote her off or hurt her.

Plus she actually DOES have some strategic moments with her girls alliance, and she knows morals and stands for them. So, yeah, I'm routing for Rosa.

She can use the money to raise her child. It would be so sweet!

She's a Paddington. That's all I'll say. She is a Paddington and a beacon of light in such a CRUEL, MISERABLE environment where there's so much deception and hate going around. And not only does she refuse to get pushed, but she also says that sweetheart. I SALUTE HER.

I also hope we get to know more about Tess. Idk. MAYBE I was stupid and didn't understand what was going on in that scene. Mostly because they don't explain it.

Like, I get that maybe you don't want an info dump. But I, the audience, needs to understand what's going on. I'm not in the writer's head! I don't know this character! I need to be explained what's going on!

I know she's an orphan. I know she's depressed. I THINK that scene was hinting towards a trauma trigger from either caves or the dark? But I don't know??? I don't know what they were saying there.

Maybe I'm stupid. If someone can explain that scene better, PLEASE. I want to understand this.

But, uh, here's a criticism for Disventure Camp:

There's several times in these episodes where they cut away before things can be explained. And several times it cuts away before I feel like the scene is properly done. It's weird pacing, and it's also depriving the audience of information we SHOULD have.

Like, Hunter says he'll talk to them about the love triangle situation. THEN IT CUTS AWAY. And next time we see them they're in the same bed and a confessional tells us what they talked about.

Like, you don't need a confessional there. You could've just, idk, SHOWN ME the scene where he talks about this to them. Then when we start this episode and they're all in the same bed, I wouldn't be scratching my head, I would be flattered because then I'd know what the conversation was and why they were doing that.

That's just an example. There's multiple others I could use.

Even in Season 1, even if it's not AS bad there, it's still there. Like when it cut away before Jake could tell Ellie his situation. Though, I can excuse THAT, because we the audience already knew of the situation and those aspects of Jake's backstory, so we didn't need to hear it again.

But everything else, idk, I feel like I should know more than I know.

This is like... just an example, The Amazing Digital Circus, only when they're in hell, we DON'T get Pomni breaking down and crying or Kinger's speech about love and memory. After Pomni gets saved from possession, we just go straight to them figuring out how to get past the damned soul corridor.

No, there's not a lot of action of them sitting there, so it's not the most fun scene to make, but it's NECESSARY, and helps you FEEL the characters and understand in full what's going through their heads.

You NEEDED that heart to heart. You NEEDED Pomni to cry. You NEEDED Kinger to explain his dementia. Otherwise you'd just be scratching your head on what the character's context is, because it's context you don't have.

This isn't a mystery show. So I think this criticism is valid.

It's a pacing issue. It's not a criticism I give out of spite. I'm just saying a flaw I have picked up on.

And I do hope they do better with this going forward and we get some really good character moments in the future.

And before you say "Runtime". This isn't Total Drama. This is an indie show that can do whatever they want and run these episodes as long as they want. So they ABSOLUTELY can make episodes 5-10 minutes longer to accompany some backstory and character building.

I know they can't do flashbacks or anything like that in this format, but idk, you could do some visual stuff with the setting to tell the story or something.

(I'm, at this point, asking to be hired as a writer.)

Good episode.

When was the last time you cried? Sometime recently, idk. Hormones be like that.

Do you have kids? Yes, 6 so far. I've got my fingers crossed for 8.

What sports do you play/have you played? As a tiny thing, soccer and basketball. Survived one year of high school marching band, which ought to count. And a single season of high school tennis, which I loved but was extremely bad at.

Do you use sarcasm? Yes.

What is the first thing you notice about people? Good vibes or bad vibes. Depending on how intense the social anxiety is at that moment, I may not get any further.

What's your eye color? Bluish-grayish.

Scary movies or happy endings? Both, obviously.

Any talents? I can "do" some things but I'm not particularly talented at them, such as, creative writing and playing various string instruments.

Where were you born? USA.

What are your hobbies? I only do hobbies off and on (mostly off). I think about writing novels and poetry and blog posts (but do not ever follow through anymore. It's like a mental block.) Theoretically I do fiber arts (knit, spin, weave. Someday I will master crochet and make those little stuffies.) I used to hike and go camping. I am supposed to be taking up soapmaking and candlemaking this year but I keep putting it off because reasons. A few times a year I remember I used to be a musician and play something. Tumblr probably shouldn't count as a hobby but, here we are. Every once in a while I'll read a dozen or so books in a row (but mostly I read along with my children for homeschool and that's all the bandwidth there is.)

Do you have any pets? We have barn cats and chickens, but my favorite cats are no longer present (I'm not bitter, she said, bitterly) and I do not consider the chickens pets (my children disagree.) Well, okay, there is one exception: the friendliest rooster ever to exist, who thinks he belongs in the house, sitting on your lap or perched on your wrist like a falcon. Alas that he is not house trained.

Hey! If you'd be open to it, I was interested in hearing your thoughts on any Failtopia pairings that you particularly enjoy and the reasons you do? Whether they be platonic or romantic-

YESSSS I HAVE AN EXCUSE TO YAP ABOUT CHARACTER INTERACTIONS YWUAJSJEJJEJR!!! OKAY!! So idk how put together this is since there is a mix of my typing when I’m super tired + typing when I just woke up so I’m praying that what I’m saying makes sense LMAO. TLDR: I really like failtopia’s characters

So starting off with what is probably the most popular dynamic in this series: Bo and Erica!! To say they’ve both Gone Through It is an understatement, and them both finding comfort and safety in each other is amazing to me!! Like. Erica’s had so many people die on her and the reaction to finding out that was nearly impossible to lose Bo was just. Flawless. Can’t believe Dan improvised that. And Bo was sent to just kill Mar and work for Screamith but Erica was pretty much the start to her letting her true self shine and developing an actual attachment to The Incident!! It’s so awesome how Dan has wrote them. we love our gay level 6 “friendship” girlbosses ‼️‼️

Mar and Orion have also gone through a handful of things before the series begins, and the relationship they develop as the series progresses is pretty dang interesting! as much as the fandom focus on EriBo as a romantic thing, more people need to talk about how Mar has explicitly shown he has a crush on Orion. MULTIPLE TIMES. The idea of Orion opening up to Mar after he lost his wife and Mar opening up to Orion after his time as the Dark Curse and AGGHH I love these two so much and the way they interact every time they’re on screen is amazing. old man yaoi

I imagine C!Failboat and Erica as exes. like they dated for like a week and were both mutually like “that was awful let’s just stay friends”, They had a bunch of small interactions together (especially in S1) and I like them being friendly towards each other, Erica finding a friend in C!Fail was a pretty good step for her arc! I also think the idea of C!Fail and Erica being childhood friends in non-Miitopia AUs very intriguing!! Any content of those two interacting (that isn’t romantic) is always a nice thing to see!

Taking a break from the more popular relationships/friendships in this series, we have Deko and Joker!! For two characters that barely interact in canon there’s a lot you can do with them! They’re just two anime boys trying to survive in this weird party. I have a lot of thoughts on them but I just can’t form it aghahajsjjs but the main one is that they aren’t alone in what they’re going through, and no matter what backstory you use for Joker it still has a lot of potential!! I’m sure people can explain this one better than I can I just really like this rarepair!! while on the topic of Joker, shoutouts to his friendship with Lanc!! You can’t convince me Joker didn’t have a crush on them. Just watch their interactions in Karkaton and you’ll probably get what I mean lmaoo

I just need to mention the sisters!! even if they aren’t sisters by blood, Chi and Erica both have the energy! Chi being the thing that really gets Erica out of her “I hate everything” phase in both seasons needs to be talked about more. They bring out the best in each other I swear,, again I promise I can talk about them more my brain just isn’t giving me the words rn, but I think Gnome explains it best!

While on sibling dynamics, Bill and Shrimp is so great to me. Like. Bill helping Shrimp out not only because he likes her music, but also out of the genuine kindness of his heart is so sweet to me!! They’re so nice every time they’re on screen together and it’s fun to see them battling by each other’s sides!! plus the matching outfits in the finale was also a great touch :]

I’ve mentioned these two before, but Bill and Chi are criminally underrated imo. Like. They’re the only members of the Incident who have just recently turned 18, Chi’s literally Bill’s mentor after he changed jobs, and their dynamic is just so fun to work with!! Bill’s more mature and ‘normal’ while Chi is Chi and will set things on fire For Science and I think scenarios where they’re together are really fun to come up with!! Same with Shrimp and Chi!! The sister dynamic they have is also super underrated, like they’re a Fire and Water duo!! I think there’s a lot of things you can do there :0

look I am more than aware these two have never interacted but that’s cuz Dan is a COWARD and knows that Bo and Lanc being in the same room would lead to so much mayhem lmaoo. Out of everyone in The Incident (apart from Chi obviously) I see Lanc getting along with Bo the best! a lot of stuff I have for them is pretty based on fanon but you can’t tell me they wouldn’t gossip about the lastest drama with the party and the outside world. I swear they’re besties, they relate to each other, just hear me out. I also think Rose and Bo can be great friends and they really have a LOT in common!! Princess who faked their whole identity gang ‼️‼️

I love Erica and Rose just being each other’s biggest hater, it’s my favorite thing ever. it’s canon that Rose only shows off for Erica to prove to her that she’s better than her and that’s amazing to me. They’re both just so done with each other lmaoo (also the headcanon of them each other’s gay awakenings is perfect)

I think Friend and Mar interactions could be cool!! Like for starters they had some pretty huge connections to Hank they could bond over. also I find Mar being canonically a demon mixed with the headcanon of Friend being an angel very fun!! I also think Friend and Erica could be fun to see, especially with Erica’s past as a Cleric!! shared jobs and trauma!!

Mar and literally any FailFleet member can be funny I think, like we already have the Neksdor Three obviously, but I think an ACTUAL Bob and Mar reunion will lead to someone getting beat up lol, everyone in the S1 Squad would all have very different view points on if Mar deserves to be forgiven or not, or if he’s a good leader, etc. and I think that there should be more done with that!!

Orion’s friendship with the rest of The Incident is also a very important part of why the party is the way it is!! There’s absolutely characters with awful relationships to their dads, fathers that are barely around, or just never had a parental figure at all. I LOVE that Orion was able to fill that void for those party members, and he does a damn good job at it too!! And of course the parallels he has with Erica is great, both are stubborn warriors with a lot of baggage, but also have a lot of differences, like their views on stuff like becoming a healer!! Orion being like a mentor to Erica is great. also shoutouts to Slapo, we love her. I think her interacting with other members of The Incident is also something that’s needed more!!

Speaking of fathers, scenes with Chat and C!Fail are downright hilarious! Chat’s insanity mixed with C!Fail’s attitude always leads to some crazy thing going down! Chat with anyone really is always a treat, since they’re way more than too much to handle most of the time, and seeing how everyone reacts to their shenanigans is always gonna be fun!!

Smuk, Rose, and Bob’s relationship is just perfection. Bob obviously crushing on Rose is so great to see when they have scenes together and Smuk basically proposing to Rose (but not really) with that ring is also cool!! And of course we gotta mention Smuk and Bob’s bromance in Greenhorne, those two were inseparable a lot of the time I swear, I love them a lot, I’m praying if we get S3 we have those three come back (along with Petunyawn)

Deko’s friendship with both Chi and Lanc is vital to his arc!! Similar to Erica, he had gone through quite a lot before S1 and traveling with them got him to warm up to them and helped him get better control of his powers!! Lanc and Chi being absolute goofsters while Deko has no energy is VERY amusing!! also Deko, someone who was experimented on, being paired up with two soon-to-be scientists is vile lmaoo, why do you do this Dan /pos

SPEAKING OF THOSE SCIENTISTS!! If you thought I wasn’t gonna bring up Lanchi at all then you’re wrong. These two. These two are my everything. They’re undoubtedly my OTP!! There is quite a handful of canon evidence (in both seasons!) that point to Something going on between them!! I’d list them all out rn, but imma save that for another time, so I’ll just stick to saying everything I like about them!! The way Lanc and Chi just bounce off each other is insane. I swear they can read each other’s minds sometimes, they actually just share a braincell!! Lanc being all nervous in the Finale and Chi comforting them,, and ofc Chi being inspired by Lanc to switch jobs in S2 is just GAHAJJJJW I LOVE THEM!! They’ve been living rent free in my head since 2021 and I can’t get them out even if I tried!! EVERY SINGLE INTERACTION they have can be read as romantic. I refuse to believe they’re just friends lmaoo
