Xie Lian’s Relationship with Pain Thoughts™️

It’s canon Xie Lian doesn’t care much about his physical wellbeing bc as far as he’s concerned he’ll just heal anyway and he’s already gone through the worse, so what’s one more injury?

But I think there could also be more to that.

On the one hand, physically, I think him being hurt with no one to care for most of his very long life has kinda developed into warped nerve sensitivity. Like he went through so much that some pains don’t register (or slowly fade into just another part of him) as he unconsciously suppresses his feelings and discomfort, but gentle touch is so rare for him that he has no “defense” against them. He’s hypo-sensitive to harsh things but hypersensitive to gentle things.

On the other hand, emotionally, Xie Lian has gone through torture and suffering for 800 years with no scar to show for it. He carries his pain in his head but it doesn’t show on his body, and it creates a dissonance within like “did I really go through that? Was it really that bad if it even did happen?” It makes nothing happening to his body feel real after a day or month or year (bc what is a year to someone who’s lived for 800?)

So, in that side of it, I think the lack of consideration for his physical safety and nonchalance when it comes to pain is his way of “proving” to himself that he’s there, present, and his experiences are real (bc, to him, that’s evidence more reliable than nightmares) for as long as the pain will last.

the hand pose 😭 the way little kacchan held it at the sides, but katsuki now holds it like izuku did. he just wants to catch up to him, to be someone like him, to have him close and connect with him like they could easily do before 😭 like he's always wanted that deep down but admitting it would admit his weakness. i'm just so heartbroken at all the ways he must've thought of to atone for his mistakes, to fix their relationship, after everything. like they can do that after the war, as long he's by his side. but he had to let that go when he thought he had to die. he had to die knowing that won't happen but he did anyway because izuku looks up to him and he expects him to win and he's his image of victory and he wants to be that so bad for izuku. 😭

Following up to my previous post, is Haytham a black cross?

Reading the AC wiki:

-"It has been remarked that the unique skill set required of a Black Cross is akin to taking a cutting from the Assassin tree... And grafting it to that of the Templars."

Literally what happened in Forsaken. Cut him off from the assassins(killing his father), then raised him as a templar who killed traitors.

-"The variety of methods used by a Black Cross during investigations included other Assassins skills like espionage, pickpocketing, freerunning, interrogation, close-combat, ranged-combat, and blending using various socioeconomic statuses. "

As shown in AC3 sequence 1-3 , He's skilled in almost everything here. Infiltrating, eavesdropping and also disguises .

-"A Black Cross also committed assassinations of key individuals that became corrupted, a defining attribute of the Assassins, though these skills were instead used to maintain the Order's stability and integrity."

He assassinated a greedy merchant, an Austrian prince(Though they both may or may not be templars), The cheesemaker(Who was a traitor), and Braddock(Also a traitor).

The only thing not supporting this is the fact that he doesn't have the signature pin, but:

"After the silversmith François-Thomas Germain joined the Templars' Parisian Rite and became Grand Master François de la Serre's lieutenant, he crafted cross-shaped pins for the Order's members that would later become the Black Cross' signature weapon"

This implies that the previous Black Crosses don't have the pins.
