something i dearly love about seven in these books, aside from him just being a lovely, complex, layered character, is that even on an individual book basis hes constantly oscillating between

- old man merlin who knows everything and is silly and also kind of a pain in the ass

- weird animal with reflective eyes skittering around in the dark

- unspeakable, incomprehensible ancient horror temporarily taking human shape

- childrens educational mascot addressing the audience

- birthday magician

- middle aged divorcee who wont go to therapy

there really is something about the seventh doctor... he's terrible and he's wonderful and he's cute and he's silly and he's a cartoon character and he's the most tortured littol guy in the world. i want to whack him with a rubber mallet i want to hurt him until he's dizzy and covered in his own blood i want to chew on him like a squeaky dog toy. i want to watch his plans fall apart and i want to watch his latest loony tunes skit blow up in his face and i want to kick him down the stairs. i want to show him that he is so loved. i want to show him that his actions have consequences. i want him to be both kind and cruel in equal measure. it's as they say: brutus, taze him again

i love ford & his association with gold so much you don’t UNDERSTAND. gold is often associated with power and prestige and success, and it is durable in its own way - it’s one of the least reactive metals out there, and doesn’t really tarnish or rust - but it’s also famously (or infamously, depending on who you ask) soft, ranking similarly to a human fingernail on the mohs hardness scale. you can bend pure gold with your bare hands. the connection between stanford pines and a precious metal that is incredibly durable and yet so easy to manipulate is actually driving me insane
