her eyes widen. everyone in cornelia, she believed, was relatively well cared for when it came to illnesses. she had read in the royal archives of mysterious illnesses centuries ago in the kingdom that many had attributed to 'chaos' or 'the darkness' but they hadn't been seen since. she had read of many losing their lives to the dark disease and was thankful that there was nothing like that in her time. how had her ancestors fared in such a time? did it put strain on the relationship between the royals and their citizens? did many blame the upperclass for their struggles? she wasn't sure how she would be handle such things if she had been in their position. she wondered if it was like that for sabin. if it was struggle for him during those times of sickness and she wondered how he got through it all aside from the training he had mentioned. did he have somewhere there to hold his hand and encourage him? she'd like to think so. 

"oh that's terrible!" sarah frowns. "but it is good that you are so well now! i wouldn't be able to tell that you ever used to be so frail as you put it. you must have had a very good and skilled instructor!" she thinks of her own instructors - the traveling bard that taught her how to use her voice and her lute in battle and of biggs and wedge teaching her how to use a sword in case she ever needed one to defend herself (again).

"oh, um..." she bites her lip and looks around. thankfully the antiques shop is just ahead and she points (it's rather unladylike) and says, "t-there is the antiques shop!" she stands up and continues, "n-never mind about my, um, family and my sister! shall we proceed to the shop? i'm sure mistress sophia will have what you're seeking." a tinge of red can be spied on her cheeks as she begins walking, not leaving sabin with much of an opportunity at the immediate moment to question her. she knows it is unbecoming, but she also didn't want to lie. that was also very unladylike, too, and she wasn't sure she was quite ready yet to tell him of her status. she was sure that all of her people knew , but for travelers from far and wide... well, that was another story and she knew it was reckless to come out here without an escort with some many strangers afoot. 

she calls back after him, "i believe last time mistress sophia had a flute in stock. maybe she will have a guitar this time? and you can tell me more about your time playing such an instrument!"

in times like these, sabin thinks it's better to not tell people he's a prince. it's not that he feels ashamed for who he is now, but rather, he simply sees no point in admitting that: after all, sabin is very content and comfortable with his life as a monk. but still, he easily admits, ❛  well, i remember some things. see, when i was still a little kid, i was actually quite frail and was ill often, so i wasn't really allowed to ride horses.  ❜ sabin grins. ❛  the me you're talking to right now is the result of over twenty years of extensive training! wild, huh? i can totally handle horses and carriages now with no problems!  ❜

it's a shame that edgar couldn't have one too. sabin hopes he could take his brother and relm here one day. those two would most likely team up against him and edgar would spoil her. sabin would like that. ❛  you should! but if you live here, wouldn't your family be able to buy these by themselves? that reminds me... how come they're not with you today?  ❜ he is actually quite curious about that... why is she wandering around a festival all by herself if she has family here?

but all of his suspicions immediately becomes forgotten as he swallows the last of his snack and dusts his hands off, his eyes glistening happily. ❛  musical instruments? she wouldn't happen to have guitars, would she...? i used to play guitar when i was younger! it was such a nice hobby... if you can play an instrument too, then we can play together, sarah! it'd be fun!  ❜
