Look, when your parents divorce, you sometimes begin to wonder if love is real. When you find it - even if it's in a sketchy vid taken by three cherub related hell spawns - you jump on it.

Victor and Yuri are likely to see Lilia and Yakov as parent figures. They do be bro fighting. (Yuri wondering is Yuuri is good enough for his big bro with some teen BS tossed in because of course, especially after their 'parents' broke up.) So like...

Honestly? Both their attitudes make scene. Why Yuuri is so important to Victor. Why Otabek seems to calm Yuri down (You NEED a friend some times who doesn't judge your bullshit). Why Yakov is having such a hard time. Why Lilia is so stand-off-ish. Parents who still work together for their kids.

But like, Victor is Yakov's fave and Yuri is Lilia's. Even if it's only a slight advantage to each.

yakov is still wearing his wedding ring when we first see him in the gpf finals!

(and yes, that’s his right hand, i know. in russia engagement/wedding rings are worn in your right hand [the same applies to yoiverse in general, as we can see from these fine examples])

but the next time we see him…

is gone!

we know the gpf finals are in mid december and victor leaves for japan in mid april, so yakov and lilia’s divorce is very recent. i always imagined it happened years ago, but looks like i was way off.

which brings us to another thing

do you realize how shitty few months these must have been for yakov? first his wife of who-knows-how-many-decades files for divorce, then his star skater (who he probably pretty much thinks of as a son at this point) ditches him without a warning to answer an international bootycall. and let’s not even start with the mess that is the rest of his protégés… this man is in serious need of a holiday.

(things might be looking up for yakov though, since kubo mentioned in an interview that it’s possible him and lilia might get back together one day!)

im guessing no mangy devil chihuahuas or rescues (compacflt can't be seen with anything but a purebreed) golden retriever might be too on the nose, how about a malinois or a german shepherd maybe an english bulldog (ugly)

idk. i don’t really have a dog in this fight (i don’t care) (pun intended). but it definitely would have to be like a Real Dog. yeah nothing smaller than 70 lbs. a Real Dog. other than that i don’t have any opinions. could be a mutt or a rescue! but it would have to be, you know, handsome and upstanding and like, a Real Dog that you can, like, do stuff with. it is very cliche and on the nose and maybe im only saying this bc i, like, don’t care at all about dogs but ice does seem like the white lab/golden retriever guy and mav strikes me as a german shepherd guy. there are many reasons i don’t think they would ever have a dog (what would they do with the dog?) but not being able to agree on the breed might be one reason they never get a dog. arguing and bickering etc

on my walk i saw that part of the little stream nearby was frozen which was interesting because i haven’t really seen larger bodies of water freeze at all in recent years i remember when i was little off of our later patch of berries there was a section of woods that was really marshy there was usually several inches of water at a time and the most i saw was around a foot and a half but it used to freeze over completely in the winter and i would love walking out over it but in the several years leading up to when we sold the farm it hadn’t frozen over at all and i was always disappointed it felt so magical to little me to see it frozen

Trip gets pushed back a day late cause of weather. Grandpa and grandma get sick with norovirus the day we get here so we have to stay at my dad’s coworkers spare house while here. Grandpa has to go to the ER and into isolation. We spend a lot of today talking about how aunt and uncle are going to get grandparents back home. Night ends with dad’s fiancee throwing up in the car on the ride to drop us off back at spare house. 

Still a better, more relaxing vacation than any I’ve had with my mom.
