Masks of Humanity

This was a project about Globalization and its effects on individuality. 

The story for our set of masks begins with the story of immigrants arriving to the foreign land. 

The black mica base represents the soi-disant root. The black color means mystery. Immigrants come onto the new land, they seek to start a new chapter of their lives. The majority of them leave their past behind and move on. Their sense of belonging is attached to the new land rather than their motherland. 

The four masks represent different individuals. The masks represent the seeds. Why is it that we have chosen the masks? It is because when immigrants will have to choose their new “identity” to fit in. The masks hide the real faces and help people become who they want to be. The “perfect” mask is filled with words that dictate feelings and appearance. In life, we all have some one to look up to. Someone who, according to our opinion, is flawless. The three makes are made from that one perfect mask but they do not have the same shape as the mold. This signify the strong individuality meaning that we adjust ourselves to be better, not to be someone else.

Experimental Animated Short - Positivity is key

Synopsis: A struggling writer is trying to overcome his writer’s block. He must do whatever he can to finish his draft on time in hope for a chance to publish his book.

I made this when I was still an undergrad student in 2017. My working condition was the same as my production team, completely terrible. Nonetheless, I was still able to complete the film with an acceptable overall quality. I am not so proud of it but I appraise my resilience in difficult circumstances. I did what I could and got the best out of the poor situation. Moreover, the animation was done in just less than a week. I managed to carry through even when my teammates selfishly abandoned me because they have “other” assignments to do.

I am truly thankful for the experience. I really am because I have learnt so many things which are extremely beneficial. Although making mistakes is unavoidable, it is okay since the solutions compensate what I lack. As a result, I become much more competent and efficient in management.
