Sorry if this is a bad question or more likely just hopeless. I’ve been trying to find a good Connor Hawke comic to read (first found out about him in Damian’s Robin solo and he and Rose were the only two things I liked besides the Robin chase but I’m a bat brat) and I’ve only read the Silver Monkey story and as I’m not a fan of Oliver Green at all (my exposure to him has in no way been positive) and I HATE Dixon and I know he’s the main writer for Connor, but I had to drop the Tim solo because of his obvious, I guess bigotry would be the right word to use here, but he is one of the three writers I refuse to let myself read anymore to try and keep my blood pressure low. Are there any Connor stories or series that exist outside of those parameters to read because I’m having 0 luck. I’m also not sure if you’re a fan of Mia or Emilio or have any go-to stories for them, but I know nothing about them and I’d like to change that if at all possible.

i understand, i do i do. while i think dixon is capable of good character writing, and he did manage to do it in connor's run, i also understand his very very obvious politics shine through all the time and it gets tiresome (at one point in his ga run he manages to write OLIVER QUEEN "both sides"ing literal nazis that he and hal fought in GL/GA). here's the best i can do for recs outside of dixon (though few and far between)

Before i start, i do wanna clarify that his character in robin is. well. pretty different from his actual pre-established character. I'm not saying you won't like him, and im genuinely begging you to give him a shot, but if youre looking for the snarky brawler type, you might be a lil thrown by the polite buddhist monk you're gonna get.

you are in luck, as his first few appearances were by kelley puckett, so if you havent already read GA vol. 2 #0, do that first! #91 and #92 are also by puckett until dixon takes over for #93, so read those if you dont mind just stopping in the middle of an arc, otherwise avoid.

now this next rec IS 1/3 written by dixon but if you can get through it, the crossover connor has with wally and kyle is enjoyable, thats Green Lantern Vol. 3 #96, GA Vol. 2 #130, and The Flash Vol. 2 #135

Connor's JLA run! JLA Vol. 1 #8-#15, #8 and #9 are specifically about connor saving and joining the league, the rest of the issues just feature him in a team setting, as, well, its the league.

if you want to read mia as well, read Green Arrow: Quiver (GA Vol. 3 #1-#10), Connor plays an important role but its almost entirely in the very last issue, and it's more about Ollie's role dynamic with him than anything else, so just read that if it tickles your fancy.

I wish i could recommend more of GA Vol. 3 for connor, unfortunately he's pretty fucking sidelined, and for every good moment theres 2 bad ones. (immediately after quiver he is shot and put in a coma for an arc, somehow this isnt the last time this happens.) Though i do recommend #11, and i think #21 is a good issue to read for ollie and him, but it also includes a pretty huge retcon to Connor and Ollie's past

Other than those, he has One-shots in Green Arrow 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular: "One", DC Pride 2022: "Think Of Me", and DC Festival of Heroes: The Asian Superhero Celebration: "Hawke & Kong"

as for Emi, your best bets are Green Arrow Vol. 5 #18-#20, #22, #28-#34 for her origin (though read N52 green arrow at your own risk, even i havent properly read these), Green Arrow Vol. 6 #1-#7 (this may feel like a completely new character, i'm sorry, dc has a angsty characterisation problem, if you enjoy either of these characterisations, i'd recommend you keep reading said runs past my specific recs for more issues with her!) and Stargirl Spring Break Special + Stargirl: The Lost Children #1-#6

fifth is shared by @sourstars bc if nikki jie was brilliant at weaving imagery throughout her multichapter fics, pandora is incredible at jampacking her metaphors into shorter pieces without losing any of the emotional impact

hi, i have some bad news.

I've realized that I havent been posting or updating as much and i know why; im falling out of the DSMP and currently no longer have the motivation or the feel to write about them unless im bored, and instead ive started to join other fandoms (anime, your boyfriend, etc) which is practically taking over my liking of the dsmp (that doesn't mean i dont like the dsmp, im just not as fond of it anymore).

Due to this, ive decided im going to make a new account where instead i can write and post about my other fandoms, which i will soon add here when my account is fully ready and set up.

I understand that I haven't been writing for a very long time. which is... not surprising in my defense. Ive been in the dsmp for way longer than i have been writing so its no surprise that im falling out of it before ive even really gotten far on my blog.

this doesnt mean that im going fully inactive, i might drop by a couple greetings and updates, and if i ever feel like it maybe a couple fics every now and again.

im sorry to those of you who sent requests and i never posted them -- ive been very overwhelmed lately which makes it hard for me to ever want to really do anything in general.

I dont necessarily feel like i really need a masterlist because i havent been writing for very long so i dont have much (and my links arent working for some reason but i'll figure it out when i can) but ill be sure to keep it posted on my blog.

Take lots of rest coz your body needs rest to heal (try to sleep if you get time) and drink lots of water

And I dont know what symptoms you have but i'm just going to assume it was similar to how it was for me

You might feel wierd and your throat might hurt while swallowing but you still have to try and eat

Try drinking warm water, that helps a lot tbh

Take steam? Idk what else to call it but you probably know what i mean

And don't forget to take your medicines, you'll feel a lot better after you take them

My grandma also made us try a lot of wierd home remedies, but idk how much they worked so i'll leave that out of this lol

it means gold in tamil and is something my mother calls me often. it’s sweet and it has personal significance so i figured i wouldnt outgrow it or something if i changed fandoms/hyperfixations. also its cute! i wanted just plain ol’ thangam but that was taken so i just put an x in there lol

i liked the colors? i changed the whole theme of my blog to oranges and yellows to match the pfp and the header was with pretty colors and matched the rest of my blog. so.

Ah, that doesn’t cause problem at all! Sssvitlans was the url of a CC finds blog for TS2, TS3, and TS4. There wasn’t anything wrong with that blog, and it was really useful and I think I can speak for most simmers when I say I used it regularly to find CC, new and old, because it was very well organized.

I’ll put the rest under a read more, this got longer than I thought!

Now, as for what’s going on... A while back, this blog stopped updating, and I don’t recall exactly the timing of things, but I remember the person behind the blog - Lana - stated they were feeling burnt out. Which is, of course, very understandable giving the dimensions of the blog, and how it gathered CC from pratically all games.

I think most people understood that, so they took it upon themselves to make new CC finds blogs, using a similar tag system to sssvitlans, so people could still find CC without having to put the CC finding burden on the person behind that blog. 

But, even though these new blogs were created to relief their workload... Lana accused them of copying her blog, and let’s say this wasn’t a good move. Lana must have had tons of followers, so she knew she was basically encouranging a lot of people to either harrass these new blogs, or simply report them over... tags. Personally, I thought this was a really bad move on her part, when people were trying to help her, since her CC finds blog was giving her that much grief.

The new CC blogs stopped, because they were sick of the accusations, of course. 

After this, she just... disappeared. The blog was left stagnant for a very long time, no updates whatsoever. Lana doesn’t owe us updates, that is fine, we weren’t asking her to update her blog forever. But she could have let the other new blogs use the same tag system she does, she doesn’t own it.

Days ago, sssvitlans was deleted. This means a lot of CC was lost because the links were only found in that blog, since the original blogs where that CC was posted were gone. This upset a lot of people.

I’ve seen people saying it was tumblr who did it. I don’t agree, and here’s why.

Sssvitlans wasn’t marked as adult content. How do I know this? Blogs marked as adult content don’t have a profile picture - their profile pictures are removed and they’re given a blurred out default picture, they ONLY show up in your dashboard, and when you try to visit one of those blogs you will get the warning “this is an adult marked blog, are you sure you want to proceed?”.

I know this because I’ve seen other simblrs marked as adult content, as well as my own blog. To revert this you can appeal to tumblr to remove the adult marking, and if they see your blog is safe, then it will be unmarked and it will return to normal. Even if sssvitlans was marked as adult at some point, it wasn’t by the time it was deleted.

Also no, tumblr does not delete inactive blogs after 24 months. This simblr was gone somewhere around 2018, and posted again in 2020, according to the last update. Between 2018 and 2020 this blog was not deleted due to inactivity, debunking that immediately.

Tumblr had no reason to delete her blog, and I know we love to gang up on tumblr staff, but this time I don’t think it’s anything to do with them. Plus Lana herself had mused about deleting her blog, around the time she confessed she was burnt out.

So either some freak accident happened, or Lana deleted her own blog. We are upset because the blog wasn’t doing her any harm by staying up, and NO ONE asked her to come back or update. We were fine having an inactive blog, we could still access to older CC.

That CC is now gone, and this is why we’re upset. I’m sorry this was so lenghty, I wanted to explain everything as best as I could.
