Been super busy lately but here’s two SDR2 thoughts I’ve been trying to flesh out

Mahiru would not blame Peko for her death. The blame would fall squarely on Fuyuhiko’s shoulders.

Based off the fact that in her backstory, her mom would leave Mahiru with her neglectful dad. Mahiru never blamed her mom because she had a job to do, but the dad was a deadbeat who shirked on his responsibilities.

In the same vein, Peko was only doing her job and Fuyuhiko is the villian for driving Peko into it.

Mahiru would only see Peko as a victim and whilst Mahiru think she’s being kind, she’s actually being cruel by erasing Peko’s autonomy in the situation (thus simplifying Peko as just a tool).

Overall, I think Mahiru and Peko would have a hard time seeing eye to eye on a male’s role. Mahiru, who has her own standards of an ideal man. Peko, who had to watch Fuyuhiko suffer great expectations forced upon him.

Side tangent: It’s incredibly fucked up that Mahiru is the most down to earth girl in the class, and she’s the only victim that someone wanted dead with malicious intent. Teruteru killed Imposter by accident. Mikan suffered the despair disease. Gundham and Nekomaru had an agreement. Chiaki didn’t have a choice. Imagine being the most normal girl and you’re the only one on the island who someone wanted truly dead.

The class 77 boys as Fuyuhiko’s wingman

Imagine in a regular classroom setting, Fuyuhiko glances over at Peko every so often to make sure she’s fitting in well. Nagito clocks it and jump to conclusion that Fuyuhiko has a crush on Peko. The boys all decide to help Fuyuhiko profess his love. Fuyuhiko denies it at first but without a better excuse he goes with their plan.

Teruteru tries to help Fuyuhiko with conversation starts but it all ends in profanity somehow.

Gundham suggest if Fuyuhiko cannot say what he feels, HE MUST DANCE. LIKE THE MAJESTIC PEACOCK. Kazuichi has a disco suit that Fuyuhiko can borrow (Don’t ask).

Peko walks in on the boys teaching Fuyuhiko how to be funky fresh. She gives a hearty chuckle with the cutest smile. Kazuichi and Teruteru both decides to profess their love instead.

the steven universe hate is insane bc people are (or at least were) more upset that fictional war criminals got fictional hugs than they recognize that it singlehandedly advanced queer rep in children's media by lightyears and then straight up ate heavy retaliation for the nerve.

It does have real flaws that are worth discussing, but it also put their male protagonist in dresses and skirts and played it straight and even empowering, they aired a lesbian wedding on television, it was a genuinely queer, genuinely diverse piece of media through and through. It did a lot of real good for the real world.

But also the fictional characters caused fictional harm to other fictional characters, and didn't get an onscreen firing squad sentence. So, you know, it's basically ontologically evil in real life.

like yeah. at certain ages... let shit go. im not defending the real immature shit. im not defending the karen you're picturing. i worked in retail i hate those people too. (once somebody got mad at me because she didn't like how our winter window decor was a snowman smoking a pipe. i wish i was joking).

but men at 57 will write books about how 17 year old girls are soooo sexy. they will invent worlds where women have to be naked for "armor reasons." they will write songs that treat women as objects. people rush to defend them. meanwhile a woman at 35 will be like "heartbreak is hard, actually" or "i feel betrayed by a friend" or "i am struggling with something emotionally." immediately people will say stuff like this woman is 35 by the way. by the way this woman is SO OLD to be experiencing this. BY THE WAY.

im 31, almost 32. the other day a poet was blasted online because at her "big age", she had written a poem about feeling unloved. top comment was "this woman is 29 by the way." this woman is too old to still be useful, by the way. she has to behave better . maybe if she was a good wife and mother she could stop existing loudly, and the story could continue on without her. this woman has served her purpose, by the way. she's so cringe, by the way. at 29 - so old! - she still hasn't figured out that her existence should be one of shame.
