I won’t lie, saw your post about how things are scary rn in the U.S. and… idrk what’s going on. Been avoiding it like the plague bc i’m afraid of the information i’m currently ignorant to. As someone who dwells on “what ifs” it scares me to know what is going on but at the same time i wanna know what’s happening since i live in the U.S too. Just wanted to share this. I feel bad bc of the fact that i been ignoring it, so i do wanna know what’s going on. I just want someone to tell it to me in a way that doesn’t feel like i’m being attacked for avoiding it bc i’m too afraid to learn the information by myself. But there may be some people like me out there.

Hi there, that's absolutely valid, it's been a bit of a mess and some miscommunications have occurred already (as typical always every 4 years here) and wanting to avoid all of it isn't unreasonable. Acknowledging but avoiding a subject is completely different than denial, and that's totally okay, I don't judge. I'll do my best to explain in a way that makes sense and that's hopefully helpful

Before anything else, let me preface this by saying that I am NOT a political scientist, I am NOT an expert in anyway regarding politics in the slightest, anything that I share below is based on my personal experience and research so please keep that in mind, I highly encourage you to check out the sources below for any further information. Having said that, here's what we know:

According to The Associated Press, and other news outlets, the current president elect is Donald Trump with 292 of the electoral college votes, races have not been called in AZ, NV, ME and AK.

Harris is set to give a concession speech at 4 pm EST today.

Republicans have control of the senate with 52 seats, with democrats having lost 3 seats and currently have 43. 5 remaining races have yet to be called. Currently, they are projected to be filled by Democrats by Associated Press and 270 to Win.

The house is currently still a toss up, 270 to Win projects 209 (D) to 213 (R) for 20 of the remaining 33 uncalled races. Again, 13 races are still a toss-up at this point in time.

If you would like more information regarding live coverage, as well as general, unbiased reporting, Associated Press is (in my opinion) the most accurate and unbiased source of information.

If you would like to see current projections for the remaining races, Associated Press and 270 to win appear (emphasis on appear) to have the most accurate reporting.

If you want to see live coverage and discussion, or to see how things unfolded last night, CNN did have a broadcast going last night that was free to watch. It appears they've now taken it down. If I happen to find said broadcast I'll update the post with it as they do a good job of explaining things state by state, precint by precint. However, much like any other media outlet, they can be prone to bias (left-leaning) and potentially to fear mongering. Should you seek out CNN or any other news outlet besides those above please keep in mind that reporting may be influenced in certain ways because of this.

Having said all that, here's what I personally think this means and what can still happen, with facts mixed in for reference. Much of this is my opinion and should not be taken as fact unless it's cited. Again, not an expert, just someone with a very very basic understanding of politics and government.

With the win of the presidency and the senate, republicans are at the advantage. With senate control they will be able to assist with choosing the next presidental cabinet, and should there be a vacancy on the supreme court, assist with that.

However, if democrats can take control of the house, the win will be massive, and leave them able to have some say in the next 4 years, but nothing is for certain at this point in time

Democrats potentially have at least a little breathing room in the senate, they're not majority, but only 4 seats difference is better than nothing

We've gotten through a Trump presidency before, the situation then, as well as the feeling everyone has now is exactly the same. We made it through then, and we can make it through again

The senate is only guaranteed to be controlled by Republicans until the 2026 midterms, two years is a long time, but it's only two years

Having lived through the last Trump term in my teens and remember it well, yes he managed to do some pretty awful things, but he also undelivered in several ways, we can only hope the same thing happens this time around, this would be especially true should democrats take the House

He won't be back, if he makes it through the term he'll be too old and his health won't be great. Republicans didn't want him this time, they won't want him the next.

JD Vance and so many others will still be kicking long after he's gone though, and that needs to be in the back of people's heads when we get closer to 2028

Trump made a lot of empty promises he didn't keep before, and personally I don't think he beleves half the things he says, he just says it because he knows others do believe it. Giving up hope now for a better tomorrow won't make a better tomorrow, hoping despite it all will. Giving up also gives people like him exactly what they want, and I'm not about to do that, neither should you.

For now, be vigilant, stay safe, but try to relax. Doom-scrolling, wondering what might happen, and so on, is pointless because at this point, we don't know. Anything could happen, this election is a clear example of that.

Since you ask in good faith I'll give you a good faith answer.

M-spec doesn't mean "masculine presenting" it means your attraction is in the masculine spectrum of the gender spectrum, so men and male aligned-NB people (non-binary is not a third gender, it's a collection of every gender that I'd neither 100% woman or 100% man)

Butches tend to present masculine, this doesn't make them men.

A lesbian is a woman or woman-aligned NB person who is attracted to the same gender. That is, other women and woman aligned NB people.

The problem with m-spec and bi "lesbians" is that they're not lesbians at all, they're bi or pan people most of the time who are attracted to men but try to usurp the lesbian label and turn it into a synonym for sapphic or woman-loving-woman.

Lesbianism is the only sexuality that excludes men, both as targets of attraction and emitters of that attraction. Therefore we are being shamed into being attracted to men by this group of people. Hell, they even try to take the reclaimed d-slur.

It's an act of lesbophobia, homophobia (two different kinds of oppression btw) biphobia (bi and pan people have a history of fighting for their own label and protested against being called gays or lesbians) and transphobia since many of m-spec 'lesbians' and their supporters are trans men who claim they have a connection to womanhood by having the "right parts" which isn't true in the slightest and also hurts trans women, many of whom are lesbians as well.

Even misogyny, since m-spec and bi 'lesbians' can't stand the fact that we don't need men in our lives and that bothers them since in their mind everyone needs to center men in their lives.

Would you see gay men being told to include women in their sexuality? No, right? It's the misogyny as well.

Most bi 'lesbians' and their supporters also happen to be white, shielding themselves with their privilege.

To sum it up: m-spec 'lesbians' aren't butches or lesbians at all, they're bi and pan people who disregard their own history and struggle to try and steal our label from us, inspired by homophobia, biphobia, lesbophobia, misogyny and transphobia. They'll call us TERFs (many of us are trans women mind you) while employing TERF points themselves like with the trans man argument.

The Life Series and Eyes (A Headcanon Rambling)

hello traffiblr! Y'all voted to have me rant about the life series and my personal headcanons regarding eyes, so. Here we go!

Overview

So let me hit you guys with a quick overview.

here's a quick reference. While these all depend on the individual, and the series, I'll explain what each general eye color means.

4+ Lives

People with 4+ lives fall into this category. Their eyes are a dark green, bordering on teal. I think it would be interesting if A. eyes act as a sort of weak gradient in terms of 4-1 lives. So, there's a bit more blue. 2. Personal headcanons regarding speakers, and their colors. 3. A sort of parallel to the Boogey eyes. both are very dark. So its harder to tell if they have 4+ lives somehow, or if they're boogey.

3 Lives

A classic. A nice, simple green. While the exact hue varies depending on the person (because of either violent or peaceful behavior/simply what looks good with them), greens have generally bright green eyes.

2 Lives

Similarly to 3, the exact hue depends on behavior of the individual. Someone who's more violent would be closer to an amber, while peace loving players lean towards more of a yellow-green. The eyes are always clearly yellow, though.

1 Life

While the others would go towards a color dependent on behavior, all bets are called off for reds. The hue is purely aesthetic. It is no longer a clue towards general behavior. There's rarely any allowance for personal preferences in reds. All they can see is violence and conquest.

Boogey

Basically, I reject the idea of boogies having purple eyes or glints for symbolism with watchers. It's far more threatening to me if their normally bright colored eyes are chips of the void. Obviously, characters still have pupils, I just don't include them in my style. I can't decide if Boogies have pure black eyes, or if their eyes are a dried-blood color so dark it only seems reddish in light.

0 Lives / Dead

And finally, we have grey eyes. When it comes to deaths before the final death, the bodies disappear quickly, as soon as the person respawns, I'd wager. But after that final death, their body remains. Their eyes quickly lose all color, and end up as grey. This was chosen just out of design choice, the lifeless look, and also, by incident, Scar's red-life skin. It makes him completely greyscale, so a similar logic applies here.

Character Specific Colors

Here's a quick guide to character specific colors. Again, everyone has a unique one. Do note that most of these are simply what looks good, as I've only had the time to watch Grian's pov, and not anyone elses.

Ik they don't really... look good and may not fit, but hey, I'm here to rant about design ideas, not actual colors lol. And you will not believe how hard it is to make 16 different palletes unique and at least kinda match the character while having the same main 4 colors. I will address Grian, dw. Boogey and dead eyes are the same color, regardless of character.

3rd Life

Alright, so, from the base rules, nothing changes. It uses the same logic mentioned up above. Green, yellow, red, and grey. There's no real special mentions here that are exclusive to 3L.

Last Life

Similarly to 3L, LL lacks any specific changes to eyes. The only addition are the new eye colors for boogey and 4+.

Double Life

Here, characters share eye colors. What do I mean by this? I mean, their signature eye colors are at a gradient with their soulmate's. So, for example, Pearl and Scott's Green eyes are mixed as a gradient with both are on green. This applies for every life, and every soulbond. It gives people slight clues as to who exactly their soulmate is, but its hard to tell. When scar showed up boasting purple eyes, everyone was confused, to say the least lmao.

Limited Life

ok i'm definitely the happiest with this one. The idea is that everyone's eyes are functionally, like a clock. I illustrated it really badly, but the idea is cool ok. The idea is that like, idk, every 1/8 of someone's eye represents an hour. Every hour lost from the 'benchmark' turns to the next color. For example, if someone has 24 hours, their eyes are pure green. If they have, say, 18, they only have 1/4 (2/8) of green left, the rest of their eye being green. If they have only an hour left, they only have an 1/8 of an eye red, the rest being grey. The color of their current life slowly recedes in an almost spiral pattern as time goes on. If someone somehow had 24+ hours, same rule would apply to their 4+ life, so to speak. they'd only have a sliver of the dark green, with most of their eye being their 'normal' green.

Grian

okay, I know for sure people are questioning why Grian's eyes are neon purple. The reason why is on the simpler side. Watcher. He's the only one out of the players to be an actual watcher. Some people (like Pearl and BigB) definitely have some ties to them, but Grian's the only full blown watcher. (Martyn is tied to the listeners, who are green to me, so his colors are greener despite being prone to violence lmao. And Scott is tied more to the Speakers, who are blueish/cyan to me. Pearl, as Scott's soulmate in DL, has that bluish tint to a degree. )

But, you might ask, how do people not notice??? Well, its because of my Grian design.

This is old and it doesn't quite show my idea well, but alas.

I've already made reference images for this and I can't find the motive to draw a Grian headshot lmao. The idea is taking the Watcher's face plate. You know the one. The mask. And taking that, and instead of having the Evo symbol, no, it has, guess what. Grian's weird freaking eyes. Yep. Whether this was his attempt at camouflaging himself among non-watchers, or if it was his basically middle finger towards them, refusing to show obvious alliance with them, idk. All I know is he basically vandalized his Watcher mask. Still, you might say, that doesn't explain why is eye color is purple. Well, if you take away his mask, it's either basically a void with purple eyes inside, or probably some sort of void looking crack through his face, as if it isn't actually flesh. He can choose to have 'normal' eyes, but they always remain that Alexandria's Genesis purple, and it messes with his sight. Basically he sees too much. (I'd elaborate in my Watcher/Listener/Speaker post if people wanted 👀)

Dear Sephiroth: (a letter to a fictional character, because why not) #325

I'm definitely going to need to send my laptop away to get the screen replaced; it has seen much better days:

It's still kinda holding together. But there are lines of dead pixels on the bottom left side, so I imagine it's only a matter of time before the screen goes completely kaput. Lame...

I wasn't nearly as productive today as on previous days. I think doing all that cooking and all those dishes really pissed off whatever's wrong with the upper right quadrant of my body (at this point, I suspect serratus posterior superior dysfunction of some kind...). When I went to PT today (weird day of the week for it, I know...), the trapezius and the rhomboids on my right side got mashed up, and now the whole area is super pissed, and it's kinda hard to move or breathe or do anything.

On the bright side, I did get to talk with that Canadian immigration lawyer today. I'll tell you all about him, but after I get his permission to do so in this space.

Still, I have the first few steps of the process of getting out of here outlined. First, we have to take an English test called an IELTS, and also get our academic credentials evaluated by a Canadian company of some kind, in order to make sure they're up to snuff for Canadian employers.

Well, as it turns out, we cannot take the IELTS without passports. And, though J and I have ours, M's expired over a decade ago, so we had to go to an appointment to get a new one. It's not going to get to our house for another 6-8 weeks, though. We'll have to wait before we schedule the test. But we should be able to get our academic credentials evaluated. I'll look into that process tomorrow.

...I forgot to eat for most of today. Before leaving for physical therapy, I did stuff a couple slices of cold cuts into my mouth, but that's hardly substantial. My appetite has been kinda weird these last couple days. At around 7pm or 8pm, though, I remembered that my body needs fuel. So I made a salad:

It's got mixed greens, tomatoes, onions, black beans, goat cheese, scrambled egg, and crushed Fritos in it. And then I put ranch dressing on top. Want some...?

...I spent most of the rest of today just floundering, partially numb, and foggy of brain. I wanted to play Oddworld, but... I just couldn't bring myself to. I wanted to doodle, but... I dunno. Even with a plan spelled out and things to tentatively look forward to, it's still kinda hard to think.

I guess I'm still a little sad that so many people voted for someone who wants to kill me and my little family and almost all of the people I love.

...I just... want to live a life in which everyone gets to be happy and safe. And I know that this could happen if everyone worked together, but there's so many different people with so many different kinds of trauma, and all of them have their own ideas about which kinds of people do and don't deserve to live (there's no such thing as a person who doesn't deserve to live). I wish for a world in which it was easier for folks to cast aside the conditioning they received that teaches them to associate the worth of themselves and of others with silly, arbitrary things.

We are all the same in that we want to live in peace with people we love. And given that everyone wants that, it shouldn't be so hard to do, but... a lot of people get taught that the only way they can live happily is if some other group of people defined by arbitrary characteristics didn't exist, and... I think that's really sad. It's really sad that some people truly do believe, for example, that the only way they can be happy and safe is if every single person with dark skin and every single person who was ever at any point related to someone with dark skin ceased being alive.

...I just wanna live someplace where we aren't near people who would be happy to kill us. I think everyone wants that. And this shouldn't be a difficult thing to find in my world, but... here we are.

...Well. One step at a time. We'll follow the immigration process one step at a time, and hope for good things. But... ya know. If there's any chance you can just “zoop” us all over to where you are... I certainly wouldn't be opposed. You could use the company. And I could use a nap.

No, I know; it's impossible. I know. But it's still nice to think about. I'll just keep making preparations to protect my little family, and I'll do whatever I can for the others around me in the meantime. I'll write the steps to the immigration process as we go through it; maybe it'll help someone else, somehow.

Suppose I'll stop writing for today. I feel like if I keep going, I'm gonna ramble on ya (if I haven't already). And I feel like I'm a bit too weird in the brain right now to express myself particularly well in any case.

Don't worry. I'm tired and feeling kinda sad and lost, but I'm not down for the count – not while I have people to protect.

Tomorrow is when M and I decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary this year. It'll be our 10th year of marriage, though we've been together for 12. I can't believe how quickly the time has passed. I can't believe he hasn't gotten tired of me yet, hahaha...

We're gonna go to a sushi place to celebrate. It'll be me and J and M all together at the place we ate on the day we got married. Maybe I'll tell you more about that tomorrow.

Man, witchtok and witchbook sure do love the narrative that Christianity stole everything from them, huh?

So I see that you asked a mutual of mine the same question, while also asking what can be done about this problem. Since said mutual suggested that you come to me for advice here, that's what I'll post.

First of all, understand that this is nothing new. this has always been a popular narrative among neopagans, because it gives people a narrative in which they can frame and talk about their grievances with society. "The Catholic Church stole Christmas" isn't factually true, but it's easier to learn and spread than advanced socioeconomics. People believing this stuff is not a personal failing. It's a consequence of systemic failure. We live in an information crisis, with conservatives effectively sabotaging education at every turn and algorithmic feeds designed to serve up whatever will get the most clicks, not what's most accurate.

The problem, therefore, must be addressed systemically. This means participating in politics, voting on whatever elections you can vote on, spreading relative political news, whatever. Do whatever you can do keep the GOP out of power or from gaining more power. Get involved in political activism circles if you aren't already.

You can also put out your own information to counter the misinformation, and boost or promote good info. Work with the limitations of social media - short, memeable content is always more likely to spread.

When you catch yourself wanting to complain about something you hate, try to find a way to transform it into praise for something you love. Like instead of complaining about people who post misinformation about the goddess Aphrodite, find some cool facts about Aphrodite to post instead.

When you're creating educational content of any kind, follow this very simple guideline: don't shit on the dinner table. That is, don't mix big ranting gripes in with content meant to educate the masses. If you got a big gripe to get out of your system, put that gripe in its own space.

When you do have to address incorrect beliefs specifically, try to avoid shaming believers, because not only does it not work, it's just unnecessary cruelty. Nobody misinforms themselves on purpose. Nobody wants to be a bad person. What we have are a lot of people suffering from systemic fuckery and just want to not feel sad, scared, and helpless, because feeling that way hurts.

(This post is an example of how I took something frustrating and put a positive spin on it. I wrote it when I was feeling pissy about the kinds of problems you mention in your message.)

Prepare to deal with the same misinformation a lot. Like not just intellectually and emotionally, but physically - create FAQs, masterposts, whatever. It can get really frustrating trying to deal with that stuff a million times, but the reality is that there are billions of people in the world and they're making new ones every day.

Keep a list of resources on hand that you can share with people you're talking to, depending on what they're searching for. The fewer steps/resources that are needed to access said resource, the better. Keep a list of podcasts, scholars with YouTube channels, blogs with good information, whatever, that you can just suggest to people looking for info.

And finally, take care of yourself. If you find yourself wanting to rip people's throats out or something, it's time to take a break and focus on yourself.

for the statecraft/political thing, im trying to figure out the semantics of a government with shapeshifters in it, they naturally have lots of different body types but also odd disabilities that need to be accounted for like inability to shift/fly/magic illnesses etc. As far as i have its just that most of the power is with the citizens but they do have a figurehead ruler that tries to deal with other systemic conflicts imbalances and issues with immigration (as little as there is bc you need magic to get in), asylum, and healthare stuff. Theyre kinda smaller scale than usual after a big war made a lot of lives lost and scattered and theres someone that is supposed to be the rulers right hand specifically so if the ruler is unfair they can be killed and selection begins again. Most of the city is laid out around a round central square and is roundly shaped in general but im thinking that other nearby towns would be shaped differently based on the occupants veiws and magic abilities. This particular city is mainly focused on community, but still has poorer sections where people are less magically inclined and those sections tend to fall into disrepair. If you got snything at all, critique or addittion, city plans or politics, its much appreciated and i hope you have fun!!

Alright!! It seems like you're dealing with an elective monarchy that is coadivated with some sort of public assembly or council. This is a mixed type of Government, and it's a nice one. I'll leave some consideration and some questions that you could consider to further the system under the cut ^^

The ruler has power only over a specific set of issues - all of which from what you've said seem to me to fall into Domestic/Internal Social Politics. And I'm assuming all that the ruler does not decide is then handed to the citizens, again, from what you've said. I'd say to narrow down what exactly is competence of the monarch and what is of the democracy - does the ruler choose on wars, do they rule the army, or are those decisions of politica estera left to the democracy?

The ruler isn't in a hereditary position! Fascinating. This combined with the specificity of their duties would make me think that this role would ideally be taken by someone who's specialised in the field… you could either make this position elective, with candidates coming either from the general public or some sort of nobility group (families with a lot of wealth and power, of that have had a lot of governmental roles in the past, that sort of thing), or you could make it selective and make it be chosen by some sort of group - Depends on how democratic you'd like to make this: before hereditary positions were the norm, kings were chosen by the upper class from the upper class, so you could go with a similar set-up.

Is the right-hand able to take any decisions, or are they only there to act as a check? Are they also elected, and if so, is it in the same way as the king? Does the right-hand change after the king is killed, or does it stay the same person? It reminded me a bit of the consul system in Rome, so maybe looking into that might help.

If every other decision is taking by the citizens, you do have to figure out how exactly that happens, too Is there a popular assembly of every single citizen voting and debating and proposing decisions? That works in small settlements, but you seem to be working with a multi-city state. There are a couple of ways to go about it, I can suggest either to divide the territory in electoral colleges - by geography, by class, by census… anything, really - and have voting happen per-college to reach a final consensus (like the roman republic did with centurie/curie/tribù), or to have each place elect a rappresentative that can then go to some other collegial organ where the decisions happen.

Are there smaller decisional organs, like city councils, to decide on smaller matters that only pertain to a certain place? Can anyone propose something to decide on, or just some group/s? Does your country have a legal system? If so, are there laws that only the ruler can make, or are they within the realms of the democratic system? What's the justice system like? Is the ruler also the highest judge, like in medieval monarchies, or is that system completely different?

Who is in charge of the execution of the decisions? Is there a burocratic system of government workers?

Are there associations of traders in the same field who decide the inner regulations of that type of work (think le Arti in italian medieval times) or is that left to the government? If so, to which half of it?

This system sounds really cool! Hope all my questions can help you figure it out a bit more, remember that if you're writing a story you don't need to have all this figured out! Just the parts that matter for the story to make logical sense. Like, if you never touch on commerce or on the justice system you can leave that out completely. !! thanks for letting me play in this space I'd suggest you to look up the two or so different irl systems I mentioned for inspiration

He's a blacksmith who's specialty is easily concealed weapons. His wife is Valenwe and his daughters are Kiana and Eivina. I'll think up more stuff for them eventually. Cirdur is very well read and enjoys history specifically from a weapons/military perspective. He's the guy explaining random wars and how the technology of the time affected them. That's him.

The second oldest is Sarusara, and they ARE a part of the Thalmor, similarly to their father. They're 86, married to a man named Valion and the two of them don't have any kids. Sarusara is a scout/spy, so for the most part, they're away from home.

Connelsewen (usually just called Connie) is the third child. She's 53, and currently a student for a philosopher in High Rock. She likes small animals and is the person who's got a new pet every time they encounter any animal anywhere. She's also a healer by trade and has above average skills in Restoration and also a larger pool of magicka. She's in a wheelchair created by her brother after losing use of her legs in an accident involving airships.

Nurome is 37 and the youngest of her mother's children. She works for the Thalmor domestically, though it's more of an office job than combat, which she has mixed feelings on. She has one son, named Faniel, who's around 9 years old. She also works with Cirdur when she can at his forge or with his family.

Carnil is Iriae's father. He's 250, and a Thalmor justiciar who was stationed mainly in Cyrodiil during the Great War. At the end of his campaign, he was in Bruma, which is where he encountered Viatrix, who he later had an affair with, that ended up producing Iriae. He's a mage who favors Destruction and Alteration. He's in that weird spot of having the opportunity to retire but preferring not to. That'll be important eventually.

Tersse (this is pronounced Tare-see) is the wife of Carnil and 236. She's a healer like her daughter and has worked as such for over a century, she's very good at her craft. She doesn't like Iriae, mostly because she was an affair child, with the imperial blood as a close second. She voted to do the whole "they abandon the kids if they have deformities" thing (cause that's a thing in Altmer society because fucking eugenics) but Carnil refused. Something something "it's a worse evil to kill a child" etc. So they just. Shunned her! Yippeen't!

Viatrix was Iriae's mother, and she met Carnil when she was 18 or 19. She had grown up in Bruma her whole life, and was really sort of captivated by this man who was willing to tell her about other places. The affair started when she was 20 and she died due to complications postpartum 6 months after her daughter was born. Her dying wish was that her daughter be taken care of. She was like 22.

Being a firm believer in casuality and personal accountability is so funny when it comes to Milgram. Simply because I can go, "Oh, no, I know I'm being biased as well." Fully recognizing what my bias is rooted in and how sometimes it comes down to the reasoning people are coming up with to defend their vote. Not how much I like or dislike a character personally.

It's as simple as i don't like the logic being used to support this decision, and I disagree. Something I know may make it come off as more personal since it's interrogating the fandom response and the material at the same time. However, to me, that's what milgram is all about biases, and i can't get the full experience if I don't see or look away from those biases being put on full display so shamelessly.

Still, there are a lot of factors that play into my decisions on a verdict, but it's ultimately a very freeing experience overall. Since my decision can never simply be stated as one thing for me it's never I just dislike/like this character actually, or it has nothing to do with my feelings on the character I just disagree with how this character or their actions have been interpreted, I think this would be funny actually, I'm debating the narative implications, I flat out think what the character did was wrong etc. It's a mix of all those things, which are all valid reasons to vote.

Like, if I take a step back and ask, "Do I care about if any of the characters are innocent or guilty when it comes down to it?" The answer would be no every time. The only thing the verdict I choose to go with does is tell me more about the sort of person I am and what I'm willing to forgive or not.

If the overall verdict isn't the outcome I wanted I will simply wipe my hands and go, "Whatever happens due to this decision isn't my fault." Then if the choice I wanted does win out, I'll be like, yeah, I did that shit I'd do it again!

A conscience isn't a thing that should induce shame but prompt people to evaluate the decisions they made and why. This is why I'm looking forward to Amane so much because she's the only prisoner in trial two who can throw my verdict back in my face. This cycle of two-way punishment is something I've been waiting to get in on! Plus, Milgram has been oddly quiet about Amane and Mikoto, so I'm hoping they really make it sting.

Someone would be hard pressed to find any shame here when it comes to the choices I've made when regarding trial two. Because I know why I decided to vote the way I did, and that's all that matters to me. I hope that's the same for everyone else as well. Because living with regrets over what one should have done is a lot more difficult than looking back and going, "I did what I wanted to." Now, what will I do now that my desires received a response.

Get to Know My OC!

Remember when I did that interview for Elise, and I mentioned that I would do it for other characters as well? And then I did that poll for you guys to choose who should get an interview next?

It may not look like I remembered that, since it's been ages... but I do. And I'm going to finally be making good on that promise.

Well, the bonus option got the most votes, so today I'll be sharing an OC interview for a brand new character that I've never really mentioned before.

Meet Mackenna Sahara, the main character for my "Five Seconds Flat" series! I think I have at least mentioned this series before... it's the one inspired by the Lizzy McAlpine album.

She's a lot of fun. To give you a basic idea of what I'm trying to go for with her, she's like a mix of Stephanie and Elise from Steph's Crew. A smart and stellar student, but also very confident and feisty. But she's her own character as well - she has plenty of things that make her unique.

The door creaks open, and in walks 19-year-old Mackenna Sahara. She's an intriguing character with a poised posture, and an air of confidence mixed with a touch of mystique. She swiftly saunters into the room, her eyes shifting around the room (and not quite looking at me) as she slowly takes in her surroundings with a slightly raised eyebrow. She hasn't seemed to notice my presence yet...

Her striking appearance matches her personality - long, shiny, sleek jet-black hair cascading down her back, piercing dark eyes that seem to analyse everything, and a small, mischievous smile that hints at her quick wit. She stands at about 5'8", which only adds to her commanding presence.

She doesn't acknowledge me at all until I greet her, and when she does, she extends a hand. As we shake hands, I notice that her grip is rather firm, almost challenging.

1) Are you named after anyone?

Mack: Oh, darling... I'm far too unique to be named after someone else. Can you imagine me being named after anyone else? Preposterous! (laughs) I'm just playing with you! I have no clue where my name comes from. That being said, I like it quite a lot. I think it's cool, you know? It certainly sounds unique. I like to think that my name was carefully selected by my parents to match the brilliance and that enigmatic vibe that I inherently give off.

2) When was the last time you cried?

Mack: Cried? Me? (laughs) I like, never cry. Ever. Unless you count crying tears of boredom. That's me during every assembly I have at school, pretty much. (laughs again) Hmm. But if we're talking about legitimate crying, well, let me think. Oh, yes, it was last week! When I saw the price of a mega hot designer handbag. (sighs) I had my eye on it for months. My wallet cried for mercy and I had to join in.

Me: What?

Mack: What? Crying's contagious!

3) Do you have kids?

Mack: Oh, dear God, no! I'll leave the parenting to those brave enough to handle it. Leave me out of that narrative, please and thank you!

4) Do you use sarcasm?

Mack: (rolls her eyes) Dude, sarcasm is like a second language to me. I sprinkle it into conversations like confetti. It probably isn't necessary all the time, but I like it... it keeps things interesting. Like, if I didn't do it, every conversation I have would be as dull as a monotonous PowerPoint presentation. Or a school assembly.

5) What's the first thing you notice about people?

Mack: Oh, where do I begin? I notice quite a lot about people I meet in a short span of time. Ok, so I suppose the first thing I notice is their fashion sense. If they can't put together a decent outfit, it's like a red flag of incompetence. I don't mean to come off as overly superficial...

Me: Oh, no. You don't sound it at all...

Mack: But I personally believe that the way that you dress and the way you present yourself and carry yourself says a LOT about you as a person! I hate to say it, but I DO judge people based on their appearance. In fact, I believe that pretty much everybody does, whether they acknowledge it or not. But I think that's kind of what I notice first, in a nutshell. The way a person carries themselves. I mean, from outfits, I then move on to their posture, their body language, and the way they talk. I can tell a lot about a person from their demeanor. And, of course, their ability to keep up with my wit. If they can't match my level of banter, well, it's quite disappointing. And when I'm disappointed, I don't bother with that person any longer. They're dead to me. Which... now that I'm saying it aloud, could probably explain why I've been single for so damn long! (laughs) My standards are way too high.

6) What's your eye color?

Mack: Brown. Really dark brown... so dark that they almost look black. But I'm not going to say black, because I don't know whether that's even possible. I really like my eyes! The shape, the colour... everything. Plus, people often say that they're pretty.

7) Any special talents?

Mack: Special talents? Oh, I don't know... I'm kind of funny sometimes? People sometimes tell me that my repertoire of snarky comebacks could put any stand-up comedian to shame, so... Stand-up looks hard, though. Other than that, I can paint! And draw. I'm a pretty solid artist.

8) Scary movies or happy endings?

Mack: Happy ending, I guess. I mean, both options sound stupid - I like being surprised by an ending. But I don't do scary movies. I have no desire to subject myself to unnecessary terror and jump scares. I much prefer a delightful romantic comedy with a predictable yet satisfying happy ending. Life is already filled with enough drama; I don't need to add ghosts and monsters into the mix.

9) Where were you born?

Mack: I was born on planet Krypton. (pauses) Joking. I was born in Wales, but I moved to London when I was two.

10) What are your hobbies?

Mack: You mean, aside from gracing the world with my presence? (laughs) Kidding, don't worry. Um... I already mentioned art, didn't I? Well, speaking of art, I also tend to dabble in the art of people-watching. There's nothing quite like observing the little absurdities and idiosyncrasies of everyday human behaviour. And, of course, reading. Fuels my insatiable thirst for knowledge and provides me with a vast arsenal of interesting crap to say in a conversation. Oh, and I also enjoy the occasional game of chess. Not that I'm any good, but still.

11) Do you have any pets?

Mack: Not at the moment, no. But perhaps one day, I'll stumble upon a feline or canine companion that I can stroke and snuggle and play around with.

12) What sports do you play/have played?

Mack: Sports? (laughs) Oh, dear, that's amusing. The closest I've come to playing a sport is watching Wimbledon on television while sipping an iced tea. I don't do sports!

13) How tall are you?

Mack: I stand tall and mighty at 5'8". It's that perfect height for intimidating those who dare challenge me.

Me: People challenge you?

Mack: Well, no. But I think I'm just one of those people that just takes up space, both physically and metaphorically. May as well embrace it.

14) Favorite subject in school?

Mack: Oh, school! I'm good at pretty much everything, but if I had to choose a favourite subject, it would be English Literature. The opportunity to dissect and criticize the works of renowned authors is just pure bliss for my judgmental soul.

15) Dream job?

Mack: My dream job, you ask? I'm not sure. I have a lot of dreams. I dream of being an actress. I dream of being an artist. I dream of being a businesswoman, or an entrepreneur of some kind... I even dream of being a teacher.

Me: Really? How interesting!

Mack: Yeah... I don't know, though. I lean more towards businesswoman most of the time, but it changes all the time.

Me: Well, I'm sure you'll figure yourself out eventually.

Mack: Me too. And no matter what I'll choose, I know I'm going to be good at it.

Me: I'm sure you will... anyway, we should wrap up now. This has been a delightfully entertaining interview. Thank you very much, Mack!

Mack: The pleasure was all yours, I'm sure. (laugh) I'm only joking! But seriously, thank you for having me. Later!

Results are in!! Vampire animal traits! You all unanimously voted together!

So you get animal traits! So I'll list off some of the traits I definitely give to N that can now be applied to the vampire drones. These will mostly be bird and bat traits.

Vampire traits below ⬇⬇⬇

❥ Vampires will have good hearing like bats!

Vampire drones won't need eyesight, you would be able to have a completely blind worker drone that uses sound like echolocation as a bat would! This can be both an advantage and disadvantage. If you're in an uncrowded it would be easy to target prey, but in a crowd of people or a crowded place it would be difficult for the vampire to be able to differ between what's human and what's robot.

This also leaves them vulnerable to loud noises such as school bells and alarms and easily irritates them.

❥ Vampire's having bad eyesight in bright areas.

Vampire's are already used to working in the dark, so when they're shoved into bright rooms or areas especially when they haven't been given time to adjust to their surroundings and are vulnerable when it comes to bright lights or flashes, temporarily blinding them.

For vampire's like V who need glasses but refuse to wear them, it gets especially bad and usually has to rely solely on echolocation because they simply cannot adjust to the light correctly.

❥ Vampire's love hanging upsidedown when they go into sleep mode!

The ceilings in the manor are usually adorned with one or more hooks per room, this way vampire's can use the hook on their tails to hook onto these hooks and secure them when they sleep upside down.

When there is no hooks available such as hanging upside down in a tree, if the branch is too thick for the vampire to safely wrap all the way around they can stab the hook much like a grappling hook into the trees wood with their sharp pointed hooked ends.

If the branch is easily hooked around the vampire can choose either to wrap the tail multiple times before safely hanging upside down, or they can loop their tail around and then hook themselves securely to their tail.

❥Vampire's gift things to people they like/are interested in. 💕

This is similar to how crows will gift you something once you help them. Vampire's if they like you or are greatful to you will gift you something, either something they caught like a worker drone part if they are giving to another vampire or something they think the other would like.

Using Nuzi as an example, N found out Uzi likes cats. So every time he sees her he gifts her something cat related, whether that be a book that has/is about cats, a plush, a beanie ect because that's N's love language he loves always getting something for Uzi when he sees her.

❥ Vamps give wings cuddles!!

Vampire's who are more of the friendly type like to not only hug and cuddle but like to include their wings in the mix. (Though they do love wrapping their wings around them selves in general, like when they're hanging upside like a bat.)

People they are very close to get the privilege of wing cuddling, for example due to how close N is with both Cyn and Uzi, whenever they get the opportunity to have some cuddle time N loves to keep them close by wrapping his wings around them, sometimes even when they fall asleep in cuddly positions as well.

❥ Vampire's love showing off their wings to potential mates.

Of course the most important trait is showing off to potential mates, making sure to both receive the praise they love to hear and also wooing over the girl. Though this of course isn't very common practice, lovable goofs with a similar personality to N have tried it. N has definitely tried it on V at least once or twice on separate occasions due to his feelings towards her, and not yet towards Uzi or any other potential mates.

firstly, please accept my humble apologies for the late-late answer to this!!! i got into a hyperfocus with an amv first things first, i'm pretty sure given the length of my ask your answer doesn't qualify as late. i'll take the dance though lol. also the amv is fantastic! meat loaf is one of my favourite artists and your editing is amazing. p.s. should you decide to do another meat loaf song at some point may i cast my vote for original sin? imo his best song and well. on the nose title is on the nose.

im firmly of the opinion that god in GO is omniscient, but strictly amoral. anything else has rather concerning implications i think. i mean, if it's all just god's plan then free will - which angels and demons do act as though they have - is fictitious and if she doesn't approve i'm not really sure how aziraphale and crowley are a) still alive and b) ever going to be able to have a happy ending because i don't think you can exactly defeat an omniscient omnipotent being.

especially if anyone subscribes to some variant of the scapegoat theory - that being crowley, aziraphale, lucifer, or any combination of them. i think i might just subscribe to every variant of this theory. including the possibility that some of the stuff you noticed is relevant not to the fall but to the modern day. really hoping something like this'll be true. (also really hoping for a pieta; those promo photos are ominous and they have me in a chokehold.)

now, i can see metatron's rationale going in two different directions (so far, and might be both or neither): this was definitely helpful for parsing my own thoughts on the metatron. i'd be inclined towards a mix of both but with the former weighing more heavily: less 'i follow what i think is god's plan and if it benefits me then that must be part of it without considering the subconscious influence of my desires' and more 'i do what i want and since i am an infallible vessel of god's plan my will must be hers'. i find that would make a more compelling villain but that's just me. i'm not exactly sure how and whether this fits with my fall theories though. i do think crowley's fall was something personal which makes me think whatever he did be it just asking the wrong questions or also finding the wrong answers - i prefer the latter because i'd love to see the forbidden knowledge thing pay off but i think the wrong questions are plenty dangerous enough for my speculation to still work - it threatened not just god's plan/authority but also specifically the metatron's. although this does open the question whether he sees taking over heaven as subverting god. you could probably make an argument that the two aren't necessarily equated. i'm still intrigued by the demons discussing the final victory of hell over heaven - and following the plan they believed to be god's to do so?!

hell are short-staffed - irrespective of why, we know this is an issue. which. how did that even happen? as of the airbase there are 10 million demons around according to beelzebub. assuming they're not lying what happened in the last four year to change that?

i think there's something there. something something if it happens twice it's an institutional problem. there can't be another rebellion because of what that would say about heaven so all issues are neatly swept under the rug before anyone finds out about them. crowley's extremely public execution vs aziraphale being quietly made to disappear. *

well, it's actually somewhat understandable how they regard aziraphale. it makes sense i'm just not sure it doesn't make it worse. harking back to what i said about the metatron antagonists who fully believe they're doing the right thing are chilling.

so, to watch as aziraphale presumably treads the same path must be terrifying, because of what it could precipitate. * sweeping issues under the rug before anyone finds out and the situation escalates.

all of this to say that i don't think it's inconclusive at this time to implicate the archangels in what, as the hypothesis above indicates, is entirely metatron's doing. i'm not sure what you mean with this sentence, sorry! would you mind clarifying? trying to give as vague a response as possible so it fits in any case: i don't think the archangels are completely innocent, but the metatron clearly outranks them and presumably has plans that they're not privy to.

bear in mind that despite the recent trial, uriel and michael don't even recognise metatron. which is distinctly odd. wonder if there's something going on there.

it might not necessarily change anything about the fall retrospectively, but it does inform on how they punish angels, that step out of line, in a post-fall era. those dynamics could also end up being relevant to season 3's plot it's just that i was trying - and let's be honest failing - to stay at least somewhat on track.

and in any case - im not convinced that either of them, or indeed anyone(?) fully remembers the fall. hmmmm. the metatron might have blurred everyone's memories a bit especially regarding the specifics of how falling worked, but you'd think if a full wipe happened to every single angel, fallen or not, there'd be more awareness of it as a phenomenon? based off dagon's rallying in season 1 the other demons do seem to recall fighting and aziraphale also remembers details from the war with the halo thing. while we get crowley quite specifically and directly emphathising with gabriel's situation there's no indication aziraphale relates in the same way. an institutional scale wipe makes sense from the metatron's perspective but i feel more like it's being set up more as a directly targeted at crowley thing - maybe aziraphale if that version of the scapegoat theory is true - which would fit with knowing something he shouldn't have, which is probably still my leading theory on why he fell. i think if the scapegoat theory shows up it's more likely to be in the form of how the narrative was framed afterwards and not with that being the actual reason for him falling. but i will fully admit that my speculating is heavily influenced by what i would like to be true and my brain sank its teeth into the thematic-ness of the angel who would become the serpent of eden falling for acquiring forbidden knowledge fall of man style and won't let go.

but i am still fairly convinced that crowley is going to own a lucifer-ish narrative as concerns his fall. fingers crossed that you're right! i want this so badly. although my ideal scenario if i'm not theorising but just going by what i'd find cool to see is that the lucifer-ish narrative is something that was at least partially imposed on him afterwards after he got mind-wiped to distract him from the real reason (see above, i'm trying not to repeat myself too much lol).

but i think he massively downplays his part. and if the memory loss theory is true, i really think that might be the reason why he does it. he can't consider that he might have done something a little bad because he's scared he did something that would horrify him *. brace yourself tangent incoming. i started thinking about whether you can exend that to the present day and i think you just might be able to. he's stuck in a very strange in between where he can't admit to any of his positive traits or softer emotions because hell would come for him but he also can't acknowledge his flaws because for all that's he's got plenty he's not bad or evil or whatever which is precisely why the thought that if he started digging into his flaws he might find out exactly that about himself terrifies him so much. he did something bad enough to warrant falling and apparently he himself was/is so bad he didn't even realise how bad it was (thank you job!) so if he starts with self examination what if it just keeps going and going and he finds out he's no better than hastur or ligur or dagon or any of the other demons he reports to who all delight in suffering. feeling sorry for him.

i think perhaps lucifer and the gang start to panic, panic at the concept of falling (regardless of who is dolling out the sentence, god or metatron), and they pin the blame on AWCW. i hadn't even considered that the scapegoat aspect might come from the rebels. i always figured that if such a narrative was implemented it was the archangels who did so. there's a post floating around talking about what happened that crowley stopped being friends with the other rebels and i don't think i like what i get when i put your and their ideas together. ouch.

but that would potentially be a big chunk of his character core that once realised could make a lot of things about him suddenly make sense. i mean you saw my ramble on the psychological ramifications of something like that in the lucifer theory interlude. how the fuck do you reconcile six millenia + however much 'time' elapsed between the fall and the beginning living with the knowledge that you're essentially the root of all evil and suffering in this universe? (* aka the even more painful alternative explanation for the downplaying.) if this is true i'm amazed he isn't more messed up. feeling even more sorry for him.

in terms of crowley's rank... sigh. i know i did argue for it in my last ask but honestly? i have pretty mixed feelings. if i'm trying to simplify them they mostly boil down to that i think there's a case to be made in either direction and that on the whole i can really take or leave the theory. high ranked characters who are nonetheless regarded as utterly irrelevant is a very specific dynamic that i really enjoy, i think at some point you move past red herring into 'well now you do have to deliver something' territory and there are some interesting character/narrative implications this opens up. on the other hand there are other character/narrative possibilities that would get shut down and i can offer a counter argument for all the hints. so. overall i think it's probably the theory that affects the circumstances of his fall the least. if he was an archangel then the metatron's disdain is because someone he disliked anyway nearly exposed him. if he wasn't then it's because some nobody nearly exposed him. he can still have been a threat without needing the clearance. the scapegoat theory isn't changed. like it works if he was an archangel but it also doesn't really matter all that much if he wasn't.

but my understanding is that a lot of his themes work with the concept of being "ordinary" which... this theory would arguably shoot out of the park i've seen a few people argue this and i have to say i disagree. his power is clearly tied to his imagination and not his rank so that wouldn't be affected. and so i personally feel it would actually reinforce the ordinariness. he protested the end date of the universe as a high ranking angel and achieved nothing beyond a sulfur bath for his troubles whereas as a demonic nobody he successfully helped avert the apocalypse. he accomplished things as someone ordinary that he didn't manage when he was still somebody.

we know that shax is not the sharpest of demons in this respect *snorts*

in which case, i personally think gabriel was just being sarcastic and childish, and simply reinstating "hey, im the top dog here, im the only one at my level, so what i say goes'. i mean you may very well be right. but, and maybe it's just because of the way it made me do the mental equivalent of slamming face first into a wall on my second rewatch, i can't shake the feeling that there's something going on with this line. of course the cut to crowley could just mean that he knows something to contradict it; not necessarily that he is the contradiction. (or it's just a very painful piece of foreshadowing that aziraphale's going to take the metatron's offer but i'm hoping there's more to it than that.)

there's a whole, obviously interesting, conversation missing there, and i dont think that's inconsequential... potentially. oooo i hadn't even gotten around to considering the potential content and consequences of that conversation yet. the whole thing felt oddly like there was some kind of history there to me. that doesn't have to mean he was an archangel but i did find it noticeable. did the circumstances surrounding his fall warrant the entire council of archangels getting involved as well as the metatron? could be a point in favour of the scapegoat theory and/or my forbidden knowledge thing.

so morning stars... might just be morning stars? probably lol. even in a show with as much to discover as good omens i'd imagine a good third of the things we find didn't actually mean anything deeper. so yes most likely answer. the more boring one too though. i will say that despite my suggesting the more literal meaning i'm pretty sure that if it does somehow end up pertaining to crowley then it's just metaphorical: a nod at a lucifer reminscent fall narrative. 🦭

p.s. you certainly didn't forget or ignore anything (your responses are amazingly thorough!) but i did figure since you've been, as you say, biased towards being more critical of crowley, i figured i'd have a shot at tempting/challenging you to analyse a positive aspect of his character to balance it out again ;)

i completely agree with your remarks on the implications of god - i discussed this at some length with LWA, but i'll say it again; i have some major reservations about the God Ships It trope in the fandom for this very reason. now, don't get me wrong, in the world of fic etc., i totally get it's just for fun, and i 100% stand by the notion that everyone should just get to write what they like for the purposes of entertainment (and they're legends for doing so!!!), but in the case of discussing god in general in GO, and her involvement in crowley/aziraphale, i simply... can't get on board with it, nor with the idea that god created them specifically to find each other, or that they were meant to work together/fall for each other. it, for me personally, just feels incongruous with other aspects of god's characterisation or indeed the theme of the story - to my interpretation, anyway.

i do however consider that aziraphale may perhaps - however funny the idea is and therefore the plethora of jokes that have been made about it - may have somewhat of a special place in god's esteem. i still consider the thoughts that:

aziraphale was a cherub at the time of and before eden, and if we consider both hebrew and christian angelologies, cherubim are consider to be the throne-bearers of god, and attendants to god, respectively

obviously this is not confirmed in GO, but if we work with the understanding that humanity is god's greatest creation, built in her image, it indicates some level of trust and prestige that aziraphale would be working on building them

aziraphale seems to understand the ineffable plan on a profound level, even if he doesn't quite consciously realise it. let's go with my rationale that ineffable plan = no plan = free will of everyone else, aziraphale has shown repeatedly that he follows this, and is never punished for it. examples: giving the sword away, lying to god about it, lying to the archangels, preventing armageddon. all instances, i'd wager, all directly contravene the Great Plan, and yet aziraphale is - to my recollection/understanding - never once punished for it.

so essentially, in my eyes, aziraphale is sort of the embodiment of god's will; again, even if he doesn't realise or know that, his decisions made out of the Right Thing To Do all indicate him thinking for himself, going where his moral compass is pointing him. he arguably resists it, finding it hard to reconcile this with what he thinks god's plan is (ie he thinks he's disobeying her - and by extension heaven's - will), but that's where crowley comes in. it's all a little main-character-ish, even for me, but it's currently the only thing that makes sense for a lot of god's actions and inactions in the narrative; that free will is her greatest gift, if only her creations would use it. i also love the metaphorical imagery, the poetry, of crowley being the question, and aziraphale being the answer (this sparks narrative analytical joy).

so let's segue back to the metatron; i know i said it in my previous answer, but personally my thinking on his motive is the other way around 😂 i really like your thoughts, especially on 'infallible vessel', and whilst that certainly speaks to me as being his behaviour, im not personally convinced that is his motive. imo (so please do ignore this if preferable!!!), i don't think it's narratively compelling in GO to actually have a villain, so to speak; obviously metatron fulfils the role of it, he's the Big Bad, but i can't help but feel that "blur the edges... something to said for shades of grey" speaks about more than just crowley and aziraphale's grapple with their moral identities, or indeed that of hell and heaven; for me, it's the specific, simplified concept that moral absolutism doesn't exist. noone is completely evil, just as noone is wholly good.

it would make sense, to me, for this to extend to metatron; whilst his actions are - to the audience especially - objectively immoral, i can't help but see the angle where if your whole purpose as you understood it was to be the voice of god, and to enact her will as she left it in her handover (ie. the great plan) before FO'ing out of heaven, i don't think it's beyond comprehension that his actions to preserve that will are understandable... to some extent. i want to see metatron's arse kicked as much as the next person, but at the same time i interpret GO as posing the dichotomy of conflicting morality, of good and evil, and exploring how far the two are intertwined... it therefore doesn't personally make sense to me that metatron would completely fall outside of this. his actions are detestable, but i want to see a story that makes me think about why he does what he does, and question my evaluation of whether - in context - he did the right or wrong thing... or maybe a bit of both. every villain is a hero in their own story.

as for his beef with crowley, well... i think it depends on what you (general) would consider personal. i think it could totally be personal in the perspective of 'im doing what i can to follow god's will and preserve the sanctity of heaven, and you're getting in the way of that - you are therefore a threat', and also the alternative of 'im the voice of god, im literally the highest authority, and you are directly challenging me". i think both absolutely could be correct, a mix of them - for me, the former being personal against metatron's motive, and the latter against his character.

where crowley/AWCW is specifically concerned re: his questions, i think again for me it makes for a more compelling character arc that crowley has existed throughout his fall and being a demon as not getting any answers, constantly questioning, and instead in s3 he gets the answers (albeit, i have a feeling that the answer will essentially be that there are no answers, and it's 'up to each of you to find your own ones'). AWCW not getting any answers to his questions would, imo, also make more sense for the dialogue on the wall of eden (again, reluctant to chalk everything up to a memory wipe).

right, ten million demons!!! this one is absolutely boggling me, and i did, at some point in a shitpost, question this - someone quite logically said that the demons were pushing for armageddon so that everyone dies and demons wouldnt have to work anymore, and that as the human population kept going up, so did the number of the damned (compared with the static number of demons to govern them), but im still... undecided. crackpot thought: perhaps in contrast to how aziraphale is treated post-retiring from heaven in s2, demons have taken inspiration from crowley, especially as armageddon 2.0 kept getting postponed after s1, and they've gone AWOL?

couple of things in this: it has the potential to tie into the various nina/maggie theories. we also have a lot more insight into demon dynamics in s2, and a common theme im seeing is demons... asking questions. eric (my beloved) in ep5, beelzebub's PA/bodyguard, furfur, even shax... they all feel very different to hastur and ligur in s1 in terms of characterisation, and even very different from dagon as we see them in s2, and i wonder if this has any correlation - any cause and effect relationship - with the decreasing demon population. it also seems to follow the trajectory of beelzebub losing interest in ruling hell; again, i wonder if essentially demons have had mass walk-outs and they're basically floating around earth, staying under the radar... similar to crowley. thoughts?

re: the archangels... i meant 'conclusive' haha!!! (edited on the previous ask, apologies!!!). what i mean is that i don't think we can necessarily, at this time, assign the same level of culpability or blame to the archangels as we do to metatron. it's the 'following orders' thing again, but put it this way - aziraphale arguably has the benefit of being assigned to earth, and being around crowley, to fully realise that he can think for himself and according to his own sense of morality. the archangels have not known anything other than heaven, god's plan, and the metatron's voice. they're not innocent by any stretch, but the bottom line - as i see it - for them is to preserve heaven. we can view their actions as deplorable, and that is true, but in their unique circumstances, what other action would, could, or should they have taken? i refer back to my thoughts above on moral absolutism and its place - if it has any - in GO and its characters.

re: memory of their time as angels, this is where i largely fluctuate on how much i subscribe to the memory wipe theory - but i don't think it's a full wipe, but potentially partial? im soooo not sure because there are so many counterpoints to each eventuality, but here are some scattered thoughts:

im personally not 100% convinced that metatron necessarily has anything directly to do with the memory issue thing. i know michael and uriel don't remember him (saraqael presumably does, same as crowley, because they had just watched the trial footage), and that is one part i can't quite get my head around... but i think perhaps that the memory wipe is attributable more to the BOL than to the metatron himself - i do think there's potentially a link between falling/erasure of grace and divinity, and to memories of being an angel

as i said (iirc) in the last response, there's the question of how crowley and - we can assume from the dialogue - beelzebub both remember the detail of frightening cherubs with the extreme sanctions threat. this makes me wonder if it's a case of them forgetting the fall specifically rather than their entire time as angels - or if their ability to recollect some memories is linked to their particular levels of power or rank. ie. the higher the angelic rank/individual power, the more they're able to remember? idk

as for demons not being aware of a wider issue, that's a fair point - but do demons really talk to each other? wouldn't that indicate a weakness, vulnerability? if there is a large-scale memory problem going on, which is a very tentative thought anyway, im not sure that any of the demons would in fact talk to others about it. also - quite right to point out dagon's rallying speech, but (and im probably flogging a dead horse here but im trying to work stuff out, so bear with me!!!) if the war occurred before the fall, the 'rebels' lost and fell, ending up in hell, i don't think there's any reason why the fall specifically might not have been wiped. idk, this whole thing needs so much more thought and research in general

one thing that i do think is interesting is that aziraphale hasnt ever spoken about his experience in the war, except to nina and maggie. this could just be how the narrative evolved organically, sure, but could it also indicate some level of guilt? some level of aziraphale feeling like he was to blame, the fact that he remembers the war where crowley doesn't fully seem to? i have my #halo theory wherein i wonder if aziraphale was the specific angel to actually declare the war in heaven - and this kind of links in with a couple of recent asks ive had where aziraphale may have had a judas iscariot-type role in the fall itself... (discussed here and here) i think him carrying some degree of shame and responsibility for the fall on his shoulders could make a lot of sense in regards to his characterisation after the fact, particularly on the wall of eden (this could arguably negate any scapegoat theory for aziraphale pre-fall, but i also think it could work concurrently. hmm.)

i absolutely love your interpretation of crowley's inner conflict, i think that's so well put, and i like it a lot!!! i certainly don't think crowley is willfully ignorant or in denial of his potential part in his own - or the wider - fall, but perhaps just doesn't want to examine or confront it, as you said... or perhaps doesn't remember altogether, and has just cobbled together why he thinks he fell. but similarly, i think it's also fair to assess crowley as having some measure of the same mentality as he did before he fell; that he can be quite blinkered, self-assured, and at times quite arrogant. there are quite a few instances where i think, to some degree, that he shows this, but i think that's another post!!! (and please, please do not think im hating on him - critique of a character does not mean i dislike him or find him reprehensible, i promise; it's quite the opposite honestly!!!)

last couple of bits, re: AWCW's rank - i think there's a distinction in the conferment of importance on AWCW by way of rank, vs by way of power, and that the two are not necessarily the same. you're exactly right - AWCW had an imagination, same as crowley does, and i too think this is the source from which all his power stems; nothing to do with his prospective rank in heaven. personally, i think it reads more poetically to have, essentially, a nobody be the one to precipitate an event that rocks the stability of heaven, and being the first (?) to question the system. but ultimately, like you said, it's immaterial, and the narrative would still hold and be profound if it were the other way around. just personally i like the idea of him being a heavenly Nobody to becoming a hellish Somebody is rather compelling!!!✨

I want everyone to know that YOU CAN VALIDATE THE VOTE IN YOUR AREA!

So I was listening to Trektivism last week and this podcast talks about how, but I'll just throw the links down for you too...

The basic need on election day is for people to record the poll tapes at their polling places once the voting ends.

In the US many states (but not all!) are required by law to publicly post the poll tapes that come out of the computers once the voting has ended. Voters who want to help the integrity of the voting process can then use the app from Actual Vote to record the totals of every vote cast at that location.

What does this do? Well, it keeps people honest. It increases voter confidence. It provides a secondary (and immediately available) recording of the votes tallied in one location.

Personally, I think it is a damned shame that we are entering an election year where we are thinking "I'd better make a record of this before something happens to it..." but there you go... the information is here if you decide to use it.

Just click the link and see if your state requires that the poll tapes be posted. Then get out there if you can and record away!

I'm deviating from the traditional recipe and making an orange one this year. That way, no matter what happens, I can slice up a dumb orange slab of severely mixed ingredients and use the various pieces of it in a way that is guaranteed to sustain me until every crumb of it has been removed from my life.

AND TOM IS A CONTENDER FOR THE MONEY???? thankfully rupert won because i would have flipped if it was any of the others. all in all this season was kind of disappointing considering it was all stars. it had its juicy moments but it got bogged down by all the people i don't like so I'm gonna give it....5.8 out of 10
