Hey, I started reading Robin son of Batman because of your recommendation (I literally have a print of your post on my phone to not forget lol). Honestly? One of the best things I ever read!!!

Thank you for opening my eyes! Damian has been one of my favorite characters for over a year, but I didn't read/watch much of him because of school, life (and probably an executive dysfunction in the mix).

Maya is incredible. I loved her.

I haven't finished all the issues yet, but do you have any other recommendations?

i’d love to give reccs, and i’ll try to go a beginner friendly route! tbh you can pick up whatever here, but since you've read R:SOB i’d immediately follow up with Batman and Robin (2011) #1-8! this first arc is what’s referred to in Maya’s introduction, and it's just. so good.

have you ever tried to consider that they never dated before lone trail because it would be unrealistic with the timeline and the events and also because it would be overshadowing the actual truth of why they couldn't get along

#i'll elaborate #firstly it's ok if you headcanon this i don't want to invalidate what people think #it's just that I think it's a fanon joke that have been going around for way too long #and I can't help but shed a small tear when I see people really headcanoning it #I personally think it's way more interesting if we consider that they never had something going on before Lone Trail #mostly because it's weird that they started dating in like some months when they barely knew or saw each other #but also because it adds nothing but just makes things even more harder for them #my personal headcanon is that Silence was maybe having feelings for Saria but like #you know these very premature feelings #like just “oh wow she's pretty and nice”#but nothing like really deep #but they never had anything going on before the diabolic crisis #and after lone trail after they made up and saw each other's true person #they start to actually get real feelings #I'm just complaining but I've been still seeing it around somehow and it's sad to me that this joke became a fact for many people #there's still a lot of fanfics about how they had been dating and now they're on bad terms #I think that going on the “they're exes” route is way too easy and actually hides the potential and interesting reason #of why Silence was mad at Saria #it's not because she hates Saria or blame her #it's because she's mad at herself for being so weak #really making them appear as exes just hides this really interesting truth and makes it all seem to be a sad love story #consider that they never had any of this and that this tension between them is because they blame themselves!!#their story is not a love story but above all a story about self love and acceptance #just my two cents enjoy my rambling i go back to bed now #(not putting this in the main tag I don't want to start a war I'm just rambling)

#2nd day/part of this #Ended up coloring this one (I'm starting to get used to aseprite and its tools). being a busy ass student with student journalism gigs on one hand and comm academic shit on the other is very interesting because with the jam-packed life I live I only really get to breathe at like late lAAATE night when no one can bother me about my responsibilities other than myself. that being said that's also when creative brain goes into overdrive and now misfits finally has the final draft of its opening number woo

#so heres the thing kasi the opening number of that damn project hAS BEEN THE HARDEST TO WRITE #i believe at this point there had been morethan 10 drafts gjdjd because like heres the thing with that number specifically #misfits is a fourth wall breaky show within a show and the 5 narrators (and 1 misfit which i'll get to in a bit) knowingly perform #to appease the audience. hence the opening number throughout the years has reflected that - a performance that breaks the barrier between #audience and stage. even when misfits wasnt a show withjn a show concept this had always been the general treatment so that the audience #actually GETS whats happening - but i always come to changing it because well i also wanted to add foreshadowing factors: somehing that #suggests that the show isn't actually all that it seems. previous drafts had this show through the typical Tagalog - Real #and English - Scripted element in the show - language being used to determine authenticity. however that begs the question of how to #properly utilize the Misfits in the opening number - given that two of them dont know about the Show while the other is confused #and then at 2 am i remembered Hermes from Hadestown and boop a lightning bulb #instead of opting for opening numbers that had hints of sabotage or theatrical malfunctions that suggests that the show is Not What It Seems #i thought - why not have it 'malfunction' at the start and have it introduce the wrong character first 5 minutes before the Narrators come #so basically after the Producers (represented through um P.A. voices smth like that) welcome everyone - what is supposed to be the #introduction of the Narrators first ends up as the introduction of the 3rd Misfit (Zeke - 18 - nb) who appears genuinely lost #they appear genuinely in distress though they keep themselves composed at the realization that they are facing an Audience #and they Know this because he was formerly a Narrator as well - though at this point in the story nobody (bar one) knows that #they decide to take their time in chatting with the audience while charming them using their old Narrator tactics in order to get a grip on #whats going on - being a first step towards how involved the audience will be in the story as Zeke then goes to question them outwardly on #the morals of the story they expect and whether it is ethical to have children forcibly conform to religion in the first place #but they do so in an entertaining Bo Burnham manner - a way that doesnt catch people off guard until They Want To - because ayun he #plays by the rules of the show #this doesnt seem like the 'opening number' yet does it but im getting there fjd because once they sense that the narrators will be on stage #as a memento they teach them to sing a melody that will serve as Zeke's motif - something that will eventually scare the lead Narrator and #the Producers - because whenever the motif is sung it means that someone has Broken a Significant Part of the show #especially since the Motif was um lets say its from a now defunct show the Producers and Zeke and the Lead Narrator used to have #that melody will then be subtly present throughout the entire opening number of the Narrators - which will then be played straight #but with the Misfits make their pre-official-introduction appearances by forming the bridge of the opener using the Motif #thats when we learn of the show being compromised from the very start - especially with the lyrics of the motif expressing doubt in faith #personal shit (ran out of tags whoops but um yea basically its Have The Audience Have A Hint to Whats Going On Through Recognizable Motifs)#(also the motif the audience learns is a melody - Zeke (and the lead narrator) changes the lyrics as they go) (also sorry for the ramble)

misc. daily life photos again .. for the every once in a while that I collect enough over a few months to actually make a photo set out of them lol

#Not sure how to caption every photo because you can unfortunately no longer caption photos so that text appears #under them when you view them. you can only add photo descriptions (which is more about literally describing #the image for people who can't see it or etc.). I wish they had the ability to have both captions and descriptions as both are useful for #different functions but it seems they took captions away entirely so. I guess I'll have to just number every picture and then talk about th #em in the tags or soemthing?? SO.. starting from top left to right --#image 1: blackberries BUT also if you look close.. there's a tiny little bug on them lol #image 2: little water droplets on the back of a leaf that looked cool.. love anything with tiny water orbs #image 3&4: a spiky fuzzy sort of caterpillar outside on a yardwork glove.. small friend #image 5: THIS is such a bad slogan!!! what a lie!!! And #the typical drink order of pina colada smoothie (i think it's coconut pineapple and strawberry?). plain matcha bubble tea (favorite and all #I ever get from anywhere). and a strawberry smoothie thing. I also usually get a coffee bubble tea but the place is like 50% of the time ou #of coffee for some reason so. hggh.. Which I know is like everyday food for some people but. I get food from places SO rarely that it's al #ays an event to take a picture about lol. Just cooking at home 99% of the time makes those trips for fancy food more special I guess #Id rather save the money/dont have much in the 1st place .& also am still a freak who hates using apps/dislikes shit like ubereats or etc.#I would literall NEVER get food delivered to my house under any circumstance unless I was dying alone inside on hospital bed rest with no #support system and no transportation and having food delivered to me was my last possible option. otherwise. if I want something so bad #I can just leave the house to physically pick it up myself without involving a middle man to the process and paying more. .. ANYWAY ghjgjh #image 10: BOY in BOX.. playing a new boardgame and he sits inside! rip to my big beautiful son. I miss him.#UpWords is a fun game though. "Easy" is about the narrator trying her hardest to love a man who will not bear his heart to her. She is desperate to be able to love him fully, but she cannot when he refuses vulnerability.

For Theseus and Ariadne, Theseus was much more open with her before he entered the labyrinth to battle the Minotaur. The two of them had quickly became friends, bonding over how they felt alienated from the world. She was willing to betray her father for him, by showing him a map of the nautilus shell shape of the labyrinth, and giving him a thread so he may find his way back.

After he came out of that battle, he was changed.

She wanted him to talk about what had occured, and why he suddenly become so distant, but he couldn't bring himself to open up to her. Having her with him soon began to scare him for reasons he did not know... he left her slumbering upon Naxos, alongside the sword of his father, the weapon he'd used to slay the bull with.

Theseus & Hippolyta | Have One On Me

Helpless as a child, when you held me in your arms, and I knew that no other could ever love me as you loved. Love me as you loved. But help me! I'm leaving!

"Have One On Me" is loosely based on the life of Lola Montez, a "Spanish dancer" who the mistress of a king. The song itself deals with themes of alcoholism, and a need to be loved regardless of how unhealthy the relationship may be.

Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, was Theseus' first wife. They met while Theseus was joining his cousin Heracles on a journey in Anatolia (modern day Turkey). Hippolyta and Theseus had a lot in common! But... This is not necessarily a good thing!

Theseus was new to being king, and while he'd already done some great things, it didn't stop him for sometimes longing for the freedom of his youth. Hippolyta was much the same, and the two had a tendency to enable one another. They would shirk their duties to go off sailing, or hunting in the Athenian outskirts. They even both joined during the hunt of the Calydonian boar, though... during this hunt, Hippolyta was badly injured. This is what made Theseus realize they need to slow down, but despite it all Hippolyta did not want to. This created a rift in their relationship, and eventually Hippolyta and their young child.

Theseus & Phaedra | Go Long

Who made you this way? Who made you this way? Who is going to bear your beautiful children? Do you think you can just stop, when you're ready for a change? Who will take care of you when you're old and dying?

"Go Long" is a play on the myth of Bluebeard, a man who, in legend, took a new young wife, but warned her not to look into a certain room he kept locked away. The girl did look, and within it discovered the bodies of Bluebeard's previous wives. Her curiosity leads to her death as well.

Phaedra and Theseus have a complicated past. Phaedra is the older sister of Ariadne, who spent most of her life up until that point having to be a mother to her younger siblings, especially after Pasiphae was traumatized as badly as she was.

Phaedra grew up jealous of Ariadne, who saw the world thru rose tinted glasses and believed in love and heroism. Ariadne was more "beautiful" than Phaedra, too. And her beauty and naivety led to her having her heart broken, at least until Dionysus himself decided to love Ariadne, and her bitterness grew.

Phaedra and Theseus' marriage was arranged by her older brother, Deucalion. They did not love one another, not truly, but they learned to tolerate one another. They eventually had sons of their own, as well. Phaedra was content to simply continue in her loveless but content marriage... but Theseus had another son. Hippolytus had grown up into a brave and intelligent young man, who forsake romance in order to honor Artemis. He and Phaedra never got along, he rejected had as a stepmother and wanted nothing to do with her. His lack of respect infuriated Phaedra, and it eventually culminated in a huge fight between the two of them. This fight later led to Hippolyta's death, as well as Phaedra's own... and Theseus never again remarried in his mortal life.

New Mature Content Warning Overlay (And How to Get Rid of It)

More fun community label "features"! Unlike the new mandatory label for #NSFW, this one is a bigger deal to me because it affects my entire blog and it can't be avoided by just using a different tag.

Apparently on custom blog layouts, if you happen to post or reblog even a SINGLE post that's been flagged with the mature content community label, a full-page warning overlay will appear blurring out your entire blog that must be manually clicked through every single time the page is refreshed. At first I thought this was just a bug due to my older layout but I've come to realize it's not. It's a feature (as confirmed by this recent changes post) that affects all custom themes. The formatting will vary based on your own theme but here's what it looks like on my blog:

I don't know about you but I find this is stupid and annoying. If it could be dismissed once and never seen again that might be one thing, but that's not the case. The vast majority of my blog is not "mature" enough to warrant such an aggressive and invasive warning. I also think pop-ups are obnoxious in general and I'll be damned if tumblr's going to force me to have one on MY blog.

After some desperate googling for a known workaround and being unable to find even a single mention of it, I decided to take on the challenge myself. I'm not a theme coder, so apologies if there's a better way to do this, but luckily it only took me like 10 minutes to figure out a simple fix, which I'm now sharing with anyone else who may want it:

.community-label-cover__wrapper {display: none}

Just copypaste that somewhere in your CSS and goodbye pop-up!

If you're not sure how to access your theme code, check out this help article. You can also add the code via the Advanced Options menu, which is actually even better (if you can get it to work, it depends on how your theme was coded), because it will then automatically be reapplied to a lot of themes without having to remember to manually add it every time if you change your theme in the future.

Obviously this will only remove it from your own blog for anyone who may visit it. If you never want to see this warning again on other people's blogs you can also add this custom filter to your ad block:

tumblr.com##.community-label-cover__wrapper

Unfortunately I do not have an easy tutorial on hand for this one as the method will depend on your specific ad block app or extension.

Some additional notes:

After adding the theme code and saving the changes, give it a minute to update as it sometimes takes a little while for the page to refresh.

The warning overlay only seems to appear if a "mature" post is on the FIRST page of your blog, which is still annoying and makes the whole thing even more pointless and stupid because what if someone visits any other page of your blog, and oh no, happens to see "mature" content they weren't warned about?!

The warning also appears on direct links to "mature" posts.

This hack has NOTHING to do with entire blogs that have been flagged as NSFW. It only works for non-flagged blogs with custom themes that happen to have individual "mature" posts.

I still don't know just how longterm he'll be around (it'll depend on how things shake out & whether he ends up liking Vash enough to stick around) but Even Tho he's mostly been long-distance present, he's been important to the story and So It Shall Remain for at least a while.

As the Olympic Games are officially starting in a week, I decided to finally sketch some of the designs for my Twisted Wonderland Olympics AU! Next up are Riddle, Trey and Cater.

AU summary

This is a magicless AU where all of the TWST characters are Olympic athletes in the real world. Some win medals, some barely qualify — but all of them live in the Olympic village. The students are aged up here (usually early to late twenties) while the faculty members have no set age and work as sports reporters.

♤ Character introductions ♤

ACE TRAPPOLA — A 21-year-old Italian prodigy basketball player. He's considered to be his team's ace (pun intended) and is great at tricking his opponents, making tons of baskets for the Italian team, and efficiently assisting his teammates.

DEUCE SPADE — A 21-year-old Japanese track and field athlete competing in various smaller disciplines falling under the "track and field" term. He's extremely average at most things other than sprints, often ends up in the bottom 3, and is secretly incredibly insecure about not being the best at anything.

ALLEN ALAGONA (YUU) — A 21-year-old Japanese-Italian gold-winning figure skater competing for his current home country, Ireland, along with his best friend and sports partner Alcestris. He gave up on his original dream — becoming a musician — and is now working hard to be the best male figure skater in the world, hoping to kickstart a career as a musician later on.

♤ Relationships ♤

ACE & DEUCE — Their friendship originally started when Ace posted a picture of himself watching a sprint competition while Deuce made a grimace in the background, causing the photo to go viral and become a meme. Deuce originally DMed Ace to take the picture down and got teased for it, but this teasing slowly developed into a friendship. While they get along well, Deuce is secretly a bit jealous of Ace for pretty much being a prodigy.

ACE & ALLEN (YUU) — Ace is a fan of Allen and views him as a fellow gold medalist. Being open-minded and "eager" to make new connections, Ace simply DMed Allen one day and the two became unlikely friends. Nowadays, Ace also functions as a matchmaker, being the only person to know just how much Deuce likes Allen...

DEUCE & ALLEN (YUU) — Deuce knows Allen as the most famous figure skater in the world and is absolutely stunned by both his appearance and humbleness. The two accidentally meet at a coffee shop during the games one day, decide to have a drink together, and strike up a conversation. Deuce is fanboying on the inside and trying to hide his surprise that Allen genuinely recognizes such an average athlete as him. Allen, however, already knows Deuce due to closely following all Japanese competitions, and has also noticed how incredibly ambitious Deuce is. Knowing Deuce's pain of carrying other people's hopes and never being the best at anything all too well from his teen years, Allen wants to get to know him better... and what starts off as mutual admiration and a celebrity crush on Deuce's side develops into full-blown love.
